However the video quality on the Blu-ray is pretty disappointing. Very grainy, never once really looked like a high-def video even in bright scenes. But what makes it even worse is that there are no extras whatsoever. No commentary, no deleted scenes, nothing besides some previews. Sad,sad, sad. At least it was cheap.』
("I've Given Your Life a Purpose") 『Initially I will admit that I had no desire whatsoever to watch 'Saw'. My expectations were that it was going to be nothing more than just another one of those splatter films whose sole aim was to nauseate and repulse the audience.
Miracle of miracles, I happened to be wrong. While the gore element is there, for the most part it is an anticipated horror more than an actually realized one (at least by today's standards). For most of the film the terror and dread is psychological in nature and proceeds from an intelligent storyline and a thought-provoking script which dialogues with the audience on such concerns as the nature of life, death and what a person would be willing to do to retain ones life.
For me what really makes the film work is the protagonist nicknamed Jigsaw. While his actions are indeed horrific and grotesque his reasoning comes across as rational, his goals subtle and his attention to detail flawless. Well worth a watch, or two.
My Rating: -3 1/2 Stars-.

(Great Film, One Of My Favorites) 『I love the Saw series, and I noticed that this was a really great price on the UMD format of the film. Overall I am satisfied with the product and I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys an intense, gruesome movie experience with a shocking ending!』
(Bloody but good!) 『The whole series is very, very gory, but at the same time has a very plausible plot line. Definitely falls within the "Psychological Thriller/Horror" genre. Plus, it has the cute Cary Elwes of "The Princess Bride" one of my favorite movies.』

Not a happy place, obviously, and it gets worse when both men realize that they've been chained and pitted against one another by an unseen but apparently omniscient maniac who's screwing with their psyches as payment for past sins. I have grudgingly accepted the use of reissue trailers for Universal's films because this seems to be all they have. The major problems are with Buck Privates and One Night In The Tropics. The cast title card for One Night In The Tropics is a replacement and so is the end title. Universal reached the height of laziness with this. The VHS release is all original. It appears they just use whatever print they find lying around at the time. Buck Privates is all original except for the last scene where superimposed on the picture is "re-released by Realart Pictures". This shows not just laziness, but no quality control, a don't care attitude, and a lack of respect for both the film and the consumer. The VHS has a Realart title card but the ending is clean. So they could of very easily used two prints to make one good whole print. That is what really infuriates me. Now I have to hold on to my old VHS. Is there anyone at Universal that really cares about what they put out? The only reason I knocked off one star is because of this problem. It sounds like Universal's "don't care" attitude continues, as evidenced by the problems with the new "complete" collection.』
(Great Classic Comedies) 『I love these old episodes! This is true comedy, nothing like much of the trash that is being produced today (just my opinion).』
(Abbott&Costello #3) 『More laughter - can't get enough - more in the series. Never duplicated again by anyone - they are the original - funny!!!!』
("Abbboooooott!") 『I picked this up last Christmas for a family member. At their zenith, Abbott and Costello were the best comedy team in pictures and on radio. Charlie Chaplin praised their genius, and Groucho Marx remarked that Bud Abbott was the best straight man in the business. It wasn't highbrow comedy to be sure, but people loved watching the boys inadvertently get into a jam and make us laugh.
The country was at war during all the pictures included on this set, giving Americans some laughter to go along with the tears shed by many who discovered by ominous telegram that their loved one was not coming home. Much as Fred and Ginger helped get the country through the Great Depression, Bud and Lou got the people back home through WWII.
There are no duds here, as every film is funny and a nice pick-up for A&C fans. Bud and Lou were either getting mixed up in some crazy scheme, on the run from killers, or wrecking havoc in the U.S. Military. They got to play cowboy (Ride 'Em Cowboy), travel to the South Seas (Pardon My Sarong), solve a radio show murder (Who Done It?), and spend the night in a haunted house (Hold that Ghost).
After catapulting to stardom in One Night in the Tropics, the studio immediately gave them over to Uncle Sam in Buck Privates. With help from The Andrew Sisters, the boys wrecked havoc and overcame a slight script to secure their spot at the box office.
With help from Nat Pendleton and Shemp Howard, Slicker (Bud) and Herbie (Lou) poked fun at peeling potatoes and boot camp while The Andrew Sisters sang some breezy war songs and the classic, "I'll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time." It was lovely Jane Frazee who brightened the film up, however, as Alan Curtis and Bob Martin tried to win her heart. Her "I Wish You Were Here" musical number is a highlight.
In Pardon My Sarong Bud and Lou are a couple of Chicago bus drivers who take a detour to a tropical island with beautiful Virginia Bruce and Robert Paige. It is one of their most fun outings, Nan Wynn taking a shine to Lou while treasure hunter Lionel Atwill tries to lure him into a volcano! With the boys stranded on an island where every girl is named Luana, and Vera West dressing Virgina Bruce, this one is a can't miss for fans.
