To give you an idea of how hot this thing gets, the plate is warm enough that it *could* burn you if you left your hand on it, but will not burn with a quick touch.』
(Good but not great) 『The Mr Coffee Mug Warmer is good, but it is not great. Several reviewers have commented that it does not keep their coffee warm. I have found that it does a good job at keeping the coffee temperature near where it starts, but does let it cool down over a few hours. This does reduce the number of trips to the coffee pot, and the times I sip coffee that is cold. Here are some suggestions for improvement: (1) The power switch and power indicator lamp are on the back, behind the coffee cup. When you get up to leave for the day, it is hidden by the coffee cup. Bad move. These things need to be turned off at night, even if they pose no fire hazard. Move the lamp to the front. (2) Instead of a slide switch, how about a push button. Push once, and it goes on, giving us what we have now. Push again, you get a higher temperature. Push again, it goes off. A multicolored LED indicator would be useful here (amber for normal, red for hot). These improvements would make a good coffee warmer great!』

I chose this particular one for the proclaimed durability and washability. I use my thermometer every day, and love being able to clean it easily and knowing it's okay to get it wet. The stainless steel is a great look, and after dropping it a couple times it still looks and works like new. Durability and washability proven! I'm sorry to say, however, I have a couple complaints. The holder/sheath became useless after literally just one day. Whatever they put inside the plastic hollow tube holder to keep the thermometer in place must have become dislodged and lost because the thermometer no longer stays in place, but free-floats and slides right out. I stopped using the holder for this reason, and due to the high durability, I decided it would be safe in my apron pocket. A good idea in theory, but the design of the thermometer and weight of the stainless steel makes for a very top heavy product, causing the thermometer to want to "jump" out of the apron pocket. A solution for this would be to store the thermometer "pointy side up" in my apron pocket, but just that thought alone causes me to wince, as I think that would hold greater potential for poking injuries. I hear some of you naysayers chuckling, but I'm honestly trying to be serious here... (Picture the thermometer upside down in your front apron pocket, and you bend down or bend over to pick something off the floor.) I would still recommend this thermometer, however, as durability and washability are tops in my book!!』
(Better than previous model) 『I bought this to replace the CDN ProAccurate I dropped and broke. The tip on the previous model was covered in a thin epoxy that chipped off when the thermometer hit the floor tip first. The new one is metal to the tip making it better protected but slightly slower than the original. This inexpensive instant-read thermometer gives a close reading in just a couple of seconds and a very accurate reading a few seconds later. I wanted something that I could check steaks and roasts without burning my hands over an outdoor grill. For roasts in the oven I use a thermometer that stays in the meat and sends the signal to a unit outside the oven. I highly recommend this little unit unless you have bucks to burn and want something faster. The best one on the market that I've found is used by Alton Brown on his show and sells for about $80. This CDN model is about 80% as good at 20% of the price. By the way, after I knew this one was coming, I cleaned up the tip of the old one and put a thin layer of epoxy on the tip. Now I have two and like both of them very much. The two readings are identical in a glass of hot water.』

I compared it side-by-side with my trusty old Taylor thermometer. The CDN reads quickly and accurately, and the huge digital fonts are easy on the eyes. (Great quick-read thermometer) 『This is the new version of the CDN Proaccurate Stainless Digital Thermometer, which is very well reviewed on Amazon. That model (DTQ450) has been discontinued and replaced with this model (DTQ450X). This is the first quick-read thermometer I've owned for cooking. If you don't have a quick-read, I highly recommend it. Traditional thermometers can take up to a minute to read temperature. This CDN model provides a temperature reading within about 2-3 seconds. That is extremely convenient compared to a traditional thermometer. The form factor is fairly nice. The thermometer is small (6.5" long), and the readout is not too big, maybe a little larger than a quarter. The buttons are easy to press and the readout is easy to view. The stem is made of stainless steel and it feels fairly solidly built. It can be switched between metric and English units as well.
When actually using the thermometer, don't stick the entire stem into your food like I did for a week. It will give you an inaccurate reading. Just place the very tip of the stem in your food about 1/2" in and it will read. The only possible problem I can see with this is that you might not be able to check the temperature in the very middle of your food if you have a thick piece of meat.

