Still i wont condemn it like others have. i admit i skipped a few pages because it just didnt interest me, got too repetitive after a while and too predictable.. but the majority of the book i liked. i loved Mark more than Marcus.. Marcus was just TOO manly... especially in the boar hunting scene.. if you know anything about boar hunting then you may agree ;) and the ending for Peter wasnt nearly satisfying enough. he died too easily(but thats MY character flaw). and i didnt really like that her aunt and uncle got away Scot free. but in spite of my dislikes it was good. good enough to earn it four stars anyway. why? because i love all things Roman and it DID hold me in suspense. but honestly i would have done things a bit differently....』
(Best Romance Ever) 『I Love this Book. For me, It is one of the very best Romance novels I have read. I recommend it to anyone.』
(One of my favorite books!) 『This is definitely one of the best romance books I've read historical or not. It is the story of Lady Diana Davenport who lives in regency England and is totally dismissive of men of her age as fops and fools. But this is all about to change; Diana is transported back in time, where Bath was ruled by Romans! She becomes the prisoner of General Marcus Magnus, a hardened soldier who is certainly not a fop but someone she could fall for if only he wasn't so arrogant and infuriating. But the passion between them is to much for either of them to ignore so we are treated to some very explicit love scenes (this is a Virginia Henley book after all, so it was expected). But the tension and the growth of feelings between them are palpable, not just descriptive and this is what saves the book of being just an erotica. Henley does a wonderful job at describing them as soul mates and the troubles they have to face until they get together(mainly caused by Marcus brother in the past as well as in the future) only add to the incedible suspense and tension.
This is a lovely book, so please do not dismiss it as another erotica. I have read many "proper" romances where the feelings of the heroes and the situation bringing them together are of much less concern than in this book and if you get past the intense love scenes (the story can stand perfectly well without them), you won't be able to let it out of your hands.』
(Just OK...) 『This book was so high rated on Amazon I had to read it myself. The story had some very high moments, but some not so great ones as well. I wasn't happy with the way the romance played out, it was very unsatisfying to me. Also, there were too many sex scenes in the book. Yea, one when the characters get together is very satisfying, but the book verged on soft core porn. I also wasn't thrilled by some of the things our Hero did, though he seemed to redeem himself... at times. Allin allthe story was great, but I wasn't thrilled with the results. I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from reading this book, there were moments that were great, it just wasn't my cup of tea.』
(Glamourous, sensuous historical erotica) 『I adore this book. It is my favourite historical romance novel. I totally fell in love with the heroine and the hero. Diana is the epitome of femininity and sensuality and Mark/Marcus is the virile Roman conquerer. If I were a story book character I would want to be Diana who is portrayed as a perfect goddess. Mark/Marcus is a dream lover come to life when you turn the pages of this treasure. I was deeply touched by the way the love unfolded between the two characters, how their mutual contempt turned to passion and lust then into love.』 『Where are all the real men?she wondered...
For Lady Diana Davenport, they existed only in her books and dreams. There she could lose herself, becoming the licentious Diana, goddess of the hunt--far from the rigid restraints of eighteenth-century London, where she was courted by fops and fools. That is, until she tried on an authentic Roman helmet in an antiques store and was catapulted back in time, landing in Marcus Magnus's arms. This was no dream! She was lost in Aquae Sulis, the city she knew as Bath, prisoner of a Roman general who accused the violet-eyed beauty of being a Druid spy--and then made her his slave!
"COME TO ME."
His words were soft, imperious, charged with danger and desire. Marcus Magnus was powerful, arrogant, and infuriating. A real man. And now Lady Diana was his slave, hostage to his will, vowing to fight him to the end--with every seductive weapon she possessed....

In fact, when a viking is miraculously transplanted to modern Hollywood, he can understand almost every word!
Who would have thought?
Not me, that's for sure. I barely choked down the first chapter, and continued reading the book simply for the fact that I wanted more things to chuckle about later on. Now obviously, there's a bit of "suspend your disbelief" that needs to occur, but too much of it for my taste.
At least it's funny -- though perhaps not in ways the author intended. 』
(Didn't Live Up To It's Potential) 『The Very Virile Viking -- a cute title and an intriguing idea -- too bad the book didn't begin to live up to it's potential. The premise of this book, a Viking and his many children who time travel into modern day Hollywood, is such a good idea and could have been a great book but somehow it wasn't carried through to it's potential.
Parts of it I loved. I really liked Magnus a lot. Good hero. Angela, not so much. I didn't really find anything to make me like her, endear her to me or even to make me think I really "knew" her.
The kids were fun and interesting and I don't even care much for children in romance novels as a rule. The grandmother and the cook, Juanita and her husband Miquel, were likeable too. The setting was wonderful.
However, I found the sex scenes ridiculous, too long and too often. Just too everything! I think the conspiracy by a neighboring vintner to be glossed over and not developed enough. Same with Magnus meeting with his brothers in modern day America and how and why they came to be here.
