(Oops (or duh!) - Read last one first!)

(Great Book!)

(Word Of Honor)

(Another Exciting Novel by Radclyffe)

(Good but not as engrossing as other books in the series)
I obviously did the reading backwards - still.... While looking for something to read after plowing through I don't know how many books - I stumbled across this one. Needless to say, I have since ordered the remaining six in the series. I more than thoroughly enjoyed this reading -the characters, the plot, the dialogue and so on. Enough so that it has prompted me to write a review, which I never do or have done.

What impressed me most was the tenderness shared between the characters, those involved, and those not. I have read some reviews that say the relationships are a bit unrealistic... Reading is an escape, a fantasy, a learning tool, whatever. If I wanted reality all the time, I wouldn't be buried in a book!

I Love Dana and Amory and agree with the reviewer who thinks they should have their own series!! Something undeniably sweet about them.

I am working on my own "story" that I hope will grow up to be book someday. I hope I am fortunate enough, clever enough - to be graced with the presence of Radclyffes style and charm.

At any rate - if you want something to read that will capture your attention, imagination and a bit of your heart - read this...but start from book one! I do intend to reread the latest installment all over again once I read the first six - Indeed, it was that enjoyable.

I have really enjoyed reading the Honor series and was super excited when Word of Honor came out. It did not disappoint! Although the story does seem a little repetitive at times, it is well written and shows excellent character development. I love this series because I love reading about Blair/Cameron and Stark/Savvard's growing relationships. Who doesn't love a good romance? Now I have to wait for the next one!
I was so looking forward to this new arc into the lives of Cam and Blair and hoping this is where Cam gets to be the great agent she is supposed to be and bring down the bad guy. Disappointed again. She's turned Cameron into a whimp who cowtows to Blair. I'm ashamed to say Radclyffe has turn the series from suspense to smut. She has lost her objective of the secret service agents, which is to get the bad guy, not jump each others bones every five seconds. And another thing, this story was so short it was more like a school essay than a novel. I'm tired of these writer's getting away with less than 300 pages and some of the pages are blank. Here it is, you wait for almost a whole year for the sequel and its over in two days. I hope this is the last of this series. The characters could have been so much more.
There are so many wonderful characters in WORD OF HONOR.

Radclyffe did a great job developing Cam and Blair's entourage.
I love the way these women all support each other. Even if one messes up, the others are there to pick up the slack.

I Like how Rad develops the mysterious Valerie and the OH SO FINE newcomer, Dana.
The interaction between the news reporter, Dana, and the alluring scientist, Emory, is done flawlessly.

There is always something happening in this novel - some new event to wonder about.
Yes, it IS fast paced! The adrenalin rushes as Rad describes the enemy and brings the reader into his 'camp'.

If reading about powerful women trying to find the enemy isn't entertaining enough, one is then dropped into Cam and Blair's Rocky Mountain wedding, where LOVE is the happening assignment.

If only I could talk about the ending! It must have had Radclyffe glowing when she thought of it. It's clever, inspiring, terrifying, powerful, heart stopping, take a breath now, kind of ending. One of the best yet.

I think Rad has mined the last gold from these characters. I'm glad she tied up most of the loose ends, but if there is another book, I think it will be one book too many. I found myself thinking that the protective arm of the Secret Service is seldom called to fire their guns in this country (much less every six months). The problem with writing fiction that parallels contemporary happenings is that it is difficult to do it without treading on reality and putting some of what we wish will/had happpened in the fiction. It is another good read, but I'm glad the series seems to be at an end. Yes, I know that there are other stories that could be told because she has so many characters that we care about, but for the nonce they should be allowed to live their lives in our imaginations and not on the printed page.
One question: How did Ellen Grant (first two books) morph into Ellen Marks in this book? If she took her husband's name or went back to her maiden name a nit-picker like me would like to know.

A fast-paced romance shot-through with danger, passion, and excitement.

