Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Enchanting!) 『1999 and 1878 Wyoming
YESTERDAY AND FOREVER is warm and delightful time travel tale!
Very enjoyable! 』
(A good read) 『Being a Native American holy place is the only reason the National Park Service has not been able to actually shut down the Medicine Wheel on the crest of Wyoming's Medicine Mountain. Still, people have mysteriously disappeared at the site even though only remnants remain of the centuries old structure. A few tourists, including Bailey Cooper, visit the site.
A strange occurrence happens and soon Bailey finds herself wrapped in a thick fog. Zach Gooden locates an unconscious
Bailey on his ranch. He takes her back to his home where she awakens with three little girls staring at her. Stunned to learn that she has traveled back over a century in time, Bailey begins to fall in love with her rescuer and his three sisters. While Zach struggles with an unknown assailant coveting his land, he too falls in love. Though Bailey wants to stay with Zach and the three hellions, she believes her time is in the future even if her heart remains in 1878.
YESTERDAY AND FOREVER is a pleasant novel that uses Indian mysticism as a chronological device to add time travel elements to a warm western romance. The characters are fun, though Bailey adjusts to the amenities of nineteenth century ranch life too easily. The three sisters live up to their names of Hope, Faith, and Charity even as their jocular actions provide sparks to the tale. By Jove, Vickie Presley scribes a pleasurable, entertaining book that Americana fans will relish.

I couldn't wait until this book came out, especially since I knew it was set in New Mexico, one of my favorite places. The book did not disappoint. The historical aspects are very interesting and the modern part of the story held my interest because of the characters and the setting. The twists LaRoque throws in are fresh. The plot is fast-paced and keeps the reader wanting to turn the pages to find out what happens next. I'd recommend this to readers who love time travels and stories involving Native Americans.』
(Great historical fiction!) 『 I just finished reading Flames on the Sky and thoroughly enjoyed it! Your descriptions were vivid and the history was fascinating. I feel the Anasazi people would look on your rendition of their history with favor. As an added benefit, your sexual scenes were hot and done with good taste. The story line held my attention and I wanted more. 』
(LaRoque is Great Again) 『FLAMES IN THE SKY by LINDA LAROQUE
As legend has it, over 1000 years ago in the time of the Chacon Anasazi Indians, a perfect turquoise stone existed, holding special powers. The stone fell into the hands of evil, and because of this, the gods struck the evil holder of the stone, Nukpana, with lightning, breaking off two small pieces of the stone, now referred to as "the twins." Nukpana never received a proper burial; his body burned, and the ashes stored and sealed in a clay bottle, trapping his evil essence but never allowing him closure.
Current time: An innocent Rita Santiago accidentally damages Nukpana's containment bottle, releasing his essence. He is now free, ready to take revenge on the Anasazi people and wipe out any sign they ever existed.
Madison Evans, a fiery red head, substitute violinist in the Houston Symphony with a PhD in art, finds herself on a quest to learn more about her ancestry and the history of the special turquoise locket left to her after her mother's death.
Since acquiring the locket, Madison has been having dreams, almost nightmarish, and they always include a certain warrior and witch woman. What could these dreams mean? Are they trying to tell her something?
Madison's journey lands her at the Chaco Canyon in New Mexico where she meets the handsome Lonan Stone; a native, National Park Ranger with important ties to more than one of the local tribes.
After several terrifying mishaps, they soon discover that someone is desperately wants Madison's locket--but why? Could it be the ancient prophets were right? Are Madison and Lonan truly the chosen ones to reunite the twins with the mother stone and lock Nukpana away once and for all? If so, how can they accomplish this seemingly impossible feat? According to the prophecy, the expectations are high, the sacrifices even greater.
Linda LaRoque does it again! Her true talent as an author shines brilliantly in this mystical adventure of time travel, Native American heritage, urban legend, and love. In addition, Ms. LaRoque's gift for setting a scene is so well done and precise that you can close your eyes and actually see the vivid colors of this beautiful area, smell and feel the air around you, and hear the faint whispers from times past on the light breeze surrounding you. She has you believing in her characters and wanting to believe the legend, the whole story, is true. I highly recommend this book.
