The best I've seen) 『Folks, There's so much written about the Tom TOm ONE version THREE that I'm not going to repeat over and over and over the -same'ole same'ole- I've had 4 navigation systems thus far, some pretty expensive ones. The Tom Tom 1v3 is ahead of the pack, it's loade with features and is likely one of the the best supported free online downloaded update units on the market... It's very intuitive and is easy to operate. The menus are well designed and they obviously kept in mind the last thing you want to do is sit in your car and punch a gps for hours to get where you want to go. THis is a breeze to setup, to make a route, and to change the route. There are more downloaded options (both free and paid) than you will have time to research and the user to user map update is genius.
LIke I said, I've had a few of these but I though I'd write this review for you just before buying my 2nd and 3rd unit (for my wife's car and my motorcycle). This is truly a really well designed product and it is a polished product and it's a natural in how you interface to it. SOme navigators I've used present options and flow in strange and unsetteling ways... not the tom tom 1 v3, it's menu setup is cleanly arranged exactly as you would naturally want to do things, and the flow.. it's smooth.

My experience tells me that this TomTom is great for people who want something that is simple to use as a GPS, i.e. no fancy stuff, just give me the directions and go go go.
The one feature I really like (and I couldn't find it in iGo nor Mio) is that TomTom can generate alternate routes - Just press the "Generate alternate routes (I forgot the exact phrase, something like that)" button repeatedly until you see one that you are comfortable with. This feature is especially useful when I go on local roads (cuz sometimes their first recommended route is just too complicated).
Also, when you are at the map, press the lower left hand blue box once, you can adjust the volume. No need to go to the main menu.

(Any level runner will love a Garmin!) 『I am quite new to running and this is my first GPS device. I just got it last night and have only done 1 run with it, so I can't comment on its longevity, but at this moment I can't ever imagine running without one again. It's small and light, you don't notice you're wearing it. The displays are easy to read and programming it is intuitive, though the manual is simple and helpful if you need it. How wonderful to, in a single glance, see my running time, pace and distance! You can customize the display to show a variety of other measurements as well, such as best pace, average pace, speed (current, average and best), laps, etc. I am just a jogger and have never been good at judging my own speed; now I can tell where I am at all times and adjust according to my own goals for that run. You can save your courses and run them against "yourself" as the Garmin remembers previous runs on the same course to compare on the fly. It tracks through foliage just fine and only "lost" me for a few seconds at a time in heavy trees.
This equipment is so helpful in training for any level of run, from my little slow 5Ks to top marathon runners. Anyone will benefit from the accuracy and simplicity of this device. Don't think you have to be an elite runner to deserve one, it will improve your time and your fitness no matter where you're starting. Design The 205's design is a radical departure from Garmin's previous generation of wrist mounted GPS devices, which reached a pinnacle with the Garmin Forerunner 301. While the 301 delivered accurate heart rate monitoring, good performance tracking, and decent GPS reception, it didn't quite deliver in the design department. The form factor was bulky and wearing it wasn't much different than duct taping a full-sized GPS device to your wrist.
Not so with the 205. Garmin's engineers obviously burned the midnight oil and have come up with a waterproof design that, while certainly not as small as a sports watch, feels just as comfortable. The curved casing allows the unit's antenna to face the sky when you're running, while the widescreen display is perfectly positioned for viewing when you need it. And the display certainly deserves a few kudos. While it's smaller than the display found on previous Forerunners, its resolution is far higher, offering incredible clarity and crispness.
Garmin has smartly given the 205 a simple button layout and the buttons have a nice tactile feel with good pressure response. The right side houses the menu selection and enter buttons, while the left houses a power/backlight button and a mode button. This simple and elegant solution is a big improvement over the sometimes confusing button functionality of previous Forerunners. View button layout.
The underside of the 205 is pretty nondescript, except for a row of contacts that interface with the included charging and data cradle. The cradle is small and unobtrusive and its single mini-USB port connects to either an included AC adapter, or a USB cable that connects to your PC. In addition to data transfer with the USB cable, you can also charge the 205's embedded lithium-ion battery via a powered USB connection from your computer.
