customer 's review (Love this book!)
(Wonderful!)
(A keeper for sure!!!)
(MY FAVORITE!!)
(Did we read the same book? This isn't lovemaking, it's rape!) It is really well written, I have bought this book 3 times because when I lend it to friends I never get it back. People with personal issues may not appreciate some of the content but it's wonderful just to get away from reality and imagine being able to live in another time. I loved this book. It really made you think about "could this actually happen?" I love the bits of history, the attitudes of people in different times, the extraordinary amount of research that Mrs. O'Day must have put into this. She is just an awesome story teller. I read this book many years ago and fell in love with it. I just found it again and re-read it- yep, still love it! I don't really agree with the last review about the "rape" scene. It's a fictional book and I took it as that- fictional. It was an important part of the plot, although it may be disturbing to some, you soon forget about it as Constance weaves her magical spell. I felt transported back in time with Brianne and almost wished it were true. I hated that the book ended, and the ending was fabulous! I wish there was a part two and I could continue reading about Brianne and Ryan's life. Not to be, but at least I have this copy and I can pull it out every few years and get swept back in time once again and try to pretend I don't know how the story will turn out. I love this book and highly recommend it to all those who enjoy an easy read that will make your heart flutter and your cheeks flush! THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOK! I HAVE READ IT OVER AND OVER. A TRUE ROMANCE NOVEL...AND A VERY HARD ACT TO FOLLOW. Everybody raved about how good this book was, so I decided to give it a try. I didn't get very far.
When the hero (who up to this point despises the heroine) has sex with the heroine WHILE SHE'S DRUGGED UP ON LAUDANUM and passed out, not really aware of what's going on! His reasoning? She's dressed in pants and must be a prostitute, therefore he's not doing anything wrong. He's got a right to use her because she's a whore! I was so disgusted that this book flew across my room.
Yeah, yeah, I know such things were just par for the course in many 80's romances, but this is sick, sick, sick! Hello, people! Sex without a woman's consent is called RAPE!!!! That's why they call it the "date-rape" drug, and not the "seduction" drug! I can't believe people actually find this romantic.
This disgusting "love" (RAPE!) scene appears just 50 pages into the book. So it's not like they hero and heroine have had any time to fall in love with one another. In fact, they hate each other. I don't like such early sex even between consenting adults, let alone a rape scene (which is NEVER acceptable!) Skip this book! The last thing Brianne remembers is driving along the highway, outside of New Orleans. But when she wakes up after the accident, she finds herself sitting in the middle of a meadow, staring up at the most handsome man she'd ever seen--and he's telling her the year is 1856. (2 Stars)
(A very inventive and gripping read!)
(Could not get into it)
(WHAT A FABULOUS RIDE!) The book was ok but later into the story it keep jumping back and forth. But I will read other books by this author This book was just okay. It was boring in certain parts and the author used the same words over and over again. I didn't understand at what point the heroine fell in love with the hero and why. It seemed as if on one page she hated him, with very good cause, and the very next page she was madly in love with him. I even checked the book to see if pages were ripped out because it happened so fast. The only explanation being that they were soul mates and that made everything okay. As another reviewer has said, it did seemed like chapters were cut short in this book and it made the story rushed without making sense. Some of the side characters didn't seem to really have a point in the story, they just filled up the pages and left you wondering why they were even mentioned in the first place. It's refreshing when an author can come along with something new and inventive. Dawn Thompson really showed some amazing talent when she wrote this book. I loved how she was able to take us back and forth through time without getting the reader to confused. The characters were great too. However, I wanted to kick the crap out of that little weasle Nigel. Very bad boy! And don't even get me started on his mother...just plain evil. Pick up a copy of this book, you won't be disappointed.
