(whimsical time travel romance) 『In Wyoming, almost forty year old Shelby McCoy expects to never find her true love but refuses to settle for less. She drives to the dude ranch owned by her sister Caitlin and her husband Michael Ketchum. Her companion is her Pomeranian Jorge when her car breaks down near the ranch. Shelby and Jorge walk towards the Flying Eagle.
However, something odd occurs as she sees a man on a horse and a woman with a teen in a horse drawn carriage. Rose St. Cloud seems kind so Shelby mentions her vehicle broke down, but when she looks around the paved road is gone and her car is nowhere in sight. Rose's two sons who are with her, silent horse whisperer Ruckert and thirteen year old Wyle, think she is a bit crazy, but Rose shows her the letter from her grandma's grandma Nana Marie Tinkler saying she is coming as their cook. Shelby soon learns somehow she is in 1886 near Laramie and meets the third son Holden, but finds herself ironically in love with Ruckert who feels the same way though his stuttering interferes with his telling her.
This is a whimsical time travel romance starring a woman who refuses to settle for anything less than love. With a great stunning final twist, the story line is fun to follow as Shelby is a realistic lead character refusing to accept she has gone back in time over a century to find love. Although how she did it is only partially explained, fans will enjoy her falling in love with a terrific horse whisperer who can communicate with wild stallions but stutters amongst humans.
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (GREAT BOOK!!) 『Love the book, from the beginning to the end, the book grabed me in the first chapter and I could not put it down.』
(I really liked this book) 『Really enjoyed this timeswept storyline. It was not the most captivating book I have read but I still think it is a five star book.』
(One of the few paperback romances on my keeper shelf.) 『I was amazed to read several reviews, including one here, that loved the beginning and hated the middle of this book. It is the middle that made this a book that I kept and read again and again. There would be no book if Ms Dier had stayed in the present. Gavin's problem could only be solved in the past. An easy and happy solution to Gavin's problems in the past would have made this another average romance novel. (Based on the set in the present beginning, I am sure I would have loved the book, but it still would have been an everyday average read.) The exploration of Julia's decision to fight to save Gavin, from the dangers around him and himself, and Gavin's internal battle to trust Julia and overcome the bitter man he was at the time of his original death are what make this a extraordinary novel.
By the way the original plot twist at the end gives a new meaning to happy ever after.』
(Captivating historical adventure) 『I had so much fun reading this book! It is one of the best romance books I've ever read. Debra Dier is a master at her craft, having created an intelligent historic romance rich with adventure, intrigue, mystery, and sensuality. This is an evocative original-a must read.』
(Best ever book I have read) 『What a wonderful story this is. When you think these two wonderfull people have no chance of happiness a miracle occurs.
Gavin is a tortured soul looking for his one true love to perform a miracle, and give each other another chance to live and love again in another lifetime.
The scene where Gavin's ghost comes for Julia to take her back to her time was one of the most poinient I have ever read. I was in tears while Julia was holding the body of her dead lover and talking to his ghost.
Debra please write a sequel to this book. You have plenty of scope to do so. There's Patrick's and Brandon's stories you could write. I want to read about Gavin and Julia's lives for ever and ever. Thank you Debra for giving me the best ever book to read. This one I will treasure for the rest of my days.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Lady Robyn) 『This was a well written 2nd book to a 3 book series. Robyn is a satisfying character with depth and the plot leaves you wanting more. It is necessary to have the 3rd book waiting on your TBR pile, so immediate consumption is possible. Nicely done Mr.Robertson... Nicely done indeed.』
(Medieval muddle) 『As a time-travel romance, this is great fun. Historically, it's pretty good. But if I was in Robyn's situation, I'm not at all sure I could be strong enough NOT to check on my medieval boyfriend's future...』
(Didn't work) 『I won't go into the plot or story line! I picked this up at the library and was dismayed to see that it was part 2 of a trilogy. I don't usually like to start in the middle but figured what the heck.