GPS Performance The big news about the Forerunner 205 is that it features an integrated, high-sensitivity SiRFstar III GPS receiver. What does this mean? It means that the 205's ability to both track, and maintain a lock on, your position is better than anything before it. After an intial battery charge, our product tester had the 205 on his wrist and was tracking speed and distance with GPS satellites within 3 minutes. The next time we used the 205, satellite acquisition was nearly instantaneous. A run through dense trees didn't faze the unit either; tracking remained true and steady. Performance on a bike was equally impressive. Whatever witchcraft has been cooked up by the designers of the SiRF technology, we like it!

While the Forerunner 205 isn't billed as a GPS navigation device, it does have some rudimentary mapping, waypoint marking, and routing capabilities. In addition to marking locations along your journey, you can zoom in or out of a simple map that displays your current direction and path. There's also a "go to location" feature that routes you back to your starting location, or to any location you have defined. Once you have defined several locations, you can save this information as a route, allowing you to travel the same path in the future. As you'll see below, the 205's new "Courses" feature gives you new levels of control over how you define your favorite runs and rides.
Training Functions The 205 is first and foremost a training tool, and its ability to organize a ton of data types into a user experience that is intuitive and simple is no small feat. Whiz-bang technology aside, if you can't use it and make it a natural part of your exercise routine, it's worthless. When it comes to these factors -- and here's the take home message on the 205 -- this device is successful where many other devices fail.
The heart and soul of the 205 can be found on the data screens, which give you real-time information about all aspects of your workout. In fact, the 305 can display a dizzying array of data, such as calories burned, distance, elevation, grade, and heading, as well as multiple lap and pace modes.
Thankfully, the device makes it easy to define how much or how little data you want to view during a workout. You can arrange the data that's most important to you and then make that data appear front and center on the device. Indeed, within a few minutes of skimming the manual and fiddling with the device setup, you'll have your most important data displaying just the way you like it.
Garmin's Virtual Partner function was cool feature of previous Forerunners and they've decided to keep a good thing going with the 205. If you're the type that performs best when you've got a competitor egging you on, you'll love this function, as it allows you to set up virtual running or biking companions that compete against you.
If you're looking for an complicated workout with a variety of intervals and intensity levels, or just a quick three-mile jog against your best time last week, the 205 has you covered. Navigating to the Workouts menu on the device yields three options: Quick Workouts, Interval, and Advanced Workout. A quick workout is just that; set the distance and time, distance and pace, or time and pace of your planned workout and off you go. Interval workouts are just the same, but they allow you to add repetitions and rest between them. When you really want to get fancy with your exercise, you can step up to advanced workouts, which include goals for each workout step, as well as varied distances, times, and rest periods. You can use the Garmin Training Center software to set up these workouts and then upload them to the device.
PC Connectivity and Software Garmin has been outfitting their devices with USB connectivity for some time now -- a welcome move for those who struggled with serial port connections in the days of yore. Thanks to USB, the 205 integrates seamlessly with the Training Center software and we quickly had workout history uploaded and stored on the PC (Sadly, Training Center is not Mac-compatible).
In a first for the Forerunner series, the Training Center software also lets you define courses on your PC that you can upload to the device. When course information is combined with uploaded workout information, the Forerunner becomes a complete guide, telling you where to go, when to make a turn, and what kind of workout to do when you're on the road or path. Back on the PC, the software's ability to overlay workout data on maps of the course makes it easy to see where the course offers up the tough hills and the easy recovery spots. Plus, the ability to track historical performance on a given course is a great way to measure your improvement.
The 205 is also fully compatible with Garmin's MotionBased service, which takes your training to another level by connecting your data with the Internet. While we weren't able to use the service, the promise of sharing courses, maps, workouts, and performance data with other users is intriguing. And if you're a serious endurance athlete, you'll be glad to know that the 205 is also compatible with TrainingPeaks.com, an easy-to-use web based training system designed to help athletes train for any event.

(addictive fun) We played this game at a relative's house and decided we HAD to get one for ourselves. Since then we have shared it with others who decided the same thing.
What is great about it is that kids can play along and reap the educational benefit without it really affecting the fun for the older players.

