The fog, thick and white, rolls in from the sea at midnight. Michaela tries to outrun it, but it was too quick for her. When she awakens, she finds more than she bargained for aboard Tristan Hamilton's ship. Tristan Hamilton, a legendary pirate, doesn't know what to make of the strange lass aboard his ship. Where did she come from? Through dangerous waters and pirates, Tristan and Michaela form a deep and passionate love that would stand the test of time. Looming over them, besides the dangers that threaten their love, is Michaela's knowledge of his history and future. Will she let history take its course or alter it and risk a possible paradox in her own time? *** "This is one of my favorite stories and was a lot of fun to write. First, I asked myself this question: What would I do if I could go back in time? Would I stay or return to my own time? If I were Michaela’s place, I would definitely stay with Tristan. Who doesn’t love a sexy pirate?" ~ Tracy ~ *** 5 Stars: "Time Travel Romance... Michaela felt like she belonged somewhere else. In the midst of a fog, she was transported back through time to 1720. I have always loved time travel books, especiallya good romance. Tracy L. Ranson has created an excellent read. Michaela and Tristan work well together. They have an instant connection. Ranson successfully adds twists to the plot. I was enthralled from page one and finished Pirates of the Mist in one sitting. Fans of romantica will enjoy Pirates of the Mist." --Debra Gaynor, Review Your Book *** 5 Stars: "If you are looking for a time travel romantic adventure, look no further than Pirates of the Mist by Tracy L. Ranson. Pirates of the Mist is a rollicking joy ride of a story, filled with action, deception, sea battles, love, lust, a hot hero, feisty heroine, and did I mention sex? The adventures keep coming as Michaela adjusts to life in the past, and tries to understand her feelings for the captain, Tristan Hamilton, a man that she had been devoted to studying before the time transference. I adore this story. It is richly filled withthe historical atmosphere of life aboard a pirate ship, and I cannot wait to read more by this author. Did I mention sex" -- Susiq2, Ecataromance *** Reviewer Top Pick: 4.75 Hearts "This is the first Tracy L. Ranson book I’ve read. Ms. Ranson writes Michaela as a feisty young woman who practicesself-defense. This and her remaining in her 20/21st century character create some interesting dramas. Tristan, as ship captain, claims Michaela as his and they have a budding romance. The author crosses the t's and dots the i's awarding us with an intelligent and intriguing time-travel novel." -- Dee, Night Owl Romance *** 4 Angels: "The reader gets a very good idea of who Michaela and Tristan are. Their characters are developed and they feel like very real people. The storyline is fast paced as it takes place mainly on the ship. The fighting, romance, and erotic action are fully incorporatedwithin the storyline. The author fully utilizes Michaela’s knowledge of the future to enhance and further the story. It had this reader wanting to smack Tristan when he doubted what Michael was telling him. All of it added up to one highly entertaining book. Pirates of the Mist is a terrific timetravel story that romance readers will enjoy!" -- Susan T, Fallen Angel Reviews *** 4 Hearts: "Pirates of the Mist by Tracy L. Ranson is a passionate adventure through time. It is an exciting tale of a headstrong modern woman and dominating pirate and how they fall in love. The sex is hot and sweaty, described in explicit terms for the reader's enjoyment. The past and the present come together in a unique way and the ending will definitely leave the reader smiling." -- Anita, The Romance Studio Rerations < Pirates of the Mist >

(Always Mine Time travel Romance;)
(Could Have Been A Contender)
(Superb! A MUST READ! UNIQUE HISTORICAL PARANORMAL) Sophia Johnson is a fairly new auther to me. I read the last book in this series first and enjoyed it enough to seek out the others. I am a fan of well written midieval romance and this author does it very well. I will be watching for more of her work. As a young child Lydia Hunter was drawn to the portrait of an eleventh century laird, Damron of Blackthorn Castle. Claiming Lord Damron as her own, Lydia is compelled to visit the Highlands every year. This year's visit proves to be like none before. This trip to Blackthorn castle sends Lydia Hunter back in time to the eleventh century where everyone calls her Brianna and she comes face to face with `her' Lord Damron.
