customer 's review (Great book!!)
(Love once&Forever)
(A History to Remember) This is a great book if you like to read time travel books. I would recommend this author a favorite. This was a wonderful story. You feel taken out of reality for a short time while reading this book. I was stunned to find that no one has reviewed this book before. I really enjoyed it. A technologically advanced society, long forgotten in the world's history has a crisis and develops a plan to bring people BACK in time to help them. Time travel, and the problem the society faces aren't original ideas. But going back in-time to a society more advanced then your own gives the tale a unique twist. The novelty of this is lost a little purely because the society is so advanced. It is easy for the reader to think "future" instead of "past."This didn't bother me at all. I loved the story. You have a society desperate to survive and people from the future who at first just want to go home, but most of these people decide to help out before they leave. Speer handles the anger, frustration, fear, and upheaval experienced by the time travelers with remarkable skill. I think some of the travelers were a little too quick to forgive, but even as a reader I felt for the "kidnappers." How can you not. They are facing the destruction of not just their way of life, but there very existence. Speer did a remarkable job developing their characters as well. I really liked the differences between the various societies, culturally, spiritually, physiology, and of course technology. Instead of presenting the people from various times as the same, she developed differences that piqued the readers interest (and the time travelers interest too) Like I said great book. I recommend it to anyone who likes time travel and futuristic stories. I even recommend it to those of you (who like me) enjoy the complexities of human relations. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!! (A Romance Worthy Of Shakespeare!)
(Romeo vs. Juliet) A wonderfully fun read looking forward to reading more of her works. In the past I have enjoyed her short stories. Cannot wait for more from Ms. Hogg. Both my wife and myself enjoyed the book from start to end. a real page turner. This story grabs the attention of the reader from the first page and does not let it go until the end. Josephine is spunky, charismatic, and lovable, while still being willing to kick some butt here and there. Ambrose is the kind of hero any girl would love to meet in a bar and take home. Don't miss out on this delightful read sure to charm even the most cynical romantic. Laura Hogg's novel Romeo vs. Juliet is a story that zips the reader from one time period to another. Ambrose works for Queen Elizabeth 1st but in his travels he searches for the one women who can make him happy - Josephine. When he finds her, Josephine falls head over heels for the man she thinks is prefect. Deeply disappointed to learn he's not, she sets upon a mission to prevent his evil deeds from taking place. If you love a fast paced read, this book is for you. Ambrose works for Queen Elizabeth Ist and has searched the centuries for his beloved Josephine, from Cleopatra's court and Charlemagne's service to 1950s America and the twenty second century. He has finally found her. He takes his love from twenty-first century America back to Elizabethan England for a short while. These two have a steamy, deep love affair, and all is well until he does something that forces her to stand up to him. She must chase him through time to stop his sinister plan from coming to full fruition. The problem is, every time they meet up, they fall into each other's arms, unable to deny the crazy feelings they have for each other. Still, she has a mission and must complete it or die trying. Josephine is called to be a hero and discovers her darker side.