(Just a whole lot of laughs!) My one complaint is the lack of spaces between the gamers. Everything else is quite nice for non active kids of this day, and age. Though I would recommend an open area to play. The bigger the better, and soft for falls. Carpets verse hardwood or title floors. If, playing, outside keep mat on a level surface. Avoid locations with tripping hazards, or little room to move. I was surprised when my kids wanted this toy. They like playing it and I'm sure you already know the game since it has been around for quite some time. Twister is a fun game especially for kids but of course adults can play, too. It also gives younger kinds the opportunity to identify colors and work on their coordination. Twister is a bit crazy but an awful lot of fun.
Someone (perhaps an adult) spins the wheel and people playing the game take turns placing their right or left hands and their right and left feet on the different colors (green, yellow, blue and red) on the mat. The game usually results in kids laughing and having fun while they play the game; and I doubt that a parent would mind spinning the wheel so the kids can some fun.
Although people can play this game anyway they want, usually the person who keeps their hands and feet everywhere they should be the longest wins the game. Players can be disqualified for not placing their hands and feet on the correct different colored dots on the Twister mat. As other reviewers note, it is a lot of fun for the adults to watch the kids try to keep up with the game!
The game is also easy to store. The Twister game mat, which is made of plastic, folds up neatly into a comparatively small mat that can be stored on a shelf or in the box along with the spinning wheel that comes with this game.
Overall, I highly recommend this game for younger children and the kids in all of us. It's inexpensive and a lot of fun. With proper care the spinning wheel never breaks and the Twister mat is relatively long lasting, too.
Purchased this for my son, daughter-in-law, and young grandchildren for Christmas and it was a great hit with the entire family, something that everyone can participate in. The board changes arrangement every time you play, and there are several strategies that can be employed to win. This is a particularly good game for groups of 4. (Possibly more, with one of the expansion packs.) This game is so much fun! My 9 year old loves it. It's great for teaching strategy. It's a completely different game every time you play it. I recommend this game to everyone. Collaborative interactive board game. Unlike games such as monopoly and risk where players attack and manipulate one another. As with previous printings, this version of Catan is a very nice looking high quality product.

On the Road to Settlement The game rules and almanac booklet sets out four pages of guidelines for getting started. Don't worry, the rules are straightforward and the four pages include plenty of illustrations. There's a starting map that shows a well-balanced set-up for beginners to follow and directions that allow more advanced players to lay out the map of the island at random. You'll have to pop the die-cut components of the game out of their cardboard holders before you play your first game.
The almanac portion of the booklet is laid out alphabetically, so while playing you can find answers to specific questions quickly. Useful entries remind you exactly what role pieces like the robber play, how actions like maritime trade work, and how to set up the board or finish the game.
Exploring and Developing Catan The board consists of 19 terrain hexes surrounded by the ocean. Each type of terrain produces a different type of resource: brick, wool, ore, grain or lumber. There's also a desert hex that produces no resources. As the game progresses, players use resources to build roads along the edges of these hexes and settlements or cities on the intersections where three hexes meet. Each player begins the game with two settlements and two roads.
Each player's roll of the dice causes certain hexes to produce resources, which you collect if you have a settlement on one of them. (Absolutely LOVE it...........When it works) First I have to say I love my Kindle.
I have been watching and waiting for a long time. I like to be trendy and get the cool new "toys" that come out, but with the Kindle I waited a bit as it was a pretty high ticket item to buy and not like.
I did my research, and I broke down and got my Kindle last week.
I have not looked back. After using it and reading 3 books(On my 4th book now) in less than a week I can say without question I'm in love.
I love the ability to download a book where ever I am, without having to be tied down to a computer.
The display is GREAT for reading. I find I'm able to read faster than normal "print" books. The delay I have seen people complain about when "turning" pages is not really that long. I have gotten so used to reading from the Kindle that I can auto tell when to hit the next page button without even a pause in reading, and it's fast and seamless.
The "Flicker" that people has complained about is nothing. If I had to guess it's the kindle's way of clearing the screen to prep for a new page.
The battery life is GREAT! I don't leave mine in internet mode for longer than it takes to look for something and download it, or to quickly grab my news paper off line. It lasts for hours and hours of reading. I have to say it never really gotten below half battery before I'm done using it for the day and cut it off and charge it.