Who Done It? had our pals trying to break into radio as mystery writers for Murder at Midnight. Louise Albritton, Mary Wickes, Patrick Knowles, William Gargen, and William Bendix offer great support as a real murder occurs during a broadcast of the show, and Chick and Mervin play detective while attempting to avoid the real cops so they can get their big break. It holds a special place in the heart of all old radio fans, and there are some hilarious bits from the boys along the way; they even take a moment to poke fun at themselves. And the identification Lou produces to collect on a radio contest is a riot!
Many regard Hold that Ghost as the boy's best. When Bud and Lou lose their jobs as waiters in a fancy nightclub, they go back to pumping gas. Circumstance lands them in the car of gangster Moose Malloy when he bites the dust. Since his will leaves everything, including a hidden fortune everyone is after, to the last people with him at his demise, hilarity can't be far behind.
Lovely "B" favorite Evelyn Ankers and the very funny Joan Davis join Bud and Lou as they head to the hotel they've inherited. Richard Carlson's bookish scientist joins them at the tavern during a storm while gangsters try to find the stash and and scare off the boys. Joan Davis is especially good as a "screamer" from the movies who may be as big a coward as Lou. Their crazy dance together to the Blue Danube is a riot! Ankers and Carlson have the straight parts as she tries to get him to take off his glasses long enough to realize what is right before his eyes.
Universal gave this one everything it had, including The Andrew Sisters, who get to sing "Sleepy Serenade" and the Brazilian, "Aurora." This one is a lot of fun to watch, not a dull moment anywhere in sight. Fans of Bud and Lou have to own this one, making this set indispensable. A combination of great Abbott and Costello films every fan should own!』
(Reflections of a bygone era) 『The first DVD collection of eight A&C movies with Universal Recording Studios is truly memorable. The mainstays of this collection are the three service films, Buck Privates, In The Navy and Keep 'em Flying. These films harken back to a time when Hollywood actually showed patriotism, unlike the liberal-run Hollywood of today, which uses movies to sabotage national pride. One can certainly feel the pride and admiration of our armed forces shining through. The Andrews Sisters' "You're a lucky fellow, Mr. Smith" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" are a testament to this patriotic attitude. Today's Hollywood crowd can take lessons from these films.
The very first film to showcase A&C, A Night in The Tropics, does not feature the boys, but rather centers around a love insurance ploy, with A&C as minor characters performing routines sprinkled throughout the movie for laughs. And no doubt, the laughs come in bunches. Although much maligned for not featuring A&C, the film is actually pretty good, standing on its own merit. Plus it's notable since it represents A&C debut on the big screen.
Hold That Ghost propels A&C into the direction of comedy terror, and foreshadows later "A&C MEET..." films. The boys here play heirs to a gangsters bequeathment, which they stumble onto in a right place/right time situation. As usual, A&C films have their share of political incorrectness, in this case Ted Lewis singing in a night club "Me And My Shadow", with his very black sidekick mimicking his every move behind him. AWESOME.
Next the boys delve into the comedy western genre in Ride' Em Cowboy. This film sees the boys head off to a dude ranch to get their many laughs. Highlighting this film is Costello's hysterical ride of a wild bucking bronco. Meanwhile, the politically incorrectness here has Costello spending the enire film eluding Red Indians, "those darned Redskins" as the calls them. Not too flattering portrayal of Indians, but so what. It's funny. Get over it. Ride 'Em Cowboy is also significant because it represents a young, unknown singer's first appearance on screen, entertaining a busload of vacationers with "A Tisket A Tasket, My Green and Yellow Basket". She would eventually move on to international prominence and fame. Abbott&Costello can boast launching the career of this young, up&coming star, Ella Fitzgerald!
Pardon My Sarong I have always felt is one of A&C's most underrated, underappreciated movies. The boys manage to steal a Chicago bus, and through fate and misfortune end up on a tropical island dodging jewel thieves. POLITICALLY INCORRECT MOMENT: A singing quartet of black dudes billing themselves The Four Ink Spots! Gotta love it. Try that today, Hollywood.
Capping off this DVD release is A&C's first of two murder mysteries, Who Done It (the other being A&C Meet the Killer, which can be found on DVD SET THREE). Here the boys play amateur detectives to solve the murder of a radio station executive.
A&C films certainly reflect the values and refreshing insensitivity of the 1940s. Anyone wanting to get a taste of how it used to be should get these films; highly recommended.

