I know there is a lot of hype on the series, but its beyond me why it deserves it. Episodes 2-5 do show some potential, but after that the series fizzles out in a string of sub-plots that have nothing to do with what was supposed to be the premise of the series.』
(SOS) 『Amazing series. My only 'complaint' is that it isn't longer (yes, I know there's another season(sorta)). Worth noting that the episodes were originally broadcast in a different order, various fan-sites can provide you with the list.』
(Time I will not get back...) 『The BLAH-factor: This is one of those anime flicks I believe everyone "loves" because someone else 'loved' it before them. The notion of a goddess creating a universe of girls crazed for one average guy just doesn't interest me. The notion of the series appears 'complex' on the surface but is really the same ol' same ol': cute girls want one average guy. Save your money and RENT this before buying it. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. For me, I shouldn't have to waste my time watching MORE than one disk of the series to become *remotely* interested. Good points: To be fair? The character design (visually...not substance) is neat, the animation is fantastic, it does have its moments of humor, and it's a decent source for some pop culture. I was sucked into buying this when I watched the promo-- who doesn't love an opening para-para with some cute characters?』
(Terribly Out of Order on the DVDs!!!) 『The series is great but the DVD release has one major flaw: the studio mixed the order of the episodes in an attempt to make them chronologically correct. Instead they actually made matters worse. Episodes 6 and 7 actually finish up the series. It makes sense when viewed in this order. Also episode 00 should be seen last as it makes little sense until after the finale.
Check the wikipedia site and follow the broadcast order for best results.
Anyway, the show is great, a kind of newer version of Tenchi Muyo. The characters are all likable and burst with personality. The animation is top notch and the musical score is also great. This is a series for all ages, though teenagers and older will get most of the references. Also, for those not well versed in anime, a few jokes will be over your head (like when Haruhi says "Launch the Gundam!!!" but they bleep out part of Gundam and the actual Gundam is blurred).
Overall a light hearted and fun series that should be enjoyed in the proper order and not Bandai's screwy order on the DVDs... just make sure episodes 00, 5 and 6 are last (or rewatch with those as the last)!』
(An amazing anime...watch in broadcast order for best results) 『"The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzuimiya" has "something for everyone." There's a lot of hilarious comedy (and it should be noted, I don't always find anime humor that funny), some drama-lite, some sci-fi elements--indeed the entire series was "created by otaku lovers for otaku lovers." ("Otaku" refers to the culture of people who love anime, manga, and video games, etc.)
I can't add a whole lot that everyone else already has by now, but I will say do yourself a favor and look up the original Japanese broadcast order. When they made the dvds (for Japan and U.S.) they released the episodes in chronological order which is NOT how they were meant to be seen, and it is in fact much more enjoyable and meaningful to watch them in their original broadcast order.
I will say, being a huge fan of the series and owning some of the limited editions--they are well worth the extras, not just for the convenience disc, but they are jampacked with really cool goodies. That said, for the person just giving this a try, or if you think $200 is too much to spend for a boxed set--and that I'm willing, shows you how much I love the series--this is a worthy box set, though admittedly bare bones as far as anime sets go.』 『I thought that when I entered high school, my days of believing in aliens, time travelers and ESPers were going to be over. That is until she introduced herself. Claiming to be interested in only aliens, time travelers, and ESPers, Haruhi Suzumiya was the strangest girl I ve met in a long time. Before I knew what s going on, I ve been dragged into her weird club, and it looks like I m not the only one who has been drafted into this SOS Brigade of hers, because there are three other students who don t seem to be so ordinary themselves. Either way we ve all found ourselves caught up in Haruhi s quest to search for all things extraordinary. And what s this I hear about us making a movie?』 『Based on a series of best-selling novels by Nagaru Tanigawa,The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya(2006) overflows with zany energy. Despite the title, Haruhi Suzumiya is anything but melancholy: she's a bossy, outspoken high school girl who's searching for "aliens, time travelers, and espers." To aid her search, Haruhi founds a new club, The SOS Brigade. Although she doesn't realize it, Haruhi has actually found what she's looking for in her recruits: Yuki is an alien; Mikuru, a time traveler; Itsuki, an esper. Kyon, the put-upon narrator,is normal--at least superficially.Itsuki warns Kyon that the existence of the universe may depend on Haruhi's whims. When she gets upset, dark gaps open between dimensions, haunted byshinji(ghostly giants) whom Itsuki and other espers must destroy. Kyon wonders if he's having nightmares or protecting the world from destruction, but this storyline recedes as the series progresses. LikeDokkoidaandMagical Shopping ArcadeAbenobashi,Melancholyspoofs the clichés of anime andotakuculture. When the president of the computer club challenges the SOS Brigade to a duel playing "Day of Sagittarius 3," the episode turns into an outrageous spoof of sci-fi anime, with Haruhi shouting commands from the bridge of an imaginary space ship. But the series stops, rather than ends, with the story unresolved as Haruhi and Kyon walk off into the rain. Given the popularity ofMelancholyin Japan and the US, a sequel may be in the works. So do the affairs/travels/exploits that Naruto, Sakura, Ten-Ten, Garra, Rock Lee, Hinata, Neji, Kiba and all the other characters that encompass this. They are now on their way to putting the things that held them back aside. As Naruto leaves to train with "Pervy Sage" in the last episode of this volume. Everyone vows to get themselves stronger and powerful in their area of expertise so that they can keep up with Naruto. Just about every episode of this volume are filled with action with the majority of the characters getting their chance to shine throughout. Worth the price of admission and worthy of your attention as well. I've enjoyed the series as a whole. But this one really sets up nicely for what soon follows...the next step of the Naruto series.
