(Superior, but cavity inducing!) 『I bought my first Pioneer (Geneon) product back when Pioneer laser discs were nearly the only way to find anime translated into English. Tenchi Muyo was the anime that had me hooked. I was saddened but not surprised when Geneon left the US market, because none of its later offerings, including later Tenchi series, were as good a Pioneer's first offering. I was very pleased to discover Kamichu as one of Geneon's final offerings, and this turned out to be the best anime series the company ever offered. No fights. No giant robots. No sex. No gore. No whacky space aliens. Just three Japanese junior high girls who try to cope when one of them announces that she, inexplicably, has become a god in the Shinto sense. This is a very sweet story, so sweet it may induce cavities or a diabetic coma. The animation is among the best cell animation I have ever seen, with no shortcuts taken, and no mismatching computer animation jammed in here and there. The voice acting, on both the Japanese and English tracks are among the best i have ever heard, and is age appropriate to the characters. If you want family-friendly anime, or a anime series to introduce your lady friend to your anime hobby, this may be the series for you. If all of Pioneer - Geneon's offerings had been the quality of Kamichu, the company might not have found it necessary to leave the U.S. Market. Short, Sweet, and among the very best!』
(kamichu) 『Saw this last year on Youtube. Animation is very well done, especially the accurate landscape shots. This a a very cute slice of life anime with inventive fantasy elements woven in. Yurie's school life is complicated by her two girlfriends attempts to benefit from her new godly status, and Yurie's tentative romantic pursuit of a clueless male classmate whose first love is calligraphy. A very sweet and original anime, highly recommended for those tired of mechas, swordfights, and ecchi stuff.

Yurie is just an ordinary middle school girl in the 1980 s, until overnight she finds out that she is a Kami, or God in the Shinto sense. When Yurie announces this fact to her best friend Mitsue, their classmate Mitsuri takes advantage of Yurie s new divinity to revitalize her family s dying shrine. Yurie is nicknamed Kamichu and now must go on with her godly duties while going to school and winning the heart of her crush, Kenji; while Mitsuri tries to replace her old shrine god Yashima with her.』

A boy enters his sixth grade class room to be greeted by his teacher with that scene you see that this boy is greatly independent. He instantly develops his first fan girl yukio(just first off I want to apologize I'm American and I also have horrible spelling. So I will butcher these names.) She falls for him instantly...He being in sixth grade and disliking making friends, He could care less that she likes him. When leaving school the teacher confronts them and expresses her concern for him and he acts nonchalant and runs off. He meets an adult who grabs him by the arm and forces an conversation(gently forces) within that converstation he confesses that he was friends with the boys brother. The sixth grade boy ritzuka's brother seimi was murdered. So naturally the boy is taken with this stranger. He goes off with the adult to make memories(taking photos). While taking photos they bring the story line in about the fighters and sacrifices also with the fighters names. The strangers name is soubi(which I can spell ^^) His code name is beloved who was seimi's fighter unit, and seimi was soubi's sacrifice.
Sacrifices and fighters basically are this. A fighter uses words to cast spells such as "rip" "tear" and even as complex as "retreat as birds carried off...." The spells are enchanting to hear and the art that follows the spells are wonderful. And sacrifices take the damage for the fighter unit. When they are hurt they are restricted to some extent, arms chained down, collars chaining the victims. When they are completely restricted they lose.
Well upon their talk they encounter another fighter unit who wants the sixth grade to come with them, soubi fights the people and denies them taking him. The boy can't figure out within the fight ,who the bad guy is if it's soubi or if it's the other fighters. But upon the next fight he sees that their organization was that who killed his brother.
The boy is growing up and maturing and his mom is trying to prevent it by claiming multi personalities. If I give to much more of the story it will be spoilers but it gets much better
The art of this show is so wonderful. The voices are in Japanese. I dislike subbing a lot of I didn't mind it in this case. But there is a side bit of the soubi being twenty and male falling for ritzuka a sixth grade male. Yoai and illegal but it's not bothersome. It's kind-a a key part of the story but the story really does not dwell on it. It's more so as if they are close friends who try to protect each other and they kiss only a few times in the story they are both androgynous so it won't offend those. No nudity.
