I had watched Lois&Clark religiously, so to learn that Supes was back, but this time exploring his pre-Superman years as a mild-mannered teen in Smallville, well, needless to say I was pumped, and Season One of Smallville didn't disappoint.
We got our first glimpses of Clark's developing superpowers, how he and Lex met and the friendship that would later help forge the greatest archrivalry of all time, Clark's Kryptonian heritage and more. Likewise, to meet Lana Lang for the first time and not just as a mere movie character but someone who--if you know even a chunk of the Superman backstory--made a huge impact on Clark as he grew up was especially interesting.
I remember watching the season finale and flipping out over the cliffhanger ending.
I've been watching the series ever since, every week, barely missing an episode.
Check this series out if you haven't already. This stuff is good. Real good.

(Addicting) 『Never thought they'd be able to create a tv show as addictive as reading comics when I was a kid. Well they did and Smallville is the result. Once you start watching you'll be hooked like I was to comics as a kid LOL! I guess being obsessed with Lana Lang don't help either LOL. Anyways, even my older sister who hates anything to do with superhero's or comics, etc borrowed my dvd's and got hooked. My nephew watched like the whole season 1 straight through. Seems to be a trend with kids since my best friends's kid did the same so if you got kids keep them away from your collection or they won't go outside for days and will be stuck in front of the tv for hours straight! 』
(good) 『good but needs to work on how to ship products better so cases are not cracked when a customer gets it.』
(Good And Bad, From Someone Who Reads The Comics) 『Good: - Interesting villains (especially Lex) - Interesting and well executed stories - Great special effects - Solid and believable profile of a young Superman
Bad: - Kirstin Kreuk's (Lana Lang) horrendous acting. She does this weird breathy generic under acting thing that is just painful to watch - Every bad ska and "alternative" rock song from the radio in 2000 is featured on this show - Show can get a little too Dawson's Creek
Overall, this is a great show. 』
(Glad I finally discovered this show!) 『I was originally drawn to Smallville only because I knew Jensen Ackles was in season 4, but this is a sweet show with truly likable characters and actors. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I do; I thought it would be geared far too much toward teenagers. I was wrong; anyone can enjoy Smallville. It's a show that embraces it's comic book roots and expects you to as well. There has to be a freak of the week, there has to be someone for Clark to fight, so expect a lot of weird happenings for small town Kansas! Suspend disbelief and enjoy the fun!
Tom Welling really grows as an actor throughout the first season, Michael Rosenbaum is fantastic, and the rest of the cast is great. Give Smallville a chance and I guarantee you'll care about the characters and love the story.』 『Before the Legend...Before the Icon...He was a teenager growing up in Smallville. The Complete First Season of the hit series that chronicles the life of the boy who would be Superman is on DVD in a 6-disc collector's set with super bonus features.

』 『The venerable Superman mythos gets a 21st-century updating in this imaginative and engaging television series from the WB Network, and series fans can celebrate the ratings success ofSmallvillewith a six-disc set that compiles its entire first season. The deluxe package offers a chance to revisit the origins of the characters and their numerous plotlines, as well as view deleted scenes and other bonus features.
The premise ofSmallville--Superman as a teenager--takes up just a few pages in Superman's very first comic book appearance (inAction Comicsback in 1938), but series producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar flesh out that period by portraying young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) not as the noble Superman-in-waiting, but as an average teen with some not-so-ordinary supernatural powers, including incredible strength and heat vision (Clark hasn't lifted up, up, and away as of yet). Clark's desire to fit in with his peers and make sense of his extraordinary abilities ground him in very realistic and identifiable terms for the series' primarily under-25 audience, as does his appealing and tentative romance with Kristen Kreuk as Clark's dreamgirl Lana Lang. ButSmallvillealso strikes gold when it takes a turn towards more comic book territory, as evidenced by the parade of shape-shifting killers and other outlandish antagonists (many generated, in one of the series' most ingenious notions, by the same devastating meteor shower that brought the infant Clark to Earth) that Clark must harness his powers to face and defeat. Gough and Millar, along with their capable cast (which includes Michael Rosenbaum as a young and already bald-pated Lex Luthor, and Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as the Kents) manage to pull off the precarious high-wire act of combining science fiction with coming-of-age drama to create this highly watchable program.
Smallville: The Complete First Seasonoffers a very complete and attractive DVD package that is rounded out by some highly desirable extras for longtime series fans. The six-disc set offers all 21 episodes of the first season, including the pilot, in widescreen anamorphic format; Gough and Millar are featured on the set's sole commentary track, which appears on the pilot episode. Viewers can also access a number of deleted scenes from various episodes as well as view original pre-production storyboards and WB promotional spots. An interactive "tour" of Smallville rounds out the extras, but DVD-ROM owners can use the discs to access more features via theSmallvilleweb site.--Paul Gaita』

Not yet released Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (It just wasn't good) 『9 was one of the worst movies I've paid money to see on the big screen, and I'm glad I only devoted 80 minutes to it. Even so, it took every bit of will power I had in me to not walk out of the theater.
Granted, I didn't hate it... it didn't offend me, although I felt gypped. The animation is not as mind-blowing as people have said. At least, no more mind-blowing than anything Pixar has put out.
The biggest problem with 9 is the writing. Most of the lines in the film are cliche to the extent of being hilariously bad -- just as laughable as the cliche little personalities of the characters 1 through 9. I was literally laughing out loud when I think I should have been... I dunno... moved? Crying? Hiding my tears in order to seem tough?
You have one character that repeats the same cryptic line, "Go back to the source! Go back to the source," like some kind of jerk. And that's JUST the thing with this movie -- without giving too much away about the plot or how the movie ends -- the characters are very one-dimensional. They each have their own way of responding to things, and they never develop, change, or progress throughout the movie. I feel as though the writer is trying too hard to emphasize each character's uniqueness, and it becomes overkill after not-too-long. Only at the conclusion of the movie does it become apparent why the writer wrote for each of the characters in this way. Until then, the movie is frustrating to watch. I think it would have been less frustrating if the "big reveal" at the end was part of the plot all along. At least then I could empathize with the characters instead of becoming irritated.
Some people (either on IMDB or here on Amazon -- I don't remember) said that the viewer just needed to think about what was being said, etc. That's fine&dandy, but really, this is one movie that I just didn't find to be very profound. There is no gap in my understanding of the plot, believe you, me. I just think it could have been written much better.』
(A little shore but great story) 『Its quite interesting how 9 little things can do so much, the story is quite toutching and entertaining, it was kind of shore but overall great story!』
(A largely misunderstood but very average animation) 『Released on 9/9/09, 9 is computer animated film about 9 rag dolls, the sole "survivors" of a war-ravaged alternate universe, given life through a magical talisman invented by an aged scientist. Termed "stitchpunk" by its fans, it blends the aesthetics of a steampunk world (resembling WWII-era Western Europe) with science fiction, action, and some mysticism/ancient metaphysics. At 80 minutes, it is short.
