(DVD Purchase)
『I got my purchase very quick....and i'm VERY pleased..
will be shopping this store again ...』

(High and Low)
『I believe the most important thing about this film is how faithfuly it renders the genius of Victor Hugo - historical accuracy, flawless literary structure, and unique style. The charater of the poet (Gringoire) is probably a self portrait of the author with the hunchback (Quasimodo) as his dark side. You can think about these juxtapositions without being misled - concepts that nourish.』

(The best remake.....)
『This version of the immortal story of the Notre Dame bell ringer is second only to the Chaney orginal. Add to Laughton's great performance the intoxicating beauty of Maureen O"Hara and you know you got a winner!!!』

(The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
『Sure, it's early Hollywood - Maureen O'Hara's hair remains perfectly styled even after she is tortured - but the film remains for me as fresh and wonderful as when I first saw it in the 1930s.』

(Hunchback of Notre Dame)
『To anyone who has never seen this film: it holds up very well for a film from the late 1930s. The photography and acting are quite good. The extra features on the DVD are better than average. Charles Laughton and the other actors make this work quite well.』
『The story of Quasimodo, the hunchback bellringer of the Notre Dame cathedral in 15th century Paris, who rescues a gypsy girl from the evil intentions of her guardian.
Genre:Horror
Rating:NR
Release Date:1-JAN-2002
Media Type:DVD』

『Of the many film versions of Victor Hugo's novel, this classic from Hollywood's golden year of 1939 remains the best, rivaled only by the 1923 silent version starring Lon Chaney. In his triumphant attempt to create a performance as memorable as Chaney's, Charles Laughton played the lovelorn Parisian hunchback Quasimodo under a disfiguring costume and gruesome makeup that rendered the actor almost unrecognizable. The result is a gripping and heartfelt portrayal of the misshapen bell ringer who falls desperately in love with the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda (played by Maureen O'Hara). The lavish production also greatly benefits from exquisitely moody black-and-white cinematography, brilliant medieval set design, and the atmospheric direction by German expatriate William Dieterle, whose style was heavily influenced by German films of the era. The DVD release includes the original theatrical trailer plus an additional audio track with authoritative commentary by film historian Paul Mandell.--Jeff Shannon

(Christine (Special Edition))
『Arnie Cunningham is a typical high school nerd who is picked on, overruled by his parents, and has very few friends. Until he meets Christine, a run-down 1958 Plymouth Fury and buys her. Arnie learns that Christine has a thing for him and devotes his time to restoring her to mint condition. But overtime, Arnie begins to change and becomes disconnected with reality and his friends. Arnie's girlfriend Leigh and best friend Dennis find out that Christine's previous owner cared about nothing else when he bought her and find out that Arnie is becoming just like him. The only way they can bring Arnie back to reality is to destroy Christine, but Arnie and Christine are ready to destroy them first and any one else who gets in their way. Christine is a classic horror movie that delivers on the good scares. I still have a hard time watching it. This is one of the rare horror movie that is very enjoyable. I highly recommend that you see this movie if you get the chance, it's a classic.』

(Loaded with extras!)
『I remember watching this movie as a kid. What I wasn't able to see then were all the extra features with this DVD. The featurettes, deleted scenes and alternate ending are great. I would highly recommend this DVD for the Christine enthusiast!!』

(Not As Good As The Book But Well Worth Watching)
『I'm not a real ardent Stephen King fan but have read most of his hugely entertaining early novels (those published in the 70's and early 80's) and I consider CHRISTINE to be one of his best. I came across the film version the other day and didn't really mean to watch for more than a few minutes but I was riveted from the opening scenes at a Detroit auto factory in the 1950's where Christine is manufactured to the unsettling final scene. The movie had to condense and combine a lot of material from the book but still remains relatively faithful to King's original plot. In fact I picked up a copy of the novel again and really enjoyed using it to fill in some of the details the film merely hinted at. One minor complaint is that the novel CHRISTINE took place in the Pittsburgh suburbs and director John Carpenter changed the movie location to California where it was obviously filmed. The acting from the mostly young and still not particularly well known cast is OK but nothing special. Music is very cleverly and memorably used throughout the film and really enhances the storyline. There are some gruesome deaths but the goriest of details are left mostly to the viewer's imagination. If you enjoy this movie you must read the book!』

(Christine Special Edition)
『As usual, I can trust Amazon and most of their merchants with supplying excellent products and prices. This was a gift for my son to watch while he was recovering from shoulder surgery. I was pleased with the delivery time and the ease of the transaction. I do purchase through Amazon and their merchants quite often and have only had one truly, truly horrible experience with a merchant, not Amazon itself. If you read my other reviews, you'll discover which merchant is totally untrustworthy. I will continue to do business with Amazon in the future.』

(Just See It.)
『I won't waste your time repeating for the one thousandth time what the plot of the movie is. That is not what reviews are for.

This movie seems stupid, but it's not. I avoided this film up until five years ago when I saw it on a lark, fully expecting it to be a complete waste of time. Man, was I wrong. The movie is actually surprisingly entertaining.

