It is a very nice compact cooler, an AC/DC adapter is must. We have used it once for a short trip ( 4 hrs). It hold up the drinks and milk for babies as cold as we expected it to be.

I bought this cooler-heater together with an AC Adapter through Amazon.
Subsequently I read where their AC Adapter caused fires.

I wrote to Koolatron to see if they had modified the Adapter to prevent these fires and they refused to answer me.

I am not sure why Amazon still carries the product under these circumstances.
My husband and I are over-the-road truck drivers. We keep this cooler in the top bunk which is the hottest part of the truck yet it still does a great job of keeping things cool. The size is perfect for 1/2 gallon cartons or cans of pop stacked two high. My only gripe is a design flaw which does not protect the fan. There is no reinforcement around the fan (such as styrofoam as in our other cooler) so if something happens to fall against the fan side of the unit, the fan is prevented from spinning thus burning up the motor. Even holding onto on the fan side in order to move the cooler is enough to stop the fan from turning. Other than that, we are very happy with it.
I don't know how this got on my list of things to review. I have never owned one. I do have two other Koolatron coolers, and they are great. One is over 30 years old and still going. I gave this a 5 star rating because Koolatron makes 5 star products.
I use this for keeping my coffee warm while on the road. I will usually get 3 large containers and keep 2 in the cooler using the heat to keep them hot.

I noticed that the containers are wet along with the holders I put inside to hold the containers in place. Not sure why it does this but it does keep the coffee hot for several hours even if you unplug it after a half hour.

Other than the moister it works like I wanted.

(The Little Coffee Maker That Could - Almost)

I thought the price was right and wanted a coffee maker for camping and sailing that wasn't glass (no breakage) but my experience is much like the others. After a few uses the plunger bottom cracked and broke. I've been searching for a replacement plunger without much luck.

This was the first "french press" I ever bought.
The 3 cup size is measured by the European tiny 4oz per cup size, so it should make about 12 oz, though with the beans taking up room, it holds between 10oz-11oz. It makes the perfect (for me anyway) size cup for one.

I was never a big coffee drinker, and when I did drink it, I always loaded up on cream and sugar. This press makes such wonderful coffee, and it's never bitter, I drink it black and love it. In case you are assuming that since I'm not a huge coffee drinker that I like it weak and light, I much prefer the coffee to be dark and full bodied. I'm mainly drinking one "cup" a day for the antioxidants and other health benefits you get from drinking freshly ground coffee, and by using a french press, there is no paper filter to absorb most of the beneficial and flavorful oils.

I use two measuring tablespoons of coarsely ground beans for each pot, pour almost boiling water over them, stir and let brew for a few minutes, then slowly depress the plunger to push the ground to the bottom and pour.
BTW, The leftover grounds are great for the compost - the worms never had it so good ;-D

I buy my coffee locally from a small company that roasts their own beans, but I think any coffee would work fine as long as it is coarsely ground so you don't get small gritty pieces escaping through the filter into your cup.
I get the beans whole and freshly grind them myself with the Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder.

Now on to the big con and why I only gave it three stars:
The housing for the metal mesh filter is made out of thin cheapo plastic. Over a very short period of time, from normal pressure of pushing it down on the coffee grounds it breaks apart rendering it useless.

I bought mine several years ago from a local company and it was the only small one they had. I wrote this review because I see from the current reviews that they are still making this model with the same lousy plastic filter housing. When mine broke, I found one on Amazon that was identical but made of glass (which I prefer anyway), and most importantly the filter housing is made of stainless steel making a very durable product (it also doesn't have a silicone seal, its just metal mesh).
Unfortunately Amazon is not currently carrying it, but I've heard that the Bodum brand has the all stainless steel housing in theirs.

Bottom Line: If you can find the one with the stainless steel filter housing grab it. If you want the unbreakable carafe (this one) be very careful not to exert much pressure on the plunger or the plastic will break.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the sturdy rubber base the carafe sits in makes it very stable, and allows you to set it on surfaces where heat would have been a problem.
The outside is unbreakable but not the plunger. I never dropped it or put it in the dishwasher. This thing didn't even last a year. I went to wash it the other day and the plastic around the screen just fell apart into a bunch of pieces. Who cares if the outside works if your coffee is full of grounds?
Bonjour's claims of indestructability are true, in part: the hard plastic carafe of this French press won't shatter no matter how many times you drop it on the floor. But after a year of regular use the plunger, which holds a fine metal screen in place with a pair of plastic braces, fell to pieces. And, wouldn't you know it, you just can't buy a replacement. At least when you smash a glass carafe you can pick up a new one. This thing makes good coffee, but you'll have to buy a new one before long.