Yes, the CG-work is absolutely fantastic and masterfully crafted, but what about the story? The story of technology turning against us is a familiar one. A well-meaning scientist invents an artificially intelligent robot capable of creating other machines, but it is soon made to create machines of war by an evil chancellor. World war starts, and the machines soon start exterminating humanity. The art direction is taken directly from Nazi-era Germany, depicting a corrupt and technology-obsessed military regime, complete with red, white, and black flags and insignias. The robot walkers are shaped like German infantry helmets. This part of the story is shown way too quickly, only as a flashback and a film news reel lasting a few minutes. More time could've been spent explaining this plot element and why the machines started killing all of mankind, and the resistance against them. There is not enough story development here and I feel this is a real weakness of the film. It's presented as a given that the machines just took over and destroyed the world, without showing you the protracted struggle against them by military forces.
Instead, all we know is the world is destroyed somehow and all that's left are the dolls and some machines hunting them down. What follows is one battle scene or chase after another as they try to find sanctuary. They're cool battle sequences with some fantastic mechanical design, but they don't flesh out the characters. I would've liked to see how they survived during the war before 9 came.
9 didn't do very well at the box office or with critics, and I can see perhaps why. Maybe it was the mishandled marketing strategy that left people confused. Some viewers mistook the film as being directed or designed by Tim Burton and were disappointed, an easy thing to do from casually glancing at the movie poster and seeing his name in big letters at the top, or because of the Oogie Boogie-like (doll 8). Being a first-time feature director, few moviegoers have heard of Shane Acker and the marketers tried to ride Burton's coattails and to a lesser extent, Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov's (Wanted, Daywatch, Night Watch).
Maybe it was CG fatigue on the part of the audience, who are tired of the endless streams of CG animations every year. Certainly, the movie poster didn't do anything to pique my interest or differentiate it from a sea of other CG/sci-fi films produced every year. Because of its apocalyptic wasteland setting and artificial lifeforms, some people also unfairly compared the film to Wall-E. And for its ragdolls and dark vision, 9 suffered comparisons to Coraline as well (from steampunk icon Neil Gaiman). Or maybe it was just the character design of the dolls. 9 looks like Sack Boy from the popular PS3 game LittleBigPlanet, right down to the zipper and burlap cloth texture, but he's not cute at all. This film is definitely not for kids. All the dolls are a bit creepy looking. For example, 5 has a metal plate sewn over half his head from a wound. We have dark, apocalyptic landscapes, and depictions of humans getting mowed down and gassed by the machines. Half of the dolls die in the film, shown in a visually disturbing manner. We also see their corpses.
All in all, 9 is a competently produced and highly detailed world, but the alone doesn't sell the story, which is just a notch above average. Voice acting is done very well, with the exception of a dull John C. Riley. Worth a look if you like dark sci-fi and action-filled animation, but otherwise totally skippable.
3.5/5』
(Great Film) 『This was a great movie that kind of came and went in a flash in theaters.
The tone is dark and apocalyptic but the story is engaging with enough fantasy elements to keep the wonder factor high.
9 revolves around an world where a ruthless dictatorship straight out of 1984 has unleashed thinking machines that have touched off a war with humanity. During which, apparently, all of mankind has been wiped out. However one scientist was able to create a set of dolls and infuse them with his spirit and they are all that is left of us as a species.
The machines still hunt through the ruins looking for enemies to destroy and these living dolls are on the menu. But when doll #9 finally awakens, it may be time for the status quo to change.
I really enjoyed this film and recommend it highly. I would say the film is suitable for teens and older. There's nothing of a graphic nature but the themes and tone is a bit dark for younger tastes. All in all an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.』
(Great Movie. Nevermind the People Who Got Bored and Felt 9 Was Rushed or Anti-Climactic.) 『WARNING: I'm about to spoil a message at the ending of the movie, 9. I've moved my old review hear because the theatrical release site got deleted.
The scene when the souls of 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 leave to the sky and burst into the clouds to make it rain, you would see omoebas forming from the inside of the rain drops. That simply is telling you 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 are starting evolution and life all over again. Its an amusing scene to watch and intriguing. Makes you think for yourself.
9 is visually stunning. Its a post-apocalyptic world of machines turning against humanity and slowly killing every human being on the planet. One scientist is left to create 9 rag dolls. The machines (B.R.A.I.N., stands for Binary Reactive Artifcially Intelligent Neurocircuit) were originally created by humanity to serve peace and protect them but the government forced the Scientists to let them use it for war, and that eventually went beyond B.R.A.I.N.'s limits and the machines turned against them slowly killing every human being on the planet, leaving the last Scientist to transfer his life force into 9 rag dolls to save humanity from total extinction (Scientist's voiced by Alan Oppemheimer).
A Talisman is a device the Scientist (voiced by Alan Oppemheimer) created so that it would collect the souls (spirits, or alive energy) from the stitchpunks (rag dolls). Its the device that has those 3 cryptic symbols on it and it glows green if there are souls traped inside. The scientist explains to 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) how the talisman works in this movie. I hope this explains a little more about what is going on in 9.
1 (voiced by Christopher Plummer) 2 (voiced by Martin Landau) 3&4 are unable to speak so there is no voice overs for these characters. 5 (voiced by John C. Reilly) 6 (voiced by Crispin Glover) 7 (voiced by Jennifer Connelly. The only female of the 9 rag-dolls) 8 (voiced by Fred Tatasciore) 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) Director: Shane Acker Producers: Tim Burton Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) Written By: Shane Acker (Original Story) Pamela Pettler Ben Gluck
9 the movie might be a little too short for some people. Its run-time is approx 80 minutes. Although all the visuals are well crafted and unique then other filmaking's vision of the extinction of humanity. The machines are well made as well and can be too scary for children ages 7 and up (or maybe not, I have underestimated children because some of them do enjoy these half scary and action/PG-13 movies and 9 is actually a fairly clean movie). There are good reasons for 9 to be rated PG-13. Its rated PG-13 for Violence and Scary Images. Its rated 12A in the U.K. by BBFC for Moderate Sustained Threat. Overall, 9 the movie is amazing to me and can be amazing for other people if they like these post-apocalypic/extinction futuristic movies. Personally, I am giving 9 a full price. Its exciting, amusing and it will make you think for yourself near the ending of this film. 9 is not boring at all, I don't understand whats all the complaining about. Yea, so what if there was an attraction with 7 (Jennifer Connelly) and 9 (Elijah Wood), Honestly, I don't care. Yes, they don't have private parts. I don't think they were meant to. The ending of this movie fits well together if thats you understand what Omoebas are. If you don't like movies that make you think, you are better off not seeing this. I thought 9 was one of the best movies of the year, the visuals of the crafted machines and what would happen if humanity become extinct visuals is amazing to watch alone. Full price movie all the way.