The selection is great! I have not really found a book I could think of (I did some searching my first go to see if I had any authors I like that were not available on the kindle) that was not available for download. The thing that really sold me was a new book series I discovered I like. I bought book one for the great Amazon price. Then I added all 8 of the other books to my cart after I liked the first and cringed at the 130 buck price tag. I thought hey I wonder how much all this would cost if I got a Kindle and sure enough it was less than 60 bucks. I ordered my Kindle shortly after that.
I only have 2 things I don't like about the Kindle.
The first being the next page buttons are so easy to mash. I have paused in reading to do something or talk to someone and bump the next page button so often. It only takes a second to get back and I guess I'm kind of glad they made it where you can hold it an many positions and turn the page so it's not so much of a issue as it kind of get on your nerves at times.
The second is I wish I could clean up my home page better. I would be so happy if I could only view items say I have downloaded to my Kindle, not what I have on my SD card. That way I can keep things I'm currently reading on my kindle and those I'm not in Storage on my SD card. I might have like missed the memo about how to do this but as of yet I can't find a way to not view my entire collection of books at one time on the home page. I can always take the items off my kindle and SD card and store them on Amazon but I kind of like the idea of having tons of reading material in one place ready to use at a moment's notice. So again Humm not really a bad complaint but more of a minor issue.
In all if you love to read, BUY a Kindle. Its great and I can't say enough how much I enjoy reading again.
I just received my Kindle a few days ago and started reading one of the books I pre-purchased. In three words: I love it! I have a spur in my elbow, plus I do heavy lifting at work which aggravates my elbow and makes lifting my hard cover books very difficult to do without using both hands. The Kindle has solved my problem. I'm a real book lover and all my favorite books are in hard cover. Giving up reading them was not an option I was willing to do so Kindle is a God send for me. Simply, the Kindle is much better in person than just reading about it or hearing about alleged downsides. Without adding to the endless back and forth, I just want to point out two things:
- The kindle is great for the multi-reader. I love being able to read one chapter, close the book, and start another chapter from a previous book. The variety keeps the mind going and interest high. Once I start reading my Kindle, you practically have to tear me away from it.
- No small feat, the Kindle is a left-handed reader's dream. Nothing easier than holding the kindle in its book cover with your left hand and flipping pages. It feels natural and just 'fits.'
Bottom Line: The Kindle must be experienced, not read about. I purchased my Kindle last January for $399. I have used it every day since with no problems or issues. I never read with the cover on because it is lighter without it. Learning where to hold it without pressing page buttons took a day or so. No big deal. I took it to the beach and read in the hot sun with no pages to blow or heavy books to hold. I read the newspaper in bed first thing without getting up. Downloaded several free books that I probably wouldn't have chosen otherwise and discovered new authors. Great for avid readers. Love the type changer. When it's late and I'm tired I just make the print bigger. Bought the little black book light advertised with it. Good addition. Buy it, you'll love it.. I am now awaiting my fourth kindle. The following is the problems that I have had happen.
First Kindle (crashed/froze several times a day) Second Kindle (Wireless didn't work) Third Kindle (worked great for a bit then the screen went all black on me) Fourth Kindle (hopefully will work perfectly)
All of this has happened since June of this year. So basically either I am incredibly unlucky, or the current kindle is a Beta that has issues. I love everything about the kindle (cheap books, comfortable holding, great capacity, easy on the eyes to read, great for travel, relatively cheap) It is an absolutely great product...when it works! I have recommended it to many people and still would, but it is very frustrating to deal with the replacement process so frequently. (Though I should note that the kindle hotline people are very, very helpful and kind. This should be the standard for the helpline industry, but unfortunately it is not. (A lot of storage in a little package...) I bought this memory from a vendor at Amazon. I had some issues with the memory from the beginning, but you know how it goes, I let time pass. After I finally got around contacting the vendor, they refuse to help me saying that the warranty with them had elapsed. So, I contacted Kingston. They were curious about the behavior of my memory and they asked me to sent it to them. I was counterfeit. Even the color of the stick did not match the color of their 2 GB!! (should be lime, it was purple). Kingston asked me for all the paperwork about this purchase, which I did. They in turn sent me a Real Kingston Data Traveler 2 GB USB Drive. I have not had any problems with the real flash drive. Wow these are awsome thumb drives, flash drives or what ever you want to call them. I think that I ended up with somewere around 12 of them and they are great drives. My family was saving caps and box tops for me and I spent hours at night putting in all those codes but well worth the time. I bought 2 of these to play mp3s on my car FM Modulator. One of them died after about a week. I first thought it was the FM Modulator that died, but, that is still thriving with other USBs. Piece of junk. Not worth the money, even if it is cheap. (great value for a fraction of the price) Product arrived on time and as described, however I am not too happy with the quality.