(H5: The last good sequel in the franchise) 『Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers was the last Halloween film that had a good story and good actors. It picks up one year after the events of Halloween 4. Donald Pleasence is back as Dr. Loomis and Danielle Harris returns as Michael's niece Jaime Lloyd and the two of them together make the movie. The opening credits were done very well. Wendy Kaplan (Tina) takes over the heroine role from Ellie Cornell (Rachel), and she does a fine job. Jaime has been in a children's hospital after stabbing her stepmother in H4. Dr. Loomis attributes this to Michael Myers having a certain power over her. The laundry chute scene is the most memorable, scary sequence here as was the rooftop scene in Halloween 4. There is also a mysterious figure walking around in H5 dressed in black which adds a sense of mystery and intrigue. Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers would try to sew up the events in H5, but most people were disappointed with the end result. I liked the actors in H6, but the story was poorly executed. There were major disagreements and major cuts to the film before theatrical release and it shows. There is a Producer's Cut floating around out there which is much more interesting and enjoyable, but it has yet to be released officially. Also, Danielle Harris is absent in the role of Jaime Lloyd which is another disappointment. Still, H6 had some scary, suspenseful moments to it. Michael Myers had a great look, the music score was done nicely and the atmosphere/cinematography were also impressive. But ultimately, the story was what hurt H6 the most. Certain aspects weren't treated with enough care. So to me, H5 was the final Halloween film to be on par with everything. My one complaint about H5 was the blue house they used as Michael Myers home. It broke continuity and did not resemble the previous house at all. H20 is highly regarded because it marked the return of Jamie Lee Curtis. I did enjoy that film for her alone, but H20 has the look and feel of a Scream film, and it's hard to take it as a serious horror movie. The theme music was altered in that one as well. Halloween: Resurrection and Rob Zombie's Halloween just don't make the cut either. They are even worse. Compared to the ones that followed, H5 deserves 4.5 stars as a horror film.』
(Not bad at all...) 『I know many people think that Halloween 5 is one of the worst entries in the Halloween franchise but I have to disagree. I would have to say that this film is actually one of my favorite Halloweens. Sure it has its problems (the random and pointless change in the Myers house, the overly goofy policemen, and the introduction of the man in black) but it also has plenty of good things (great acting from Danielle Harris and Donald Pleasence, the awesome character of Tina - played by Wendy Kaplan, and some truly frightening sequences). I would suggest watching the previous Halloween films beforehand or else you'll be totally lost. If you don't know what happens in Halloween 6, you may feel a little lost and confused by the ending (like I said, this film ain't perfect). But if you're a horror/slasher fan, keep an open mind and just enjoy Halloween 5.』
(Halloween 5 Revenge of Michael Myers) 『I like this movie as well and it has a really good storyline too. I like the death scenes in the movie also. I would recommend this movie.』 『MICHAEL LIVES. AND THIS TIME, THEY’RE READY! Now Remastered In HD And Featuring An All-New Audio Commentary! Because Hell would not have him, Michael Myers survived the mine explosion thought to have killed him. One year later, his traumatized young niece Jamie (Danielle Harris of HALLOWEEN 4) is horrified to discover she has a telepathic bond with her evil Uncle…and that Uncle Michael is on his way back to Haddonfield. But Dr. Loomis (the late, great Donald Pleasence) has a new plan to destroy The Boogey Man in his childhood home using Jamie as bait. Tonight, the carnage begins again: Michael Myers is back with a vengeance! Ellie Cornell and Beau Starr return for this hit sequel that features grisly gore by K.N.B. EFX Group (ARMY OF DARKNESS, SCREAM, HOSTEL), and is now fully remastered in DiviMax™ for the ultimate in Michael Myers mayhem!』 『Starting aroundHalloween 4, that masked nut Michael Myers stopped chasing his sister (played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the first and second films, as well asHalloween H20) and went after his niece. Now he's chasing her around again in part 5, but it's a lot of other people who die in the process. Donald Pleasence continues his mad-doctor bit from the earlier movies, Danielle Harris is the unfortunate relation, and Donald L. Shanks plays the monster. The film is an improvement on parts 2 and 4 (part 3 having nothing to do with Michael Myers), but it still amounts to routine slaughter with none of John Carpenter's stylistic brilliance from the original movie.--Tom Keogh』

DIRECTED BY STAR THOMAS JANE, IT WAS INTENDED TO BE SHOWN IN 3-D IN THEATERS BUT WENT STRAIGHT TO DVD, WHICH MAY EXPLAIN SOME OF THE ODD LIGHTING AND CAMERA WORK. THERE IS SOME HOT SEX SCENES TO ACCOMPANY THE SOMEWHAT MUDDLED STORY. THE MOVIE'S TWIST ENDING IS PRETTY OBVIOUS, BUT HOW WE GET THERE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. IS THERE SOME KIND OF TIME LOOP? IS JANE VICTIM OR VILLAIN. JANE'S GOOD IN HIS ROLE AS IS LAURA GERMANN AS HIS NEW BRIDE BUT RON PERLMAN'S CAMEO IS POINTLESS. I WISH A STRONGER RESOLUTION MAY HAVE BROUGHT CLOSURE INSTEAD OF ENIGMA.』
(TWILIGHT...AS IN ZONE) 『Some movies smack you square in the face, presenting everything up front and knocking the wind out of you with the scares they have to offer. Others offer a slow boil, brewing away, giving you information one piece at a time. The clues are there but for some reason they never seem to show themselves clearly until the end. DARK COUNTRY is one such film.