I almost forgot to say something else. The reason why all these Stitchpunk characters has no background stories is because they were just born in this movie. The only background story is the Scientist who gave life to the 9 stitchpunks and when the machines turn against humanity, that was it. If you don't understand, then you just don't get it. Not my problem. Watch the ending of this movie carefully without any high expectations because I think thats the biggest downfall of the audience and what leads them into hating the movie. Its not anti-climactic at all, people were simply expecting the movie to satisfy what they wanted to see from it. 9 is still a fantastic film as it is. But I am not truely forcing ANYBODY to understand this film. I can understand if its not really your cup of tea. I did like it a lot better when I was learning all the emotions of the 9 stitchpunks because it made the movie look more original and fun that way. The message at the end was not so harsh or disturbing. It was actually more interesting. Again, people just expected way too much from Shane Acker's latest creation. Again, 9 was an excellent film. If you are looking for something with a lot of background stories, then you should skip this movie completely because everyone who had the same expectations end up hating the movie. Though if you are looking for an original post-apocalypic film about the extinction of humanity that has no limits or rules, then 9 is for you.』 『From visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and Academy Award®-nominated director Shane Acker comes this visually stunning and original epic adventure. In the final days of humanity, a dedicated scientist gives the spark of life to nine of his creations. The world has turned into an unrecognizable landscape of machines and spare parts, but this group of nine finds that if they band together, their small community might just be able to change the course of history. Featuring the voice talents of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly and Crispin Glover, it’s a thrilling, suspenseful story critics call “richly imaginative.” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone)』 『Nine small rag dolls, stitched together from burlap and clock workings and lenses, are all that stands in the way of the world being overtaken by the Machines. Actually, as9begins, it looks like the Machines have already had their way with Earth: this is one of those post-apocalyptic landscapes without life, hope, or sunlight. Clearly9director Shane Acker is willing to make an animated film that doesn't soar with Disney colors or Pixar cheer--in fact, main characters are killed off before the movie's halfway through. Our hero is 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood), so dubbed for the number on his back; after awakening to very confused consciousness, he bumps into other puppet survivors, such as the imperious 1 (Christopher Plummer), the warrior-like 7 (Jennifer Connelly), and the one-eyed comic sidekick 5 (John C. Reilly). They do battle with the Machines in a relentless (and eventually monotonous) series of battles, and the exploding hardware and endless warfare has a tendency to crowd out whatever character development might have been set up in the opening minutes. No question the movie's design is impressive, and the characters have a wonderfully expressive quality at first. But at some point it seems the Machines have taken over the moviemaking here, with tedious results.--Robert Horton』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Every critic in the world seems to love this movie...) 『Meet Me in St. Louis (Vicente Minnelli, 1944)
I spent a good block of time in 2007 and 2008 compiling thousand-best lists found in books and on the Internet, either compilations (found in places like the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? website) or lists compiled by fans, critics, and the like, usually in book form (e.g. Jonathan Rosenbaum's thousand must-see films list, easily findable on the net, or the New York Times guide to the thousand best films, a book). I did a bunch of data mining with the compilation when I got done; ten lists gave me about thirty-eight hundred different movies, a great deal less than I expected. There's a lot of crossover. But that crossover is usually limited to two or three lists; when you start looking at films that appear on five or more lists, you get down to a very small selection of films. No single movie appears on all ten lists, which actually surprises me (for some reason, I had jotted down that there were two). Twenty-eight movies appear on nine of the ten lists; for trivia purposes, the odd man out in almost every case is the quirky, fun Halliwell list. But the twenty-eight in that nine-of-ten sublist are the cream of the crop. You've heard most of their names bandied about pretty much everywhere; The Maltese Falcon, Psycho, Last Tango in Paris, Rebel Without a Cause, that sort of thing. To my mind, there are only two outright surprises on the list (though I admit I paused for a moment at Hitchcock's Rebecca). One of them is Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark. The other is Meet Me in St. Louis. One doesn't normally think of period musicals as being among the best films of all time, at least not those not written by Ridgers and Hammerstein. And yet there it is. It's currently ranked as the 220th greatest movie ever made at They Shoot Pictures (down from 201st this month; TSPDT is a dynamic list that compiles surveys from almost two thousand critics), and everyone from Halliwell to Rosenbaum, and almost everyone in between, considers it a must-see.
Meet Me in St. Louis, set in the title city (mostly) during the winter before the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, is the story of a family: mom and dad, a son, four daughters, and a plucky housekeeper. Much of the picture centers on youngest daughter Tootie (adorable child star Margaret O'Brien, who's still going strong; as I write this, work is wrapping on her latest film, Frankenstein Rising), the real draw of the picture is Esther, the second-oldest daughter, played by Judy Garland. In any case, this is a character-driven picture for the most, part, so a plot synopsis is going to give much of the game away if I go anywhere substantive; it all starts off with Esther pining for the boy next door and oldest daughter Rose (Lucille Bremer) eagerly awaiting a call from New York City, during which she expects to be proposed to. Things all go haywire from there; misunderstandings, travails, and musical numbers abound as we head for the Christmas season.
I remain unconvinced that anyone remembers the film for anything other than two things that are, at best, incidental to it; it is the film in which the song "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" made its debut (with somewhat different lyrics than we have today), and it's the film where Vicente Minnelli met his future wife, Judy Garland. When it comes right down to the film, it's really something of a plotless mess, though quite a gaudy and fine-looking one. Judy Garland could cover Tom Waits and make it sound torchy, so when you've got songs that were written to her strengths, they're pretty much guaranteed winners, and Margaret O'Brien shows why she was the main successor to Shirley Temple in the realm of ultra-cute perky kids. The movie is marred, however, by the incredible stupidity of a number of its characters, most of all Esther, who makes bad decision after bad decision in order to advance various plot points. It could be argued, of course, that this is a musical, and realism pretty much flies out the window when it comes to musicals. True, but that doesn't mean you can't have realistic characters making realistic choices when they're not breaking into spontaneous, highly-choreographed dance numbers. (Singin' in the Rain, anyone?)
