("This is the sort of excitement that makes eternity bearable.")
『In a way, it's a bit of an overstatement to call the three stories included in this set a trilogy, for each is very distinct in both style and substance. Thankfully so, since variety is the spice of life. Linking the three ever so loosely though is the introduction of Turlough and his Faustian bargain with the Black Guardian, a cosmic being with a grudge against the Doctor. In a way, saddling the Doctor with a "rubbish" companion (well before Adam in 2005's "Dalek"&"The Long Game") is an inventively risky idea, and having a thoroughly unpleasant and devious character among the Tardis crew adds a suspenseful twist to the stories on the one hand, while on the other it often devolves into Turlough repetitively stepping not quite but almost out of earshot and hissing into a glowing crystal for instructions from his erstwhile Mephistopheles. Be that as it may, something beyond the bounds of the tried and true is laudably being attempted here. The trilogy as a whole also happens to transpire roughly during the middle of Peter Davison's tenure as the Fifth Doctor, a moment when his approach to the character seems to have become comfortably established while still retaining some of its initial freshness. On that score, then, these three stories amply demonstrate in both their significant strengths and minor pitfalls a good deal of what "Doctor Who" was capable of in 1983.

"Mawdryn Undead" is a particularly strong story that unusually makes the most of the potential for time paradox in the show's premise and even more unusually features an antagonist whose ambition is not to conquer nor destroy but to die. The reappearance of the Brigadier along with other references to the show's history are rather skillfully woven into the plot, although the resolution is a bit of a let-down, taking place not through the Doctor's own cleverness nor even the bravery of his companions past and present but limply through a credulity-straining coincidence. Likewise straining one's credulity in "Terminus" is the idea that a load of starship fuel could set off a chain reaction destroying not just a planet, a solar system, or even a galaxy, but the entire universe (!). One can't help but suspect that the writer's concept of cosmology and its scale is a bit uninformed. That said, the story deftly balances the grim imagery of drudgery and disease with resonant mythological motifs while confronting the contradictions between the profit motive and medical care in a way that coincidentally seems unusually relevant more than two decades later. Finally, "Enlightenment" is the real gem of this trilogy. There is something indescribably eerie about it. And yet it's also just an incredibly well-written science fiction tale juxtaposing impeccable expertise in historical detail with an utterly surreal context. The tone can pitch dramatically in range from hauntingly mysterious, boisterously campy, firmly moralistic, and strangely romantic--and yet the tale as a whole, while marred a bit here and there by some overacting, holds together wonderfully and verges on the profound without losing its sense of fun and adventure.

Come to think of it, then, on a deeper level certain rather weighty themes do in fact run through these three stories after all: temptation and redemption, death and regeneration, time and eternity, order and chaos, not to mention the unsuitability of dead birds as headgear.』

(Davison deserves more recognition)
『The Fifth Doctor deserves more recognition!!! There, I've said it. Coming after the immensely popular Tom Baker, Peter always seems to get the short end of the stick. Everyone talks about Tom, and Collin's portrayal is a lightning rod for conversation. Peter did some wonderful episodes, and this storyline is among his best. No, it isn't up there with Kinda(one of my favorite episodes), but this is well worth the investment of time and money. The Guardian is such an interesting character, introduced during Baker's tenure and reintroduced here. The first and last episodes really shine. Just well plotted and acted. Torlough is a vastly underrated character, and here he is at his best. Just a really fun ride, full of Whovian turns that will captivate you and your kids. This one is great Sunday family time. Enjoy!!!!』