Known as a fierce warrior, Lord Damron is loyal to his king. When he is ordered to marry the purportedly meek Saxon, Brianna, he is less than thrilled. However, the Brianna he meets is anything but mild. Lord Damron's bride is spirited and bold. Claiming Brianna using his might will not work for Lord Damron. Brianna's heart cannot be claimed; it can only be given.
I absolutely adored Sophia Johnson's Always Mine! The concept of two souls being joined across time is so very romantic. While Damron is fierce and so totally Alpha, he doesn't cross the line and become a brute. Damron is totally tingle worthy! Brianna's strength of heart makes her a perfect complement to Damron, and the pair is a very charismatic couple. Always Mine is powerfully passionate and a treat for the heart.
Annmarie Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed I was really disappointed with this book. It would have been a great romance if the reincarnation body soul was left out. I thought I was reading a reincarnation Creed at the end of the story. The plot and threme of modern day Lydia in love with hot looking Scotish laird Damron and travel back to 1072,was good, but I didn't like her coming into the body of Brianna instead of her own body. What I couldn't understand is when Lydia/Brianna finally realize she was at last with the man she was in love with since childhood. Why did she keep herself distance. The conflict between the two was good. However they didn't grow together at the end. I didn't like the still born birth of their infant daughter. I don't know why the author put that in? This was the first Sophia Johnson book I'd read And I wasn't impress. This story just didn't gel for me. I mean Lydia finally gets the chance to meet the man she had been longing for her entire life and spends most of the book fighting and acting like a spoiled brat instead of a modern woman. She just didn't seem like the same level-headed person who was presented in the beginning of the book. I just felt that a person with her experience from being married, divorced and having a very impressive resume to boot would have used her brains more than her preferred method of cursing and name calling to deal with her problems. The only things left out of her repertoire was stamping her feet and sticking out her tongue. At least Damron had an excuse for his behavior actually being from that time while Lydia dealt with her problems like someone without a brain. Another aspect of Lydia's character that didn't gel for me was that she came across as a virginal school girl when dealing with the sexual aspects of the book instead of a grown woman with some experience. Lydia Hunter has always be obsessed with the portrait of Lord Damron in Blackthorn's Museum, but it is a surprise when she is suddenly transported back in time, only to come face to face with the man who haunts her. But Lydia is now in the body of Brianna Sinclair, and as much as she has always thought of this man, the real Lord Damron is not like she thought at all.
Lord Damron is ordered by the king to marry Brianna Sinclair and take over Blackthorn Castle. Damron had no wish to marry and would get out of it if he could. He heard the Lady Brianna was meek and mild, but the woman he meets is not mild, and definitely not meek. That only intrigues him more, but Lord Damron would never let another woman near his heart again.
After Damron and Lydia are married, Damron keeps his suspicions and watches every move Lydia makes. Lydia does not want to get close to Damron, with the fear of being taken back to her time. Damron waits for betrayal, and betrayal and treachery are not far behind. Could Damron and Lydia get past these obstacles to have a future?
SUPERB! Ms. Johnson has penned another wonderful historical, and this time added the twist of time travel. This story is truly amazing as Ms. Johnson shows her creativity by making the time travel believable, and the use of dated dialect. Very strong characters are the center of attention in this lovely tale, but there are also some very important second characters. Breathtakingly sensual, you will love the relationship between Lydia and Damron. Ms. Johnson has become a favorite author of this reader, and after you read Always Mine, I think you will be hooked too.

The great Lord Damron is no more than a shadowy, powerful presence in the ruins of Blackthorn Castle. But the compelling gaze of his portrait draws Lydia Hunter to stand before him - and fall through time to become his beloved Lady Brianna. A tempestuous man with an incendiary nature, whose fury on the battlefield quickly routs his foes, Lord Damron must claim his Scottish kingdom and his bride. But Brianna's heart can be claimed in only one way - her way. And his iron strength is no match for her gentleness... Rerations < Always Mine (Zebra Historical Romance) >

customer 's review (Quick and easy read, entertaining and thought-provoking story)
(oh my goodness!)
(Loved it!)
(Read her other ones instead)
(Time After Time) I was actually surprised by this book, in that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I love time-travel novels and a friend gave me this one to read ... now I'm going to find more by the author!
