(Our Whole Family Plays With It) 『DURABLE FUN! If I had to describe this item in two words, it would be those. We have 4 children, but our two youngest are 2 and 3. I think, finally, someone has thought up of something that doesn't have "hundreds" of little pieces, small children of all ages can play with it and actually love it. I am a busy mom of 4 who stays home now to care for my mom full time as well. This toy is so quick to put together, I take it apart at night and put it back together in the morning and it takes maybe 5 mins. out of my busy day. My 3 yr. makes different track designs thoughout the days and my 2 yr. feels like he's actually the one making the train go on, so he feels rewarded. You can see his little gears working when he watches how it's put together. With that alone, it's educational
I don't understand some people giving this item a "poor design" or "not durable" ratings. Our train set has been sat on, stepped on (remember I have 4 kids), pushed over. This track stays together well an does not fall apart easily. You actually have to "unsnap" the pieces.
I give this item a perfect 10! It's the only reason I've gotten other GeoTrax stuff... so I can add to it.

(Great toy!!!) 『This is a great toy. My two year old loves it. He is able to work the remote, and likes to pull the train around the track. It isn't cheap, but considering its durability, its fairly priced.
Pros: extremely durable. exapandable/compatible with other geotrax, configurable, the hill and tunnel are cool. Simple enough for a two year old.
Cons: the track pieces are too hard for a two year old to snap together, its a little loud (with no volume). If it came with a couple other figures that would be cool considering there is a "station". Two more figures and a $50 price tag and this would be a five star review.
Battery-life is good but not great.
We have no problem with derailing. It will only derail if the hill is immediately followed by a curve (simple physics, it get going pretty fast down the hill), just put a straightaway first after the hill and it will never derail.
All in all: do not hesitate to buy, it really is a pretty cool toy, though it isn't perfect.

All Aboard! Fun and Easy to Play With The Timber Railway is painted in vibrant colors and has a cute, cartoonish look that kids will undoubtedly enjoy. The included train (named "Steamer") comes with three cars: a steam engine, a log cart, and a caboose. When the train's wheels move, its smokestack moves up and down. The train also comes with a conductor action figure. The railroad adventure begins at the Easy Rail Station by placing the train on the orange portion of the railway where it automatically aligns to the track. In general, the auto-aligning mechanism does well keeping the train on the tracks, but the train will occasionally derail when going down some of the steeper slopes. Kids can pilot the train by using an intuitive remote control, or can opt to move it around by hand. As the train traverses the track, it will make its way up a mountain, circle around loops and drive through a tunnel. There's also a working crane, where kids can load lumber and other cargo onto the cars.
Build a Railroading Network The Timbertown Railway features interlocking track pieces that snap together easily. Although it has been built for easy assembly, the track will most likely require some adult assistance during setup. I don't think it takes that long to charge the cars with the rechargeable battery so that actually was a positive to the new cars. And the new cars go really fast and the track is really nice. However, a week later the red car wouldn't charge. It would go but very slow no matter how long I charged it. Called fisher-price and they sent me a new one. The day after we got the new red car the same thing happened to the blue one. Called fisher-price again and they sent me a new blue car. I asked if this was a problem with other people and they said no but I see on here that it is. If it happens again I plan on calling them back and asking for a refund of the $65 I paid for this. Not to mention that none of my son's other original shake cars even fit on this track so I had to keep the old track and the whole point was to replace it! :)』

The best things about this new xtreme playset are: 1) it reconfigurable which gives it a lot more versatility 2) the cars are very fast (and have been reliable so far unlike the other reviewer's comments) 3) the loop really works and is a cool feature 4) its more durable than the other tracks--stays together and can be pulled apart and reconfigured relatively easily by the kids. (Could Have Been Awesome) 『Both of my younger boys wanted this toy very much (great marketing Fisher Price). They were excited when they received it as a birthday present and they were not disappointed when we got it put together and started playing with it. The cars move really fast and with the loop, ramps and barrels the whole family was laughing and enjoying the toy in just a few minutes. The problem seems to be with the cars. The red car charged&ran fine, but after only 1 charge, the blue car wouldn't charge enough to even make the loop. So, we took it back to where we purchased it (nationwide toy retailer selling it for $15 less than Amazon) as defective and got another set. (Just the car would have been ok with me--but their choice.) Anyway, got the second one home and same situation. Both cars worked great out of the box, but after 1 or 2 charges, the blue car wouldn't get up to speed (red car still fine). So, its going back again--my boys are very disappointed as they loved this toy. If Fisher Price had spent some of their marketing $ on quality control for their Chinese manufacturer, maybe they would have had a toy that was good for more than just the 1 day when you open it!』

(Simple, fun toy for 1-4 year olds) 『According to the packaging, this toy is for 1- to 4-year-olds (which means the Amazon's "choking hazard" warning may have been a generic one placed on every toy page). In addition to the school bus itself, you get Carlos the driver, Maggie, Michael, and a small "wheelchair." One interesting thing with all these Little People toys is you always get a mix of races in the characters, probably a way to instill political correctness in young children early on.
Pressing down on Carlos (or whoever is in that hot seat) allows the toy to make some simple sounds. I think there's little variety here, just 3 or 4 different phrases. The wiggly-wobbly action is so basic that it bored my kids after about 3 seconds, so they chose to ignore that part from the beginning. But otherwise both have fun with the toy, with the older one making up stories about the characters, which is exactly why I bought this in the first place.
I am a little concerned about the build quality of this made-in-China toy, though. Both the side door and the back door can open up, but the hinges are flimsy so I think the doors are going to break any time now. Also, as with other Little People vehicle toys, the characters don't sit in the slots well, so they tend to fall out even when the bus is rolling on a flat surface.』