First Daughter Blair Powell and her lover Cameron Roberts, newly appointed deputy director of the Homeland Security Office, escape to a ski chalet in the Rockies after a harrowing attack by members of a domestic terrorism organization. However, Blair and Cam come under fire both publicly and privately when the media spotlights their plans to wed and an old nemesis resurfaces to threaten their lives. With the nation under attack, the world on the verge of war, and their personal lives the focus of intense public scrutiny, Cam and Blair struggle to preserve what matters most--their love.

(The power of a kiss)

(worth it)

(Unusual, realistic and delightful romance)

(Just What I Needed)

(Delightfully good-natured and humorous - 3.5 stars)
Suppose you were walking down the hall at work one day, minding your own business, when suddenly someone pulled you into a closet and gave you the greatest kiss you ever had in your life? And it was a woman? And you were straight? You thought. If you found yourself reacting in a way you had never felt before, you might have to follow those uncommon emotions to rethink your whole life.

Joslyn Simonini is a "turnaround specialist." She is hired by companies to tell them how to improve their operations and profits, which often causes employees to dislike her since they fear their jobs will be the first thing she will want to cut. Joslyn understands their feelings, but she's not there to get involved with their concerns. She's there to do an efficient job and move on, which doesn't require an emotional connection with the people she's dealing with. Until that kiss. That incident begins the unraveling of Joslyn's world as she has known it. She finds herself working with Raven Malvolio the chief financial officer of the family owned business she's been hired to improve. A working relationship quickly grows into a friendship. Joslyn hadn't found previous relationships with men particularly dynamic, but her contact with Raven has her questioning not only her sexuality, but the ethics of her job. She finally feels she has met someone she can let tap into the emotions she has kept hidden for so long, but she has also discovered a secret about the company that could destroy everything. Joslyn and Raven will have to answer some difficult questions about the priorities of family obligations and professional ethics to determine if a relationship is possible between them.

Galli does a good job of building her story and creating her characters. Joslyn starts out as a very repressed character who gradually opens up as events occur. The opening scene of the kiss starts the book off with a nice comic touch without becoming slapstick and then plays nicely into Joslyn's overly developed sense of professionalism when she first meets Raven and suspects her of being the office letch. Incidents occur at a nice pace in the book and give the reader a chance to get to know the characters and who they are. This is Galli's third novel and she has developed the ability to write a good solid story with appealing characters that provides a few hours of pleasant reading. Romance lovers will enjoy this book.

I ran across this book by chance while doing a generalized search on Amazon, and asked for it as a gift. I admit, I've been burned by bad books too many times recently to want to spend my own money on an author I'd never heard of before.
This book definitely had me hooked; I read it every spare moment. Great characters, great drama, great romance, and obviously in-depth research.

The only reason this has a 4 instead of a 5 is for nitpicky reasons. This is an author with a lot of awesome potential; I kept feeling that if the book had only passed through the hands of a dedicated editor, it could have been perfect. And that was mostly just for simple things like typos or grammar mistakes.

Anyway, this is a smart and sexy read that I would definitely recommend.

This was the first Lynn Galli book I've read, but it will certainly not be my last. Her writing style is refreshing and engaging. The characters are enjoyable and fleshed out. The characters were easy to like and the situations were true to life. The few sex scenes were written in a new manner that really added to the character development. The entire book was imbued with a gentle humor, despite the serious title. I highly recommend it.
As a big fan of Galli's, I would definitely have to say she did a superb job with this third novel. I love her sense of humor and the characters are amazingly well developed. This is definitely a must read in my opinion. Everything I was looking for in a romance.
I was delighted with this book, and consequently devoured it. This author continues to show promise, employing a fairly unique and intelligent voice that doesn't shy away from playing around with the English language. She combines this with a flair for characterization that draws you into her stories, and helps to overlook the books' weaknesses. There are flaws. This book was lightly peppered with malappropisms, and had one or two other confusing linguistic moments. But this novel was much stronger than her previous book (Imagining Reality) and I look forward to what this author will produce in the future.