Basically there is so much that could have been done with this book and wasn't. It basically seemed that everything that happened was just another plot device by Sandra Hill to move the story along and nothing happened naturally.』
(A sexy Viking in Caifornia) 『While this book was a little uneven in the its treatment of some subjects (the vineyard, Magnus and the children were all given a lot of description and attention, but the whole Hollywood angle and how Magnus got out of that situation were glossed over), I really liked it. My favorite part was Magnus' explanation for the word Whatever - that it was what one said when they realized they had lost the argument. I loved the slow revelation in how Magnus is not just some virile stud who impregnated a lot of women, but someone who is truly tender and romantic and believes in family above all else. Now that is a sexy Viking.』
(Another great Viking!) 『Sandra Hill has given us the story of another great character from her previous books in this series. I love it when an author creates a world which has fun or intriguiging sub-characters the reader becomes emotionally invested in which the author then proceeds to develop by telling their story in their own book. Her Viking series takes us on a fun, romantic, historical and action-flled adventure with a large, extended Viking family from the 10th century and allows us to follow their escapades as they find themselves transported to modern-day America. Hill writes with a sense of humor and the dialog between her characters is amusing, to say the least. I have read all the books in her two Viking series, as well as her Cajun series, and I eagerly look forward to reading all of her future books.』
(New concept) 『This time travel book actually has the hero Magnus traveling with his children (nine of them)! Angela mistakes Magnus for an actor and quickly takes in his children and him. Magnus is attracted to Angela but has taken a vow of celibacy because he is afraid of having more children. Magnus and Angela fall in love and he discovers a wonderful thing about the future, "birth control." the problem, Angela always dreamed of a child of her own. This book is a fun part of the viking series and it doesn't disappoint』 『A New York Times Bestselling Author
Magnus Ericsson is a simple man. He loves the smell of fresh-turned dirt after springtime plowing. He loves the feel of a soft woman under him in the bed furs. He loves the heft of a good sword in his fighting arm. But, Holy Thor, what he does not relish is the bothersome brood of children he's been saddled with. Or the mysterious happenstance that strands him and his longship full of maddening offspring in a strange new land, where the folks think he is an act-whore (whatever that is), and the woman of his dreams -- a winemaker -- fails to accept that he is her soul mate . . . a man of exceptional talents, not to mention a Very Virile Viking.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not Bad for a Sequel) 『Like most sequels, Rogue's Challenge didn't really live up to its predecessor. But in its own right, it was a good story. Continuing from where we left off in Highlander's Challenge, Ian Southernland was asked by Tuck and Colin to go to the future to retrieve Jenny Maxwell to help with the birth of their baby. But when he arrives in the future, there was an altercation where Jenny has lost her glasses. And Jenny is practically blind without them. Now, they have to travel to find her some glasses before the baby is born.
I doesn't sound much of plot, but it gets the story moving along nicely and perfectly sets up the villain of the story. This might be spoiler but . . . what really bothered me about the villain was the fact he followed them into the fountain and he lacked surprise that he travel back in time. He took it as though it was an everyday occurrence which seem kind of odd. Which I know would freak me out. But that's just me. You are visited by Tuck and Colin a lot in the story which I loved. They are both as funny and loving. Ian was still his charming, ladies' man self. But you also get to know Ian better and his history, why he was the way he was. Despite being a scientist and being under her father's thumb, Jenny wasn't a weakling but as stubborn as Tuck but still have many insecurities. You watched them try to overcome their pasts throughout the story and it was nicely done. The story was paced nicely and there was enough action in the middle and end to keep interested. Plus, the ending tied up all the loose ends nicely.
It was sweet story. It didn't have the humor that I love in Highlander's Challenge but it was a good and worth reading just to see everyone's have their happily ever afters.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great Read!) 『Lynn Kurland is an amazing author. She proves once again in this book that she can really capture and keep the readers attention and interest. When I Fall In Love is a great book you are sure to enjoy!』
(Romance at it's sweetest) 『To me there is wallpaper Medieval and Medieval-lite. Lynn Kurland is definitely in the lite category. Her Medieval and time travels may not show the daily grit of life in the past, but she manages to give us the flavor all wrapped up in a nice lighthearted bow. Her latest is not without its problems - a big one, actually - but as I sit here a few days after finishing, I realize how much I like the story. And that is what counts.
Jennifer McKinnon is a talented violinist on the verge of a brilliant musical career in New York City. After her apartment is broken into for a third time, she feels the need for a change and a chance to clear her head. An invitation from her sister in England is just what she needs, so off she goes to Artane Castle. Along the way she stumbles across a smaller, crumbling castle not far from Artane and experiences a sense of déjà vu. It's on another visit to this land that she stumbles across a time gate that spirits her back to the 1200s and right into the bad guy's hands.