The story died on episode thirteen...it was sad ended no warning and should no have ended the manga kept up. Anime died. No sign of any more to come but in the original series imported from japan I got back a few years ago(well I borrowed from a friend.) on the last episode it said something about fundings died and could not continue so rumor is they will pick up later but dunno when.
I would suggest this to nearly everyone 』
(So awsome and hawt) 『I love Loveless for once in my life i read the manga before seeing the anime. Even though it was left with a cliff hanger and there were a few differences it was still perfect for anyone who reads a bad review do not listen to it buyers. the opening music is so romantic and deep. The SD theater is so Rotfl and maybe is hinting to a 2nd season i hope. If you love shounen-ai or the loveless manga get this item!!!!』
(Wonderful series!) 『Loveless is my favorite anime series of all time. The characters are complex, the animation is beautiful, and the story is intriguing. The characters are believable without coming off as irritating. I could relate to and understand the characters in this anime more than any other anime I've watched. The anime has a balanced mix of drama, fantasy, action, romance, and comedy. The only downside is that the ending is abrupt, so you should read the manga (if you haven't read it first) to know the rest of the story. I highly recommend this anime to fans of shounen-ai, the Loveless manga, or anyone interested.』
(I LOVE THIS SHOUNEN-AI) 『LOVELESS IS VERY BEATIFULL. THE STORY IS SETTED IN KEMONO WORLD, WHERE KIDS HAVE EARS AND TAILS CAT UNTIL THEIR SENTIMENTAL AND SEXUAL MATURITY. MAIN CHARACTERS ARE RITSUKA (12 YEARS OLD)AND SOUBI (20 YEARS OLD). THE STORY IS VERY INTERESTING. IN A FIGHTER SYSTEM TEAM THERE ARE ONLY TWO PERSON: A FIGHTER AND A SACRIFICE WHO SHARE A REAL NAME. SOUBI'S FIRST NAME IS "BELOVED" SHARED WITH SEIMEI (OLDEST RITSUKA BROTHER). WHEN SEIMEI DIES, SOUBI MEETS RITSUKA AND CHANGES HIS REAL NAME IN "LOVELESS", THE REAL KID'S NAME. SOUBI IS VERY STRONG AND MAGIC IN HIS WORLD, WHEN HE FIGHTS, IS VERY POWERFUL. HE IS THE BEST IN FIGHTER SYSTEM. SOUBI WANTS TO STAY BESIDE RITSUKA, HE LOVES HIM AND HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE (HIS BEST FRIEND KIO IS JEALOUS). RITSUKA IS TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND AND HIS FEELINGS ARE UNDECIDED- "I WANT TO SEE HIM-I DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM-TO SEE HIM IS HURT". IN MANGA THE STORY IS MORE COMPLETE ( BUT IT'S NOT FINISHED). SOUBI'S SECRET IS REVEALED, STEP BY STEP RITSUKA FEELINGS ARE MORE CLEAR AND HIS BROTHER SEIMEI IS LIVE, BUT RIT-CHAN DISCOVER THE REAL FACE OF HIS BROTHER AND WHAT HE HAS DONE TO SOUBI. I LOVE MANGA AND I WATCH DVDS EVERYDAY』
(Loveless) 『Finally found the anime my daughter wanted forever. Very happy with the quick delivery time, and the condition was very good, except for the corners of the outer set box were damaged a little, but the price was very reasonable, and I would definitely do business here again!!!』 『Ritsuka Aoyagi is a sixth-grader who's still troubled by the loss of his older brother. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Massive Tournament Filled With Oddities) 『The Law of Ueki is but another title that would have been forever lost to the recesses of time with the demise of anime-giant Geneon. Fortunately Funimation has seen fit to rescue many such properties through a recent distribution agreement meaning Ueki can be enjoyed by North American audiences in all of its (massive) glory once more.
