I BEG YOU!) 『what the hell is wrong with you people giving this a 5 star review!!! you guys are kidding yourselves seriously!! i loved this series i really did. i made it apoint to hold out on watching this series too fast because i felt it was so great. i bought one volume every two years just to savor it!!!!! so when it was time to watch the final volume i was pumped and excited my heart was racing, then all of a sudden it ended! WHAT THE HELL!!! why in the world would you end a series with Caska being raped!!! i was so captivated, then all of a sudden the credits roll and i'm like "thats it"!!! this is not to say that the episodes aren't good, they are excellent and pulse pounding but to end it with no conclusion or climax is ridiculous!!! THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THE FIRST EPISODE THE LAST EPISODE AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SINCE THE SERIES IS A FLASHBACK ANYWAY!!! think about it, we see caska getting raped then Gutts screams and we fade out, to wake up to guts forging his new sword out to destroy demons. then the series ends with gutts cutting the demon servent in half and walking into the flames. BAM! THE PERFECT ENDING RIGHT? why in the hell did they make the first episode the aftermath of the last?!! who in the hell thought it be a good idea to have the final image being caska being raped?! if you are planning on watching this series SAVE THE FIRST EPISODE FOR THE CONCLUSION, I BEG YOU!!!! SKIP THE FIRST EPISODE PLEASE!!! YOU DON'T MISS ANYTHING AND YOU'LL THANK ME ONCE YOU COME TO THE LAST EPISODE AND IMMEDIATELY FEEL THE URGE TO POP IN THAT FIRST EPISODE AND SEE WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!!! AFTER THAT YOU'LL WANT TO EMAIL ME PERSONALLY AND THANK ME!! whoever made the decision to end the show like this needs to be shot. and we'll never truely know how Gutts made it out of hell...the episodes are great but as a conclusion, this is horrible unless you watch the first epidode immediately after the last.』
(goodness in a box) 『I r going to use teh least amount of letter possible. oops, to late lol. I have to say that this story is pretty Fn cool. You are soo gonna love the hero! His name is just so stupid it works. And Mr. Man rocks the house in bloodshed and strong silent emotion. Totaly an epic asp adventure that should be watched at least once. The ending is crazy! FYI, I have to say that I loved the outtakes on this one!』
(best thing ive ever seen) 『this is the best anime ive seen in years, you would be smart to buy it』
(Berserk - Anime Classic) 『Berserk is probably far from the prettiest video quality on this DVD that claims to be "remastered". But that doesn't really matter this anime is by far one of the greatest ever made. The story combined with great music pulls you right in and doesn't let go. while incoherent at times it more then makes up for it in every other aspect. if you like action and great story this is a must buy. Don't forget to watch the outtakes some of them are actually pretty funny. others pretty lame.』
(A must have) 『Berserk is the greatest anime of our time. An incredible story, action, and Kentaro Miura's artwork blend seamlessly to create a world that pulls you in and never lets go.
If you are a fan of anime, you need to own this series. The packaging and new cd artwork are a very nice touch as opposed to the other releases of the series. I did not notice a huge difference in the "remastered" version besides the original Japanese text in the beginning and end credits. Although, for some reason, the screen almost seemed to have a slight shakiness in the previous releases of the series. Whenever a scene change happened, I noticed a slight "bump" in the picture. That problem seemed to have been fixed in this release. The music seems more... full and robust in this version. The music in this series is a powerful accent to the already captivating whole of the series, so I found the slight music enhancements (they are very subtle) in this release to be a nice touch.
*If you own Berserk already, don't buy this unless you are a collector. *If you do NOT own this anime, put everything else in your budget aside and buy this as soon as possible. Tell your friends! Heck, maybe your Mom might enjoy it! :D
There are plenty of reviews on the internet as to the content of the anime series and the manga (which is HIGHLY recommended!!)if you are wondering what Berserk is about. The price and packaging are definitely worth the time and money, and this series alone will guarantee personal satisfaction.』 『The entire Anime legend, Berserk, in one collection. Completely remastered, every bloody battle and brutal strike like they've never been seen before. In the castle town of Midland, a new king has come to power through treachery and violence. His demonic agents victimize the citizens, until one night a mysterious warrior comes to destroy them. Known as the Black Swordsman, he has an unrelenting grudge against the king. The problems 1. It is twice as expensive as the other seasons 2. It is short, only 18 or so episodes 3. It is all fillers 4. They really don't even seem like good fillers- I didn't learn any more about the characters 5. There is nothing in the fillers that even really relates to the main plot- Everything that is "new" in this entire season is revealed in the first minute of season 5.
So... if you have plenty of money and time to just be occupied, there's nothing wrong with this. But for twice the price, just buy season 5&6 and use the money and time you would have wasted to do something more enjoyable- you won't miss anything from the story.
Of course, I would have bought it anyway, even if someone had warned me about how lame this season is... but I probably would have bought a used version to save on the cost. If it had cost half as much as the other seasons and not more, I would not have felt so disappointed. 』
(A Nice Filler Season Of The Series But Don't Expect Naraku To Show) 『This was the only season of Inu Yasha That apparently didn't have anything episodes of Naraku but more with seemingly filler episodes of the groups quest to find Naraku after his disappearance. Don't let that discourage you though the episodes are still entertaining to watch as you see Inu yasha and the gang try and find clues on Naraku's whereabouts and during their travels confront demons no longer afraid to show themselves since Naraku isn't around to absorb or destroy them, also you'll have the usual minor villains around trying to do their own vile plans that the hero's must defeat. The animation is clean and clear with no complaints and as always the voice actors/actresses for both the Japanese and English cast did great, the only thing I can find some fault in is the price I got this when it was on sale at a lower price and since I already had two dvds of the season I felt that it was a pretty good deal instead of buying the rest of the season one dvd at a time. Some friends and people have asked is there a difference in video quality or audio with these box sets than the single dvds they've already bought?, and for that I would say no the video and audio are pretty much the same except that as expected the dvds of the box sets have more episodes on their dvds than the single dvds you separately. So if you've already got this season on dvd than pass this set over there won't be much difference and it will just be a waste of money, but if you've only bought one or two dvds or haven't gotten this season at all yet than of course get it and while you won't see Naraku the enjoyment of the episodes will more than make up for it...』
(A fan of the series...) 『Okay. First this series is certainly not worth $100 or even close to it, so try to get it 50% off at least. I am a HUGE fan of the series and especially of Sesshomaru. These episodes are still good even with being filler episodes. Jeesh people. Yes they are fillers, but where is the problem with that? Is more episodes of Inuyasha that bad? Not for me. I absolutely love it. The producers of the Inuyasha series simply started early and caught up too fast with Inuyasha's creator Rumiko Takahashi. So, they had to do some improvising and instead of waiting for her to get further enough along, they created fillers. This is the same thing that happened with season 7, but they decided not to make another season full of fillers, so they dropped it. Now, answer me this: Would you have preferred them to drop it after Season 3. I certainly wouldn't and I really wished that they would have gone ahead and made another season after 7 of fillers instead of dropping it. Besides, this isn't a bad season IF you like the show. Believe me this is a good season. I love Jaken Falls Ill. It is so funny. Take it from me. It is worth the buy, but not for full price. Inuyasha - Season 4 Box Set』
(Not as good as the previous seasons but it is still awesome!) 『This season was pretty good! But, there is not as much action in it as the others had but its still one of my favorite seasons because there are a lot of hilarious episodes in this that make me and my best friend laugh OUT loud! But there are serious episodes in this too!
