I don't really like this Bacon Press. It's not the greatest thing.
It's easily rust,even greased, awkward to use, and doesn't fit any size frying pan well. It stays in my cabinet.
We cook tremendous quantities of bacon (because it is the only source of protein that one of our sons will eat). Our son insists that the bacon be extra extra crispy (if it will bend, he won't eat it) therefore a bacon press is a necessity.

Pros:
1. Wooden handles stay cool
2. Heavy enough to do their job very effectively.
3. Bottom surface flat enough that they can be used on non-stick surfaces (unlike some others that have decorative ridges that make cleaning difficult and chew up non-stick surfaces).

Cons:
1: As with all cast iron cooking items, special care needs to be taken when washing to prevent rusting.
2. "Textured" bottoms make cleaning more difficult than it needs to be (but I haven't found any bacon presses with perfectly flat bottoms).
3. We cook on a large electric griddle and an extra inch or two in length would increase their effectiveness a great deal. If you are cooking in a frying pan or small griddle they are probably sized correctly.
I bought this for my boyfriend that likes to cook!! He loves and I agree, it is great. Will probably get another one!!
Someone didn't think things through on this. There's a "Bacon Press" design on the bottom surface that has all sorts of irregular nooks and crannies, it's a pain in the behind to clean. The round bacon press by Norpro is much better (though a bit big for some situations) because the bottom surface is just ridged to give that striped "grilled look".

I don't know why that design is not on the top surface instead of on the bottom. Just plain dumb.
It is only 6 1/2" in length. I thought it would be longer since bacon is cut approx. 10" so you have to keep moving it around. The weight is good.
Short on time? Handy press will cook your bacon in half the time.
Bacon curls while frying, making it difficult to cook evenly. Long ago, cooks found a simple solution to this problem: hold bacon to its proper shape by flattening it with a heavy, cast-iron press. Norpro's press hews to that tradition. It's made of traditional cast iron and has a wooden handle that stays cool while the press is in use. For speeding up the bacon-frying process, the press can be preheated--also preheat it when you're flattening hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, or quesadillas. Season the press by coating it with oil and heating it for 20 minutes; after cleaning it in soapy water, it should also be lightly coated with vegetable oil to prevent rust.--Fred Brack

1. The product description includes "Made in USA." It is not. It is made in China--at least according to the box it came in.

2. Before buying this product, I looked around the Internet to try to find the weight of stainless steel. At parkers-pantry.com, I found the following in addition to the product description posted at Amazon:

4. After using the poacher once, I found the bottom surface became pitted.

I would not recommend this product.
What I would like to see is a instruction book on how to use your product.

I bought it as a Christmas gift, therefore, I do not know if it is "working" as of now. Though I am sure all of the parts were there and were in the condition that was stated. Great idea for those who like to go OUT to eat at places that have a "cold stone" to smoosh icecream on. ;)

I use these whisks everyday for small jobs like scrambling an egg. I've only had them a month so we will see if they stand the test of time and don't rust. I'm expecting good results since they are supposed to be stainless steel.
My husband is the real cook in the family and uses his wisks all the time but really wanted some small ones. He absolutely loves these little wisks!
I would not be able to work in my kitchen without these mini-whisks. They are so convenient for whipping up anything. These are excellent quality and work wonderfully.
I've been looking for a mini whisk, but had no luck in the local stores. I just missed out on another seller who had just the larger of these two sizes so I took a chance. I drink hot chocolate and have found a whisk works better than a spoon or those coffee stirrer sticks. I have one at home and wanted more for work and the camper. I'm using the smaller one at work and it's okay, just a bit on the short side.
I bought htese fir a craft project so I do not know how well the are for kitchen use.
For a quick whip or stir of salad dressing or dipping sauces, these are the whisks to use. They're made from dishwasher-safe 18/10 stainless steel. Set includes one 5-in. and one 7-in. length whisk.