Naruto Shippuden』
(After this, it's SHIPPUDEN TIME!) 『I've liked all the episodes and to know that after this box set I get to Shippuden, I was super excited.』
(Lowered production value.) 『I bought this because Cartoon Network canceled Naruto when it had just over TEN episodes left! (so stupid)
The important thing is this set DOES have our beloved English cast. I was worried after having to sit through the Japanese track watching these online. The English cast are better actors in my opinion (and yes, I watch and enjoy Japanese tracks for other shows).
Well, I've read people raving over the Uncut set. I'm here to say I preferred it on CN. I am deducting a star because There Is No English Captioning. The subtitles are for the Japanese track only and don't fit what the characters are saying. I sometimes like to compare localization this way, but sometimes I'd rather the words fit. This is going to confuse my mother who is hearing impaired. Deaf people may be confused by all the foreign references (like sama).
CN always had good captions with perfect timing. This shows that Viz cut corners on this expensive boxset. We're actually getting LESS than if it had finished on air. The episodes are great. This product is a disappointment.
Please go to Viz's website and demand English captions for the Shippuden boxset!
』
(great) 『The only thing I wish they would do with this series is lump them up into a box set or fewer dvd's.』
(Rejoice Fans For The Filler Episodes Some People Dislike Has Reached The End) 『This is the final box set with the Naruto filler episodes so for hardcore fans who disliked these episodes rejoice as this marks the end of the fillers. The set has the finale of the Kurenai/Yakumo saga, and after that we have Kiba and Naruto with an assignment to protect a rather obnoxious client and the supposedly priceless heirloom with him during their journey and as one might expect trouble does come for our wayward travelers. The next few episodes teams Rock Lee, Sakura, and Naruto to guard a member of a band of rogue ninja to his trial but not only must they contend with the rogue ninja band trying to get their prisoner but also one of the guard who has his own personal score to settle with the captured ninja. The following episodes teams Neji, Ten-ten, and Naruto who are trying to solve the mystery of attacks with some neighboring town as well as the mystery of a young amnesic man Naruto saves and brings back to the village and is discovered to have unique abilities of his own, and while on their journey it's discovered that the amnesic young man may hold more answers on the mysterious attackers and his connection to them than he rather admit. The final episodes deal with the sand village and a story-line that deals with Gara's attempt at reaching out to his fellow villagers to try and befriend them rather than hurt them, but the scars still run deep and only one young female ninja-in-training is willing to learn from Gara, but there's a new threat as some unknown ninja sneak into the sand village and kidnap the young ninja befriended by Gara in order to lure him out for a dark purpose. The leaf village finds out about the threat and Shikamaru assembles a team to help the sand village out and return the favor owed to them for their help and the Sasuke retrieval assignment, and the finale will show us the beginning of Naruto's journey with pervy sage and the promise of the other Konoha 12 to become stronger themselves when Naruto returns. These episodes for myself were great to watch and I'm finally happy to be getting the entire Naruto series set in uncut episode box sets, don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching them on Adult Swim but even than they had them censored and it was a little irritating to sometimes see the episodes like that and it's also sad that they decided to cancel Naruto on cartoon network but oh well. The one true complaint I'm gonna have with the Naruto Shippuden series is that they kept the same voice for the character of Naruto in the dubbed audio I mean come on he's supposed to be fifteen going on sixteen his voice should be a little more manly but other than that sad situation the series is still pretty good and entertaining so no other complaints about the show.』 『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 09/22/2009 Run time: 375 minutes』

(outlaw star :complete collection) 『it came in a timely manner, was exactly as advertised, and I'm overall very satisfied with my purchase and look forward to buying more products from this seller.』
(Better than satisfactory) 『At first I was leery about buying an out of production DVD set, but this arrived exactly as advertised. All DVDs were accounted for and in great condition, no less, in the languages as promised. I've since watched the whole season and can tell you the physical quality is great.
As for content, I was pleased with the show, but I think you can find better. I was looking for a classic sci-fi anime, and I'm afraid this isn't it just yet. I was hoping for some high intensity space battles that challenged my imagination, and I might say they could have been better. The ground fighting was very cool, however, and I like how they incorporated magic into the show.
The characters were likeable and worked well as a team, but sometimes their behavior was a little predictable. Gene Starwind has a light case of Goku syndrome where he never fails to save the day, though he does it with a lot more style and edge than Goku of DragonBall Z. Interestingly my favorite character Suzuka has the fewest lines; I guess they're just more poignant.
I'll watch the series again, no doubt, but if you're looking for Star Wars quality story and creativity (IV, V,&VI), this is one step short. 4/5』
(Great series, bad DVD quality.) 『The series is great, however the quality of product I received is poor. I received a brand new, sealed set, however disks 1 and 3 came damaged and unreadable. This is very disappointing, since now I'll have to download the episodes that I'm missing. Don't let my review deter you from purchasing though, since I'm sure I just got unlucky.』
(Outlaw Star: Complete Collection) 『I love this series! This is a fabulous East meets West style Space Western. Collection includes a couple episodes that did not make it to the Cartoon Network release for some obvious reasons. Worth the buy.