This season is about how modern-day schoolgirl Kagome and half- demon Inuyasha and friends continue their quest through fuedal-era japan to find and vanquish the evil demon Naraku and gather all the shards of the Shikon Jewel. Along the way, they are befriended and bedeviled by an array of characters: Koga of the wolf demon tribe, mischievous magic- wielding monkey sprites, and an old lady exorcist of questionable abilities. SEE! it is a good season!
This box set has: the 18 episodes of inuyasha season 4, stereo, bilingual (japanese&english), english subtitles, scene-access menu, inuyasha character introduction, and the textless opening and ending.
GREAT SEASON! You have to add this to your collection!』
(Personally, I like the Off-Topic, Lighter Episodes) 『Alright, let me start off by saying:
I bought this DVD set from Best Buy, and paid... I think 95.00 for it. BUT.. i thought it was because it came with "Miroku's Prayer Beads" A little re-creation of the beads Miroku wears around his right arm. They were fun to play with, and if I bought them, I would have paid 12.00 for them... so all in all, i didn't feel too jipped by the price of this season.
Anywhoo.. I saw a lot of negative complaints about this season, and here are my thoughts:
Yes, this Set contains about 18 episodes or so. This was the biggest dissapointment to me BECAUSE.. the bulk of the episodes were really light-hearted and silly. In most of the seasons i feel i HAVE to watch episode after episode because they end so abruptly, in the middle of a fight. These episodes stand alone very well, and there were no Naraku heavy episodes (since he was in hiding). The reason this is my favorite season is because of that. I wish it was a longer season, but im glad that the episodes weren't all linked together to the point where you have to keep watching and watching.
Long story short:
- If you wanted a LOT of episodes for your money, you will be dissapointed. - If you like episodes that are more up-beat, cute/silly, or back in the "present" time, this is a great set for you!
I love my prayer beads though... i've not seen any others for sale, so im wondering why I got some on my Season 4 set o_o; Maybe it was Viz's way of making up for the lack of episodes, lol!』 『Come along for a timeless adventure in season four ofINUYASHA! Modern-day schoolgirl Kagome and half-demon Inuyasha and friends continue their quest through feudal-era Japan to find and vanquish the evil demon Naraku and gather all the shards of the Shikon Jewel. Along the way, they are befriended and bedeviled by an array of characters: Koga of the wolf-demon tribe, mischievous magic-wielding monkey sprites, and an old-lady exorcist of questionable abilities.
Bilingual: English dub and Japanese with English subtitles.
Clean opening and ending.
Special footage (20-25 mins.)』
『As Rumiko Takahashi's "Feudal Fairy Tale" continues, the main storyline about recapturing the fragments of the Shikkon Jewel recedes and shorter adventures come to the fore. At the end of season 3, Inu-Yasha destroyed the magical barrier protecting his enemy Naraku: the evil demon fled, leaving no trail. Naraku's absence allows dozens of minor demons to emerge from hiding and cause problems that Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Inu-Yasha must undo. An eccentric exorcist tangles with Miroku and the imprisoned spirit of a lovely princess; the demon Orchidayu creates fake Shikkon Jewels in an effort to strengthen his servants. Some of the adventures take a comic turn. When Kagome's younger brother develops his first crush on a classmate, he asks Inu-Yasha's advice about how to approach the girl. (Asking the terminally insensitive Inu-Yasha for romantic advice is about as sensible as asking a vegetarian how to cook a pot roast.) A shape-shifting raccoon spirit impersonates Miroku so accurately, he gets the lecherous monk in trouble with the women of two villages. By this point, the characters inInu-Yashahave become so familiar, their antics feel entertaining even when they don't really advance the plot. Although this package is labelledFourth Season Box Set, the opening animation and song change after episode 95, suggesting there's some overlap. TheDeluxe Edition(ASIN# ) includes a model of Miroku's prayer beads (a Buddhist rosary) in aqua plastic. (Rated Teen: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery)--Charles Solomon』

(Naruto Uncut Box Set 14) 『Naruto Uncut Box Set 14 I am very pleased with my purchase. I got my order fast and on time』
(The long Journey before it picks up again) 『Well what can we say, it's Naruto fillers. It is a great pick to complete the library if you can stomach the lack of cohesiveness in the storyline. It is basically missions after mission that does not relate to the main story arc. The lack of continuity is apparent, however; there are some redeeming qualities. I enjoyed the Star village filler as well as the Princes story arc. The story in themselves can be funny at times, as well as interesting. Just be patient with this anime, trust me when the main storyline picks up in Naruto Shippuuden you will not be disappointed. Though Shippuuden will contain fillers, I believe the writers of Naruto learned their lesson from this regular series. That is, they blended the fillers with the main story arc, making the Shippuuden series flow alongside the main story arc. They did the right thing in Shippuuden. However; with this series (Regular Naruto), you are gonna get 100+ unrelated fillers until the series goes Shippuuden. Great buy for those who wish to have a complete collection, but if you cannot stomach the fillers, best skip and wait for Shippuuden to be released. As far as DVD quality, it's great quality, offering both Eng/Jap lang and subtitles. Also it comes with a few more game cards to add to your player deck.』
(Team Gai And Naruto Come To The Rescue Again With The Beginning Of This Box Set) 『Right off the bat Naruto's next mission(After bribing Grandma Tsunade) teams him up with Tenten and Neji to help protect a small ninja village called the star village and their special treasure. The star village has a special meteor that gives increased chakra and even unusual chakra abilities to people who drain the chakra from the meteor, but it also comes with a very heavy price using the meteor's chakra energies eventually leads to the users death, which has caused a division in the star village between those who wish to stop using the meteors energies and those who feel there's no other choice. After this saga we have Naruto battling another personal problem as he unwittingly becomes the adopted mother to a formerly legendary creature known as the Unba(At least that's how it sounds like). Than we have Naruto teaming up with Shino of all people to go to a funeral where Shino will as act as the substitute mourner of the person that's hired them, the reason is that if the chief mourner laughs at the funeral he will loose all the lands that his father will bequeath to him but the will allows a substitute mourner to be in his place, thus Shino is giving the job but like most missions with Naruto somethings bound to happen to mess with the plan. The last few episodes deal with the missing feudal lords daughter from the lands of greens which has been taking over by a band of rogue ninja trying to become feudal lords themselves, the feudal lords daughter flees and tries to regroup and find volunteers to reclaim her lands. This mission saga-arc I felt were the only ones in the series that Naruto just should have let the spoiled lords daughter just die she's so unlikable I just had no sympathy for her and her attitude, but like Naruto usually does with his usual determination and his sense of ninja way and own morality that won't let him abandon her. The video is of course clear and sharp and as always the voice cast both Japanese/English did a great job for their character roles. So for hardcore fans rejoice as we come closer to the Shippuden series and for all fans here comes another great box set at a great price for your anime library....』