Since plugging up this cable I have noticed some scan lines occasionally appearing especially when picture is static. I am not sure if this is a problem with the cable or my TV itself, but I did not have these lines when using component cables. I'll have to give another brand of cable a try to diagnose the signal noise. If its the cable, I really can't complain since the price was so low. You get what you pay for. Others seem to have no complaints with the cable so I certainly wouldn't dissuade anyone from giving the cable a try for the price it's at. The cable works great! I would never recommend purchasing HDMI cables from circuit city type stores unless you just want to throw away money. However, the item was supposed to ship right away by priority mail but I didn't receive it until 17 days later. When I contacted the vendor they gave me a $5 credit towards $18 shipping fee. Still $13 was too much to pay for the slowest mail service available in the US Why would you spend over 25 dollars for this cable? I don't know but I'm sure you have before. We have all gone to your near by electronics store to purchase the specific cabling you need for your particular setup and decided on what you want but right before you can grab it and get on with your day someone in a Blue or Red shirt come out of know where and offer some advise. Before you know it your looking at gold plated "miracle" cables that work like Magic. Sorry to say I used to be one of those guys except in a suit and tie and selling cables that no ordinary Joe could afford. I will be straight up with you, there is no difference between those 100 dollars + cables and this "cheapy". HDMI is a digital signal so it isn't degraded over either distance or impeded due to shielding or what they call "quality". Instead it is sent via digital coding "binary code" and is either there 100% or not at all. Same with a toslink or optical cable. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE A 500 DOLLAR OR 5 DOLLAR CABLE. Trust me.
(Saving my data) WOW, I ordered two of theese cards for my new Canon HF Vixia 100 HD Camcorder, they work flawlessly! I was reluctant to purchase these cards because some folks report problems with read/write errors. I wonder if this is a "user problem" or truly a manufacturing defect. In the end I purchased them because for 12.00 per card VS. 49.00 for the Sandisk, i figured it was worth the chance...so far I am laughing all the way to the bank :). Fantastic value for the cost. I can put so much stuff on this SD card. Great companion for a PDA. I noticed the different on start up (from off to shoot) of my camera after changing to use this 2.0 class 6 memory card! I recommend it to anyone :)

This 8GB SDHC memory card works well with my digital camera, camcorder, and a few readers/writers. I did not have any compatibility issues and no reading/writing errors as well. Writing speed is in range of 4-5MB/s with average (for large file) about 4.25MB/s and reading speed is about twice that. Writing about 8GB to this card takes about 30 min and reading about 20 min. I expected better writing and reading speeds from this class 6 SDHC card. However, this speeds are sufficient for major use of this flash card to store images and video from camera and camcorder. It does what it was designed to do! In these modern times, computers with windows&hard drives are wonderous miracles, but some of our computers crash,&since these little memory chips can remember for at least ten years, we can now save our favorite little programs,&data, that could be easily lost. If we overload our computer&we must do recovery, that will only erase the C drive, and the memory chip is safe from recovery. Cd's are also great for saving files, if kept in a safe place, but a scratch may destroy what you were saving. If your computer has a place for memory chips, then great, but many have a USB port, you can get a card reader,&begin to save anything that you dont want to loose, on a little memory chip like this one. (Great for screen protection!) The screen protector does not fit the Nintendo DS lite touch-screen properly, basically it does not cover the entire screen. The product is of poor quality (I guess you get your money's worth). I had trouble putting it on without getting air bubbles between the screen protector and the touch screen.
