Well Peter-Sam is in Seasons 4-7, 9-11, of Thomas and Friends. Really he is a good choice for anyone who has purchased some of the older Season four Dvds when Peter-Sam is in his prime, if you haven't that is fun but unless your child specifically wants Peter-Sam i recommend you hold off, he is after all a rather minor character.

For those of you who have children who are huge fans...Peter-Sam is a good idea. His dark green paint is very attractive and the details are phenomenal. I also am impressed with the lack of plastic and that Peter-Sam is mainly wood. In general Peter-Sam is a great addition to the railway, but like all of these trains he is expensive, so try to get him on sale, or here get him with a video or another train.

These were a hit with our 3 year old - he loves Cars the movie and he loves Toy Story (so how could we go wrong!) The Buzz car's helmet coem off very easily. It can be quickly fixed with super glue, but expect to be doing this more than once. Otherwise I can't complain - the Woody car has been fine, it's just Buzz's helmet. But yeah, they are really cute and he loves to play with them!

Our son (3) is the kid you see in the picture window watching the garbage truck go by. He loves to watch the garbage truck. And Waste Management actually collects our garbage, so we couldn't ask for anything more realistic than that! It makes a sound as you lift the arm to dump the bucket. I disagree with the other review...the arm of the truck is not flimsy. The truck also comes with a ball of garbage, which we had to take away from our son. It is just the wrong size if you have a child that likes to put things in his mouth. He moves around the floor picking up his sister's stuff "garbage", and does not miss the small, round choking hazard. Great fun!!
My son saw this truck at the local sand lot and couldn't stop talking about it. We were able to find it at Amazon and got it for his birthday. He loves pushing it around the floor and filling it with dirt. A nice, simple plastic toy truck. The lift arm seems a little flimsy, but what do you expect for $14?

The monkeys are boring to my son&daughter, but the lion car is, alone, worth the price.

I bought this for my five-year-old son and Thomas fan. The price was much better than you would find in the store. We've been paying about $15 for the two-car packs. This one is special; it's part of a train car. And the lion actually roars when you push his head down! A big hit; highly recommended.
This Zoo Car features a durable die-cast construction. Take Along vehicles, track and destinations are not compatible with Thomas Wooden Railway items.

My son received this truck as a birthday present for his 5th birthday. We spent maybe 30-45 minutes putting it together, with no real problems. The pictures in the instructions could be a little more clear (or maybe closeups would help), but if you read carefully, everything fits together with no problems. My son had fun helping me to find the parts that I needed to assemble it.

Since he just got this, I can't comment on its durability, but he and his younger brother are really having a good time playing with it and it seems fairly sturdy. It has nice detailing on the paint and has a working ladder and bucket.

I may buy this as a gift for another friend's child since my sons are enjoying it so much.
While the wood products we have purchased by the same company, mostly puzzles, are wonderful, this item is not. It was difficult to assemble, it doesn't stay together while playing with it, and my 3-year old son only became impatient with it, rather than enjoy playing with it. We opted later for a plastic firetruck, that a year later, he still plays with.
I bought this for my five year old for Christmas. Very few things are durable with him, but so far he hasn't broken this yet. I also bought the tow truck, which he did manage to break within two days. It's not the toy as much as it is him. I due like the wooden construction and the ease of assembly. This simple and simply designed toy is perfect for my son. He has enjoyed it immensely.
My son (almost 8) and my husband (an engineer) sat down to put this together. Many of the holes were either drilled too small or, even worse, drilled in the WRONG PLACE. Some pieces are cut the wrong size and just don't fit!! What a terrible WASTE OF MONEY. There is no way to make it work without major drilling and sanding and then re-painting.

My son is so disappointed -- he was really looking forward to putting this together.
You can read other reviews about this toy and get an idea. The holes don't match. The wood is too soft. The ladder comes off easily, so the kid can't tip it over. Impossible to assembled so I left one wheel out due to screw holes not matching. The paint is very soft and it will become dust when putting the toy together. Given that the toy is MADE IN CHINA I was concern about the paint coming off as dust, so I threw it out. The boy was not happy. If you want a good truck check out the Mega Blocks firetruck. It is plastic and the kid will love it. If you want the feel of wooden toys, then go to an unfinished furniture store.

Great purchase. These trucks are SO much fun. My little guys just loves them. I've bought 3 different sets&he loves them all. Durabe, brightly colored&very cute.
I am a huge fan of Melissa and Doug toys anyway...never disappointed. My 6 year old loves these. We just added to his collection.
This is the first Melissa&Doug product that I have ever been disappointed with but I wouldn't recommend this product. My son received both the construction&rescue vehicle set for Christmas. He honestly hasn't played with it all that much and the wheels keep falling off. I'm tired of trying to put them together all the time. I expected more durability from a wooden set of cars.

I bought this for my 5 year old who was fascinated with air craft carriers after our visit to Midway. This is a huge worthless piece of plastic...none of the parts (lid, watch tower, and satellite dish) attach or fit. So, every time my son moves it just slightly, everything falls off. The small deck that is supposed to go up and down does not work. The sounds are mediocre in quality and not very interesting. My son now only plays with the toy jets that came with it (which you may get separately and save $40) and this toy has already made it to the Goodwill just one month after purchase.
We got this for our son's third birthday (along with a DVD on aircraft carriers and a trip to the USS Midway in San Diego). Of course, he absolutely loves it and although he's only had it for about 2 weeks now, has played with it every day. It is huge, with 2 catapaults to launch the supplied aircraft that come with it, and also has a few great sounds/flashing lights. It is quite a realistic recreation of an A/C carrier and must say that, having been heavily into aircraft as I was growing up, am tempted to rewind the years and play with it myself sometimes! The only couple of negatives I would say are:

1) The planes supplied with it are made-up ones, more akin to alien aircraft. They aren't any of the usual fighter jets you would see on real carrier. Not a huge deal, but a little odd, given everything else is pretty realistic.
2) The planes are also made out of thin plastic, which is probably intentional given that one of the features is to be able to catapault these off the deck. However, I do question durability.
3) The bridge of the ship is a seperate piece that slots into the main deck. However, the slot is pretty thin and it easily keeps coming off - I am considering glueing this down.

Having said the above, the ship is pretty large and durable overall and has space to store the supplied planes beneath the main deck. Love the aircraft elevator too! To conclude, I would say it is on the pricey side for what it is (paid $55 on Amazon), but my son does love it so probably worth it in the end!

For someone who is interested in Navy aviation this is an excellent toy. The ship and the planes offer a great opportunity to explore the concepts of flying and landing/taking off from a ship.
Even though this runs out of batteries, I still like this toy. Sometimes I choose this toy over video games. The planes look like battle planes. Not too small, not too big, but just right. Better then all other tools.

Parent's note: My son loves this toy, but I feel that the included planes are really small cheap plastic things, but my son seems to like them. That is the most important thing. He does play with it often, but it a bit big with very little moving parts, so seems that it would not be that exciting, but he does enjoy it. I would say that this was a bit too expensive for what it is, but Jake saved and paid for it with his own money and thinks that it is worth it.
My son wanted an air craft carrier to go along with his battleship. I saw this one on Amazon and thought he would love it. And, he does!! Both of my boys play with it daily. It seems very durable and has stood up well to many battles! Well worth the money!
This deluxe play set is ready for action! Each set comes with an extra large main piece as well as many highly detailed diecast metal and plastic accessories.