(Not the same Naruto anymore) 『Man!! After the Saskue/Naruto fight, Naruto has really dropped the ball. It just isn't the same anymore. When naruto first came on, it was like, you were glued to the TV (am I wrong?). Now it's just a bunch of filler episodes, and whats up with naruto using the rasengan in almost every episode? Because of that it just isn't that cool a move anymore. You didn't see Goku using Kamehameha every Godd**n episode!!』 『The ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village are summoned on a mission to the Land of Stars, where a meteorite with incredible powers has been stolen! Naruto and the others begin to suspect it was an inside job when they learn that the ninja who stole the star used a special ninjutsu known only to the Star Village. Then, Choji, Hinata and Naruto set out for the Land of Greens to protect a group of merchants, one of whom turns out to be a princess! When Hinata is threatened by an evil ninja to reveal the princess's whereabouts or Naruto will be hurt, will she choose to save a princess or the boy she loves?!』

(No holds barred Japanese #1 anime) 『The first time I watched this anime I had difficulty figuring out how to get it to play and was also shocked by the outrageous cruelty. I eventually, after the third time watching it became adept at mastering the video controls and a greater understanding of the anime. The world of humans became callous and mean spirited and nature fought back by producing a new species whose purpose was to destroy the human race and take over. The new species however had the same flaws as the humans and the conflict between humans and the new species resulted in a twisted ending short of providing a clear understanding. I guess its up to the viewer to decide what happened next. I recommend this movie for everyone -- you'll either love it, hate it or be completely confused by it. You may want to review it first so you can decide whether or not other members of the family should watch it.』
(All boobs no brain.) 『No, cousin, I don't want to fondle your breast.
That pretty much sums up my feelings for this show right there. Elfen Lied, despite what so many sappy, shallow people would tell you, is nowhere NEAR a masterpiece; I wouldn't even go so far as to call it good. It is, for all intents and purposes, a woefully inadequate attempt at a drama which falls far short of tragedy greats in anime such as Grave of the Fireflies (2-Disc Collector's Edition), Kino's Journey - The Complete Collection, Now and Then, Here and There (Complete Collector's Boxed Set), and yes Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Collection. It is an ant amongst giants. Fans of the series will point to the many instances of drama and "tear jerking moments" as proof that there is substance of any kind to be found here, but they would be wrong. Instead of coming off as depressing, the more appalling moments in this show come across as more disgusting than anything else. Whereas moments in shows like "Now and Then, Here and There" and EVA showed tragedy in ways which were designed to not only depress its viewers but also leave them with "heartbreaking fondness;" Elfen Lied simply wants to gross you out as much as humanly possible.
Just about every moment of this show is saturated with fan service almost to the point, no, take that back, TO the point of absurdity. Some fan service here and there is okay, I don't really like it but its fine, but THIS MUCH!? How many times do I have to see Lucy (or Nyu, which is her alter ego) shamble around on screen wearing nothing but socks? How many times must I have to see Mayu (who's 13 BTW) take a bath with Nanna (who is also 13)? Nothing makes you feel like a pervert more than watching a couple 13 year olds take a bath together for ten minutes. Am I supposed to watch or should I look away?
The show starts off with a ten minute bloodbath as a naked Lucy strolls though the hulls of a heavenly protected government research lab killing literally hundreds of well armed soldiers and guards (and one very unfortunate, very clumsy secretary). She manages to escape but is shot in the head, which then causes her to lose her memory. Washing up on a nearby beach the next morning (naked, as always) she is taken in by a pair of well meaning college students (who only go to class once during the series; I guess class attendance isn't really a top priority in Japan), Kohta and Yuka. Now let's play a little game; you see a naked, clearly mentally ill girl wash up on the beach without the ability to speak. Do you... A) Call the police. B) Give her some food and cloths and THEN call the police. Or would you... C) Take said naked girl home with you and NOT tell anyone.
If you said A or B then TADA! You're a normal person. If you said C then you are a character in Elfen Lied. YEAH! I know anime isn't a genre where characters always act and talk like real people, but COME ON! Who wouldn't call the police if they found a naked mentally ill girl on the beach? (Other than perverts, that is). Is it too much to expect these characters to act at least somewhat realistically?
And that's pretty much the problem with this show from beginning to end; the characters don't act like real people. The love triangle that's started up between Nyu (Lucy), Kohta, and Yuka, I guess to add a second layer of "depth" to the story (you know, give it something other than the whole naked girls killing lots and lots of people) comes off as more of a soap opera than anything else. What person actually asks their first cousin to fondle their breast? YUCK! Every time Kohta does anything with another girl (oftentimes just helping them out) Yuka gets jealous, calls him a jerk, maybe slaps him around, and then runs off crying. Now I can sympathize to a point, but girl GET OVER YOURSELF! It isn't the end of the world if your first cousin isn't romantically interested in you.
But it isn't only that, characters who really are likable and DO have interesting back stories (Mayu for instance) are introduced, and then almost ignored. Mayu had possibly one of the saddest back stories in the whole show, and yet her past was never fleshed out or used to propel the story. I would have loved to see her run into her step father in the streets someday, or maybe she, with the help of her friends, could have tried to confront him. Although the creators of this show get props for attempting such an ambitious story, they get no credit for execution as the whole thing is more disgusting then sad and is not elaborated on during the course of the series. Mayu serves as a plot device for the rest of the series, and it is very unfortunate for the series as a whole because instead they decide to focus on Khota and Yuka who are, quite frankly, uninteresting and boring.