Coming in at an incredible runtime of 1275 minutes, The Law of Ueki the Complete Set spans 12 discs and comes packaged in a double-clamshell case (each of which houses six dvds). The clamshells themselves can be coupled together via the included blots of glue or separated depending upon the shelf-space options of the viewer but be forewarned, in either configuration this set takes up quite a bit of space.
Wearing a very conservative 13&up rating, the show really is all-age friendly save for the grand theme of martial arts fighting and cartoon-style violence. Language is quite clean, there is no nudity, and gore is nonexistent.
Extras come in the form of two versions of textless openings, five versions of textless endings, Japanese promotional trailer as well as the US promotional trailer. The biggest draw perhaps comes in the form of the fact that this set contains 11 never before released episodes.
The language options are typical sub&dub, which of course means that the viewer is given the option between the original Japanese dialog and the English dub (both presented in Dolby Digital 2.0) with the choice of English subtitles available with either.
The plot is shonen in the strictest sense of the term- and is definitely quirky enough to set itself apart from a broad field of competitors (from the likes of Dragon Ball Z on up to Bleach).
The story goes something like this: Kosuke Ueki, a teen with a heart bigger than his brain, must battle other young "power-users" on behalf of his schoolteacher Mr. Kobayashi. This "Mr. K" as he's known is one of 100 candidates vying to become the Celestial King, and to win that honor, his candidate (Ueki) must defeat everyone else's in one crazy but grand tournament. Whichever fighter wins gets a reward too: the "Talent of Blank," which can be any power he desires (hence the blank part of the name). However, using their powers on non-combatants will cause existing talents to disappear. Gradually, Ueki learns the ways of battle as he meets other rivals with strange powers that drag him across dimensions in one battle after another.
Pacing is fairly consistent, if on the slow side as one might expect in a 12-disc series. The ups and downs of the protagonists are typically resolved in each show, with a few story threads (see fights) taking a couple episodes to fully conclude. It's pretty clear that the show's creative staff clearly had an idea for the conclusion of the grand story arc when they set out to work on The Law of Ueki but left the minor details to sort themselves out as the story progressed. I say this because often times the entire tale seems to nearly conclude only to be rejuvenated by a character adding something to the effect of, "Oh I forgot to mention it before, but there are four more rounds of fighting after this one."
It's forgivable in this case because anyone seeking a masterwork of modern story telling is probably barking up the wrong tree with Ueki anyway. The show's greatest strength comes in the form of a likeable, upbeat cast of heroes and their ensuing struggle to win a mystic tournament against insurmountable odds. Viewers can expect some of the craziest special abilities to ever grace an anime series (and that's saying a lot); things like Ueki's own ability to turn trash into trees or a kid who can turn bath towels into iron, another guy's strength stems from spitting out poems (haikus to be exact), and another still can turn blueprints into the real thing.
Perhaps stranger than the powers is the motivations- characters are simply driven by the strangest things in Law. Take our buddy who can turn towels into iron for example: He wants to fight dozen upon dozen of grueling battles in effort to win the coveted "Talent of Blank" (any power he desires in the universe) so as to be able to dig a hot spring one day. Hmm, wouldn't be a lot easier to simply buy a shovel (or better yet turn a towel into one) and skip the fighting altogether?
A majority of each episode focuses on what fans really want in a shonen series: fighting. In fact what makes Ueki stand out above the rest is that the formula for victory is typically quite complicated. So complex in fact that it often takes on the form of solving a mystery for fans watching along (don't worry, the answer is revealed at the conclusion of each battle and sometimes requires a solid nine-minute explanation). This works surprisingly well because the rules of the tournament are only less complex than the strengths and weaknesses of any given character's abilities. Limiting conditions, combos, and teamwork all play a role in each and every battle (especially later on) so expect at least as much strategy going into each round as sheer physical effort.
The dub track isn't remarkable but holds up pretty well even against Funimation's impeccable efforts of late (albeit overacted with a lot of shouting at times). Music is catchy and upbeat and the opening theme (which is used throughout) is quite appropriate.