(A New Spin on Time Travel)
(Witty and vibrant)
(Beautiful Tale)
(A riveting read!) I just finished this book, the 2nd time travel I've read, and I thought it was excellent. It was a real page turner. For the most part, it didn't have a lot of funny scenes (except when it finally dawns on Nadine that she isn't in Kansas anymore, just after deciding that everyone was not in on some kind of a joke involving her), but the last line in the book was hysterical! It ended on such a happy note. I really liked Faulk, and I realized fairly early on that he truly loved Nadine, though he denied it through to nearly the end. The book was more of a reincarnation book than a time travel, I thought. If it had been more of a time travel, it would have been interesting to see the medeval Nadine in our modern times. I hope to read Sandra Landry's other book, The Wishing Chalice, soon. Modern day Nadine du Monte reluctantly leaves her family in Rouen, France to study in London. Prior to leaving, Nadine and a friend decide to visit a gypsy--who prophesizes that 'death is only a transitional time' which initiates a vision in which Nadine sees herself--or at least a woman who LOOKS like her and shares the same name 800 years in the past. Unnerved by the experience, Nadine seeks comfort from her beloved mother before she leaves for London. Upon her arrival, however, Nadine learns that both parents perished in an auto accident that day. Unable to get a late flight, Nadine faces her crippling fear of water and boards a ferry across the English Channel. Once again, Nadine is overcome with a vision of the medieval Nadine and falls overboard. Lord Faulk of Whitecastle, loyal knight of Richard II, had long delayed acting on his promise to his father to return from the battlefield, take a wife and sire an heir. Upon his father's death, Faulk guiltily returned to Whitecastle intending to immediately carry out his duty. Only when he found the waterlogged body of Nadine du Monte lying upon the beach near his home did he recall the witch's prophesy: a golden vision with the mark of the rose would come from the water and would be the only woman who could bear his children. Cared for by Faulk's beloved retainer, Nadine recovers and finds herself, unbelievably, in the 13th century. Reluctant to accept her circumstances, plagued with the grief from her parents' deaths and trying to understand the flashes of "memories" she experiences of her apparent previous life in medieval England, Nadine must temporarily rely on Faulk's largesse. She refuses, however, his offers of marriage, but does find herself powerfully attracted to the honorable man who believes she is the woman of a prophesy. To complicate Nadine's identity crisis even further, a man claiming to be her betrothed arrives at Whitecastle and demands she return to Rouen with him immediately. Nadine's memories of her medieval life return in bits and pieces and she cannot recall her bethrothed. She decides to return to Rouen to learn more about herself, but the man she has come to love and the man who claims to be her betrothed constantly posture and fight. Upon her arrival in Rouen, Nadine learns of her medieval life and is inundated with the memories of her former life and, conversely, her memories from her modern life become vague and distant. Faulk knows Nadine is the woman of the prophesy and must find a way to make her his. He cannot, however, offer her his love because of the betrayal he suffered from his first wife. Nadine loves Faulk and realizes that she could live happily in medieval England with him--if she could believe that he wanted her for more than just her ability to bear his children and fulfill his promise to his dead father. But the prophesy must be satisfied or Nadine will be returned to the future--and only Faulk's love will hold her in his time.An original combination of time travel, reincarnation and prophesy. A great debut from Sandra Landry. This was a wonderful story full of heart and wit and was a enjoyable read. I would recommend it to anyone who loves romance or especially time travel romance. I really enjoyed reading A Perfect Love. It's a very interesting story and made me laugh and feel tender at the same time. All the confusion situations of past and contemporary are showed in a very funny way during the dialogues between the two main characters. A love with no barriers, even time... I'm longing to read something else from this author, definitely she has her own style! This is a book I couldn't put down! Great characters, great plot, great pacing-- this book has it all. Do yourself a favor and buy it today! A contemporary English beauty finds herself washed ashore and clinging to life-in the 12th century. customer 's review (Sizemore Doesn't Disappoint)
(Autmn Lord, by Susan Sizemore)
(Great Time Travel that Plays Off the King Arthur Legend)
(A Wonderful Medieval Tale With Twists...)
(Couldn't put it down) As with Wings of the Storm, Susan Sizemore has found a way to do time-travel romance in a way that no other author has been able to duplicate (that I've seen, anyway.)
The differences between now and the Good Old Days are brought up in subtle ways - the heroine wishing for a toothbrush, the descriptions of the meals and accommodations, the situations of the characters, male and female... it all brings the reader to reflect on our own time and circumstance and say Thank You AMEN!
The plot of Autumn Lord is, as others have written, a twist on the Arthurian legend. The time-traveler - a modern Asian American woman - is viewed as a monster by many of the inhabitants of 12th century France. The attitude of the priest toward her is particularly enlightening.
I really enjoyed this book, though I did enjoy Wings of the storm much more.
(*)> This dealer is always reliable. The book arrived quickly and is in good condition. THE AUTUMN LORD is out of print, but it is definitely worth the effort to find a used copy. One of the best time travel romances I've read, THE AUTUMN LORD plays off of the King Arthur legend by having a Merlin-like old wizard from medieval France zap modern-day heroine Diane into the past and into the life of Simon, a handsome lord made bitter by his wife's betrayal and son's mad desire to kill him.