Nicholas de Piaget is returning to his estate when he spots his family's foe torturing a red haired woman. He quickly rushes in and saves the day like the gallant knight he is. Nicholas takes Jennifer back to his home while she tries to figure out how to get back to her family.
The thing about Jennifer and Nicholas (as well as the rest of his family) is they are not strangers to time traveling. Jennifer actually did a bit along with her sister and brother-in law in a previous novel. Nicholas might not have traveled, but his sister Amanda is now married to a man from the 21st century. Nicholas and his younger brothers know exactly what Jennifer is when they find her wearing strange fashions and talking strangely. But they keep that to themselves for the time being and let the farce of Jennifer claiming to be a Scot who is lost in England play out.
Nicholas is never sure what to do about Jennifer. At first he ignores her out of self-preservation. He knows anytime he spends with her will make him more attached to the red-haired beauty. Because of his growing feelings, he cannot bring himself to help her return to her time. When she is determined to be off, he refuses her escort. When she is nearly killed because of such action, Nicholas gives in and makes a deal with her: They will "court" for two weeks. In those two weeks there will be no heavy conversation, such as Nicholas knowing how she can return home or Jennifer revealing she is from the future. It is Nicholas' goal to have her fall in love with him so she won't want to return.
Everything Lynn Kurland writes is extremely romantic and borderline sugary-sweet. When I'm in the mood, this is a very good thing. She did a nice job of setting up both characters with enough to keep them firmly grounded in their respective time periods so the reader never knows exactly where the HEA is going to happen. Nicholas and Jennifer are both wonderfully drawn characters. I also enjoyed Nicholas' three younger brothers who will no doubt find their own novels soon. It's clear that Ms. Kurland is not done with the de Piagets yet.
What I did have a hard time with is the length. Lynn Kurland tends to put out a long book. The ones I've read so far have not lagged overmuch. In this case, there is a definite need for a diet. One hundred pages might do. There are passages, and indeed whole scenes, that do not need to be included. One instance that really got me was Nicholas recollecting Jennifer's Medieval journey so far to his sister and brother-in-law. Since as a reader I just lived through it, I was ready for the usual "...and so he told them" and let's move on. But, no, we painfully sit through the same tale once again with nothing new popping into the equation. I was tempted to skim, but thought I might miss something. I didn't.
The author squeezes in almost every other character from the past installments in the series - or at least drop the name - but I wasn't bothered. I think it could easily be read by those who've not followed the series, but I think only those who have read the author before will enjoy it as I did. As for those who haven't yet read Lynn Kurland, I don't know that I would recommend it. Instead I would probably point those readers to If I Had You as it's more towards the beginning of the series and features some of the secondary characters in this new book.
Because of the issue of length versus a good, sweet romance between two wonderful characters, I had a difficult time deciding on whether to give the book a 3 or 4 star.In the end, I was happy I read When I Fall in Love, even if it took me a bit longer than I would have liked, and so it gets my very-much-qualified recommendation.』
(Pleasant but not too challenging) 『When I Fall in Love is a charming time travel romance set in 12th century England. Because the story is set in Kurland's web of trans-temporal love stories featuring the de Piagets and MacClouds, violinist Jennifer MacCloud MacKinnon is not incredulous when she seemingly falls in a hole and is saved from being burned as a witch by a literal knight in shining armor. Author Kurland delights in showing us the quirks of the picturebook knight, Nicholas de Piaget. Nicholas is renowned in the de Piaget family for being the most handsome, chivalrous, etc. knight ever, and his reputation has stood over eight hundred years. Jennifer is unselfconsciously beautiful and without guile. She and Nicholas are gut-punched by true love immediately upon meeting. There are two obstacles to their happily ever after: Jennifer misses her family back in the 21st century, along with modern conveniences, and Nicholas's rival Lord Ledenham, who hates the de Piagets and believes they consort with witches.
Kurland's books are only loosely interwoven. It's not necessary to read Kurland's books in any order, or to read more than one. I find them enjoyable escapist romantic fantasies. The time travel is to different periods in time, and to both England and Scotland, and even some where both partners are from the same time! Grab one for a trip or time on the beach, and enjoy!』
(Drool-Worthy read =)) 『Lynn Kurland is one of my favorite authors. She perfects time-travel romance. She always leads the reader into another century where danger lurks and love awaits. Jennifer McKinnon and Nicholas DePiaget have both given up on love. Jennifer seems at first truly pathetic, low- lifes are always breaking into her apartment and all she has is her beloved violin and her family, until she falls through a time gate to the 13th century practically in Nicholas' lap. He saves her from this crazed witch hunter. Kurland makes up truly memorable and fun-loving characters. Nicholas is perfection, the ultimate dream guy =) REALLY DROOL-WORTHY, and I like strong brawny highlanders myself so that says something. I don't know why Jennifer after seeing and being near him would so desperately want to return back to her own time. All she'd be going back to is her violin...no love. Personally I'd choose Nicolas over a musical instrument any day. You will laugh until your sides hurt and there are tears pouring down your cheeks because you are laughing so hard. Read this excellent book, fall in love with the characters as I have, and enjoy a great read! Please don't miss out on a spectacular story.』
(Boring) 『The book is filled with cheesy sentimentality and trivial dialogue. Jennifer cries in every chapter, but then says that she is not a "crier". Nicholas is portrayed as a perfect knight, a warrior, but he acts like a love struck fool. There is no plot development, no character development, even the villans are pretty pathetic.