So now for some good stuff. The little Diclonius (the race of horned mutants of which Lucy [or Nye], and Nanna are a part) girls are SO adorable that it was almost impossible to find any fault in them, even when they went on bloody rampages and killed dozens of innocent people. All they had to do was look at the screen with those giant red eyes of theirs and cry a little bit and my heart would break for them. Who knew such sadistic killers could be so cute? Despite my trashing the linier story of this show, the back story for Lucy was actually quite stunning (if a little too convenient). The part with her dog was SO depressing I was tempted to give this show more than two stars, but alas the ending didn't give it any hope of such a high rating. My favorite part, by far, is when Lucy goes to the zoo as a child and is amazed by the size of the elephants and giraffes. "Oh, it's so big, how did it get so big?" (that's what she said) Elephant trumpet "whow, amazing!" (Just imagine this in the cutest little girl voice possible). It reminded me so much of my own childhood, going to the Omaha Zoo (one of the biggest in the country BTW) and begging my parents to let me see the elephants because they were my favorite.
Yes, I'm a sucker when it comes to little girls suffering; probably explains why my favorite shows are "Now and Then, Here and There" and "Gunslinger Girl", and if Elfen Lied had focused on this back story instead of the inane love triangle/government conspiracy nonsense it could have very well been a masterpiece. As is, with only a few episodes dedicated to back story, the show could not stand the weight of its own self importance. Nanna was also a pretty interesting character, though at the very end of the show she did get a bit annoying.
The animation for this show was actually quite good; better in fact then most anime I've seen. The backgrounds were quite stunning in their detail and the character designs were oh so cute. The music was pretty plain, although the main theme wasn't bad at all, if a little less impressive then other shows. It's the opening and ending that get on my nerves. More naked girls shuffling around while the camera zooms in on their breast. Don't believe me? It's true. The ending is some Japanese rock song with a still picture of a naked Lucy while the camera slowly zoom in on her left breast. What kind of person does it take to watch that all the way through? I wonder... maybe the same kind of person it takes to give this show a five star review.
So if you're looking for tragedy, look elsewhere at the shows I've already mentioned. Elfen Lied is nothing special, that is unless you're looking for underage girls taking baths together, in which case I'd suggest you turn yourself in to your local authorities and get immediate psychiatric help. Good night. 』
(A great love story that you will never forget) 『I have seen a variety of different anime story styles from school life stories to sci-fi ,but this one was by far ahead of most of them for its great story ,and animation. It is fun for all ages to ,and will not disappoint any member of the family due to it having a little something for everyone. _Possible Spoilers_Ok with out giving the whole story away the general plot goes like this A boy ,and a girl meet as children they become very close ,but the boy has to go back home ,and they he forgets his memories of the summer they spent together. Now its been a few years ,and as the boy comes back to the town he ends up running in to her. As she tries to rekindle the relationship that they once had he is left clueless to who she is ,and her intentions. Not to mention overwhelmed by the other females that want his attention including his cousin who wants him for herself. The only other thing to note here is that the show also shows the easy life style that kids have when they are looked after by big companies. Well in conclusion do pick this up it will end up being the best purchase you could ever make.』
(Violent, but extremely entertaining) 『I have seen a lot of anime and this one was "wow". Twists, sub-stories, extreme violence, cute, funny, scary, sad, happy -- an emotional roller-coaster ride that kept me wanting more. Extremely good character and story design. Definitely for adults because of the violence and adult situations. This is a must have for any serious anime fan. I decided to order it anyway and boy am I relieved. I had no problems with any of the discs ( I use a PS3 ). I once read a review that this follows much of the same time line as many of the other Gundam series, which is not true. I think that is what makes this probably one of the best out of the entire series. 5 Heroes trying to save earth and space without asking so much as thank you in return. Pretty basic but a very well put together series.』
(Mission Incomplete) 『After much procrastination, I have in my possession the second half of the Gundam Wing anime series. Featuring the last 24 episodes on 5 discs, the show finds the rebellious Gundam pilots in a world of hurt. This time around, the Lightning Count returns unmasked! Former Oz ace Zechs Merquise now assumes the role as leader of a space uprising against the Earth. And he's packing so much heat, that even the Gundams might not be able to stop him. Nonetheless, Heero Yuy and the other pilots band together to stop what could very well be humanity's final war.
If the first half of the series left you hungry for more, then the second half doesn't disappoint. You see new faces, more high-octane action, and the one thing all Gundam fans really care about: mid-series mech upgrades! But the show suffers from the same drawbacks. The philosophical babble about war and peace perists. Relena Darlian, Heero's supposed love interest, is still going "Can't we all just get along?" But the biggest greivance, shared by many Gundam fans, is that some of DVD's in the set don't play all the featured episodes. To replace your faulty discs, contact Bandai Entertainment.
DVD features include bios and anime trailers, and the last disc includes a "Mobile Suit Encyclopedia" and textless openings/endings.
The show is rated for ages 13 and up: Violence.』
(Amazing show) 『The conclusion of one of the best animes i've seen in a while, the story is awesome, the battles are absolutely stunning and it has really good animation just go but it now.』
(The Series That Sparked My Interest.) 『Beleive Or Not Growing up&watching Toonami, Gundam Wing was the show that introduced my brother&I to the Gundam franchise, and look at us now!! We know almost everything about the sereis! I thought that human beings piloting giant coolest looking (EVER) robots was the coolest thing i've ever seen! Now Gundam Wing was always appealing to me, most notably for the gundams and their designs. Wing Zero was always to me the best looking one, with the strongest weapon (Twin Buster Rifle) that produces a shot powreful enough to destroy a whole colony. Deathsythe, comes in second, with it's stealth abilities, and those wings were the bomb growning up, and the sythe with the green laser blade just added to it all. Shenlong Gundam, was eye candy for sure with thoses loud colors, and the dragon arm extending things, those were cool. Heavy Arms, was always badass, because people gave that thing the nick name of "Weapon Of Mass Destruction" Because of it's huge arsenal of fire power at it's disposal, most notably the double gattling gun it carries on its right arm. Sandrock was.....ok. It killed alot of enemy mobile suits. Nowto the characters.
Herro Yui, 15 years old, The boy from space. Herro came off to me as one of the coolest characters i've seen seince DBZ's Goku. He was the strongest of course, and did what HE wanted to do, and always got the job done.
Duo Maxwell, also 15, the self proclaimed "God Of Death", that guy was always on my favorate anime character list. Duo was always the fiesty one, and was pretty handy in a mobile suit.