(Don't Miss This One!!!)
『I am sure many fans of the clasic series were hoping these three episodes would be released together and sure enough the Doctor Who Restoration Team did not disapoint us. The three episodes in the box set hail from Doctor Who's 20th aniversary Season (5th Doctor Peter Davison's 2nd season). While that season seemed a bit dis-jointed at times it did have one of those "moments" that reminded you why you loved Doctor Who in the First place. I am of course talking about the real "Gem" of this box set...Mawdryn Undead. This episode is so cleverly executed from start to finish. The writing, the direction and the acting are all top shelf! The story revolves around a group of alien immortals deperatly trying to escape the curse of immortality. The doctor is flung into the middle of their struggle by the bent on revenge "Black Gaurdian" and his emotionaly twisted and unwilling assassan Turlough (sounds like ter-low). The Doctor is aided in this episode by the returning Brigadere Lethbridge Stewart who is now retired from UNIT and teaching at an all boys school. This is truly the Brigadere's finest hour in the program's history as Nicholas Courtney returns to the role and plays the aging veteran to perfection. The episode also features a brilliant plot twist that has the doctors companions Tegan and Nyssa sent back in time some nine years or so and yet they are still able to aid the Doctor as events unfold. Other highlights are the brilliant set designs on Mawdryn's ship, the music score and a nice little "flashback" during episode two...But I'll say no more to protect first time viewers.
The other two episodes in the box set, Terminus and Enlightenment, have their moments but fail to come up to the level of Mawdryn Undead. That being said this box set is worth every penny. If you have seen it buy it again and relive the magic of Mawdryn if for no other reason than to remeber how you felt after you viewed it for the First time ( I would imagine most Doctor Who Fan's can remember exactly where they were the first time they saw this episode.)If you have never seen Mawdryn Undead (and I envy you) buy it as well and enjoy One of Doctor Who's finest hours....or hour and a half. Celery anyone???

『I bought The Beatles Help DVD for my daughter for part of her birthday and she loved it. She had the VHS tape of Help some time ago and loaned it to someone and didn't get it back. She loved this DVD, of course it had much more on it than the VHS tape did. Anyone that is a Beatles Fan would love this. I watched it with my daughter and I would recommend this DVD.』

(Uninspired silliness)
『Disjointed, sophomoric, and joyless, "Help!" is a major step back from the far more satisfying "A Hard Day's Night".

The movie's only saving grace is its music, but you may find yourself getting really restless waiting for the next musical number to begin.』

(Too Much!)
『I love The Beatles. I really do. But to end up paying about 150 including shipping for this box sex is a little insane. It's a fantastic box set, and worth a decent amount of money. But Amazon, you should lower your price so the lesser financially able Beatles fans such as myself dont have to go out of their way to buy this like I did.』

(HELP (Deluxe Edition))
『Very pleased with the purchase. Delivered in excellent condition and within 5-7 days. Would purchase another product.』

(The perfect gift for any Beatles fan!!!)
『This package is amazing. I love everything in it. The lobby cards and poster, the book with pictures on set, and also the script copy complete with notes and editing. I would definitely recommend looking at the seller listings to find it cheaper...but this is a great gift for any Beatles fan.』

『After the worldwide success ofA Hard Day's Night, the Beatles and director Richard Lester reunited for a follow-up film,Eight Arms to Hold You. Well, that wasn't the final title; a pleading Lennon-McCartney tune provided the catchier handle:Help!A loose semispoof of the globe-trotting James Bond pictures,Help!has always been considered a somewhat disorganized comedown from its predecessor; but it presents "the famous Beatles" even more clearly as the English cousins of the Marx Brothers. The plot has an Eastern religious cult declaring that the new ring on Ringo's finger is the key element in a human sacrifice; they will stop at nothing to obtain it. Meanwhile, a mad scientist (crazed Victor Spinetti, who also appeared inA Hard Day's NightandMagical Mystery Tour) believes that if he has the ring, he could--dare we say it?--rule the world. The songs, including "Ticket to Ride" and "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," are filmed with gleeful ingenuity, in locations such as the Bahamas, an Austrian ski resort, and the Salisbury Plain. The relentless nonsense becomes nearly the equivalent of a swinging-'60sAlice in Wonderland: for instance, Paul shrinks to the size of a gum wrapper, John fishes a season ticket out of his soup, George wears a top hat on the ski slopes, the lads sing the "Ode to Joy" to a lion. Oh, and the film is dedicated to Elias Howe, "who in 1846 invented the sewing machine." Brilliant.--Robert Horton

(Not if you want to sleep at night....)
『I purchased this movie for my little 6 year old and she had nightmares for a long time after. The premise of this movie is that the princesses have to escape the cruelty of their soon to be step mother and go to a magical land where they are free to dance all night. This movie is especially disheartening and scary to children who have a sick parent as the father is in this movie. The evil mother attempts to poison the father so she can gain control of the kingdom. This does not sound like something a 5-9 year old should be watching. I have since tapped into the Holly Hobbie dvd's and my 8 year old loves them and I love the solid family values and great role model that Holly is. The "Holly Hobbie and Friends: Christmas Wishes" is a must have for every little girl. Hope this helps - good luck!』