It took a whole of 50 pages for the characters to meet for the first time. They fell in love almost on the spot but went around in circles, for the first half of the book, to tell each other how they feel. There is a lot of sexual and emotional tension, but no relief.
Nicholas's brothers are everywhere. Everyone is a meddling, annoying and inserts themselves into the relationship between Jennifer and Nicholas.
The villains have a promising start, but meet a pretty pathetic end. Ledenham has a master plan to kidnap Jennifer and present her to the king as a witch. Well, he kidnaps her, but only because she decides to be brave and follow him because he stole her violin. What a fool. Instead of the conflict being resolved in a grand finale of epic fights and overflow of tension, he just trips on the violin case, falls on a sword and dies. Brigit is not being publically humiliated or cast away for being a scheming vile "wench", instead it is explained in a tiny paragraph that she is kicked out from the castle by Nicholas.
I've never read any other Kurland's books, but looks like she puts too much effort into the romantic aspect of the story, which comes out greatly overdone. The characters repeat themselves too much in every chapter. I had to skip through paragraphs and pages until a point was finally made or to get to the next plot progression.
I do not recommend this author and will not read any more of her books.』 『Jennifer McKinnon is convinced there are no more knights in shining armor-at least not in Manhattan. Little does she know that a hero of legendary chivalry waits her...800 years in the past.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Books, Books, Books) 『Wonderful book, This is my type of book were modern day meets the past, very interesting in how one handles the differences.』
(Not Really A Happy Ending) 『I wanted to like this book so much. I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of the story. Then the screwball comedy abruptly turned deadly serious. Which would have worked out all right, except nothing was resolved at the end. Tom's suffering was trivialized, and Seph didn't grow as a person, nor did their relationship. It was such a disappointment.』
(Read it for the characters!) 『*** Back cover synopsis *** Wandering the Pittsburgh airport before a business trip, Seph decided to kill time with some preflight shopping - anything to get her mind off Tom Fraser, her irresistible, dimple-chinned coworker turned travel buddy. So when a pair of to-die-for pink stilettos calls her name from a store window, she tries them on - only to be swiftly transported back to the eighteenth century and flung aboard a turbulent ship sailing the Mediterranean! There, Seph is stunned to meet Phillip Drummond, an arrogant British pirate and the spitting image of Tom. Phillip has summoned her back in time to straighten out his complete mess of a life - for he is the burly hero in the romance novel she someday hopes to write, and she is responsible for his destiny. Seph starts to fall for the smolderingly sexy Phillip. And when Tom is thrown into the mix, she doesn't know what - or who - she wants. Seph soon realizes that spotting the perfect pair of shoes may be easy, but finding the perfect man can be a real trip.
*** Personal opinion *** Wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be but it still holds some worth reading points to it. The characters' performances definitely made up for the unbelievable plot of events with the time traveling thingy. Seph's character is a very intelligent and independent woman who has really great wits. Sometimes her thoughts to herself cracks me up. Then there's the sexy-witted Captain Drum, he is such a sexy guy that would definitely make you want to wish you can travel back to 1706 to meet him ^_* . And then there's the ever so smart and charming Tom, a definite hottie that really turns you on. In the bad side of the book, in my opinion, it was unbelievable how Seph could fall for Drum's "lack of evidence" claiming of how he is "her" character in her future fiction novel and the fact that he was the one that summoned her. The way how she accepted the time traveling situation was a little bit too calm. There wasn't really a clear explanation of how Drum could share Seph's thoughts and the knowledge of how he knew he was a character of her imagination. The book would've been more enjoyable if these mysterious were solved. The most disappointing turn of events in this book was the unclearness relationship of Tom and Seph. I was looking forward to seeing some definite answers but it seemed like their possibility of a blossom relationship relies on the readers' own imagination.』
(Beware) 『While I love time travel stories this one is real confusing....one minute she is buying shoes the next she is back in 1706. One of the main characters Drumm is aware who she is....yet she doesn't have a clue who he is or why she is there when she is the one that created him or so they would have you believe...If you don't have alot of patience don't bother reading this book. I know some reviewers loved this book but for the life of me I can't figure out why or how come they kept reading it. I personally stopped because it has started to give me a headache.』
(Great read!) 『Seph Pyle is at the Pittsburgh airport with co-worker Tom Fraser when a killer pair of pink stilettos catch her eye in a store window. What better way to fill time while waiting for their flight to be called. The fit, color, feel has never been better. She plunks down her credit card, snaps the last strap in place, and finds herself on board a ship in 1706. The captain is quick to explain her arrival. After all, this is Seph's doing. He is merely a character in her book and he wants spoilers.
