I highly recommend the Tsubasa Chronicles for anyone that loved Chobits or any of the other Excellent series by Clamp that have nothing to do with giant robots and outer space or monsters for monsters sake. Some may say the characters ambled through some of the episodes but that is the beauty of this series. The companions are searching for the Princess's memory feathers. They don't know if the next world will be friendly or dangerous, and there are no sign posts pointing the way. They have to depend on each others strengths and at times weaknesses, to find there way. Each and every episode has something new and different to say even if the format is the same, but you have to pay attention. They are not out to slay a dragon or save the world. They are all trying to help the Princess. I would love to see more episodes of Tsubasa and would gladly buy each and every disc.
I read that the Tsubasa Manga was ending or had ended. I would like to ask the talented folks at Clamp to consider another season or three of Tsubasa beyond the Manga. I considered it that good....
I don't fall in love with Anime series that often !!! I LOVE TSUBASA !!!』
(not disappointed) 『I loved Sakura, Cardcaptor. I had gotten it expecting rather similar, so at first was slightly put off by what seemed to be lesser artwork and badly rewittern characters halfway through the first episode. However by the end of the sencond episode I was hooked. I love this series and cannot wait for the second season to come out. As soon as I got over it not being Sakura part 2, it really took off. And I really enjoy spotting the other characters from other Clamp series that make cameo appearences.』
(Another Amazing Winner from CLAMP =)) 『This is another winner from the CLAMP team - who brought the anime nation wonderful titles such as Magic Knight Rayearth, XXXholic, Cardcaptors, Chobits, X, and many more. As soon as i found out Tsubasa was from CLAMP i knew it was another addicting series that was about to unfold. Many anime fans will know Sakura from Cardcaptors and this is another series that deals with this character. During a ritual of some kind Sakura accidentally loses the shards to her heart that are now scattered through time. So her semi-boyfriend Syaoran must travel through time&space to recover them. This sends the duo on many battles through time, which kinda reminds me of Dragon Ball Z in that they are trying to retrieve something. This is a really great series and unfortunately only lasted about two seasons. I think this box set is heavily over-priced but definitely worth picking up when it's on sale.』
(Let the space-time jumps begin) 『As fans of the manga know, Tsubasa goes through several different stages. This set of it's animated version corresponds to the getting-to-know-the-characters stage which often played out as a shounen tournament series.
A quick briefer for those unfamiliar with the story: The memories of a teenage, alternate universe version of Cardcaptor Sakura's title character are scattered into different dimensions in the form of feathers, and she will die if enough of them are not retrieved. Under the auspices of xxxHOLiC's Yuko, her true love Syaoran is joined by two adult guardians - a ninja named Kurogane and a magician named Fai, who are also traveling for different reasons - as they jump across dimensions to complete the task, meeting other alternate universe versions of CLAMP characters along the way. But as Holic fans know, Yuko must always extract a price whether she would or no - and unbeknownst to Sakura, the price Syaoran has paid is the permanent loss of her memory of their relationship.
Tsubasa's main strength is the relationships which eventually develop between the four leads rather than the feather quest of the week or CLAMP cameos, which of course means that the inital arcs in which the characters haven't yet become close will probably never be considered among it's best. It also doesn't help that the majority of the padding material common to long running manga-based anime is focused here on the quest and guest stars rather than the extremely engaging four leads. Still, this set includes hints of the character development to come as Syaoran slowly earns Kurogane's respect and both kids - but Sakura in particular - start to bring out Fai's protective instincts. Indeed, a critical scene much beloved by fans between Kurogane and Fai during the Oto arc which cemented their relationship and gave the story unexpected teeth as Kurogane first realized there was something very wrong with Fai might actually have come out even better here. Two one-episode filler arcs are also respectable and fit into these early stages quite well, which isn't always the case with fillers. Also of note is a beautiful score which is one of the series' strongest assets.
Some viewers might not have the patience for Tsubasa to reach it's full potential - that won't come until the material covered by the OVA following Season 2 - and these arcs are somewhat inconsistent with some being better than others. It's best to take this set for what it is: a basically fun romp you might enjoy as long as you don't get your expectations up too high yet.