I had to force myself to finish it. Love scenes were wooden, and all that back and forth between different time periods was boring. The whole book had a depressing quality to it. From the reviews, I thought it would be good. I was dissapointed! Ms. Thompson takes you on a whirlwind ride - two people trying to make their lives work in uncertain times meet because it is their foretold destiny. While they have so much they must overcome individually, they allow their growing love to help them in their separate quests - making their difficult roads merge into one love, one heart, one soul. One risk the author took is that she has the hero and heroine time travel more than once and to different places. Ms. Thompson's skill and talent make this work beautifully. Ms. Thompson is now on my auto-buy list. I can't wait to read her upcoming vampire series! At twenty-one, after two Seasons with no takers, Theadosia Barrington should have been grateful to snare Nigel Cosgrove. The earl-to-be was a blue-eyed Adonis, a true catch-and surely the incident in Covent Garden was exaggerated. And yet, upon her arrival at Cashel Cosgrove, Thea found herself more intrigued by the Irish castle's legend, that of the tragic Ros Drumcondra. "The Black Falcon" he was called. Party Gypsy, part Celt, the warrior had been conquered by betrayal alone. His ghost was still reputed to wander these halls, making women tremble with fear and desire-for who could resist those burnished copper eyes? Hadn't he stolen away the betrothed of Cian Cosgrove, made the woman his love slave? If only Thea herself could suffer such a fate. If only magic were a reality. If only that Gypsy woman had spoken the truth, and Thea was a woman out of time, the one meant to be...THE FALCON'S BRIDE Rerations < The Falcon's Bride >

(An entertaining read)
(delightfully original, fast-moving, very well written)
(A wonderful read!) I admit I'm a fairly recent participant to "romance" genre...having been a literature snob in my younger years. In recent years health issues have caused a 'sea-change' in my attitudes and I find romantic interludes, character discovery and relationships much more satisfying to explore than the classics or spy/thriller genres that add to my life-tensions. SO, all that self-description aside, I use it to intoduce what I found so strong in this story-line. I loved the idea of a turn-of-the-century woman, somewhat spoiled, who is put to 'tests' of suitability by the mother of the man she is coming to love. There would be enough tension simply in developing the primary love relationship without adding the "peas under the matress". But, that is after all the name of the story! I recommend this one. Younger readers may feel somewhat irritated at the perceived interference~we older folks will probably have a chuckle or two along the way. THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA is a bit hard to find, as it is out of print, but it is worth the search. It's an entertaining version of the princess and the pea fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson. Set in 1895, the "princess" is Cece, an America heiress in her early twenties whose family thinks it time for her to be married. The "prince" is the Earl of Greystone (hey, wasn't that Tarzan's title?), who desperately needs to marry an heiress to repair his family estates and fortune. The two fall in love at first sight, both unaware of the other's true identity and circumstances. The Earl then dumps Cece, as he must marry for money. When he discovers she's an heiress, he thinks all turned out perfectly. Cece soon sets him straight, and he must earn his way back into her good graces. The Earl's mother sets many tests for Cece to pass before true long conquers all. Cece is a strong heroine, well able to deal with stuffy peers and meddling mothers-in-law. A delightful and entertaining story. Be sure to find this one! Fans of Arnette Lamb, Nora Roberts, and Marsha Canham will enjoy the wit and pace of Alexander's books. The dialogue is natural and the writing refreshing for those tired of books written at a junior-high reading level. This book in particular was very entertaining; I learned many things about that period and Alexander even made the emerging automobile industry a fun read - much more interesting than it sounds (in England, drivers had to have someone walking in front of the car waving a red flag). Ms. Alexander is a really good writer, and she just gets better with every book! It is very hard to portray humor and passion in the same book and do it well, but she excels at this Herculean task. I highly recommend this book! Preparing to inherit her father's business empire, independent nineteenth-century beauty Cecily White resists money-seeking suitors, until she is tempted by the Earl of Greystone, who she insists must prove his love to her. (Love and Laughter for Time Traveling Lady Viking and Navy SEAL Commander)
(Seals and vikings oh my!)
(good dialogue)
(Really a 3 1/2) I really love Sandra Hill's writting style, and this book is no exception to what I expect when I read one of her stories. I laughed so hard, and found the steamy scenes very steamy. I loved it. As always, she also writes her characters with a lot of heart, passion and depth. I have not read the previous books in this viking series, but it really didn't matter. They can be read out of order. (I also recommend her Cajun series for some funny stories of hot alpha males. They are delicious stories. Yum!)
