(An interesting and suspenseful sci-fi thriller)
『I didn't see a lot of hype for this film nor did I have any strong desire to see it aside from it's intriguing premise. I finally caught it recently and have to say I really enjoyed it. The story begins simple enough but as the film progresses it becomes more involving and mysterious. A unique Twilight Zone-esque tale with fine performances and creepy moments. It's not on the level of Donnie Darko but it's still a fine film. Recommended.』

(Aspect ratio?)
『Are they sure about this 1.77/1 aspect ratio? This is absurd. What are we living in the 80s? Warner Brothers are idiots.』

(Interesting At the Very Least...)
『I'm going to keep this review short and sweet, as I feel other 4-star reviews have made any point I could make already.

This movie was nothing if not interesting and mind-boggling. It kept me guessing and in the end...I couldn't stop thinking about what I'd just witnessed and how much I want to see it again so I can study it further.

No, it was not the best sci-fi film ever...not even the best by the director, Richard Kelly. But, what it was is an engrossing, interesting, and (although it was based on a short story and Twilight Zone episode) original film, produced in an era where run-of-the-mill actions and romantic comedies rule the screen. And the acting wasn't too shabby either. Cameron Diaz's fake Southern accent could be a little much at times, but I think that was the intention. And Frank Langella was phenomenal.

Plain and simply, rent this before you buy it. It is a movie you'll likely either 'get' or loathe ravenously. But you should at least give it a chance. Yes, the plot is a bit incoherent at times, but it's not supposed to be an easy movie...it's cerebral and visual. It makes you think.

I'll be adding it to my blu-ray collection for sure, as I already have Kelly's other 2 films, Donnie Darko and Southland Tales.』

(Abysmal...worst adaptation EVER of a Richard Matheson work)
『Based on an excellent short story, this one gets the Raspberry Award for worst adaptation. Matheson has been incredibly lucky over the years in that he has inspired some amazing adaptations . . . which, in my opinion, points to the strength of the source material. I went in with high hopes with "The Box" given the strong cast, but this one is a Class-A stinker, something way less than the sum of its parts. It's unfortunate.』

(Not What I Expected!!!)
『At first, the movie started off really well. I loved that it took place in the 70's, and around Christmas. It was toward the middle of the movie that it became confusing, and added supernatural references. I'm still not sure what Mr. Steward and his employees were supposed to be. I couldn't tell if they were aliens, or people under mind control. Norma and Arthur Lewis receive a black box with a red button on it. If they push it; they will receive a million dollars, and someone dies. Once the button is pushed, they must deal with the consequences. If you were given the opportunity for a million dollars, would you push the button on THE BOX!!!』
『Push a red button on a little black box, get a million bucks cash. Just like that, all of Norma (Diaz) and Arthur Lewis's (Marsden) financial problems will be over. But there's a catch, according to the strange visitor (Lagella) who placed the box on the couple’s doorstep. Someone, somewhere – someone they don't know – will die. Cameron Diaz and James Marsden play a couple confronted by agonizing temptation yet unaware they're already part of an orchestrated an – for them and us – mind-blowing chain of events.』
『Director Richard Kelly has crafted yet another evocative, spectacular, maddening film guaranteed to provoke passionate love-it or hate-it responses. Though far more straightforward than his previous cult favorites,Donnie DarkoorSouthland Tales,The Boxis crammed just as full of stunning visuals and ambiguous metaphysics. Norma and Arthur Lewis (Cameron Diaz ofCharlie's Angelsand James Marsden ofX-Men) find a plainly wrapped package on their doorstep one day. Inside is a strange box with a large, red button--and if they press that button, explains a courtly but alarming-looking gentleman (Frank Langella,Frost/Nixon), they will receive a million dollars… and someone they don't know will die. This is but the starting point for an increasingly creepy tale, featuring eye-popping wallpaper, spontaneous nosebleeds, allusions to Jean-Paul Sartre, overly attentive library patrons, boxes of water, warehouses full of light, and a bell-ringing Santa Clausstanding in the middle of a road. Some of it makes sense, some of it doesn't, but the person who's going to love this movie won't care. The Box's true power lies in the slow accumulation of dizzying hypnotic images and a tangible sense of unease and anticipation. Kelly aspires to capture the beauty and terror of existence on film; even if he doesn't succeed--and every viewer will have to decide that for himself or herself--his sheer ambition is remarkable.--Bret Fetzer

(FOX underestimates Megan's Body)
『While FOX promotes all the other movies on its roster, the movie at the bottom of their agenda, may have been the one that should have been at the top. Don't get me wrong, it was a bad year for FOX, but JENNIFER'S BODY, while it may not be intellecual or have top known actors in it, it is, for all intensive purposes, sheer fun and constantly interesting.

