Victorinox
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Feels cheap in my hand) 『First off - I am a "swiss army knife" kind of guy (my wife refers to me as MacGyver), so I was happy to buy Victorinox kitchen knives. I have bought an 8" chef's knife (which I absolutely LOVE) and a 5" narrow boning knife (I'm also very pleased with that one). This knife, however, was not sharp when received, and the handle seems too narrow. It is not flimsy, but just feels like a "dollar store" knife. I gave it three stars because, once I sharpened this knife with 3-4 strokes on my steel, it cuts beautifully! It also seems to hold that edge quite well, but I can't get over the feeling that I am not using a quality knife just from the way it feels in my hand. I didn't pay much for it but I still probably wouldn't recommend it. I don't feel like I have good control over the knife because of the shape of the handle.』
(Good Little Paring Knife) 『This is a very good little paring knife. Especially for the price. I don't use any of my other cheap paring knife's any more. I love this little thing. I does feel very light but it is built pretty sturdy and the blade is sharp. Not as sharp as I expected but you can sharpen it with a stone like another reviewer mentioned and because of the composition of the blade make it as sharp as you want. It's not shiny or flashy but it will get the job done and at the cost you really can't beat it for easy of use and utility. Don't bother with any cheap paring knife when you can buy this one for about the same price and get much better quality.』
(Sharp little knife for little hands) 『This is a very sharp little knife for peeling and slicing vegetables -- I even managed to slice pieces of ham with it in a hurry for my lunch. However, if you have big hands like I do, this is not the perfect paring knife for you. The knife is light-weight and the handle is and much too small for my hands -- I prefer a paring knife with a thicker handle. For this reason, I give this knife four (4) stars.』
(Good, cheap knife!) 『I, like so many others, read about this knife in "Cooks Illustrated". It is a good little knife, no doubt about it. I do find myself reaching for it a lot. It lost some sharpness pretty quickly but sharpened back up on a rod-style sharpener and I have an electric knife sharpener that will probably work fine when the time comes. If you don't have an inclination or ability to sharpen it, then you might be disapointed down the road.
The handle is a bit dinky and the whole knife feels a little cheap compared to some of my "nicer" knives but it is extremely maneuverable and quick. Perfect for slicing an apple or other fruit. It's a nice way to round out an order for free shipping!』
(love it!) 『I bought several of these paring knives. I kept two for myself and gave some as gifts. I'm very happy with my purchase. I would definitely purchase this knife again. I have also bought the Victorinox chefs knife. It had a much sharper blade than the paring knife when new. I would highly recommend both these knives. Great knives with good prices.』 『The R H Forschner by Victorinox Paring Knife features high carbon, stainless steel blade, hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade. Victorinox handles are ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They provide a natural fit. A good heft and comfortable, positive grip are indications of a well-made knife. Although cutlery steel is naturally sanitary, materials and construction details of the handle minimize crevices what would offer hospitality to bacteria.』

(The Cuisinart's description has some cryptic language on it that sort of implies that it is dishwasher safe, but this only applies to some of the parts.)
After several months of use, including many cycles through the dishwasher, the KitchenAid blender is working great.』
(Nice) 『Hi everyone,
I am very happy with this purchase. I join all those people who wrote all those positive reviews. They were not exgerating. It's a very powerful mixer. It gets the job done quickly and easily. It's also easy to clean and store.』
(Great immersion blender) 『This is the third immersion blender I have owned and leave it to KitchenAid to do a fine job producing a great product. This same immersion blender is available without the accessory pieces, but it is worth it to get them all at once - with the added bonus of the storage tote! The food chopper attachment is perfect for chopping nuts, grinding crackers, grating cheese, etc. My only complaint would be that the bottom, no-slip disk is not actually attached, it is a separate piece. The unit is powerful and easy to clean.』
(careful to buy) 『i purchased the hand blender and was so excited. however i used it 3 x and somehow stopped working. it doesnt work anymore. smoke started coming out, i dont know why. good thing it happened early so i was able to call the company and they will issue another one under 1 yr warranty. warranty should be longer than 1 yr. just like the cuisinart. oh well. i recommend using the product quickly and see it doesnt wear out.』
(KitchenAid Hand Blender) 『Great product. It's fast, easy, and powerful, just don't overflow the the plastic beaker because the contents will explode all over you.』 『Variable Speed Control dial on top of Blender』 『A great gift for those with small kitchens, this hand-held blender and its accessories take the place of several larger appliances. Included are a regular blending blade (which can be immersed 8 inches into soup pots or deep bowls), a wire whisk for beating eggs and batters, and an enclosed chopper for nuts, cheese, and fresh herbs. Also included are a four-cup mixing beaker with a snap-lock lid, useful for storing blended ingredients, as well as a drawstring bag to keep all the components together. (A nice little item) 『This little rascal allows me to get a pretty quick cup in my office. I don't have to worry about turning it off afterwards, either! The convenience outweighs the need to dump the grounds and clean it. A set of filters would make that easier, though.』
(Satisfied) 『Great for one drinker per household. Perfect for my needs. Glad I got it, use it every day.