(Perfect for my four year old daughter!)
『I bought this for my daughter for her fourth birthday after we had rented it at Blockbuster and she loved it. I thought it was beautifully done, and I love the way Barbie always does what is right, has a sweet demeanor, is thoughtful, kind, and giving and has a good attitude...all things I want my daughter to be when she grows up. Over a year later she is still watching this movie and enjoying it, along with her little sister!』

(Amazing Movie)
『This is my 2.5 year old toddler's personal favorite of all her Barbie movie collection....She would watch this over and over....great babysitter! And she would twirl and try to lift her foot up high as if she is doing the nicely executed ballet dance that the 12 princesses does in the movie...I like how safe I feel when she is watching Mattel's movie, princesses were gracious and they react accordingly not violently....

This is two thumbs up!』

(Great DVD)
『I am forced to watch movies with my 4 year old daughter, well she loves this one the most and I must admit that I have seen it over 5 times and I will surely watch it again! Great DVD!』

『While every princess should learn and demonstrate proper etiquette, twelve young princesses learn the importance of doing good deeds and following their hearts inTwelve Dancing Princesses. When an overwhelmed King Randolph seeks the aid of his cousin the Duchess Rowena in acquainting his twelve young daughters with appropriate princess etiquette, the overly strict Duchess forbids dancing, singing and anything that makes the girls happy. The girls' misery increases when their father suddenly becomes ill and the future looks bleak until the princesses discover that twelve special books bequeathed to them by their late mother open the gateway to a magical world where wishes are granted and dancing is celebrated. Eventually, maturity demands that the twelve princesses return to the real world and confront Duchess Rowena in order to save their father and his kingdom. This CGI animated production features music by Felix Mendelssohn, ballet choreography by the New York City Ballet, and wholesome messages about morality and the power of family. (Another Great Disney Movie!)
『Once again,Disney has captured the essence of "Disney Magic",and with another great movie with Selena Gomez. This movie is great for all ages, young and old..then again those "young at heart.Alex and her family go on a trip to Jamaica, and along the way
we see Alex,Justin and Max up to their usual wizard antics.
In the end,Alex becomes the family wizard. It's a very well
written movie,I only wish it were alittle longer.
If anyone has a bright future ahead, its none other
than Miss Selena Gomez.

Relive the adventures of Alex,Justin and Max,as they attempt to restore
their family with the help of the stone of dreams.I think from this movie,
Alex has learned "be careful what you wish for".

I cannot wait to see what other movies lie ahead in Selena's Future.
This is definitely one for the Family DVD Library,of those who are true
diehard Disney Families, who love movies that have a heartwarming story.』

(Best DCOM ever!!!!)
『This is the best out of Disney!!! My other one is Hatching Pete, but overall it's Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, I love the story, actors, special effects, character development, and much more...So if you're a Wizards fan go buy, even if you haven't seen it yet. I promise you its not a movie you're going to regret having.』

(Selena Gomez)
『I absolutely love Selena Gomez. She has so much talent, she sings, she acts, she does it all. I'm a huge fan of her. This movie was adorable, I watch her show all the time. BUY IT!! 5/5』

(More Endearing Than Any Individual Episode)
『Though each individual episode of the hit Disney Channel TV show "Wizards of Waverly Place" is fun and quirky in its own right, all the material (acting, plot, witty one-liners) seems to fly by so fast that the viewer isn't left with much real emotion. It's almost as if the show gets so caught up in the formula (Alex does bad but prevails, Justin does good but never gets rewarded, etc.) that it doesn't take enough time to slow down and really examine the relationships between any of the characters. Luckily, the "Wizards of Waverly Place" movie solves that problem.

For a basic plot summary, the magical Russo family begins the film with Mom and Dad dragging the kids off on a vacation to recreate their honeymoon. The usual eye-rolling the complaints begin, but Alex (played by the always-entertaining Selena Gomez) takes things one step too far by metaphorically wishing (while holding the family's magic wand) that her parents had never even met, thus they wouldn't be on this "stupid vacation" in the first place. Of course, thanks to the wand, that wish is granted, and suddenly the Russo siblings are no longer part of a family, as Mom and Dad don't even recognize each other. The rest of the film, then, centers on the kids' quest to find the "Stone of Dreams", a magical, enchanted item that can grant any wish or reverse any spell.