I bought this box and was not at all dissappointed. It's a 1pc DVD case that has pages for the DVDs inside. Not yet released Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Here are my two cents.) 『As a Dragon Ball fan, I am very excited that Funimation has finally released their signature anime in their original entirety. I know I know. That this is the fourth DBZ video release, but here me out. THis is a set design for the hardcore audience like me. Speaking of me, I was one of the many fans that got all the flimsy Oragne Cropped sets. At first when I heard about this, I was against it. But when I saw WolfClawStudios' Review and read the article on Daizenshuu EX about the Home Video Release of the series, I was hooked! So I admit that the fandom is wearing thin with the American crowd, but hardcore fans like me and others are staying true in the blue following Son Goku!
(2 questions I want answered!) 『Okay, I'm giving this a high rating because I am thankful that these box sets are as close to the original as we can get. But I do wonder:
Why we can watch the American dub with Japanese music on the blu-ray movies, but no original Japanese voices with the American music? I've gotten used to the original Japanese music but I would be really pleased if we could have the original voices with subtitles and the American tracks. That would be awesome and I think a ton of people agree.
Also, I've read that the original Japanese Dragon Boxes (either box 1 or box 2) had additional stuff, like the OVA 'The plan to destory the Sayijns' and I see no evidence that the American Dragon Boxes are going to contain that.
Can anyone clear this up for me? Also, do we think these will ever be released in a blu-ray format?』
(Lol) 『Funny how this is not coming out until feb of 2010, yet we already have 9 reviews. This is because it is the same thing just some differences, nothing too big. It's still DBZ, still same characters, still everything just some minor differences. Like I said before IF this is your first time buying the season then you should if its not&you want it for the extra features&differences then that's fine too&of course, I think everyone would love to buy this even more IF the price went down.
-The thing I love the MOST about DB/Z/GT is that it is like a Christian show!! Goku is the one who always leads everyone the correct way, He is the savior of the world! (Symbolic to God leading us the right way&being our Savior!)
Goku trains&helps his friends to become good fighters (Symbolic to God "training" us in His Word)
Goku trusts in his friends knowing they will do the right thing. (Symbolic to God trusting that His true followers will obey Him&go His way)
Goku always shows love&mercy even to his enemies&evil people. (Symbolic to God showing all us people, whom have broken His Perfect Law -The Ten Commandments- and yet He still gives us Mercy to flee from sin&follow Him)
Goku believes anyone can change their life from bad, to good. (Symbolic to fleeing from our sins&following the Will of God)
Goku was like a father, always protecting people from evil (Symbolic to how God protects us from evil&when the storms comes, He's still with us)
Everytime it seems hopeless&like evil will prevail&there is no way out, Goku is always there to help! (Symbolic to no matter how strong the temptation or urge is, God always provides a way out for us because He is with us)
When the Saiyans or other fighters feel like there is no hope, they go into a new level of strength (Symbolic to when you are weakest you are strongest)
Like with us when we feel we can't resist the temptation or do the Will of God, we still press on and reach a new level or strength.....haha, like a Spiritual Super Saiyan, being much stronger into&with God then we were before.
When the fighters are fighting&they feel there is no hope, someone else usually comes to the aid (Symbolic to God will never leave us&He always provides help)
DBZ is not only a great show but I look at it through a Christian sense, look at it as a Christian sense, it's symbolic, it'll make it 10x better! I know it did for me!』
(Awesome, but Bejita? Well.. It does make sense a little.) 『If you're a fan of the original version you will not be disappointed and the video couldn't get any better! True Dragon Box quality provided by FUNimation entertainment.
Features: - Dragon Box Quality - Japanese/English Audio - Subs by Steve Simmons - Dragon Book
I'm really hoping for a TV special.. but I wouldn't hope for it.』
(Purist?) 『I have watched Dragon Ball Z from the first episode to the last when it started to air on Cartoon Networks Toonami. All though this doesn't have the DUB on it, it is still an awesome thing for any DBZ lover to own. BUT, this set is more of a collectors item for me. Mainly because instead of having to move my eyes from the action to have to read subs, I would rather just like to sit and enjoy watching the Z-fighters beat each other to death while I know what they are saying. So enough of this purist BS, if you love the show you love the show. And individuals dub or sub preferences are irrelevant. All DBZ lovers are purists, The End.』 『Originally produced in limited quantities in Japan, the incredibly rare Dragon Box has long been the ultimate prize for the most avid Dragon Ball Z collectors. Now this coveted collection has been reproduced for the first time in the United States, giving hardcore fans the definitive Dragon Ball Z experience.
The battle to harness the power of the seven Dragon Balls explodes in vivid detail like never before. The Dragon Box two features episodes 42-83, remastered and restored frame by frame, rendering the legendary action in pristine clarity. Each episode is presented in Japanese with the complete opening and closing credits and includes the original episode previews.
Truly the essential edition for Dragon Ball Z purists, this set isn’t an addition to your archive – it is your archive. Your wish is finally granted. The Dragon Box is here.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Degrassi Grows Up) 『The second season of Degrassi: The Next Generation separates itself from the first by covering more grown up storylines, introducing interesting new characters, and taking the show to a new level overall. This season, half of the cast enters their freshmen year of high school, and a range of high school issues come to light.