I have to tell you, I loved this book. Yes, there are a few bumps but nothing unforgivable. The characters were likable, fun, and real. When I read the back cover and saw two love interests, I knew whose side I was on. Umm, no. Tom won me over. I loved that he didn't spend all of his time not believing her story. And his little test to see if she had traveled, this is a guy you want to have around.
The idea that an author ends up in her own unwritten story was a great hook, and I wished this could have been expanded on a little more. With that said, the book did not lack plot.
Can we talk cover art for a minute? I am not a fan of typical romance covers, but I like this one. I think it is because the artist got it right. The cover depicts the story. Even the shoe's details are there.
This is not a by-the-book romance or time travel story. YES! (Sorry. Reviewer commentary.) I enjoy both of these genres, but this book had me turning the page because I didn't know what to expect next. My fingers so itched to flip to the last few pages before I was finished. I resisted. :)

Ms. Eymann possesses the soul of a poet and the imagination of a powerful story-teller. Of course, I already knew this, having read "The Reluctant Time Traveler," her first book which guided me into the wondrous world of Susan Jaymes.
And what a world! It's a place that combines realism and fantasy, romance and adventure, and the most remarkable characters who stay "alive" long after that last page is turned. I have been waiting for this sequel, and it does not disappoint!
Susan Jaymes was born as a "Time Thraeder," and has the ability to weave into and through elements of time and affect situations in the past. She is still a "novice" but she has a wonderful mentor/master in Lord Justin Sittwell. Their chemistry works its own magic: Susan and Justin's love begins to spark, and the pages sizzle, flashing hot against a background of intrigue, jealousy, deceit, and mystery.
Despite a past "dark secret," Susan is a fine heroine in every sense of the word: strong, noble, loyal; totally admirable. But she meets her challenge in loving Lord Justin Sittwell, an enigmatic and tantalizing character. A compelling hero among brutal men, Justin Sittwell is absolutely irresistible! He can be gruff, domineering, gentle, sensual, and absolutely deliciously sexual!
The unrelenting love of Susan and Justin is the magic at the core of this second book, and it's pure heat! But there is so much more to this fabulous adventure! This book flows without a wasted word, and despite its mystical elements, the story has a compelling logic. Ms. Eymann's latest will hold all her readers spellbound, totally enchanted, and longing for more.

(If you liked THE RELUCTANT TIME TRAVELER, you'll love the sequel!) 『Fans of THE RELUCTANT TIME TRAVELER by Lynda Eymann will be delighted to discover that LORD JUSTIN SITTWELL CLAIMS A WIFE begins where the first book ended--at the beach--as Lord Justin Sittwell and Susan Jaymes enter a more intimate phase of their relationship. The book is divided into two parts. The first half focuses on the developing intimacy between Justin Sittwell and Susan Jaymes. In the second half, Susan Jaymes is sent to accomplish a secret "task" in a brutally sexist thread of time in the 17th century.
I was glad to see that Lord Justin Sittwell remains true to his character throughout the story. He's a man who was born in the distant past and is undeniably intimidating, dominating, and highly aggressive. Unlike most of his contemporaries, however, he also respects women, especially Susan Jaymes, who is a rather aloof and conflicted young woman from the 21st century. The evolving chemistry between Lord Justin Sittwell and Susan Jaymes is genuinely magical.
LORD JUSTIN SITTWELL CLAIMS A WIFE is well-written, fast-paced, and has a definite conclusion which is certain to please romance readers. Unlike THE RELUCTANT TIME TRAVELER, this book is NOT a stand-alone novel. Readers should be familiar with the characters in THE RELUCTANT TIME TRAVELER to fully enjoy this sequel.
I loved LORD JUSTIN SITTWELL CLAIMS A WIFE and am hoping we'll get to see much more of time travelers Justin Sittwell and Susan Jaymes in the years ahead. 』 『The adventures of time travelers Susan Jaymes and Lord Justin Sittwell continue. . . . Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Kurland has yet to disappoint) 『Once again Kurland has created a gem in the form of THE MORE I SEE YOU. This is the story of Jessica Blakely and Richard de Galtres. She's a woman from the 20th century, he's a brooding knight of the 13th.
Their story has everything you could want in a romance book. Jessica has to find out WHY she is brought to the 13th century before she can possibly go home, in the interim she falls in love with the brooding knight who is full of emotional baggage from his childhood. At first hard hearted, she warms his heart to the point where every now and then he will laugh, or smile. To which he always denies he's done either. Filled with humor at every turn, THE MORE I SEE YOU, is one of Kurland's best. But then she has yet to disappoint this reader. I read this book in one day, letting my housework go so that I could find out what happened next.