Why buy another Cuisinart? Because we enjoy the process of loading the beans into the grinder, water in the tank, setting the timer, and then let 'er rip!
Hey, you can think of it as a two purpose tool, because when the timer starts the grind, it grinds the beans are a given, but the ruckus of the grind is a great alarm clock!
The only snoozers in our house that sleep through the ruckus are our dog Jake and cat Izzy.

(Many improvements over the DGB-600BC) 『We had a DGB-600BC and used it daily for about 4 years. The grinder assembly finally seized and we could no longer remove it. We had been looking around for a new coffee maker, anyway, so we went ahead and bought this one (DGB-650BC) at a local store.
We've been using it for a couple weeks now and it makes a fine cup of coffee, just like the last one did. I noticed right away, that a few things that turned out to be issues with the last model had been fixed or improved upon with this one.
1) The grinder compartment is much better separated from the water reservoir and also designed better for all the grounds to go into the filter basket. The older model always left a bit of a mess, both in the grinder compartment and on the little shelf that separated the filter basket from the coffee pot, and around the burner plate. I haven't seen any of that mess with this model. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.
2) The little shelf I spoke about in #1 is now gone. That's a plus. Since this maker is designed better, it isn't needed anyway. Also, this shelf caused build up around the door latch making it hard to shut after a very short time. I'm glad it's gone.
3) The filter basket door mechanism is far better designed. The old model I had to slam shut, sometimes repeatedly, before it would stay shut. This one has a much better and more sturdy hinge mechanism and latch.
4) New to this model (the old one didn't have this) is a window on the side so you can see how much water you're pouring in. It's clearly marked and has a red floating ball to make it easy to see. I really like this feature.
The grinder seem a little louder than the old one, but I've never met a coffee grinder that wasn't loud and it's only for a very short time. I love having freshly ground coffee first thing in the morning.
As far as cleanup goes for the grinding assembly and filter basket, it only takes a minute or two. Aside from the coffee pot itself, there are 5 pieces to clean and it really is quick and easy to empty the filter basket and rinse the pieces.
In short, this is fine coffee maker, much improved from the DGB-600BC, and I am happy we upgraded to it.』