』
(Final Fantasy Meets Sliders) 『Here's another sci-fi/fantasy anime that is both greatly intriguing and entertaining. The series short story-plot is that a young princess by the name of Sakura is magically attacked by a mysterious villain who wants her unique powers and as a cause of the attack her memories which or physically feather like are scattered across different dimensions, and so her lifelong friend and romantic interest a young man named Syaoran vows to retrieve her memories and with that save her life since if she doesn't regain all her memories. So Syaoran meets with a witch who agrees to help him reclaim the princesses memories but the cost of her help is that the bond between Syaoran and Sakura will be broken meaning after Sakura regains all her memories she will have no memory of Syaoran and her feelings she had for him before. Along the quest through different dimensions you have two other characters both with their own reasons and agendas of why they are on this quest, one is Kurogane a great but arrogant warrior who is banished by the very princess he protected because of his pride and than you have Fay D. Flourite another mysterious wizard who's running from some problem or other. The animation is very clear and sharp and if you've seen the animes Noir or Hack/Sign you'll notice the animation is for the most part similar, also the audio voice cast both Japanese/English did great for this series and the music track was incredible since it was the same person who did the music for Noir, Madlax, and Hack/Sign. The only problem I have again is with the box set, The set is a two thinpack dvd cases which hold two dvds each and put into a paper sleeve I wish that Funimation would at least make the dvd case sleeve out of cardboard or make it a little tougher so it won't tear so easily. The extras are pretty decent you get the usual trailers, commentaries, cast auditions, and the textless intro/ending songs. So if you like your sci-fi animes or magical action animes here's a great selection for your library...』 『The fates shine upon young archeologist Syaoran and his life-long love, the princess Sakura. As the moon hovers silently above the kingdom a beautiful and otherworldly sound fills the air, drawing the princess to the ancient ruins. Her latent powers stir, awakening an ability to cross dimensions. But the process is interrupted as unseen forces conspire to claim this magic as their own. Sakura’s soul is sent adrift across the universe, each memory a feather dancing through the stars. Syaoran will make heroic sacrifices to track down the remnants of her soul… With fellow travelers Kurogane and Fai, a warrior and a wizard, an epic quest begins.
The Season 1 set contains volumes 1-6.』
『Theshojo(girl's) seriesTsubasa Reservoir Chronicleoffers new adventures for the characters from the Clamp Studio's popularCardcaptor Sakura. Sakura is now the princess of the Kingdom of Clow; Syaoran is the dedicated son of an archaeologist. When a mysterious power seizes Sakura in an ancient temple, her spirit appears as a pair of graceful white wings that shatter, sending the feathers of her memories flying through time and space. Syaoran must recapture them or Sakura will die. Launched on their journey by Yuko the Dimensional Witch, Syaoran and Sakura are joined by three new characters: the rabbitlike Mokona; Kurogane, a hot-tempered warrior who served Princess Tomoyo; and Fay, a wizard who resembles Kaoru inEvangelion. As the travelers move from world to world searching for the Feathers, they help the inhabitants they encounter. After defeating the evil magician Tambal, Syaoran presents Sakura with a Feather of memory. She can't see him in the birthday party she recalls, only his empty chair: he can restore all her memories except the ones of him. The enhanced color and clarity of the Blu-ray process showcases the imaginative visuals inTsubasa. When Kurogane blindfolds Syaoran to teach him to rely not on his vision but on his inner senses when fighting with a sword, the artists suggest his sightless world with reversed colors and evocative music. In one striking sequence, a character uses a Feather to cause the world of Outo to implode, revealing it's just a virtual reality game. These adventures are entertaining, but the filmmakers suggest that Sakura, Syaoran, and their friends may just be pawns in a greater struggle between Yuko and the mysterious Fei Wang and his assistant Xing Huo.Tsubasais a picaresque tale that plays more likeFullmetal AlchemistthanCardcaptor Sakura, but Clamp fans will enjoy the mixture of enchantment, romance, adventure, and self-sacrifice. Sometimes I thought I did know, but most of the time -- NOT!!! These two Nana's are young women who want fame, fortune and love, but maybe not in that order. Seems like they're impatient and want it all now. I can relate. This DVD set is good for those who are 20-something, or those who want to get together with their girlfriends and reminiscence about their college days gone by...