Interestingly, this is the first Geneon/ Funimation collaboration that I've encountered thus far that actually retains all of the original Geneon trailer previews as opposed to replacing them with Funimation titles. Even the packaging retains Geneon's full appearance (save for a tiny Funmation badge on the back).
My only real complaint to report is that who in the world thought it was a good idea not to bother putting numbers on each of the individual discs? This would be forgivable in a two or even four-disc collection but we're talking twelve discs here! Sure they each depict a different character from the show, but the only way to sort things out should you happen to get them all mixed up is to study a tiny product code on each (12752 is disc 1, 12753 is 2 and so on up to 12764). Yikes!
In all The Law of Ueki is a solid shonen entry that is sure to impress fans of the genre with its unique characters, consistent rules, and truly one-of-a-kind special attacks. The strategic element is what really separates it from the rest however. Add in the fact that this set packs in 21 and a half hours of action and you have the formula for success. Just make sure to clear a big space on your shelf first.』 『Over 1200 minutes of crazy power battles!!
The fate of the world rests on Ueki, an average junior high student. Average until he gains the power to change trash into trees. Granted to him by the enigmatic Mr K., Ueki’s strange power forces him to participate in the 100-fighter "Battle of Supernatural Powers." If Ueki wins the tournament, Mr. K will become the new King of the Celestial World while Ueki will receive the "Talent of Blank", allowing him to choose any power he desires. However, if Ueki gets too many penalties during the game, he will disappear!
The battles won't be easy. Ueki will face many corrupt opponents with crazy powers from blowing fire after drinking water to turning cotton into snakes! It’s up to Ueki to win the tournament and prevent the "Talent of Blank" from falling into the wrong hands.』

『The second season ofNarutocontinues as the next phase of the Chunin exams begins: individual combat among the surviving candidates. Kakashi-sensei seals the curse mark Orochimaru set on Sasuke's neck, but its effect on the talented young ninja remains uncertain. Naruto beats his opponent using decidedly unconventional means: only everyone's favorite knucklehead could turn an attack of flatulence into a jutsu. As the matches progress, the focus shifts from Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura to the secondary characters Hinata and Rock Lee. The offspring of a great ninja clan, Hinata seems too timid to live up to the family tradition of violence, but she fights valiantly against her cousin Neiji. Rock Lee has no talent for the magical jutsu the other students employ, so he's trained himself mercilessly in physical techniques. He's pitted against Gara, the icy trainee who fights with clouds of enchanted sand. Lee and Hinata overtax their resources but demonstrate true ninja spirit--and win the respect of Naruto and Sakura. The struggles of the secondary characters add some emotional depth to the inevitably repetitious fight scenes. The season ends on multiple cliffhangers, with Lee and Sasuke in the hospital and Naruto beginning a grueling training regimen with a new sensei to prepare for the final Chunin combat. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (An OK box set, but a little disappointed with the special features) 『Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Ultimate Collection is a six-disc DVD box set that includes all twenty-six episodes of the series. This set just takes the six individually released DVDs and bundles them into one package. The first and third discs in the set each contain five episodes, while the remaining four discs each contain four episodes.
Each DVD contains the DVD credits in the "Extras" menu. There is also at least one other extra included on each disc. The first disc contains a voice actor commentary on the fourth episode from the English dub voice actors for Priss and Linna. The second disc has three voice actor commentaries. The sixth episode has commentary from the English voices for Mackey and Nigel, the eighth episode has commentary from the English voices for Daley and Leon, and the ninth episode has commentary from the English voice for Nene. The second disc also includes character biographies, textless versions of the opening and closing credits, as well as previews for other ADV releases.