I know some reviews comment about some aspects of the story is hard to believe or may be too far fetched, but then what do you expect when you read fiction comedy that includes a time traveling viking warrior lady who spent the last 2 years in 9 different harems? When reading Sandra Hill, you need to suspend your belief of reality and just let the story take you for a fun ride. 2005 A.D.: Operation Rodent finds Navy SEAL Lieutenant Ian MacLean and his team parachuting into Northern Iraq to take out the "big rat" tango Jamal ben Hassan. The insertion had gone smoothly. No reason to expect complications until Ian discovered a woman in a cave who he is convinced is the terrorist leader's lover, Yasmine. Ian is 34, single and content with his status having recently ended an engagement, due to his fiancé's cheating. Never in a million years had he expected himself to be turned on by his filthy, smelly, shrew of a hostage.
1013 A.D.: One by one Madrene Olgadottir's family members had vanished leaving her alone to defend Norstead. She was a fighter to the bone but had been no match for Steinolf the Vicious. After she'd refused to wed with him, knowing that to do so would bring her men out of hiding and ultimate end in their deaths, Steinolf had beaten the proud woman and had paraded her bound and naked through the keep. But even this rude treatment had not cowed her. She had wed once, and never would again. Defeated, Steinolf had sold her to a harem as a concubine. Over the next three years she'd been sold repeatedly, but thanks to her cunning she'd never been raped. Over time she'd perfected a ritual guaranteed to shrivel a man's "dangly parts". That's what she'd told the Troll who had discovered her in the cave she'd hidden in to regroup after escaping from the latest harem. Her only goal is to return home to Norstead to avenge herself on Steinolf. If agreeing to be the woman these barmy seals are looking for will get her as far as Baghdad then she would gladly pretend to be Yasmine.
Ian is pretty sure they've made a big mistake once the woman is cleaned up. There's something familiar about her, like they've met before. This is confirmed when the real Yasmine is sighted elsewhere. However the big brass has plans to smoke out the terrorist cell by using their captive as bait and they want the confrontation to take place on home territory. The most expedient way to get Madrene to the U.S. is for her to marry a U.S. citizen. Given no choice, Ian bites the bullet knowing that the marriage can be easily annulled later.
NOT! He hadn't counted on the strength of their mutual attraction. He finds Maddie irresistible and her ritual has absolutely no effect on his member, not that she really wants it to. But adjusting to this new world is going to take some doing, could it be true that she's time traveled more than a thousand years into the future? If not, can she convince Ian to help her raise an army to take back Norstead? Or will he take just her to a doctor and have her head shrunken? One thing for sure, she is totally head over hills in love with the Troll and the feeling is definitely mutual.
If you've read the previous four titles in the series, you probably know it's only a matter of time before the family shrew meets up with her long lost Magnusson kin. It's sure to give poor Ian a headache especially when he realizes that his own sister has been keeping the huge family secret. But never fear as with all of Ms. Hill's Viking tales, love and laughter is guaranteed. Another hilarious keeper.
Reviewed for PNR Reviews What the heck do you expect from Sandra Hill - anything less than excellence? As usual, an awesome viking/seal adventure just waiting for you to buy it, take it home and treat it right - read it!! But pay attention: this is a fantasy so don't expect reality; suspend belief (such as "there is no such thing as time travel") and just ENJOY the book. If you don't like fantasy, don't buy then review the book in a negative; that's not fair. Warning: sex scenes are R. This is my first Sandra Hill. I am pleasantly surprised. the humor was good and realistic. sure a little far-fetched but very enjoyable. I am calling borders now to order the rest.
I had some problems with this book: 1. The whole marriage thing was pretty far fetched. 2. Maddie should think about breast reduction surgery since we heard about the size of her breasts constantly. 3. She was a shrew; she was always shrieking about something&never shut up. I'm surprised Ian didn't wear ear plugs around her. 4. This is the same problem I have with many books. The male and female leads have an area of expertise due to career, training, etc. Yet one of the leads, usually the female, refuses to let that person call the shots, even though in that particular area, THEY KNOW MORE. EX: Maddie knows squat about the 21st century, has no clue about covert ops. Yet every time Ian tells her to do/not do something that he knows will be dangerous she pouts, is insulted, says it's because she's a woman and if at all possible does it anyway. Completely irresponsible, particularly as her acts can put people in a lot of danger. If she were a photographer&told Ian not to open the darkroom door she'd expect him to adhere to what she says because SHE KNOWS more about it.