Thomas Jane (who also directed) is Richard, a man we know little about other than that he just met the love of his life in Vegas named Gina (Lauren German) and the pair have united in holy matrimony. Waking the next morning, they prepare to move on down the road by driving at night to avoid the heat of the desert. In true film noir fashion, Richard narrates the film and gives his perspective now and then as to what is going on. The night time drive is one filled with discovery as the pair find out more about each other, something most people do prior to rather than after the wedding. During their discussion, the heat rises not only from the desert but from a tease Gina offers Richard that results in some erotic yet not non-nude goings on.
As they drive, Richard comments about the sky being so clear in the desert you can drive without your lights on. But when they click them back on the first thing they see is a man stumbling across the road in front of them. They swerve, barely avoiding him but enough to end up off the road. Going back to see if he is okay, they find him alive but banged up beyond recognition.
Further up the road they see his car overturned and realize he's been injured severely, most of his face a bloody pulp. They gather him up, place him in the back seat and head out to find help.
But as with all good episodes of the classic TV series TWILIGHT ZONE, everything is not what it seems. The victim wakes, at first screaming, then laughing and finally talking to his rescuers. His appearance makes Gina uncomfortable, understandably so. And as the trip progresses, he turns from thankful victim to attacker, resulting in a fight with Richard and his apparent death.
Deciding the best way to handle the situation is to simply bury him in the desert to avoid the police, the pair does so. It's not until later down the road that Richard realizes he buried his watch along with him. Returning to the burial site, they find the grave open and the victim gone.
It is here things turn even more strange with a roadside rest area, a major argument between the two leads and the culmination of posters seeking missing people that all come together. Add to the mix a state trooper played by Ron Perlman and the strangeness gets twisted and turned enough to hold your interest until the last reel unfolds.
The film plays to many of the classic film noir modes, offering the narration I mentioned earlier as well as looking at a seedier side of life that can not result in Disney type glory. These are battered people whose past lives make no difference but who breathe that lifestyle in all they say and do.
The film was shot in a special 3-D system (that doesn't transfer on DVD) that gives it a sort of SIN CITY look that bodes well for the tone of the film. The desert here feels hot, emitting an onscreen heat that you can feel while watching. The night feels strange as shot here. Both become not just scenes but characters in this story.
Jane and German do a great job in their roles. Jane as the love struck sap willing to do anything for the woman he thinks he loves. German as the seductive woman who sees the chance at a new life with a man who loves here. As I said before, these are not character traits that are explained but ones that develop from the characters we watch on screen.
The ending is something most viewers won't see coming. It caught me off guard, not startlingly so but in the surprise of it. Jane as director does a good job of letting this story come at you not in a rush but as a slow burn.
Not directly a title for Halloween, but perhaps one that would be good leading up to that mysterious holiday. DARK COUNTRY, while not a perfect film, offers what few movies these days will do. It's a slowly unfolding tale that directs the viewer down the paths it chooses as opposed to what they want. And that disturbing journey is one worth taking for a night's rental.

(Yikes!!) 『I like the Twilight Zone, and I like low budget horror, but I did not like this movie.
Was this supposed to be like Sin City, the Twilight Zone, or old fashion film noir? It did not look "low budget," it looked computer generated. It was comic book in style and cinematography, but had plot elements of film noir and low class horror movies (complete with soft core porn). And the acting was subpar, even if they were trying to overact in B movie style, it was barely competent. Yet all together I felt the film had an identity crisis (how could that be with so much inspiration!?!!?). This film wanted to be in the vein of Grind House's Death Proof/Planet Terror but ended up being a mess of too many genres fighting for too many directions that ends with a too long car chase scene. This movie was boring at parts and uninteresting/unbelievable at others.

