I bought one, and the 1st thing I noticed is that out of the box the front did not close properly. The side missile launchers broke within 1 day of playing.

Unfortunate piece of cheap plastic, nothing like the Mach 5 I had 30 years ago.

I purchased this race car for one of my grandsons. We were disappointed on Christmas when it turned out the car uses the new "dot" type batteries. When I purchased it online, there was no mention of what I consider a "special" type of battery. As you know, most toys use AA, AAA, etc. I now know more and more toys are utilizing this type of battery. It would have been very helpful if I had known this before Christmas Day!
We bought this for our 3 yr old who loves it, and then one of his friends loved it so much that we bought one for him for a christmas gift! I was a huge fan of the ORIGINAL Speed Racer, and so bought a couple of the orignial DVD cartoons for them too -- one of the best is season 1. That said, the downside is that this car is not the original Mach 5, and so the accesories are a bit different. I would love to have a car with more of the original working accesories that the Mach 5 had. Like being a 2 seater, having a trunk that opens for Spridle and Chim-Chim, razor saws in the front instead of the side....etc...
I bought this for my sons (ages 3 and 6) for Christmas and they LOVE it. I was worried about how well it would hold up considering it's plastic and they have a lot of fun racing and crashing their speed racer cars, but it has been surprisingly resilient. The car transforms from a regular race car into "battle mode" and back really easily. We got it for a great price on amazon and are definitely pleased with what we got for the money.

I just bought this for my 3 year old son to add to our newly constructed train table. He loves it!!! He stops the trains there so that they can get a drink, and I love watching him imitate the drinking sounds. My 5 year old daughter has also been having fun playing with it, too. I love how compact it is, since once you have a whole train set on the table, there isn't much extra room. We also have the new Railroad Crossing that has also been a huge hit, as well as Cranky! I love how durable the wooden pieces are, and if you're patient enough, you can find some great deals out there.
This is a nice looking accessory, appears to be well built, and is easy to work into a layout (especially a smaller table layout).

Moving the spout up&down,&seeing the water move up&down with it is nice "interactive" touch (simple, but just right for a 2 or 3 year old).

I've knocked off 1 star just because the water doesn't always "go down" as much as it should when the spout is moved down, and it doesn't seem to get as much attention as some of the other accessories on our train table (although this is probably just the personal preference of my 2 1/2 year old right now).
I take my daughter to the various toy stores that have the train sets, to see what she's interested in (she's turning two this weekend and getting a set of her own). The water tower is fun BUT the liquid pales over time. We've played with five separate sets, and the "water" is varying shades, depending on how long it's been sitting out. One tower has completely paled now, and it's difficult to see when the water is "full" or not. It's not sun exposure, these stores don't have windows in the play areas. I haven't examined the boxes to see the warrenty information.
My son had been asking for the Water Tower for quite some time, so we finally got it for him.

The plastic that encases the liquid is very, very sturdy--and it has never leaked. (Believe me...my son puts his Thomas accessories through the paces!) It's quite heavy, and fits right onto the wooden railway. By moving the black spout up and down, the blue liquid appears to empty and re-fill.

Kids seem to be fascinated with it, including my son. I definitely recommend the Water Tower as a neat accessory to any wooden railway system.

I recently purchased this piece to go with our Thomas&Friends Wooden Railway - Roundhouse and it was an instant hit with my almost 3 year-old. He immediately figured out how to turn it and back the engines into "Tidmouth Sheds" as he calls it.

I will note though - this piece is largely plastic. The only wooden part to it is in the center where the rails are. The attachment pieces (on the red part) are plastic, as is the grey-colored siding that guides the engines into the Roundhouse. ALSO, the wooden piece, for whatever reason, is not glued down to the red plastic piece and falls out very easily. Not a big deal when it's set up and attached to the Roundhouse, but still annoying. The grey-colored siding also snaps in and out which also is annoying. My son takes off the siding and then yells that it's broken. It snaps back into place easily, but I don't understand why it comes off at all. While the red plastic part is sturdy, the grey pieces are a bit more flimsy, and I could see them breaking in the future if they continue to be snapped in and out of place by little toddler hands.

Overall, this is a fun and very entertaining addition to our Thomas collection. My son plays with it a TON. I would recommend it if you have the standard Roundhouse¬ the Deluxe.
We love this new toy. You have to line up the action turntable to the tracks so the trains can drive into their sheds. well built.
Thomas the train is my nephew's favorite toy. This was a nice addition to the track and allows him to have many different track options. Of course when your 4 years old your only concerned with the toys and not your options!
My 3-year-old received this for Christmas, and was very disappointed to learn that this turntable does not work with the Brio roundhouse (I think it's specifically for the Thomas one). It does not fit into the ramps leading to the individual sheds. We found a way to make it work by placing it in the middle of our track set up -- and having the turntable function in the middle of the Island of Sodor. But, if you have anything other than the Thomas roundhouse, look for the turntable that matches it.
My son was thrilled to get this toy, but lost interest in it quickly. The inner turntable comes off and gets misplaced at times. I was disappointed that he lost interest in it as he LOVES the train sets.

... especially the miniature egg crates! :) This is our first Thomas set and our boys, ages 2.5 and 1, love to play with them. We had to remove and hide the sugar barrel because it's so tiny it could be swallowed by the 1-year-old, but otherwise the set is perfect. We're ordering Harvey the Crane to be able to move the cargo around - hey, Learning Curve, why not sell Harvey as part of a set like this?