I would have given it a three but I enjoyed the follow up on the earlier stories in the series and I like Sandra Hill's writing style.

(I'm hoping there will be a sequel)
(Dark Passion abounds!!) This was one of the best stories I've read in a really long time. It has humor, adventure, love, ant lots more. It's very hard to put down a story like this that keeps you laughing and crying and hoping for the best outcome. Definately must read. Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
1893 Julia Hargrove accompanies her aunt, cousins, and some friends on an exciting excursion to Dunraven Castle in the Highlands of Scotland. The bedchamber Julia is using has not been used in twenty years. The reason for this is not entirely known but rumors abound of paranormal happenings in that room! Just what kind exactly Julia is about to find out...
1437 Rae MacKinnon, the third laird of Dunraven castle, returns from a long imprisonment in England to rule his keep and his clan. The very last thing he expects is to repeatedly meet a woman in his bedchamber from over 400 years in the future!
Julia and Rae are frequently thrown together through the amazing and rare phenomenon of an opening in the veil of time. This allows them a few stolen moments of happiness as their love grows. Will they conquer time and political intrigue to find peace and happiness together? The reader will be eager to find out.
Ms. Kirkwood has woven a delightful tale of love and passion through time. She uses a very believable theory to explain the ability of her characters to travel through time. The reader can't help but fall in love with Rae and Julia. Both are very complex characters who have always had strength. They find even stronger passion and ability from their love for each other. Both are intense and multidimensional characters who step right off the pages of the book and into the reader's heart. The entire cast is enchanting, with its intriguing secondary characters and exciting villains.
Ms. Kirkood's reasoning through which she spins a magical tale fascinated this reviewer, being of a scientific mind, balanced by a dose of romance. The reader can almost believe her premise of how and why a "Slip in Time" could very well happen.
This is a well developed tale which keeps the reader enthralled from page one. Ms. Kirkwood throws in several twists to the story which should keep the reader guessing what is to come. However, the twists aren't quite shocking enough, for this reviewer, to keep certain parts of the story from being unsurprising. In spite of the predictability of some aspects of the plot, this is an intelligently written, entirely delightful story. This reviewer is eager to read more of Ms. Kirkwood's work.
© Kelley A. Hartsell, 2001. All rights reserved. This review is coming about 2 years too late, but I enjoyed the book so much that I had to comment on it anyway! If you love time travels, and if you love romances set in medieval Scotland, then this book is a must have, a definite keeper.19th century Scotland: The castle Dunraven has been closed to visitors for over 20 years and Julia Hargrove is about to find out why. One of the last of her group to arrive for a summer party, she finds herself ensconced inside of the tower chamber due to a lack of bedrooms. The tower chamber turns out to be as creepy as it looks, for strange things begin to happen almost as soon as she arrives... 15th century Scotland: Rae MacKinnon was recently released from London Tower where he had been imprisoned for almost 2 decades. He came home only to find his father dying and himself the third laird of Dunraven. Strange things begin happening thereafter, when a beautiful woman claiming to be from the future begins making appearances in his bedchamber... This author is an absolute master at invoking emotions. If she wants you to feel freaked out, she knows how to use a lightening storm and a few choice words to do it. If she wants to bring a tear to your eye, she knows how to set a scene up and deliver an unforgettable line. If she wants you to feel sexual tension...well, she does that very well too [grin]. Another thing Kirkwood knows how to manipulate to its best advantage is the setting. Looking back, I know the book was loaded with history, yet she wove it so effortlessly into the story line that I never once felt hit over the head by it. Some historical romances read like history texts because the author doesn't know how to deliver it. Not Kirkwood. You won't find yourself skimming paragraphs while she gives you a page long recitation of how a room looked at the time. And then, of course, there is the romance aspect of the novel. I don't think I can put into words how well done it is. I could feel Julia and Rae's desperation to stay together, feel their fears that the slips would stop and they'd no longer be granted time together. This book grabbed my attention from chapter 1 and never let it go. Definitely buy this one! Ms. Kirkwood did a wonderful job in telling this tale. I was drawn into the story from the first page, and kept enthralled until I closed the back cover. As is commented upon in the other reviews, she does a thorough job of explaining the ideas of "Time Slips" and makes you believe it might be possible. I especially like the time periods in which Ms. Kirkwood used. Instead of your "typical" time travel from the present, she used two dates in the past, and played the Victorian Lady and Highland laird well off against each other. There are not too many times that I actually laugh while reading, but I woke my husband up with my chuckling. I sincerely hope that there will be a sequel to this. . .maybe with Rae's nephew? Another wonderful novel by one of the best romance authors around. Kathleen Kirkwood (aka. Anita Gordon) is a treasure to behold. I can't wait for the next publication!!! In 1893 Scotland, a beautiful woman accompanies her two aunts to Dunraven Castle--a magnificent structure rumored to be haunted--to spend the night. But after settling in bed, she finds herself transported back through time to the year 1390, where she meets the third lord of the castle! Drawn together by this twist of fate, the couple begins a love affair which transcends space and time, but will love be enough to keep her from being returned to 1893?. Rerations < A Slip in Time >

(Read the book, you'll like it!)