I will say it was a very quick and easy read, with some depth and some very comical scenes. Some of the central themes about love and death made me think. I do think Kelly assimilated into 19th century life a little too easily. And that the 19th century people she interacted with seemed to take her bold and unorthodox ways a little too smoothly. However these issues didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.
I especially loved Mammy Clara and Miss O'Days character portrayal of her ...what a rich and rewarding character. All in all, I'm gladI read it.
P.S. The story would make for a fabulous movie! I picked up this book for a hopeful quick read at the beach and was not disappointed! First time reading this author and I am now searching for her other books! Highly recommended! I loved this book. I felt like the characters were really developed, and you could truly understand the progression of the romantic relationship. I enjoy lots of romance novels, but many develop into love out of the blue! One minute their fighting but lusting and the next they're declaring undying love. This author took me with the characters through their feelings;it felt real. I can't wait to read more of her novels. I've been reading Constance O'Day-Flannery's books for a while now, and I always pick up every new one. But this one is a major disappointment! The characters are flat, too nicey-nice, and it's just really boring. I used to believe in the romance in her novels, but, in her last three or four, she's gotten too New Agey (and I say this as a native Californian) and has forgotten the basic principles of romance. Try her earlier ones instead, especially "Once in a Lifetime," which is really good. An interesting attempt at looking at how a modern woman may (or may NOT) adjust to being thrown back in time 100 years. The main character spends a great deal of time railing against the concept of time travel and saying it isn't possible. A majority of the book is spent with the main character coming to "acceptance" of the situation and building relationships with other women in the time. The actual romance is a secondary and minor plot. The male lead is not the focus of the character development and seems pretty flat. If you are looking for a story with a woman having trouble accepting her situation, this book is for you. If you're looking for a in-depth romance, this book misses the mark.
Bestselling award-winning author Constance O'Day-Flannery is the one true Queen of Time Travel Romance. Join her now in a story of a disillusioned young widow who returns to the past, caught, to her horror, in an unflattering lime green bridesmaid's dress when she meets the man whose love is destined to be hers. Time After TimeAfter existing in a fog since the death of her beloved husband, Kelly Brennan is suddenly ready to take control of her life. Only she didn't expect her new life to begin in post-Civil War New Orleans. Kelly isn't sure if she's losing her mind or just enjoying a really good dream ... one chat comes complete with a man who looks strikingly similar to her late husband. Widower Daniel Gilmore is the epitome of the Southern gentleman: charming, handsome and with a devilish glint in his eye that calls to the dormant heart she's locked away. In the years since Daniel's wife passed away he has shuttered himself off from those dearest to him, and not even his precocious daughter Lizzie has been able to draw him out of his misery. But then Lizzie brings home a strange woman in a dreadful gown who speaks about odd things called "automobiles" and "telephones" -- a woman who bears a remarkable resemblance to his wife. With a daughter in need of a mother and a heart in need of love Daniel yearns to keep Kelly by his side ... provided he can let go of the past long, enough to live in the present and convince Kelly that his present is where she belongs... (Time travel romance)
(misleading cover)
(Good to read)
(A wonderful Surprise!) I've read multiple Susan Krinard novels, and this is my favorite. While it travels in time, it's not so caught up in "Timely dialogue" that can be confusing to the present day reader. The hero is strong, though a chauvinist, but that's not unexpected. The heroine is strong and funny. This book touched my heart and popped it's way right into the top favorites of time travel. Doesn't quite beat Knight in Shining Armour, but it is pretty good! MacKenzie Rose Sinclair (Mac) had promised her grandfather that she would return to the Guatemalan jungles of Tikal to return a Mayan pendant belonging to her great great grandfather Peregrine Sinclair. For her grandfather, Homer, believes that Peregrine betrayed his friend and partner Liam O Shea by abandoning him in the jungle. Homer believes that their family have been cursed by Liam and that the only way to break the curse was to return the pendant to the jungle. After Homer passes away, Mac keeps her promise and travels to Tikal, the Mayan ruins in Guatemala. She finds herself walking into a tunnel deep in the jungles and comes across a set of bones with a similar pendant hanging around its neck. She takes the two pendants and suddenly feels