He introduces important theories of Plato, Aristotle, René Descartes, David Hume, John Locke, Immanuel Kant, Georg Hegel and others to lay the foundation for philosophical inquiry. The Theory of Knowledge occupies a larger space than metaphysics in the present volume, and some topics much discussed by philosophers are treated very briefly, if at all. Still this volume is a must read for anyone wishing a better understanding of philosophy. Rerations < The Problems of Philosophy >

customer 's review"Though the title, "Why Me?" suggests self-pity, the book is not a cry for pity but more about the author's success in spite of her traumatic childhood." ~Indiereader.com
In the blink of an eye, Mom ran up behind me and pushed me into the fence. Instinctively, I reached out my arms to stop my fall and ended up grabbing the live fence. My hands clamped around the thin wires, and my body collapsed to the ground as the electricity coursed through it. I opened my eyes and saw my mother standing over me with the strangest smile on her face. "Oh, my God, I'm going to die!" I thought in panic.
Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother's arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother's tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why Me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?" I found my answers while writing my book. This is my childhood journey through the terrors of physical and mental abuse from first grade until the day I moved out. It is my way of letting the world know what was really going on behind closed doors. Rerations < Why Me? >

customer 's reviewThis book tells the story of a hurting family, an amazing little girl and a mysteriously faithful God.
Emily wasn't born perfect - so one might think.
She was born with Down Syndrome and many would jump to the conclusion that she would have very little hope for a life with any significance. Two years later came the diagnosis of leukemia. What little hope remaining turned to no hope whatsoever - or so one might think.
The life of this little girl, with all its perceived imperfections, had great meaning. Her loving nature and courage touched the hearts of everyone she met. She also taught them how to value their own lives - even with their many "imperfections."
Note: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will help families with special needs children, those who are battling pediatric cancers, as well as parents grieving the loss of a little one. Rerations < My Emily >

customer 's review"I want to be just like him when I grow up!"
After reading The Next Generation of Dads, you will feel the call to action to make a difference in the lives of children. You will appreciate how much impact you have on kids in your life and you will seek out opportunities to make a difference in their lives. You will become more aware of how impressionable children are. United, we will all go forth like an army intent on helping the future generations of children to be better off.
RC Myles is in the middle of raising his three children. He has made a point to be constantly aware of what his kids and all the kids in his life are doing. He pays close attention to how they interact with adults. He has compassion for both children and adults and the challenges they face.
By remaining a deliberate observer in a vast number of circumstances, RC has become an expert and can tune in to what works and what does not work for kids.
RC works with coaches, teachers, mentors and parents, gathering some of the better methods for success and clearly identifying some of the pitfalls that we as adults (especially men) should try to avoid when interacting with kids.
R.C. Myles challenges the young men of this generation to rise to the opportunity of becoming the greatest hero in their child's life, so that someday they too can hear, "I want to be just like him, when I grow up!" Ballantine Books(2007-08-28)
Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's reviewIn today’s increasingly complicated world, it’s often difficult for parents to connect with their daughters–and especially so for fathers. In this unique and invaluable guide, Dr. Meg Meeker, a pediatrician with more than twenty years’ experience counseling girls, reveals that a young woman’s relationship with her father is far more important than we’ve ever realized. To become a strong, confident woman, a daughter needs her father’s attention, protection, courage, and wisdom. Dr. Meeker shares the ten secrets every father needs to know in order to strengthen or rebuild bonds with his daughter and shape her life–and his own–for the better. Inside you’ll discover:
• the essential virtues of strong fathers–and how to develop them • the cues daughters take from their dads on everything from self-respect to drugs, alcohol, and sex • the truth about ground rules (girls do want them, despite their protests) • the importance of becoming a hero to your daughter • the biggest mistake a dad can make–and the ramifications • the fact that girls actually depend on their dads’ guidance into adulthood • steps fathers can follow to help daughters avoid disastrous decisions and mistakes • ways in whicha father’s faith–or lack thereof–will influence his daughter • essential communication strategies for different stages of a girl’s life • true stories of “prodigal daughters”–and how their fathers helped to bring them back
Dads, you are far more powerful than you think–and if you follow Dr. Meeker’s advice, the rewards will be unmatched.
“Reassuring and challenging . . . a helpful road map for concerned fathers [that] tackles difficult issues.” –National Review
“A touching, illuminating book that will prove valuable to all of us who are fortunate enough to have been blessed with daughters.” –Michael Medved, nationally syndicated radio talk-show host, author ofRight Turns
“Dr. Meeker’s conclusions are timely, relevant, and often deeply moving. No one interested in what girls experience growing up in our culture today–and the impact that parents, especially fathers, have on the experience–can afford to miss reading this book.” –Armand M. customer 's reviewThank you, my readers, for making this book into the bestsellers’ list in Humor>Essays and Humor>Parenting&Families categories!
What is“typical man’s” or “typical woman’s” behavior? Are we supposed to perceive our partner’s shortcomings as something impossible to change? Is it possible to just accept our loved ones for who they are? Sometimes we know them well enough to be able to predict their behaviors. From time totime the actions of the opposite sex leave us more confused than ever before. In my quest to understand a male soul, I decided to start with the closest man in my life– my husband. There are situations, events and adventures from real life presented in the form of short stories. The book is for you, if you are looking for something that will entertain and make you laugh. NOTE: This is a short book of 6,353 words– ideal for fast read! Rerations < Honey, I Just Don't Get You: My Stories about Marriage and Sex Differences (Ups and Downs of Married Life) >

customer 's reviewIn this novella (longer than a short story, but shorter than a novel), Sara Briggs, adopted as a child, has grown up to have great friends, a job she loves, and a wonderful family. Lately though, she has become haunted by nightmares. She begins seeing a psychiatrist for help, but her state of mind worsens to having hallucinations as well. Now her ordinary, normal life has become one of challenges and mysteries, and she fears at times she may be losing her mind.
This is a light-hearted story with touches of mystery, humor and romance. Although it has an adult premise, it is appropriate reading for most age groups. A fun, easy read!