Pros: Brews very fast, very hot. No purchasing of filters. No pot, brews right into the drinking cup. Makes just the right amount. Cons: Cup's external temp can be hot to the touch...but bearable for me.

Every time I have a movie night, everyone wants to join me in the kitchen to watch me make popcorn, and they totally enjoy the quality of the popcorn and how quick and simple it is to make. I've purchased this for friends who have ranted and raved about it.』

But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. (Rabbit) 『I own one of these. I purchased this for my son-in-law who loves wine. He needs a perfect wine bottle opener.』
(Cheap plastic immitation) 『I purchased three of these as gifts this summer, and one for myself. It is made of plastic, and works correctly one of 4 times. The little screw on cap which makes it function pops off routinely-very poorly engineered and made.』
(A great gift) 『The Rabbit wine opener works just as advertised, although it takes a little more muscle than I originally thought. And what a great conversation piece! The foil cutter makes opening a bottle that much easier. The drip guard, to my surprise, doesn't fall off the bottle into your glass when you pour out the last little bit, as long as you push it all the way down the neck as far as it can go. I haven't had occasion to use the wax remover. The only piece in this kit I don't really understand is the sealer, it hasn't fit on any bottle I've tried yet. But then, I haven't tried it on a bottle of champagne yet, so maybe it will fit for that. The kit comes in an attractive case that stands up, which makes it a great gift.』
(The 5 Star reviews are right!) 『If you drink wine, port, or any other cork related beverage, the Rabbit is great! It opens bottles in 3 seconds, and it seems like everyone argues who gets to use it next. This is the best deal I have seen, since it retails for about $100 in stores. The Rabbit Corkscrew was redesigned with an all new precision metal gear mechanism for even smoother and more reliable wine bottle opening. Of all the corkscrews on the market, you won't find one better or more efficient This corkscrew is synthetic cork friendly』 『A great gift for a wine lover, this powerful, award-winning tool effortlessly extracts the cork from any wine bottle in 3 seconds with simple lever action. Handles with comfortable rubberized padding easily clamp onto a bottle's neck; the lever drives the tough worm into the cork with a push and then pulls the cork out cleanly with a simple pull. Releasing the cork involves the same action, only with the handles clamped onto the cork. Ruggedly constructed of polycarbonate and reinforced nylon, the cork puller has the heft of a fine, precise high-tech tool and comes by its name, Rabbit, because it resembles a bunny's head. Metrokane corkscrews are independently tested for 20,000 cork pulls; tests assume replacement of the spiral after 1,000 pulls.
