(Somthing for everyone - a little of everything.)
(rough and wild which may be too much for women)
(It will keep you squirming in your seat) Not an exciting book! I suppose this is the good book available for bedroom reading in the market. some of the stories - i felt that it was too exaggerating. but the "naughty" action parts are really good (; i especially like the fancy pant story! Its all here - M/M, F/F, F/M and M/F spanking action and it is all well-written, imaginative stuff. That is great if you like EVERYTHING. If your tastes are more particular, for example, you are not interested in one or two of the categories above, you may not be enthusiastic about some of the stories. Each author give's their story on spanking. Their saying it's okay to do that if you in the mood and if he or she like's to take charge in the bedroom. Something to take note of - you will learn a new way to learn the musical scale that is bound to leave an impression. And there is as much variety as A to Z. In another story a "student" is not likely to forget the scientific method after the "hands on" approach by her teacher. You'll probably be kept busy doing your homework as you re-read this textbook over and over. Have you ever felt the delicious thrill of lying across a lover's lap and getting spanked good and hard? Or been the one doing the spanking, enjoying the sting as your hand collides with your lover's ass? Or have you simply dreamed about the gorgeous heated generated by a truly perfect spanking? If so, this book's for you! Naughty Spanking Stories From A to Z has it ALL, from disobedient students and stern mistresses to kinky cops and naughty captives, to men and women who simply love getting spanked! With stories by acclaimed writers such as Kate Dominic, Michael Hemmingson, Tsaurah Litzky, Bill Noble, Thomas Roche, Simon Sheppard, Lisabet Sarai, Sage Vivant, and Michele Zipp, plus a daring foreword by noted sex educator Violet Blue, this book will have you itching to bend over and bare your bottom! (Great As Always)
(It's fun to be BAD)
(Just OK!)
(Quick read, but it gets old fast) It was enjoyable and a quick read. The story brings a séance of real possibilities to the current world. You can place yourself in the book not necessarily as the main character but as a witness. I am looking forward to reading the next series in the book. Sherrilyn Kenyon is great as always. She can take a hoaky situation and make it a good sizzling read. I never miss one of her books, and Amazon is the place to get them! If I understand correctly, some of the stories in this anthology were previously published in other anthologies, but since I've only recently "discovered" (read: finally caved in to friends' recommendations) Sherrilyn Kenyon's books, that wasn't a problem. I've also only read a couple of the Dark Hunter books so far, so I didn't have any preconceptions in that direction either.
The stories are loosely connected, all about agents of BAD (Bureau of American Defense, an ultra-secret agency).
In "One BAD Night," our heroine is sent to capture our hero, who has apparently gone over to the other side. She's been torn between disapproving of, and being attracted to him, so she takes the opportunity to torment him a little. Fun and games is over, though, when the terrorists catch up to them.
"BAD to the Bone," the second story, has our heroine winning a fantasy vacation--a trip to an island where she'll act out her favorite romance novel. It's a little boring... until she stumbles across our hero, a BAD agent recuperating on the other side of the island, who kidnaps her and gives her the fantasy of a lifetime.
In "Captivated by You," two BAD agents are going undercover to catch a drug lord. She has to pose as a dominatrix, and he is tasked with helping her train for the role... much to their mutual delight, as both of them have been secretly attracted to each other for a while.
The Good: The humor. Much of it derives from the James-Bond-like, over-the-top tone. You can read the stories seriously, but they lose some of their charm that way. The pacing. These stories are fast-moving and exciting, and since they're novellas, that makes them go even faster. They all feel complete, though, and not rushed or curtailed. The characters. Although the novella form doesn't allow for much in-depth characterization, the characters are vividly realistic. I particularly liked the depiction of the loneliness of living undercover.
The Bad: It is over-the-top. If you're looking for more realistic romantic suspense, this isn't it. Some (all?) of the novellas have been published elsewhere. Make sure you check before buying. The sensuality is self-conscious in spots. Most of the sex scenes are good, but I wouldn't buy this for the sensuality alone.