(The Shark Roars Again) 『Seriously, the mother shark roars about five times once she's on screen and yet we still criticize the fourth movie? The only Jaws movie where the shark doesn't roar seems to be 2 (I thought I heard the shark roar in the first one [not the scene where the shark sinks to the bottom after being killed] but I maybe wrong). The script/story, though a joke, is at least a breath of fresh air than just rehashing the first one like 2 did. At least there's a surprise when after the baby shark dies, they reveal that its mother is somewhere in the park. The most fun I do have watching this movie is pointing out the effects that were supposed to be 3-D (seeing as how the effect of 3-D doesn't translate that well to home video) and stuff that the shark isn't supposed to be able to do (like roar and being able to go in reverse when inside the pipe). A very young Dennis Quaid is the elder Brody in this outing, working at Sea World (though which Sea World I don't know but I'm guessing its Florida). He's probably the best actor out of the bunch as everyone else, especially Louis Gossett, comes off as bland. At least they got some of the characterizations right, like Sean's being afraid of the water (he did see a girl get eaten right in front of him). I wish I could enjoy this one to the fullest but everytime they're underwater, I can't see a thing, even the shark is shrouded in the murkyness of the cinematography.』
(Even one whole star is pushing it!) 『About as bad as bad can get Jaws #3 is a 3d extravaganza gimmic back in the mid-80's. While one can have fun with this film , if they no what they're getting into , but impossible to take seriously. Why Fox put this 3d film on dvd in a non 3d manor is beyond me.』
(Well, it's not THAT bad . . .) 『The only things that are bad about this film are the over-the-top 3D effects used for the 3D theaters (the shark breaking the window, for example). Otherwise, this isn't really a bad film (You want bad? Watch the third Jaws sequel). The acting is only so-so, but who cares? The shark is what's the main attraction. There are tons of blood and gore (as much as there is in the first film), and the music is just as eerie and compelling. So it's not as good as the first Jaws, but at least it's more entertaining than Jaws: The Revenge.』

(Hope you have lots of room) 『This awesome boxed is a must for those who don't have the series on DVD already, I picked up the first 2 seasons in the slim packs about a month ago and got hooked. I was 8 when the series started so I missed it on FOX, too bust watching Buffy when I got older, lol. At around 9 lbs. this is a definate force to be reconed with, 62 disks, and no matter how you organize your DVD collection, this will stand out for sure. The box is beautiful, though mine was a bit scuffed, which isn't a hige deal seeing that this set has been out for several years. The goodies are OK, a vauge episode guide gives less info than the slim box sets, the comic book is decent, but it's age shows, the "art cards" are cool looking, there's 10 of them all from season 1, the theatrical poster fof "Fight the Future" is a good size, mine was bent at one corner, but again this set has probly been on the shelf at Amazon since release. Decently priced for what you get, 201 Episodes plus the season 5&6 arc movie, as well as the Mythologies documentaries. it works out to just [...] bucks a season, which if you look at the prices of the featureless slim sets, isn't at all terrible. I will need to pick up "I Want to Believe" after I'm done with the series, which, to be honest, could be quite a while.』
(Awesome.) 『This is a great show. New comers and vets alike should get this updated pack.』
(Totally Satisfied) 『I bought this for my husband for Father's Day, he loves it! He's wanted the set for so long and I was thrilled to be able to purchase it for him. It came packaged just as it appeared in the photos and I couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you.』
(XBox collection Delivered in Condition as promised) 『I was satisfied with what was delivered, its condition and all elements promised within. I will purchase from this vendor again』 『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 12/02/2008 Rating: Pg13』 『The definitive American television series of the '90s comes to the big screen with an anticlimactic whimper. And how could it be otherwise? Why should material so perfectly realized in one medium necessarily translate well into another? The series is crisply and thoughtfully executed in just about every detail, but the heart of its appeal lies in the elegant handling of complicated and evolving ongoing story lines, which is not something movies are especially good at. The big-screen drive for closure cramps the creative style, though it may also help nonfans get a grip on the proceedings. We do get some invigorating thrills and chills, however, and a more satisfying sense of the scale of an all-enveloping human-alien conspiracy than ever before, but there's no more plot development here than in an average two-part season-ending. FBI black sheep Mulder and Scully have been temporarily transferred from the X-Files project to an anti-terrorist unit to investigate an Oklahoma City-style bombing. They uncover a new wrinkle in the Syndicate/Cancer Man conspiracy--basically an attempt to help one bunch of (benign?) aliens fight off another bunch who want to colonize Earth. A spectacular, ice-bound finale thrillingly staged by series-veteran director Rob Bowman offers Mulder (but not a conveniently unconscious Scully) his first clear look at a You Know What, which in some quarters qualifies as an epochal event. Martin Landau offers the agents some crucial clues, and several familiar TV faces (including the Lone Gunmen and Mitch Pileggi's indispensable Assistant Director Skinner) turn up briefly to wink knowingly at faithful fans.--David Chute』

(Sledge Hammer is a laugh a minute!) 『I have loved this show since it first aired on TV back in the mid-eighties, and it is still just as great today as it was back then. David Rasche plays the title character Sledge Hammer and he is excellent as the parody of Dirty Harry style law enforcers. Harrison Page is fantastic in the role of Capt. Trunk, who's main gag is losing his cool and exploding in anger at the antics of Sledge, who you can guess is always causing trouble. Anne-Marie Martin is wonderful as Sledge's sidekick Dori Doreau, and she brings some much-needed balance and brains to the team. She also kicks some serious butt now and then too. Even the supporting cast is great. I cannot say enough good things about this show! In the famous words of Sledge Hammer, "Trust Me, I know what I'm doing!", and trust me when I say that you'll love Sledge Hammer! 』
(Sledge Hammer) 『If you remember this show from the '80's, then you know it was a cult classic. This was a spoof of the cop shows and movies of the '70's and '80's. Lots of humor and not very socially or politically correct. Very nice set of DVD's with commentary and additional footage. This is something you need in your collection. Buy it now...."trust me, I know what I am doing". Any show where the main character talks to his revolver, has to be good.』
(Sheer fun!) 『Wow!