Dismally promoted, JENNIFER'S BODY was shrugged off by its studio as a disappointment, but in the end, JENNIFER'S BODY will probably be one of the movies where, in a few years, or a few months, people will still be watching it. People will still have to get it off the shelf and check it out again and again, because its fun. It isn't all that scary, although it has some scary stuff in it. It's more along the line of 80s movies like NIGHT OF THE CREEPS. It's fun. It's eye candy. It's plain and simple, entertaining.

Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox are two of the hottest actresses in hollywood right now, and I don't mean HOT as in HAAATTT! I mean HOT as in, getting jobs and getting good jobs and continuing to deliver time after time. Especially Seyfried who is fast becoming one of my favorite actresses. She preys on the audiences natural reaction to find her adorable and cute and then does things either sexy or shocking and it works in JENNIFER'S BODY like a charm. She plays Needy, a nerdy girl who everybody thinks is a lesbo, except for her, who watches the world around her, including her friend Jennifer, become stranger and stranger as dead bodies keep popping up. Is she crazy? or is she just a gulible friend?

JENNIFER'S BODY has everything it needs and more to be a movie that will stand the test of time, despite the poor promotion it received from its studio. Unlike most movies that are forgotten as soon as the credits hit, BODY is a repeat viewer and a fun trip with two actresses who will be around for a long long time.』

(Average Story)
『Overall, I enjoyed this movie. The story and cinema photography were good...but, the acting was a little weak. Looking back I should have rented it instead of purchasing it.』

(Needy's Movie)
『You might think, judging from the commercials, that Jennifer's Body is about some high school queen bee that uses her unholy popularity to cut a bloody swath through cliques and clichés of all types. Alternately, you might think it's basically soft-core porn featuring Megan Fox. None of these marketing approaches served Jennifer's Body well. Please note: thisreview contains spoilers!

Diablo Cody, who earned a reputation for smart dialogue from Juno, isn't interested in writing a horror flick. She wants to delve into the issues of friendship and sexual maturity, as viewed through the lens of demonic possession.

Right, about that. In a fashion similar to Ginger Snaps (which combined lycanthropy with puberty), Jennifer (Megan Fox) is now the sexiest girl in high school. Her best friend, helpfully identified as "Needy" (Amanda Seyfried), has nothing in common with her. In a twist on the old trope, it's Needy who has the boyfriend (Chip, played by Johnny Simmons).

The two end up at a dive bar for an emo band, Low Shoulder. Low Shoulder is actually a band of amateur cultists who believe, on the strength of Jennifer's transparent lie, that the hot chick oozing sexuality is in fact a virgin. This leads to a hilarious misunderstanding with hell, in which Jennifer is sacrificed only to return from the dead as a succubus.

Jennifer's Body waffles between horror tropes of stupidity - the band believing Jennifer's lie; Jennifer's ability to get away with murder; victims doing really dumb things - and mood-killing reality checks. The murders are drawn out over time, such that the high school deals with them in a realistic way reminiscent of other real-life high school tragedies. Midnight vigils are held, jocks cry, and camera crews roll tape.

Although Jennifer's Body is supposed to be about its namesake, we get precious little insight into Jennifer's thoughts. The film is actually about Needy, who is a typical "Final Girl" of horror movies. Like the legions of Final Girls that have gone before her, Needy is psychically connected to Jennifer in a way that's never explained. This movie is much more about Needy, her boyfriend, her "nerdy" persona that's never convincingly portrayed, and her awkward relationship with Jennifer. Jennifer's Body tries hard to imply there's some chemistry between the two of them, but it just doesn't click. Jennifer comes off as uniformly one-dimensional and Needy as a disconnected cipher.

The pacing in this film is incredibly jarring; at various points, Jennifer just jumps out the window and exits a scene. The movie starts to feel more like a series of vignettes than an actual plot. Cody uses the Lovecraftian technique of "I was there!" that is no longer in favor because it saps a film's momentum.

The ending, such as it is, is something of a foregone conclusion - we know that Needy is committed to an insane asylum because as narrator she tells us in the beginning of the film. But don't worry, Jennifer's condition is some kind of super-virus (you can "get succubus" on you, apparently), which destroys any pathos around Jennifer's transformation and turns our Final Girl into a superhero who can fly. That's right, fly.

Still, Jennifer's Body isn't terrible. Slickly produced, with competent special effects, the movie tries hard to be both sexy and cool. All the navel gazing around why it "failed" is unwarranted; Jennifer's Body made back twice what it cost to produce. It's just that Jennifer's Body, despite using lots of "hip" dialogue, wants you to like it so much that it throws everything at you: a contrived horror plot, prolonged seduction scenes, a lesbian kiss, and a superhero revenge sequence. In the era of the Internet, that's not enough to make a great horror film anymore. It could just have been easily called Needy's Movie.