There are four things I adored about this book. One, Diane has a very "real" reaction to being transported back in time. She's terrified and refreshingly un-heroine like in that she's not trying to change the past or save anyone as much as she's simply trying to survive. Two, Diane is cursed with the inability to talk unless she's singing a song or telling a story, which makes for a very thoughtful (and vulnerable) character. Three, Diane is part Chinese, so almost every character in the book vilifies her right away, convinced she's a demon or evil, and abuses her as such. This is a sad, but unique, approach to the time travel romance, highlighting the danger over the curiosity/exploration of the past. Finally, this book has an ending that is not only satisfying, but also rewrites the Arthurian legend as well.
If you are looking for a fresh and unique take to the time travel romance, read THE AUTUMN LORD. Highly recommended!
This was one of the best medieval time travel romances I have ever read. A young half Asian woman is transported to medieval France by a wizard intent on rescuing his friend from a doomed future. It is unique in that most such stories usually have Caucasian heroines. Her Asian heritage is critical to the storylne because, being so exotic, people from this era mistake her for a demon or the like. In the modern world the heroine is a sort of film critic. When she first arrives in medieval France, she is forced into the role of storyteller, and the stories she tells, based on movies, put into medieval terms, is hilarious. "Casablanca" and the Godfather" will never look the same to me again! Loved the ending, don't read ahead! This romance novel is one of the few that I have read that I couldn't put down. Diane and Simon we perfectly written and the raport between the two you could feel. The wizardary and the settings made this book even better.
The ending made it all come together .
Recommend to anyone who loves to read a book with emotion , conflict, and a plot.

(Promising author needs a decent editor...)
(Not for everyone)
(Yes to New Premise, No to Overall Quality)
(A riveting romance for gamers and fantasy lovers alike) If you like your books to contain a mix of romance, sci-fi, and action, then Moongazer is a must-read. It hooks you in starting with the first page and not once loses its fast-paced momentum. The post-apocalyptic world Mancusi has created is compelling, as are Skye's struggles as she tries to unravel her true identity and which reality to believe in -- the life she believes to have on Earth, or the darker version of it that she doesn't even recall in the world known as Terra. Skye's first-person narration is delightful to read and is enough to keep your eyes glued to the pages even if the book wasn't filled with impressive world-building and clever plot twists. I especially loved how Skye was a video game designer, for it added different depths to the quandary of reality. The romance that develops between Skye and Dawn helps keep the story grounded amidst the action and will draw you in as much as the other gripping aspects of the book. The characters have great chemistry together, adding just the right amount of tension to an already suspenseful plot. Moongazer is one of the better paranormal romances I have read in a while, and I recommend that you take a break from reality and pick up your own copy to immerse yourself in now. This novel starts out with a pretty good kick and even though you will think of "Total Recall" by the end of the second chapter you will not care because this is a chick book, after all, and the mystery of Skye's true identity/reality will keep you reading.
The problem arises after chapter six. That is when the story and the writing really begins to suffer. There is a great deal of repeation which drags the plot right down to the ground and the Author seems to have written herself into a corner unable to move the story decisively forward which kills the credibility of the storyline. This is frustrating for the reader, as I began to focus on the storyline imperfections that could have been fixed! Therefore, I couldn't quite bring myself to blame the author. My big issue is, "Where was her editor?" It seems to me that this is where the services of a good editor was needed to smooth over this uncertain area.
To back up this conclusion the book miraculously resumes momentum from chapter 15 on to a satisfying surprise-twist ending. This however does not excuse the 158 pages of dead-air. This kind of uneveness irks me. Did the author just not recieve the editoral help she needed? Or did the editor tell her it was great but needed filler because otherwise it would have been a novella?
This book had potential, unfortunately a cool-slick cover does not excuse it's easily fixable imperfections. I really wanted to like this book. When I first saw it, I'll admit that I was drawn to it by the artwork and then the description on the back, along with the first chapter which I read while shopping. But as I dived further into the world, it began to lose its luster, and slowed to a screeching halt.
First, I wanted to like this book, I really did. I usually love books with futuristic settings and slightly quirky romances. The premise was good- a woman who seems to travel between worlds, and the main character is interesting, as a geeky gamer girl/cultural icon. Normally, I don't post negative reviews, but I'd heard such good things about this book and wanted to let other readers know that they might need to temper their expectations. Jayne Castle crossed with J.D. Robb/Kelley Armstrong/Sherrilyn Kenyon/Sharon Shinn, it is not. Yes, perhaps that was high hopes, but with such rave reviews...