The third disc in the set has three voice actor commentaries. The eleventh episode has commentary from the English voice for Linna, the thirteenth episode has commentary for the English voice for Sylia, and the fourteenth episode has commentary from the English voices for Priss and Linna. The fourth disc has commentary on the sixteenth episode from the English voices for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. There is a gallery of concept art for the hardsuits (however, this feature is labeled as "Character Sketches"). "Vehicle Technology" has pictures and explanations for the mecha that appears in the series. There are voice actor profiles for the Japanese and English voice actors for Linna, Priss, Sylia, and Nene. The textless opening and closing are included, as well as ADV previews.
The fifth disc has a video interview with the English voice actors for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. However, the audio on this feature has a tendency to fade in and out, especially on the voice actor for Linna. A question is posted on the screen, and they cut in the answers from each of the voice actors. The sixth disc includes two voice actor audio commentaries. Episodes twenty-five and twenty-six both have commentary by the English voice actors for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. The textless opening and closing are included, as well as ADV previews.
In some respects, I was a little disappointed by the bonus features. However, if you are a fan of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, this set would be worth purchasing to have all of the episodes in one set, instead of purchasing each disc individually.』
(You know) 『There are people who don't like this show simply because it is not the original Bubblegum Crisis. They should call up the people who hate Battlestar Galactica because it isn't the original and have a party. As for me, I'll stay home and watch me some good sci-fi!
When it comes to cyberpunk, there are only a couple of classics that really nail what it's all about. In the west and the live action department, we have Blade Runner and the Matrix. In the East we Ghost in the Shell (the movie, and the excellent first season of the tv show in particular), and this awesome show that just screams classic in every way if you love sci-fi action with cyberpunk overtones. I started to watch the first Bubblegum Crisis and got bored. I started to watch this show and got hooked. It tells a story of a Tokyo of the future that's crawling with humanoid robots called Voomers (boomers?). Everything would be great except...every once in a while the robots go bezerk and try to kill people. And that's where the heroes come in.
The Knight Sabers are a group of girl vigilantes who destroy Voomers gone awry. In the first episode a country girl moves into town wanting to know about the Knight Sabers, manages to track them down, and joins up! And so she joins a techie nerd girl who works for the A.D. Police (police who take care of Voomer problems), a rather butch rock-singer biker chick named Priss, and their rich-girl employer in their night-time cyber-crime fighting. All that would make for a great show alone, but this show just exceeds expectations in every way.
Every character has a deep personality, a complex backstory, and great voice-acting (especially in the incredible English version which is easily up to par with Battle Athletes Victory and Princess Nine for top ranking in greatest dubs ever) to go along with some really snappy dialog. The first time through you'll enjoy the characters and the story (which is much deeper than you'd expect and has some great plot twists), but each time I watch this show I like it more. The relattionships between the characters, the great action sequences, the high-budget animation (easily OVA quality), and awesome music (yes, I do own the awesome soundtrack cd with all the Japanese songs and printed out the BIO for the singer), just get better and better with each viewing. And speaking of audio, if you really like this show, the defnitive version is the Essential Anime version, which features audio commentary with the voice actors and director (the best commentary in any anime I've ever heard), and a great 5.1 surround remix of the English audio. And at something like 9 episodes each, it's also a great value.
If this show has a flaw, it's the unevenness of the show. It starts out an edgy comedy-action/light-drama with light horror elements (the core of the Voomer that they have to destroy looks an awful lot like a heart, and the first time the protagonist Leena tries to fight in a simulator she's terrified) , turns into a pretty much straight-action show, and then becomes horror again (armies of Voomers that look like zombies assaulting a police station) with heavy-introspection (mind-linking with the mother of all Voomers who is hacking the Knight Saber's minds while they fight in the vaccuum of space). If you aren't ready for it it might be enough to derail it for you. If you can hang on for the wild ride you'll find one of the most deeply satifying of anime with strong female protagonists, great action, wonderful storytelling, fantastic Japanese Rock music, and top notch writing and direction (the anime was produced with cooperation between East and West).