Dumb fun. I don't regret watching it, but it's not something I'll do again in the near future. **½ 』
(GREAT CONDITION GREAT FUN) 『i have had several bad experiences recently with items bought from amazon. i have not had the sellers OR amazon even reply to my many requests for attention to them. i was reluctant to purchase again, but we really wanted this movie and its hard to find. we are pleasantly surprised with the great condition and have enjoyed the great memories it has brought us. i am happy i took the chance. thank you Michele』
(A very enjoyable distraction) 『Good performances. A fun period piece. A good diversion. Overall, a solid movie. I'm not sure how St. Louis looked in 1903, but I'm going to guess that this movie approaches it with rose colored glasses. The family was solidly upper middle class and real problems were not plaguing them. But sometimes you want an escapist movie and you get this with this movie. I'm also a sucker for 'main street USA' movies set around 1900. Pollyanna, Two Weeks with Love (Ricardo Mantalbon, Debbie Reynolds, hard to find, but very good). etc...』
(Classic Family Film) 『Judy Garland is sweet and the songs are original and entertaining. This movie is great for the whole family. It has a lot of substance and no fillers. 』
(Meet Me In St. Louis is a Classic) 『This is my favorite movie of all time and I'm thrilled to have multiple copies to enjoy forever. Great Judy Garland music and choreography. Love the time period in the early 1900's and beautiful costumes. Can't go wrong with this one.』 『St. Louis 1903. The well-off Smith family has four beautiful daughters, including Esther and little Tootie. 17-year old Esther has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in, John. He however, barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transfered to a nice position in New York, which means that the family has to leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair.』 『One of the finest American musicals, this 1944 film by Vincente Minnelli is an intentionally self-contained story set in 1903, in which a happy St. Louis family is shaken to their roots by the prospect of moving to New York, where the father has a better job pending. Judy Garland heads the cast in what amounts to a splendid, end-of-an-era story that nicely rhymes with the onset of the 20th century. The film is extraordinarily alive, the characters strong, and the musical numbers are so splendidly part of the storytelling that you don't feel the film has stopped for an interlude.--Tom Keogh』

*** SOME SPOILERS **** Lost season 3 really picks up the pace and the action that was so severly missing in season 2. However, season 3 does take awhile to get started. The first few episodes really focus on Jack, Kate and Sawyer with the Others, while there are alot of other characters that we know nothing about (current situation wise, not character wise) so while that may be abit annoying to see the same characters every episode, this is on blu-ray so time flies. Watch as little or as much as you want. But the bottom line is that this season really picks up the action, marvelous story-telling and a jaw dropping season finale. If season 2 made you question your faith on Lost, season 3 will surely make you forget all the anger you felt before.
The main feel that I get from Lost season 3 is a "man vs man" feel with our castaways finally being involved with the mysterious world of the Others. And once we know who the Others are, their mysteries are not all lost. They're still a very hard to read group of individuals. And the story telling is wonderful (as it usually is) and characters that I couldn't really tolerate before (Kate) don't seem so terrible anymore. And Locke really comes into his own as we see him and Jack really begin to separate from what they believe in.
Episodes are action packed, many episodes have long-drawn out plot lines solved - and of course - more questions are raised. But the way that the story is weaved together here it never feels like anything drags or isn't touched on enough. And with new regulars in Ben and Juliette thats an impressive task to accomplish.
Season 3 is easily the most action, fast-paced season yet. Lots of explosions, guns and tense moments fill the season and the terrific season finale cannot go without comment. It's a mind bending, jaw dropping, heart racing stomp through the lucious green jungles of our perfectly hidden little island.
VISUALS 9.0 This was the first season to be released on blu-ray, but it's technically "newer" than season 1&2 so it looks surprisingly (aka: better) different from the later released first 2 seasons. The colors jump off the screen, and since we now have new location shown ("New Othertin") once we see the ocean and greens again, they really make you stand in awe. And seeing character sweat? Now that's impressive, yet kind of gross.
SOUND 10 The sound will almost always be a guaranteed 10 for Lost. The musical score is always masterful and always captures the scenes perfectly. And by now the cast and crew have figured out how to make great voice-over works and how to not have the ambient jungle / ocean noise smother the dialogue.
PACKAGING 8.4 Finally, a booklet! I hate that seasons 1&2 have no booklet but the DVD counterpart does. But here, we have a booklet! And that booklet gives directions for how to work "Access: Granted" the main special feature. Thank god they did because I could see people getting confused with that feature, but having instructions here? Extremely helpful. Very great addition. The discs though are the same as the DVD, kind of a let down. But the main menus are real time and everything looks stunning and feels correct for the season.
EXTRA FEATURES 8.3 "Access: Granted" (77:13) Is a massive feature that has inside looks at 21 (21!) loose-ends / unanswered questions from the previous seasons. While we don't get alot of solid answers, it's a decent feature. What happens is Cuse and Lindelof (main creative team for the show) talk about a certain topic, then you can watch what TV personalities think is happening (sometimes eerily close to what is actually the truth) and then watch a clip series about that segment. Like I said, decent at best, but some interesting tidbits are to be found.
"Blu-Prints of Season 3" (16:31) A look at 5 of the sets in the season. The most interesting is the tour of Ben's house by Michael Emerson, but all have something interesting to learn about them.
"Lost: On Location" (58:10) Almost an hour of footage for the standard "on location" shoots. Here there are 10 different features for the segment. I've never been a huge fan of this feature because it's very 'behind the scenes' / production-like feel and doesn't add anything to the show. Will be good for fans of this type of work.
"Crew Tribute with Evangeline Lilly" (7:18) A useless feature that has Lilly showing us the behind the scenes people who make the show work.
"Lost in a Day" (25:34) An astounding half hour feature that shows just what the hell goes on in a busy day in the world of Lost. I was stunned at how much I learned about how many episodes are being worked on at once and how hectic every hour of a day can be. Phenomenal.
"The Lost Flashbacks" (5:39) There are 3 flashbacks, all of which are completely useless. I have no idea why they add these, there's nothing close to interesting in 2 of the 3. And the one 'okay' one is just an extended scene. Fluff piece for sure.
"Deleted Scenes" (16:20) A little bit better than usual, but still nothing that needs to be seen. Surprisingly, alot of the scenes have to deal with Nikki and Paulo. That sucked, but some are decent.
"The World of the Others" (14:12) I was expecting more of this feature. Sadly, all this feature is is Emerson and Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliette) talking about what they think the Others are. Other cast members join the discussion, but nothing is revealed.
"Terry O'Quinn: Throwing from the Handle" (1:40) Terry O'Quinn throws a knife into a dollar bill. That's it.
"Lost Bloopers" (6:35) More jungle hilariousness that sometimes isn't hilarious.
"Lost Book Club" (8:12) I was really interesting in seeing what literature had to do with the main story of Lost. Sadly, I was again disappointed as the feature gives away the ending of several books and talks with cast members about what they think the book means. I wish there was a list of books used / shown in the show so I could make like a checklist to read to see if it connects with the show. Did I get that? Nope.
"Cast in Clay" (5:13) Fluff piece about Todd McFarlane making the toys of Lost and watching the making of process. Kind of interesting, but feels like a quick add in to build up the features.
"The Next Level: Inside the Videogame" (4:04) Another fluff piece about the making of the (supposedly, but I haven't played it yet) terrible videogame of Lost. Comes off to me as the creators of the show trying to get people to buy this product already.