unwell, feeling queasy and the ground beneath her feet disappearing. The next thing she knows when walking out of the tunnel she bumps into man who looks very much like the man Liam O Shea, who she has seen an old photo. In fact, she later finds out that it is indeed the man himself she has been transported back in time to 1884. Mac finds herself attracted to the handsome but very macho Liam. And Liam despite finding Mac a little strange can't help finding himself being attracted to her in return. The second half of the book is set in 1884 San Fransisco where Mac must prevent Liam from marrying his ward who happens to be her great great grandmother Caroline Gresham whom she must ensure marry her great great grandfather Peregrine Sinclair. The first half of this book was great. The setting was adventurous and exotic. I had a fun time reading Mac and Liam's reaction to what they perceived to be strange behaviour in the other. Their mutual attraction was very engaging and it was nice to read that Mac wasn't your typical beauty but that Liam was still attracted to her all the same. I found the second half of the book a bit boring and couldn't wait for Mac and Liam to get back to the Guatemalan jungle. I really didn't care much for the characters in the second half of the book. I would have given the book 5 stars if the action had continued as in the first half of the book. However, it was still an excellent read as with all of Susan Krinard's books. She has such a wonderful imagination and knows how to pull you into her stories. A brilliant storyteller with high standards for others to keep up with. Lealing The title twice a hero really refers to Mac- (Mackenzie), the heroine of the novel- not the hero. I found this a refreshing change. She time travels back in time- not only meets a man, but has to matchmake her number of times great grandparents to each other! Also there is danger- someone wants to kill the man she loves. Unfortunely he thinks it her numerous time great grandfather who is trying to kill him, and he intends to marry her numerous times great grandmother. I gave the book only three stars even though the plot was great because the book draged in places and the writing could have been somewhat better. I like time travel story and as well as romantic adventure. This book is for someone like me. I like the first part of book better than the second part in which the background setting changes. But I thoroughly enjoy the book. Hero is tough guy who protect woman whom he care. And heroin is not so typical innocent weak romance book character. If you want something more strong, intense, hot romantic adventure, you'd better check Linda Howard's " Heart of Fire". That is even better.Though it's not the best of this genre, it's worth of try. The Characters: The herione of this story is McKenzie (Mac) Rose Sinclair, the last of the noble Sinclair line, reknown explorers/adventerers. There is also Liam O'Shea and his partner, Perry Sinclair, two men who, in the 1880's, discovered the site of a Mayan ruin in Guatemala. And there is Liam's ward, Caroline, a young woman just turning 18, whom Liam seeks to protect and Perry seeks to wed.The World The very beginning is set in modern times, but this is a time travel book, so we end up in San Francisco, 1884. The Plot: It starts simple enough: Mac is urged by her dying uncle to seek out the forgiveness of one long-dead Liam O'Shea for the wrong doing of their ancestor, Peregrine Sinclair. Seems that the two partners had a falling out. Perry left Liam in the jungle, and Liam died. Since then the Sinclair line has not had a whole lot of luck... Feeling foolish but spurred by curiosity, Mac ventures off... Obviously she is transported, via two charms that were previously apart that she reunited, and a time-obsessed Mayan temple, into the past. Thus we embark on a rather humorous and always entertaining story, where Mac finds herself falling in love with Liam and realising that, should Liam succeed in marrying Caroline, who dotes on him, then she, Mac, very well may not exist, as Caroline and Perry are her great-whatever grandparents... The Grade: I love Krinard's work; I bought this book soley because she wrote it and because I desired more than 3 books in my half.com order. I wasn't expecting to like it and I wasn't expecting it to move to the top of the list like it did, outplacing itself on the werewolf romances that she has already written. (Only the two that I've read) It is easily my favorite book by her, and very possibly my favorite romance book. The plot takes precedence, not always the case in romances. We have a whole one sex scene and two near-sex scenes. Liam, mind, is as chauvinistic as they come, but it was part of the times.... All in all a great read and one that some should at least consider. Five Stars from me! Zack Rawlins didn't become the youngest president of the Bandera County Cattlemen's Association by backing down from a challenge. So when beautiful but hot-tempered sheepherder Bailey McShane barged into the cattlemen's saloon and accused them of stealing precious water from her land, he waded into the fray...and came out in a heap