(Eclectic, but nothing memorable (much).)
『This is my first experience in the Jennifer's Body universe. I'm waiting for Jennifer's Body to arrive from Amazon, and will be getting the Blu-Ray from the UK because the idiots at Fox think it's financially viable to region-lock their Blu-Ray discs.

The soundtrack is something you wouldn't associate with something that claims it resembles a horror film. It has echoes of the songs Juno had, but, dare I say it, more "hardcore". Yeah, that seems right - "Hardcore Juno".

Not hardcore with thrashing heads and heavy metal, hardcore as in more heavy than the music on Juno's fifty-billion editions of the soundtrack.

A few songs stand out: obviously, Panic! At The Disco's "New Perspective" is catchy a short and sweet for those who like Panic! (like me), "Kiss With A Fist" by Florence and the Machine is worth a few listens, but is nothing ground-breaking. Little Boots' "New In Town" is catchy and up-beat, and fits with what I've seen with the film perfectly. Cobra Starship's "Chew Me Up and Spit Me Out" is funky and dancey, and a pleasant listening experience. Probably by favourite song is "Toxic Valentine" by a band I've never heard of: All Time Low. Don't ask me why, I guess it just sounds awesome. I'll probably check their records out sooner or later.

The range of styles on here, there should be at least one song to please anyone that listens to this. Three stars.』

(Just Plain Fun!)
『To Keep it simple, I loved this Movie, it was definitly not the worst film in history but it won't get an acadamey award either. I'm a sucker for hot Chicks being all evil and looking hot doing it, (And I'm Gay, but i guess that makes sense!). Anyway i would recommend this to anyone that likes Horror Teen flicks....Like my title says, Just Plain Fun.
And!!!! The Soundtrack is okay, I wished that the producers or whoever had worked a bit more on that part, i think a great soundtrack can help the most mediocare of films, thats why i gave this 4 stars! Still i walked away loving "Jennifers Body".』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(It's good, but not as good as the book.)
『This was a gift for another Ann Rice Fan. When I saw the movie, it was well done. The acting was a little over the top, but that's normal for horror flicks. The book was much better. If you order the DVD, be sure and order the book, too.』

(I just love this movie)
『This movie is one of my long time favorites, so I decided to buy it on DVD for my little but growing vampire movies collection. A must have for every vampire film lover, like me!』

(Interview With the Vampire--On Blu-Ray)
『Bravo to all of the reviewers who took on the film in depth regarding characters and development in detail. The plot itself is pretty much as described on the back of the box--200 year old vampire telling his life story to a reporter he meets in a back alley, from the beginning (which is not quite how the book does it, but I digress) in which he describes the circumstances of his mortal life briefly, his transformation into a vampire by Lestat (Tom Cruise), and his internal struggles with what he has become. That is the overall gist of the story.

In any case, to review the Blu Ray: I own the Dvd version of this, and bought the blu-ray to further my attempts at converting over my movie collection. The Blu-Ray is a bit sharper than the dvd, as to be expected, but I was not dazzled. I saw no immediate difference, but was satisfied with what difference there was, as this is an older movie. However: if you're looking for special features: don't. Because this blu-ray does not really have them. There are commentaries from the actors, Anne Rice, etc, but I'm positive those are on the old Dvd as well. Nothing new here! It's kind of disappointing, because I buy Blu-Rays because I want to re-experience certain movies, and with no new content, there are no new angles to look at. In that sense, I'm disappointed.』

(Interview with the Vampire)
『It hadn't even been a year since a plantation owner named Louis had lost his wife in childbirth. Both his wife and the infant died, and now he has lost his will to live. A vampire named Lestat takes a liking to Louis and offers him the chance to become a creature of the night: a vampire. Louis accepts, and Lestat drains Louis' mortal blood and then replaces it with his own, turning Louis into a vampire. Louis must learn from Lestat the ways of the vampire. I thought this movie was wonderful. The costumes and the actors were impecable. Even though there is gore and blood, this movie is highly entertaining and I would highly recommend it.