"The Orchid Instructional Video" (2:10) A neat, but almost disturbing DHARMA video. It says alot in a short period of time about what seems to be going wrong with DHARMA experiments. I wish there was more DHARMA videos on the blu-ray / DVD releases.
The set also comes with four commentaries. I enjoyed all of them except for "I Do" in which Josh Holloway never talks and LIlly just rambles on about the same three moments of the episode. I was pleasantly surprised by "Expose" which was done by just the writers of the episode (who are not Cuse or Lindelof). They do a great job of adding great details and back story to a puzzling episode. The other two are good and great because they have Lindelof and Cuse, and on "The Man Behind the Curtain", Michael Emerson! Elizabeth Mitchell is with Cuse on "A tale of Two Cities" and while it's a little dry, it isn't too bad.
FINAL VERDICT Lost season 3 certainly seems to have learned from the complaints about the first 2 seasons and it doesn't take long to dwelve into the chaotic nature of the show. More guns, more great characters, more tension building character moments and a magnificent ending. The season is filled to the brim with terrific episodes almost to the extent that I worry what season four could possibly do better (don't worry season 4 is better). The extra features are the best yet for a Lost blu-ray / DVD set, really making this set worth it.
But, if you have the DVD counterpart, should you upgrade to blu-ray? Well, that depends how much you love the show. The main special feature that is 'blu-ray exclusive' is "Access: Granted" which is over an hour of footage about certain mysteries, but it doesn't give you anything concrete. So if you're upgrading to find out mysteries, you will be extremely upset.
However, visually, it is stunning. DVD cannot come close to matching what the show looks like on a great 1080p set on blu-ray. Evene with a top of the line upconvert DVD player and HDMI cable, you'll be amazed at the massive difference. It certainly is a great visual piece for fans of blu-ray who want to show off what it looks like.
Lost has easily become one of my favorite shows, based on just the show. But the addition of impressive bonus features makes me enjoy the show even more. Fantastic third season of a fantaastic show.

(The Best Season In Television History) 『This is my favorite season of LOST. It never seems to get boring it's constantly moving and changing. First they're captured then they're freed with a twist involved. The first six episodes are a mini season ending with a cliffhanger that left you stew for three months breathless. This season had a lot of great twists and turns with the Hatch, Nikki and Paulo, Charlie finding his fate, and Desmond teleporting through time. Then the finale hit and by the way the finale is my favorite episode of the series. It left you breathless and keep you wondering and obsessing over the long hiatus just what that last scene meant and what it would lead to. In a way the series had no where to go but down. The series in my mind has gone down after this season. The fourth season was still pretty good, but the fifth season was a mistake. They did however rectify it in the season 5 finale and it looks like season 6 the final season may rival this season for the best of the series. Anyway the third season is a must watch as you learn more about the others, the island, the man behind the curtain, and most importantly you delve deeper and with finer focus the lives and pasts of the survivors. This season like the previous two had a much different feel. It introduced so much information that is still prevalent in the final season. This season is the greatest 23 hours of television you will ever watch. The Blu Ray is crisp and clear and brings you closer to the island then you ever thought possible. If you're on the fence on whether you should buy this on Blu Ray or DVD do yourself a favor and pay the extra money the video quality and extra special features are well worth it. Rating 5/5 』

』 『When it aired in 2006-07,Lost's third season was split into two, with a hefty break in between. This did nothing to help the already weirdly disparate direction the show was taking (Kate and Sawyer in zoo cages! Locke eating goop in a mud hut!), but when it finally righted its course halfway through--in particular that whopper of a finale--the drama series had left its irked fan base thrilled once again. This doesn't mean, however, that you should skip through the first half of the season to get there, because quite a few questions find answers: what the Others are up to, the impact of turning that fail-safe key, the identity of the eye-patched man from the hatch's video monitor. One of the series' biggest curiosities from the past--how Locke ended up in that wheelchair in the first place--also gets its satisfying due. (The episode, "The Man from Tallahassee," likely was a big contributor to Terry O'Quinn's surprising--but long-deserved--Emmy win that year.)
Unfortunately, you do have to sit through a lot of aforementioned nuisances to get there. Season 3 kicks off with Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) held captive by the Others; Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sun (Yunjin Kim), and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) on a mission to rescue them; and Locke, Mr. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) in the aftermath of the electromagnetic pulse that blew up the hatch. Spinning the storylines away from base camp alone wouldn't have felt so disjointed were it not for the new characters simultaneously being introduced. First there's Juliet, a mysterious member of the Others whose loyalty constantly comes into question as the season goes on. Played delicately by Elizabeth Mitchell (Gia, ER, Frequency), Juliet is in one turn a cold-blooded killer, by another turn a sympathetic friend; possibly both at once, possibly neither at all. (She's also a terrific, albeit unwitting, threat to the Kate-Sawyer-Jack love triangle, which plays out more definitively this season.) On the other hand, there's the now-infamous Nikki and Paulo (Kiele Sanchez and Rodrigo Santoro), a tagalong couple who were cleverly woven into the previous seasons' key moments but came to bear the brunt of fans' ire toward the show (Sawyer humorously echoed the sentiments by remarking, "Who the hell are you?"). By the end of the season, at least two major characters die, another is told he/she will die within months, major new threats are unveiled, and--as mentioned before--the two-part season finale restores your faith in the series.