Flames in the Sky will light a flame in you...all the way to the last word.
5 Shoes!! 』
(Interesting story) 『This book is well-written. I read a lot of time travel books, and I liked this one. The plot was quite good and the characters interesting.』
(A Little Disappointing) 『Flames on the Sky is the second book in the Turquoise Legacy, but it can be read as a stand alone.
For the past six months, Madison has been having the same continuous dream involving people and events from a previous time. At that same time, she inherited a necklace with a turquoise pendent and a journal documenting the pendent and its powers over centuries. She can only conclude that her strange dreams and the necklace are related in some manner.
On a whim, she travels to Mesa Verde where the stone originated to get some answers. Once there she takes it to a jeweler who says he thinks the stone originated around 1000AD. Stunned, Madison leaves to regroup in her hotel. After dinner, she gets back to her hotel and it has been ransacked. The police and the local park ranger shows up , Lanon Stone and he immediately feels a connection with her.
The next day, while on a hike, Madison rubs her necklace and poof, she is in the same spot, but she realizes she is not in the same time period. In this new time, she is seeing people from her dreams. Shortly later, she rubs her necklace and is back in present day. The time travel did not shock her completely, already being outlined in the journal. She shares all of this with Lonan, who was sick with worry over where she had gone. Lonan takes her to his grandmother's house, a known spirit talker and she tells the both of a prophecy that will change their lives forever.
Flames On The Sky was a bit disappointing for me. First, I felt Madison was a cookie cutter heroine. Too smart and way too accepting of all the events going on around her. She gets told her necklace is made in 1000AD and although surprised she just continues on her way. Then she time travels, and although her journal had described this as one of its powers, she travels back to present day and doesn't flip out. At one point after the time travel she even says she is just an average girl. I don't understand how she can feel that way after she performs something supernatural and has a continuous dream every night.
I also had a problem with the internal dialogue of both Madison and Lonan. Their thoughts and even some things they said didn't seem always natural. For example, after Madison goes missing during her hike (when she time travels) Lonan goes out to search for and shortly after he starts he thinks:
Lonan knew it was odd, but feared the chief would send him home if he voiced his honest opinion. He wasn't sure he even believed it himself. Time travel. He felt stupid just considering the possibility. But what else could have happened?
A lot of else could have happened!! Madison is out alone in the wilderness. The tour guide saw her fall and now she is missing, but that doesn't naturally mean she time traveled. I had a hard time wondering if superstition was prevalent in this world, or if supernatural things happen, so maybe time travel would not be that out of the question. I know the Native American culture has a lot of lore and superstition. Maybe a better understanding of the rules of this world would have helped me cope with some of Madison and Lonan's actions.
The actual plot was interesting, with a lot of legend about the Native American culture. The villain was a pretty bad dude which I always enjoy and I have to say, Lonan was pretty hot in bed and the romance scenes were done well. However, my issues with the characters did not allow me to enjoy this book as much as I could have.』 『The Anasazi whispered of his evil and of the woman who could defeat it. Fire, sky, and stone must unite to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Madison Evans inherits a turquoise locket, travels to New Mexico, and discovers the stone dates back to the Chacoan Anasazi. When she's attacked, parks ranger Lonan Stone, of Chacoan ancestry, fears Madison's turquoise is a missing twin of the revered Fallen Skystone, an egg size piece of turquoise on display in Albuquerque. The mystical stone is missing two slivers - one's in Madison's necklace, the others whereabouts unknown, but if united by evil they can destroy. Madison and Lonan are part of a 1000 year old prophecy to save Chaco Canyon. Thrust back in time, they meet a witch, solve a murder, fall in love, and imprison a 1000 year old evil spirit. Their mission complete, can these two people from different cultures blend their lives as the prophecy predicted?』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (absolutely beautiful) 『I read this book several years ago when I was in high school, back when I started reading romance novels. At that time, after reading a novel, I would just sell them to a used bookstore. However, today after I have enjoyed reading a novel, I actually keep them and believe that someday I will re-read them again. Thus, I regret that I sold this book several years ago when I was in high school.