The Verdict: The first story is the most emotional, the second the funniest, and the third the sexiest. All three are vastly entertaining, particularly if you're a fan of James Bond, or movies like American Dreamer (I'm both.). I intend to catch up with more BAD stories. I have grown to love most of Sherrilyn Kenyon's work, however, I felt at times that she was trying "a little too hard". There were times when she just seemed to be going through the motions. It wasn't that this book of short stories (One Bad Night,Bad to the Bone and Captivated by You)were horrible, they just seemed to lack something..maybe they were too short. However, the one saving grace is the continuing story of Tee and Joe, who evetually have to get together if for no other reasons than the fans. But if you would like a quick read, with some entertaining sex scenes, read Born to be Bad. Born to be BAD is a collection of three novellas about members of BAD, the Bureau of American Defense. I hadn't read any of these stories before, so I didn't have the problems that other reviewers did with them being previously published. The BAD series is one of my least favorite of Kenyon's series, but these stories weren't all that bad.
One BAD Night: Jason Banks is an undercover operative who the BAD agency believes to be a double agent. They send in hotshot shooter Samantha Winslow to neutralize this threat. Little does she know that things aren't what they seem and she gets more than she bargained for.
BAD to the Bone: Marianne Webernec is a high school teacher who wins the Hideaway Heroine Sweepstakes. Her prize is to have her favorite romance novel brought to life with herself as the heroine on a remote island. The book she chooses is about undercover agents and surprise surprise she actually meets one. Kyle Foster has been sent to the same island on a forced vacation after being injured in the line of duty. The last thing he expects is to find out that he is Marianne's fantasy brought to life.
"Captivated" by You: Rhea Stevenson is appalled to find out that she's being sent on a mission with her least favorite person, Ace Krux. She's even more appalled when she learns that she has to play the role of dominatrix to catch a Bettie Page-enthusiast arms dealer. Luckily for her, she finds something redeemable about the whole arrangement.
Overall, this book was okay, but nothing great. The stories were short and I finished the entire book in only a few hours. Still, the stories get old and the characters seem to be the same in every scenario. The men are standoffish because their life as agents might put their relationships at risk and the women are sarcastic and tough to show that they can handle the pressure of the job as well as a man. If you're in the mood for a steamy Alias/24 type romance novel pick these up, otherwise Kenyon's Dark Hunter series is much better. New York Timesbestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon has created a sensation with her sexy stories about the Bureau of American Defense. Now, three novellas about BAD agents are collected in one steamy volume! In the all-new "One BAD Night" the bureau believes that agent Jason Banks has sold them out. Agent Samantha Winslow has never particularly cared for Jason, whom she reluctantly finds attractive, and she volunteers to bring him in. Under orders to infiltrate his rogue mission and kidnap him, she is also trying to pull off the ultimate double-cross. But who would have guessed that Jason would be so pleased to be her captive? In "BAD to the Bone" Marianne wins the Hideaway Heroine Sweepstakes and a chance to pretend to be the heroine in her favorite romance novel. Whisked away to a remote island, Marianne's daydreams become real when BAD agent Kyle Foster kidnaps her and uncovers her every fantasy. In "'Captivated' by You" BAD agent Rhea must go undercover as a dominatrix to capture a deadly terrorist. Fortunately, Agent "Ace" Krux, whom she has long desired, is her training partner. Immediately, the roles of master and slave are wonderfully blurred, and Rhea and Ace unleash a wealth of hidden desire. Rerations < Born to Be BAD (B.A.D.: Bureau of American Defense) >

("Sub-Umbra, or Sport Among the She-Noodles"&So Much More!)
(Get your mind out of the gutter... and let mine float by.)
(The Pearl)
(Best of the Victorian Era) I read about this book in several reviews and really don't see the draw. Sure, well before it's time but not a real page turner. Readers Beware: This is NOT John Steinbeck's novel :) !
THE PEARL wasn't originally a book, but rather an underground men's magazine, the publication of which spanned the 18 months from July 1879 to December 1880, when it ceased publication. Considered the height of scandalous in its day, THE PEARL strikes the modern reader of erotica, densensitized by a deluge of visual images on the Net and by the open publication of "Forum"-type writings, as rather quaint in its restraint.
Still, THE PEARL is undeniably erotic, and must have had the upper-crust ladies (and a few of the men) of Victorian England blushing mightily and breathing hard as it was read by them or to them by their lovers and/or spouses.
What strikes the modern reader is the quality and the precision of the writing, which is topnotch, graphically imaginative, and designed to titillate. THE PEARL consists of a number of serialized novelettes (the aforementioned "Sub-Umbra" and the delightful tale retold in "Miss Coote's Confession" among them), random short stories, the obligatory letters from readers section, and ribald limericks and poems. If you need some new blue jokes, THE PEARL's a treasure-trove.