I won't bother reading the rest of them.
His use of witchcraft as a device for the unity of women was interesting if not ignorant of knowledge of the time, and or course of witchcraft itself. The book is poorly researched in this area and it shows.
Had Robyn truly been transported into the middle ages she would never have evaded execution. Her open use of 20th century technology would have seen her burnt at the stake at first opportunity. People dealt with the unknown by through superstition. Her wristwatch, and even her coffee were enough to send her to her death, and unlike the book she would have found most people recoiling in fear from her.
This book didn't work for me. High humor, maybe, but when I read I like to be carried away by plausibility...to imagine that it just MIGHT could happen. All I found here were instance after instance to execute Robyn.
If you're interested in a plausible time travel book read the series by DIANA GABALDON, not only plausible but outstanding. In this genre she's the hands down champ.』
(engaging time travel romance) 『For someone born in mellow California in the twentieth century, Lady Robyn of Pontefract has reasonably adapted to living in the fifteenth century. She blames no one but herself for her present displacement as her white witch dabbling transported her to 1461 and the War of the Roses. To avoid blunders, she uses her palm pilot to help her keep score between the Lancasters and the Yorks though often she errs on whose side someone belongs.
Robyn has become engaged to Prince Edward, but problems exist for the duo. His family believes she is beneath him and wants their relationship to end. Meanwhile, aristocratic men want her killed as a witch, jailed for betting on the wrong side, or seek sex with her. Though a kind nurturing soul to all she meets, the noble female spouses want her dead. With reality intruding on history classes and romantic images, Robyn feels happy about her life, but would not mind returning to fast food California.
This is an engaging time travel romance that is clearly for fans of the series. New readers will feel more displaced than Robyn did when she first appeared in 1461. Robyn is a pragmatic and delightful lead protagonist and the rest of the ensemble either provides insight into her or the chaotic era. Fans of R. Garcia Y Robertson will enjoy the latest entry, as it is a fun tale.
Harriet Klausner』
『The author of The Spiral Dance and American Woman, R. Garcia y Robertson returns with a charming time-travel romance. In Knight Errant, Robyn Stafford, a young Ameri-can woman hiking in England near the Welsh border, was swept back in time to the 1460s, the age of the War of the Roses. There, she fell in love with a young knight, Prince Edward. Now in Lady Robyn, Robyn's fantasy of courtly romance comes up against the politics of murder, warfare, and betrayal. Edward's father Richard, the Duke of York, is making a bid for the throne. If he succeeds, Edward will be heir apparent. And if Robyn marries him, she will someday be queen and her children heirs to the throne as well. In the 1460s that means living with the constant threat of death. The survival rate for heirs is not high. Will Robyn reject her love or risk the lives of her children to be? Will she even live to make the decision?』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Very enjoyable read) 『I thoroughly enjoyed this story. A very unusal premise in that it is a time-travel agent who is a wizard from the 19th. century, takes you to where you want to go in his shop "Any time, any place". And it only costs $1,000,000 to find your hearts desire.
I sorry to see this story end, knowing there are no more of these stories by Kay. Why that is, I dont know, I just wish there were more in this series.
It would be great to read about these characters in a future story, just to catch up with them again. That would be fantastic. 』
(Fun and Different) 『I really liked that the female lead was the dominant partner in the relationship...if you like time travel, this is a good choice. The premise is that an untalented wizard has figured out a way to travel through time using Merlin's stone. For a mere one million dollars a person, you can travel through time to find your heart's desire...an eccentric billionare and his personal assistant travel to the medievil time period to find an enchanted amulet and each find their true love』
(A page-turner -- Very Highly Recommended) 『Victoria Desmond is a thoroughly modern and independent woman, levelheaded when it comes to most facets of her life. At work, she is a focused professional and determined taskmaster-the perfect foil to a billionaire boss with a refined obsession for all things medieval. At home, Victoria plays caretaker to her aunt and mother-a woman deserted by Victoria's father when Victoria was nine-unable to cope with the responsibilities of single motherhood as well as her daughter was able to deal with raising herself.