After discovering and reading SSSSOOOO many historical romances, this is still one of the best that I have read out there. It's about a female fire fighter who goes back more than a hundred years ago and meets a fireman (all fire fighters were male back then) and about the huge San Francisco earthquake in 1906. This story is so romantic and beautiful. I really wish I still had it because it's so hard to find. But it's worth the find and if you do find it don't let it go because then it'll be even more hard to find it!!!!』
(The best so far!) 『This is the best novel I've read so far from this talented author. Time travel stories are tricky to handle, but Ms. Hallam does it as well as any writer I've found. You have to read carefully, though, because she sprinkles little details throughout her books that turn out to be very important later on. It takes a really skilled writer to do this. I love her work and love this story of old San Francisco. It may be difficult to find (it was for me!), but it's worth the search.』

Buy it now.』 『When firefighter Annabel Lowell's duties catapult her from San Francisco 2000 back to 1906, she faces one of the worst earthquakes in history. Susan was thrust back in time when she picked up the ancient Celtic Torch. Standing before her was one of the sexiest men she'd ever seen, Govan. She estimated the year around 61AD. It wasn't long before Govan claimed Susan for his. They needed each other. Can a contemporary woman survive with a Druid?
Steam rolls off this book. Govan is strong, demanding, and expects to be listened to. Susan isn't used to giving into anyone. I've always enjoyed time travel romance. Celtic Bonds is a great read.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Excellent Time Travel) 『I just finished this book, the 2nd time travel I've read, and I thought it was excellent. It was a real page turner. For the most part, it didn't have a lot of funny scenes (except when it finally dawns on Nadine that she isn't in Kansas anymore, just after deciding that everyone was not in on some kind of a joke involving her), but the last line in the book was hysterical! It ended on such a happy note. I really liked Faulk, and I realized fairly early on that he truly loved Nadine, though he denied it through to nearly the end. The book was more of a reincarnation book than a time travel, I thought. If it had been more of a time travel, it would have been interesting to see the medeval Nadine in our modern times. I hope to read Sandra Landry's other book, The Wishing Chalice, soon.』
(A New Spin on Time Travel) 『Modern day Nadine du Monte reluctantly leaves her family in Rouen, France to study in London. Prior to leaving, Nadine and a friend decide to visit a gypsy--who prophesizes that 'death is only a transitional time' which initiates a vision in which Nadine sees herself--or at least a woman who LOOKS like her and shares the same name 800 years in the past. Unnerved by the experience, Nadine seeks comfort from her beloved mother before she leaves for London. Upon her arrival, however, Nadine learns that both parents perished in an auto accident that day. Unable to get a late flight, Nadine faces her crippling fear of water and boards a ferry across the English Channel. Once again, Nadine is overcome with a vision of the medieval Nadine and falls overboard. Lord Faulk of Whitecastle, loyal knight of Richard II, had long delayed acting on his promise to his father to return from the battlefield, take a wife and sire an heir. Upon his father's death, Faulk guiltily returned to Whitecastle intending to immediately carry out his duty. Only when he found the waterlogged body of Nadine du Monte lying upon the beach near his home did he recall the witch's prophesy: a golden vision with the mark of the rose would come from the water and would be the only woman who could bear his children. Cared for by Faulk's beloved retainer, Nadine recovers and finds herself, unbelievably, in the 13th century. Reluctant to accept her circumstances, plagued with the grief from her parents' deaths and trying to understand the flashes of "memories" she experiences of her apparent previous life in medieval England, Nadine must temporarily rely on Faulk's largesse. She refuses, however, his offers of marriage, but does find herself powerfully attracted to the honorable man who believes she is the woman of a prophesy. To complicate Nadine's identity crisis even further, a man claiming to be her betrothed arrives at Whitecastle and demands she return to Rouen with him immediately. Nadine's memories of her medieval life return in bits and pieces and she cannot recall her bethrothed. She decides to return to Rouen to learn more about herself, but the man she has come to love and the man who claims to be her betrothed constantly posture and fight. Upon her arrival in Rouen, Nadine learns of her medieval life and is inundated with the memories of her former life and, conversely, her memories from her modern life become vague and distant. Faulk knows Nadine is the woman of the prophesy and must find a way to make her his. He cannot, however, offer her his love because of the betrayal he suffered from his first wife. Nadine loves Faulk and realizes that she could live happily in medieval England with him--if she could believe that he wanted her for more than just her ability to bear his children and fulfill his promise to his dead father. But the prophesy must be satisfied or Nadine will be returned to the future--and only Faulk's love will hold her in his time.