Good Grips Corn Stripper:

The first time I used the device, all went fine. The second, something slipped and I badly cut my right small finger, resulting in six stitches.

My advice: Cut the cob in half. Put on a kitchen mit. Take a high quality paring or tomato knife. Put the "butt down end" of the corn on a cutting board.Cut off the kernels. Place in china bowl, butter, salt and eat, as our parents did when they were the ones with dentues!

For several years my husband has used one of those long wooden corn cutters to make cream-style corn. I bought this one for him because I liked the space-saving size and thought it would be nice to use for small batches of corn. Well, the first time he used it, he sliced the tip of his little finger. The design of this cutter requires you to hold the corn in one hand while moving the cutter against the corn with the other hand. So, it's very awkward to use. I thought I wouldn't have a problem because my hands are smaller than my husband's hands. I was very, very careful and did not get hurt, but I found the cutter to be very cumbersome and slow.
I accidentally ordered two of these which made me so mad because I really didn't think the cutter would work as well as the video claims. Now that I've tried it, I'm glad I have two because I never want to be without one again for as long as I live! My husband grows me bushels of sweet corn each year that I like to freeze. Most of the corn I have to freeze on the cob because the wooden Lee Corn cutter that I've been using for years only creams the corn, which my husband loves but my son hates. Cutting all that corn off the cob with a knife would be a nightmare, and messy too. So I've been freezing a lot of the corn on the cob, and I cut it off for my son with a knife as I cook it throughout the year. What a pain! The corn on the cobs takes up so much room in my freezer. This year I can finally freeze cut corn and creamed corn without having to make room for the cobs! This gadget also isn't messy like the Lee corn cutter, and its container will hold the kernels from two pieces of corn before I have to empty it. I hope it stays sharp because, as of today, it glides through the kernels like butter. I actually cut the kernels off in seconds, just like the video. Compare that to a knife!
This is a great idea! I do wish the holding area was larger but other than that it is very easy to use and I would surely buy it again if I needed one!
I had gone to Williams Sonoma to get their corn stripper only to find they were out and they suggested this one to me and its even better than the WS one I was going to get. I make a recipe that requires fresh corn on the cob and you have to strip it from the cob- I can't tell you how quick and handy this item makes that. You still have to be careful as you can cut yourself if you use it in the wrong direction, but its pretty fool proof and holds 1/2 cup or so of corn at a time. The best part is, you can strip several corn rows at a time and go back over it if you don't get it all. I love any gadget that makes my cooking a little easier. With this thing, I make fresh sauteed corn all the time. Great item!

I swear I dont know how anyone can rate these less than 5...
I have these and the bakeware and they are great. It goes without saying if you put HOT stuff in these bowls do not stick straight in the fridge, wait till it cools. Just like if you buy the bakeware and take out of oven, do not put cold water on a GLASS pan that just came out of the oven. Put warm or hot water in it. But these storage containers are great. Dishwasher safe, etc... Been using them for a year and the covers work perfect they do not slip off or whatever else I read. These rectangle ones are great and fit in the fridge great and stackable.

BYE BYE PLASTIC STORAGE CONTAINERS FOREVER....

Buy them, YOU WILL NOT REGRET it. Search for the other sets and get a bigger set with the round ones for a better deal.
I bought this because we like to make many dishes on one day and store them and use them throughout the week. Plastic is very dangerous to use in the microwave so I wanted something that was safe and saved me the trouble of using plastic and then transferring to another dish for heating. This works awesome because if I want to put it in the microwave I can but if I want to use it in the oven I can.