The season immediately starts off with an extremely difficult topic--child abuse. And we get an introduction to a great new character, Craig Manning, who get to see deal with the issue first hand. Craig is the new kid at Degrassi. Aside from being a mysterious loner, he has a dark side that he hides from the people around him. His dad abuses him. And this isn't the only extreme issue dealt with this season. We get our first closeted gay character, Marco Delrossi, whose coming out process is displayed wonderfully on screen. Another new character is Ellie Nash, a feisty punk rocker with an independent attitude.
The new characters add a lot to season two, but the characters we grew to know and love in season one go through a lot this season as well. And the range of issues they go through are more grown up as well. Some of these issues include rape, an eating disorder, and underaged drinking. We also see some common issues that most teens face on a day to day basis; dating, homework or just fitting in with the right crowd. These are all important parts of high school, and we all know it because we've all been there.
Degrassi continues to address major milestones that teenagers face everyday, while also giving us a bit of light hearted humor to go with it. The show never fails to present its characters and their issues in an honest, frank manner that fans of the show will relate to. This season shows more of a mature side to the characters we got to know in season one, as well as some new ones. If you enjoyed season one, I recommend buying season two to watch your favorite characters continue to grow and develop and face all the problems that come along with being a teenager.』
(Much better than season 1) 『Season 2 intoduces a couple of new charectors, Craig, Marco, and Ellie, as well as bringing Joey back after just two episodes the year before. It also deals with bigger issues, such as child abuse, rape, and homosexuality.
When Doves Cry 5/5 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun 5/5 Karma Chameleon 5/5 Weird Science 4/5 Drive 5/5 Shout part 1 and 2 5/5 Mirror in the Bathroom 4/5 Take My Breath Away 3/5 Don't Believe the Hype 4/5 White Wedding 4/5 Careless Whisper 5/5 Hot for Teacher 4/5 Message in a Bottle 5/5 Relax 1/5 Dressed in Black 5/5 Fight for Your Right 5/5 How Soon Is Now 5/5 Tears Are Not Enough part 1&2 5/5 』
(Degrassi Season Two; better then Season One.) 『Season Two does two things in the beginning of the season. Picks up where the cast left off last season. Ashley Kerwin's character has the biggest transformation then anyone from the original cast. Gone is the Mandy Moore clone Ashley and in her place is an Emo looking more introspective Ashley. Another interesting aspect of Season Two is the introduction of Craig Manning into the series. Craig's character deals with physical abuse from his father which is dealt with in the first two episodes of the seasons and the last two. Craig's interaction with Manny Santos and Ashley Kerwin are foreshadowing his relationship with them both in future seasons. Season Two also deals with touchy subjects like teen drinking, eating disorders, racism, self-image, abortion, rape, sexual identity, and death. This season also continues two of Degrassi great love affairs. Liberty Van Zandt&J.T. Yorke. Sean Cameron&Emma Nielson. This second season really begins the ups and downs that Semma (nickname for Sean&Emma) will go through the length of the series. As the same with Liberty&J.T. Some say Degrassi is overrated, I say the exact opposite actually. It's as close to the average teenagers experience of teenage life a teen show can be and the second season is no different.』
(Degrassis is nothing short of amazing!) 『My first time watching degrassi I saw it and wasn't impressed at all. But once you get to know the characters, you begin to sympathize every bit of the way through the troubles each one goes through as he or she grows older. And once you see a little bit of it, you just have to watch more to see what happens. This is one of the best series out there for teenagers!』
(Degrassi Season 2......Enjoy!) 『Degrassi: The Next Generation is a school-centered soap opera aimed at both teens and adults. It is a spinoff of the 80s TV show Degrassi Junior High and features a new group of students at Degrassi Community School as well as many characters from the original series that are now grown up and facing issues and problems of their own.
There are so many things that make this show a success. The cast is picture perfect. This is not the type of series that casts 25-year-olds to play someone in 9th grade. The team behind Degrassi goes for realism all the way. Because a they have a 14-year-old actor play a 14-year-old character, it packs a more dramatic punch when we see the sometimes very troublesome situations the characters get themselves in. This isn't a hilarious teen comedy show like Saved By the Bell. The characters are all three-dimensional and you won't find any stereotypes. The cast of young actors represents a true cross-section of the sort of kids you would see in real life.
As far as the storylines go, the superb first season dealt with many issues, such as teen drinking, internet stalkers, final exam stress, and in the season finale, the show became darker as one of the main characters, Ashley, overdosed on Ecstasy at a party.
Here, in the second season, the stories get even darker. Ashley spends the majority of this season dealing with how her behavior in the season one finale ruined her social life. Paige, the snobby rich girl with a heart of gold, learns the hard way that to some guys "no" doesn't always mean "no." Marco, a new character introduced this season, must deal with his sexuality. As for the adults, Emma's mother, Christine, decides to marry her boyfriend, science teacher Archie Simpson. On the eve of her wedding, she finds out she is pregnant. Archie has specifically told her he doesn't want kids so she freaks out...what should she do? Joey Jeremiah deals with his dead wife's son Craig after it is revealed that Craig's father has been SEVERELY beating him (in one of Degrassi's most painful-to-watch scenes ever). There are many more interesting stories weaving throughout this season and it never lets up. This is definitely indicative of the even greater stories to come in the later seasons!