Part of the strength was that this book was better focused and had a clearer narrative line. This could be because there are no shifting view points: we are with Jos' perspective the whole way through, an ostensibly straight, successful woman who has an amusing encounter based on mistaken identity early on that colors her perceptions the rest of the book, most particularly those of Raven, the woman she is irresistibly drawn to. They have similar interests and hobbies (cars, Italian cooking, the Seattle Storm, horse-back riding), both have strong family ties, and they strike up a heated friendship immediately.

This book is just fun. It seemed to be filled with a buoyant good will that carried the story along effortlessly. Jos is an interesting character with a distinct perspective on things. She also acts like an adult, which is refreshing. The conflict is reasonable, and the characters don't dwell on it endlessly. There is no wallowing. The character relationships are also realistic, and their motivations are well-supported and consistent.

The book is probably stronger for the fact that these are all-new characters created outside of the circle of friend introduced in Lynn's first two books, but Elise and Austy do make a cameo. I'd really give it 3-1/2 stars, but still display it as 4 because it was in Seattle, involved the Storm (even throwing in the dreaded possible "move to Oklahoma controversy). Good times.

As a turnaround specialist, Joslyn Simonini spends her days analyzing corporate profit margins and trying to keep her likeness from being turned into a voodoo doll by company employees. If she does her job well, they often lose theirs. So, it comes as a surprise when she finds herself being kissed one day at work. She's even more shocked to find out that the mysterious kissing bandit is a woman.

Not in the habit of kissing women, Joslyn tries to brush off the unintentional mistake. But before long, she's forced to examine the rush of emotions that accompanied the kiss, especially when she meets Raven Malvolio. At first, she needs Raven to complete her analysis, but she doesn't expect to need the friendship that Raven offers. When those friendly feelings escalate to something more, Joslyn's confusion and underdeveloped emotional range might ruin her chance at a relationship that could surpass even her dreams.

Uncommon Emotionstakes a look at how someone can think she's happy with her life only to be surprised by the passion she's yet to feel.

(Thumbs Down)

(Wonderful)

(Melodrama at its best)

(A master novelist - not just for lesbians)

(One of the best books I have ever read)
I don't like writing negative reviews. Really, I don't. ----Except, that is, for books such as this one which fully deserve it. Fingersmith is, to be brief, a sump of slipshod writing, contrived plotting, bogus atmospherics and two dimensional characters. If we are at the point where this can be considered as anything approaching Dickens or The Brontes, as so many of the professional reviewers do on the back cover and the opening pages, then we have reached a low point indeed in literary valuation. ----As a test, pick any page from Charlotte Bronte's masterwork, Villette, concerning its heroine Lucy Snow, and compare it to any of the pages here concerning Maud or Sue, and you shall behold the clear difference. You may still prefer Maud and Sue and Fingersmith, but that is rather a judgment on you than on Bronte. My guess, though, is that most reviewers here haven't even read Bronte unless they were forced to do so by an English teacher.

Outraged readers will no doubt want to know what I mean by slipshod writing since they, to my disbelief, refer to it as "wonderful," "beautiful," "skillful" and other such superlatives. Let's take Sue's character, shall we? The girl was brought up in an environment wherein she didn't even learn to write her own name, and yet, she mouths utterances such as, "I was, not to put too fine a point on it, properly funked." P.423 This is, not to put too fine a point on it, the voice of an educated person like Sarah Waters with a slangy flair to it, not Sue, or Susan, or whatever name you want to call her by the end. Sue also mentions Helen of Troy as if she has read The Iliad and many other incongruous things besides that beggar belief.

My real problem with the book though is that it is so unchallenging as well as unentertaining. To plough through this book is to be exposed, time and again, to man's inhumanity to man, man's inhumanity to woman, woman's inhumanity to woman - especially in the madhouse, and so on. My only feeling after finishing it was a relief at not having to read any more about comic book characters about whom I couldn't care two shillings put through a Victorian meat grinder, which is no less brutal than the Twenty-First Century version of it.

My final exhortation to the prospective reader: Read the Brontes, read Dickens (particularly Bleak House), read George Eliot, read Thomas Hardy (esp. Jude the Obscure), read, in short, the real thing rather than this, sadly, uninspired and uninspiring literary throwback that, as Sarah Waters has said, arose out of her doctoral studies on Victorian pornography.

