The battle animations are spectacular and the cut scenes are excellent. Complements to the developers. Ubisoft is an excellent software company. I seriously recommend this game to all those who have played the first game, Prince of Persia Sands of Time.』
(Fun game until the end...) 『... After investing 20+ hours into this game, I ran into a glich where the game would not progress to the last level. It occurs after you push the sand queen into the portal. After checking the web for tips I learned that the only way to correct glich was to start all over! What a piece of crap programming!』
(why m?) 『hi i just got the original and i was wondering why it is M? is there a way i can make my mom go for it cause if there is i would be so siked. can you like turn of the gore or something?』
(Fast Paced, and Pleasantly Fun) 『The Second installment of the Prince of Persia Series, Warrior Within's combat and satisfyingly long campaign have improved on the Sands of time, but the nice prince we see from the previous game drastically turned into a darker and more arrogant prince.
Warrior Within continues the prince's story from last year's game, so, because the prince has unleashed the mystical Sands of Time, he finds himself pursued relentlessly by a menacing time monster called the Dahaka.
The biggest new addition to the game is a deeper combat mechanic. The prince is now capable of dozens of different weapon combos, and these are context sensitive depending on whether you are holding a single weapon or dual-wielding two weapons. With a single weapon in hand, you can grab enemies and throw them. You can even strangle them. Dual-wielding takes away your throw options, but it lets you perform much more powerful weapon combos. What's interesting is that the effect of your moves changes depending on what type of weapon you have in your left hand, which is the prince's less-dominant hand.
+ Fast paced combat, more fighting moves and combos + Longer Campaign + Beautifully crafted levels + Same intense puzzle solving, and acrobatics
- Boss fights a repeititive - Lost sense of the prince's dignified character - xbox version - audio glitches
Overall Prince of Persia is an excellent sequel, and is a must by for people who love action/adventure games.』
(It was just "OK") 『Is pretty obvious to anyone who has played Sands of Time and this game to know that it lacks in quite a few areas. One thing I did find more in depth, however, was the story. This again, seemed to make the game worse. It made the prince, the story...everything seem dark. The game wasn't suttle about this either. It was like a totally new experience. One thing that seemed like a huge change from Sands of Time, in my opinion, was the very open feel of this game. In Sands of Time, you seemed to go from point A to point B with a clear path in between. This game, however, was very open-ended and I seemed to have to back track quite a bit. One good thing that comes from the open-ended approach was the length of the game; it was fairly long for an adventure game and seemed to start and end at exactly the right time. The thing I find most appealing about Warrior Within is the combat system. Although it is much the same as before, it is at the same time somewhat different. In this game, you can dual wield two weapons which is very fun. The combat system is much more free than before too which allows you to create your own combos and fighting techniques. Although the story and main character are much darker than before, the gameplay was still Prince of Persia in style. So, overall, the game was still much enjoyable.
Presentation Like I said before, the story is much darker than Sands of Time and while this isn't entirely bad, it seems like a bit much.
Graphics The graphics are very nice in this game. The environments are very open ended and look pretty realistic.
Sound The voice acting in the game is on spot. Well done. The music, however, was really loud and kind of obnoxious.
Gameplay Again, the gameplay didn't change too much, so it is very much still typical Prince of Persia platform/combat style.