This is so much fun. I bought it with suspicion, thinking it could be dated and that the fun and laughs I had when I watched these episodes back in the eighties may not be there anymore. But for such a low price, I went for it.
I was wrong. I enjoyed them even more, understanding how good this show was, how the actin and chemistry between the cast were top notch, how the brainless humour was not brainless at all! Fortunately, the laugh track was removed.
The extra are also very satisfactory.
』
(Brilliant!!!) 『I bought both "Sledge Hammer seasons" to my son for a birthday present...I don't remember how many times he said: "Thank you, thank you, thank youuu, it's sooo great, what a gift!!! (Must order them myself...) Janne/Sweden』 『In the fall of 1986, an unsuspecting TV nation met a new kind of comedy hero who made Rambo look like Pee Wee Herman. David Rasche starred as the trigger-happy lawman whose hatred of criminal scum and yogurt eatin’ creeps was matched only by his love of excessive force and a .44 Magnum. Over the next two seasons, this hilariously deranged lampoon of DIRTY HARRY and plenty of other targets became one of the most notorious series in television history and launched a rabid cult of fans that grows to this day. This is SLEDGE HAMMER! The complete first season of SLEDGE HAMMER! is now newly re-mastered (including removal of the laugh track) and loaded with an arsenal of exclusive extras that features uncensored footage, all-new interviews with stars David Rasche, Harrison Page and Anne-Marie Martin, audiocommentaries and more, all given the "Hammer" seal of approval by Series Creator&Executive Producer Alan Spencer.』 『The "Magnum Farce" ofSledge Hammeraims at deserving targets and scores a bull's eye every time. Thanks to DVD, one of the funniest, most unconventional sitcoms of the 1980s has been gloriously revived, with an abundance of bonus features that fans are going to love. This is sweet revenge given the show's original ABC time-slot, buried underMiami ViceandDallason Friday nights, but creator-producer Alan Spencer's savvy spoof ofDirty Harryhad critical praise in its favor when it premiered (with a senseless laugh track, mercifully deleted here) on September 23, 1986. Played to perfection by David Rasche and introduced with an infectious Danny Elfman theme song, Sledge is a trigger-happy male chauvinist pig (er, cop) in mismatched clothes who thinksThe Deer Hunteris a comedy, sleeps with his .44 Magnum (called simply "Gun"), drives a bullet-riddled sedan with an "I♥ Violence" bumper sticker, and somehow manages to always catch his quarry. "I'm a nihilist, not a stylist" he says (in the hilarious episode "Sledgepoo"), and that puts him at reckless odds with his lovely, karate-kicking partner Dori (played with flawless aplomb by former soap-star Anne-Marie Martin) and the vocally volcanic Capt. Trunk (Harrison Page, a slow-burn master and vital ingredient to the show's excellent casting).