This model of the Rabbit has a velvety, silver finish, as do the four tools accompanying it. The tools include a squeeze-and-twist foil cutter to strip away the foil covering a cork, a drip-stop ring that fits onto any size wine bottle to prevent stains on table linen, a sealer that twists so tightly into any size bottle's neck it preserves even Champagne bubbles, and a "wax whacker" that flips the wax tablet off a wine cork. Also included is a replacement worm--the installed worm wears out after 20,000 or so corks. The Rabbit and tools all fit snugly into a padded storage case with a hinged lid. The cork puller carries a 10-year warranty against failure.--Fred Brack』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great value) 『For the price point, this ricer is a great value. Easy to use and take apart. No small pins to loose as we had in a previous model. The plastic design will not rust, and you are able to leverage the the ricer on the edge of the pot to make it easier to squeeze. My only negative is lime green the best color for this item?』
(The MOST Delicious Mashed Potatoes Ever!) 『WOW! I love this ricer! Ok, so this is my very first ricer, so I can't exactly compare it to any other brands I've tried; however, this one works great, is easy to clean and is pretty darn cute - with it's lime green center piece. I had considered buying one from Target or the grocery store near us, but the one at Target looked really cheap and clunky, and the one at the grocery store looked very sturdy, but it was $30. So this one seems like a great deal - it's cute, it's not cheap looking or feeling and it was only $15.
I just made a batch of mashed potatoes and they came out AMAZING. Super smooth and just melted in my mouth. I was so excited by the results I had to jump on here and review it.
I originally bought this with the idea that it would help me make baby food for my little one here, but I think I'll be using it a lot this winter making mashed potatoes for the whole family. And to boot - it's FUN to use! I mean, if I ever find myself not using it, I can give it to my kids for their play-dough activities. It's perfect for that!
If you like mashed potatoes, I 100% recommend it. I wish I had discovered this tool years ago!』
(BIG Hopper - Great Stabilizer Clip - No Lumps) 『This could not be improved at all - buy the perfect one and never have to buy another again! Resting the handle on the bowl is a must to load the BIG hopper and the long handle closes down with ease. The two included disks are plenty enough to cover your bases. Cleans up easily with the removable pieces. I will never go back to hand mashing!』
(Not made for everyone) 『I was excited to use the ricer for the first time this evening, only to be let down. I have a slight case of arthritis and I thought the ricer would be easier to use the a manual potato masher. I was wrong. I used both hands and I still had a hard time pressing down the top lever to squeeze out the potatoes. By the time I had processed the potatoes through the ricer they were cold. However, the potatoes did come out fluffy and I had no chunks.』
(The Best Mashed Potatoes Ever!) 『I have never been able to make good mashed potatoes, this duty falls to family members for holiday meals. I am an avid fan of Cook's Illustrated and they recommended this Ricer. It is wonderful; your results will be consistent every time. The unit is easy to assemble, clean and store. It is light weight and easy to use. It is an excellent product.』 『A phenomenal gadget both you and your potatoes will love! Made of heavy duty plastic, this ricer sports a nifty green stripe and is ready to race through piles of potatoes. Contoured handles provide comfort, while the pot extension holds the ricer steady over most pots. Comes with two interchangeable stainless steel plates - medium and coarse. 13.5-in. overall length, 4-in. wide. Dishwasher safe.』

Let me tell you, I got this as a gift about a month ago and I use it all the time. Recipes that I wouldn't have thought about like roasting my own peppers and tomatoes into a delicious pasta sauce are now easy as pie. My only complaints about the mixer is that I wish that the smaller food chop bowl didn't sit inside the big bowl when you use it. The reason you want to use a little chopper is so you don't have to clean the big one, but in this case it just means you have more to clean! I love that all of the other tools and blades that come with it come in their own storage box but I wish the box was stronger so I could store the processor on top of it, or I wish that I could put it on its side without everything falling out to take up less space in my cupboards when not in use. The storage box has room to put a couple more things in it (or so it looks) but I have no idea what they are, it would be good for them to include in the manual a layout of what goes where in that box, and what these mysterious additions to the set could be. All in all, my criticism is minor and the product functions flawlessly. I just wish I bought this sooner. The pretty pink matches my mixer, blender, and hand mixer.』