(Poor quality disks) 『The episodes all played just fine, but something is wrong with the disks themselves(bent or warped or something). They will not play in my computer and will cause the DVD player to sound like a lawn mower at certain times. Still watchable on a DVD player and a good purchase, just annoying that the disks are bent/warped and will not play on my computer.』 『Relena and Heero have come aboard the Libra in a last-ditch hope to talk some sense into Zechs, but he will not listen. Treize and his forces arrive, and Treize challenges Zechs to a one on one duel to decide the fate of the ware, but Zechs refuses, having cast aside such notions as "honor" and "chivalry". Now the immense ships Libra and Peacmillion are on a collision course with one another, and the resulting collision could destroy all life on Earth. It's up to the Gundam pilots to put an end to the fighting in this, the final volumes of Gundam Wing! Contains the final half of the epic Gundam Wing saga - over 10 hours of giant robot action. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Awesome) 『I got this for my brother for Christmas. I had seen most the series on TV. It's an awesome series, I love it.』
(Hellsing) 『the Hellsing complete boxed set arrived in a timely manner, and was well packaged. This was gotten as a Christmas present for my grandson.』
(Great, but too short) 『This was a great series. Too bad it was only one season. Ended it like they thought there was going to be a second season, and there should have been. Alucard was one of the best vampires ever, not too good and not too bad. On the side of good, but with his own set of morals. Just the way a vampire should be. Very powerful individual. Well worth watching. Not for preteens, a bit mature.』
(A Vampire series I can watch) 『Out of many Vampire series I bearably watch, Hellsing and Vampire Hunter D are the only ones that make the list. It really isn't much about the art, the story line that is great (by today's standards they are "weak"), but rather the characters that bring in some complex attitudes and feelings in this world of vampires. Alcuard, is pretty much your anti-hero; cold blooded and really doesn't care if humans die as long as he has his "fun." To him it's all about fighting the strongest of the strongest and satisfying his urge for blood. Seras Victoria the other main character on the other hand tries to fight the urges she feels to kill and maim, unlike Alcuard who follows his true feelings. Integra Hellsing, the leader of the Hellsing organization is just one tough cookie. To her killing, hunting vampires, keeping her men alive, and maintaining her family's image is much more important than anything else. As you can see Hellsing is filled with interesting characters that just completely make this a great series to watch despite the somewhat lacking storyline and decade old art. Another thing I found really well suited was the choice of using very English voices (for the dub) that, in my honest opinion, suits it very well. Heck even the crazy regenerating father had his Irish accent as well. I can say for sure this anime is a solid 4. I would not recommend this for small kids (12 and under) because it is very very violent and does have some adult situations (no nudity, but "other adult situations.") I also would recommend Hellsing ultimate, which sticks closer to the original story and IMHO, is superior to this series, but I definitely do recommend this.』
(GREAT ANIMATION - POINTLESS STORY) 『Hellising is an exciting feast for the eyes and a stunning display of animated action. It is also gratuitously bloody and rather pointless as a story. It has perhaps the most ridiculous plot I've yet seen in any anime. It simply doesn't make sense. Hellsing, apparently a secret organization formed to fight evil creatures, particularly vampires, employs one in its service. There is never any clear understanding of why a vicious brutal sadistic and very powerful vampire like Alucard ( yes... it's Dracula spelled backwards...) binds himself into the service of the Hellsing organization , or more precisely to it's attractive ( human ) female leader Integra. Somehow he was "Defeated" by Integra's ancestor Abraham Van Helsing and then "swore" service to him and his ancestors. Yet Alucard hardly seems defeated at all. Anyway, the series consists of Alucard fighting off various attempts to awaken undead monstrosities or to attack the Hellsing organization directly, engaging in battle at Integra's orders. She gives him a mission and some sort of code word as to how much force or violence he is permitted to use to complete the task. Again, VERY strange, and rather pointless. The only reason I can see why she would want Alucard to limit his attacks is to build up excitement in the series at wonderment over just how powerful he really is. And she does just that. As the series progresses Integra allows Alucard more and more leeway in the use of his powers until a final climatic battle with another very powerful vampire, when she basically orders him give it everything he's got. Ever since Bram Stoker wrote Dracula there has been an attempt to romanticize vampires as reluctant heroes tormented by the limitations of their vile existence. Looking at Alucard's power and ferocity as he fights, one can only wonder what horror would ensue if he ever decided to use his power for evil. This series is well worth watching for the beauty and detail of the animated fight sequences. They are breathtakingly fast and dramatic. The angles at which the perspective carries the viewer can only be done in animation. Just don't expect the story itself to make much sense.
- Mike S.』 『The worst enemy of the night - is one of its own…A secret war brews in the night - a war where humanity is only a pawn. The Hellsing Organization deploys in the shadows to protect the mortal world. But now, artificially spawned vampires have appeared, forcing Hellsing to call in their ultimate weapon - the rogue vampire, Arucard! After hetransforms the dying Seras Victoria into a vampire, they join forces to combat the undead army, as well as her own newfound hunger!』 『The vampire-turned-hunter sagaHellsingowes a lot to both the original and remake ofVampire Hunter D. In Britain, vampires that were artificially created by implanting chips in their necks are attacking people. Dispatching them is the job of the Royal Order of Religious Knights, headed by the icy (and apparently female) Sir Integra Hellsinger. Her chief agent, the red-clad Arucard, destroys one vampire, then turns police woman Victoria into a servant-vampire, bound to him. The outré story violates the rules of the traditional legends: vampires wear crosses, enter churches, and pose as priests; Hellsinger's mortal enemy is the Vatican's Iscariot Organization. The animation is very static, and the design style changes from character to character. Despite grotesque imagery borrowed fromNight of the Living Dead, the result is more silly than scary, and the series suffers from underdeveloped characters, a plot that is sketchy at best, a surfeit of pointless violence, and inadvertently hilarious dialogue.
In subsequent episodes, Luke and Jan, the Valentine Brothers, lay siege to the headquarters of the Hellsing organization, the Royal Order of Religious Knights. After numerous humans have been killed and eaten by an army of ghouls, Sir Integra Hellsinger, Arucard, and Seras must hunt down the perpetrators. Not surprisingly, the finale is elaborate, violent, and inconclusive. The closing titles announce that the search for the creators of the artificial vampires continues, so a sequel may be in the works. The first and second discs contain four episodes, and the third disc contains five episodes and the special features. The focus of this box set is Naruto's training with Jiraiya (one of the legendary Sannin), and the beginning of the final round of the Chunin exam.
The first extra on this set is labeled as "Production Art." This consists of ten pages, and all ten pages are model sketches of the Naruto characters that appear in this box set. There is also "From Sketch to Screen," which contains eight pages of storyboards from episode fifty-six. For each storyboard, you can choose to see the clip that the storyboard is for. You can also see the English credits in the "Extras" menu. While it's still the credits without any background music, there is at least a different background image being used this time.