(Vampire Mania)
『I have this movie on vhs, but wanted it on dvd, we are in the "twilight faze", and I wanted to share this movie with my daughter. This movie had the HOTTEST VAMPIRES!!! I also ordered the Twilight Saga for my daughter (all 4 books) for amazon at the same time. Amazon is the best place to order on-line. The service is quick and I've never have a problem in the years I have been ordering from them. A must have movie for you vampire collection.』
『The undead are among us and livelier than ever when Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and a talented group of young-bloods star in Interview with the Vampire, the spellbinding screen adaptation of Anne Rice's best seller that's "one the best films of the year" (Caryn James, The New York Times). Award-winning box-office favorite Cruise stylishly plays the supremely evil and charismatic vampire Lestat. Pitt is Louis, lured by Lestat into the immortality of the damned, then tormented by an unalterable fact of vampire life: to survive, he must kill. Stephen Rea, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and newcomer Kirsten Dunst also star. One lifetime alone offers plenty of opportunities for the savage revelries of the night. Imagine what an eternity can bring. Hypnotically directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game), Interview with the Vampire offers enough thrills, shocks and fiendish fun to last a lifetime...and beyond.』
『When it was announced that Tom Cruise would play the vampire Lestat in this adaptation of Anne Rice's bestselling novel, even Rice chimed in with a highly publicized objection. The author wisely and justifiably recanted her negative opinion when she saw Cruise's excellent performance, which perceptively addresses the pain and chronic melancholy that plagues anyone cursed with immortal bloodlust. Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst are equally good at maintaining the dark and brooding tone of Rice's novel. And in this rare mainstream project for a major studio, director Neil Jordan compensates for a lumbering plot by honoring the literate, Romantic qualities of Rice's screenplay. Considered a disappointment while being embraced by Rice's loyal followers, the movie is too slow to be a satisfying thriller, but it is definitely one of the most lavish, intelligent horror films ever made.--Jeff Shannon

(A Classic Detective Series)
『My wife and I enjoy watching mysteries. One of her favorites is the Thin Man series. I was not all that into it until I watched the first in the series and now I am hooked. I love the interaction between the actors and the way sex and violence is not prominently displayed like in movies today. These are films that one can watch with the family.』

(The Thin Man movies are awesome!!)
『I bought these for my husband's Christmas present. He's already watched the entire set twice. We've been fans of The Thin Man movies for years. William Powell and Myrna Loy had a fantastic chemistry as actors, wonderful timing, and superbly intelligent, witty scripts. They just don't write them like that anymore. I also recommend William Powell in "My Man Godfrey".』

(DANIEL J. LEAHY ESQ.)
『THE THIN MAN MOVIES ARE GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. THEY ARE WRITTEN AND ACTED IN A TONGUE IN CHEEK ATTITUDE THAT IS FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING.』

(The complete Thin Man Collection.)
『Saw most of the Thin movies when growing up. Wanted to add to my movie collection.』

(Absolutely wonderful!!!)
『Arrived quickly and in perfect condition. My parents have already watched all the movies and loved them!!』
『The sparkling series featured the irresistible William Powell and Myrna Loy chemistry as husband and wife sleuths who solved murders with the aid of their wire-haired terrier, Asta. Set in the glamorous world of 1930s upper-class Manhattan, The Thin Man and its sequels established the standard for witty comedy, clever dialogue and urbane one upmanship. The 7-Disc set includes THE THIN MAN, AFTER THE THIN MAN, ANOTHER THIN MAN, SHADOW OF THE THIN MAN, SONG OF THE THIN MAN, THE THIN MAN GOES HOME, and the ALIAS NICK&NORA bonus documentary disc.』
『Almost as welcome as a shaker full of martinis,The Complete Thin Man Collectionrepresents an eagerly awaited DVD milestone for fans of the fizzy MGM movie series. The best film in the series came first:The Thin Man(1934), W.S. Van Dyke's marvelous adaptation of a Dashiell Hammet novel. The movie gods were in a generous mood when they paired William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, the upper-class sophisticates whose sleuthing escapades somehow joined the classic form of the whodunit with the giddyup of screwball comedy. Among the series' many attributes, one of its most radical notions was the idea that a married couple might find each other delightful and view life as a goofy adventure together.

It is common wisdom that theThin Mansequels adhere to the law of diminishing returns, and while none of the follow-ups reach the diamond level of the first film, all afford pleasures. There's the cocktail-swilling chemistry of Powell and Loy, for one thing, as well as the considerable satisfaction of average movies made during the studio system: the craftsmanship of studio hands, and a gallery of terrific character actors filling in supporting roles. First sequelAfter the Thin Man(1936) is very good, with the couple in San Francisco and a supporting part for rising player James Stewart. The scenery moves again, to Long Island, for the rather impudently-titledAnother Thin Man(1939), which adds baby Nick, Jr., to the mix (a "bad idea," thought Pauline Kael, perhaps a sign of the domestication of the series).

Shadow of the Thin Man(1941) sets the action around a racetrack, and is the last of the series to be directed by the fast-working Van Dyke. The Thin Man Goes Home(1944) finds Nick escorting family to his parents' house for a visit.Song of the Thin Man(1947) engagingly adds a jazz milieu to the Charles's detective work; at this point, Nick, Jr. was played by child star Dean Stockwell. The series stuck with certain staples: the unveiling of the guilty party, a wirehaired terrier named Asta (who became a star in its own right), and booze. When Nick opines, in the first film, that a dry martini should always be shaken to "waltz time," you know why audiences fell in love with these guilt-free comedies.--Robert Horton

(Entertaining Suspense/Thriller!)
『One of the higher-profile suspense thrillers of '09, The Perfect Getaway is an entertaining movie with a good premise, however the last half or so falls into the trap of clichés...not to mention a few random acts of "hokey"-ness. Still, it overall is entertaining and at least attempts to make some original story and cutting methods and deserves a positive rating. Viewers shouldn't expect much more than an hour and 45 of good suspenseful fun, though.

