(Dr. Manhattan Figurine) 『Since I really like this Dr. Manhattan figurine, I thought I'd type a mini-review of it, though there's not much to tell. The craftsmanship, detail and painting are very well done. What is not mentioned is it comes with two sets of legs, one for standing him up without a stand, the other for use with the stand (which barely fits the base, by the way). I believe this figurine of Dr. Manhattan best represents his appearance in the Watchman movie moreso than the luminescent figurine, which seems cheaply made and less detailed. The attempt at producing a glowing affect on the other figurine is poorly conveyed as it just makes it seem like a cheaper product. For that reason, I don't understand why it costs more than this superior version, in my humble opinion. I also love the fact that this version is cheaper in price than all of the Watchmen figures, which is puzzling since Dr. Manhattan is arguably the most central character and best hero in the comic book and the movie.』

(Cute, but I expected more.) 『Why I am qualified to speak: I have been collecting action figures since the first Star Wars figures back in the 1970s. I have thousands of 1:18 action figures (literally THOUSANDS).
I Paid $[...] for this figure (movie pre-release sale [...]) and feel that it is about $2 over-priced. I see that they are now $[...] to $[...] at various stores and that price is way over the value mark. Pick this up at $5 or less when they go on clearance (I can't imagine people will buy tons of these at $10 a pop).
It appears that this character is released in the same quantities as all of the other characters and is not short packed, ALTHOUGH, some stores received different types of cases with different contents. I saw a freshly stocked endcap at Wal-mart and all characters had at least 4 representatives. Neytiri had 6, Na'vi Jake had more than 10.
The good: -Pretty 2-tone paint scheme. You can't tell it is Neytiri, but you can tell it is Na'vi and female. -The arms are jointed at the elbows. As thin as the arms are, it is nice to see them get elbow joints instead of the stiff, one-piece arms many female characters get (Uhura). -The loin cloth has the loop for the tail (Cute detail). -This figure will stand out in any 1:18 collection and is the best of the Na'vi bunch.
The bad:
SCALE: -I wish all the various companies would settle on a standard 1:18 scale for their figures and then honor that scale with acute attention to detail. This figure stands almost eye to eye with GI Joe Heavy Duty (just a bit taller). And the Na'vi characters are not nearly tall enough to be on scale with the AVATAR human figures, either. She is tall but not tall enough.
-The figure's head and face are too small for the body (tiny, human eyes).
-The figure has cankles... necessary (maybe) for articulation, but they ruin the shape and flow of the leg.
ARTICULATION - GI Joe and Star Wars (Hasbro) have mastered articulation so it confounds me why everyone else keeps putting out lesser joint attempts. Neytiri has all of the major joints, but they are fragile and cheap. I don't think there is any metal anywhere in the figure so I wouldn't put money on the joints not wearing out.
-The tail is not articulated and is stuck out to the side.
ACCESSORIES
- The bow and arrow are cast as one piece and are always in the drawn position. Unfortunately, there are no other accessories. - The base doubles as an I-cam ID 3D thing that doesn't interest me (requires an app install which I won't contaminate my PC with).
CONCLUSION:
I like this figure and I'll keep it as a curiosity but I am not interested in getting the rest of the series due to the low production quality, low detail, and inaccurate scale (not to mention the ridiculous price). There is no way I would let my children play with this due to the joint frailness. 』
(Pretty cool figure, but not perfect) 『Neytiri was my favorite character in the movie, so she was among the first Avatar toys I bought. Of course, it didn't look much like her, but that's because Neytiri is 10 feet tall in the movie.
Pros: I've got to say that she is very detailed: her hair and bracelets and feathers are very intricately sculpted. Almost every joint is articulated two or three different ways, meaning she is very poseable.
Cons: The tiny articulated joints feel easy to break. Her tail doesn't turn, so it gets in the way when I try to make her sit on the Navi banshee creature. I almost broke her tail off because I thought it did turn (everything else is articulated). The loincloth gets in the way, too. I spent a long time trying to pose her on the banshee, but no success. Also, she does not have the Bio-Lume glow in the dark spots advertized on the website. At the i-Tag site, it says that version of the figure is "coming soon." It is also quite expensive for its size (maybe that's because of the i-Tag).
I can't review the i-Tag part because I don't have a webcam and cannot use it. It looks pretty cool, though.
The final word: This figure is probably best for adult collectors, because it doesn't seem tough enough for kids to play with.』 『