I found the actual plot progression between the two romantic interests quite unbelievable and the author's writing style off-putting. Additionally, Skye's inner pondering and pouting pushed me away more than they pulled me in. The premise also reminded me of Piers Anthony's Total Recall a bit, but not nearly as interesting.
This book gets a tepid "Meh" from me. Won't be reading this author again. Dorchester SHOMI continues the theme of alternative reality with MOONGAZER the second title in this new action romance imprint.
Skye Brown is a game designer for Chix0r an all female video company based in New York City. With a deadline for a new game imminent, Skye is troubled by dreams that are interfering with her work as well as her sleep. The dreams involve a post-apocalyptic underground world called Terra, which has striking similarities to Earth. There she finds herself a fugitive on the run from government soldiers.
Skye is given a cryptic message by her yoga instructor to find Dawn and avoid Duske. In actuality Glenda is an Eclipser sent to pull Skye back with her to Terra. With each dream Skye's own memories blur and Terra becomes more real. There people know her as Mariah Quinn, a revolutionary leader of the Eclipsers, a group of rebel Indy's who hope to free the Dark Siders (irradiated mutants kept as slaves) from the oppressive Council she'd been born to govern. Only if Dawn Grey is to be believed she'd betrayed their cause on the very night of their uprising. Dawn had once been her lover but now he has nothing but contempt for her.
The government has developed the Moongazing program to give the people of Terra new hope. Or so they said. Those with enough money could "gaze into the moon" and visit Earth. It was a chance to escape the reality of a war torn Terra, to live above ground in a world free of radiation and to take on whatever role they chose to play. Some chose to visit regularly, others chose to relocate permanently.
Mariah had investigated the Gazing experience hoping to expose government crimes but once involved had become addicted to the Gazer's inhalant and had wanted nothing more than to stay on Earth forever. She had left the resistance at the most critical moment. But because Dawn had loved her, he had hidden her behavior from the Eclipsers and the Dark Siders who continued to worship her. To the Eclipsers Mariah is their savior, which is why they have forcibly pulled her (Skye) back from Earth. In spite of Skye's protests that she is not the person they seek, even her fingerprints match the missing leader's. Dawn believes the drugs have simply taken away her memories.
Senator Duske of the Council of Eight, the totalitarian government of Terra, has a different explanation. He accepts her identity of Skye Brown, Earthling computer geek and he is willing to send her back home if she will agree to talk up Earth at a Moongazing seminar. Who to believe? Duske, the wealthy politician who can give her back the only identity she's ever known, or Dawn, the courageous, caring neuro-Terran soldier who risks his life on a daily basis to put an end to the unspeakable atrocities perpetrated on his people - a meaningless existence or a just cause and the man she is rapidly coming to love? At what point does reality cease to matter?
The book is written in such a way that even the reader is unsure of her true identity until the last possible moment. And the truth is mind blowing! The SHOMI imprint is geared to attract a younger adult audience and this tale has done its job admirably. The gaming generation will love it. For the more mature reader never fear, there is enough romance, fantasy and suspense to keep anyone riveted. I found myself unable to put the book down until the very last word had been savored. Written in the first person the reader will follow Skye herself through layers of intrigue, twists and turns, moves and countermoves to the stunning conclusion. Kudos to Dorchester for this timely concept, and bravo to Ms. Mancusi for crafting a truly engrossing tale. I highly recommend this read.

customer 's review (Kim)
(Just okay.....)
(Timeless romances...)
(I enjoyed it.)