There is nothing better than the scene where someone is trying to get into the car and she starts playing "I hear you knockin', but you can't come in" on the radio. Genius.』

『An eerie, twisted love story of a teenager and his obsessively jealous 1958 Plymouth Fury—- as only Stephen King can tell it! Christine is a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury who seduces 17-year-old Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon). She demands his complete and unquestioned devotion and when outsiders seek to interfere, they become the victims of Christine's horrifying wrath. This special edition is packed with added features. Starring Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Harry Dean Stanton, Christine Belford. A Stephen King classic.』
『She can't (and won't) drive 55.... Stephen King's novel about the twisted love affair between a boy and his car gets transferred to the screen, courtesy of suspense master John Carpenter. Although lacking some of the more outré supernatural elements of the source material, this high-octane cinematic tune-up more than delivers the goods, horror-wise (Christine's midnight rampages will never be forgotten)--as well as being a sly exposé of the random cruelties within the high-school pecking order. Keith Gordon (who has gone on to become a stellar director in his own right, with films such asA Midnight ClearandMother Nightto his credit) gives a wonderfully controlled central performance. Carpenter's atmospheric original score is backed up by a well-chosen collection of rock classics, including George Thorogood's "Bad to the Bone" (the titular character's all-too-apt theme song).--Andrew Wright

(The Trouble with Suburbia)
『Would you like to know what your neighbors really do in their spare time? Well, The Burbs may not be completely truthful, but it is hilarious to watch. Here's a dark comedy that pokes fun at suburbia and the people who live in it. It may not be laugh-out-loud funny, but it's funny nonetheless. The acting ensemble is first-rate: Hanks, Fisher, Ducommun, Dern, and Feldman played their parts perfectly. The silly horror gimmicks never get tiring after repeated viewings. This is one of director Joe Dante's better films, and it really is worth watching.』

(The Burbs)
『The tape was like new, exactly as described and came within a few days of order placement. It was for my sister-in-law who is in a nursing home with a brain tumor. All she has to look forward to every day is watching a movie on her VCR. The Burbs is her favorite movie. It makes us feel good to see her laugh. Thank you!』

『Ray Peterson (Tom Hanks) would like nothing better than to spend a quiet week's vacation in his suburban home, drinking beer and watching TV. But, spurred on by his two friends' spinning of boyish paranoid fantasies about their reclusive neighbors, the Klopeks, the usually down-to-earth Ray begins to suspect his idyllic neighborhood has been invaded by an evil force, to the point where he and his friends become psychotically nosey. You see where this is going, and you see it from a mile off. Only the general surface-thin plot is somewhat offset by director Joe Dante's fine sense of the absurd, and a host of engagingly played neighbor-types, namely Rick Ducommun as Ray's best friend who's always proposing bad ideas, and Bruce Dern as a sometimes wild-eyed ex-vet who'd love some action. Dante and crew seem to have a knack for keeping these broad characterizations light enough that you don't mind their superficiality. But the best jokes in this unprepossessing film come from composer Jerry Goldsmith's score; Bruce Dern's presence, for instance, is announced by the theme fromPatton, and the boys' first approach to the Klopeks' for a meet-and-greet is buttressed by classic strains from Sergio Leone spaghetti Westerns. Kudos to the Klopeks, for their evil ways are ably embodied by Henry Gibson, Courtney Gains, and Brother Theodore. In particular, any suburb that finds it's inhabited by the likes of Brother Theodore is in dire need of new zoning laws. But Carrie Fisher's role as Ray's amiably long-suffering wife is thankless, and she deserves better.--Jim Gay

(Great Claiss 80's Horror movie)
『The Lost Boys a great Classic Horror movie with a bit of comedy thrown in. One of my favorite 2nd vampire movies of all times only SubSpecies is Number 1 on my own personnal list of top Vampire movies.

Great movie, classic songs, classic comedy, Great Acting and a Great Evil vampire (David) Kiefer Sutherland. the 2 Corey's are good in this movie and have some of the best one-liners in the movie.

if you like Vampire movies I recommend seeing this movie and add it to your collection.』

(The Lost Boys- My Favriote Vampire Flick of the 80's)
『The Lost Boys Is an awesome movie, that is perfect for the 80's

Plot- a mother and her two children to santa carla, a place in california that is proclamed by two local boys that the town is inhabited by vampires and are after one of the mothers children named michael!

Acting- solid acting, plus great music score

Gore- an exploded head, a ripped throat, a bloody skull bite and some impalements

Bottom Line- 5 out of 5

Rated R/ Time 97min/ 1987/ Color

(Skip this lazy re-issue of the 1998 version)
『Buyer beware! This is a copy of the 1998 edition if the film. The 2004 Special Edition was given a superior transfer with loads of extras. Since this was issued in 2007, one could assume that this is a single disc version of the 2004 release. However, this is the original transfer with the bare-bones presentation of the original DVD. Spend a few dollars more on the Special Edition DVD or the Blu-Ray.』

(BLU RAY VERSION)
『BLU-RAY VERSION IS WORTH BUYING. I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE MOVIE, OTHERS ALREADY HAVE. BUT, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TELL YOU IF IT IS WORTH UPGRADING FROM YOUR REGULAR DVD TO BLU-RAY. THIS ONE IS WORTH IT. COLORS ARE STUNNING AND SOUNDS GREAT.』