Partly inspired byGet Smart!, Spencer and a host of talented writers and directors dished up consistent laughs and daring anarchy, challenging broadcast standards with topnotch spoofs of hit movies (in episodes titled "Witless," "Jagged Sledge," "The Color of Hammer," etc.) while familiar guest stars like John Vernon, Brion James, Clint Howard, Michael De Barres, and Mary Woronov raised the comedy quotient even higher. After a deliberately outrageous, go-for-broke season finale it's a miracle that the low-ratedSledge Hammer!was renewed for a second season, but Anchor Bay's DVDs do justice to the show's enduring quality, and Spencer's commentaries (on four episodes) rank among the funniest ever recorded (one of them during an earthquake, no less). All in all, this is one of the most delightful DVD surprises of 2004, with more fun to come in season 2.--Jeff Shannon』

(the mummy widescreen collection) 『Came very fast damage free kind of hate that shipping is 3 times what i paid for dvd』
(The Mummy is fun for all) 『Love "The Mummy",a great ride. Endless fun movie. So much fun,I had to get "The Return Of The Mummy". So you see the endless fun keeps going on&I hope the ride never ends.』
(Great service) 『The product was delivered earlier than I expected Great service And what I had ordered』
(Good film) 『This is still the best of the 3 mummy movies. I thought the film looked great in Blu-Ray. Very crisp and detailed. I always liked the chemistry between Rachel Weisz (one of my favorite actresses) and Brendan Fraser. The special effects throughout the film are very good. Sometimes the acting and script is a little too cheesy, and the John Hannah character can be very annoying (he plays Rachel Weisz' brother in the film), but the filmmakers were obviously going for the Indiana Jones "matinee" feel so it's forgivable. Not a great film but fun. I believe Rachel Weisz carries this film, however, and it wouldn't have worked without her.』 『Deep in the egyptian desert, a handful of people searching for a long-lost treasure have just unearthed a 3,000 year old legacy of terror. Special features: feature-length audio commentary with director and editor: egyptology 101: deleted scenes: theatrical trailers and more.』 『If you're expecting bandaged-wrapped corpses and a lurching Boris Karloff-type villain, then you've come to the wrong movie. But if outrageous effects, a hunky hero, and some hearty laughs are what you're looking for, the 1999 version ofThe Mummyis spectacularly good fun. Yes, the critics called it "hokey," "cheesy," and "pallid." Well, the critics are unjust. Granted, the plot tends to stray, the acting is a bit of a stretch, and the characters occasionally slip into cliché, but who cares? When that action gets going, hold tight--those two hours just fly by.
The premise of the movie isn't that far off from the original. Egyptologist and general mess Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) discovers a map to the lost city of Hamunaptra, and so she hires rogue Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) to lead her there. Once there, Evelyn accidentally unlocks the tomb of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), a man who had been buried alive a couple of millennia ago with flesh-eating bugs as punishment for sleeping with the pharaoh's girlfriend. The ancient mummy is revived, and he is determined to bring his old love back to life, which of course means much mayhem (including the unleashing of the 10 plagues) and human sacrifice. Despite the rather gory premise, this movie is fairly tame in terms of violence; most of the magic and surprise come from the special effects, which are glorious to watch, although Imhotep, before being fully reconstituted, is, as one explorer puts it, rather "juicy." Keep in mind this film is as much comedy as it is adventure--those looking for a straightforward horror pic will be disappointed. But for those who want good old-fashioned eye-candy kind of fun,The Mummyranks as one of choicest flicks of 1999.--Jenny Brown』

In this day and age anything can be done; Buildings falling, Dinosaurs, someone flying, etc... but back then they had to use their minds to achieve what can be done today. They found how to do something in the first film and then make it even better in the sequel. its all corny and sometimes you can see the wires, but I just love to look at how they made it come to life. This is a GREAT DVD pack and I enjoy seeing it time after time...』
(HIGHLY ENTERTAINING MOVIE COLLECTION) 『GOT TO GET THIS DVD COLLECTION OF VERY ENTERTAINING INVISIBLE MAN MOVIES. THERE'S A SHORT DOCUMENTRY ABOUT THE DIRECTOR JAMES WHALE, WHO DIRECTED FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN AND THE INVISIBLE MAN AS WELL.
THERE'S A GREAT INTERVIEW WITH THE LATE GREAT CLAUDE RAINS DAUGHTER, WHO TELLS OF AN ENCHANTING TIME WHEN HER FAMOUS DAD TOOK HER TO SEE THE INVISIBLE MAN WHEN SHE WAS TEN YEARS OLD AND THE MOVIE THEATER OWNER WAS SO EXCITED THAT CLAUDE WAS THERE, HE REFUSED TO ALLOW CLAUDE TO PAY FOR THE MOVIE TICKETS.
EACH OF THESE FILMS WAS ENTERTAINING IN THEIR OWN UNIQUE WAY. VINCENT PRICE MADE THE SEQUEL WHICH WAS A DECENT FILM. THE OTHER FILMS COMBINED THE INVISIBLE MAN IDEA WITH FIGHTING NAZIS, INJUSTICE AND SOCIAL ILLS AND THE INVISIBLE WOMAN WAS AN ENGAGING FILM WITH COMEDY BUT WORTH WATCHING. I WAITED THREE YEARS IN GETTING THIS SERIES, SORRY I WAITED SO LONG.