(Fantastic) I have read a couple of books from this author and found that her characters are flat and boring. The story lines tend to drag on and on without going anywhere, completely no punches. I would defintely skip this one. This was okay, though not for my keepers shelf. I liked the main characters, there was some pretty good humor, just not a lot of action. We all feel it when first in the throes of love and passion. We believe we can not go on living without our significant other sharing fully, completely in our lives, and we buy the package, the illusion of timeless love. Constance O'Day-Flannery captures the essence of the power of romance, the energy of romance, and the burning passion of romance that seems able to cross all barriers, even time itself. In this novel she threads the romance of the old west, with the wonder of present day Las Vegas. She brings together two hapless victims to a quirk of physics, causing her to be transported first to the old west version of Las Vegas, Nevada. When she and her new found lover stumble back into the future well.... all manner of things happen and as always she makes it entertaining as well as thought provoking. She includes great suspense and mystery, and causes the reader to press forward, wondering at every step of the way, paragraph by paragraph where she is going with this story, and HOW she will resolve it. She is truly the Queen of Time Travel Romance and one of my all time favorite authors. I recommend her most current works as well. I expect to see her name on the New York Times Best Seller List again, and again. Phil Hergett I enjoy time-travel romance and I enjoyed this book a lot, but I have some criticisms: WHERE is the editor/proofreader? Some of the story pertains to knowing how to pull on the cord of a parachute - not "chord". There were a few other bloopers, too, and I agree with another reviewer about the preachiness about the Indians and other politically correct issues. Also, we never got the rest of the story about what happened to Harmon or the mystery about what the US military was up to. I did enjoy the story of the relationship of Mairie and Jack very much, and will definitely read more by Constance O'Day Flannery. I think all of her books are fantastic. She's a great author. I particularly like her series of time travels. They're my favorites. I have all of her books and would like to know if she has anything new out soon. Keep up the good time travel novels-Constance! Anywhere You AreWhen a rugged, wild, but incredibly breathtaking man approaches Mairie Callahan, she is unprepared for the enticing tremors of passion she feels. But there is something unusual about this stranger. . .and something peculiar about what's happened to Mairie. For when she crazily agreed to go skydiving with her brother, she expected to land somewhere outside of as Vegas, but Jack Delaney, as this stronger introduces himself, tells her she has landed in a different place--and time. . . Jack Delaney has returned to his adoptive home among the Paiute Indians, hoping to regain the soul he'd lost fighting in the Civil war. He seeks solace and a new life in the vast expanse of the Nevada wilderness. Then one day something falls from the skies. It's woman--captivatingly beautiful--who says she's from another time. (It makes me wish I could go back and relive a past life!)
(Reflections in Time (Timeswept) by Elizabeth Crane)
(Time Travel at it's best!)
(Truly a great story!) I truly enjoyed this book. I hate to read. Once all my friends caught me reading this book and not putting it down they had to own it also. What a Man! Thanks Elizabeth for a great romance/time travel. This book touched me more than any historical or time travel romance I have ever read. When a practical modern day woman, Renata, undergoes hypnosis to cure her insomnia, she finds herself smack dab in the middle of a past life. In a body that is no longer her own, she must fumble along and uncover the mystery of why she keeps returning to this life and why things seem so wrong there. If she can fix that...she may be able to fix more than her insomnia. I yelled, laughed, cried, and seriously considered unergoing hypnosis so that I could go back in time and relive the heroine's past life for myself. I literally fell in love with Nathan, the romantic hero of the story and ached for the broken relationship that he and "Renata" must work through to find love. Description from the book back cover:
Entranced by a stranger ... When practical-minded, no-nonsense Renata O'Neal began to have trouble sleeping, she decided hypnotism was the obvious answer to her problem. But when the doctor put her under, and she found herself in another time and place, about to be married to a devastating stranger, Renata decided that either her therapist was losing his mind, or she was! Enraptured by a lover ... Unable to return to her own era, Renata found life a tangled web back in 1880's Louisiana. Her unforseen marriage to Nathan Blue was threatened by secrets she was only beginning to fathom, and her growing passion for her new husband was hampered by Victorian morals, which proclaimed a woman must perform her wifely duty, but never enjoy it. Despite the gulf between them, Renata vowed that nothing would keep her from loving the most deliciously alluring man she'd known in one hundred years!