The likenesses are ok, but a laser scan of the actors/actresses like they had for Lord of the Rings figures would have made these Avatar action figures much truer to what we saw on the screen. The points of articulation are well done. Since these figures are scantily clothed, the joints need to be smooth, and these are.
The figures are very small. I really wish they'd been full-sized action figures. They were probably made tiny to keep costs down. It's a great toy at an affordable price, not complaining. But maybe you can create a deluxe model for the avid collector?
If by "educational value" you mean educating the general action-figure collecting public about the fauna, flora, mecha, and invaders of the planet Pandora, found in the movie Avatar, then it's very educational. The movie itself teaches that we should have a reverence for nature (and that we earthlings really need to work on this). I love this new Marvel Universe collection, the figures are at 3 3/4" scale, just like all the Star Wars figures. which i collect, and even though i have some Marvel Legends figures (6") here and there i was never into collecting them as i am probably will do this ones.
The Quality is Ok, but they did a great job on the painting. an it has many articulation points. the cap is wearing a suit im not familiar with, that lacks the infamous wings on the side of the mask. Price is a bit steep here in amazon, i received mine as a gift but know it cost $7.99 but i know this i rapidly turning into a collectors item, as the figure i currently going for more than 20 dlls. on ebay』

When you put the plant inside and try to close it up, it doesn't seem to want to close correctly. Overall, not very well made, but my son loves it- so I can't complain too much:)』
(A Must For WALL-E Enthusiasts) 『If your child is crazy about WALL-E, this is a very fun item to have. It is durable, the parts (even the doors of Eve's tummy, pop on and off like old fashioned pop-beads. It is varied in what can be done with it, ie. press head to get 6 different eye expressions, pop open the tummy and take out the plant, attach the lightbulb to her hand, attach the lazer arm and pretend to blast the rock that pops off it's base when you press the button. Just a couple little drawbacks: the rock that "blasts" off is a little hard for a 3.5 year old to work, and it doesn't go far; and the button in the back of Eve that opens her tummy is awkward for a small child to work while holding EVE because she is small and it is difficult to hold her in a way that the child's hand is not in the way of the "doors" in her tummy. No batteries is a plus; overall a good value. My grandson really enjoys playing with it.』
(SEARCH AND PROTECT EVE) 『This toy is not durable. The door compartments fall off too easily and the doors after time become loose. The head stops being able to change from the many different expressions. The light bulb does not stay in the compartment.』
(A wonderful desk addition) 『I recently purchased the Search and Protect Eve toy from a Disney Store while visiting Michigan. I saved the unpackaging until I got home so nothing would go missing. After opening it I found that all the components are just fine. The shoe fits in Eve's belly (though you have to fumble a little to find out how), the lightbulb fits snuggly on her hand, and the rock is a cute addition but only if you get the Wall-E figure as well. I love the ability to change her expressions with a push of the head, right now she's holding her little lightbulb over my laptop and smiling gleefully at me. This is definitely a cute addition to a desk, but I don't see kiddos getting much play out of it without a wall-e. If you're going solo toy for a kid, get a higher-class model like the interactive Eve. If you want a wonderful addition to a desk that will make you cheer up immediately when you see it, buy Search and Protect Eve..then click her eyes to the incredibly happy and try not to smile. I love Eve. :)』

My children love to play with it as it changes eye expressions by tapping the head and really does resemble the "Eve" from the movie. However, the removable parts (arms) can be pulled off with little to moderate force, the doors to place the shoe-plant accessory pull off as well with little to moderate force, and if the head is pressed too strongly, the eye expressions may be stuck to one type until you press it at different angles. I wouldn't recommend giving this toy to small children (under age 4) due to the potential loose parts.