On to the DVDs themselves. Degrassi: The Next Generation is filmed in widescreen, but for some reason, the powers-that-be have decided to release the show on DVD in fullscreen pan and scan. This is disappointing, because Degrassi is a bigger-budgeted show and every episode has a movie-like quality to it. The cropping of the picture is obvious and to have the episodes as they were originally shot would be nice. Otherwise, the picture quality is perfect, at least as good as originally broadcast.
There are three discs of episodes and then a fourth disc with a TON of special features. SuperFans of Degrassi (you know who you are) will eat this stuff up. There are over 130 deleted scenes, audition tapes, and much more.
All in all, Degrassi: The Next Generation is a wonderful series that anyone can enjoy. Even though there's the whole annoying no-widescreen issue, this is definitely a solid DVD set. Definitely buy this and the rest of the series! You won't be disappointed! 』 『A new year of school brings new challenges and even more intense situations for the students of Degrassi Community School. Besides relationship and self-identity issues, season two broaches serious topics such as date rape, child abuse, eating disorders and racism with the raw honesty and engaging drama that only Degrassi can provide. The teens in Degrassi: The Next Generation prove it again and again. Degrassi is 100% Intense. This four DVD Ultimate Box set is a must-watch for any fan of Degrassi: The Next Generation.』

(great show, great ending, great purchase) 『Wolf's Rain is probably one of the first anime i ever purchused. The show is amazing and has a great ending. Most anime have pretty terriable ending, but this ending wont disapoint. The price is amazing and very much worth the money. This dvd set contains all the episodes of Wolf's rain.』
(Much better than I expected.) 『I have to say that after having seen a few episodes of this show randomly on Cartoon Network a while back I was skeptical about what it had to offer. But I will say that after watching the whole series through I changed my mind about it. It had a very original story behind it. A post apocalyptic world where wolves are believed to have been hunted to extinction by the Nobles (a ruling class in the world who still remember some of the old science from before the Apocalypse) because of a story that claims that the door to "Paradise" will only be found by wolves and once they find paradise the world we know will end. However the wolves are not extinct, they just learned how to make themselves appear human. The story follows Kiba and three other wolves, who follow him for differing reasons, as they make their way out of the city in search of paradise. Along the way there are a few human characters that have big parts in the show as well and they all do the usual human thing of having realizations about the problems that humanity caused or being just plain crazy. All in all I would recommend this to anyone who is either a true anime fan or people who like anime that is specifically about the trials and tribulations of man, since the wolves are usually seen in human form and deal with very human like problems. And if you aren't sure whether you would or wouldn't like this anime I would suggest renting it from netflix or borrowing from someone you know who already has it because I am pretty sure that once you see the show you will buy it. And if not I guess this type of show just isn't for you.』
(Wolf's Rain - Perfect Collection) 『I bought these CDs for my daughter, she is 9, and she really enjoyed the series. The art work is great and the flow of the episodes themselves is good. I feel that the story can be a little corny and over dramatic at times. However, I have watched other Anime movies and shows and that is normal. I bought it for my daughter so was a little hesitant because I know that Anime can be very violent at times but the violence in this series is not that bad. As mentioned earlier the art work is very good and the story is easy to follow and holds your interest . Overall I would rate the item w/ 4 out of 5 stars.』 『Studio: Infinity Resources Inc Release Date: 04/07/2009』

(The Second Half of a Brilliant Story) 『"Fullmetal Alchemist" follows the adventures of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, in a parallel world called Amestris, which closely resembles our own. There is one fundamental difference: in Amestris, the science of alchemy has superceded all of our sciences in importance. It's obvious why: alchemy combines all of them. If you understand the composition of matter, you can almost instantly take something--lead, say, or dirt--and create gold or flowers out of it. Matter is matter; matter of any kind can become matter of anything. There is one rule to this science, however: the law of equivalent exchange. To gain, something of equal value must be lost. The one exception to this rule is life: there is no matter of any kind that can be traded for life.
After the sudden death of their mother, Edward and Alphonse ignore this crucial rule, and try to bring her back. The attempt ends in disaster: Alphonse loses his human body, and Edward is maimed. The creature they made is nothing like their mother: it is a monster.
In order to restore Al's body, Edward has no alternative but to find the Philosopher's Stone, the only object on earth that can skirt the rule of equivalent exchange. However, the military is the only organization with real information on the Stone. So, in order to obtains what he needs, Edward must join the military--losing most of his freedom in the process. It's equivalent exchange all over again.
In the second season, the consequences grow more dire, the storylines deeper, more emotional, more moving, and more tragic. Pursued by evil, inhuman creatures known as the Homunculi who are also after the Stone, Edward ends up separated from Alphonse, and the two brothers embark on individual, parallel courses in order to do what they must, courses that could end the life of one or both before their goal is reached--or before they ever see each other again.
"Fullmetal Alchemist" has a brilliant story populated with brilliant characters. Both the plot and the people are among the best I have ever encountered in a fictional work of any kind. I'm not even an anime fan; I stumbled on this because I thought the story sounded cool. It's beyond cool; I don't often use this word, but I will repeat: it is brilliant. I can't recommend it enough.』
(FMA is one of the most amazing anime ever) 『This is a great anime. A great and touching end to the series and should be seen by everyone.』
(If you love the show) 『If you love the show you will love this box set. It comes with guide books and plenty of extras. My daughter loves the series and has been very pleased with her videos.