(KitchenAid 12 Cup Food Processor is a great product!) 『I have been very pleased with my new food processor in the short time I've had it. I have shredded carrots and sliced apples and sweet potatoes. It works very quickly, so quickly I can hardly feed it fast enough. It is very powerful and easy to clean. I would recommend this product to anyone who is searching for a new food processor. The Accessory Case is very handy for keeping the accessories together.』
(It makes a great ground beef) 『I just used this food processor to make ground beef. It's very robust and I'm looking forward to using it for a LONG time. I'd like if it included more recipes however.』
(Made to last.) 『Well actually I have not used the 2 of these that I bought for wedding presents, but I have my old one, which we use often. These look similiar. Kitchenaid quality is great. These are very robust, except, perhaps you have to be careful of the little plastic insert in the lid where the little cutter-blade holder goes. I'm hoping that KItchenaid has not lowered the quality of this product. ( Like they apparently have with their great blender KSB5. They don't make the old KSB5 blender with the glass carafe and the sturdy motor that we run for 5 minutes at a time to grind soaked lentils and rice in water... Anyway, enough about my grief over their blender, which is no longer available for gifts. We're supposed to be reviewing the food processor.) We have a blender w. lots of mojo that we use for "wet" stuff,&I am pretty effecient w. the knife. But you need a food processor for grating, and for chopping dry stuff. We use this food processor for: 1. small cup&small "propeller" blade for: chutneys&ginger/garlic processing b) chopping nuts 2. big cup and big "propeller" blade for: a) making cake icing - just turn it on and slowly pour stuff in b) sometimes process curries into smooth curries - we only use it instead of the blender if it is already "dirty" with carrots c) large quantities of chutney ingredients, including fresh coconut, peanuts 3. big cup w. rotary graters: a) grated carrots (all kids seem to love carrot salad) b) grated cheese (we make in large quantities and freeze) Motor never sounds strained or tired&we tend to process in large quantities for serving 12-50 people. This food processor does *not* work well for grinding small quantities of spices. (they should have an "itsy bitsy" cup available for purchase.) Instead I use a cheap $15 coffee grinder - gingerly because it can overheat, and sift through a tea-strainer. (Neat trick: You clean the coffee grinder by grinding some rice in it.) (If I only had money for one or the other, I would buy a good-quality blender instead of this.) Did I mention that the base is designed to be very easy to clean? The base is really heavy, but hey, you want a powerful motor, right? I don't know if it is possible to make it lighter. Did I mention that it is pretty darn quiet? BTW, it comes with plenty of nice grater wheels and propellor choppers and a nice case for them. But if you want to make whipped cream/ whipped eggs you have to buy the attachment ($25!!!)
I'm not giving it 5 stars because: Lid is o.k., but a bit flimsy. Optional egg whip attachment costs too much. No "itsy bitsy" cup available for grinding spices.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Work for a while, broke prematurely) 『This worked as it should for a while. After using this less than 10 times within the first year of use, it quit working. It now reads a temperature of around 160 when at room temperature.』
(Perfect steaks) 『I purchased this thermometer in August of 2009 to improve my BBQ skills. Our family like their steaks done to different degrees and not being a professional chef, I needed the help. I have used it now for over 2 months and the steaks are perfect and the chicken is just right and juicy. Prior to this I had to keep cutting into the steaks to judge the temp and losing the heat when I opened the lid and I tended to over cook the chicken to make sure it was done. A couple of tips, insert the probe from the side and try to get in the middle of the meat. I didn't put the probe in until about 1/2 way done cooking. Also, use a glove when taking the probe out, that sucker is HOT, 180 for medium steaks. Don't forget to turn it off after use to save the battery. The wife uses it in the oven and on the stove to stop the guessing when it is done. Having a convection oven makes the food cook faster and the thermometer is very handy instead of trying to guess the time it takes and keep cutting into it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their cooking.』
(Keep the warranty information around) 『I've had this thermometer for about 8 months now, and it worked fine until a couple weeks ago when it just stopped working. It's possible that it's just the probe, but since getting a new probe costs almost as much as buying a new unit, I probably won't try it.
I didn't find the ability to specify the type of meat all that helpful, since you couldn't specify bone-in or not. The temperature it goes to automatically seems to be the bone-in temperature, and since I rarely use any meat with bones it it, I had to manually set the temperature anyway (or have overcooked, dry chicken, which is what I use a thermometer to avoid)
The unit makes a loud, annoying whine every time you turn it on. Not annoying enough to keep me from using it, but enough that I wouldn't buy it again.