This is my third digital pressure cooker, and the best built one I've owned. It comes up to pressure quickly and cooks very well. This pressure cooker is very easy to use and clean. I use it to make just about everything that would ordinarily be braised (just cook 1/3 of the time given in the recipe). It's also great for steaming vegetables, making rice, soups/stocks, and mashed potatoes.
The great thing about a digital pressure cooker is that you don't have to monitor it as you would a traditional stovetop model. It automatically stops cooking&goes to "keep warm" mode when the time gets to zero. This digital model has brown, saute and simmer modes in addition to two pressure modes (high&low). This is great because you can use it to brown the meat or saute vegetables.
One thing to keep in mind in purchasing a digital pressure cooker is the availability of parts&that's an area where Cuisinart excels. This pressure cooker also has a three year warranty!
If you've never used a pressure cooker, I recommend purchasing a good pressure cookbook. In addition to recipes, the right cookbook will provide hints for using the pressure cooker as well as cooking times for many foods. (Why didn't they think of this before) 『I received this for Christmas 20008 and have been using it for almost 10 months. Before I received this I found pressure cookers too much work and too dangerous to use. This appliance removes those problems. However, this appliance is not without a quirk of its own--i.e. you must make sure the float valve is clean and free moving before you start cooking or the appliance will shut off before it finishes cooking. Keep the float valve clean and you'll love your pressure cooker.』
(Poor quality, bad custom service) 『I bought this on August 29, 2009. I found the exterior non-stick layer on the bottom of the cooking pot started to peel off after I used for three times. I also saw stains on the bottom of the outer body (peeled non-stick layer). So I took the pictures and email them to the custom service. However, I was requested to send the pot back at my own cost, and I also should be responsible for the return shipping. I think the pictures I took were clear enough for the replacement, especially considering the problem came out within less than one month of purchasing. Their strategy is to wear out your patience and then take advantage of it. So disgusting!』
(Don't Buy This!) 『The first couple of times I used this, it was great. Since then the little pop up valve won't pop up, at least for a long time. All the while there is a lot of steam escaping around the valve. The instructions that come with this thing are worthless. The troubleshooting section says the solution to this problem...well, they actually don't tell you how to fix it, but they say it's a problem with the push rod hanging up the little pop up valve. Unless you have X-ray vision and can see thru metal, it's impossible to say how this causes the hang up and what the solution might be. Do you push the rod in, or let it be extended to the exterior more. Those are your only two options. Do you hold the rod to the extended position while you clamp on the lid? Impossible to say.
The result of all this is that steam escapes for awhile and sometimes the popup happens (once all the liquid has escaped and your food has now boiled, making it impossible to judge how long to now cook it). Sometimes it boils like that forever and you never do get an effective seal. You can't tell whether it's going to work on any given occasion or not.
I find myself using the word "impossible" a lot here, and that is the single best description of this product. I wish I hadn't bought it. I also invested in several cookbooks (good ones!) and that is a waste as well, since you need a pressure cooker to make pressure cooked food.
When you pay this much for a product, it's reasonable to expect a decent manual and something that works!』
(Great multi use cooker too!) 『I have been using this pressure cooker for over a year now and I LOVE it. I've used the old pressure cookers...presto..mirro...canners and 4-6 qt cookers for 50 years...but I LOVE this new Cuisinart. Main reason I love it...it is pretty fool proof so far as accidentally walking off and forgetting your cooking and scorching things. This auto kicks into a warm mode at end of programmed cooking time so that problem is solved! It is also less scarey to the younger folk that heard about NaNa's pot of beans blowing up. LOL. Seriously, I've personally never had a OLD or new pressure cooker blow up in 50 years. This electric pressure cooker just can't accidently get too hot and blow because of the safty features.
It is VERY easy to learn how to use the electric control settings. It gives you many options such as saute, brown or use it basically as a slow cooker (you do have to do a bit of experimenting to use it as a slow cooker). This baby came into it's own last holiday. I was too tired to mess with pressuring the turkey carcass after dinner for soup then having to figure out how to find room for the broth, etc overnight. I cut carcass in half..stuffed into pressure cooker...set it to pressure at low for a short time period...let it auto kick into warm/simmer mode and went to bed. Got up to a "slow cooker" full of broth and just went to making a hearty stew for the young-uns lunch. Worked GREAT. Only issue I have is that I doubt this cooker will last as long as the traditional stovetop cookers have simply because of the design, electronics and inside non-stick pot. Despite this issue...I think it is a great choice for folks new and old to have in their kitchen if you have the space. Needs less water added to cooker since this baby does not evaporate liquid like the older cookers do. I don't understand why there is a lag of 1-3 months for Amazon to ship this item...I'd have bought another one for a X-mas gift for a son TODAY if I knew I would get it before XMAS. The one I have I got with my credit card reward points SOOOO I didn't mind a short wait to get it. I still plan to buy one for my son...just not going to plan for a Xmas arrival. LOL! First, the capacity (12-30 cups) is based on the assumption that a cup is 5 ounces in size. That's really small - an official "cup" is 8 ounces, and most people use a 10 ounce coffee mug. So, you should probably think of it as more of an "8-15 cup capacity" machine.
Second, the owner's manual recommends how much ground coffee to use in the pot - these recommendations gave me VERY strong coffee. It may take some experimenting to come up with the right recipe.』