"A Perfect Goodaway" more-or-less met my expectations. Fans of such movies like "Touristas" should like it(though this wasn't nearly as gory). Ultimately I was expecting a nice ride that kept my interest, along with some decent acting and those characters that seem to come with this kind of movie....and this lived up to it!

(Girly man)
『I rented the flick due to one of the positive reviews ("Pleasantly Surprised"). I'll know better next time. Zahns character is the biggest whimp that frets like somebodys overbearing mother. No woman (especially a Milla type) would ever marry this guy, hes a total whuss. I couldn't take anymore and had to turn it off.

(Celluloid Ambien)
『It's been a long time since I've fallen asleep during a movie. I think that I nodded off after about an hour of A Perfect Getaway. So 45 - 60 minutes into the movie here's what I remember:

- Some very bad acting by actors that I really do like. Hey, love 'em or hate 'em, I like the Resident Evil movies and Mila Jovovich is cool. And Timothy Olyphant!...How can you go wrong with him in your film? But they were boring and unbelievable as far as I saw in this movie. And Steve Zahn has got a kind of tough look about him, so seeing him in A Perfect Getaway as a geeky hiker just didn't work; you might say he was...unbelievable, which leads perfectly into,

- A story that was seemingly predictable, with people doing stuff that was just hard to swallow. So ultimately by the time I lost consciousness, the movie had introduced me to three couples: Mila and Zahn the hikers, another hiking couple that seems nice and a random couple that you don't trust. It turns out that there's a serial killer(s) on the loose and we're pointed in the direction that the killer may be near and may even be one of the couples.

- An hour of the movie has gone by with not much more action than what is contained here in my review. And here are these three couples in a remote area of one of the Hawaiian Islands...When suddenly...I wake up to the main menu of the disk on my screen. Fell asleep, movie ended, credits rolled....Now that's what I call a sleeper.

Do I need to give this another chance? Maybe I will once it comes out on cable, and maybe I'll return here and revise my review accordingly. But until then, I'd recommend a pass on A Perfect Getaway unless you need a prescription for something to help you sleep.

(Slow movie)
『The movie wasn't very action packed. It was slow moving. The end had a bit of a twist to make it a little better but over all just an ok movie』

(Terrible)
『Same old stuff as we've all seen in countless other suspense movies. Predictable, I liked him in "Management", here not so much』
『Two pairs of lovers on a hawaiian vacation discover that psychopaths are stalking and murdering tourists on the islands. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 12/29/2009 Starring: Milla Jovovich Run time: 108 minutes Rating: R』

(Not in 3D as advertised when I ordered)
『I oredered this BluRay when it was advertised as The Final Destination in 3D but when it arrived it was only a @D version and Amazon said there was nothing they could do about recieving the wrong product as the copies they now have are only 2D. After my complaint Amazon changed the Advertised BluRay with the note underneath that early copies were in 3D but now they only stock 2D. Well Amazon you should advertise what your selling not advertise a 3D version and send a 2D version. After many years of using Amazon that is a poor excuse why they sent the wrong version. Stop False advertising Amazon.

(The Final Destination? God I hope!)
『I am so glad I only spent one dollar at REDBOX to rent this crap. It has nothing to do with the characters of the previous films, and making it 3D is some marketing ploy to sell this total trash. Ridiculous "freak" accidents that made me laugh out loud! Gee so many places of business in this movie that are so dangerous and accident-prone. Maybe OSHA should be called? If you watch this, then I suggest just to fast forward to all the accidents. Better yet just rent it for $1 at REDBOX. Too bad I can't get my dollar back.』

(The Final Destination)
『If you like the Final Destination series then this will be right up your alley. I found it to be entertaining but some stuff a little far fetched, but its a movie its suppose to be. I recommend it for a horror flick.』

(Not what I expected.)
『for my review, I think that it could have been maybe a little better than the other. . and the 3-D just too good.』

(Bloody and Gory and Messy...)
『When you prepare yourself to watch "The Final Destination," popping popcorn and pouring your soft drink, you should also prepare for one other thing: predictability. This movie is formulaic, the script isn't very good, and the gore is elevated to extremely high levels. I can honestly say that I found myself laughing at both the dialogue and insane amounts of gore (you have to see certain scenes to believe them, and even then they don't make much sense). This is a fun movie, but not an Oscar-worthy one.