Lasting Appeal Much longer than the first and there are unlockables and 2 bonus modes to play.』 『Prince of Persia 2 Warrior Within Xbox』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great game, but they leave you hanging.....) 『This is a fun game that keeps with the Baldur's Gate theme. It picks up where the last one left off. Myself and my 9 year old son played through both of the XBOX Baldur's Gate games. Unfortunately, this one sets you up for a continuation that we don't get (and probably will never get since this game came out in January of 2004 and there's not been another one since). If you enjoyed the first and want to do some more of the same, you'll enjoy this one as well. One thing to note, we played both games through on the XBOX 360. They both work, but sometimes there is some lag and the games with stutter. Not bad enough that you won't enjoy the game, but it is a little annoying. I did play on our old XBOX and they work fine there. It must have something to do with the XBOX emulation on the 360. Good luck and have fun.』
(BG 2) 『I co-op played Balders Gate 1 with a few friends and complected it we wanted another game to co-op play and didn't have much luck finding one until I found out they made a sequel. This is as much fun in co-op mode ad the first BC!』
(I really cannot play enough of this game) 『I've enjoyed Baldur's Gate for the pc and I recently played the crap out of BGDA, where it loses the fun if I play much more of it. However, Dark Alliance II is still very new to me with just enough new things (characters, quests...) to keep it interesting.』
(Great 360 compatible game) 『This game is just plain fun if you like the top-down or "isometric" hack and slash type of carnage. I never really paid much attention to the story-line... I'm sure it's just dandy. What I REALLY wanted to say is don't pay 65 smackers to the sellers here- I bought it for 30 at Wally-world today.... and they had 3-4 more. Now that it's been announced as 360 compatible it's gonna be in demand, but hopefully the publisher will burn some more. Don't get ripped off. It's a great, fun game with excellent cooperative multiplayer (!!!!!) but it's not 65 bucks great.』
(Good) 『I have owned this game for a long time. I had initially put it down after turning on the game and realizing that you could not (as the game case says) us "other" baldur's gate charaters in this one, as they totally changed the race/class combinations. Finally, after about a year or more (not really sure) of sitting on my shelf, I picked it back up and started playing. The classes were better than the first and gameplay was just as pleasing. The game also had plenty of playtime to keep me busy for quite a while. Some games I burn through in a day or two and that really burns me after spending 50$ on a game. Overall great game, I am still dissappointed that you cannot import old characters from the first dark alliance, but I got over it I guess.』 『MODEL- 72020 VENDOR- VIVENDI FEATURES- Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance II The anticipated sequel has arrived. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Everything i expected) 『Great Doom fun. I especially like the inclusion of the original and Doom2. Even if you have payed it a hundred times it was great to play it on my big screen instead of my computer.』
(4 1/2 Stars Great Game!!) 『I just beat DOOM 3 about a hour ago and I really enjoyed the game. For an XBOX the game the graphics are really nice and look better to me then alot of 360 games. I think the game did a nice job with the music and presented a nice scary atmosphere throughout.
The controls and the "flashlight" feature seemed like they might be confusing at first and shouldn't be a problem for anyone who really takes the time to play the game.
The only real knock on the game was the storyline! You really don't have any cut scenes just a lot of running around killing and fighting monsters, which is great but still. I feel that they could of given you more of a plot.

(Awesome!) 『I got this game really fast in the mail. I mean really fast. And even tho this game is used, It works perfect. No scratches or nicks in the disk, it is absolutely wonderful. I am having an awesome time, and I can't wait to buy from you guys again!!!』

(Action Perfection) 『Doom 3 is yet another wonderful example of just how entertaining video games really are. With 40 levels of demon blasting, chainsaw wielding goodness, there is much fun to be found in doom 3.Just like titles such as: Halo 2, Chronicles of Riddick and Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory, Doom 3 uses "normal mapping technology" to bring an unprecedented sense of realism to the game's environments.Along with looking absolutely realistic, the sound of the game is astounding, adding an enormous amount of tention to the player's experience by provoking emotions of fear and terror at what could be around the next dark corner.A large array of weapons is also at the player's disposal. With such weapons as rocket launchers,mini-guns,shotguns,pistols,chainsaws,grenades,assault rifles and the "BFG"-(Bio Force Gun),gamers will have no trouble mowing down the countless hordes of demons that vie for the players soul.Along with a single player experience that lasts 20+ hours, the developers have also included the original dooms 1 and 2 to the collectors edition of doom 3. The multiplayer aspect of the game is compromised of the usual modes found in action games, including: deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag ect.In conclusion: one could say that Doom 3 is almost the perfect game, With a single player experience that lasts over 20 hours, huge weapons, thousands of enemies, unbelievable graphics and sound, solid multiplayer and an excellent storyline, Doom 3 is an action game that rivals the best and one that should not be missed.』 『DOOM 3 Collectors Edition Xbox』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (My Thousand Cuts Style is Stronger Than Your Heavenly Wave Style!!) 『I remember being a kid and watching all of the old Kung-Fu classics that this one television station used to show on lazy Sunday afternoons. Most were cheesy. Some were outright over the top. For example, there was this one movie (I can't remember the name of it) where a monk with a bo-staff was wandering through a graveyard and all of a sudden several ninjas erupted out of the ground underneath him and started stabbing him in the gut. His intestines were hanging out of his pant leg and he STILL kept slaughtering them by the dozens. The only way they beat him was when he stepped on a loop of his own intestine and went down on one knee and the only pain he showed was this puzzled look on his face. And that was another thing about those movies; no one seemed to die simply. If one of the protagonists got killed, they had to stagger around, looking enraged, take out a couple more enemies WHILE THEY WERE DYING, and then do a backflip and three front somersaults before they went to the ground and were still.