As always Kurland reintroduces previous characters from her other books. They are all intertwined in one form or the other. In this case Richard was fostered at Artane with Robin being his foster father and Kendrick his brother in arms and the only friend Richard ever made. Kendrick is also privy to his childhood trauma. Not even Jessica knows the whole story, nor does Richard ever enlighten her. Jessica figures out what might have made him so "hard hearted" when she first met him from the fever he ends up suffering through after he sustained a meer "scratch."
It is in this novel that we learn of Kendrick's betrothal, marriage and subsequent death at the hands of Matilda and Richard of York. Though Kendrick's family can't prove it they suspect foul play and Richard's instinct tells him that something is very much amiss at Seakirk, but like the De Paigets he can't prove anything.
It is also in the this novel that we are once again introduced to Miles and Abby from THE CHRISTMAS CAT: A GIFT OF CHRISTMAS PAST. It's 20 years later for Abby and at Artane she finally meets Jessica, a kindred spirit from her own time. Although Abby was transported around the same time and they were close in age when Abby went back, Abby has been in the 13th century for awhile and is now in her 50's.
I was completely involved in this book. That is to say I cried when Jessica was returned to the 20th century. What I liked about it, was instead of transporting Richard to modern times, it is Jessica who stays (and brings back "goodies" from the 20th century). In many ways this could be compared to the classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tale: Richard is the scarred beast who grumbles and growls (a lot I might add but it's endearing), Jessica is the Beauty who tames him and softens his heart.
A wonderful story from beginning to end. I would recommend the reader read this one FIRST before reading STARDUST OF YESTERDAY.
The reading order for the De Piaget series so far should be as follows:
ANOTHER CHANCE TO DREAM (Rhys and Gwen (Robin's father and Mother)) IF I HAD YOU (Robin and Anne) THE CHRISTMAS CAT: THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST (Miles (son of Robin) and Abby) THE MORE I SEE YOU STARDUST OF YESTERDAY (Kendrick and Genevieve)
As I've been reading them as the author wrote them, my reading list will probably change. When I read the books again, I will read them in Chronological order as the dates appear in the books. 』
(Very good but...) 『It was a very good read but i have never read a historical romance that didn't have any sexy heart pounding love scenes. I was very unhappy when i found none! Cute, sweet, romantic story with some interesting twists but no fire under it all. Also, very confused as to what happened to Kendrick. I really don't think Richard could have found all those clues and then didn't say or do anything to find his foster brother. That would not have happened.』
(A good, clean historical romance) 『The book is mainly set in the medieval period. The world-building in this book is excellent, and the characters are well-drawn. The pacing is good, and every scene serves a purpose. The focus is more on the romance than the history, and the story will probably appeal most to those who have always wished to marry their knight in shining (or not so shining) armor. There are no explicit sex scenes, but the main characters do have sex after they're married. I'd rate this as "good, clean fun."

(...THE MORE I WANT YOU...) 『This is a light-weight time travel, historical romance novel that is laced with humor. While the writing is somewhat pedestrian and there is little character development, the story can carry the day, despite some of the historical detail being a bit questionable. The reader need only suspend disbelief to get some enjoyment out of this whimsical book.
When Jessica Blakely, a modern day miss, finds herself mysteriously transported in time to thirteenth century England, little did she know that it would be there that she would meet the man who was to be the love of her life, Richard De Galtres. He is a noble knight who has hardened his heart against love due to his harsh upbringing by a brutal father, until fate conspires to have Richard and Jessica meet and fall in love. How they overcome their differences, as Richard learns to cope with a modern woman and Jessica learns to cope with a medieval man, makes for a story that those who like reading time travel, historical romance novels will enjoy.』
(A truly enchanting tale) 『Absolutely loved this book. Couldn't put it down once I got started. Loved the tenderness between the H/H.
Richard is a tortured soul, after the abuses he suffered as a child from his father. He rescues Jessica from danger who unknowningly has landed herself in the 13th century, after wishing upon a star.
In Richard, the lonely Jessica finds her soulmate. But it takes Richard much longer to respond. He belives he has a heart of stone, and no soft feelings, so he keeps away from Jessica. As he gets to know her, he comes to love her and to trust her with his heart. He also realises she's telling the truth that she's from the future and not spouting inane nonsense when she knocked her head from fainting. And he knows too that he could lose her once again.
This is a heart-wrenching tale, with a gut-wrenching ending when they are torn apart. make sure tissues are handy for this one. Thank God they do have their HEA.』 『Setting: Medieval England, 1260 Sensuality: 7
Jessica Blakely appears to have it all as composer-in-residence at a prestigious university. But what she really wants is a husband and family. On a trip to England, Jessica walks in an estate garden and wishes on a star for a "fair and gallant knight... a man to love me at least as much as he loves himself." Within moments fog rolls in, and when it lifts the garden is gone and she's swept up by an armored knight, narrowly escaping being trampled by a mounted hunting party. Richard of Burwyck-on-the-Sea hates having to be chivalrous, but as leaving the lovely woman isn't an option, he carries her home with him.