If you want over the top bloody, gory fun, then this movie is fine. Don't expect the script to be anything but messy, and don't expect spectacular cinematography. It looks great on Blu-ray (but the 3-D scenes obviously don't have the same type of impact that they would have in theaters).

Overall, an interesting part of the series, but it could use a serious overhaul to prevent it from being another "Saw."』

『After a teen's premonition of a deadly race-car crash helps saves the lives of his peers, Death sets out to collect those who evaded their end.』
『Installment #4 in the premonition-ladenFinal Destinationseries comes on like a poker-faced send-up of the previous episodes, featuring a collection of hilariously over-the-top deaths and the usual array of Rube Goldberg set-ups--except this time the chain reactions rarely result in mayhem. Fate, it seems, is more random than that. We open at a racetrack, where vapid teen Bobby Campo has a vision of slaughter involving cars crashing and bleachers crumbling. When he hustles girlfriend Shantal VanSanten and their friends out of the grandstands before the real conflagration, it doesn't take long to figure out that their time is going to come, and soon. (Which they would have known if they'd watched the first threeFinal Destinationmovies.) From there, it's just waiting around for the killings, which this time utilize a car wash, a beauty parlor, and a tow truck run amok. Perhaps the gruesomeness of the deaths this time is explained by the cheapjack production (gotta grab 'em with something) and surely the many jabbing, jutting implements are there because the film was released to some theaters in 3-D. As for the death that occurs in a swimming-pool drain, it seems somebody read Chuck Palahniuk's notorious story "Guts," or at least had an ear for urban legends. The bland characters and tin-ear dialogue don't help anything, even if the climactic sequence in a movie theater showing a 3-D film suggests a lurking sense of self-awareness. Moral: there may be three dimensions, but there's only one destination.--Robert Horton

(what a waste!)
『I only gave it a 2 because it featured that yummy Robert Pattinson - otherwise, stinkeroo!』

(Horrible movie!)
『You'll get a Robert Pattinson fix, but that is all. The movie was really strange and not in a good, cool way.

(The Haunted Airman)
『This was brilliant, especially if you love Robert Pattinson. His performance was intense and stunning and is well worth watching again. The tone and feel of the entire film was creepy and suspenseful and certainly made me jump in my seat and chew my fingertips more than once. Julian Sands was also fun to watch as well as the nurse (can't remember the actresses name..oops). Anyway, buy it if you love British psychological thrillers or Rob Pattinson, either way, you will not be disappointed...
going to buy How To Be shortly...Robert Pattinson is a WONDERFUL actor...looks aside,(but those help too).』

(plot holes)
『This movie started off great. A former airman dealing with the horrors of war sent to a home for veterans by the only family he has his aunt. However this movie has a lot that is unexplained. I think what they were trying to do was leave you with the sense of; is it all real? or is he just plain crazy? but in the end it didnt work. plus there is an akward scene of the airman maybe raping his aunt(it could just be her being afriad that he may kill her and he lays on top of her)? your not quit sure what is going in this scene and most of the movie. For me i was left with ALOT of questions.』

(Really?)
『The only good thing about this movie was Robert Pattinson....the story was dull, even for British standards....do not purchase this movie unless you are a fan of Robert Pattinson and require this for your collection.....』
『Flight Lieutenant Jugg (Twilight's Robert Pattinson), confined to a wheelchair after being wounded in action, arrives at a remote mansion in Wales to recuperate. Suffering from terrible nightmares and visions, he suspects the methods of his psychiatrist, Dr. Hal Burns (Julian Sands). His beautiful aunt, Julia (Rachael Stirling) seems to be the only person he can trust– until circumstances make him doubt even her intentions. Based on the novel “The Haunting of Toby Jugg” by Dennis Wheatley.』

(Ti West's 'House of the Devil' AKA How to market your movie)
『I attended a midnight screening of Ti West's 'House of the Devil' in Boston last weekend. I had seen a lot of press about the film which led me to watch the trailer. Seeing the inclusion of genre vets Tom Noonan, and Mary Woronov assured me that this was a film that had it's roots firmly planted in the late '70's through to the mid '80's.

The film is one that is not for those who are looking for a quick paced, gore filled scream fest. It is, however, for those who enjoy an atmospheric, character driven movie. The film does have well done effects, a very atmospheric score, and very solid cinematography.

If Mr. West is involved with the marketing of this film then I say job well done. For a film that really does feel from that era the choice to simultaneously release it on VHS as well as DVD is a great one, and for people who collect VHS, like myself, should buy this one as it comes in an over sized clamshell case.』

『The Horror Film of the Year available on DVD, Blu-ray and VHS EXCLUSIVELY AT AMAZON.