(Better than Twilight!)
『Sorry Twilight fans! Twilight was a good movie but this is the ulitmate vampire movie! If you are looking for a vampire movie that has action and is about vampires and not just a chick flick of vampires falling in love -this is the movie for you! I have seen every vampire movie out there and this beats them all! The storyline, the action, and actors/actresses was just awesome! This a movie I can watch over and over and not get sick of it. If you haven't watched it-Watch It! you won't regret it!』
『Strange events threaten an entire family when two brothers move with their divorced mother to a California town where the local teenage gang turns out to be a pack of vampires.』
『This 1987 thriller was a predictable hit with the teen audience it worked overtime to attract. Like most of director Joel Schumacher's films, it's conspicuously designed to push the right marketing and demographic buttons, and granted, there's some pretty cool stuff going on here and there. Take Kiefer Sutherland, for instance. InStand by Mehe played a memorable bully, but here he goes one step further as a memorable bullyvampirewho leads a tribe of teenage vampires on their nocturnal spree of bloodsucking havoc. Jason Patric plays the new guy in town, who quickly attracts a lovely girlfriend (Jami Gertz), only to find that she might be recruiting him into the vampire fold. The movie gets sillier as it goes along, and resorts to a routine action-movie showdown, but it's a visual knockout (featuring great cinematography by Michael Chapman) and boasts a cast that's eminently able (pardon the pun) to sink their teeth into the best parts of an uneven screenplay.--Jeff Shannon

(Just Okay)
『With each sequel, the plot becomes weaker, the acting terrible, and production values drop.

Buy it used (not over $5) and you shouldn't be too disappointed on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

(A few Irish coffees really help.)』

(Classic Horror)
『Classic horror on DVD with clear sharp picture and sound track. If you are building a classic horror library you will want this DVD to be included in this Lon Chaney, Jr. classic.』

(Question on Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man)
『I saw one of the "Wolf Man" pictures with Lon Chaney when I was in one of the primary grades in elementary school. I was in the front row as they put the youngest and lowest grades in front as the children in the higher grades could see over our heads. It was on a Friday afternoon, and I, being just a child, had the hell scared out of me (the large bed sheet used as a screen was no more than 10 feet in front of me) when Larry Talbot changed into the Wolf Man in a jail cell, snarling and rattling the bars as the camera panned in for a closeup. To mention just how effective the special effects were at the time, that scene created a fear that lasted for a very long time. I was especially fearful at night when alone and for years afterward dreaded going into my dark bedroom. No matter how I tried to describe my fears to my parents, they could not understand and never allowed me have even the tiniest light to allay my anxieties. (They were not cruel . . . things were simply different in those days.)

Looking back, I think that those original "Wolf Man" movies were the state of the art in their day and there are few things new today that can compare with those ground-breakers.

This is the first time I came across the movie ("Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man") where I thought the scene was. It was not. Next I watched the first in the series, "The Wolf Man," and it was not in that movie either.

This is the first time I have seen any of the "Wolf Man" series since I saw that movie almost 70 years ago, and I can still picture that transformation from man into beast, with the creature wildly raging against the confines of the bars in the cell.

Is there anyone out there that recalls this scene and in which movie it occurs? Perhaps I am recalling the correct movie but the scene was not included in the re-release.

Thanks,

(The Best of Lon Chaney)
『This set has the best horror work done by Lon Chaney; the original "Wolf Man" and the follow-up movie, "Wolf Man Meets Frankenstein." I know the first movie by heart and see it often on TCM during Halloween. The second movie isn't shown as often and is one of my all-time favorites.

In the "Wolf Man Meets Frankenstein," they give us a chilling atmospheric opening. Two grave robbers break into the tomb of Lawrence Talbot, who died in the first movie. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it but the grave robbers learn the error of their ways. Lawrence Talbot aka The Wolf Man is free again.

I hadn't seen "Werewolf of London," or "She-Wolf of London," in years. But the addition of these two movies doesn't distract one bit from the set. In "She Wolf," Lockwood is terrific as the frightened woman who thinks she's a werewolf. She may be, but I'm not saying!

In today's world of horror, this is tame enough for family viewing. If you have very young and easily-frightened children, maybe not. It would probably earn a PG rating.』

(One of the Best of Universials Monsters.)
『I am glad to add this to my collection but at the same time. I was dissapointed by only two of the Talbot Wolfman series. I admit to having never seen the other two movies of this collection. But I look forward to seeing them. I do recommned this collection of any fan of the Classic Horror movies.』
『For the first time ever, the original The Wolf Man film comes to DVD in this extraordinary Legacy Collection. Included in the collection is the original classic, starring the renowned Lon Chaney Jr., and three timeless sequels, featuring legendary actor Bela Lugosi and others. These are the landmark films that inspired an entire genre of movies and continue to be major influences on motion pictures to this day.』

(One of my favorite PG-13 horror flicks)
『Saw this years ago and it managed to give me goose bumps especially with the surround sound effects. Love the twist at the end which I wasn't expecting. Those of whom who had seen Sixth Sense will know what I mean. Nicole was well casted for this movie. If you're looking for blood and gore you'd be sadly disappointed. It stands alone without dazzling special effects as a masterpiece in both storyline and acting.』

(The Others)
『On the secluded Isle of Jersey in the final days of World War II, a young woman waits in vain for her beloved husband to return from the front. Grace has been raising her two young children alone in her beautiful, cavernous Victorian mansion, the one place she believes them to be safe. But they are not safe. Not anymore. This movie is a ghost story with some honest scares. A supernatural thriller that is involving, suspenseful and interesting. This is one scary movie.』

(OK to see once)
『A well acted, spooky movie, but once you have seen it there is no need to see it again. All the action is based upon what is revealed at the end of the movie, so a second viewing leaves one wondering why they are wasting time watching the movie. Unless you just like the acting. Rent first, then decide if you want a copy in your library.』

(A LEGITIMATELY EERIE GHOST STORY)
『Nicole Kidman was at the top of her game in this film. It is a crackling good suspense movie, that unwinds its chills in slow twists of plot, and superb dialogue. Amenabar quietly, subtly, and ever so deftly reveals the twisted secrets of a haunted mansion, seemingly perpetually wrapped in fog, and seething with dark psychological underpinnings.