Now we just need the Brotherhood series to complete our collection.』 『When the Elric brothers recklessly attempted to raise their mother from the dead, the horrors they unleashed marked the beginning of a long journey into the darkest corners of the cruelty of mankind. Now, destinies are converging for those who remain to fight for the light of salvation.
The hunt for the truth behind truths is growing more desperate, and ruined Ishbal waits at the end of a road choked with wreckage both human and soulless. Amid rumors of new war and resurrected horrors of the past, hidden masters rush their pawns down this path of betrayal and doubt. As these seekers of the Philosopher’s Stone grasp for answers, the most sacred tenet of Alchemy is questioned – The Law of Equivalent Exchange. But the harshest judgment is reserved for the belief on which the Elrics have built their lives – the faith in an unbreakable bond between brothers. Weary and broken, Edward and Alphonse must face the ultimate sacrifice. Will it be enough to make them whole?

Its a bit annoying how Kenshin speaks half the time (in the subtitles) , "I will go with you, that I will" is an example. But since it it not the case when he gets serious or with any of the other characters at any time, I'm sure its done with good reason. It stopped bothering me after the first few episodes. There are tons of extras including linear notes which explains the context and history of what happens in the series. For example if there is a reference to the Boshin Wars then the linear notes will provide a short history of it to help you understand Kenshin's context. Extra's also include fanart etc. A really good buy if you are a fan.』
(great service, and a great season of kenshin :)) 『I really enjoyed season 2 of rurouni kenshin. it was great, but i think the best the best thing about it is that it got 2 me so fast. it was unbelievable. I was very pleased with the price, service, and quality.』
(Rurouni Kenshin at its best!!!!!) 『im a big fan of the rouniken series ever since i read the manga. it was great. and then i saw the show a long time ago on cartoon network and thought it was a great adaptation. but when we got to season 2, everything i saw before in season one paled in comparison. in this season you get more vinteresting villans, heroes and comedy. as well as one of the most deadly and admired villans in the series and anime, makoto shishio. this series is more complex, has more action and a deeper sense of story telling. i reccomend it for any fan or anime enthusiasts. in this set you get 35 episodes in an economy box. but beware, the only down side to this buy is the box itself. its frail and can break, so handle with care or move the discs to some where more safe. happy viewing!』
(Fantastic!) 『I bought the first season of Rurouni Kenshin and was rather drawn between liking and disliking it - season 1 stuck to the manga version pretty closely for half the season, but the filler episodes about killed me...
After purchasing and watching the second season of RK, I just about died of happiness. The Kyoto arc really does follow the manga rather well, and for that I was most ecstatic. Each episode was packed with amazing animation, beautiful artwork, thrilling stories, and marvelous dialogue. I highly recommend this season/box set to Rurouni Kenshin fans!』
(Just so darn much fun, but try to get a good copy...) 『Season Two is much better than Season One, which was good, but two involves more action, intrigue and adventure. I think this series is appropriate for older children, although there are people killed by swords, and blood appears in a cartoony way, but it teaches good morals and offers lessons in being strong and kind. (You don't get much morality in modern American cartoons...) If you like classic samurai movies, you will like this. It's quite thoughtful. But be careful where and how you buy this multi-dvd set, because mine largely fell out of the case when opened, and won't fix on their little holders, and two out of eight so far either won't play or are a struggle and freeze up. It's worth any difficulty though. I'm going to buy it again until I get a workable set! Very bad production quality on this!』 『Studio: Media Blasters Inc. Release Date: 01/17/2006』 『The 34 episodes in this eight-disc set make up the "Kyoto" arc of the popular martial arts adventure-comedy. The tone of the narrative has darkened since the introductory story (Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai). When the forces of the Tokugawa Shogunate were defeated by the Imperialists 10 years earlier, Kenshin Himura abandoned his identity as Battousai the Manslayer. Makoto Shishio succeeded him as the country's deadliest assassin. Government agents captured Shishio, and although he survived a botched execution, an attempt to incinerate his body left him hideously scarred. Shishio has assembled a private army to overthrow the Meiji government and make himself ruler of Japan. Can Kenshin keep his oath never to kill again, or must he once again become a murderer to prevent a civil war? Kenshin's internal struggle is complicated by Seiko, his arrogant formersensei; Aoshi, the ex-commander of the Oniwaban; and Saito, a police officer who may be a friend, rival, and/or enemy. The drama and violence are played against the broad comedy of the cast of friends Kenshin made in Tokyo in the previous continuity: Kaoru, Yahiko, Sanosuke, Megumi. Yahiko tries to emulate Kenshin, clobbering an opponent as he shouts, "Hiten Mitsurugistyle--or close to it, anyway!"