of trouble. With drought-stricken Bandera County on the brink of a range war, no self-respecting cattleman would be caught dead taking sides with a woman who raises sheep--but Zack can't stay away from this pint-size wildcat. Now he's facing two dangerous battles: one with a town full of stubborn ranchers at one another's throats; the other with an unpredictable woman who refuses to be tamed. Readers were all raves when Susan Krinard burst on the scene withPrince of Wolves. Then she wrote the wonderfulPrince of Dreamsand guaranteed herself a legion of fans. This is her first time-travel and you won't be disappointed! As always, Susan plays with the familiar and makes it original. A deathbed promise sends Mac to Guatemala where she hopes to dispel a family curse. At the ruins in Tikkal she is transported back into time, where she must depend on her ancestor's enemy and former partner, Liam O'Shea, for aid. Liam proves to be the definition of refined masculinity and more than a savior to Mac. Rerations < Twice a Hero >

(Not the best of the three)
(Fast read but a bit tedious)
(TESS MALLORY)
(Superb book) I am not into time traveling books or when the heros desire the heroine from page one. The story also seemed too predictable. I stopped reading the book around page 60. Samantha Riley is the heroine is this book and best friend of Jix (book 1) and Chelsea (book 2). It took me forever to warm up the Sam due to her attitude. But in the end she came around and saw in herself what other people knew was in her heart. There were time you just want to shake her and say what the hell is your problem. I did enjoy the first 2 books more that this one. Samantha Riley has found the love of her life in Duncan Campbell, but instead of doing something about it, she runs away from him. Duncan works for Samantha's father so this means Samantha also has to stay away from her father and make excuses as to why she can't make a three-hour drive to see him.
Samantha's father, Patrick Riley, also knows Duncan is the man for Samantha. He summons Samantha home and tries to talk some sense into her but she won't relent. She will live her life the way she wants to and nobody, especially her father, will tell her how to live it for her or even whom to marry. After that argument, Samantha's father suffers a stroke and languishes in a coma.
Duncan Campbell is not a typical guy. He is a Scottish warrior who was born in medieval times and has been traveling through time through the use of crystals. He has spent most of his life trying to get back to a certain time to right a wrong he committed during one of his travels.
Samantha is filled with guilt and shame over her behavior but she won't allow anyone to comfort her. She yells at everyone to leave her alone. Duncan, however, won't listen to her. On a stormy night, he convinces Samantha to ride out with him to Jacob's Well to check on some green crystals he's been looking for. He finds them and says his goodbyes to Samantha. But before the crystals light up, lightning strikes and the crystals energy sweeps both Samantha and Duncan back to medieval Scotland.
They arrive at the village of Nirdagh, at the exact time Duncan has been trying to get back to. The first time Duncan visited Nirdagh, he fell in love with Talamar, a girl who was betrothed to a powerful laird named Gwain from another clan. Because of their love, Talamar was burned at the stake and Duncan escaped to another time. This time, Duncan is determined to save Talamar.
Samantha is jealous. Because of her jealousy, she spends most of her time baiting Duncan, fighting with him, manipulating him. And to make matters worse, and despite Duncan's warnings, Samantha assures Talamar that she will talk Gwain into breaking off the engagement so Talamar can marry whom she loves. Her meddling is not without consequences for it puts her, Duncan and the villagers in jeopardy of Gwain's wrath.
I know this book is part of a series but I, unfortunately, didn't read the other two before tackling this one. I couldn't bring myself to even like Samantha. She is a headstrong, unsympathetic spoiled brat who spends most of her time fighting with other characters. It actually became a bit tedious as she continually played her games manipulating Duncan and arguing with him, even when there is no real reason to. This story, of course, has to have a happy ending but in reality, I'm not sure anyone, even her family, could've put up with Samantha's shrewish behavior.
This is the third book in the series. Each friend has her own story. Jix Ferguson in Highland Dream, Chelsea Brown in Highland Fling, and Samantha Riley in Highland Magic. Tess Mallory is such a great author and I love all her books, but...I did not like the characters Jix Ferguson or Samantha Riley. Chelsea was more or less neglected in this threesome friendship. They were actually very cruel to her and made fun of her behind her back. She is my favorite female character from all three of these books. The male characters are fine and very likeable. Samantha is just horribly insensitive and a nonsympathetic character and got a man who certainly could have done much much better.