THE OTHERS is a trance-like walk into a deviously, evolving nightmare, with a deliciously macabre finishing flourish. Not many ghost stories are comparable to THE SIXTH SENSE, or THE INNOCENTS. This lusciously atmospheric morsel is- in spades!』

(WEAK GHOST STORY)
『Perhaps, I was not in the mood; but this entry in the William James look-a-like contest just did not make it with me. No particular complaints, I simply was not caught up in the whirl of creaks and groans. The cast did well enough with what they had to work with, but they were not able to create the aura of mystery and suspense needed to induce the necessary spell.』
『Screen sensation Nicole Kidman (MOULIN ROUGE, EYES WIDE SHUT) delivers an utterly unforgettable performance in this scary and stylish suspense thriller. While awaiting her husband's return from war, Grace (Kidman) and her two young children live an unusually isolated existence behind the locked doors and drawn curtains of a secluded island mansion. Then, after three mysterious servants arrive and it becomes chillingly clear that there is far more to his house than can be seen, Grace finds herself in a harrying fight to save her children and keep her sanity. Acclaimed by critics everywhere, the unpredictable twists and turns of this compelling hit will keep you guessing as it keeps you riveted to the edge of your seat!』
『A welcome throwback to the spooky traditions of Jack Clayton'sThe Innocentsand Robert Wise'sThe Haunting, Alejandro Amenábar'sThe Othersfavors atmosphere, sound, and suggestion over flashy special effects. Set in 1945 on a fog-enshrouded island off the British coast, the film begins with a scream as Grace (Nicole Kidman) awakens from some unspoken horror, perhaps arising from her religiously overprotective concern for her young children, Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley). The children are hypersensitive to light and have lived in a musty manor with curtains and shutters perpetually drawn. With Grace's husband presumably lost at war, this ominous setting perfectly accommodates a sense of dreaded expectation, escalating when three strangers arrive in response to Grace's yet-unposted request for domestic help. Led by housekeeper Mrs. Mills (Fionnula Flanagan), this mysterious trio is as closely tied to the house's history as Grace's family is--as are the past occupants seen posthumously posed in a long-forgotten photo album.

With her justly acclaimed performance, Kidman maintains an emotional intensity that fuels the film's supernatural underpinnings. And while Amenábar's pacing is deliberately slow, it befits the tone of penetrating anxiety, leading to a twist that extends the story's reach from beyond the grave. Amenábar unveiled a similarly effective twist in his Spanish thrillerOpen Your Eyes(remade by Cameron Crowe asVanilla Sky), but where that film drew debate,The Othersis finely crafted to provoke well-earned goose bumps and chills down the spine.--Jeff Shannon

(This movie is twisted)
『My husband is a HUGE horror flick guy, I personally think this movie should be made for devil worship, but if you like scary and twisted movies, this is it.』

(Preeminent Tale of Debauchery and Gore)
『If you enjoy well-done horror drama, big on revenge and that leave little to the immagination, it doesn't get any better than Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects, the sequel to 2002's House of 1,000 Corpses. Served up to the viewer are gruesome depictions of depravity including a girl getting flattened by a speeding tractor trailer, a guy getting nailed to a chair, torture by cattle prod, and assorted graphic stabbings. Its all here, rolled into the murderous tale of a Manson-like family of low lifes in the desolate California hills, led by Gacy-like clown character, Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), and husband-wife psycho duo Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie, all specialists in abducting, torturing, and killing strangers. The pigs head at the property entrance brings to mind the Canadian pig farmer serial killings a few years back. The local sheriff, convincingly played by William Forsythe, makes an armed attack on the clan's farm that is less than successful, and decides to apply his own brand of barbaric justice to the psychopaths.

This underated film gets high marks for directing and editing, quite amazing since it was completed in 30 days. The women in the movie are attracive and vulnerable, and there's tasteful nudity to go along with the mayhem. Acting throughout is surprisingly good for such a brutal, sadistic movie. Because of its more realistic portrayal of violence, it is leaps above comparatively, pablum-based offerings of the past like Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, Motel Hell, etc.

Hardrock tracks by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Terry Reid, Joe Walsh, and others add familiarity and a hip quality to the movie. I liked the use of "Freebird" in the latter part of the movie with the bloodied killers cruising in a big blue caddy in the California landscape. Special features include comments by director and cast, and deleted scenes that easily could have been left in, but then this gorefest may have exceeded two hours. The Blu-ray PQ is excellent on a 1080p plasma TV.』

(The Devil's Rejects)
『This probably should be renamed "Hollywood's Rejects" since none of these actors or anyone else associated with this film will ever be on the stage receiving an Acadamy Award. All this film is is a bloodbath of violence and gore, surrounded by bad language. But first and foremost its full of really bad movie making. Who would right trash like this? Only in a society that pays money to watch this junk.