With the expanded feature-length runtime, the plot and character development of the film are able to be realized much more deeply than in any previous episode. We get to learn more about both parents and why they are like they are, as well as how the Russo children (namely Justin and Alex) view each other and what can be done to better those relations. In a touching scene that just might make you start to see through some mist, both Alex and Justin come to terms with each other involving the sometimes-bitter sibling rivalry that has existed between them from the very beginning. This plot line is also a great message for younger children, promoting the values of family and working together.

As usual, the acting is also spot-on. Dad (David DeLuise) and Mom (Maria Canals-Barrera) are at their over-the-top best, while Alex (Gomez) and Justin (David Henrie) are constantly involved in a brilliant give-and-take that will have you both laughing and misting over at different occasions. Even youngest brother Max (Jake T. Austin) hits all the right buttons as the somewhat dumb-founded, yet very innocent bringer of the more physical comic relief.

So, considering this film's ability to delve deeper into the relationships between each character, I consider it to be a rousing success and look forward to great things from the show going forward. Plus, the climax of the final results in the long-awaited "Wizard Challenge", which will determine the Russo child who will come away with the magical powers into adulthood and thus set the stage for Season Three on the Disney Channel.』

(Great Movie But No Blu-Ray?)

(the pretender series 2)
『You will want to buy the whole series. I am in the middle of series 3 with series 4 waiting at home. Jerod is a genious that can assume any accupation just by reading a handbook. He is running from the center (the bad guys) while out helping those in need especially any situation involving children. He is also searching for his parents whom the center informed him at age 9 had died in a crash.

You can watch any episode from any series and still enjoy the show. I like to know the complete background therefore I always start at the beginning.』

(I am a pretender too)
『I believe in this series being an inspiration to become whom ever you wish to be for your happiness and success.』

(Dissaistfied)
『I'm very dissatisfied with my experience with the vendor of this product. At this writing I have not received a response to my email. The vendor has my money, but I don't have the product.』

(SELLER DOES NOT RESPOND TO DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE)
『I purchased Season 2 of The Pretender and found that one episode was defective. I wrote the seller a couple days after the time allotment, asking for a replacement but they never responded. It's not as though significant time had elapsed. Furthermore, I wasn't asking for my money back but an exchange. I am disgusted with what appears to be a lack of concern with standing behind their product. Be careful when purchasing DVD's because this can occur and unless you plan to view it immediately, you may be SOL. From now on I plan to purchase my DVD's locally at a store who will exchange defective merchandise. Be careful if you purchase DVD's from this seller.』

(Good advice)
『I am so glad I read the review with 1 star. Having been uncoordinated all my life, I have trouble with 2 sided discs. Thank you for saving me money. Have a healthy life.』
『Jarod is a Pretender—a genius whose exceptionally high I.Q. allows him to master virtually any profession. Since escaping from the Centre, the secret research facility where he was brought up after being taken from his parents, Jarod has managed to stay one step ahead of his ex-captors, Miss Parker and Sydney. Although still reeling from the death of his brother, Jarod also continues to make sure that justice is done by helping innocent victims wronged by society. In the second season we are also introduced to the mysterious Mr. Lyle, played by James Denton of Desperate Housewives fame.』
『According to his sleek nemesis Miss Parker (Andrea Parker), Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) is "a genius who can become anyone that he wants to be." As the second season begins, he's still on the run and her father, Mr. Parker (Harve Presnell,Fargo), is still missing. In his place, the Centre has installed the smooth Mr. Lyle (Jamie Denton,Desperate Housewives) and his associate Brigitte (Pamela Gidley, whose British accent will soon disappear). In the premiere episode ("Back From the Dead Again"), it will also be revealed that Mr. Raines (Richard Marcus,24) survived last season's assassination attempt. A few episodes later ("Exposed"), Mr. Parker will return, but by then Miss Parker won't be so sure he's really her father. Then again, nothing onThe Pretenderis ever what it seems...