No one could ever guess Victoria harbors romantic fantasies of being rescued by a dashing knight in shining armor and on a white horse, and she would never admit it to anyone-especially not her boss, H. Walter or her critical but totally dependent and man-hungry aunt Crystal. Walter would no doubt rub it in and Crystal would only harp on her niece's lack of the looks and style that could attract the sort of man of which she daydreams. Thus, Victoria is intelligent and grounded enough to enjoy the fantasy for what it is-a dream that can never be realized.
But then again, being the efficient personal assistant of a medieval addict with his head in the clouds and hopes of renovating a recently purchased ancient English castle may have its perks after all.
H. Walter Harrington IV is a successful tycoon, who splurges almost as much money indulging his favorite pastime sponsoring an annual Medieval Fair, as he donates to charity. He's a stubborn man, used to getting his way and the only person who's ever said "no" to him is Victoria...that is until Walter asks her to cancel all his appointments for three weeks and accompany him on a trip to England.
Against her better judgment and every instinct that tells her Walter is wasting more time and money on the ruins that were once Castle Avondel, Victoria agrees to go.
It is a decision that she soon regrets, especially once she has the living daylights scared out of her when, through the magic of the Thistlewaite Travel Agency, its bizarre proprietor Tobias and Merlin's stone, she and Walter are whisked through time and space to 13th Century England.
Walter is on a mission to secure Aethelwyn's amulet, and thereby restore the ruined Avondel to its former glory. Simple and as a matter-of-fact as taking a trip to Disney World for H. Walter. More complicated and nerve-racking than juggling Walter and Crystal's business and social schedules put together for Victoria.
Capable and independent in her own place and time; Victoria is suddenly afraid and at a loss thrust in 1274. She's more importantly upset that Walter has taken her wishes for granted, usurped her belief in good old fashioned logic only to replace it with his talk of magic, time travel, wizards and finally meeting the lord and lady of Avondel.
Unfortunately, Walter and Victoria have landed at Avondel ten years after the siege of the castle has occurred. And when Walter is soon abducted by neighboring landowner, Sir Ranulf of Darkvale, the intrigue and danger really begins.
Alone in the Age of Chivalry where women are worshipped but nonetheless still considered property and the weaker sex, Victoria has to figure out how to rescue Walter. Armed with walking-around gold from Walter, a Swiss Army knife and a veritable 20th Century medicine cabinet in her purse sets off to do just this. Now if she could only be sure she had that Snickers packed at the bottom of her purse.
Enter Sir Perceval (aka Sir Gareth) a dingy drunken knight in dented rusty armor. Not exactly Victoria's dream come true, but she decides he'll do in a pinch.
Sworn to avenge the slaughter of his parents, the enslavement of his young sister, the destruction of his childhood home, and reclaim his birthright Sir Gareth of Avondel is on a mission of his own. He will stop at nothing to see it through-from entering a jousting match in disguise and an assumed identity right under the nose of his sworn enemy, or lying to the bold and strange woman who challenges his very intellect and titillates his desires.
Kay has a wonderful feeling of place and setting and writes with authority and a wry sense of humor clearly exhibited in her portrayals of Victoria's resourceful damsel not-so-in-distress and Gareth's chauvinist with a conscience and soft heart for his lady. Kay has created a hero and heroine with unmistakable chemistry, leading an engaging cast of sub-plot characters and the driving force behind a multi-leveled love story.