These three family members, a father who likes to paint himself to be a clown and his two offspring go on a killing spree. They catch the attention of a misguided lawman who wants to hunt them down for his own self glorification. This makes the people of west Texas to look like a bunch of morons. Oddly enough, the devil himself seems to make a cameo appearance to rescue goofy dad and odd duck son from a burning house, to which he later returns. People get shot a lot in this film. If the person is a victim of this bloodthirsty gang, they die. But if one of the family members get shot, and I believe all of them do at one point or another, the bullet doesn't seem to faze them. Even nailing the hands of one to a chair isn't enough to prevent him from later grabbing hold of the steering wheel of a car for the final scene. And the final scene is just a rip off of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

This movie is a huge waste of time and money. I suggest a trip to the Baghdad market if you want to see violence of this calibre.』

(A twisted horror masterpiece!)
『If you are offended by the F-Bomb, disgusted by dead animals and unfathomable filth, frightened by the thoughts of a serial killer dressed as a clown ala John Wayne Gacy, or appalled at onscreen murder and torture, then this is not the movie for you.

A psychotic family on a secluded ranch are awaken one morning by a police raid led by acerbic small town Sheriff Rydell (Williams Forsythe). What the law will soon find is not only the tens of missing people, but also the results of the most heinous mass murdering spree in U.S. history. When Rydell only manages to capture the family matriarch - Mother Firefly (Leslie Easterbrook) - his personal vendetta, which has a taken on Captain Ahab proportions, burns his desire for justice asunder.

The remaining family members are perhaps the most disturbed group of sociopathic killers ever. Led by foul mouthed father Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), a quick-witted pervert who paints his face like a clown; the other two are brother Otis (Bill Moseley), a wraith-like psychopath with grungy hair (he looks like a Rob Zombie album cover); and sister Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie), a blonde bombshell who disarms with her beauty and surprises with her sadism. The trio wreaks havoc upon all they encounter, and abuse the world about them without remorse or hesitation. When Sheriff Rydell enlists the help of criminal mercenaries - played brilliantly by the duo of Danny Trejo and Diamond Dallas Page - the explosive situation runs its course in a heart-stopping finale.

Everything is near perfection, and Devil's Rejects has the feel of an older horror movie. With one Texas Chainsaw Massacre homage after another, there is definite respect paid to 70s and 80s horror (i.e. several unnecessary T&A shots, stupid people die, over-the-top sadism). Even Michael Berryman, original creepy bald guy from The Hills Have Eyes, makes an appearance as a pimp's right-hand man. The pacing of the movie falls right in line with theme, even providing a few freeze-frames mixed in so viewers can absorb the carnage. The blood and gore are all present, and just enough to satisfy the gorehound. The acting is top notch, believable, and downright scary. The lengths to which Haig, Moseley, and Zombie go to make everyone loathe them is outstanding; in their attempts at evil and wickedness, they are admirable.

Credit goes to Rob Zombie for making a captivating tale of evil, and for a creation that not only resembles the work of Tarantino, but rivals it as well. Highly recommended for the demented - one of the best horror movies of the past several years.』

(Rob Zombie should have paid Karen Black whatever she wanted!)
『OK I love this movie, I guess it's hard to tell that from the title of my review but it's true. I just think it could have been better if it had better actresses, namely better actresses than Sherri Moon and Leslie Easterbrook. Since Sherri is the director's wife I guess she can't be replaced but she should, because I never bought the whole Baby Firefly character that Sherri was trying to portray. I think the character could have been effective if Sherri had portrayed her as more of a tough Texas redneck girl but instead Sherri Moon's character just seems like a dumb blonde Valley girl. And don't get me started on Leslie Easterbrook! I don't know what Zombie was thinking to cast Easterbrook as Mother Firefly instead of Karen Black. Black was great as Mama in House of 1,000 Corpses. Black was sexy, funny, with a touch of evil and most importantly of all she KNOWS how to ACT. Easterbrook doesn't know how to act, overact and scream yes, but act no! Ok these are the negative aspects of the Devils' Rejects let's get to the good elements: Bill Moseley as Otis B. Driftwood totally steals this movie. Moseley is downright frightening in his role. He reminds me so much of Charles Manson with his long wild hair and wicked beard. Rob Zombie did a great job in changing the character of Otis from House of 1,000 Corpses. He made Otis more realistic and therefore scarier! The part where Otis humiliates and brutalizes the country music band in the motel is very realistic and disturbing. The character of Otis is evil and repulsive and Moseley plays the character perfectly. Another great acting job is done by Bill Forsythe as Sheriff Wydell, the lawman who seeks revenge against the Devil's Rejects for the murder of Wydell's brother in House of 1,000 corpses. Forsythe is hilarious when he chews out the movie critic and threatens to kick his ass for saying something bad about Elvis!! LOL! The movie itself is a combination of a horror and revenge movie. The movie is not exactly original but it is better than its predecessor House of 1,000 Corpses. The best thing about this movie is the way that Rob Zombie has changed the face of horror. Thank God that Zombie got rid of those awful tongue-in-cheek crap movies like Scream and I know what you did last summer. Zombie's horror is honest and in your face and it's exactly what we horror fans have been waiting for!』
『From the visionary mind of acclaimed musician Rob Zombie comes Lions Gate Films The Devil's Rejects the gritty violent follow-up to Zombie s smash horror hit House of 1000 Corpses. Written and directed by Zombie The Devil's Rejects reunites the homicidal members of the Firefly family tracing their bloody flight from an outlaw sheriff hell-bent on revenge.System Requirements:Run Time: 109 minsFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: HORROR Rating: UNRATED UPC: 031398195078 Manufacturer No: 19507』
『Homicidal maniacs have a field day in Rob Zombie'sThe Devil's Rejects, an ultraviolent spin-off from Zombie's critically reviled 2003 debut,House of 1,000 Corpses. As Zombie continues to cultivate his name-brand variety of extreme horror and splatter-film homage, he definitely takes his place among connoisseurs of carnage. In the case ofThe Devil's Rejects, several characters from1,000 Corpsesreturn for another marathon of mayhem, as the murderous Firefly family (led by Sid Haig as the maniacal "Captain Spaulding") turn their bloody wrath against hostages in a fleabag motel, while the local sheriff (William Forsythe) plots revenge against them for the killing of his brother. Before their inevitable showdown, Zombie has plenty of fun--perhaps a little too much fun--indulging his penchant for sick, sadistic humor and gruesome atrocity. Clearly, Zombie fancies himself as horror's answer to Quentin Tarantino, but he lacks Tarantino's gift for riveting plots and escalating tension. Instead,The Devil's Rejectsis just raw, rampant excess from start to finish, paying visual tribute to gruesome classics from the '70s and guaranteed to earn the cult status that Zombie is all too obviously aiming for. He's an unabashed horror buff who's carving a niche in the genre he loves, shamelessly satisfying a small but loyal audience of sicko-phants.--Jeff Shannon