Throughout the 22-episode season, Jarod’s "pretends" will range from firefighter ("Over the Edge") to FBI Agent ("A Stand Up Guy")--even male escort ("Gigolo Jarod"). Along the way, he'll catch up on some of the childhood staples he missed, like Jell-O and Twinkies (both of which he'll use against the bad guys). Meanwhile, Sydney (Patrick Bauchau) will reunite with his twin brother, only to lose him again ("Indy Show," featuring a cameo from Mario Andretti). Other pivotal episodes include "Bulletproof," in which Sydney meets up with another figure from his past, "Crash," in which Mr. Lyle's true identity is revealed, and double-length season finale "Bloodlines" (featuring Haley Joel Osment as a potential pretender), in which Miss Parker finds out she has a brother. Alas, it's either the psychotic Mr. Lyle or Angelo (Paul Dillon), the Centre's idiot savant or, as she calls him, "Cousin It." The second season ends with a cliffhanger as a bomb goes off in the Centre--just as Jarod is trying to make his escape.--Kathleen C. Fennessy

(this is what you're looking for)
『It has all the episodes. I'm watching it on an old CRT so I can't say how great the quality is...I assume it has a low bit rate to squeeze the entire series onto 4 discs. But it seems to be good enough quality for the source material. Only giving it 4 stars because of the switching between English/Japanese (the English dubs are not the full episodes, so where they added back the Japanese-only scenes, it switches to Japanese audio with English subtitles). Not ideal but it works.

For the price, getting this set is a no-brainer.』

(Ultraman: The Complete Series)
『If you were a kid in the early '70s and you remember being glued to the TV watching Ultraman then you certainly can't go wrong buying this DVD release. If you have children this is the perfect opportunity to show them a series with substance that inspires thought and creativity instead of the nonsense that is aired these days.

However, having said that, I am a little disappointed in these last two DVD releases (this one and the 2006 release) for a couple of key reasons:

First off, not all of the dubbed English is present. It is not because it doesn't exist anymore; in 1996 a video tape was released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the show. It was labeled Vol. 1 and contained the first four episodes.

When I first watched the DVDs I realized that dialogue spoken in Japanese was definitely aired with an English dub. I compared a couple of scenes with the videotape and those scenes were definitely aired in English.

I think what has happened with these DVD releases is that they reflect copyright and distribution battles between companies. This is why it took so long to release the series in the first place. The research was sloppy and hurried. With more time and care invested I think they could have incorporated most of the missing English. It is definitely available since various versions of the series have existed in one form or another throughout the years.

The other thing that bothers me is that they used the Japanese opening credits instead of the English version. This is an American release intended to be purchased and viewed by Americans. The show has always been available in Japan but here in the United States children saw English titles.

For me personally, the credits and theme songs are just as important as the contents of the show in order to recreate the original experience of having watched these shows as a kid back in the early '70s.

Overall, it is wonderful that the series has finally been released in the United States. If you loved this show you will love watching these discs.

I just wish that someone would release Ultraman, Space Giants and Johnny Sokko as they were presented on American TV with all English dubbing intact and all opening/closing credits (and themes) intact.

If you are fortunate enough to speak and understand Japanese you could have bought imports of the show all along in their native environments but the opening credits and theme songs that we have come to know are different and should have been preserved for an American release.』

『You'd be whack! not to get this awesome compilation!

You love it and you know you want it, plus the price is unbeatable!!

5 stars.... awesome!』

(Nostalgic and a lot of fun!)
『I used to watch Ultraman religiously as a kid, and was thrilled to see the complete collection release, at such an unbelievably low price too! I have two kids, 13 and 10 and was so excited to show them this. They loved it! It's campy fun, with the most insane collection of giant Japanese monsters. You know, sometimes things I remember as a kid either didn't age well or are just not as good as I remember. Not with Ultraman. It's fun, fun, fun and as good as I remember. Well worth a lot more than it cost, and not just for the fond memories!』