Sam (Donahue) is a pretty college sophomore, so desperate to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby. Mr. and Mrs. Ulman (cult actors Noonan and Woronov) are the older couple who lure Sam out to their creaky Victorian mansion deep in the woods, just in time for a total lunar eclipse. Megan (Gerwig) is Sam's best friend, who gives her a ride out to the house, and reluctantly leaves her there despite suspecting that something is amiss. Victor (Bowen) at first seems like just a creepy guy lurking around the house, but quickly makes it clear that Sam will end this night in a bloody fight for her life...

(Yes,Yes. The She-Wolf Rules. But of Course?)
『Way Back in 1990,3 years after Werewolf:the TV Series was cancelled. Something wonderful happend in the fall of 1990. We all got a chance to see a female Werewolf. That Werewolf was...She-Wolf of London. Starring the beautiful and talented Kate Hodge. She plays Randi Wallace,a college student that travels to London to study with mytholagy professor Dr. Ian Matheson. Played by the a great british actor Neil Dickson. And the rest of the cast is great and funny in every way. I have really no problem with the revamp of the She-Wolf of London main titles,at least they left She-Wolf end credits in tact. This series will make you cry, laugh, and sympathize completely with Randi's contition as Ian tires so desperately to help her find a cure. The episode Voodoo Child is quite evident that Ian cares about Randi. I am just loving every minute of this show. Long live Kate, Neil, Scott Fults and the rest oif the british gang as they serve up laughs. And of course the beast that Randi becomes every full moon.』

(Glad it made it out, but can't help being a little disappointed...)
『I never thought this series would be released but thanks to Universal's cross-marketing of "The Wolfman" movie we now have it! Reminds me of when Sony released "Tabitha" when the horrible "Bewitched" movie was released.

It's such a shame Universal didn't include the original opening for the first 14 episodes. I am sure it was completely accidental. So many studios really don't know their material as well as the fans do. That's why Studios really should contact a fan website every now and then and get some input or let them preview the check-discs...but they are probably afraid of confidential information being leaked. So mistakes like this happen. The original theme and opening are so great too....So much better than the "Love and Curses" theme and opening. I guess I'll have to dig my Sci-Fi channel recorded VHS' out of storage and transfer the opening.

Thanks anyway Universal for releasing this great show! I really do appreciate it! Next time though, do a little more research, please.

BTW, UNIVERSAL, Can we please have the final seasons of "Amazing Stories" (Season 2), "SeaQuest 2032," and Sliders (Season 5). It seems such a shame to release every season except the last! You've come so close!』

(Sometimes Revamping leads to disappointment)
『She-Wolf of London: Complete Series Just received the dvd series. Ordinarily, I would have given it a much higher rating. However, the original theme music was removed( why? I don't know. Maybe the moon was shining purple instead of its usual pristine color.) and replaced with the very sappy and irritating love and curses theme.

I distinctly remember the theme to be very sensuous, with a mysterious undertone. That tied in beautifully with the concept of the "She-Wolf". Instead of the dvd producers maintaining that line of thought, they opted to throw in an opening theme which was so irritating that it almost made me gag. Thankfully, the contents of the episodes included little scenes that were edited by either WWOR or Sci-Fi.

Also, I found a glitch in the video transfer. In the 'Little Bookshop of Horrors(?)', there is a video warp at the very beginning of the episode.[Maybe someone fell asleep at the editing table]. Come on guys! You want this sale to take off(especially in the advent of the 'Wolf-man' movie release to be coming to theaters soon), you have to pay attention!

(FINALLY)
『I love this show! Always have. It's so great that it's finally getting a dvd release. I can finally put my VHS copies to rest. Bravo!』

(Glad it is out, but)
『I like the others here am thrilled to see this series out on DVD finally! Never thought I would see the day. I just received my copy and I have one problem with it.

The original opening for the She-wolf episodes has been replaced with the Love and Curses theme! WHY?!?!?! :( :(

I wanted to get rid of my taped copies, (from WWOR Channel 9 and Sci-fi), but will hold on to them because of this :(

Episodes look good and are intact. (except as noted above)

All in all I am glad its out on DVD.』

『In the tradition of Universal’s famed collection of monsters comes She-Wolf of London. Now the complete series featuring all 20 episodes is available for the first time on DVD. Beautiful American grad student Randi Wallace (Kate Hodge, “Fringe”) never suspected that traveling to England to study with handsome mythology professor Ian Matheson (Neil Dickson, Beowulf) would change her life forever. While conducting research on the misty and mysterious English moors, Randi is attacked and bitten by a werewolf. Now cursed to transform into a bloodthirsty werewolf during every full moon, the two must find a way to save her. Follow their adventures from London to L.A. as they search for a cure, battle supernatural forces and the romantic feelings they have for one another.』

(A vampire love story for adults)
『This is one of the best horror/vampire movies I have ever seen. Unlike the Twilight franchise that is aimed at young adolescent females and twenty-somethings with vampires and werewolves that are made to look more like the stereo-typical, dangerous bad boy who girls of this age find so attractive, Let The Right One In's Eli is a vampire in every sense of the word. It is an intelligent, very good movie that makes the Twilight saga pale in comparison.』

(Creepy, creepy, creepy)
『This is a great take on vampire mythology. After watching, I strongly suggest reading the book (which is so much gorier and scarier).』

(Corrected Subtitles?)
『I wish to order "Let the Right One In [Blu-ray] (2008)" But, I only want it if it the edition that has the corrected subtitles. The back should say "English (Theatrical)" as opposed to the old version that only says "English."