(Cam comes to the rescue!)
(The Scarlet Empress)
(Fantastic ending to a wonderful series!) It was a great conclusion to the series! Susan Grant never disappoints me! For those of you who like sci-fi action and romance you should read "The Legend of Banzai Maguire" first. The action rips right through the book and you'll finish reading it in no time, hence that leads to "The Scarlet Empress." In this book you'll find the deeper emotions revealed between Ty and Bree and their struggles with the U.C.E., and in my humble opinion the best parts in this book (which there are many) is the interaction between Cam and Kyber, the delicate movements between the two, like Swans drawing closer each dancing around but not quite sure...yet! I love the witty dialog exchange between these two, you'll laugh because you'll swear you've had a similar conversation or you'll say to yourself "oh, good come back! I have to use that next time." I found myself feeling closer to Kyber this time around (you'll have to read the book as to why), and that's a good thing! A good writer will have enough details of each character that you as a reader will find yourself relating not so much as the experiences (maybe for some of you), but to the personal struggles one goes through. Now that's real! Take the risk and read the book, you won't be disappointed. The 2176 series comes to an exciting close with a story both complex and emotionally satisfying. Cam 'Scarlet' Tucker has been found and removed from her cryogenic container. But the efforts to keep her hidden from those that want her for political reasons fail. Cam is captured by a disguised Prince Kyber, who is still hurting from Banzai Maguire's escape and subsequent capture by the UCE. As Kyber and Cam form an emotional bond Banzai attempts to survive the brutal tortures of the UCE regime. The revolution begins, the Voice of Freedom is revealed, and Cam comes to the patriotic rescue. Recommended. This is an action-filled romance novel with loads of suspense that you have to just keep reading and not put the book down.Great characters that you will learn to love and see how they go through some exciting times to accomplish their goals.A greatlove story! This is the final story in the 2176 Series. In this story, we have the pleasure of once again being with Banzai "Bree" Maguire and the love of her life, Tyler "Ty" Armstrong. They have been constantly on the move ever since Bree managed to rescue Ty from the acting Emperor of Asia's prison. Finally deciding to call in an old favor, the two of them decide to hide out with pirates for a while. Of course, Bree can sense that something just isn't right...
We also get to discover that Southern Belle and Bree's wingman, Cameron "Scarlett" Tucker is alive and living in Mongolia. Once again, the acting Emperor strikes and manages to take Scarlett back to his home. This time, Prince Kyber has no intentions of becoming emotionally involved with his "guest", despite Scarlett's best attempts.
THE SCARLETT EMPRESS is one of the best stories I have read in 2004! Susan Grant started the 2176 series with a bang and left me crying at the end of this story. The series wraps up beautifully with all the women fighting for freedom coming together. Of course, their men are no slouches either. The biggest shock of the entire series is discovering just who the "Voice of Freedom" is. If you enjoy a good futuristic action story, don't miss THE SCARLETT EMPRESS. If you enjoy reading about strong women and equally strong men, don't miss THE SCARLETT EMPRESS. If you enjoy a story with a wonderful ending bringing on the tears, don't miss THE SCARLETT EMPRESS. In other words, this book has to be on your to be read list!