The extras are as well-stocked as a Dharma Initiative food pantry on this seven-disc set. Commentaries by producer Damon Lindelof, show writers, and numerous cast members reveal a whole lot of juicy trivia; plus, the DVDs even provide a subtitle track for the commentary (rarely seen other than on foreign-language director's commentaries) so you won't miss a thing. "Lost Book Club" goes through the parallels between what characters are reading and the show's storylines (The Wizard of Ozand Stephen King are heavily referenced). "Lost: On Location" gives a lot of insight to some of the biggest episodes, and "Lost in a Day" gives a 24-hour glimpse at the drama's arduous production. If you're aLostfan who gave up during this season, the bonus features alone might lure you back for the next round.--Ellen A. Kim

』 『The Santa Clause Divorced toy company executive Scott Calvin (Tim Allen ofHome Improvementand theToy Storymovies) is pleased to have his son Charlie for Christmas, though the boy himself isn't happy about it. But when Santa Claus accidentally topples off the roof of the house and falls with a thud in the snow, Scott finds himself taking the merry old elf's place and earning new respect in his son's eyes. When the night ends, the reindeer take them to the north pole, and Scott discovers that by donning the fabled red suit, he's inadvertently agreed to become the next Santa Claus. The next morning he wakes up in his own bed and thinks it's all a dream--only Charlie remembers it with crystal clarity. Scott now has to deal with his suspicious ex-wife (Wendy Crewson,Air Force One) and her psychiatrist boyfriend (Judge Reinhold,Beverly Hills Cop), who both think he's playing tricks with Charlie's mind, and also with his own out-of-control body, which is putting on weight and growing a prodigious beard. The Santa Clauseprobably won't supplantIt's a Wonderful LifeorMiracle on 34th Streetas anyone's favorite holiday film, but it's an enjoyable, straightforward family film, anchored by the affable charisma of Allen.--Bret Fetzer
The Santa Clause 2 Considering how lame this sequelcouldhave been,The Santa Clause 2makes for a pleasant holiday diversion. It's got the familiar smell of Disney marketeering, and more than a few parents will object to this further embellishment of the St. Nick legend, but Tim Allen's amiable presence provides ample compensation. As a divorced dad who inherited the jolly man's job inThe Santa Clause, Allen now faces another Yuletide challenge. According to the "Missus Clause" in his North Pole contract, he can't continue to be the real Santa until he gets married. As luck and five credited screenwriters would have it, Allen falls for the Scrooge-y principal (Elizabeth Mitchell) of his son's school, while a phony, power-hungry duplicate Santa wreaks havoc on the North Pole's overworked elves. It's all as sweet as spiced eggnog, with that warmed-over feel of a mandated sequel, but the Christmas spirit does prevail with the sound of sleigh bells and Allen's rosy-cheeked ho, ho, ho!--Jeff Shannon
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause How about a new villain and a dash ofIt's a Wonderful Lifeto spice up the third installment of the popular Tim Allen holiday franchise? Under the onslaught of another Christmas season, Santa Claus/Scott Calvin (Allen) is feeling even more pressure because Mrs. Claus (Elizabeth Mitchell, reprising her role fromThe Santa Clause 2) is expecting a little Claus and also longing for the company of some "tall people." So Scott agrees to let her parents (Ann-Margret and Alan Arkin) visit as long as they believe that they're really in Canada rather than at the North Pole. Further complicating matters is a visit by Scott's ex-wife (Wendy Crewson), her husband (Judge Reinhold), and their daughter, Lucy (Liliana Mumy). Enter the bad boy of the Council of Legendary Figures, Jack Frost (Martin Short), who's supremely jealous of the figures who have their own holidays, especially Santa. So he launches a plan to sabotage the toy factory and compel Scott to invoke the little-known Escape Clause and wish he'd never become Santa. The resulting evocation of a classic Christmas movie,It's a Wonderful Life, is seasoned with a splash ofBack to the Futurewhen Scott rewinds 12 years (has it really been that long?) to when it all began. Though neither sequel has matched the charm of the originalSanta Clause, both have been safe, reliable family fare. (All ages: some crude humor)--David Horiuchi』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Revolting NORP Regurgitation) 『Here, ultrahack Brett Ratner and the profoundly untalented screenwriting duo of David Diamond and David Weissman perform an inexplicable and boring magic trick by stretching a well-worn scenario that could barely suffice as a half-hour television show into the longest two hours and six minutes in the history of motion pictures. I often check the time counter of my DVD player once, maybe twice when viewing a movie; while watching this slogging, entirely uninspired dreck, I checked it over a dozen times, always bewildered by how little time had actually elapsed.
Nicolas Cage plays a successful Wall Street broker with no social life and, like every other character of this rancid story, nary a whit of personality, either. With the aid of sassy, magical, pistol-wielding Don Cheadle, he's transported to an alternate dimension in which he sells tires and is blessed with a loving family...the life he could have had if he hadn't gotten on THAT PLANE thirteen years ago! Christ, what a pristine concept! It's the life he could have had, but he doesn't realize how much better it is to have a family than an nine-figure bank account and investment assets out the wazoo until he experiences a succession of charmless, totally predictable incidents in the life of a godforsaken Jersey NORP.
This story's conflict of choice is utterly beyond me; why does Cage want to move back to NYC and start his career over with his surprise brood when he lives in a gigantic house beyond the means of all but the most prosperous middle-class families (it's cute when production designers who live in ivory towers try to depict the working-class household) and could simply quit his job and use what he knows to engage in insider trading without ever being caught? The performances are bland at best (Cage, Téa Leoni) and infuriating at worst: as always, Jeremy Piven is enragingly obnoxious, so annoying in his overacting that I'd thrill to see him thrown into rush hour traffic on the Long Island Expressway. Saddled with yet more ugly, blue-tinted photography, Ratner's direction would be rote if it weren't so calculatedly, pointlessly drawn - there's no depth here to convey; he's just dragging every scene out as long as he possibly can to satisfy studio expectations of a two-hour feature.
If you want to see almost everything that's wrong with American cinema, Ratner's filmography and this flavorless entry in particular are endemic of it. This is gutless, brainless, wholly derivative film making. It's bound to insult the intelligence of any viewer with a triple-digit IQ who makes the mistake of watching it. Consider yourself warned.
Incredible - Universal barely graced "Dune" with an adequate DVD edition the first time around, but this garbage was treated to all the trimmings. There are nine deleted scenes (as if this wasn't already three-fourths too long), a featurette that's probably handy if you're out of NyQuil and three (THREE, HOLY CHRIST) commentary tracks: one by Ratner, Diamond and Weissman that surely sounds like a great sucking noise, another from producer Marc Abraham that's about as fascinating as tax code literature and one more in which Danny Elfman discusses the movie's insipid, sleigh bell-tinged score, probably the worst he's ever composed. So Elfman couldn't have voiced a commentary track for "Beetlejuice" or "Batman?" He had to discuss a score that sounds as though he wrote it on a napkin or three during a conversation? If all this doesn't put you to sleep...there's also a Seal music video on this disc. Zzzzzz.』
(A new approach to the trading places theme) 『4 of 5 stars for the romance movie The Family Man. This is a variation on the trading places theme. Rich, high-power Wall Street business man (Nicolas Cage) runs into a street character (Don Cheadle) who causes Cage's character to have lived a different path in his life. Cage awakens to find a wife and kids where he was single before. The wife turns out to be an old girlfriend; so this is the life-path where he marries her. Hard to know if it was all a dream or not. No real explaination of how he got moved into this alternate life-path nor how he eventually returned to his original path. No explaination of Cheadle's "powers" or role in all of this.