(Excellent Picture Quality)
『You can read other reviews for the story line and the strengths and weaknesses of the film. This is a flawed film in many ways, yet it is a fascinating and brave film. Todd Browning deserves credit for raising the questions presented here and for treating the actors with dignity.

I have seen this movie a few times, usually on Turner Classic Movies. I was pleasently surprised with this edition. The picture and sound quality was much better than I was expecting.

Be aware this film is not to everyone's taste. Some won't be able to get past the less than stellar acting. Others may feel the unfortunate displayed here were exploited. Keep in mind Todd Browning was a member of a traveling circus in his early years and this is a heartfelt effort by him to bring understanding to those who he worked with.』

(A Movie of Revenge and Morality)
『Knowing the history of this film, I am extremely disappointed that we will never see the Tod Brownings original version before it was mutilated by the studio. Yes, the severe editing leaves many unanswered questions and the happy ending should have involved the "freak" troupe rather than the sugary focus on main characters. Still, it is a movie that is hard to look away from. Some would say fascinating and others would say a train wreck but it keeps my attention either way.

Having watched this a couple of times with others, I am impressed with the fact that many get quickly bored and seek other entertainment (that is, walk out of the room). The movie does start out very slowly. In addition, several of the actors speak in a tinny voice that is difficult if not impossible to understand. You can buy the script online for around $20 bucks if you are really interested in all of the dialogue. I prefer to save the $20 and guess.

My favorite characters are Henry Earles and Schlitze. If you don't love these two guys, then you simply don't posses a heart. Henry and his sister Daisy of course went on to appear in the Wizard of Oz as munchkins.

This is a simple morality play with a simplified script. It is always listed as a horror show but we know better. As previously noted, it has been alleged that most of the great scenes were clipped from the movie. Too bad. Nevertheless, the remaining scenes are still classic and everyone should take a turn at viewing this. Maybe it is your cup or tea or maybe not. For the price of a fast-food meal, what's the harm?

I hope you find this opinion helpful.

(POOR QUALITY)
『Love the movie, but this so called ENHANCED VERSION is really poor quality. so bad you can hardly view it! Get te orginal release its much better.』

(Great 1930s movie)
『This was a great movie. It has a busy story line and multiple characters. One thing you will need to do is turn the volume on your tv up. The sound is very quiet at some parts compared to newer movies. Excellent if you appreciate older movies and old fashioned beauty.』

(We accept her, one of us!)
『Let me start off by saying that anyone who thinks this movie was exploiting the actors is ignorant. Tod Browning was obviously trying to paint them in a positive light, he was trying to show that these people are human beings just like the rest of us and should not be treated any differently. This is a great, classic film that focuses around characters rather than plot. That's not to see there isn't a plot, far from it, but in my opinion when a film focuses on the characters its usually a sign that it's going to be good. I don't want to ruin too much of the plot, but the gist of it is that there's a group of sideshow performers, or freaks, that have formed a community for themselves in a traveling circus. One of them, a dwarf named Hans, falls in love with a more typical human being and things spiral from there. The cinematography is mostly basic but there's a few scenes that are actually quite sophisticated. The film is is a social criticism on humanity's morality, or lack thereof, when dealing with so-called "freaks". It's a little slow in some parts, but the charactrs suck you in and the film is great.』
『TREACHERY IS DISCOVERED AMONGST A TRAVELING CIRCUS SIDESHOW.』
『Tod Browning, who directed Bela Lugosi in the originalDracula, stepped into even eerier territory with this 1932 story of betrayal and retribution in the circus. Evil trapeze artist Olga Baclanova seduces and marries a midget in the circus sideshow, hoping to inherit his wealth. But in doing so, she has crossed the wrong folks: the tightly knit group of nature's aberrations, who stick together like family--and who set out to avenge their little pal. Browning brought in some of the most famous sideshow attractions of the era, include Siamese twins Daisy and Violet Hilton and Johnny Eck the Legless Boy, as well as Zip and Pip, microcephalics whose appearance in this film inspired cartoonist Bill Griffith to create his comic strip, "Zippy the Pinhead." So disturbing that it was banned for 30 years in Great Britain.--Marshall Fine

(Good)
『Can't argue with the movie, it followed the old Friday the 13th very well and added some more good stuff to it that it didn't destroy the movie/story.』

(Another Remake That Falls Flat)
『The first few original "Friday The 13th" films (before they started milking the cash cow with endless crappy sequels) were some of the scariest fare to ever come out of the horror genre. Building off the success of the original slasher film, "Halloween", this franchise created a character (in Jason Voorhees) that actually has an interesting backstory, making him even more terrifying. Those first five or so installments had everything a great horror movie needs: a decent plotline, a little skin, and some "jump out of your seat" moments. Plus, and this is not to be underestimated, they had that "early 80s movie" feel to them, as the camera work was very simple and the film quality wasn't pristine, only adding to the scare factor.