This is one of the few shows where you'll watch one episode and end up watching the whole disc in one sitting (one episode flows directly into another like it's one long movie). One of the best anime every produced, and definitely one of Pioneer's best. If you loved Battle Athletes Victory, or especialy Generator Gawl, and enjoy cyberpunk, you owe it to yourself to watch this show. It's awesome. 』 『Studio: Adv Films Release Date: 11/25/2008 Run time: 650 minutes』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Becomes stranger by the episode) 『I would have really loved this anime if I was around 14, and it is too violent for younger viewers.
The plot, as with most Japanese animation of the 90s, is very incoherent. It is as if the writers decided to take the story in multiple directions and failed in every single one. It tries to be philosophical. Can one obtain happiness without sacrifice?, repeatedly asks the main character, but I really didn't care for the answer to the question because it seemed very trivial to me (adult in his 30s).
How come most of the villians are always wearing a nice suit? How come the giant evil sphere is in a shape of an eye and many of the characters lose their eye? How come Giant Robo (which is purely mechanical) inexplicably cries when it loses its arm? How come Dr. Shizuma just explain things instead looking like a drug addict suffering from severe withdrawl and speech impairment? There are many inexplicable events which this anime does not even attempt to explain.
The 6 episode series starts off great. The initial explaination of Dr. Von Fogler and his attempt to create a "beautiful night" is one of the all time great Japanese animation clips. Rarely has a depiction of a "Mad Scientist" so compellingly dramatized and shown with such unforgettable vision.
But the series takes few twists and starts to introduce unnecessary characters which confuses lot more than it adds to the coherence of the story.
In the end, it is just a cartoon. It is visually satisfying and has enough elements to be worth watching. This is still one of the best Japanese animation of the 90s. Giant Robo is an example of how much Japanese animation has slid from its glory years of late 60s to early 80s.』
(Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good...) 『 For all the hype and praise surrounding this series, it's really doesn't distinct from the mold too much. It suffers the same standard pitfalls of constant theme announcement, weepy protagonist, convoluted narrative that runs through most anime. The much lauded 'deeply-developed characters' aren't that rounded. Character development is literally shrieked out and slapped in your face ("I DID THIS BECAUSE THIS IS THE WAY I'VE ALWAYS FELT AND THIS IS WHY I DO THINGS!") and there are many last minute revelatory details pertaining to character or plot that seem to be shortcuts if anything. Also, for a series titled 'Giant Robo', we don't see Giant Robo do all that much. While it may be considered standard, I wanted to see Robo fighting some other robots, which is very rare. One last robot vs. robot fight is presented, but nothing happens; The 2 villainous robots heading towards Giant Robo's location never make it by the end of the last episode, which is a bizarre detail. Ultimately, this series lacks focus. There are too many characters who we learn almost nothing about doing far too much in such a short time. Lastly; of my complaints, the ending stumbles badly, resting on the shoulders of characters introduced in the last 3 episodes revealing something vague and ineffective to the plot as well as an awful plot device putting an end-cap on the antagonist.
On the other hand, Giant Robo does a lot of good. The animation is gorgeous, the character design is varied and interesting; the IPO populated by Chinese folk tale amalgamations and Big Fire populated by wild and wide-ranging, original villains. The fully-orchestral score works perfectly, adding an epical punch. I found myself easily invested in some of the characters and the constant threats to their lives ( Which have actual impact; so many characters die that the risk affects everyone.) In general, it's exciting and fun.
If you're going to buy Giant Robo, buy the economy pack. I don't know how many times you'll watch it but it's a good value for an entertaining series.』
(Better than you'd expect!) 『When I first watched this series, I thought it was okay. But it grew on me at a terrific speed and now I'd consider it among the best animes I've seen. Be warned though, it is somewhat incomplete, but still excellent for what it is. The animation is incredible, the writing good and the characters (especially the badguys) are fascinating.