The only reason I read this third book, and it took months to do it, is because it was three-book series.
Duncan Campbell is desperate to time travel back into the far past to save a girl he wasn't able to help before. This time lightning struck, sending both he and a modern day female doctor, Samantha Riley, back to ancient Scotland where the people there believe her to be the Queen of the Fairies. When an evil plot was about to destroy all of them, Samatha found only one thing could save them..Highland Magic. Rerations < Highland Magic (Time Travel Romance) >

In many ways it reminds me of your classic love stories of Japanese mangna and anime, except of course that it has nothing to do with that at all! But those romantic elements are all there. You know where this is going, but how it gets there is all magic. What's very interesting about this is that it's not just the story of the main characters, but of generations of their families and how they intertwine. Such depth is usually lacking in American romantic stories. But anyone familiar with Japanese mangna or anime knows what I'm talking about. HOMESONG is the best American representation of this that I've seen. And as usual with these types of stories, the end is also the beginning. The crafting of this beginning/ending is something that you will definitely remember, and in itself is worth buying the book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a real, romantic story. In a small town, everyone knows everything about everybody. Or do they? For twenty years, Kate Doyle has been haunted by the night when she was forced to flee from her tiny Virginia home town and abandon her childhood sweetheart, Reed Fitzgerald. So when Kate, now in her mid-30s, escapes her unhappy life in Washington, DC and takes a much-needed vacation, the last thing she expects is to be reunited with Reed. Now, under the warm clear Caribbean sun, amid ancient churches and pink flamingos, Kate and Reed seek to revive the love that they thought was gone forever. But will small-town secrets ruin their last chance for happiness? Woven into the modern tale of Kate and Reed are the tales of those who came before them. Their mothers: teenagers in the chaotic 1960s, best friends who are in love with the same man although only one of them knows it. Reed's grandmother: already a bitter old woman by the 1930s, she would do anything to carry on the family name...and would drive away anyone who came between her and her grandson. And even the founder of the town: in 1865, what guilty secret drove one man to bring his two daughters across the ocean from Ireland and settle in the dark Virginia hills? At its heart, Homesong is the story of a small town: its lies and truths, its beginnings and endings. It's about proud secrets, unrestrained joy, and the old adage that you may leave your home, but it never really leaves you.

(White Rose)
(Fantastic historical romance)
(Knight Errant)
(Fun, Imaginative Yet Overlong Time-Travel Romance) I didn't expect to enjoy Knight Errant at all. Much to my surprise, I did - enormously. I agree with other reviewers who commented that it drags in the middle, there's too much setting, the character of Edward doesn't seem at all like his real historical self, the witchcraft is all a little bit too convenient, etc etc. But somehow I found myself unable to put it down.
I found Robyn and Edward very sympathetic and likeable characters - it's a real shame that Edward is off-stage for much of the novel. He's only 17 - very young, but older in the Middle Ages than it is today! The American tourist/time traveller Robyn's age is never given, but seems to be early thirties or thereabouts. I suppose it is pretty implausible that a 17-year-old, the most eligible bachelor in England, would fall instantly and irreversibly in love with a woman so much older, who's a complete misfit in his society. But what the heck, it's a fantasy! Edward is everything a medieval hero should be, brave, chivalrous, courteous, romantic, loving, caring, and of course very handsome.
There are arguably far too many descriptions of places, not really needed in the story, but I'm from England and I liked seeing my country described in so much detail. :) I've been to many of the places Robertson describes, and he's extremely accurate.
All in all, I found Knight Errant rather silly, when looked at dispassionately, but wildly entertaining. It's the kind of novel where you really have to suspend your disbelief and ignore all the crazy implausibilities. Just go with the flow, and you might end up enjoying it as much as I did! I have read the first two books in the series and loved them. The third one is also interesting, the characters likeable, but the ending left me wondering. I really hope this series will have a fourth book because there's some serious questions that must be answered. And fans don't want to be left feeling dread for the main characters. Has anyone heard anything about this? The series was so good, it would be a terrible shame to end it on this note.