By the way, Volume 3 comes out on February 2nd!!!! Happy ordering!』
(Fantastic and mature anime) 『While the series suffers from weak comedic writing, the level of depth and reality in the series is fantastic. The music in NANA continues to be very well done and only adds to the high level of quality along with the art and animation. The DVD set suffers from a severe lack of extras and a steep price for only a few episodes; however, if you can look past that the series is worth owning. The English and Japanese tracks are both excellent.』
(great buy) 『I did not buy this one, but however I bought the Nana boxset 47 episodes and 3 ovas online for only 45 dollars. The only things that are in english were the menus and the subtitles. It came from japan itself, so I am very happy to own an original boxset of the Nana series. It is my favorite anime series, and if you are into romance and drama, this is for you.
It starts as two different girls both named Nana meet on a train, they are both going to Tokyo. They talk for a few hours, then don't see each other for awhile. Then they both run into each other AGAIN when they are both looking at the same apartment to buy. They end up becoming roommates and a huge bond of friendship forms. The series is about how they tie into each other's lives as they both go through romance and their own dreams to get to where they want to be, but keep their friendship strong through everything.
It offers real life situations of drama and romance. The emotions are deep and pure, and will even leave tears. This is one series I highly recomend. You will love it. The story of these girls will be ones you can relate to.』

I passed on it at first, as it looked like it was related to "Ah, My Buddha", a series my friend owns and which I find completely uninteresting. To my surprise, I found myself drawn in to the story. My biggest problem now is finding all the sub-series that relate to this show-I can't get enough! The characters are interesting, the plot is a bit shallow but fun, sometimes even ridiculous. I even like (and bought) the soundtrack!』
(Happy Show) 『This show just makes you feel good. It's my wife's favorite anime. And, like many G1 fans.... I was disappointed. I didn't make any effort to watch the show for quite some time. It was these episodes on this set that made me accept, and even LIKE the show. I don't have this set yet, but I would definately buy it. The episodes near the end with Prime, Megatron, and Unicron all confronting each other... that's really good stuff!』

I had watched the first half originally in Japanese with English subtitles and I wanted to see the rest but had to post pone that for later. I admit I was a bit depressed at the end, but it has its funny moments for being very dark at times. While most of this is fictional there are some facts incorporated with the time line which makes a little more believable. I did watch some of the commentary with the English voice actors and the translators did a heck of a job trying to be accurate to the script but at the same time being accurate to the time period by using the language and terms most often spoken then. While some of my friends are bit a hesitant to watch the anime due to its cliches' try to look past that fact and give Chrono Crusade a chance.』
(Chrono Crusade Review) 『Well a brief summary of Chrono Crusade is thT it is the 1920's and along with all the prosperity of the time immorality comes along with it and satanism is on the rise. Their is a special task force for this job, the Magdalen Order, who are are a trained group of exorcist that operate under the Catholic Church. The main characters are Sister Rosette, a little bit clumsy elite exorcist, with her soul bound demon, Chrono, and a girl Azmaria. They travel around and fight and vanquish these demons and evil creatures all while they are searching for Rosette's brother Joshua.