(Hokey and cheap but wonderful!)
『Rock bottom production values, rubber suits and lots of cheap special effects. But for pure silliness and escapism, I'd have to recommend it highly. And the price is rockbottom for it.』
『Created by special effects wizard Eiji Tsuburaya (GODZILLA MOTHRA), the 1960s television series ULTRAMAN remains one of Japan s most beloved science-fiction exports. Airing between 1966 and 1967 with a total of 39 episodes the live-action series followed a high-tech police force and their robot superhero Ultraman as they battled to save Earth from invading monsters and aliens. This collection presents the complete series in original uncut andremastered editions. Starring AKIJI KOBAYASHI as Captain Cap Toshio Muramatsu, SUSUMO KUROBE as Shin Hayata, AKIHIKO HIRATA as Professor Iwamoto, MASANARI NIHEI as Mitsuhiro Ide, and HIROKO SAKURAI as Akiko Fuji.』

(Isn't it Time For A Wide-Screen Version?)
『I love this film, but I don't enjoy watching full screen movies on my wide-screen TV. Some DVD's get reissued every five minutes, while others seem to be forgotten. It can't be because this was a small independent production. Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, have hardly been forgotten. What's the deal?? And what about "Private Benjamin"? Is it a Goldie Hawn thing?』

『I can't say much that the other reviewers of this film haven't already said. This is a wickedly funny and fantastic movie that is darkly humorous and entertaining, along with a wonderful, positive message (and lessons learned!) Everyone was great in their roles, and the ending just about knocked me out of my seat.』

(Wicked Funny)
『I've loved this movie for as long as I can remember. Its a very uniques story about what can happen when you can live forever. Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep are just amazing. Its laugh out loud funny』

(Funniest Movie with these two)
『This is one of my all time favorites, the movie is comical, the stars in the film are awesome. This has always been a family favorite and always waited for it to play on cable. Now we have our own copy.』
『ISABELLA ROSSELLINI IS A BEAUTIFUL ENCHANTRESS WHO CHANGES THEIR LIVES AND DEATHS FOREVER IN THIS HILARIOUS DARK COMEDY WITH GROUND BREAKING SPECIAL EFFECTS.』
『This 1992 black comedy by Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump,Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the Back to the Future trilogy) features some of the most eye-popping special effects of the '90s in its story of a narcissistic star (Meryl Streep) who steals the husband (Bruce Willis) of another woman (Goldie Hawn) and continues her rivalry with her even after death. A magic potion keeps both women going despite the punishment of murderous bullets and fatal plunges, and the joke is that even as they rot they remain vain about appearances. Though he's fashioned a one-note movie, Zemeckis gets a lot of mileage out of such impressive sights as Hawn walking around with a hole in her chest the size of a basketball, and Streep--her head and arms twisted 180 degrees--moving like a broken crab. It's weird, it's sick, it's hilarious, and the stars push the whole project to a classy entertainment. Isabella Rossellini is great as a scantily clad witch who sells the immortality brew. The DVD release has a full-screen presentation, optional French and Spanish soundtracks, optional Spanish subtitles, and Dolby sound.--Tom Keogh

great acting, great plot, funnnnnny, and great value at what amazon has it priced at now.

$4 a rental at blockbuster, or an average $3 per movie with netflix - at $8.50 at amazon, youll save money after the 2nd time u watch it!』

(Elf)
『I guess with this kind of movie, you have to get into a cheerful state of mind before watching it, since it in all fairness is so embarrassing to watch at times you want to sink through the chair. The premise is easily enough explained, a human orphan baby; "Buddy", (probably not his real name originally, but you'll see why) crawls into Santa Claus' sack and returns to the North Pole with him. He is there adopted by an elderly elf in Santa's employ, and raised as an elf, among other elves. Naturally, since he grows up to be gigantic compared to his cohabitates, he in the end resolves (as so many adopted children) to find his true identity and his real father in the human world. He travels south, to New York City, where his father is a bitter workaholic publisher, not foreign to shortcuts in the world of business and neglectful of his wife and adolescent son. Buddy in full elf costume, seeks out his father (who doesn't know of his existence) and looks for his recognition and love. The twist is, that Buddy really believes he is an elf and is steeped in "elf culture" (sugar is the basis of all meals, making toys and Christmas is what life is all about and generally to be of good cheer no matter how life treats you, etc). This to say the least collides with the post-European society New York City has become, leading to hilarious situations. Ferrell does a wonderful enthusiastic elf that had me on the way to the floor at times with laughter. James Caan (the Jewish tough-guy in so many films) fills his role perfectly, as does the charming Zooey Deschanel. One could have wished for a better child actor than Buddy's half-brother, but that is the only minus I can find in the film. It is of course also quite sad to see how post-European the US is becoming, a city that was supposed to be the new York, has little that reminds one of that today and less every year.