Director Kazuhiro Furuhashi stages the sword fights and martial arts duels with panache, using rapid cutting, split-screen, and reversed colors to heighten the excitement. But the filmmakers stress that the spiritual aspects of the samurai tradition ofbushidooutweigh mere physical skills. Kenshin's inner nobility triumphs over Shishio's commitment to a misguided social Darwinism. The emphasis on internal conflict demands nuanced performances from the vocal cast. As Kenshin, Richard Hayworth finds subtle transitions between the warm, slightly goofy Kenshin and the implacable warrior who once terrified Kyoto. This depth and complexity of characterization givesRurouni Kenshina resonance lacking in animation that pits blandly virtuous heroes against cackling villains. TheLegend of Kyotoset makes it clear whyRurouni Kenshinremains one of the best-loved anime continuities of all time. (Rated 13 and older: violence, alcohol and tobacco use)--Charles Solomon』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Sword of peace) 『Picture this: a feminine-looking, goofy swordsman who has vowed not to kill, but is secretly a lethal ex-assassin known as Battosai the Manslayer.
Yep, the title character of Nobuhiro Watsuki's "Rurouni Kenshin" is a pretty unusual lead for an action series, but then this series is really rather unusual -- a meditation on changing times, and on fighting to preserve peace and life rather than to bring death. "Rurouni Kenshin - Season One" is a brilliant combination of sword-swinging action, delightfully wacky humor and a teeny hint of romance. Okay, more than a hint.
Searching for the legendary manslayer Battosai, a young dojo owner named Kaoru assaults a sword-carrying stranger whom she assumes is the one she's searching for. Turns out his sword blade is upside-down, and he insists that he's just a wandering swordsman who won't kill anybody. Unfortunately someone using the name Battosai is disgracing Kaoru's dojo -- and they have their eyes on revenge for an old wrong.
It's only then that the mysterious Kenshin shows what he's really capable of, and who he really is -- the true Battosai. Kaoru asks him to stay on, and they're soon joined by Yahiko and Sanosuke, a teenage ex-pickpocket and a young "fight merchant."
Among the other problems: a corrupt assassin who is murdering officials, corrupt police, a bogus faith healer, a sumo wrestler being bullied by his peers, a teacher being forced to take up his sword again, a band of treacherous pirates who capture Kenshin, train robberies, circus sabotage, an old friend of Sano's who is bent on vengance, and a fanatical swordsman who wants to make a warrior kingdom. On the grimmest note, they clash with an amoral businessman who is forcing a young doctor to create a super-potent opium... and has hired the Oniwaban Group (ninjas) to enforce his will.
Based on Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga, "Rurouni Kenshin" has become a classic for its story about overcoming the past, fighting for the sake of peace, and for the setting of the early Meiji era -- when Japan awkwardly leapt forward technologically and socially. But on a less epic scale, it's about one young man with a terrible and bloody past, who is now atoning for his past deeds by using his sword to protect instead of to destroy.
The first season starts off fairly light-hearted, but gradually gains some darker shadings (the whole opium subplot) and explores the sociopolitical corruption and strife of all these sweeping changes (Sanosuke's tragic captain Sagara). And obviously any series with a swordsman is going to have some action, and these scenes deliver a whirlwind of sword blows and superhuman leaps, which can do anything from smashing an opponent's arm to hammering a crowd of people to the ground.
But there's also plenty of comic relief in here, usually supplied by Kaoru's short fuse (and her perpetual spats with Yahiko and Sano), and Kenshin's sheepish space-cadet attitude and tendency to get in trouble by doing the right thing.
Kenshin is a lovable, rather odd hero -- he's goofy, spacey, eager to please and polite to a fault, with rumpled red hair and threadbare clothes. But when he fights seriously, he gets creepy empty eyes. Kaoru is blunt and strong-willed but also quite kind, while Yahiko is a sharp-tongued, good-hearted kid. And Sanosuke makes a good addition to round out the cast -- he's got a tragic past as part of the unjustly-maligned Sekihotai "false army," but with Kenshin's influence he begins to move on.
The first season of "Rurouni Kenshin" is a mixture of more lighthearted filler and darker, bloodier arcs from Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga. A brilliant classic anime.』

(DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!) 『i jus finished watching the first season and all i feel is disappointment...the storyline was good, but the action, as little as there was, was awful and it was not as exciting as everyone says it is...it is childish and boring...i recommend to jus watch the ova's, they are awesome and extremely action packed...so pretty much jus save your money and use on a series worth watching...like full metal alchemist or bleach....』
(Product review) 『Nice sturdy, hard plastic packaging (not a paper box like most others)
Fullscreen picture (unlike the usual widescreen format of other anime dvds)
It has both Japanese and English Audio, with optional english subtitles.
The 6 disks are NOT numbered, but you can sortof tell by the positioning of the disks in the box. There is also a tital on each disk to give you a rough idea of what's on it.
The story has a pretty good conclusion (for season 1) it doesn't leave on a cliffhanger.. although there is more to the story and it shows that.』
(A good series, for a good price.) 『...Although when I bought it, the price was much higher.
To tell the truth, almost eighty percent of my admiration for the Rurouni Kenshin anime centers on season two. But season one is a fun series of episodic adventures that adequately introduces the characters and themes that the second season's epic story arc centers on, and watching it will help you appreciate that second season all the more.
My biggest complaint with this season is that the artwork and animation tends to be somewhat lackluster, especially early on, which is a shame when you consider that one of the highest points to the source manga is its fantastic artwork.