Someone mentioned that it was too thick and did not detect the stylus, I cannot comment on that, because since I LOST the battle with the Air-Bubbles, I took the screen protector off completely without trying it out.
It's cheap but doesn't work for the bottom screen. It comes in two sizes, one that would fit the top screen and one that would fit the bottom screen but the screen protector for the bottom screen is too thick for stylus detection. I put it on and couldn't play with my DS but luckily it uses static to stick on the screen instead of glue so I was able to use duct tape to peel it off. These protectors were very easy to get on without any air bubbles unlike most other screen protectors I've tried. This is a great product. Bought this product and was worried it may not work on my cellphone screen because the item is intended for Nintendo Lite. I know nothing about video game gadgets screens. The actual package received doesnt reference Nintendo at all and I was relieved. It is just a universal clear screen guard for similar size specs. Guard protects my samsung cell screen ok with unavoidable air bubbles but NO sticky residue. These screen protectors make it easier to write on the screen and they may be a little better than the ones that came with the Nintendo DS Lite! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the shipping and handling is a little high! (It's zelda, nough said!) It has been a month after the estimated date my items would have reached me and they haven't. Can you check on this??? Unfortunately, I bought this cd specifically for the NES and Ocarina of Time songs. Sadly, I found that the NES songs were merely bad remixes. The Ocarina of Time songs were intact, but about half of them were not present. The rest of the songs were great though. I would recommend this cd UNLESS you are in it for the NES songs. I ordered this CD all the way from Hong Kong.When I finaly got it it only worked for my CD player,but that's no big deal.I love ALL the tracks.They chose them very well.My favorite is the Hyrule Overture from A Link to the Past.But the CD already has a scratch(I've had it 2 weeks and I AM very careful)but it can be fixed.All in all this deserves the title of best Zelda soundtrack. Got this as a gift and I find myself listening to it remembering all the great hits I played.
The CD is good, and I doubt you will regret buying it. The Tracks are listed in a review above, and I was only slightly disappointed that the Ocarina of Time songs are not included with the CD. Never the less, I enjoy it.

While he does give some help on the last two games, sometimes he doesn't know what to do. In MM2 for Wood Man he says"Don't use the metal blade."which is wrong. He makes a mistake on the other tape too. On Double Dragon in mission 3, he says"Don't take the trolley instead go deeper down."That's wrong too. You MUST take the trolley. I'm omitting many details as to not give away too much of what the book provides.
Many of the reviews I read before actually reading this book alluded to the idea that it was about love. The back cover even calls it a love story. However, after reading it myself, I tend to gravitate more towards the idea that this book is really about loss: how we process it, how it tends to dehumanize us, how it simultaneously warps and reinforces what we consider as reality. Niffenegger does a wonderful job at tying the theme of love and loss throughout the pages of her book which is particularly why I was so consistently engaged while reading it.
The Time Travelers Wife is at times graphic, at times very terse and very raw, but never lacking in appeal. You won't be pleased if you're looking for a heroic and solid sci-fi drama. However, if you're looking to read a fiction about how imperfect people deal with the realities of relationship, of death, of growth, and of mystery then you'll neither be disappointed.
Henry and Clare's relationship isn't so static as to impose insincerity, but changes even as they change. There is an intercourse of ideas and mystery as both retain knowledge that the other cannot or will not possess. The fact that mystery tends to be interwoven even into our own lives is very prevalent in their story. This animates them in such a way as to make them more real to the reader. Selfishness, deceit, and unhealthy attachments stay paradoxically close to sacrifice, trust, and love.
Buy this book, it's definitely worth your reading! I don't usually rate books that I read, but this one really got to me. I absolutely loved this book. I plan on reading it again actually. It's a little hard to follow if you don't have time to sit and read it in one day, which I don't, but it's not so difficult that I didn't want to read it. I am a lover of all different authors and different styles of writing and I really enjoyed this and I recommend it to everyone!!! This is the type of book that makes images of cold windy days, the color of fall leaves, and big cups of coffee pop into your brain.