BY THE WAY, THE FIRST INVISIBLE MAN FILM WAS MADE IN 1933 AND THE GREAT THEN UNKNOWN ACTOR, WALTER BRENNEN, MADE A CAMEO APPEARENCE AS AN ENGLISHMAN INSIDE THE LION'S HEAD BAR DURING A POLICE INVESTIGATION. I HAVE SEEN THIS FILM DOZENS OF TIMES BUT JUST REALIZED NOW THAT BRENNEN WAS ONE OF THE MINOR BACKGROUND CHARACTERS, WHO MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CREDITED AT THE END OF THE FILM IN THE CREDITS.』
(Inspired me to read the book) 『When it comes to The Invisible Man, I definitely prefer the book. However, it was the film, and the documentary on this DVD about the film, that made me decide to read the book. When comparing the two, I feel that H.G. Wells created a very developed story, including an extended background on Griffin. I can't recall anywhere where there was any dialogue used from the book, after having read it. They might have used a few exact words, but in general, they basically summarized the story and gave Dr. Griffin a girlfriend. A lot of what I feel James Whale did, as is shown in the documentary on the DVD, is that he partially tried to redo Frankenstein, except better.
The special features are major. It includes all of the sequel films and a half-hour documentary about the original film. I personally watch the documentary a lot more than I watch the actual movie, but part of that is due to the fact that it's also shorter. It includes a history of James Whale's life and Claude Rains, including a moment where he took his daughter to see the film. It comments on several of the different screenplays that had been written before it was remembered that H.G. Wells would have to approve the screenplay. It ends talking about the sequel films.
When looking at the sequels, I personally prefer The Invisible Man Returns over The Invisible Man for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that The Invisible Man took a perfectly good story, and changed it into something that although it kept the basic story and was given H.G. Wells' approval, it still made several major changes. With The Invisible Man Returns, there isn't a book to compare it to, and because it was made up as the film, they were able to do more with the love interest of this film. Another major part is that I love Vincent Price's performance in it. I'm just not that big a fan of Claude Rains although I do have to mention that he did a great job with it, it's just not to my personal taste. When I read the book, I actually pictured Vincent Price's performance in my mind as Griffin.
The Invisible Woman is the complete opposite of The Invisible Man and The Invisible Man Returns. Those two films are primarily dramas (more with The Invisible Man Returns than the original version which has several humorous moments), when The Invisible Woman is a comedy. The Invisible Woman includes John Barrymore, the grandfather of Drew Barrymore, as a scientist who has developed an invisibility potion, and Margaret Hamilton, known for portraying the wicked witch of the west in The Wizard of Oz, as his assistant. The film is about a scientist who has done experiments with making people invisible and needs a human guinea pig, and when it turns out to be a woman, that's when the comedy truly begins.
Invisible Agent has probably the best special effects, and replaced the bandages and sunglasses with a towel, sunglasses, and cold cream. The scene where he puts the cream on his face is very impressive, and the special effects were very innovative for the time. I feel that although you can actually see his facial shape and his mouth move, that also gets rid of the fact that Claude Rains and Vincent Price used specifically their voices. The film itself, in my personal opinion, in no way can compare to The Invisible Man, The Invisible Man Returns, or The Invisible Woman, and I mainly just watch the scene where he's putting cream on his face.
The Invisible Man's Revenge was, in my personal opinion, a disaster. While the previous sequels, except for The Invisible Woman, at least used the first movie as having been where the invisibility potion was invented, they use the name, Griffin, yet they make it about a completely different person, and even more than that, he's not even the one who has developed the potion. He's a human guinea pig, who unknown to the scientist also happens to be a murderer. In all honesty, I've only watched this film once, as of writing this review. When thinking about the film, it doesn't seem to be that bad, and the special effects are far better than the original, until the end.
I highly recommend the entire boxed set, and say that you are definitely getting what you pay for if you do although my film-by-film review might somewhat say otherwise.』
(Old Movies got it right.) 『These are the movies of my childhood and I still love them. They were able to intertain you without gore, foul lanuage, or filth. Need more like them.』
(Love That Mean Invisible Man!) 『The Invisible Man is a great horror movie. It introduced Claude Rains to the world and created a fun franchise for Universal pictures, the monster movie giant. A scientist studies night and day to find the clue to invisibility only to experience success on himself. Unfortunately with time, it drives him a little mad too. So the monster show begins! The other films are interesting and professionally made but not up to par with the great original The Invisible Man. Quirky and of interest, I mildly enjoyed them and appreciated them for what they were. Probably good shows for the kiddies on Saturday afternoons. Great collection.』 『For the first time ever, the original The Invisible Man film comes to DVD in this extraordinary Legacy Collection. Included in the collection is the original classic, starring the renowned Claude Rains, and four timeless sequels, featuring such legendary actors as Vincent Price and John Barrymore. These are the landmark films that inspired an entire genre of movies and continue to be major influences on motion pictures to this day.』