This is a pretty good show although it takes a little while to get started and explain itself, but definitely worth watching. *****』
(Chrono Crusade) 『Not nearly as good as the manga. Thanks to their loss of funding, Ayres and Carsrud rushed through the middle and end of the anime, losing sight of the manga's story. Despite adoring the manga and its story, I also enjoyed this anime and its story. If you're picky about what animes you watch, give this one a shot. I am very picky, and this one touched me in a way most animes have never done. I wish there was more of this brilliant series.』
(WOW!!! Get this one!) 『This is a great anime. Religious viewers may find this a bit of a stretch. I too am religious and I just took the story for what it was. It is a story of true love between a devil (Chrono) and a human (Rosette) and their search for her brother (Joshua). In the end I believe the devil and human end up discovering that nothing matters accept how they feel about one another. I will not take the time to go into the full details of this story; there are other reviews that let you know what this anime is all about. I definitely recommend this anime to anyone that loves a fun in your face kind of anime. Just a warning, you will definitely shed a tear toward the end of this anime. Please do yourself a favor and get this one. 』
(If your looking at this, than buy it!!) 『First, there is no reason to pass this Anime up. If you liked Hellsing, than you will like this. I can't say enough about this Anime. I bought all the books, while I was deployed to Iraq, and I bought one DVD to see if I would like the show. After that, I couldn't stop buying it, until I owned the whole set. This box set is wonderful, I own it. It's good art work, of course you lose the extras, but I never really watch them anyway, so no big deal. The story is awesome, and the action is really good. If you like Hellsing, or even Cowboy Bebop, than you will like this show.』 『Studio: Adv Films Release Date: 11/01/2005 Run time: 650 minutes』 『The offbeat supernatural adventureChrono Crusadetakes place in 1928, when the hedonistic culture of Prohibition-era New York has fueled a rise in Satanism. Sister Rosette of the Magdalene Order is a klutzy, gun-toting exorcist-cum-devil-hunter who wrecks her period cars, blows up the wrong buildings, and generally adds to the headaches of her superiors. Her level-headed partner Chrono tries to rein her in and minimize the damage. He's a devil (literally), but he's bound to Rosette by psychological and magical ties. The supporting cast includes a lecherous inventor who peeks up Rosette's habit; handsome Father Remington; Azmaria, a mysteriously powerful girl who adores Rosette; and the formidable head of the Magdalene Order, Sister Kate (who doesn't shimmy).
Chrono Crusadewas adapted from a long-running manga by Daisuke Moriyama, and its biggest weakness is the central character. Rosette is a screechy, clumsy comic heroine, but she and the Magdalene Order are all that's keeping the devil Aion from realizing his nefarious plot to remake the universe.Chrono Crusadefeels like someone dropped Lina Inverse fromSlayersintoHellsing: it's too dark to be funny, but too silly to take seriously. Although many anime series depict battles against devils and demons, the constant references to holy water, God, the Vatican, etc. inChrono Crusademay offend religious viewers, especially Catholics. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Make sure you know what you're buying/thinking about buying) 『Hegemonic masculinity and violence definitely runs rampant in this series; that being said, this anime is obviously not for young viewers. The main character's mother is a bit on the nut-so side, the father isn't too far behind, and the person on the front of the 1st season's box there is supposed to be 13-years-old. Judging from all of those things it should be pretty obvious that this is not a brain food anime. It's, more or less, fighting, fighting, and more fighting. When I bought this series I went in expecting as much and therefore was not disappointed. I was actually very pleased with this purchase.
The best advice that I can give you is that if you don't mind watching something that's like a UFC/Mortal Combat hybrid saturated in extremely heavy `WTF' overtones (for lack of a better example), then this is the anime for you. If you're looking for something that you can seriously watch and evaluate for "deeper meanings" and that has a "grade 'A' plot", then don't even bother. It's a fighting anime; nothing more, nothing less. So don't go in expecting to see much more than that or you'll have otherwise wasted both your time and your money. 』
(As Generic as it gets.) 『This is an Anime that I have heard people rave about. I honestly did not like it. The premise is that a fighting tournament is taking place to determine the best fighter in the world. Each fight is extremely boring and all of the fighters are generic and uninteresting. There is little or no character development, period. The animation is inconsistent (several characters look completely different during different episodes.) The show ends in a letdown fight between Baki and His Brother (who he doesn't know is his brother until near the time of the fight.) This is an anime that I would avoid personally, but some individuals may like it. If you are into tournament style anime, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, and others are all better at showing tournament fighting than this show.』 『"Being able to sustain the thrill of the fight across so many volumes isn't an easy thing and a lot of series break under their own weight from it but Baki has the edge in brutality to it that sets it apart." --- AnimeonDVD.com