There is a sneak preview of Naruto Uncut Box Set 6, which runs for about three-and-a-half minutes. A link labeled as "Trailers" is a link to four trailers. The link labeled as "Manga" takes you to three advertisements for Shonen Jump magazine and Shonen Jump manga titles.
Again it's disappointing, but not unexpected, that the special features on this set are virtually identical to the special features on the first four DVD box sets. I still hope that on a future volume of the Naruto DVD box sets, that Viz Media will put a lot more effort into the special features. However, if you're a Naruto fan that wants to collect all of the episodes on DVD, then the Naruto Uncut Box Set 5 would be a good addition to your DVD library.
In order to write this review, I checked out a copy of this DVD box set through the King County Library System.』
(naruto v5) 『this was our first uncut volume set. we like it so much we have gotten 2 more to add to our collection.』
(Almost perfect) 『The only reason i did not give him a 5 was i had a hard time getting my merchandise on time but it was only 2 days late. Otherwise, and it was around the Thanksgiving holiday and i do realize that was out of his control. He was very good but there was a ripe in the bottom of the package also. Not sure if the post office did this or distribution. But all in all my son will be very happy christmas morning and that is all that i wanted in the first place.』
(The beginning of the final round/Naruto, Neji&Shikamaru) 『Uncut Volume 5's regular edition starts off mostly as a training arc, with everyone recovering or suffering from the effects of the preliminaries and some training for their next opponent. Much of this focuses on Naruto and a new very important character, Jiraiya. This perverted old man is actually a link to Naruto's past, and once convinced begins to train Naruto to control the Nine-Tail's chakra within him. There is some more character development, especially for the mysterious Gaara, who could definitely use it, and Neji.
The rest of the box set focuses on the final round matches between Naruto and Neji, and Temari and Shikamaru. One is a pound it out battle between opposing skill sets and ideals and one battle is chess match between two tactitians. Both of these serve to be quite entertaining, but through out the matches you still anxiously wait for the battle between Gaara and Sasuke. Which unfortunately, you'll have to wait until Volume 6 (Naruto Uncut Boxed Set, Volume 6) for.
This volume is the usual high quality release of the series, with a good amount of comedy, character development and action. It comes with the usual set of 3 discs and the storyboard booklet for a very nice price. I definitely recommend it.』

With the final round of the Chunin Exam only a month away, Naruto receives some special training from Jiraiya, one of the three legendary Sannin, to summon and master the chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit within him. Can Naruto turn this dangerous force into a strength and overcome the odds, against the formidable Neji?! Meanwhile, a dark plan that affects the fate of the Hidden Leaf Village begins to reveal itself as the much-anticipated match between Sasuke and Gaara draws near!』 『The Chunin Exams enter their final round as the popular fantasy-adventureNarutocontinues. The arrival of Jiraiya, the lecherous arch-ninja known as The Sage of Toad-Mountain interrupts Naruto's intensive training regimen. Jiraiya wants to ogle the local girls, but Naruto wheedles and fusses until the Sage agrees to teach him the powerful jutsu used to summon a monster toad. His first efforts are unimpressive: All he can conjure is a tadpole. But Jiraiya's instruction enables Naruto to tap into the extraordinary spiritual power of the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon imprisoned within his body. Drawing on this energy, Naruto defeats Neiji, avenging his cruel treatment of the gentle Hinata. But more serious matters overshadow Naruto's match: Sasuke vanishes from the hospital and everyone fears Orochimaru may be involved. Or is Sasuke's disappearance linked to a plot by the leaders of the Sand and Wind Villages to break the peace treaty among ninja and destroy the Hidden Leaf Village? At the center of this intrigue is the highly anticipated face-off between Sasuke and Gaara, the murderous psychotic who fights with enchanted sand. Sasuke arrives just as the match is slated to begin, and the collection ends on a cliff-hanger. The filmmakers also provide plenty of slapstick, ramen dinners, jutsu, and cartoony tantrums thatNarutofans expect. The sellers I have used have been awesome, no problems with anything I have bought so far.

(Gaara, you don't look so good) 『After seeing this volume of Naruto and seeing Gaara's true form. I would be very inclined to leave this guy the hell alone if at all possible. Anyone that claims their only purpose in life or sense of fulfillment is to kill. They need a WHOLE lot of alone time and a nice little spot in hell all by themselves. Gaara's gone through some major trauma in his childhood and while i feel for him. He has an evil sand spirit inside of him that will eventually take him over. He was shunned and belittled all the time when he was a little kid.
Yes it sucks and its sad, but others have gone through that in the show like (Naruto) for example and has the Nine Tail Fox spirit inside of him and went through the same stuff. The difference being he knows that with his friends and loved ones he can and will accomplish almost anything he wants. You aren't stronger by yourself or just caring for yourself and no one else thats a lonely way of life that Gaara clings to. He soon finds out that through those friends that he will never. That they give you something more to fight for which makes you more powerful than he could ever dream of.
With that being said him and Sasuke have their day of battle at the Exam but it is put on hold after the Hidden Leaf village is attacked in a well coordinated and planned move by Orochimaru (former student) to the current Hokage. Who's just as wacked out on crazy as Gaara plus a little bit more (experimenting on people even your own). Hokage is kidnapped by him and they are in their battle for their very lives. Several other battles are taking place between other students in the Exam as well. Plus a well times reentry by everyone's favorite "Pervy Sage" as Naruto so nicely puts it as well.
It makes for one excellent Volume 6 of this popular and still growing Anime series. Naruto is something that anyone can pretty much get into and while it looks mild in action. It isnt really something for kids to be watching unless your watching the version of it on Cartoon Network which is pretty mild. While compared to this Uncut version at least.
I look forward to the next volume as Naruto steps in when Sasuke is running on empty and Sakura is in danger (again..:). He faces off with Gaara and shows more promise than anyone ever thought he could possibly have.
It's a series that needs to be looked at from the beginning and believe it. You'll get into it like so many others already have.』
(Naruto = DBZ) 『I've loved the Naruto series up until this point in Volume 6. The constant repeats of scenes from previous episodes get a bit excessive and the non-stop chatter between characters doing the same exact thing several minutes ago (aka the Third Hokage is pulling out Orochimaru's soul scene). I wished the dvds had the option of removing the annoying "extra" scenes and stick with the manga-style storyline. Because of this, Naruto episodes are beginning to become Dragon Ball Z episodes where we're blasted with Gohan and the others screaming at the top of their lungs for the entire episode that is absolutely pointless and annoying.』
(good stuff) 『i have no idea about the item but what I can tell you is my husband how loved naruto Loves all the boxsets that I order and I get themm all from Amazon. I give it a 10 out of 10.』
(crazy awsome) 『this is awsome really great why bother watching it on cartoon net work when you can see the uncut versions this is so cool a awsome series.』 『DVD box set with 14 episodes. Featuring original and uncut episodes!