If you want an awesome food storage system that can also be used in cooking in a SAFE way--this is the set. The size of the pieces in this set can easily be used for main dishes and sides that feed at least 4 people. We like the smaller sizes as well as we will put single servings or just left overs in them.
I too bought these to replace all my plastic storage boxes. I use them mainly to store leftovers and hence prefer the rectangular shapes over the round ones. I purchased two sets. I had thougt that the medium size would be most useful, but ended up using the small one just as much. I am very satisfied with them. The glass is of good quality. The lids are good heavy rubber. Both the glass and lid are dishwasher safe. I microwave without the lids. The lids are not water-tight; not as tight as the round ones. But despite of that, I never have a spill in my frig in any case and the plus side is that the lids are easier to get on and off. I gave only 4 stars because they can be heavy on my frig shelves if I stack more than two. Glass storage is really the way to go: 1) much easier to wash than the plastic ones, 2) food stays fresher longer, 3) no ugly stains, 4) no worry about chemicals!
Due to recent news about BPA (harmful substance that can 'leach' from some plastic containers, esp. when heated) my wife and I decided to switch to glass. Bought both this set of 3 rectangular, and a set of 9 round, containers.

Both types of containers from Pyrex are solid and the plastic lids are heavy duty and fit well (though they can be a challenge to put on because of the tight fit.) The rectangular containers don't seem to get as much use, however...seem to be most useful for larger solid pieces of leftover food (e.g. chicken breast) and are somewhat shallower than the round containers. But very useful, very well designed.

One caveat: our new Labrador puppy got hold of one lid and started to chew -- we rescued before serious damage, but based on some limited online research, it appears that replacement lids are difficult to come by and expensive. Something to which I'd like to see a solution, because the Pyrex containers will almost certainly outlast the lids.
These Pyrex containers are GREAT! Not only because you can see what's inside, but they easily clean up&stack/nest for storage. Also, you don't have to worry about poisoning yourself when you microwave them (unlike when you microwave Tupperware&plastic containers).

This product works great - keeps the wine fresh and makes it easy to pour.
One year after purchase, the rubber seal stretched out of shape and would no longer fit in a bottle. I have not been impressed with Metrokane products, having had trouble with their openers, drip collars, and now pourers all being rendered useless in relatively short periods of time.
This product far exceeded my expectations! I buy the cheaper to Lambruscos, and because of my disability to a twist on caps are very hard for me. this product looked like it would be helpful, but we all know looks can be deceiving! I shoved the stopper in the bottle, and put the little cork in the stopper, then I put it in the fridge for a while. When I went to pour the wine, the Cork made a little popping sound so I knew it had sealed to wine in! I poured it over the sink, but it didn't spill a drop!
We really like the Metrokane Wine Pourer with Stopper -- works well and looks very attractive. Fits into the in-door refrigerator shelf for white wine -- not nearly as tall as some of the other stoppers. In fact, I've now purchased 8 more for Christmas stocking presents and use at our beach place.
I purchased this pourer/stopper for a small batch bottle of olive oil. I thought with the high reviews from the wine world that it would work equally well in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the oil is too thick to behave like wine so it will drip every time. Just wanted to let consumers know if they have the same thought I did.

I just purchased a 2nd beaker for my mother's birthday. It's become one of the most useful things in our kitchen. Alton's book -- where we found it -- is also great.
Several years ago I bought my first plastic beaker just like this one, except that it didn't have a lid. I have used it innumerable times to measure liquid ingredients---- so frequently that I leave it out within easy reach all of the time. Eventually it got clouded and scratched up, probably because I have used it quite often to measure boiling water and many other times to park sharp implements. Nevertheless, the markings are still very readable after all this time, and I will continue to use it, along with my brand new one. The lid that came with the new one comes in handy should I want to store something in one of the beakers in the refrigerator (for instance, leftover gravy). This is a great item!
I'd rather use this than any of my other measuring cups. It's diverse and wonderful!
I was dissapointed with this product. for the cost I expected it to be glass not cheap plastic. The lid is very hard to put on. Almost seems like the lid is too small for the beaker. Would not recommend at the price. Maybe if it was $2.00 then it would be worth it.