An original combination of time travel, reincarnation and prophesy. A great debut from Sandra Landry.』

"A Man Beyond Time" is a work of hard science fiction as Dr. Philips, in hoping to work to make to make Astral Projection a scientific reality for espionage purposes, ends up breaking the time stream and creating his own time machine. Written for fans of speculative science talk, "A Man Beyond Time" is a fine read that'll give many readers something to think of.』
(Promising new author) 『I am a voracious reader; A friend gave me a copy of this book, A Man Beyond Time; it is outstanding. I picked it up last night and am nearly finished with it. Great story; the writing style is tight with few wasted words. The pace is consistent. Norville build tension and suspense like a master writer. I would like to read more fiction written by this promising new author and will be on the look-out via Amazon.』
(Read this book) 『I really enjoyed this book. I found the scientific content interesting and entertaining. Hearing about a new concept that seems both possible and intriguing was very satisfying. The suspense filled pace of this book moved quickly with many entertaining plot twists. The characters Mr. Norville created were probably what I liked the most about this book. They were engaging and kept you involved. I encourage not only people interested in science to read this but anyone who loves a good mystery and love story that also stimulates the intellect.』
(Norville Scores Again!) 『Rod Norville's second novel is a fabulous work comparable to the very best science fiction being published today. Norville, like sci-fi great Isaac Asimov, is a learned man with a wide range of science knowledge. Norville uses his knowledge to creat a true winner of a sci-fi novel. A MAN BEYOND TIME tells the tale of Greg Philips, a pioneer in the science of time travel. Philips dances back and forth across time barriers, initially to correct a mistake of his youth that haunts him as an adult. Complications arise when a sinister villian from the future begins to stalk him. The story includes elements of suspense and romance. He falls in love with a woman he admired as a teen, and the villian inflicts horrors upon Philips' family which Philips must then avenge.
The book is a quick read dealing with complex issues. In addition to his scientific knowledge, Norville's carefull historical research of the Riverside commonuity in 1950s and 1960s Southern California literally made this sci-fi work as thoroughly grounded in the past as it soared into the future. Norville knows his material. He knows how to write. I cannot recall reading a finer work of science fiction in a decade. I recommend Rod Norville's A MAN BEYOND TIME highly and without any reservations.』
(A quick paced easy read, with an engaging story line) 『In "A Man Beyond Time", Rod Norville has gracefully combined a highly technical subject with an action packed story line to create a thoroughly enjoyable quick read. The science is adequately described and easy to follow, but doesn't overwhelm the great plot. The pace is almost non-stop, with enough twists and turns for a taffy factory.
The hero is a very likable scientist, whose discovery can change the world. When he becomes the hunted, his intelligence and creativity sends us on a whirlwind chase over 8 decades.
Highly recommended for anyone who likes classic science fiction, or just an entertaining novel.』 『
Taking place across the boundaries of time, this riveting, romantic adventure asserts the plausibility of time travel through scientific fact as Dr. Greg Philips travels down a twisting road to right a terrible wrong from his past. After being engaged by the U.S. government to scientifically validate out-of-body remote-viewing espionage, Dr. Philips accidentally creates a mini black hole, which he then turns into a time-travel vehicle. Explaining in full detail the operation and design of the transmission electron microscope used to make the black hole as well as introducing the science of holographic theory, astral projection, and Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, this entertaining and informative read is perfect for any student of science as well as for lovers of science fiction, romance, and suspense.