Sasuke returns at last to face Gaara in the final round of the Chunin Exam with his powerful new jutsu, Chidori. But the match is interrupted when Orochimaru's scheme to bring down the Hidden Leaf Village is put into motion. While the Third Hokage faces his former protégé Orochimaru and his dreadful forbidden jutsu, Sasuke takes off after Gaara and the Sand ninja, and Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru take off after Sasuke! Will the ninja of the Hidden Leaf survive the evil that has befallen them?
Includes Collectible Naruto storyboards booklet!』 『As the hit fantasy-adventureNarutocontinues, Sasuke must face Gaara in the final round of the Chunin Exams, a match that has a greater significance than either participant realizes. The students face off while Sand and Wind ninja attack the Hidden Leaf Village. The attack has been planned by the evil Orochimaru, who was once a student of the Lord Hokage of the Leaf Village. The fight between Sasuke and Gaara, who repeatedly proclaims he lives only to kill, is an essential part of Orochimaru's scheme: he hopes to take over Sasuke's body and keep himself perennially young, using a forbiddenjutsu(magical technique). But Sasuke overcomes Gaara's clouds of enchanted sand and wounds his psychopathic foe. Other students from the Sand Village spirit Gaara away, with Sasuke in pursuit; Kakashi-sensei summons up Pakkun, the ninja dog, and tells him to lead Naruto and Sakura to Sasuke. Between battles, the filmmakers offer flashbacks of the lonely, bitter childhood that warped Gaara's personality. Naruto, who was also rejected as a child, understands what Gaara suffered, but he's reduced to a minor player in these episodes. Volume 6 ranks as the darkest and least comic installment to date in the saga of Naruto Uzumaki. (Naruto Vol. 3) 『Naruto Vol.3 is the beginning of the best part of the Naruto series. It starts at the second part of the Chuunin Exams. This is where the genins must work in teams of three to traverse the forest of death. It is also where the super villian, Orochimaru, is introduced. The DVD is great. There aren't really any significant special features, but the subtitles are near to the fan subs. Which is important if you're like me and don't like the mostly cheesy English dub. If you like Naruto, this is a must have.』
(KEEPS GETTING BETTER.....) 『I love this season from the beginning when they all get challenged in the Forest of Death....Almost done w/ this season and looking forward to Season 4.』
(The third DVD box set for Naruto) 『Naruto Uncut Box Set 3 is a three DVD set that contains episodes twenty-six through thirty-eight of Naruto. The first disc contains five episodes, the second disc contains four episodes, and the third disc contains four episodes and the special features. I have to say that, unlike Naruto Uncut Box Set 2, this set is more enjoyable to watch; the story isn't being stretched out a ridiculous amount, so it actually progresses at a decent pace.
The first extra included in this DVD set is labeled as "Production Art." This consists of ten pages, and all ten pages are model sketches of some of the Naruto characters. There is also "From Sketch to Screen," which contains eight pages of storyboards from episode thirty-three. You can also see the English credits in the "Extras" menu. These are the exact same English version of the credits that appears on the first two DVD sets of Naruto. This, of course, means that there is no bed music to accompany the credits, so you just watch text crawl up the screen in complete silence.
There is a sneak preview of Naruto Uncut Box Set 4, which runs a little over three-and-a-half minutes. A link labeled "Shonen Jump Home Video" is a link to three trailers: Bleach, Hikaru no Go, and One Piece. The "Shonen Jump Magazine" link includes an advertisement for Shonen Jump Magazine, an advertisement for the Naruto manga, and two advertisements for other Shonen Jump manga titles.
Just like the first two box sets, I was rather disappointed with the special features included on this set. While I basically knew to expect these extras, since they're the same kinds that are on the first two sets, I kept hoping that perhaps Viz Media would go to a little more effort with the extras this time.
If you're a Naruto fan and want to collect the episodes on DVD, then the Naruto Uncut Box Set 3 would be a good addition to your DVD library.』
(great item high price) 『This item is great and I acually paid the price for it. Then I about kicked myself when I found this at Walmart for $24 oh well』 『The squad mates face their deadliest challenge yet as the Chunin Exam continues. Deep in the Forest of Death, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura must battle their rival Genin to collect the scrolls of Heaven and Earth. It's no easy task, but is there an even darker force at work? Something evil is afoot, and it's after Sasuke!』 『The second season of the popular comedy-adventureNarutobegins with the second round of the Chunin exams. To reintroduce the main characters, the eternally impatient Naruto Uzumaki starts the show "27 minutes early--in the time slot ofThe Prince of Tennis"--so everyone has to scramble to fill the time until the videotape arrives. But once this very silly introduction concludes, the tone of the series darkens and the relationships grow more complicated. Brooding, beetle-browed Rock Lee reveals his affection for Sakura, just as she's coming to terms with her former best friend (and rival for Sasuke's affection) Ino. Sakura and Sasuke grudgingly gain a little respect for Naruto--when he's not annoying them by shooting off his big mouth. But the most significant development is the emergence of the villain Orochimaru, a reptilian character with a prehensile tongue Gene Simmons would envy. One of the most notorious and deadly criminals in ninja history, Orochimaru is drawn to Sasuke's extraordinary abilities, and he plans to ensnare the young ninja as an accomplice. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke fail to grasp the seriousness of Orochimaru's plot, although the Hokage and his lieutenants are on the alert. This dire threat infuses the often slapstick antics of Squad Seven with a menace the first season lacked. Naruto may still be everybody's favorite knucklehead, but he's up against much tougher foes. The three-disc comes with the bound storyboards (in Japanese only) of Episode #29, "Naruto's Counterattack: Never Give In!" (Better than good...) 『I had taken some time to pick this up because it is "all over the place"...
In retrospect it would have been a better choice to pick it up sooner...
This is good clean fun that I really think should be "all over the place"!
1) The art is very good. 2) The story, while not remarkably original, is done well and fun none-the-less. 3) The audio is good. 4) The characters are well developed. 5) The plot could have been stronger moving somethings along a little better but overall it was solid.
There is a quality to this anime that keeps you wanting to know the truth and plot twists that make this very worth watching.
As harem anime goes this is pretty darn good.
Fan service is light on this and it is done in good taste.
Remarkably without a lot of fan service, the women and girls in this all maintain a very good balance of sexy and funny that rounds this anime out very well.