customer 's review (A Shocking Disappointment)
(Sunrise on the Mediterranean)
(A bit of a disappointment after the first three books.)
(My Least Favorite of the Series)
(Another series I wish wouldn't end!) Wow. The latest installment in Ms. Frank's time travel series was a shocking disappointment. The first three books were wonderfully written page-turners that I found to be impossible to put down. But the author should have quit at a trilogy.
The basic premise of the series has been that Cheftu&Chloe have been witnesses to actual historial events that have faded to the realm of mere legend after the passage of time. But after spending the first and third books in the series marvelling at how the grace of God had allowed them to participate in such significant Biblical events as the Ten Plagues of Egypt, The Exodus, and King David's founding of Jerusalem, Ms. Frank removes them from the court of King David to place them in a pagan society where Chloe's main accomplishment is in writing. And to do this, Cheftu&Chloe even give up being in their own bodies (which took Chloe 3 books to get back) to end their days as a blond former love-priest and former peasant girl who survived a natural disaster. It was really quite anti-climactic.
If you are a reader who must find closure with characters, read "Twilight in Babylon", but prepare yourself to be rather disappointed. If you were happy last leaving Chloe&Cheftu acheiving marital bliss and working for King David, you'll want to forego this one. When I finished Reflections on the Nile I did not know there were more as I never searched for them. I LOVED THE FIRST ONE, so-so the 2nd one . THE THIRD ONE I JUST FINISHED ABOUT 1 /2 HR. WAS HORRIBLE! So I'm on line to see what they say about the 3rd one.Doesn't make me want to buy it.! Not enough between the 2 main characters and too much so called history. It's too much in the TWILIGHT ZONE. My favorite author is DIANA GABALDON. HER NOVELS MAKE SENSE AND ARE MORE DOWN TO EARTH AND BELIEVABLE. I've been waiting two years for this book and I was thrilled to finally get it. I absolutely loved the first three in this series, however this book is leaving me very disappointed so far. I am on Chapter 6 and there are so many names I can't keep track of them all! Who are all these people?? What is their purpose? Where's Cheftu? What is the plot? If Cheftu is who I think he is why is he old enough be be Cloe's great great grandfather??
There is no flow, too many names and no plot as of yet. I really hope it gets better!
When I finally was able to find a copy of this final installment of the series, I was so excited to read it. I re-read the first three to refresh my memory with the comings and goings of our friends Chole and Cheftu. Imagine my disappointment to have to say how much I hated this book. There was almost no interaction between Chole and Cheftu, no clear explanation of how we got there or where we are going, and a really dumb story line. Ms. Frank also forgot to continue with some outstanding issues from the prior novels....like with the character Dion and a certain elixir? The only reason why I read the whole thing was to see how Ms. Frank was going to end her series. Since I'm not the kind of person who would post spoilers, let me just sum up by saying this: Big Disappointment. I am an avid reader and love ancient history, so when I stumbled upon 'Nile' I was hooked. I must say, this series is the only oen that I can read over and over again and be pulled in just as deeply each time. Each book is rich and complex, making you feel like you're living the adventure right along with the characters. I have to agree that I wish Cloe and Cheftu were together more in this final book. There were issues brought up at the end of the third novel and the prologue that just weren't resolved. I feel like Ms. Frank didn't take as much time with the last two as she did with the first two. Also, I must say that I LOVE the characters and the writing style that Ms. Frank uses in this series. The time travel, romance with such a rich historical and cultural setting is SO going to be missed! I feel like there are many other historical questions and times that Chloe and Cheftu could visit as they continue their travels.... Separated from the man she loves, Chloe Kingsley finds herself alone is Mesopotamia, haunted by memories and driven to survive. Here, in a land where upheavals in the heavens and a flood on earth portend catastrophe for mankind, the rulers demand an appeasement - a beautiful young woman to placate the gods. Determined to seek out his beloved, Cheftu finds himself trapped in a ruthless plot to shed Chloe's blood. Together they must deceive the gods and escape their enemies to save her life. Each path they've taken - from modern America to ancient Egypt to the Jerusalem of the Hebrews - has prepared them for the dangerous journey that lies ahead. Destiny foretold it., civilisation requires it, but only human love can fulfil it. Rerations < Twilight in Babylon >