Much of this material has seen print in the "Ribald Classics" section of a modern major men's magazine and elsewhere over the decades. Both as an historical artifact and as an omnibus of classic adult entertainment, every serious adult reader should own a copy.
As dirty books - or should I say "naughty books" - go, the Pearl has few equals. It's neither as pretentious as "My Secret Life", as twisted as "Justine" (De Sade, not Durrell)nor as overblown and plodding as "Fannie Hill." Regardless, this is not a book you take seriously. When my evil twin, Skippy, was a sophomore, cloistered in an all-boys prep school in the 1960's, one of his worldly classmates scored a copy of the Pearl in an "avant garde" book store in New York City, and smuggled it into school. Along with Robert Rimmer's "The Harrad Experiment" and Terry Southern's "Candy", he rented it out to his eager, reprobate adolescent peers for a dollar a week. Skippy read it cover to cover then, and again in college. It was better than comic books, he claimed - well, except maybe Fritz the Cat.
By today's "standards" (now *there's* an oxymoron), the erotica in the Pearl is pretty tame, almost innocent. However, most of it is carried off with a certain witty, genteel, Oscar Wilde-ian elegance to the whole enterprise that's sadly lacking in what passes for "erotic fiction" in the 21st century - stuff you wouldn't read with a haz-mat suit on. In the Pearl, you can see where Henry Miller and D. H. Lawrence might have taken some of their "cues" for the "juicier" parts of their more literary novels. Some of the stories are sexist. But that's the way people evidently thought, then. We had to wait another generation or two before Anais Nin and, later, Erica Jong could speak for a freer generation of women. So from a purely historical perspective, the Pearl is worth reading, if not owning. It's a more of a "mile post" in many readers' careers, something one passes and soon forgets after a certain young age.
The collections of limericks interspersed between the serialized "stories" are actually the most entertaining part of the book. Well I did not enjoy this book at all. I could not say this is a good book. I usually enjoy almost everything but this is the first in "years" I do have to say FOR ME was awful. Maybe someone else will have better luck! I've had a copy of this book for over 20 years, and I still go back to it from time to time when I'm looking to [have a good time with myself]. Of the Victorian erotica I've read (probably half a dozen books or so), this is the one I find most helpful, most appealing. I've even thrown it away a few times, only to repurchase it later because I missed it so.
The book contains quite a range of material, from short stories to serialized novels to poetry and limmericks. Perhaps half of the material here is S&M-realted (primarily involving people hitting each other with birch sticks), which doesn't especially appeal to me, but I've learned which stories focus more on what I'm interested in, and so the S&M bits don't distract me.
Most of the non-S&M stuff starts off with introducing innocent young women to the delights of sex. Some of the "young women" are teenagers, and some of the teenagers are barely teenagers. There are also many scenes that reinforce the Victorian stereotype of "women want sex, they just can't admit to wanting it." This results in numerous cases where women say "no, please don't." Of course, in the story they really do want it.... Anyway, if you're offended by stories depicting under-18s having sex, or of stories that involve non-consensual (or very nearly non-consensual) sex--you will want to avoid this book.
There are some bisexual scenes in the book. Most of these are female-female, but there are a small handful that are male-male. Lewd, bawdy, and sensual, this cult classic is a collection of Victorian erotica that circulated in an underground magazine known as The Pearl from July 1879 to December 1880. Now dusted off and totally uncensored, the journal of voluptuous reading that titillated the eminent Victorians is reprinted in its entirety. The 18 issues of The Pearl are packed with short stories, naughty poems, ballads of sexual adventure, letters, limericks, jokes, gossip, and six serialized novels including "La Rose d'Amour," filled with inventive and exotic lovemaking scenes; "Miss Coote's Confession," with graphic descriptions of initiations into pleasure; and "Young Beginners," a collection of exuberant sexual adventures. Scatological and scandalous, The Pearl is definitely not for the straitlaced or pure of mind. Rerations < The Pearl >

(Not what I expected...)
(Entertaining, but not what you'd think...)
(Ignore the movie. Read the book)
(Good - maybe not 5 stars but still good.) I've read many Anne Rice books, and this is by far her worst. Now, since it is still written by Anne Rice, it's actually decent for a romance novel. But if you're like me and hate romance novels, you're not going to like this at all.