Sadly, though, this remake (directed by Marcus Nispel) fails to hit any of the hallmarks that the originals made famous. Perhaps the failure of Rob Zombie's "Halloween" remakes should have been a clue, but I guess viewers (once again) had to learn the hard way that some films just don't need to be remade. Basically, there are two ways to undertake these sorts of projects: Either a "re-make", which this tries to be, or a "re-boot" (like the latest Star Trek), which this film probably should have been but couldn't because of the iconic Jason character.

Besides matching the originals in the nudity department (and whether that is a positive feature is debatable!), this new version fails in every other regard. The story is completely ripped off from the original few flicks, there really are no great "jump moments" that can hold a candle to those done in the past, and the cinematography is actually too "clean and tidy"...there's no grittiness to it at all. Not helping matters is the fact that besides Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker, who turn in fine acting performances, the rest of the cast is uninspiring in all their respective roles...nothing more than fodder to be eventually slashed by Jason.

Perhaps the biggest downfall of the entire film experience, though, is the fact that the Jason character is such an icon in the horror genre that there really is no way to either make him better or even match the original. Once again, it's kind of like the Halloween remake...people don't dress up to trick or treat like Zombie's Michael Myers. Instead, they are wearing the old William Shatner mold from the originals. The same concept can be applied to Jason...he terrified us with the tied bag over the head (and then the hockey mask) at first, so why would the exact same thing two decades later be any better?

Thus, about the only good thing I see coming from this film is the possibility that it may "inspire" a new audience to discover the great originals. However, it will more than likely drive potential fans away due to all its shortcomings.』

(No Digital Copy included!!!)
『I ordered this "Digital Copy Edition" for the iTunes Digital Copy primarily, with the thought that I could use the Blu-Ray disk when got a Blu-Ray player.
Well, the version I received didn't come with a digital copy. The seller NEVER replied to my inquiries about it. It's been weeks now with no reply at all.
Ultimately, Amazon refunded my full purchase price without asking for the disk back.
So, I ended up with a free Blu-Ray disk, and using my $15 refund was able to purchase the digital copy directly from iTunes.
I would rate the movie closer to 4 1/2 stars as I consider it a great update on the old campy classic franchise. As much as I enjoyed some of the installments in that series, I really felt like this version updated the characters very well and brought them into the new age of horror/slasher films we've come to enjoy in recent years.』

The Cast was A Bit off All the Victims look like they walked off a GAP Photo shoot (Way to Pretty look like Actors)
Jared Padalecki (who i like) What is This Supernatural goes to Camp Blood where's his Brother Dean Winchester?????
Just stick to the Original Films from Paramount

New Line seems 2 have forgotten That the Horror Genre put them on The Map as a Major Studio That could Draw Big Money
It wasn't Hobbits looking for Rings!
They Buried The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a Unnecessary Re-Make
Now Friday The 13th What's next???????????
Stay Far away from this worthless Film!
Horror Fans Need 2 Scream Out Enough And Stop going to all These Re-Makes
Maybe then ALL the Studios will Stop Beating a Dead Horse and come up with Original Ideas and Story Lines
Without a Doubt the worst Entry so far 1/10』

(Expect The Expected: Sex, killing, Sex, Sex&Sex *sigh*)
『Okay, There are a dozen Friday 13th movies out there, okay? So there's really nothing new, you got Jason and a couple of college-aged, horny kids who decide to camp or take a vacation at the wrong place and get sliced and diced. This is how its ALWAYS been. I'm not complaining, i'm just trying to make you aware of what you should expect by now if you've seen all the previous ones. There is really no difference.

Jason In my opinion was actually pretty brutal in this one. He's got some new moves. There was one gruesome murder that i couldnt watch becuase it just seem like such a BAD way to die. ugh!! Overall it was pretty good movie, i wouldnt buy it, but i would rent it, like maybe on netflix or something.

Parts That Annoyed Me:
Okay, i get it that alot of guys LOVE to see bouncing breasts, Vaginas, and other sex scenes, and i get that producers or directors add that kind of stuff into movies to get high ratings, but its like every five minutes you see a naked chick. I can NEVER watch a movie nowadays without a sex scene popping up anymore. What's up with this generation? All the sex doesnt bother me that much, however i was glad that i watched the movie alone to avoid feeling awkward in front of my parents and sister. I guess you can call me old fashion even though i'm 23, but all that crap was just uncalled for, really. if youre a guy reading this, i don't expect you to understand my view.

As for the Racist comments that people say about this movie, well it wasnt that bad, however i didnt think that all racial situations was really necessary either. Again, why can't I watch a movie with a black guy in it but at same time being withdrawn from ANY kind of racial parts? why couldnt the black guy be treated like the rest of the white fokes in it? i don't get it. They had an asian guy in there too, however they failed to do any racial parts for him, so i guess movies just arent nice to black fokes.