I did find the wide temperature range handy (the primary reason I got this model) and it comes with a little clip for the side of the pan so you can suspend the tip of the probe in oil without worrying that it will slip to the side or bottom.
Update: I called CDN to see if this would fall under their 5 year warranty, and they told me to send it in and they would send me a new one. They had really quick turnaround time (about 2 weeks- faster than any warranty replacement I've ever gotten!) and great customer service. I'd add a star back if I could.』

You can even program an alarm to sound when food has reached a desired temperature. Predetermined settings are also available. (World's Best and Fastest Decalifier Ever) 『Forget about that Lime Away stuff....takes way too long to work. Got this product for my Capresso Teakettle (which I just love) and when the heating element becomes covered with water calcification...this stuff removes it in a second. Rinses clean too unlike Lime Away which leaves some product residue behind no matter how many times I rinse my teakettle. However it wasn't quite as useful to me as I had hoped it might be.
It's an all right slicer, but I had trouble getting even slices out of it. It tends to tear out the back edge of whatever I'm slicing. It's not a huge deal, but the slices were not very 'pretty'. I also felt the safety food holder didn't hold very much at a time. I ended up cutting a cucumber in 6 pieces and having to reload the holder several times to slice it all. All in all, it wasn't any faster than a knife for me and had less attractive results.
On the up side, cleanup is fairly easy. I just sprayed mine off with the faucet sprayer. The safety storage box is also fairly easy to use, and it's nice they include it since the parts ARE so sharp. I'm probably just going to get a salad shooter instead of this item though.』
(Works as advertised but BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!) 『Yes this item slices like a hot knife through soft butter but will do the same with your finger.
I was in the ER for 3 hours last night as the Doc. reattached the tip of my index finger. I admit I thought I could do a couple of test slices of a potato but, even sliced long way the slicer got my finger. DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT A SINGLE SLICE WITHOUT THE HOLDER.... Also the directions are confusing and it will take you 10 minutes to figure out how to use the V-Slicer although I'm certain once you get the hang of it you'll be quicker.
Please be careful even with the holder, as the former demo fellow said, he even lost a finger tip after years of demos because his hand was wet and he slipped.
One more thing the ER Doc. said I wouldn't believe the number of patients he had with the same injury from the same device..........』

(Don't waste your money!) 『Was purchased to replace a Benriner(Japanese). Huge mistake. Cutter blades are so thin that they flex when slicing more dense vegetables. Edges of the plastic cover are cracked in the corners even though never used. Plastic anti-skid pads on the bottom peeled off for no apparent reason. Device had been used about 6x. Have been pleased with German cutlery in the past but this is poorest product I've wasted money on in many years!』
(The Best!) 『I've had this mandoline for the last 20 years and am just getting ready to replace it (and only because I've lost a couple of the pieces). The blade has stayed sharp. Even with constant use, it's just beginning to dull. Time for a new one! Thought I'd check out other options but I keep coming back to this one. You can pay more but I don't think you will necessarily get a better product.』 『Cut thick slices of apple for pies, or veggies for stir fries. Slice potatoes thinly for homemade chips, or cabbage for cole slaw. Shred carrots for salad, or julienne, or cube, or dice. With a helpful set of instructions and three cutters, this machine yields professional looking, uniform results, at great speed and without much work on your part.』 『An inexpensive alternative to a professional stainless-steel mandoline, this device makes it possible to quickly, uniformly, and safely slice and julienne vegetables and fruits. It also shreds cabbage and neatly dices potatoes, tomatoes, and onions. For safety, a holder firmly grips food with stainless-steel prongs so fingers are protected from the German surgical-steel blades, and the three inserts accompanying the device lock in position. The inserts act as a guide for slicing against the V-frame's knife that reverses to create slices either 1/4-inch or 1/16-inch thick and two julienne inserts for creating 1/8-inch or 3/8-inch strips. For storage, the V-frame, all three inserts, and the safety holder fit into a caddy that can stand upright on the counter, lie flat in a drawer, or hang on the wall. Made of rugged plastic, the device measures 15 inches long and 6 inches wide when assembled for storage.--Fred Brack』