It contains very little of the mystery and beauty in the Vampire Chronicles and also much less of the stark sexuality of the Beauty Series. If you really liked either of those two series, I don't think this book will be your favorite.
Not only that, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Two people who are obsessed with sadism and masochism decide one day that they don't care for it any more and fall in love vanilla style. Talk about an unexciting ending. There's very little climax to this book. I spent half the book wishing they would just go back to the island, and then became really confused by the idea of two people who devoted so much of their lives to the sport, after meeting for a few days deciding to give it up, for essentially no reason. This book wasn't what I expected; never read an Anne Rice, but after reading what others had written, thought I'd buy a book of hers. Should have saved my money; this story was too far-fetched. Didn't finish it. When I bought Exit to Eden, I was expecting a rather graphic, intense novel more along the lines of the Beauty trilogy. What I got was a whirlwind romance bracketed by The Club. The Club is much akin to the Beauty trilogy; however, The Club is played up, then drops almost completely out of sight. If you enjoy romance novels, minus the kinkiness that Anne Rice has a reputation for, then this might be right up your alley. It's got just a dash of kink, but predominantly it's a tale of two lovers. As in the Beauty books, it gets a bit repetetive after a while. Unlike her Vampire Chronicles, where the end seemed to come all to soon, by the time I made it to the end of Exit to Eden, I was good and ready to get there. Don't confuse the movie with this book. There are no detectives chasing diamond thieves and this is not a comedy.
Anne Rice took a break from writing her Vampire Chronicles series to pen "Exit To Eden" under the pen name Anne Rampling. This novel explores the subject of BDSM within the context of a romantic relationship between Mistress Lisa Kelly and Elliot Slater. Kelly manages an isolated BDSM resort that offers its high-end clients an exclusive setting in which they can experience the life of a Master or Mistress. Likewise, the slaves are there of their own freewill in search of fantasy exploration.
Mistress Lisa gets first pick of the new slaves and chooses Slater. Their chemistry is undeniable from the start and intensifies throughout their time together. As the story unfolds, they fall in love with each other and must come to terms with the power dynamics of how Mistress and slave can become mutual lovers.
Although fiction, this book reveals the potential correlation between BDSM and romance. Anne Rice is a wonderful author.
I have read so much about Anne Rice - and finally managed to read one of her books - since I dislike anything with vampires thought I would give this a try. All I have to say is "where is the Club?" and where can I meet a man like Elliott?? wow! This is a very sensual tale about two people Lisa and Elliott who have enjoyed to the hilt such a heavy dose of an alternative s&m life style but when this couple finally meet - PASSION!! Much more powerful and intense for both of them than they have ever experienced. They both find themselves willing to risk anything to persue this opportunity with "love." Rice actually allows you to see them fall in love in their flight from the Club. This is a strong powerful book and I found it a page turner. The same imagination that brought you the spellbinding sensuality of The Vampire Chronicles brings you the wickedly erotic and tantalizing tale of Lisa and Elliot's journey to the limits of pleasure and darkness at The Club, an exclusive island resort where forbidden fantasy meets willing flesh. A literary romp.
They call her the Perfectionist. A stunning, mysterious, and fearless sexual adventurer, Lisa is founder and supreme mistress of The Club—an exclusive island resort where forbidden fantasy meets willing flesh. Here eager participants who can afford life's most exquisite luxuries can experience the breathtaking pleasures of surrender and submission. Here nothing is taboo. A thrill-seeking photojournalist, Elliott risks his life daily in the most dangerous, war-torn regions on Earth. Now he has come to Paradise to explore his darkest sexual self, committed to the ultimate plunge into personal risk. Together, their journey to the limits of erotic pleasure will take them farther than they ever dreamed they'd go . . . Rerations < Exit to Eden >

(cecilia mcneill) Loved it first time reading this author might try out another one of her books but i enjoy Jake he is freaky *smiling*.. Good for the collection
By The Way: love the hot tub sence My goodness this book was hot. Lynn and Jake just steam up the pages of this book and I loved every minute of it. Jake was the ultimate alpha male and I have to say I just found him so refreshing. Man did this guy throw his weight around with Lynn but she did not seem to mind since she enjoyed every minute of their interludes.