As I understand it the world of GIANT ROBO THE ANIMATION - THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is a shared universe populated several characters from the collected works of mangaka Mitsuteru Yokoyama, whom is under-represented in the West while being highly regarded in Japan. Because Yokoyama's work was varied and included adaptations of classic Chinese works you'll see ancient Chinese warriors fight alongside giant robots and futuristic machines. If you are willing to go with this then you'll enjoy this series, especially for the sheer craziness that it delivers. Yet the story (told in an operatic, over-the-top way) is quite interesting and haunting. And the music is excellent as well, which is always a bonus. It's not really very subtle, but in this case its a selling point. A definite recommendation!
CLARIFICATION: When I said its incomplete I don't mean that there's an episode missing or unfinished. It's just that the producers and director made this series apparently planned several prequels (to which there are frequent allusions) as well as a sequel that would have had an incredible climax. Because the series had a long, delayed production and was not much of a success it seems that none of these sequels and prequels will get produced any time soon. It's kind of like George Lucas first making THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK instead of "NEW HOPE" and then never making any other Star Wars film. It's sad, but true.』
(giant robo the animation economy pack) 『This is like, the grandaddy of animated robot tv shows. If you like voltron, transformers, anime works shows, or anything like that, this is for you.』

Sometimes when u watch an older anime, the humor is REALLY outdated and hard to actually laugh at. But throughout the show and movies I just LAUGHED. Definitely worth getting if your looking for a comedy-anime (plus, i've always been a sucker 4 the damsel in distress plot).』
(The films themselves are good, but this set is a ripoff) 『The Ranma 1/2 Movie DVD Box Set is a two disc set. The first disc contains the first Ranma 1/2 movie, Big Trouble in Nekonron, China. The second disc contains the second Ranma 1/2 movie, Nihao My Concubine. However, neither disc contains any special features.
While the films themselves were very enjoyable, I was disappointed that all this two disc set had were the movies. The runtime for the first film is 81 minutes, and the runtime for the second film is 59 minutes. With such short runtimes, both films could have easily fit onto one disc. However, between releasing the films in a two-disc box set, and not including any special features, it comes across that Viz Media was more interested in finding a way to be able to charge as much as possible and not put much effort into the release. By putting the films into a two-disc set, Viz Media seemed to feel they were justified to charge the same amount for this set as for the episode box sets. Personally, I feel that the set, as it is now, is a ripoff.
While I enjoy Ranma 1/2, I think Viz Media is charging too much for this set. If you are a Ranma 1/2 fan and want to have everything on DVD, then you do need to acquire this set to complete your collection. However, I would recommend seeing if you can find it for a better price, either because a retail outlet regularly sells it for a lower price, or the set is lowered during a sales promotion. Or, as a last resort, you can always wait for the price to fall naturally, because the set has been out for a long enough time that Viz Media feels they've gotten as many sales as they can at the higher price. However, it could still be a couple of years before that happens, so you might have to wait a while for that option.』
(A usual) 『I've seen this movies plenty of times, and they are, of course, 'very Ranma'. Nothing new here but I would really apreciatte some subtitles in other languages other than english. Portuguese, french or spanish at least.』
(Ranma 1/2 Movie Box Set) 『Ranma 1/2 is one of the must see anime to watch if you're a fan. I know there are new fans and still growing but if you guys want to know where it grew from. Ranma 1/2 is one of them. Check out the series.』
(Fantastic movies) 『Both of Ranma 1/2 movies are great. They both deal with someone abducting Akane. If I had to choose I would say the 2nd movie was better. Mainly because of the fights at the end. All of the main characters get to battle one of the bad guys.
The first movie deals with Akane being kidnapped by the cult of pickle worshipers...I am serious. Ranma has to battle all each of the 7 lucky god's martial artists. The movie is slow at the beginning, but picks up past towards the middle.
The second movie is about Akane being kidnapped by a young prince. The main cast has been stranded on a deserted island. The twist in this movie is he kidnaps every women he sees and pits them in a contest for his hand in marriage. This movie has some great fan service. The girls have on some of the most revealing bathing suits you will ever see. Ukyou is the standout winner on this front.