One of the best books I've read...ever! A friend had given it to me- I didn't think I'd like it but was pleasantly surprised. It's also one of the only books I've kept since I've had it and have re-read it twice which I NEVER do as there are too many great books out there left to be read. I thought the story quite believable and totally entertaining - it would make a great movie, read it and enjoy! This book is truly a great read right from the start. The female in the story is very realistic. An 'every woman' who has everyday problems and is very easy to identify with. A very good time travel story that pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very last page. This book definitely gets my recommendations. Turning to hypnotism to cure her sleeping problems, Renata O'Neal finds herself transported back in time to 1880s Louisiana and married to a handsome stranger, but the Victorian morals of the time hamper her new marriage. (A Wonderful Time Travel)
(Hot enough to melt an Alaskan glacier.) I have to say, starting off, I was doubtful I would like this book. But once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down!!! Susan Plunkett grabs your attention with warm characters and never ending witt. Winifred McCanless and Ransom Hamiltion are two completely different people from different times, but somehow Winifred ends up in Ransom's wife's body after she gets struck by lightning and dies. Ransom's reactions to Winifred's claims of being from the future and shocking him are priceless. There love is tangible. I was routing for Winifred (aka Felicity) all the way. Ransom is a complete rogue, but trust me, you'll love him anyway!!!! I had never read this author before and I actually picked this one up when it first hit the shelves. This book was funny, passionate, had a air of danger and the ending made sense. The review before pretty much wrapped up the storyline. I just want to add that I have since bought a lot more of Susan Plunkett books but none of them come close to catching me from page 1 like this one. I have loaned this out to several people since then and they are always pleased. In fact when trying to introduce friends that do not neccesarily read Time Travel books, to the genre this is one of my favorites to let them sink their teeth into. Highly RecommendedWinifred McCanless is a brilliant research scientist, fiercely independent, and has a basketball scoring record that would put many Lakers to shame. Winifred also is as plain as a board fence, wears contact lenses thick enough to stretch her eyelids and the only abiding love she has ever known came from her dead brother.
Felicity Forsythe is beautiful, tender and has the mind of a six year old. All of her life she has known nothing but the most gentle love and affection.
Ransom Hamilton, handsome, powerful and lonely, dreams of a home, wife and an heir for his vast timber holdings and shipping company. He has waited to marry until he can give his new wife anything she desires. Unfortunately, he has waited too long. By proxy he has been duped into marriage with the witless Felicity while her step-sister, Cassandra, has wed another.
An electrical storm of momentous proportion streaks across the 1996 Los Angeles sky, hurling Winifred back one hundred years to Sitka, Alaska and into the drowned body of Felicity who foolishly fell off of the docked boat that brought her to Ransom.
When Winifred/Felicity regains consciousness she is stunned to discover she now owns the lush body of a goddess and is married to the most handsome man she has ever seen. Unfortunately, he is also an arrogant, male chauvinist whose touch drives her to the brink of heaven.
True love never runs smoothly and "Remember Love" is no exception. Mistrust, fear and greed endanger the fragile bonds that begin to grow between Winifred and Ransom. The frigid winter winds that sweep across the tundra carry not only betrayal and treachery, but seem to freeze time letting the lovers see clearing what is real and what was only imagined.
Susan Plunkett, one of Jove/Berkley's Time Passages premiereauthors, gives us an entertaining romp through 1866 guided by high spirited Winifred as she leads a bewildered Ransom on a passionate chase until he catches her. Susan's love scenes are rich and sensuous. Her characters are well defined and the plot is exciting and full of wondrous discoveries. Ms. Plunkett has all of the promise of becoming one of the superstars of romance.
Kathee S. Car An unusually violent bolt of lightening transports the soul of scientist Winnifred McCanless to Alaska in the year 1866, where she is surprised to discover that she is married to a maddeningly arrogant but irresistibly seductive man. Imagine dying and being born again in a different time and place--1866 Alaska--and in a different body. Where you were once tall and unattractive, you are now petite, beautiful with a gorgeous body. There are a few negative catches: you were a scientist in your previous life, now you have a simple mind. And then, too, there is that new, handsome husband to contend with. Join Felicity Forsythe and Ransom Hamilton as they learn to deal with the impossible and fall in love. This is a time-travel story filled to the brim with surprise, promise and everlasting love. It is a pleasurable, page-turning read by a talented author whom I look forward to reading again.Remember Loveis a Time Passages Romance, a monthly time-travel series recently introduced by Jove.