It's just beautiful. It's hard to put into words how lovely it truly is. I actually couldn't really process it once I finished, and I know that opinions are very different in regards to this book. One of my friends even told me not to waste my time with it. Still, I think it was completely gorgeous, lush, breathtaking, and...just wonderful. I know I'm going on and on but it's that type of book that just hits you in the face and makes you feel like running out and finding a man/woman to experience a life changing romance with.
The Time Traveler's Wife is a heart-wrenching account of a time traveler, Henry, who spontaneously "travels." He cannot control when the time travel happens and it leads to a very unpredictable life. Henry meets Clare and thus begins a love story of two people who can never be completely together.
The Time Traveler's Wife will stay with you well after you've read the ending. I read the ending over and over again wanting to relive the last moment these two lovers were together. Melancholy follows the two lovers and propels you to keep reading. There is deep symolism in the novel; though the circumstances around the two main characters is outlandish, the feelings behind it are real. How do you truly be 100% with someone who can never be there for you? It's a question a lot of relationships face and Niffenegger answers it beautifully.
The movie is coming out this November and is starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. I hope that the movie lives up to the book, though it will be hard. Magical and tragic. Painful and frustrating. You have to really open yourself up to fiction to really enjoy the whole concept of a character who has a genetic disorder that allows time travel. There were a few times that I felt the plot was dragged out too far, yet there are characters that could have been given more depth (Kimmie, the marriage of Gomez and Charisse). Overall, I really enjoyed this story however, it left me feeling bereft with sadness and frustration. We learned the fate of Henry, I don't understand why the author could not leave us with what happened to Clare. We know she lived at least until the age of 82 - but what happened inbetween? Did she remarry? Did the several pairs of golashes allude to grandchildren, a husband??? What happened to Gomez and Charisse (Charisse feared that Gomez would leave her for Clare when Henry was gone)? Did Clare live the rest of her life in the present like Henry asked her to? After investing so much time into this book, the ending was unfair to the reader.

(A 'Wickedly' Good Read) I know that some people really enjoyed the book, but I was not a fan. I can honestly say that I never hated a book until I read this one. It was incredibly slow, had a lot of GRAPHIC and equally DISTURBING content, and there was no resolution. I agree with an earlier review that I felt absolutely no connection to the characters, and didn't care what happened to them. I didn't know if I was supposed to feel sorry for Elphaba, or if he meant for me to hate her, but at the end, I just hated everyone in the book. No endearing qualities for anyone in Oz, apparently. I love, love, LOVED this book. It was so much more dark and twisty than I had expected, as I'm familiar with the musical version (nothing alike) and I was so pleasantly surprised. I had anticipated this book to be somewhat juvenile, but it really surpassed my expectations -- it was incredibly adult (I know I felt myself blushing a few times on the subway, shielding it from my fellow passengers!) By the end of the book I felt very familiar with the world of Oz, as though I was right there with them. Maguires descriptions made me feel so much like I was a part of the action, and really got me involved in the story. I will admit that this story is not for everyone, KNOW what you're getting yourself into, it is not a Frank Baum tale! This books touches on politics, religion, adolescence, childhood, death, and many other facets of life. However, these are sometimes too brief and undeveloped. It was a good read in that is was different and unique. The author may have tried to make it too many things to too many people. Definetly a creative and unpredictable perspective on a story most of us know. Just wish it wouldn't have left off with so many unanswered questions, it seemed a bit rushed at the end. This was far from an unworthy read, it just could have been better. After hearing so much about Wicked, I decided to pick it up at the bookstore to see what all the hype was about. I'm only about halfway through the book, and I'm not sure I'll be able to make myself finish the other half. The storyline has so far been painfully plodding and dull, without even the benefit of likeable or charismatic characters to keep me interested enough to continue. There was so little character buildup with any of them that they all tend to sound equally irritating with the unnecessarily flowery language. The plot is vague and confusing at this point, and doesn't show any signs of improving. On the whole, I'm not sure why this book has gotten so many rave reviews, although I'm glad it was made into a musical, because I DID enjoy that performance. Too bad the written version doesn't share the same appeal. There was so much to this book. It would be redundant of me to comment on the specifics of this book - it was however very entertaining and enjoyable to read. The main character, The Wicked Witch of the West, was thought provoking in her thoughts, words and deeds.

(The Greatest Love Story of Our Time.)