The fact that Jessica is far, far from Manhattan takes only a little while to sink in, as does the realization that this bold, brash knight is the man for her. But for Richard, whose own dreams of happiness were beaten out of him as a child, it takes a little longer to accept that Jessica is the mate that fate and time have sent him. But even if Jessica wants to stay in 1260 England with her battle-hardened knight, will the forces that drew her to him across time allow her to remain? And if Richard gives his wary heart into Jessica's keeping, can he be sure she won't carry it away with her into the future and leave him alone?
Kurland has a talent for mixing the pageantry of medieval England and the romance of knightly chivalry with the gritty reality of everyday life. Add a brooding hero and a feisty heroine, a plot that avoids cliches, and a unique voice from Kurland that's downright charming, and you haveThe More I See You.--Lois Faye Dyer』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (*Sigh* Spectacular and Satisfying) 『This was the first ever Jude Deveraux book I have ever read. I'm skeptical to try new writers, but Jude Deveraux took my breath away. Legend has mystery, romance, time travel, and adventure all rolled into one book. There are so many surprises in this book and you are shocked through most of it. If you are looking for a book that you cant put down and thats going to keep you up all night, I highly recommend this one. You fall in love with Cole Jordan at first, then you fall in love with Tarik. You hate Gregory, he's the typical "player" type of guy who all women in the world band against. Your heart goes out to Kady as she goes through heartache and love. I fell in love with Legend, Colorado. I wanted to go there so bad after I finished reading. So please read this novel, you wont be disappointed.』
(Awsome book) 『Loved, Loved, Loved, this book. It makes you want to go to Legend. Has lots of surprises throughout the book. You wont put this one down till the end. Then you will wish for a sequel. Thank you Jude Deveraux, for another well writted time travel.』
(A Wonderful Jaunt Through Time!) 『Jude D. is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of the reasons why...it keeps you guessing, trying to figure things out. The time-travel sequences are done quite well, and believable!!! Kady was a hoot! And it's always nice to have a leading lady who is not perfect!! Flaws are what make us what we are, most heroines don't have any, so it's always great when they do, whether imagined or real!! This book is well worth your time, hard to put down and very entertaining!!!!』
(Like watching a train wreck) 『Why??? You know some writers reach a certain status and all common sense fly out the window. I could repeat the premise, but not the plot. The plot is completely MIA and there's nothing anyone can do to convince me that JD wasn't on some heavy stuff while writing this. There were literally 3 love interest (Cole, Gregory/Tarik) in this book and the real hero not being introduced until half way through the book. This is fine for Chick Lit or mainstream, but in romance??? WTF? I can see the rocks acting as a portal, but Kady first trip was no where near that portal and since the writer makes it abundantly clear that the wedding dress has nothing to with that portal or the watch, I'm left scratching my head. Plus, someone please explain to me how Tarik had a marriage certificate between Cole and Kady if Cole died when he was 9? I kept waiting for someone to point that impossibility out-but no. Apparently JD is above having editors as well. What happened to Wendell? Did Kady get her dream restaurant or is the message that what Kady always wanted to be happy is a man? Both Cole and Tarik fell in love too easily. And they both talked like women. It was just Wham! I love you. Plus, why did we have to see Tarik with Leonie and Wendell. Am I right that those two were kissing cousins? And that he socked her? Of course, this was after her brother drugged her. I mean, come on. I don't even see why she was a character in the book. She had no purpose. No way a will like that would have stood up in anyone's court and how was it that the family didn't seperate their fortunes from Ruth? None of this made any sense. I looooved Knight and Shining Armor. Remembrance was equally a headache and some of her contemporary stuff isn't hitting on anything with me either. I think it's time for my love affair with this writer to finally come to an end. Sorry.』
(Pathetic) 『I read the entire 374 pages of this book and I would not wish this book on anyone. The writing is amateurish and the story is ludicrous. Jude Deveraux wrote a wonderful book when she wrote "A Knight in Shining Armor". I like some time travel books but this book is not one of them. I could not wait to get to the end of the book but I read to the end to see how this silly story would end. Jude Deveraux needs to return to higher standards as she did when she wrote "A Knight in Shining Armor".』 『After donning an antique wedding dress, celebrated chef Kady Long finds herself transported back in time to nineteenth-century Colorado, where she is tricked into marrying the man she saves from hanging, a man who harbors a painful secret about his past.』 『Elizabeth Kady Long is 30 years old, an accomplished chef, and engaged to handsome Gregory Norman, her employer's son. While shopping for her wedding, she impulsively buys a large, dusty tin box at an antique shop. When she pries it open, she discovers an 1873 wedding dress and underpinnings, together with a photo of a family. Intrigued, she can't resist trying on the dress, and when she does, she's drawn back into the past. The year is 1873, the place is Legend, Colorado, and Cole Jordan is about to be hanged.