He has used it for the last year or so with no problems. This toy has driven through sand (BAD idea, but didn't kill it), water, on carpet, concrete and vinyl flooring. It does not do well on grass. The remote has been submerged twice. We took it apart, dried it out and it works fine. The Gator has been dropped on concrete and down the stairs. It still works. The weakest part has been the string antenna on the car itself. Our toddler ripped it right out. Now you have to stand pretty close to the car to make it go. This car does float in water. We drove it through the swimming pool this weekend.
One word of caution, if you have more than one morphibian, they can't be used at the same time. The remotes will control any morphibian in the area. This is rather frustrating. My 8 yr old has the Komodo Dragon morphibian. The kids have to take turns using their cars.』

(Great RC car for small kids for the price) 『So far I've been very happy with this car. It may be a little difficult to operate at first, because both "control sticks" go up and down, but it gets easier the more one uses it (both up=forward, both down=backward, right up only=turn left, left up only=turn right). Power seems to be good enough to get it over most surfaces, but it won't work in grass unless the grass is cut very short. Works in wood chips found at playgrounds but sometimes gets stuck (can usually get it unstuck fiddling with the controller). On my laminate flooring it does a lot of sliding and is harder to turn accurately but it can still be used. I haven't tried it in water.
Changing the batteries is a bit time consuming because two screws have to be removed, but battery life seems very good. I use rechargeable Sanyo Eneloops. The car takes 3 AA's and the controller takes 2 AAA's.
Range is OK... could be better indoors but is better outdoors... just don't expect that much, maybe up to 100 feet outdoors.
The headlights (which appear to be LEDs) are nice. They are on anytime the unit is on.
Durability seems pretty good though the on/off switch can sometimes be a bit fussy and difficult to turn on (sometimes need to wiggle it a bit). There's no on/off switch on the controller. Overall though, this seems to be a great toy for the price.
UPDATE 2009-09-15: The vehicle continues to operate even with all the abuse and dropping it has taken. A piece did break off one of the headlights though, but considering the abuse it's taken and that it's still working is a testament to its durability. It's not indestructible, but seems pretty close. I still think this is a great beginner RC car for young kids.』

This is the first one that actually flies somewhat decently, however, we had to go play with it on a football field. You need a lot of room.....I mean A LOT of room. First let me say that I found this to be very durable. This dropped easily 50 feet into the hard dirt many times and it still works (they do give you extra parts). If you are unfortunate enough to break the styrofoam, you are done. I was unable to get a launch with the launch holder but was very successful with a manual launch. A word of caution here: although it is styrofoam, beware, this is a dangerous toy. The props are quite strong and caught the inside of my palm that almost gave me a two inch cut. Though it did not break the skin, my hands are fairly tough, and I believe it would have easily cut through softer skin, especially a childs. I would keep children close and behind you in case you need to deflect it. Some words of advice for an easier launch, send it up in a twist (it's actually fun to let it climb and try to make it hover) then press the mode button when it is at least 30 feet up and then practice steering. Try to find a big field, because it will hit the hardest when it is in flying mode (versus the twisting helicopter type mode). I don't know how easy it would be for a 10 year old, as I had to take a lot of time to get even basic controls working. The worst part is that once you get fairly comfortable the battery dies out and you need to recharge it. That's frustrating. Those are all worth a total deduction of 2 stars. Still, it is fun, and your kids will love it (if they can get it out of your hands). Do not use this in windy conditions as the wind will just take it away or send it crashing down. Use it in a field to help avoid a catastrophic crash. Send it up spinning and practice with that first so that you are comfortable with the controls. I think this one will actually work well with enough practice and adjusting the trim. I was not impressed with the "carrying case," which turns out to be the box it came in with a cardoard handle. Most of these are completely useless. This one actually does what it says, and with some patience, you should be able to have some fun (but you will also spend some time going after it to pick it up).』
(Sometimes you DON'T get what you DO pay for) 『We've had all the "styrofoam" RC flying helicopters, dragonflies, and more the last few years. Every year we vow never to buy them again because they're so fragile they break within the first or second use. Well, every year we end up trying again, in hopes the newest model will be an improvement over the previous year. We also figured that paying $[...] for the new Switchblade would ensure durability. Wrong again! Today was the first use and within 10 minutes the styrofoam wing tip broke off. The Switchblade needs to climb high into the air to have enough clearance to morph between flying and hovering. Well, it doesn't fly high enough, so when you change modes the thing crashes before it can recover. We read the instructions and we followed everything to a "t" because we know the history with these products. I told my son to "pack it up because it's going back" and when he was putting it in the box it rolled out of his hands onto the carpet and another foam piece broke off! I didn't think he'd get the remote control but he did! One of his new favorites. I think he will like for a few years to come, also. My only problem is that you can't order track for the GeoAir like the GeoTrax series. Instead, you have to order expansion packs. =P It's minor.』

Before take-off you'll need to use a Philips head screwdriver to install six AAA batteries (not included) -- three in Jumbo the jet and three in the remote control.