Like others, I feel this product is a piece of crap. It pours nothing but glasses of foam, regardless of how you pour the beer. If you like drinking foam, this is the perfect device for you.
This is a very cool product. I love having cold beer on the countertop anytime without using up refridgerator space. Setup is easy. I recommend getting extra plastic beer lines with purchase. I like Heineken just fine, but I do wish I could use the Beer Tender with other brands.
THERES NOT AS MUCH FOAM AS OTHERS ARE SAYING THERES SOME ON THE 1st GLASS BUT THE MANUAL SAYS THERE WILL BE SOME ON THE 1st FEW. THEY JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO POUR A BEER I DO , I'VE HELPED OUT MY BARTENDER AT TIMES POURING BEERS SO I'VE POURED ALOT OF BEERS. I bought this last year for my wife's birthday. I haven't had any trouble with its functionality, but I have the temperature set at 36 degrees and most of the time, it shows the beer at 39 degrees. Yes, every once and a while it shows the beer at 36 degrees, but that's rare and infrequent. Also, the volume indicator is as about reliable as the temperature control. Sometimes it reads¼ remaining after just pouring a few beers and other times I've poured 9 or 10 beers and it reads full. The only other complaint comes from my wife, since she's the one that drinks beer. She doesn't like the fact she has to drink Heineken all the times. She would like to switch it up with another beer every once in a while. Other than that, it's a good conversation piece and it's nice to pour your friends a cold one from the beertender, but, for the money--$300, it wasn't worth it. Its price point should be under $200.
This is a great, well made product that has no where to go but up. A simple attractive unit that dispenses a great beer. It is easy to set up, easy to use, easy to clean and "fun" to use.

It comes with everything but the keg. Now I hope Krups/ Heineken will license with other beer makers so I can enjoy and offer guests a variety of beers. That is why it gets 4 and not 5 stars!

Well, I wanted a measuring set with those in-between measurements we rarely get in a measuring set, and I got it! I haven't yet found another measurement I need so am very happy with this set.
Not mutch to say. It has all the measures you need. The holding chain could be better
got it, now i can collect a few other things b4 i start making deserts.
I was looking for a measuring spoons and cups with the labels raised in the plastic (as part of the plastic). I found that the labels printed on eventually fade away. I love to bake and cook and constantly having to wash the measuring spoons and cups was a bit annoying. I love this set and highly recommend it. It has the spoons and cups that one would regularly see in a recipe; 3 cups, 2 cups, pinch tsp, dash tsp,etc. If you bake and cook a lot, you will love this set. I don't care for the colors, but everything else is fine.

This was my first attempt at home brewing. The process is incredibly quick&easy since all you need to add is water - no need to buy your own hops, barley, etc since this all comes in the beer mix.

For optimal results, wait the full 4 weeks (if you have enough patience!). Let the initial mix sit for 2 weeks, and then let sit in the bottles for another 2 weeks for optimal flavor, alcohol content&carbonation.

The only negative is the top cover which is not water tight. You really need to thoroughly stir the beer mix or a lot of sentiment will float to the bottom which will take away from the flavor. But a lot of liquid seeps through the top during this process. Also, the included plastic bottles aren't very pretty to look at. I'd recommend going to Mr Beer's website&picking up some of their glass bottles with the flip tops.
I attended a party where there was homebrew and order this right away. The first batch was drinkable, but weak and sour tasting. I mixed with commercial beer, instead of dumping it. After taking the sanitary practices more seriously, and using making 7 qts instead of 8, the second was better, although a bit cloudy. Now I've ordered the 3-pack with growing confidence. Just have to remember to not move it before bottling, and use a metal (less bacterial contamination) tong for stirring.
This is a fabulous offer! It comes with two complete mixes, bottles, fermenter- everything you need to get started! A fun hobby!
Mr. Beer is outstanding. I made my first batch by following the instructions exactly, and I have 2 gallons of very good beer. It was easy, didn't take long, and there was no smell while it was brewing. It takes u almost no room. No matter how small your apartment, Mr. Beer will fit.
This is a good inexpensive and easy to use home brew kit. The only recommendation I would make is to go with the 2-2-2 principle. You should ferment for two weeks, carbonate for two weeks&condition for two weeks for best flavor. You can try it sooner but, it won't have the best flavor. Also, the deluxe refill packs are easier to use&they taste better. Furthermore, remember to sanitize everything that will come in contact with your brew and enjoy your beers!

If you're a fan of Alton Brown at all, this is a must-have. I think our cooking even tastes better now that we have a cool container for our kosher salt!
I was looking for something I could pinch salt out of, that had a lid. This is perfect because I can pick it up and open the lid with just one hand is great. It's well made and looks good on the counter. I never use the spoon.

I'll admit, the fact that Alton Brown uses these did help me decide to pick one up.
This is NOT the one Alton Brown uses on his Foodtv Good Eats show. I bought the real one he uses from another seller on here. Do a search for Alton Brown Salt Cellar and you will see the REAL one. Special box and packaging for the real one.

This is a nice little salt server (can be used for other things as well). It looks professional and is easy to handle. I love it.