I'm not sure how to describe this story, I don't really want to tell you anymore than I knew before I started reading it. It's so much better to be surprised by the twists and turns, I will tell you there are many.

Sue Trinder is a thief from London who has set out to assist one of her compatriots, known as Gentleman, into tricking Maud Lilly into marrying him, in an effort to get his hands on her fortune.

I loved and hated the characters that Sarah Waters brought to life. Her descriptions were so vivid, the details many, the mystery exciting...I loved it!

If only they could all be so good!

Sarah Waters is a wonderful writer and story teller.
I will be looking for more of her work.

This is melodrama, but intelligent, entertaining and well-written. It kept me guessing, and it kept me turning the pages throughout its not inconsiderable length. Its period Victorian color is well-done; its romance, eroticism and violence are all tastefully rendered.Highly recommended.
Sarah Waters has produced yet another Victorian adventure in creating "Fingersmith".

Any explanation of the plot would betray some of the plot points and twists. I will stay away from spoiling the fun of reading through this exceptional novel.

Sarah Waters has a talent for portraying many aspects of women in a way that brings them alive in her novels. Her characters are more than mere stereotypes. Some might describe them as "flawed." Compared to T.V. heroines, perhaps they are flawed, however, a better way to describe her central characters is to say that they are multi-dimensional and believable. Many of the characters develope from backgrounds and circumstances to which all of us can relate and appreciate.

After a few plot twists, Sarah Waters' heroine finds herself to be a talented "fingersmith". A fingersmith is a Victorian term for a "pick-pocket" or thief.

From these common beginnings, much in the way of her first heroine in Tipping the Velvet: A Novel her "everywoman" heroine in "Fingersmith" encounters one adventure after another to find herself in a plot twist of intrigue involving another woman. Although this is not as as sensual as her first novel: Tipping the Velvet, "Fingersmith" provides a rich ambience of romance and tenderness between the women.

The writing is superb, with concise but fluid descriptions of 19th. Century England, and, the personalities we've come to savor from Ms. Waters.

DO see the BBC production of this engaging novel!Fingersmith

The format of this book was amazing, along with many other aspects (detailed descriptions, character development and the overall plot line). Chapter one was told by one character's point of view and the exact same story was told by another character's point of view. Even some of the lines were the same, making the stories line up so perfectly and deliciously and so shockingly different.

The overall story was just amazing. I am surprised this concept hasn't been made into a movie.

I would not consider this anywhere near as racy as Waters' other book I have read, Tipping the Velvet which is just fine with me.

This book is marvelous.

Fingersmithis the third slice of engrossing lesbian Victoriana from Sarah Waters. Although lighter and more melodramatic in tone than its predecessor,Affinity, this hypnotic suspense novel is awash with all manner of gloomy Dickensian leitmotifs: pickpockets, orphans, grim prisons, lunatic asylums, "laughing villains," and, of course, "stolen fortunes and girls made out to be mad." Divided into three parts, the tale is narrated by two orphaned girls whose lives are inextricably linked. Waters's penchant for byzantine plotting can get a bit exhausting, but even at its densest moments--and remember, this is smoggy London circa 1862--it remains mesmerizing. A damning critique of Victorian moral and sexual hypocrisy, a gripping melodrama, and a love story to boot, this book ingeniously reworks some truly classic themes.--Travis Elborough, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazing!!!)

(cathy's review)

(A Father's Love)
I love to read, it could be anything, as long as it holds my attention especially on the first couple of paragraphs.
This book was read in one night (non-stop).
It made me laugh, and yes cry. The ending was shocking and I probably will read this book again. I know it will be very hard to forget.
This book will always stay on my book shelf.
An excellant read Mr Holloway.