A well-written and entertaining page-turner complete with legendary curses, familial betrayal and strife, high-adventure, intrigue, murder, revenge, secrets, and of course the prerequisite happily ever after, To Charm A Knight charmed this reader and is very highly recommended.』
(An enjoyable book) 『I liked this book. It was a cute story, and easy read and made me feel good after I'd read it. Its a time travel romance. The heroine, Victoria, and her super rich employer are transported back in time to 13th century England. Her employer has bought a castle in modern times that is falling apart but no matter what they do it can't be fixed. He decides that if he can find an amulet which is said to have been taken from the castle all will be well. He finds a travel agancy that specializes in time travel and away they go.
When they get there they are confronted with several things. Victorias boss is taken hostage and she has to find the amulet to free him. She gets some help from a shaggy unclean knight named Percy. Now Percy is really the rightful heir to the castle and wants the stone to right old wrongs and recalim his inheritance. He doesn't want anyone to know who he is so he pretends to be a unkept knight. He offers his services to Victoria and soon finds he is very strongly attracted to her. She is likewise attracted to him but not just time stands in their way of happiness. This is a funny book that was very easy to read. I plan to read others from this author.』
(Wild, witty romp of a time travel!) 『Victoria Desmond's eccentric employer, billionaire Walter Harrington, is a medieval-era fanatic and owner of a crumbling castle. Unfortunately for Victoria, when Walter's wildest dream magically comes true, and he's transported through time to 13th Century England, Victoria is unwillingly dragged with him. Though Victoria has no idea how to survive in the Middle Ages, she is forced to save not only herself but clueless Walter from an evil knight. In spite of her best efforts the outlook is very grim for her and her boss, until Gareth of Avondel arrives on the scene and helps them out.
If you like medieval times and the sharp immediacy that time travel provides, this adventure will really get your blood racing. Gareth is sexy, intelligent and determined to have lovely, feisty Victoria for his own. And Victoria is a strong woman who refuses to whine as she accepts that she's going to have to hustle like mad to survive. I love the way the light tone of the story invites you to laugh, but not at the expense of a very pleasing hero and heroine. Instead, the humor comes from the contrast of the comic extremes of a hero and heroine who couldn't be more unalike. Their mutually weird ways constantly startle each other and lead to many hearty chuckles. They are also very hot lovers, always welcome in any romance!
In short, if you like laughter, exotic adventure and hot sex, you'll love this book!』

Everything was flat. Nothing was believable. Maybe if you are interested check it out in ebook but not print, way too pricey.』
(Good read) 『I rated this 4*-. A little better than average. I enjoyed the book, especially the points of history. The reference to the Philadelphia Experiment in 1943 led me to pursue information about this historical event (which I learned there is a great deal of controversy). Enjoyable read but cost more than your average paperback.』 『The story begins in the year 1889 where lovely Andrea Marsh lives on a plantation with her father in Savannah, Georgia. A stormy night sends Andrea on a whirlwind ride over 100 years into the future. Andrea's trip to the future sends her on a journey to a world full of fascination and wonder. What she finds there exceeds even her wildest dreams. I love stories with time travel in them. I had previously read some sci-fi stories which combined romance and time travel, and had really enjoyed those. When I heard about the Timetwist Series, which is a series that combines time travel and romance, I decided to buy all the books from the series which I could find. I read Ms. Rosemoor's book first.
Despite the fact that I generally do not like books that take place in the Old West, The Desperado still managed to pull me in from the first page, and hold my attention until the end. I read the book in just two sittings, and I am not a fast reader.
I instantly liked the character Willow. She is the heroine of the story. The main female character in romances is always referred to as the heroine, even if she is weak and unheroic. Willow is a heroine in the truest sense of the word. She knows how to fend for herself, and can save the day without the aid of a male. I love stories where females can kick major butt, and this is one of them.
Another thing that made this book so good were the intricate details that the author included throughout the book about the characters and the settings. Some of these details are so small that you might not even notice them, but if you do notice them, you will find that the author gives them a very nice payoff by the end. I do not want to mention specifics, since it will give too much of the plot away, but it is little details such as these that makes the reader realize how much thought Ms. Rosemoor put in to this book before she wrote it.