At the end of this anime you look forward to the next installment expecting to see old friends in new situations.
It is pretty warm and fuzzy like that.
Definitely one to keep for your collection.』
(From a retrospective POV) 『This was one of the first anime series that I ever watched, and for some reason never picked up the DVDs for them. Now that I'm watching it over again, its age really shows. (Original air date is 2000) The series is great to those of you who like multiple (hot) girls wailing on a "weak" guy type of character. Yes, it's quite implausible, but if you're into anime for plausibility and realness, then you're in the wrong genre.
VIDEO QUALITY The video source has so much ghosting, frame blends, and discoloration (compared to 2009 titles) that it's painful to look at, even with all your DVD player's real-time filters. The opening sequence makes my eyes explode since it has tons of frames like that. This is not the fault of FUNIMATION since I remember that the original releases (even in Japan) had this kind of odd video quality. So I must warn people about this in case you're like me and am spoiled when it comes to animation production.
PACKAGING As this release was meant for impulse buying, the packaging isn't that great. The cardboard DVD box is quite fragile and I even grazed it when running a scissor blade through the plastic to open it. The inside is better as it has the two DVDs in thin cases with double-sided artwork of all the girls. And even the discs has them all in underwear or less without going into frontal nudity. However, mine also has printing imperfections.
If you've watched this before and are feeling nostalgic, then you might be one the fence about this. In that case, I say go ahead and get it since it's so cheap. And for those of you watching for the first time, just as long as you keep its production year in mind and not set the bar impossibly high, you'll like this series.』
(Looking for the Promise Girl) 『"Love Hina" is one of my all-time favorite anime series, and one of the few that ever made me laugh out loud. It has been quite a few years since I visited the girls at the Hinata Lodge, and I am happy to say that the series is just as fun now as it first was when I watched it eight years ago.
At first, glance, "Love Hina" seems formulaic. Lovable loser Keitaro dreams of success, but seems to fail at everything he tries. Out of luck and plans, he goes to visit his Grandmother Hina and winds up the manager of the Hinata Lodge, a fantastically beautiful building with a backyard hot spring that is populated only by beautiful and feisty girls. Keitaro, the incurable romantic, has long be searching for his "promise girl," the love of his life that he knew back when he was about three years old, and to whom he promised they would grow up and attend Tokyo University (think Harvard) together, and get married. He can't remember the girl's name, but he hasn't given up hope. Just possibly, one of the gals at the Hinata Lodge is Keitaro's long-lost Promise Girl, and he just might find her if he doesn't get killed first. Hijinks ensue.
The storyline is pretty typical of "harem"-style anime series, but somehow "Love Hina" does everything right. Series creator Akamatsu Ken (Negima!) knows how to work an ensemble cast, giving each girl a distinct personality and story arc. Sure, much of the hijinks comes from Keitaro doing his best only to wind up with panties on his head, or walking in on one of the girls naked, only to get a swift kick for his troubles. That is standard Akamatsu fare. But "Love Hina" has some serious undercurrents and nuances that makes all the over-the-top stuff just that much funnier.
The animated series differs from the manga, which is pretty common in Japanese anime. I love both, personally, and felt that they did some really creative things with the "Love Hina" anime. One of my favorite episodes features the kendo girl Makoto in the in the flickering, black and white style of old Samurai films. There are other homages as well, to places as various as Godzilla and Pokemon and nods to other anime series.
This release from Funimation is just great, with nice picture and sound. The subtitles can be a little hard to read in spots, when the white fades into the background, but that is my only really complaint. I haven't listed to the English-dubbing because, well, I just generally don't like English-dubbing for anime.
This set collects the original twenty-four episodes of the series plus the bonus twenty-fifth episode, which was not included on the previously released Love Hina Anime Legends Complete Collection. The entire series is packed on four DVDs collected in slim cases. I have heard that some people had trouble with the packaging, but mine arrived in perfect condition and is nice and sturdy, so no complaints there. I love the slim-case packaging because, with the size of my anime collection, my shelves can use some relief.
Not included in this collection are the Love Hina Christmas Movie, the Love Hina Spring Movie, or the Love Hina Again OVA series, which have been released separately by other companies and as part of the Love Hina - Perfect Collection. I can only assume (and hope!) that Funimation will be coming out with a follow-up "Love Hina" collection that completes the series.』
(Not as good) 『For someone who has read all the Love Hina manga, I find the anime series lacking. I suggest you read first, watch after.』 『Attempting to fulfill a promise to his childhood sweetheart, Keitaro Urashima is determined to enter Tokyo University. After being rejected twice, he decides to leave home and stay at his grandmother's apartment complex to study. But when he arrives, his grandmother is gone and he finds himself under attack by the all-female residents. Will the girls accept him as their new apartment manager? Will his bones ever mend? More importantly, can he concentrate on his studies when he discovers that one of his tenants might be his long lost sweetheart?』 『Based on the manga by Ken Akamatsu,Love Hina(2000) is one of the best-loved examples of the "harem comedy" genre. When he was five years old, Keitaro Urashima promised a girl that they’d attend prestigious Tokyo University together. Now he's 20: he's failed the entrance exam twice, and is attending cram school, hoping to fulfill that promise. His life grows very complicated when his grandmother retires, making him the manager of the Hinata Apartments, which serves as a high-school girls’ dorm. The residents include an assortment of standard anime types: painfully shy Shinobu, violently anti-male kendo champion Motoko, irrepressible Su and brainy, pretty, hot-tempered Naru. Keitaro's kind heart wins over the girls, despite his low self- esteem, poor study habits and over-active fantasy life. Many of the episodes play off other series. In "Kendo Girl in Love," Motoko dreams herself into an old video game that spoofsSailor MoonandEl Hazard. (American viewers may not realize that the Dragon Palace and giant turtle refer to the Japanese Rip Van Winkle story "Urashima Taro", a play off Keitaro's last name, Urashima.) In another episode, the cast stages a slapstick adaptation of the classic Chinese novel "The Journey to the West" that brings down the house--and the theater--when they accidentally uncork a hidden hot spring. Further complications ensue when Keitaro blows the entrance exam yet again, and his grandmother returns from her travels, throwing his future into limbo. When he goes off to brood by himself, the other members of the cast reflect on how much their favorite goofball means to them, despite his shortcomings. Everyone may not live happily after, but by the end of Episode #24, they sort things out in a way that's appropriate to the story--and leaves openings for sequels. (Episode #25 is included with theLove Hina: Christmas Movie). Rated TV 14: comic violence, risqué humor, brief nudity, tobacco use.)--Charles Solomon