No one writes about time travel quite like the inimitable Jude Deveraux, and inLegendDeveraux once again delivers unforgettable characters, heartfelt romance, and a plot with twists and turns that will surprise the keenest mystery-solving reader. Don't miss this latest novel from the pen of one of America's best-loved romance writers.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Time Travel Love) 『A lovely historical romance with the hidden gates of time travel. I really enjoyed it.』
(Weak heroine, and the love was really just lust) 『From the back cover:
In medieval England, Gloriana, Lady of Kenbrook, awaits her husband, Dane St. Gregory, whom she has not seen since childhood. She is stunned to discover that he has returned with a betrothed; beautiful Gloriana is to be cast into a nunnery. Dane's mysterious sister-in-law, Elaina, counsels her to win Dane's heart or see the entire Kenbrook line imperiled.
Entranced by her passionate will, he cannot resist Gloriana's potent charm, while she falls ever more deeply in love with Dane, her valiant swordsman. But their newfound happiness is brief--suddenly, Gloriana is swept across the chasm of time to a dazzling future. Trapped centuries apart, Gloriana and Dane suffer the torment of their longing, knowing that only their love for one another and the strength of their desire can reunite them at last.
And my review:
I can't see the big deal about this book. I was so bored that I couldn't make myself finish it.
My biggest complaint was with the heroine. The author keeps stating that Glorianna is a strong woman, but I saw no sign of it. Any "strength" she showed came across as childish petulance. And what I really didn't understand was what she saw in the hero. He was so mean to her! I mean, I know that sexual attitudes were different in medieval times, but this guy was a complete and utter jerk. I'm supposed to believe that because he's gorgeous and great in bed the heroine is willing to put up with being treated like garbage? I didn't buy it.
I never saw any tenderness or love between Gloriana and Dane. It was nothing but lots and lots of sex. I have no problem with sexual attraction between the leads (in fact, it's necessary for a good romance), but there needs to be more drawing them together than just overactive hormones. It was just "I hate you, come here, let's jump into bed".
I find this author's books are either full of sex, or are sweet with only a wedding night scene at the end. I've often thought that a pen name to distinguish between these two very different styles of romance writing would have been a good idea. I don't recommend KNIGHTS, unless you want a book that's only about sex and not about real love.』
(Kind of Slow) 『The book started out enjoyably enough, we were introduced to Megan/Glorianna who traveled back in time. However, I didn't really understand her character. She was described as a "tomboy" and "willful", but it seems like all she did was dociley obey everyone and try to submit to her husband, who didn't want her. I never really understood their attraction, as they magically fell deeply in "love" with each other after they had sex. I didn't quite buy it.
When Glorianna is transported back to time, I was kind of confused about how her disappearanced wrecked Dane's life, as they had maybe liked each other for 2 days, and all of their contact was related to sex. Then, when she comes back, what's the first thing they do?? Have sex. There is way too much (bad) sex in this book, such as - "He tongued her in one long, lapping stroke, and she uttered a lusty shout, blah blah blah". They don't really seem to have a personal connection other than the booty.
After they got together and she went back to the future, I kind of lost interest. The whole plot is a little too contrived, and her old life as Megan never came back into play.
The first half of the book is fun, the second half is a bit dull. This book is much cheesier than her others.』
(OK - Not great.) 『Didn't start like a time travel at all&some things struck me as not essential to the story. I couldn't grasp the characters, Dane wasn't likealble at first - even in a good 'bad' way. Gloriana was introduced as a tomboy which was not even a part of her character throughout the rest of the book. Took awhile to get to know the couple. It finally got interesting and I managed to finish it.』
(Not the best but I couldn't put it down till the end!) 『This book is the first Linda Lael Miller's work I read. I loved time-travel theme and Ms Miller did a nice job for this plot. However, while reading it, I ,sometimes, felt a bit bored. The story started out good and interesting. A little girl named Megan time-travelled to medieval England and was raised by a rich merchants. She was given a new name, Gloriana. At the age of seven, Gloriana was married to the fifth baron of Kenbrook. Thirteen years later, Kenbrook returned home after battle. In stead of coming back to claim his bride, he brought a french beauty back with him and intended to annul his marriage. With a lot of help from brother and sister-in-law, Gloriana finally won her husband's heart. I enjoyed this part of the book greatly. However, the story after this part telling about Gloriana's time-travel back to modern day world. This part of the book is a bit confusing, specially, the same plot was repeated twice (time-travel back and forth). Because of this, it makes this book a bit less appealing. Although all the flaws indicated above, I found myself couldn't put this book down until the end. Well, this tells you something, doens't it? So, If you need something for a stress-free day, pick up this book and enjoy.』 『In medieval England, Gloriana, Lady of Kenbrook, awaits her husband, Dane St. Gregory--to whom she was married as a child--only to be stunned when he returns with a betrothed, and finds herself thrust seven centuries into the future, with the strength of her and Dane's love as her only hope.』