My wife is a Kimi fan and when he jumped ship to Ferrari from McLaren, I had to taunt her as a Tifosi. What better toy than the true Ferrari fans of Cars! They live the Tifosi life!
I ordered these for myself because i WANTED TO PUT THEM IN MY CAR IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT. i LOVED THIS SCENE FROM cARS, BEING iTALIAN SEEING THAT iTALIAN AFRO WIG WAS HILLARIOUS! tHESE CARS ARE EXTREMELY SMALL AS THEY WOULD BE IN REAL LIFE COMPARED TO THE OTHER CARS IN THE MOVIE.
My wife and I purchased all the "cars" toys for our two year old who loves them movie. However, I have gone crazy and have purchased every variant of the small cars so that my son can have the entire set (even though he only plays with a few of them right now).

my 29mth old loves this toy. He uses it to carry all his "broken down" cars and trucks. I like that the trailer is open sided, helps toddlers learn control when plling his truck around. Works will with his other Plan City toys. Small enough to take to restaurants, doctor's offices, and any other place where you need a few small toys. The first "E-Zero" company, Plan Toys makes their toys out of recycled rubberwood, and vegi dyes. I love a company that is both child and eco-friendly.
I had purchased this and the taxi/police car set for my nephew for Christmas thinking, from the pictures, that this was much larger! I was extremely disappointed, so much so that I did not give it to my nephew. Unfortunately, with the shipping costs, it's not worth returning either, so I'm just stuck. Nice.
I bought this to go with the parking garage. He absolutely loves the garage. There are two frustrating issues with this car transporter.
#1 - it comes unhitches very easily
#2 - the back gate does not stay up

Between those two frustrations, my son is very un-nerved by the toy. However, it's really cute how the cars fit on it and he seems to really like the concept. I thought ours was defective, but it seems others have the same issue with the back gate. I would expect for $13+ dollars for the details to be worked out. I am going to return it.
It is a nice addition to my 2 year old's wooden car selection.
I like how open ended and sturdy they are. He is two and gets really frustrated that the truck and bed comes off so easily. They are connected by one little parts and come apart very easily when the child is not careful. I think older he gets, the easier it would be to play with this particular truck.
When we got this, I was suprised by how small it was. It is part of the Plan City, so I guess it's proportional. Having said that, my son (2 1/2) loved it. He wanted to sleep with it every night. He did get a little frusterated because the back gate doesn't stay up. Also, he took all of the little black wheels off. That could be a choking hazard for little ones.
Plan City Car Transporter is a fun semi truck car hauler with two cars. The back ramp folds down to let the cars unload or load. It is great wooden cars and trucks for little hands. Your child can drive them with ease. This set is a wonderful addition for any of the Road and Rail sets. The imagination starts here.

My son saw this Tonka Recycle truck at the store but we did not purchase it at that time. We went back a few weeks later and he was so sad because it wasn't there and they did not know when it would be back in stock. We searched and found it here at Amazon.com. Jim and the rest of the gang really went out of their way to get the 4 foot long garbage truck to us all the way to Hawaii! Thanks Jim and the gang - you have made a 7 year old very, very happy!
This looks like a great toy and is a lot of fun, but there is a major safety problem. My son stuck his arm in the garbage hole about 10 minutes into playing with it and couldn't get his arm back out. We were finally able to remove his arm by cutting into the truck with a metal hack saw and sheet metal cutters. It took us an hour to get him free--an hour of horrible screaming and pain. He has a huge bruise on his arm from it. I really liked the idea of this toy and can state that it is VERY durable with metal rods holding it together, but it was horrible to watch my little guy suffer from an unsafe toy.
My son is one of those toddlers who will race from window to window and can be talked down from a tantrum just with the mere mention of "garbage truck". As a matter of fact, when he was a young baby, probably 8 months old, I had him on my hip and we were watching the neighborhood garbage truck go by and I said "Bye bye garbage truck". I swear, he repeated exactly what I said, verbatim. He hadn't even said "mama" yet...

So this was an obvious choice for us. We found it at Wal-Mart for about [...] ..I saw it marked down to[...] the other day. Bummer.

But he has really enjoyed it, as has his sister and all the friends and family who have come to our house since Santa brought it. It's got lots of fun buttons, and it sorta admonishes your child if they don't recycle. It's loads of fun (literally).

And the thing is sturdy. My son is a big guy, and I swear he can easily straddle and ride the thing if the mood hits. Enjoyable, fulfills a child's need to enjoy something we consider ordinary and they consider magic. It makes it real for him. I recommend [...] Outrageous!
My son loves this truck. He loves to watch our garbage truck pick up trash at our house, so this was a must for his bday wishlist. I give this truck 5 stars b/c he really loves it, it's durable, and keeps him occupied.
I ordered this item from Amazon expecting that Amazon would offer a good price, went to the store right after ordering the item. I found the same item for $34.99 therefore I came right to cancel the item from Amazon which was price at $64.99. I was told it was too late to cancel, tried to get in touch with Amazon and all I could do was get an automated email response, the truck came today and it is going right back. I will never assume again the Amazon offers the best price or that they are responsive to customer's emails.