Nice relationship between Cage and his girlfriend/wife (Tea Leoni). Very believeable as a married couple with kids. A nicely made movie, good story, novel approach to the trading places theme. It is a fun and sweet movie worth watching.』
(A Great Funny Story, better than Dick and Jane) 『I you like either character you'll love this little life's changes story with a bit of magic thrown in to move the people around a little. Some very memberal characters added, make it a great all year round holiday movie』
(I have a confession to make) 『My fiance and I snuck into this movie. We had certificates for Jim Carrey's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", but we weren't in the mood for that, so we snuck into the theater that was playing this. I have no regrets as this movie made me hold my fiance a little bit tighter that night. Life is about choices, and Jack Campbell has to make that decision when his girlfriend tries to talk him out of going to Oxford University to pursue a financial scholarship, and begin life with her then and now. Kate is a beautiful girl, and Jack is caught between a rock and a hard place, and ends up leaving her at the airport, and goes onto success on Wall Street, but his life is lonely, and he has no one to love him in that special way. He's made aware of this when one night on the way home he is acosted by a gun toting criminal, and more or less Jack is made to review his life, and Jack just blows him off, and goes home to bed, and then he wakes up married to Kate, and is a father of 2. They live in a house in Jersey, and Jack works for Kate's uncle at a tire store. Jack is not sure of how to deal with this, and at first he doesn't believe this is happening, but as time goes on he begins to love Kate, and his children. However, the dream ends and Jack wakes up alone. He got a note from Kate to see him again, and now he wonders what's up. It turns out that Kate has done well for herself, and she just wants Jack to pick up his stuff before she moves to her new home.....Jack can't believe how beautiful Kate looks, and now feels like he has to make a move somehow, however, this time he makes the right decision, and stays with Kate. I am not much into romantic movies, but this is one of my 5 favorite romantic movies, and as I said I held my fiance a little bit tighter that night. This was overlooked, and should be considered a classic as Nicholas Cage and Tia Leone turned in good performances. I know that this movie also taught me that the best way to go was with dvd as when I first wanted to buy this movie, and I was going to buy it!!!!However, the VHS copy was fifty bucks, and the dvd was a lot less. I still watch this to this day, and hope I will be remarried again someday.』
(Jobs vs. Children) 『Excellent story line, especially for those transitioning from college into the work world. It makes you think about your own life and what you might want』 『High-powered Wall Street bachelor Jack Campbell (Nicolas Cage) gets the shock of a lifetime when he wakes up one morning in suburban New Jersey next to Kate (Téa Leoni) the girlfriend he left 13 years ago. His round-the-clock routine of empty luxuries is disturbed one lonely Christmas Eve when a gun-packing punk (Don Cheadle)--perhaps an angel of mercy--responds to an altruistic gesture from Jack by giving him "a glimpse" of the life he could have had.Could have, that is, if he had married the girlfriend (Téa Leoni) he'd abandoned 13 years earlier, raised two adorable children, worked in his father-in-law's retail tire outlet, and lived happily ever after in suburban New Jersey. Thrust into this "glimpse" of the path not taken, Jack's a single-malt man in a lite-brew world, wondering if he'll ever return to his "better" life of callous wealth and solitude--or if he even wants to.
Carp all you want about this derivative premise, with its marginal stereotypes and biased embrace of domestic bliss and dirty diapers. The simple fact is,The Family Manworks like a charm. Under the assured direction of Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), this holiday crowd-pleaser offers comedy and chemistry in equal measure, making the hilarity of Jack's predicament a smooth catalyst for that rarest of movie romances: the marital love story. Leoni is Cage's perfect match as Jack's idealized but imperfect wife, and the movie's appeal largely derives from its awareness thatanylife has its pleasures and pains. While it only flirts with the dark desperation that makesIt's a Wonderful Lifea classic predecessor,The Family Manis an irresistible what-if fantasy, and even its debatable ending rides on a wave of genuine warmth and sentiment.--Jeff Shannon』

(Excellent) 『The item was received in a timely manner and was in excellent (new) condition. Thanks!』 『This modern adaptation of the holiday classic casts Barbie in two roles, Clara and the Sugarplum Princess, as she embarks on a musical fantasy adventure for girls of all ages. New York City Ballet's Peter Martins choreographed this wonderful animated film, with music by The London Symphony Orchestra, and featuring the voice of Tim Curry as the Mouse King.』 『Look who became a star. Barbie comes to life in this computer-animated Christmas tale that quite naturally takes the longtime favorite doll into a new realm. The plot is a slight variation on the traditional ballet based on Tchaikovsky's music. Instead of being in an open-ended dream, Barbie and her escort, the Nutcracker (soon to be Ken, natch), are on an adventurous quest. Along the way there are more creatures and derring-do than in the original. The sole known voice talent, Tim Curry, has a good old time as the Mouse King, and the animated dancing is gracefully adapted from New York City Ballet choreography. A few clever characters, bright animation, and wonderful music should entrance any Barbie fans ages 3 to 9. The 78-minute feature debuted on video shortly before playing on CBS in 2001.--Doug Thomas』

(The Original Matrix in Full HD Glory) 『The Matrix fandom is heavily divided between those who loved the entire trilogy and those who regard the first one as a true classic with two sub-par follow-ups. Whatever side you support, there's no denying that the first Matrix is indeed a classic that revolutionized the industry and raised the bar on many layers (from special effects and sound to editing). It's a well paced, action packed, philosophical science fiction master piece.
If you already own the collection on DVD, this is the one "must" to upgrade to Hi-Definition. It looks and sounds superb on Blu-Ray and it has all the special features (related only to the first movie) that come in the collector's set plus a color booklet.
The digibook package hasn't been received with unconditional love by everyone, but it does give a "special edition feel" and provides decent protection to the disc.
Some people will prefer "The Ultimate Matrix Collection", but for those of us who loved the original the most and are unwilling to pay upgrades for everything, this is the edition to get. 』
(Is it real or is it Matrix?) 『For many, "The Matrix" is great special effects and great science fiction, which it undoubtedly is, and undoubtedly one of the best of the genre, but it is much more than that.
The Matrix is a spot-on science fiction analogy and metaphor for the manufactured and bogus reality (or "Matrix") that Americans are trapped in. The Matrix is a created artificial reality that is so well-done that actual reality is completely concealed. In the movie's Matrix and in the real (?) world , sometimes there is a "glitch" in the perception of "reality" that alerts a member of the Matrix that something is wrong with reality as they know it. Neo (Keanu Reeves) pierces the computer-created reality and fights the "agents" that are the enforcers of the artificial intelligence that is exploiting humans (using them as organic batteries) and using the created reality of the Matrix to conceal their reality of exploitation. This, of course, is easily analogized to using a media created reality enforced by various corporate agents to conceal their victims' similar exploitation as organic profit generators.
The Matrix is a milestone in moviemaking, special effects, fantastic action sequences, and use of an intelligent and imaginative science fiction plot to convey a message...a classic must-see movie.
』
(A Classic) 『One of the best sci-fi action films ever made. I was hoping the sequels would be up to the same par, but no. This is the original classic.』
(The Matrix - bluray) 『First of all this is my all time favorite movie. Prior to ordering this bluray version I've watched the dvd I have probably 15 times. But, the bluray is so stunning that I look at it as an entirely new movie. It is so clear that you can see the pores on the faces of all the actors. This sounds like a "yuk" thing, but, believe me, if the pores are so outstanding everything else is even more amazing.
