My son absolutely loves it! This Percy engine is pretty neat. The "lights" part is a little weak, with a very small yellow headlamp on the front bumper. It's not very bright, but I guess you can't expect it to be a flashlight or something. The sounds part is pretty good though. The train makes a chugging sound as it rolls, and chugs faster or slower depending on how fast he's moving. There is also a button at the top of the cab, which either plays a "peep-peep" or steam release noise (IIRC). The sounds are not too loud or annoying unlike so many of my son's toys. I haven't even been tempted to remove the batteries or try to disable the speaker and tell my son that Percy lost his voice after catching cold down at the harbor. Though I did have to insist that Percy didn't need a bath and didn't want to play in the sandbox. Overall, it seems like a nice sturdy addition to the collection! I rated it at a 3 for education because really, I don't expect these things to do much other than keep my son busy and quiet for a little while. Nevertheless, you can use it to demonstrate magnetic properties and what inertia and centripetal force will do to a train coming off a high bridge and hitting a sharp curve without slowing down. This Thomas features with a working headlight. Thomas Wooden Railway vehicles, track and destinations are not compatible with Take Along Thomas items. We got two for our grandsons, aged 5 and 6. They live on a mountain in a very rural area, so a toy that breaks is a big disappointment. And, being in the great far away, eating batteries is also not fun. Well, for over six months now, our boys have played with their trucks night and day. The batteries last for hours and hours. There is a scratch here and there; and they're definitely dirty (the trucks and the boys), but they are still performing perfectly. If your kids or grandkids enjoy beating up toys outside in the dirt, they will love you for buying this one. My nephew loves his dump truck. It doesn't do anything special, really, but he gets a kick out of playing with it. It only has 2 buttons on the controller, so it's very easy for tots to use! My 2 y.o. loves this truck. The operation, however, needs improvement - the rear wheels (the ones that pivot to allow the truck to turn when backing) do not always get a firm grip when going either forward or reverse causing the truck to turn unpredictably making it difficult to control. Try using wide rubber bands on the wheels for improved traction. Our three year old has had a great time with this truck. It seems very durable and has now stood up to six months of abuse from him. It has been inside and outside and lived through all of it. I strongly recommend it for a three year old. The Kid Galaxy My First Radio Control Dump Truck is made for hauling, and that is just what it will do. Beginner level simple function radio control brings the construction site to life for you preschooler. The little workers will have fun getting the job done with this play set. The easy two button controller allows you to move your truck forward or turn backward. The dump truck comes with manual dump that you can lift, construction barriers and play boulders to add to the pretend environment. I've mutilated 2 9V batteries so far and tried a rubber mallet to get the thing in with no luck. I guess you can say it's well made, but the battery compartment is a shade too small lengthwise-it's bent the "-" side of 2 batteries. The metal was making contact, but the truck isn't moving. I guess I won't call it a total failure until I can figure out a way to get this battery in the controller in. I'm calling Kid Galaxy today, so I guess I can comment on customer service later. I got this from an Amazon 3rd party, so I'm thinking they won't be any help- given past experiences with some of them. I hope this works out. My little boy is going around the house saying fire turck! fire truck! and making the siren noise. I'll be a little sad if all I get out of this is really sore thumbs! :( Ordered for a 2 year old boy whose father is a firefighter - they both love playing with the truck and gives them bonding time My two year old finds this pretty easy to use (he is still figuring out there is a forward and also a turn button and tends to just randomly push) and a lot of fun for little guys. Slightly noisy when it's moving as you would expect. I bought this for my 3-yr-old nephew for Christmas. The remote is uncomplicated, and the whole setup is great for hand-eye coordination. The big folks had a blast with it, too. I have purchased many items on Amazon. Unfortunately this item was out sourced. I received the item promptly and then wrapped it for my grandson's birthday. When he opened it we immediately realized that it was dirty and the screws were stripped. In the excitement of a four year old, there isn't any packaging available. I have my receipt but to no avail as the vendor and Amazon have not replied to my request for a refund! Every Preschooler loves this classic iconic toy. This Fire Truck is radio controlled in a not so classic material. A soft vinyl body makes it child friendly and safe for ages 2 and up. Mia&Tia in their originial color. They're so cute! I wanted them to be apart of my collection. My daughter (3) is a big cars fan and we used these cars to help with potty training. (It's expensive potty training!) We look in toy stores to see if they have any new models or cars that she doesn't have yet, but they usually carry lots of the same. You can find them online, but the pricing is just ridiculous at times. We bought these for Christmas. I try to explain to her why Mia and Tia are flakes :-) The twins are, by far, my favorite of my son's collection. They are so cute together! Tia did get dropped from the kitchen counter and suffered minor rear bumper damage which was disappointing. My 4 year old has been quite rough with the others as well, but none has sustained damage as Tia has, oh well.