(A Fantastic New Twist on Time Travel Romances!) 『I don't usually take the time to write a review on Amazon as I am just too busy. I had to make an exception for this marvelous new book! Sandra Bojtos Hart has a flair for time travel romances that absolutely astounded me! I have to say that 99% of my reading for pleasure is time travel romances ~ I love them! Some of them are just good, some are really great. "Somewhere Out There" was fantastic! Don't miss this one! When you get to the end, you'll go back to the first page and read it again ~ I know, because that's exactly what I did. I can't wait for the sequel!』
(What a disappointment!) 『The problem with self-published writing is that it often doesn't go through a rigorous editing process: such is the case with this novel. I was really looking forward to reading the story, but I couldn't even get through the first ten pages. It's the most poorly written book I've ever come across. The author deserves credit for going through the excruciating process of committing her story to paper (which is the only reason I gave this effort two stars), but she needs some SERIOUS editing help. This book is an insult to intelligent readers.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (5 stars! Wonderful Writing and Great Characters!) 『This book contains 4 modern Christian Romances that take place in Michigan. Each story is about 110-120 pages in length. While this book does have Christian undertones and morals, it is not a preachy sermon type of book. All four stories are uplifting, captivating, and romantic. I enjoyed all four and was drawn in my the characters and their issues with faith and relationships with God and other people in their lives. What I love most about these stories is that they aren't perfect, the characters aren't perfect (far from it). I like that they are realistic and bungle things up, because that's what I do sometimes and it is comforting to know that even when you do that God is there to help you and that it isn't the end of the world.
Here is a taste of each story:
1. Out on a Limb: Karen is at her grandfather's house for the summer to help him with his produce stand and keep him company since her grandmother just recently passed away. Across at a neighboring farm Eric is spending the summer with his grandparents while he is preparing to open a new business. Both grandfathers are in a long-standing feud with each other and Karen and Eric can't figure out why. When Karen and Eric start to feel God pulling their lives in a certain direction they decide to put an end to the family feud. But how can they do that when their grandfathers are acting like stubborn children and pulling ridiculous pranks on each other?
2. Mark and Lana seemed to run into mishaps where ever they go, whether it is Lana accidentally feeding Mark peanuts when he is allergic, Lana falling off a canoe into a lake, or both of them catching some serious poison ivy disaster seems to be near by. Mark id the new youth director at Lana's church and even though she admits that she has a lot of flaws in her spiritual make up Mark consistently begs her to help out with the youth activities. What Lana learns during these events helps her improve on those spiritual flaws and helps her to have a closer relationship with God.
3. Both Sally and Brad have lost their spouses and are attending a grief group held at a local church. When they meet each other they felt a special bond and shared all their feelings and dreams with each other. Pretty soon they are in a much healthier place and they could move on in their lives. Sally enjoys spending time with Brad and his children but there are some obstacles in the way. Such as Brad's daughter, Kelly, who takes an instant dislike to Sally and Sally's family telling her it is too soon for her to be seeing anyone and that she should be cautious.
4. Laine and Jeff are neighbors and when Laine has trouble in her life such as a death in the family or a break-in in her condo, Jeff is always there to help. But when mysterious things keep occurring at Laine's home and it seems that someone is after something she has, Laine can't decide if she can trust Jeff anymore because it seems he has something to hide.
Heart-warming. This describes these four novellas perfectly. All four stories displayed love beautifully and inspired me to strengthen my relationship with God and those I love.

(DISAPPOINTED IN 'MICHIGAN') 『I was disappointed in this book as a whole. The storylines were fine; however, the lead male characters in the first three stories were whimpy and weak. The lead females were whiney. The fourth story 'Secrets Within' was much better. The characters were strong. Even though Laine had problems in her life and things in her past with which she had to deal, she didn't whine. Jeff was self confident. The storyline was intriguing and suspenseful. This particular title 'Secrets Within' is definitely one to read again. 』 『Four couples come together in diverse Michigan locations, but they each have to answer the same question: Will they allow God to lead in their love lives?