I know there must be a little concern over the price. $49 for 2 movies? In context it isn't an unreasonable price. When they first came out on VHS is was $34.99 per movie. I know because I paid that. I have seen the price as low at $42 on this site. It may seem like a lot but your getting your getting your money's worth. 』 『In-pack promotion: exclusive Ranma½ 3-D art image included!

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great!!) 『I bought this for my husband since he kept telling me about this really awesome show he used to watch years back. We started watching the series together, and boy do I like the show now too! I am really glad I bought this, and anyone who is interested in Anime should like it too. It is a 7 disc set, and everything came correctly. You should definitely buy this show!』
(Great fun!) 『I know nothing of animated movies... My wife and I like and enjoy our cartoons and over the top action. This had that and more. Good story, deep characters, enjoyable action, and of course oh my gosh I can't believe he just did that...
Anyway we watched it with our kids and while there was a little bit of bloody violence I did not find it excessive.』
(Battles, animation, and honor) 『This is a great animation that combines battles, traditional anime, some 3d animation. It honors some of the Japanese traditions, and the rice and their farmers are central themes of history. I've heard that a long time ago Japanese were divided in 4 main casts: farmers, samurai (warriors), merchants, and royalty. This story shows the struggles for power among these casts. The end is very emotional; indeed, not a children's storybook.
Disclaimer: I am a huge anime fan and my opinion might be biased :-)』
(BA) 『if you enjoy samurai anime then you have got to see this series. it's a little slow in parts but what anime isn't. i highly recommend this series.』
(Decent To The Story But Feel Myself Lacking A True Liking) 『I've had this box set for a few months and have tried to put my views here yes it follows the Seven Samurai storyline very well and the background animation was excellent as well as the CGI but the animation for the characters for half the episodes was either sub-par or decent. This is not meant to insult this series but when I first bought it I expected both an excellent anime plus character animation it seemed in some episodes that they were more concerned with the background than the characters drawing. This is a great story if you like samurai action, mecha battles, and sword combat but it sometimes got annoying looking at an episode and thinking a child drew it.The video is wide screen format with 5.1 english audio or 2.0 japanese audio as expected with Funimation they have gotten terrific voice actors for this anime as well as great japanese voice actors for this anime. The price is steep but again if you like samurai action flicks with a dose of sci-fi this series would be for you.』 『Legendary Epic Reborn!
This 7-disc set contains the enitre Samurai 7 saga - over 11 hours of action!
Samurai 7 is set in a futuristic world that has just seen the end of a massive war, many villages are being terrorized by Nobuseri bandits. The Nobuseri are no normal bandits. They were once men, but during the war they modifed themselves with machines to become living weapons and now apprear as more machine than man. A group of villagers decide to hire samurai to protect their village. These men of valor are as skilled as they are unique.』
『The broadcast seriesSamurai 7(2004) borrows the premise of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai(1954): driven to desperation by bandits who steal their crops, the inhabitants of a small village hire unemployed samurai to defend them. With nothing to offer as wages but their precious rice, the villagers recruit warriors poor enough to accept the dishonor of working for peasants.Samurai 7moves the story into the future: the bandits and some of the samurai aremecha. The grim ronin Kambei leads the viewers in the defense of their village, then tackles the forces of the orchidaceous emperor Ukyo. Kambei and his mismatched band attack the Capitol,Ukyo's equivalent of the Death Star. The warriors perform gravity-defying leaps, as they slash through steel plating, deflect bullets, and split laser beams with their swords in a climactic battle that occupies most of the last three episodes. The drawn/CG combinations reveal whySamurai 7cost a reported¥32,500,000 (nearly $300,000) per episode, an extremely high price by Japanese standards.
Widely acclaimed as a masterpiece of world cinema, Kurosawa'sSeven Samuraistressed the shared humanity of the peasants, the samurai, and even the bandits; the often grotesque people andmechain this sci-fi adventure lack that essential bond.Samurai 7offers plenty of over-the-top battle sequences for viewers who enjoy a mixture of feudal and futuristic daring-do. But its meandering plot, stock heroes, and tin pot villains have very little to do with its supposed model.