Little more need to be said, it is a wonderful film for all the family about Christmas, the little that is left of it in this ironically most Jewish city in the world; New York City. The film itself has a very "Jewish feel" to it, but not really in any bad way, it is respectful of Christian celebration and treats it mostly nice, although it of course is a very childish portrait. 5 stars and really one of the few "family films" that can be enjoyed by the whole family, if one is able to just laugh for 1,5 hours in these troubled times.』

(Quick and easy)
『This transaction was fast and easy. The DVD was shipped promptly and arrived in perfect using condition. And obviously, the movie is hilarious and clean.』

(Wonderful Movie)
『If you have seen Elf and are considering purchasing it on Blu-Ray you likely feel the same as I do. Blu-Ray of Elf is very clear and great sound. Will Ferrel is wonderful and this movie gets better each Christmas.』
『Studio: New Line Home Video Release Date: 10/28/2008 Run time: 97 minutes Rating: Pg13』
Elfis genuinely good. Not justSaturday Night Live-movie good, when the movie has some funny bits but is basically an insult to humanity;Elfis a smartly written, skillfully directed, and deftly acted story of a human being adopted by Christmas elves who returns to the human world to find his father. And because the writing, directing, and acting are all genuinely good,Elfis also genuinely funny. Will Ferrell, as Buddy the adopted elf, is hysterically sincere. James Caan, as his rediscovered father, executes his surly dumbfoundedness with perfect aplomb. Zooey Deschanel, as a department store worker with whom Buddy falls in love, is adorably sardonic. Director Jon Favreau (Swingers) shepherds the movie through all the obligatory Christmas cliches and focuses on material that's sometimes subtle and consistently surprising. Frankly,Elffeels miraculous. Also featuring Mary Steenburgen, Bob Newhart, Peter Dinklage, and Ed Asner as Santa Claus.--Bret Fetzer

(best. movie. ever.)
『I loved this movie as a kid! I watched it on vhs dozens of times and was devastated when my parents moved and lost it. I'm 22 now and am so glad I found this on dvd so I can keep it for(almost)ever! The quality of the dvd is a bit crumby during the opening credits, but it's definitely not as bad as some have commented, and it evens out pretty quickly and is definitely not an issue during the rest of the film. I'm so glad my mom bought this for me as a kid, I have such good memories of it (even the scary ones weren't that bad).』

(Nothing hits the spot like a BLT (Brave Little Toaster))
『I can not give this movie any less than 5 stars. When I was a child, I remember sitting with my sister and loving this movie. I bought it for myself when a bunch of people I live with were trying to tell me that the movie was not as scary as I remembered.

So we watched it again. All of those "Scary" scenes were still there (like the toaster having a dream he is about to be dropped in a bathtub, etc.) and so, I agree that it is a little bit intense at some points.

I also agree with some of the reviewers that the movie uses some terms that are not as accepted today- for example, the movie appliences call each other stupid from time to time. I also noticed that the beginning of the movie does "rock" a little bit and is not the greatest in quality.

But I do think it is very good to enjoy if this was a favorite movie of yours when you were a kid. I don't want to get into a debate about what is healthy for children to watch or what types of nightmares or language they will learn. I am simply rating this movie at 5 stars because I wanted to buy this movie and it was better than what I thought I was getting (I worried that once Disney bought the rights to this movie, the movie would have added songs or Disney might take some scenes out). This is not the case. If you are really concerned about buying this for you children then don't buy it for them... but be prepared to have children who become scared of twinkies, foam pillows, and static on the radio, because- in my opinion, you can't protect your child from everything. Oops, now I got into a debate.

I hope this review was helpful for you!』

(The Brave Little Toaster)
『I bought this product for my child's 3rd birthday. It was one of my favorites as a kid. It was a good buy, however, the product arrived 3 days past it's promised date. Still glad I bought it though.』

(Perfect!)
『The DVD arrived sooner than I thought it would. It was new, wrapped and in perfect condition. My grandson was very pleased with it as well. We watched it together.』

(Timelesss movie for all ages!)
『My own daughters enjoyed this movie now the grandsons are loving it. Great music for the grown ups, too.』