I have read romance novels which seem like they were written in a few days, and have recycled their plots from other books. Not surprisingly, those books lack depth and originality. The Desperado is not like that. It works on more than one level, because of the intricate details, but also because of the depth of its characters. In most romance novels, the hero and the heroine are the only 3-dimensional characters, and the other characters in the book are stereotypes and/or flat. It also seems as if you are not supposed to care that much about the secondary characters, and should be focusing your attention on the plight of the hero and heroine. With this book, that is not so. I found myself caring about some of the secondary characters, and wanting to know more about them. For example, Willow's sister Tansy.
Tansy is the character who kick starts the plot. She runs away from home, and travels back in time to the Old West. She goes to the Old West since she is obsessed with a bounty hunter named Wolf Madrid who lived back then. Willow follows her to the past, since she is worried about the girl's welfare, and also because she wants to bring her back to the future. Tansy and Wolf are both well developed throughout the book, though not as much as Willow and the hero Ryder. By the end, I was itching to know more about Tansy and Wolf. They are interesting, original characters, who deserve a story of their own. So, if you are reading this Ms. Rosemoor, please write a sequel about them! I bet I'm not the only reader who is dying to know more about those characters.
Ms. Rosemoor also does an amazing job with describing her settings. She must have done a lot of research for this book. It almost seems as if she herself traveled back in time to New Mexico during the 1880's, and is telling the reader about what she saw there. Her vast knowledge of New Mexico's culture, in both the past and present, makes a plot which could never happen in real life seem believable.
The reason why I give this book 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 is because there were certain things about the Ryder-Willow relationship that I did not like, especially how it ended. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that I did not like Ryder, and thought he was unworthy of Willow's love. Ryder did not win me over like a romance hero is supposed to. The romance reader is supposed to admire the heroine, and is supposed to desire the hero, or at least understand why the heroine desires the hero. Ryder looks like a young Robert Redford (which makes him sound attractive, at least to me) and he tries his best to protect Willow from danger (even though in most cases she is fully capable of protecting herself), but besides that, I felt as if he didn't have much to offer her. We learn a lot about his past, and we get an idea of what kind of man he is, but besides that, his personality kind of falls flat. I felt as if Wolf Madrid was a far more interesting male character than Ryder was, which is why I will stress again, that Ms. Rosemoor should really write a book about him and Tansy!
Another reason why I would like to see a sequel, is because I became quite attached to the characters, and was sad to see the book end. I also have not found another romance book as good as this one. Out of the Timetwist books I have read so far, it is the best. I feel that if Ms. Rosemoor wrote a sequel, it could be just as good, or maybe even better! Especially since Wolf is a much more intriguing character than Ryder was, and would make a great hero.
So, if you are looking for an action-packed romantic fantasy, which you can get totally wrapped up in, read this book!』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Great Read) 『I enjoyed this book. I love time travel romance novels and this book is one of the reasons why.』
(Small Disappointment) 『Point In Time was a surprise to me in that it seemed repetitious and predictable. I was not especially drawn to Thorn, and contemplated putting this book down before finishing it. I was surprised also by the 5 star rating it had. I must say I have read better books.』
(wonderful!) 『the characters are realstic, and the plots is fasinating, a must-read for a rainy day.』
(Once you start reading, you can't put it down!) 『Point in Time by Linda O. Johnston is a well written book. It has everything from suspense to steamy romance. The hero and heroine is well matched. Their supporting characters are humerous, loyal, and fit right in with the theme of the book. The entire range of human emotions are depicted in Point In Time. From the gentle first kiss of a would be lover to the demented mind of a killer, Linda O. Johnston leaves nothing out. I highly recommend this book to romance lovers.』 『As a successful Hollywood executive, Mariah is on the lookout for the perfect screenplay, and while scouting locations in Pittsburgh, she thinks she has it.