Firstly I thought it was just another of those 'juicy' books without much of a feel.
However, as I almost coming to the last few chapters, I began to feel for Mason. Their genuine sincere love between both dad&son, following with Mason's new found lover, especially where the story ends with 'Time in a bottle'.
This book was already two years ago and I am now looking forward to another great work from the same author....
"Alan Holloway, where are you and your new masterpiece?"

I am not a big fan of reading. But one day I came across this book as I was surfing Amazon.com. I read part of this book on-line and knew I had to have it. I ordered it and within 3 days read the whole thing. I feel in love with this story! I was really surprised when I searched for other books by the author and couldn't find any. I really like his work and am looking for another book to read. If anyone has any suggestions of other books that are similar to this one PLEASE let me know. My email address is JLSmith472@gmail.com. Fell free to email me with suggestions. Thanks! Jimmy
THIS BOOK IS DIFFENTLY DIFFERENT BUT IT WAS INTERESTING READING. THIS HAD THINGS I HAD NEVER READ ABOUT BEFORE BUT A GOOD LOVE STORY AND A GOOD ENDING. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.
Daddy's Little Boy was a book I picked up thinking it was going to be an interesting read what I wasn't expecting were the erotic passages of the story that included Mason from the age of 12 until he becomes a teenager experimenting with various men and boys. Most of them are straight and are surprised to find themselves very attracted to this supple blond nymph. There was one part that i had to laugh myself silly especially because of the rotten Spanish, being Hispanic myself I was completely flabbergasted of what kind of translator or if they had any for this book. I really liked Mason's character and was surprised at the sexual encounters he pursued, whether from an Uncle, a cousin, his dad, a bully, farm workers etc. There are some heartwarming moments including Mason's love for his Father and then his newfound love among a former Bully, Brett, who falls in love with him. Though Mason is set on loving both men, he is ultimately left with one choice in who to love in the end. There is homophobia, rape, prison sex, incest, pedophilia and death set within the book's storyline, but I believe it is a worthy read despite the taboo topic of a Father and son love Daddy's Little Boy is an erotic and good book to keep in your m/m collection one that you'll want to come back to despite it's short comings.
An erotic coming of age story with a taboo twist.

(Needed to be EDITED)

(An endless mind teaser!!)

(A White Man's Opinion)
I picked this up out of curiosity from the title, I knew nothing about the "hype" and what not of this book as I don't really keep up, but I've been reading this book on and off for the past two months and am STILL not finished. The writer's style is very amateur and lacks cohesiveness, which has not held my interest as I struggle to finish; it's just quite boring to me.

I could care less about the topic he chooses to tackle, it's the delivery I'm most at ends about. I've heard that it's being billed as this tell all, but what intelligent adult reader is today still blind to the fact that this gay/bisexual culture is built within the entertainment industry?

My advice to the reader: don't get your hopes up if you're looking for name dropping, etc. To the author: I'm pretty sure you'll never work again in your profession after this anyways; you just should've went for the gusto and put it all out there, names and all.

This book was written by am amateur. The subject matter is too important to have been this badly delivered. The characters were not developed enough to make them memorable. The author rambles on and on unchecked and unedited. It reads like a first draft, filled with flash backs that do not serve to enhance the story. The author certainly lived this experience but he has several incorrect and juvenille opinions that are hard to read at times. Great that this book got written, however, not so great that it was poorly done.......
First, I must say that Terrance Dean is a gifted writer. I give credit where credit is due. His life story about how he grew up, survived and overcame sexual abuse was intriguing to say the least. What this man went thru as a child and even an adult was truly amazing. For him to succeed with so many odds stacked against him is awe-inspiring. However, didn't care to much for the guessing games of the celebs that are on the "down low". While I guessed correctly on some of his clues, the majority of his hints and clues had me thinking and guessing so hard my head hurt!! If he was gonna give clues and hints, I think he could have made them more easier like say maybe their initials, the songs they wrote or in some cases the movies they were in. The name guessing really had me frustrated. If you buy this book....make sure you buy it used.....or better yet, go to the Library!!
the book is a major disappointmnt - i guess i got caught up in the hype but should have learnt from the mistake of ms steffans equally awful video vixen book.
lesson learned and never to be repeated i vow never to purchase a book of this ilk again- it was bland and pointless.
the angle that this was a gay man blowing the cover on those hiding their sexuality in hip hop via self acceptance was ludicrous particulary given at one point the author does the whole 'i'm a top and therefore not gay' line which is so lame.
i think most people looking for an insightfull read will find this book too supeficial, those that like lightweight gossip and triva might be entertained.
I wish i could get a refund.