Some people have said they have contacted Amazon&were assured that they would get the correct version&others have said they were told it is a gamble.

I called Amazon&was told they have no guarantee&if I got the wrong version I could return it but, I'd have to pay S&H.

I'm considering the UK version which always had the correct subtitles and has the English commentary track but may have some picture glitches, may not have lossless audio&doesn't have one of the short features&or galleries that is on the USA version.

Seems the US version with the Theatrical subtitles is the best bet all around. Now how do I get it?』

(I had to watch it twice.)
『I really shouldn't have admitted that but some movies just don't sink in the first go around with me.
"Let The Right On In" was one of those movies.
I've been a huge fan of "Interview With The Vampire" for many years and in my mind, that really is THE definitive vampire movie.
So, my first impressions of "LTROI" weren't spectacular.
I thought it was boring, drab and pardon the pun...lifeless.
So, after debating this movie with a friend a while ago. I decided to watch it again.
And.....

I think I missed a lot of the subtle things that the movie offers.
You know, I went from writing sentence long reviews to writing reviews that bordered on "phone book" size.
I'm trying to get to somewhere in between the two.

What did I like?
Beautiful direction.
Colorless and drab environments that really are a reflection of the vampire herself.
The acting itself was top notch.
My favorite scene is near the end, the hospital scene.
I won't spoil it but it was the coolest scene in the movie.

What didn't I like upon the second viewing?
Not much.
Like I said, sometimes a movie just doesn't click with me the first time around.
The second time was a charm.
I don't know if the subtitles on my version were screwed up or not, I never saw the theater version.
All in all, it's a great movie and one of the few vampire movies that is a genuinely great addition to vampire lore.
"Let The Right On In" comes......
Recommended.

(Watch it soon - before Hollywood remakes it!!)
『A film about sacrifices. While everyone who has seen the trailer will know that this is the story of a small snow-bound Swedish town haunted by a vampire, what is truly awesome about it is the fragility of each character, and how they all crumble in one way or another. Eli's sacrifices, Oskar's sacrificies, Virginia's sacrifice, Håkan's sacrifice... The film is beautiful and minimal, and we care about all of the characters. The love story between two 12-year-olds is somehow quite believable. The theme of bullyism is a bit clumsy, and provides a bit of non-vampire action. The book, apparently, also deals with alcoholism, drug use, and pedophilia - wow, pack it all in between the vampirism and murder.

This film is very highly recommended.』

『Oscar, a 12-year-old fragile and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl he befriends, who moves into his building.   When Oscar discovers that Eli is a vampire it does not deter his increasing feelings and confused emotions of a young adolescent.  When Eli loses the man who protects and provides for her, and as suspicions are mounting from her neighbors and police she must move on to stay alive.  However when Oscar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can.』
『The enduring popularity of the vampire myth rests, in part, on sexual magnetism. InLet the Right One In, Tomas Alfredson's carefully controlled, yet sympathetic take on John Ajvide Lindqvist's Swedish bestseller-turned-screenplay, the protagonists are pre-teens, unlike the fully-formed night crawlers of HBO’sTrue Bloodor Catherine Hardwicke’sTwilight(both also based on popular novels). Instead, 12-year-old Oskar (future heartbreaker Kåre Hedebrant) and Eli (Lina Leandersson) enter into a deadly form of puppy love. The product of divorce, Oskar lives with his harried mother, while his new neighbor resides with a mystery man named Håkan (Per Ragnar), who takes care of her unique dietary needs. From the wintery moment in 1982 that the lonely, towheaded boy spots the strange, dark-haired girl skulking around their outer-Stockholm tenement, he senses a kindred spirit. They bond, innocently enough, over a Rubik's Cube, but little does Oskar realize that Eli has been 12 for a very long time. Meanwhile, at school, bullies torment the pale and morbid student mercilessly. Through his friendship with Eli, Oskar doesn't just learn how to defend himself, but to become a sort of predator himself, begging the question as to whether Eli really exists or whether she represents a manifestation of his pent-up anger and resentment. Naturally, the international success of Lindqvist's fifth feature, like Norway's chillingInsomniabefore it, has inspired an American remake, which is sure to boast superior special effects, but can't possibly capture the delicate balance he strikes here between the tender and the terrible.--Kathleen C.