That said, many of the story arcs that appear in the manga have their events and even character motivations greatly altered for the anime, something that may be consider either a positive or a negative. While in some cases I consider the manga rendition more pleasantly down-to-earth, the anime holds its own in the storytelling department and offers a refreshing alternative take on the stories that keeps reading the manga *and* watching the anime from being terribly redundant. Of particular note are the first episode and the late-season Raijuta story-arc, both of which are almost completely different from the manga originals.
There are also a fair number of extra filler episodes, most of which occurs in the time between the "Megumi" story arc and the "Raijuta" story arc. They're fun episodes and give a little character development to some of the supporting cast, but don't really lend much to overall theme or plot.
While nowhere near the best anime out there, season one of Rurouni Kenshin is a charming and entertaining choice. It was an especially nostalgic experience for me, as I remember watching this show back when it showed on Toonami (you know, when Cartoon Network was actually decent). I recommend it to any anime fan who doesn't have a better anime series to blow money on at the moment.
A few gripes, though. First off, there's no indication on the disc labels as to what order they should be viewed in--no numbers, just the titles of the individual DVD releases the collection contains. This shouldn't be a problem unless you're stupid enough to take more than one disc out of the case at once for no reason at all. Also, I found it jarring how they just stopped using the English versions of the opening and closing songs for no discernible reason about three-quarters through the season, reverting to subtitled versions of the original Japanese songs. It's a shame, 'cause I think the English versions actually sound better--but that's just me.』 『Studio: Media Blasters Inc. Release Date: 10/23/2009』

I saw a few of the episodes about six years ago and just couldn't pass this opportunity up. I must say that I still LOVE it. The action is well-choreographed and there is good meat to the storyline. None of the characters just hang out in the background while others bask in the glory. Each character has their own past(some grittier than others)demons to deal with. Each character grows throughout the series instead of remaining stagnant.
My family (who aren't anime buffs like myself)actually watched this show with me for the two days it took us to finish it. So if you like samurais, kick butt action, and a deep storyline, and well dimensioned characters purchase this boxed set. You won't regret it.』
(A decent series, but not worth keeping...) 『At the time, I purchased this anime set because I was just getting into anime, and a friend recommended getting this series. Samurai 7, very briefly, is about a group of villagers who go to the city to recruit seven samurai to help the villagers rebel against the Nobuseri. Obviously there is more to it than that, but that's what the series is based on. I didn't want to get into a lot of the storyline, or what this series is actually based off of, because a lot of other reviewers have already hit those areas. Instead I want to focus on the things that I liked and disliked in this series.
By far the graphics and the music is what makes this anime awesome. Some of the fight scenes are just ridiculously beautiful looking. I am not sure if it CGI or not, but the series is worth watching just for its breath taking fight scenes. The music is well orchestrated and flows just as beautifully well with the amazing picture. The story is pretty solid, though I was surprised at how they could stretch it out that long. This anime could have ended with a lot fewer episodes, but then it wouldn't have been as good. After a while some of the episodes become dry and boring, and you can tell where the storyline is going. It's obvious that the creators wanted the series to go longer, and thus its gets dull at parts.
That is my main beef with this series, and my other beef is with the characters and character development. Some of the characters are awesome and their development over the series gets better as it goes on. Kambei for example is just all around the likeable aged hero, and Katsushiro, as the series progresses, goes from being a dolt to a great warrior. But some of the characters are downright annoying. Kikuchiyo the cyborg has some pretty silly one-liners. And some of the other seven warriors aren't even in the series that much!
All in all, this anime is pretty decent. The storyline is very one sided, and the fact that it gets stretched over 26 episodes makes the anime seem boring at times. The characters could have been done better as well. However, the amazing drawing and battle scenes really make up for the depressing parts of the series. Honestly, I would say rent or buy this cheap, because there is a lot of hype behind this series, but at $25, that's not a bad price. I am going to get rid of my copy, just because I can never actually see myself watching it again. 』
(Loved it!) 『A great copy of the series. Wonderful story with a few surprises. DVD quality was great. Played like a charm.』
(samuri and robots) 『Overall it was a relatively good series. I've seen better. The animation was fine and so was the character development as far as episodic anime goes. However some of the characters abilities were a bit to 'unbelievable' especially in the beginning where you see Kambe make a clean slice completely through an entire floating city. There was no explanation of this ability other than that 'they were samurai'. Also it seemed way to easy for them to dismember huge mechanized samurai called 'bandits', it just was a "what's going on" moment in the series.
There was a single episode where the first half was VERY badly animated in a completely different style. I'm amusing that the studio was having employment problems; and allowed an assistant to conduct the entire scene.
In the end however you become accustomed to the small oddities and get more into the story. Sadly characters die that you don't expect will, and the ones you think would die end up living. That perhaps was a nice twist on conventional samurai storytelling.』
(One of the best I have ever seen) 『I watched the anime Samurai 7 long time ago !!! One of my real favorites. The fighting scenes are awesome , the characters close to Kurosawas movie ! I`m happy I could buy now the complete box set.』 『The Viridian Collection contains all 7 volumes of the series inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.
Samurai 7 is set in a futuristic world that has just seen the end of a massive war, many villages are being terrorized by Nobuseri bandits. The Nobuseri are no normal bandits. They were once men, but during the war they modifed themselves with machines to become living weapons and now apprear as more machine than man. A group of villagers decide to hire samurai to protect their village. These men of valor are as skilled as they are unique.』