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Ok) I did like this book except was confused of one thing. When you first start reading it, it says 'The Caribbean 1720', but as you read further on into the story, it has Morgan in it, bue he died in the 1600s and when she writes a letter to a friend, she says that she was transported back in time to the 1600s, but like I said, that on the first page where she appears back in time, it says that she was in the year of 1720. I can't make sense of it. It was good except that it should have kept to the timeline and not jump back 1720, then to the 1600s. Made no sense. PIRATES OF THE MIST [Time Travel Romance] Old legends told a tale of a pirate curse placed on the town of Mystic Harbor, death to anyone on the beach the night of the anniversary of the pirate Tristan Hamilton's death. The fog, thick and white, rolls in from the sea at midnight. Michaela tries to outrun it, but it was too quick for her. When she awakens, she finds more than she bargained for aboard Tristan Hamilton's ship. Tristan Hamilton, a legendary pirate, doesn't know what to make of the strange lass aboard his ship. Where did she come from? Through dangerous waters and pirates, Tristan and Michaela form a deep and passionate love that would stand the test of time. Looming over them, besides the dangers that threaten their love, is Michaela's knowledge of his history and future. Will she let history take its course or alter it and risk a possible paradox in her own time? *** "This is one of my favorite stories and was a lot of fun to write. First, I asked myself this question: What would I do if I could go back in time? Would I stay or return to my own time? If I were Michaela’s place, I would definitely stay with Tristan. Who doesn’t love a sexy pirate?" ~ Tracy ~ *** 5 Stars: "Time Travel Romance... Michaela felt like she belonged somewhere else. In the midst of a fog, she was transported back through time to 1720. I have always loved time travel books, especiallya good romance. Tracy L. Ranson has created an excellent read. Michaela and Tristan work well together. They have an instant connection. Ranson successfully adds twists to the plot. I was enthralled from page one and finished Pirates of the Mist in one sitting. Fans of romantica will enjoy Pirates of the Mist." --Debra Gaynor, Review Your Book *** 5 Stars: "If you are looking for a time travel romantic adventure, look no further than Pirates of the Mist by Tracy L. Ranson. Pirates of the Mist is a rollicking joy ride of a story, filled with action, deception, sea battles, love, lust, a hot hero, feisty heroine, and did I mention sex? The adventures keep coming as Michaela adjusts to life in the past, and tries to understand her feelings for the captain, Tristan Hamilton, a man that she had been devoted to studying before the time transference. I adore this story. It is richly filled withthe historical atmosphere of life aboard a pirate ship, and I cannot wait to read more by this author. Did I mention sex" -- Susiq2, Ecataromance *** Reviewer Top Pick: 4.75 Hearts "This is the first Tracy L. Ranson book I’ve read. Ms. Ranson writes Michaela as a feisty young woman who practicesself-defense. This and her remaining in her 20/21st century character create some interesting dramas. Tristan, as ship captain, claims Michaela as his and they have a budding romance. The author crosses the t's and dots the i's awarding us with an intelligent and intriguing time-travel novel." -- Dee, Night Owl Romance *** 4 Angels: "The reader gets a very good idea of who Michaela and Tristan are. Their characters are developed and they feel like very real people. The storyline is fast paced as it takes place mainly on the ship. The fighting, romance, and erotic action are fully incorporatedwithin the storyline. The author fully utilizes Michaela’s knowledge of the future to enhance and further the story. It had this reader wanting to smack Tristan when he doubted what Michael was telling him. All of it added up to one highly entertaining book. Pirates of the Mist is a terrific timetravel story that romance readers will enjoy!" -- Susan T, Fallen Angel Reviews *** 4 Hearts: "Pirates of the Mist by Tracy L. Ranson is a passionate adventure through time. It is an exciting tale of a headstrong modern woman and dominating pirate and how they fall in love. The sex is hot and sweaty, described in explicit terms for the reader's enjoyment. The past and the present come together in a unique way and the ending will definitely leave the reader smiling." -- Anita, The Romance Studio Rerations < Pirates of the Mist >