Now the bad news: it may just be this disk, but the "In Movie Experience" i.e. the commentaries reset to play automatically each time I stop or eject the movie. When reviewing the location in Special Features to turn it "Off", it already says "Off" but plays anyway. The only way I found to stop it is to turn it "On" then go back and turn it "Off". This only works for this one time I'm playing, but, as before it comes back by itself even though it still says "Off". I'm trying to get the disk exchanged, but it's only been two days since I submitted my request. I am surprised I haven't even received an email response, however.』 『A computer programmer is mankind's last chance for survival against the machines that generated a computer based reality in which we all live. Neo (Keanu Reeves) tries to live up to his calling as the chosen one and lead mankind to freedom from their comatose slave.』 『By following up their debut thrillerBoundwith the 1999 box-office smashThe Matrix, the codirecting Wachowski brothers--Andy and Larry--annihilated any suggestion of a sophomore jinx, crafting one of the most exhilarating sci-fi/action movies of the 1990s. Set in the not too distant future in an insipid, characterless city, we find a young man named Neo (Keanu Reeves). A software techie by day and a computer hacker by night, he sits alone at home by his monitor, waiting for a sign, a signal--from what or whom he doesn't know--until one night, a mysterious woman named Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) seeks him out and introduces him to that faceless character he has been waiting for: Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne). A messiah of sorts, Morpheus presents Neo with the truth about his world by shedding light on the dark secrets that have troubled him for so long: "You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad." Ultimately, Morpheus illustrates to Neo what the Matrix is--a reality beyond reality that controls all of their lives, in a way that Neo can barely comprehend.
Neo thus embarks on an adventure that is both terrifying and enthralling. Pitted against an enemy that transcends human concepts of evil, Morpheus and his team must train Neo to believe that he is the chosen champion of their fight. With mind-boggling, technically innovative special effects and a thought-provoking script that owes a debt of inspiration to the legacy of cyberpunk fiction, this is much more than an out-and-out action yarn; it's a thinking man's journey into the realm of futuristic fantasy, a dreamscape full of eye candy that will satisfy sci-fi, kung fu, action, and adventure fans alike. Although the film is headlined by Reeves and Fishburne--who both turn in fine performances--much of the fun and excitement should be attributed to Moss, who flawlessly mixes vulnerability with immense strength, making other contemporary female heroines look timid by comparison. And if we were going to cast a vote for most dastardly movie villain of 1999, it would have to go to Hugo Weaving, who plays the feckless, semipsychotic Agent Smith with panache and edginess. As the film's box-office profits soared, the Wachowski brothers announced thatThe Matrixis merely the first chapter in a cinematically dazzling franchise--a chapter that is arguably superior to the other sci-fi smash of 1999 (you know... the one starring Jar Jar Binks).--Jeremy Storey』

Not really much here, it's the original theatrical version. Others have reviewed the movie itself, just wanted to add that the extra footage of ed209 shooting the executive is not in this version. Transfer...actually not very good. I have the special edition that has the extra footage in it, and on my upscaling dvd player (1080i) it looks nearly as good. Beyond that the special features are minimal and the audio was merely ok. Too bad, I wanted this to be better.
With all that said, the price for the blu-ray makes it a good buy, especially if you don't have this in your collection. For the rest of us who like the gore and violence as it was intended...I'm sure a special edition will come out someday.』
(amazing scii fi series that blew everything else away.) 『I grew up watching Robocop. Just one of those awesome production films that are not too full of it. The whole 1-3 videos. I still remember the video games and all from Robocop in the early 90s if i'm correct. Plan on buying the DVD, can't wait to see it in a digital format so to speak. Then they offer it on Blu Ray which is prolly amazing... my main point, Robocop is a Sci Fi thriller like no other that you will never get tired of.』
(You'r Underarrest) 『Finally Justice is served Robocop is on a 2 disc special edition dvd. robocop is one of the most awesome movies i've ever seen. this is a must see movie』
(8th Man anyone?) 『First, let me say that Robocop is anything but original. It is a complete rip off of the Japanese cartoon of the early 1960's called 8th man. Many of these episodes were translated to English and aired on US television. It is so similar I have to wonder if there was a lawsuit.
Police reporter Peter Brady is run down by mobster and a scientist takes his dying body and transfers his mind into the invincible robot body of 8th Man. He than dedicates his life to catching criminals. 8th Man was infinitely better and I highly recommend it to anyone.
I know there some cool elements about this movie but. it is still a good idea in a bad movie. I think people are so enamored by the story and special effects that they don't look more critically at the movie itself. It was a horrible movie. It was ugly, violent and depressing in general. The city's denizens also seemed dark and not worth saving. It reminds me of how Gotham City is portrayed in the Batman movies. They portray it in a way that you feel who would want to save it. You feel they should just level the city and start over. It could have been much better.』 『There's a new law enforcer in town and he's half man, half machine! From the director of Total Recall and Basic Instinct comes a "sci-fi fantasy with sleek, high-powered drive" (Time) about an indestructible high-tech policeman who dishes out justice at every turn! When a good cop (Peter Weller) gets blown away by some ruthless criminals, innovative scientists and doctors are able to piece him back together as an unstoppable crime-fighting cyborg called "Robocop." Impervious to bullets and bombs, and equipped with high-tech weaponry, Robocop quickly makes a name for himself by cleaning up the crime-ridden streets of violence-ravaged Detroit.』 『When it arrived on the big screen in 1987, Paul Verhoeven'sRoboCopwas like a high-voltage jolt of electricity, blending satire, thrills, and abundant violence with such energized gusto that audiences couldn't help feeling stunned and amazed. The movie was a huge hit, and has since earned enduring cult status as one of the seminal science fiction films of the 1980s. Followed by two sequels, a TV series, and countless novels and comic books, this originalRoboCopis still the best by far, largely due to the audacity and unbridled bloodlust of director Verhoeven. However, the reasons many enjoyed the film are also the reasons some will surely wish to avoid it. Critic Pauline Kael called the movie a dubious example of "gallows pulp," and there's no denying that its view of mankind is bleak, depraved, and graphically violent. In the Detroit of the near future, a policeman (Peter Weller) is brutally gunned down by drug-dealing thugs and left for dead, but he survives (half of him, at least) and is integrated with state-of-the-art technology to become a half-robotic cop of the future, designed to revolutionize law enforcement. As RoboCop holds tight to his last remaining shred of humanity, he relentlessly pursues the criminals who "killed" him. All the while, Verhoeven (from a script by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner) injects this high-intensity tale with wickedly pointed humor and satire aimed at the men and media who cover a city out of control. --Jeff Shannon』 『When it arrived on the big screen in 1987, Paul Verhoeven'sRoboCopwas like a high-voltage jolt of electricity, blending satire, thrills, and abundant violence with such energized gusto that audiences couldn't help feeling stunned and amazed.