(Past or Future?) George Orwell, in his book "1984", writes of a future dystopian society where the governments of a few nations maintain control of the world by keeping their inhabitants in submission and fear.
Like in his earlier work "Animal Farm", Orwell is making a pointed attack against the Soviet Union and communism. However, Orwell's work is more importantly a powerful depiction of the power and danger of an unchecked government. He grimly depicts the psychological, economic, technological, and other weapons a government has at its disposal against its people.
I recommend this book highly to everyone; I would even say that it is a must read. The writing is not difficult to understand, however, the political concepts are better appreciated with first hand experience and interaction with government and its potential for power abuse. I first read "1984" as a sophomore in high school and did not fully comprehend the books meaning. The book is even more valuable as a comparison to modern day political events. I highly recomend this book because its interesting and it relates to real life. I find that interesting that the government is always watching, I always felt like someone somewhere always knows what you are up to 24 hours a day. Hopefully the terminator doesn't see everything like when we go to the bathroom or that would just be mest up.
This book changed me a little bit, now i think twice before doing stupid stuff because I know someone out there might be watching and I might get in trouble. It doesn't have to be the government, the popo can be watching you from far away and you think he is probably not watching and 5 minutes later after you did the dumb thing, your screwed and you will get in trouble with the law.
I highly recommend this book because it will change your view on the goverment, and on the world we live in now. I don't know how many people read this for enjoyment, but this is pretty much an amazing novel that manages to capture so many intriguing and frightening ideas. And yet at the same time it is remarkably entertaining--it's a great story of romance, intrigue, and betrayal. 1984 is a social commentary on history and the appalling state of public policy and society generally told through a love story that resonates with a deep familiarity for all modern readers. "In the old days, he thought, a man looked at a girl's body and found it desirable, and that was the end of the story. But you could not have pure love or pure lust nowadays. No emotion was pure because everything was mixed up with fear and hatred. Their embrace had been a battle, the climax a victory. It was a blow struck against the Party. It was a political act." The year is 1984, or so Winston Smith thinks. Nothing is ever certain anymore except he lives in Oceania and they are constantly at war with either Eurasia or Eastasia. They had always been at war with Eurasia, until a quick announcement and falsification of thousands of records made them always at war with Eastasia. The Party is always right, or so it would seem. By looking at records you know existed, you would find only lies. Winston Smith knows this because he works for the Ministry of Truth, which deals with the falsification of records. The Party is the single reigning body of totalitarianisim for 1/3 of the world. But, is this simply a mere story, or something more? Was George Orwell trying to warn us of the direction our own government is heading? This version is a little extreme, but it proves its point. Winston Smith is an average man working for the Party. Scared of it, but also hating it, Winston believes that he is good as dead. He does not believe in the Party or its values, and in this world, that will earn you an arrest from the thought police for thoughtcrime. The Party can virtually read your mind through the telescreen; a two- way video broadcast system. You can never be alone with your thoughts. "Outside, even through the shut window pane, the world looked cold. Down in the street little eddies of wind were whirling dust and torn paper into spirals, and though the sun was shining and the sky a harsh blue, there seemed to be no color in anything except the posters that were plastered everywhere."
The year is 1984; the scene is London, largest population center of Airstrip One.
Airstrip One is part of the vast political entity Oceania, which is eternally at war with one of two other vast entities, Eurasia and Eastasia. At any moment, depending upon current alignments, all existing records show either that Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia and allied with Eastasia, or that it has always been at war with Eastasia and allied with Eurasia. (A great book) This is a book I'd always put off reading because of the title. I couldn't figure out what it meant, and it sounded too weird for me. In fact it is more literal than I imagined: it refers to five army personnel who survive the bombing of Dresden by taking shelter in a slaughterhouse. It must have seemed a very clever book back when it was written, some 40 years ago now, but all the time-travel and general avant-garde story-telling is so mainstream today that it hardly registers. (Okay for a minute...) This puppy is very cute, but it actually does so little that it may as well simply be another cute stuffed toy. The bag is adorable, I'll say that. But I thought the puppy would do more than move its head and make one barking sound. Maybe I wouldn't want it to make more sounds if it was going to be a toy in MY house, however!