As for the asian kid, His character was a bit awkward, like he was desperately trying his hardest to fit in with the group. The character just seemed very weird and out of place. NOt that actual actor but the character he played.』

『FRIDAY THE 13TH 2009 BLU-RAY (BLU-RAY DISC)』
『If you thought a bigger budget and an A-list producer (Michael Bay) would go to Jason's head, well, forget it. The indestructible villain of so many bottom-of-the-barrel shockers isn't about to change his shtick, and the 2009Friday the 13thproves it. This, the umpteenth sequel (nope, it's not a remake of the origin story) to the original 1980 movie, gives us a clever prologue that manages to fit an entire Jason Voorhees killing spree in a brisk and bloody 20 minutes. Jumping ahead six weeks, the film introduces a carload of clueless teens headed for a weekend at a lakeside cabin, plus a lone motorcyclist (Jared Padalecki) in search of his missing sister (Amanda Righetti). When the "lakeside" happens to refer to Crystal Lake, of course, there can be only one outcome. Cue the hockey mask, and pass the machete. Bay and director Marcus Nispel, who collaborated on theTexas Chainsaw Massacreremake, are surprisingly indifferent to changing up the formula this time, although there's more care taken in building up a few characters, and for once the comic relief (mostly supplied by Aaron Yoo and Arlen Escarpeta) is pretty funny. You might even regret the slaughter of a couple of these young folk, which is an unusual feeling inFriday-watching. The film's Jason is quite the athletic fellow, and he's assembled an elaborate underground corpse-hiding lair in the vicinity of Crystal Lake. How he's been able to live down there for 30 years (if the film's own timeline is to be believed) and had enough unwitting campers pass by to keep himself entertained is anybody's guess. But if they keep coming, he'll keep slashing.--Robert Horton

Also on the disc
The Blu-ray disc includes both the extended Killer Cut (which is 106 minutes compared to 97) and the theatrical cut, though it defaults to play the Killer Cut; if you want the theatrical cut, you have to select it on the special-features menu. It's hard to imagine choosing to watch the theatrical cut, however. In addition to some more of Amanda Righetti and of Jason, the extra nine minutes is mostly more gore in the gory scenes and more sex in the sexy scenes. If you're squeamish you might not want those things, but if you're that squeamish you probably don't want to watchFriday the 13thin the first place, right? The longer cut will give you more of the stuff that you probably watch this movie for. But the theatrical cut is on the disc if you want it, as well as a couple of 11-minute featurettes on the new movie and the franchise, three deleted scenes (a different version of Jason getting his mask, the police response to the phone call, and a revised climax), and "The 7 Best Kills," which provides behind-the-scenes info on key deaths. A commentary track, which combines movie and franchise trivia with picture-in-picture footage of crew members discussing the film, is pretty sporadic (it tends to appear more frequently on the important scenes) and repeats some of the info in other features (which is pretty common). There's also a second disc with a Digital Copy of the film, and additional features on BD-Live.--David Horiuchi

(x-files series)
『This is an excdellent series and I now have all the seasons plus the movies.』

(Action)
『The last 3 episodes to this show is sure to keep you interested, which only gets better when you get to the next disc for some blindsided tales....』

(A Science Fiction Classic)
『If you are a fan of Fringe, you will love X-Files. Even if you've seen the show, watch it again! It's soooo good. The slim case for the season is very convenient. The only issue is a lack of special features, but nobody thought about special features when this was filmed so it's forgivable haha. This is a must-have.』

(The third best season of X-files)
『Excellent season, X-files hits its stride, peaking in seasons 4 and 5. The packaging it comes in is also very well put together and probably why the sets are now so cheap compared to just a few years ago.』

(NEW PACKAGING)
『Just bought seasons 3&4 to ad to our collection and I was at first excited to see a reduced price...
The packaging is different, rather than the previous slim sets (as advertised) the packaging is now a thin 6 disc set (which I only found listed on the web page in one place after I went back to look). Same great show, just very disappointed in Amazon and their deceptive web page.』

『This season, series creator Chris Carter expanded the mythology with plots like the alien black oil and Scully's implant, but also further developed the show's trademark humor and continued to explore paranormal possibilities.』
『By its third season,The X-Fileshad grown from a cult hit to a global phenomenon, becoming the most popular show in many countries outside the U.S. Armed with the knowledge that the show was here to stay, series creator Chris Carter expanded its mythology, and the 24 episodes in this boxed set represent arguably the strongest of all theX-Filesseasons. As usual, stand-alone episodes explored the paranormal and sometimes terrifying possibilities in mythology, pop culture, and religion. Darin Morgan helps the show to mature by expanding its use of humor, directing classic episodes such as "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" (featuring a fabulous performance from Peter Boyle) and "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space.'" Meanwhile, two-part episodes continue to delve into theX-Files' own mythology, introducing the alien black oil, the implant in Scully's neck, the mysterious Agent X, and the shape-shifting Jeremiah Smith. But following the complex mythology is not crucial to enjoying the show. The strength of theX-Fileslies not in resolution but in feeding the paranoia of its rabid audience by revealing conspiracies that linger in the mind as unanswered questions. Series creator Carter realized wisely that fans did not look to theX-Filesto explain the unexplained, but to question that which they thought they understood. The third season was effective because it hinted that while the truth was out there, it was more complex, sinister, and amazing than even Mulder had imagined.--Eugene Wei