I was in Houston visiting a friend when he pulled this book out. I was bored and started flipping through it... and then started to read it. I don't pretend to know ANYTHING about this lifestyle but I do know the book was very easy to read and very simply written - conversational style. I had no knowledge (still don't) of any of the references to hip hop or even the Hollywood references above the glaring obvious. I enjoyed reading this book and it's familiar written prose. Knowing what I know after reading it, I would buy the book. Thank you Terrance. I enjoyed it!
Everyone wants to know the truth about their favorite celebrities' heart's desire. Within the masculine culture of Hip Hop and Hollywood, there is a well-known gay subculture that industry insiders are keenly aware of but choose to hide. Terrance Dean worked his way up for more than ten years in the entertainment industry from intern to executive, and has lived the life of glitz and bling along with Hollywood and Hip Hop's most glamorous. With a family full of secrets and working in an industry founded on maleness -- where one's job, friendships, and reputation all depend on remaining on the down low and in hiding -- Dean writes a revealing account of the journey of coming out from hiding.

Full of startling anecdotes and incredible true stories,Hiding in Hip Hopis not a traditional tell-all. A personal and poignant memoir, it is also one of the most provocative and honest looks at stardom and sexuality.

(Something quite different)

(Praise! Praise! Praise! Great Book!)

(Abuse comes in many forms)

(Her best book yet....)

(Astonished)
I usually reserve 5 star ratings for the small number of lesbian romances that are exceptional. Hotel Liaison scores highly because the author has done something different and original.

I have only read one other book by Ms. Meyer, Rising Storm, and wasn't gripped by the throat at all, but this new romance is one of the most enjoyable I've read recently. The idea of women renovating a women only hotel and uncovering a fascinating history is a winner. This plot could have been dusty and dry, but Ms. Meyer created a cast of characters who bring the story to life, from runaway Ember to her unlikely ally, elderly Mrs. Castic.

Most important among them is Laurel Hoffman, who is smothered in an abusive relationship with her boss. Both women are academics and the partner, Rochelle, uses her power in this setting to intimidate Laurel into being less than she really should be at home and in her career. Kudos to Ms. Meyer for making this destructive relationship believable without being black and white. Laurel plays a role in her own unhappiness and her journey to break free is one of the most compelling parts of this book.

The romance between Laurel and Stephanie was rewarding and touching without being over the top. I was left with the feeling that there is more to be told. Sequel please! Hotel Liaison is a well-written story with a very good plot and characters that feel real. These are women you could hope to meet and sit down for a cup of coffee with. The writing is pleasant and there are touches of humor that also make reading a pleasure. I closed the covers with a sigh and a smile. I want to thank Ms. Meyer for writing a romance a cut above the ordinary in every way.

Hotel Liaison is JLee Meyer's fourth book and although the other books are very well written, this novel simply takes it to the next level. It stands alone as a masterful piece of work.

One feels they are on a personal journey with this group of inspiring women as they each grow into their strength. The Hotel serves as their home, their fortress. It becomes the reader's home too.

JLee's novel is an exciting romance, poignant, historically empowering and very realistic. The struggles these women face are struggles many of us can relate to. There are abusive relationships in real life, there are financial woes from time to time, and there is the hope of love to keep us going.

Excellent! ~CC

Abuse exists in many forms. It can exist within relationships, organizations, or societies. Hotel Liaison is a romance that has at its heart abuses of several different types.

Stefanie Beresford and her friends are trying to restore an old hotel with the idea of creating a business that would cater only to women. Things have not been going well as they've found themselves beset with unreliable contractors, cost overruns and mounting mortgages. The entire p