It was a very short book but a good read none the less. Great short story. I love interracial love stories. Could have been a little longer. It was just hot enough for me to enjoy. I really liked this book. I thought the love scenes were hott and exciting. I liked the main characters. I liked the story line. Some of the dialog was boring but all around, it was a good read. I have read her other books and didn't like her style, yet this book was by far the only good one she's written. So enjoy a happy, hott read. this was my first book by this authoer and i must say it was a good book and i love reading it will continue to look for her books Years after leaving her step-family's ranch to pursue a new life and career, Lynn James is called back to save the property from the crafty yet handsome Jake Ragnall. (Dangerous and Dirty but definitely HOT)
(Don't bother with this one)
(non consensual kidnapping is NOT BDSM.)
(No Literary Merit) Well, *I* LOVED IT! I've owned this book for a while and just happened across these three very disparate reviews. I think this book appeals if you like the dangerous side of things. I do agree with the reviewer who liked it , that it's a fantasy, and as such those old BDSM bywords of Safe Sane Consensual have no meaning. This ISNT a BdSM erotic romance, and just because that's what Claire usually writes, doesn't mean we have to punish her for writing something different. This is a down and dirty old-fashioned kidnapped and torture tale, highly erotic if you like that sort of thing, which, I confess, I do!! Claire is a great writer and the scenes are stark, powerful and hot hot hot. That's what I think! See what you think! I felt compelled to write this review after reading the two other very negative reviews. Being personally very well acquainted with all of Ms. Thompson's writing, I would agree this is not her typical romantic consensual BDSM story, but then, it wasn't intended to be. She wrote this quite a while back, and if you look on her website, it was an exploration into a dark fantasy, not based on truth, not based at ALL on safe, sane, consensual. This is not a romance. It's a dark tale of one woman's abduction and sexualization. The goal is not to find true love, or redemption. It is a FANTASY designed to titillate that darker part of those of us who are turned on by the fantasy of sexual abduction. I found the book extremely satisfying, especially as the main character emerges from it with new self-awareness and a deep appreciation for her life and freedom.
That said, I would recommend anyone who doesn't like Ms. Thompson's nonconsensuals to check out her romances, each one more beautiful and erotically satisfying than the last.
Respectfully submitted I am still shaking my head that things like this get published. And no, I don't mean the premise, I'm talking about the way the book was written. No buildup at all to let us care about the kidnapped girl. First-grade writing, probably written more for shock value. I didn't even CARE what happened to the "frog". I have read similar books that have sent chills down my spine at what the sexual slaves had to go through. This one, however, was poorly done. I am so glad I only ordered one of this author's books, as I certainly won't bother reading any more. She should try writing ads in the back of magazines rather than "novels". Not worth your money. The premise of this book is criminal and not BDSM which forms its foundation on respect and consensual agreements. The work has no literary merit. No plot, no clever dialog, no character development, no originality, no quality writing style.
Jane is abducted by a sadistic couple intent on reducing her to a sexual object. Drawn into a world where sensuality is blurred and splattered by the harsh brush of abuse, the exploration is as much a matter of the mind and soul as of the body. Jane, called "Frog" by her captors, learns to adapt as her world shrinks to the avoidance of pain and the pursuit of pleasure. Ironically, her captivity frees her to finally appreciate a life she took for granted, and even in her sexual prison she discovers small joys and, ultimately, redemption. In this deeply disturbing and twisted tale, a young woman is abducted, only to be tortured and degraded to the point that she loses her identity. Jane becomes 'frog' - a sexual object to be used and humiliated through an endless series of perverted tortures devised by two fiendish sadists who will stop at nothing to debase and break her down. Come with her on a journey into the erotic depths of torture and terror - if you dare. This is perhaps Claire Thompson's darkest effort to date. Going beyond the usual exploration of submission and sexual desire, we are drawn into a world where sensuality is blurred and splattered by the harsh brush of abuse, where deprivation and starvation are used as tools of subjugation, along with sexual torture and constant stimulation. Where ropes and chains bound a helpless woman and her body is forced to endure sexual torture while her mind is emptied of all she knew before she was renamed as 'frog.' The exploration is as much a matter of the mind and soul as of the body. We are secret witnesses to this depraved and shocking tale, but we see not only the sexual detail of what frog is forced to undergo, but also get a chance to get into the psyches of the torturers and the tortured. We come to understand that it isn't always a matter of black and white, of good and evil. The blurred edges where pain becomes pleasure, and where fear becomes release, leaves us with a gray confusion of desire and shame. It is a deeply exciting look at perversion and degradation and ultimately at redemption. Rerations < The Frog: A Tale of Sexual Torture and Degradation >