But they were still good fun to watch when you had nothing else on your plate for the day.
Jade Empire is a successful creation of this type of fun. The outlook is a little more serious, but playing this game evokes a deep feeling of notstalgia 'for me younger days'. Plus, the play time ranges anywhere from thirty to forty hours, MUCH longer than the time it took me to get through any of those chop-sockey films. If you like fantasy-based roleplaying games with a twist, you'll like this one.
GAMEPLAY-5 Stars Jade Empire weaves one of the richest tapestries of culture for a console game of this scope, based on the Chinese dynasties of ancient times (quick useless fact: In ancient China, jade was considered so precious a stone that only the emperor was allowed to possess it). The developers even went so far as to create a fictional language, called 'Tho Fan', that the older members of the Empire still converse in.
Like every other game that Bioware has produced, you're given a choice of which character you want to play, all in a third-person based perspective, male or female, fast, strong or balanced, and the moral path you take is also entirely in your hands, with certain aspects of the game altering according to the decisions you make, both at the onset and during the course of your adventure.
Unlike previous games produced under the Bioware aegis, combat is real-time and you can switch your mode of attack on the fly to best take advantage of the situation you're faced with. You can choose between attacking bare-handed, with a weapon, magically or by supporting your team member and each method bears its own strengths and weaknesses when compared to the nature of the opponent you're squaring off against, whether it's a mundane pirate, demon, ghost or what have you.
This is also one of the few original xbox games that will play smoothly on the xbox 360. The one major issue I've seen here is that, in some spots, the texture mapping is blank on certain items and all you see is the greyscale model, but that's rare.
There are three basic statistics that define your character: Body (raw physical might and ability to withstand injury), Mind (ability to think reflexively) and Spirit (ability to manipulate your internal chi energy). There are also three secondary attributes: Health (the ability to take damage before you die; influenced by Body), Chi (raw internal mental energy; influenced by Spirit) and Focus (the measure of your ability to concentrate on one particular action to improve the outcome; influenced by Mind). Aside from your combat skills, there are three conversational skills which can directly affect the dialogue you maintain with people. These are: Charm (friendly banter), Intuition (amount of insight you have on a given person's motives) and Intimidation (ability to coerce by threats).
The mechanics of gameplay are skill-based. The experience you get from your accomplishments goes towards an overall level threshold. Once that threshold is reached, you're given a certain number of skill points that can be allocated among the skills that you possess. Each skill can be increased 5 times before it maxes out and they are each broken down into three sub-categories which govern the speed of the attack, the damage caused and the reduction of the cost of chi needed to use that skill.
One of the main complaints the other reviewers gave this game is in the amount of conversations you have with other parties. I remind them that this IS a roleplaying game. It's a LOT more immersive than your average shooter. Through these conversations, you learn about the nation's history, lifestyles, objectives you may take to progress forward on your quest and Monty Python's John van Cleese does a cameo appearance as Lord von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Ba$tard in the Imperial City's scholar's garden, and he's ALWAYS good for a few laughs.
STORY-5 Stars It's a story that's withstood the ages, with mythic Chinese legend thrown in for good measure. A promising student at a school learns of their epic destiny. His (or her) master is abducted and they begin a quest to rescue him. Along the way, they gather a following a like-minded individuals out to do the same thing or something similar and, teaming up, find out they're responsible for saving the world.
Bioware also puts the cliffhanger that they're known for into the plot. I was expecting it going into Jade Empire from the previous games I've tried from them, but the first time I saw it, the epiphany STILL had me going "Duuhh..." from the revelation. That alone was worth the price of admission. You discover that Sun Li the Glorious Strategist truly IS a master when preparing his battle plans.
SOUND-5 Stars The score for Jade Empire is vintage ethnic Asian. It fits the mood of the game perfectly and adjusts to whatever type of area you find yourself in. From the grand sweeping epic music when traversing the Imperial City to the slow, moody sounds as you wander through a haunted inn or graveyard to a more laid-back score when doing your thing in a village (not to mention the heavy percussive riffs as you enter battle), original score designer Jack Wall earned his pay with this one. It all comes through beautifully in 5.1 surround sound.
The voice acting is also top notch. John van Cleese is hilarious as the slap-happy opinionated conquistador. I believe Nathan Fillion, lead actor from the ill-fated Fox sci-fi series 'Firefly' also plays a bit part at the beginning.
GRAPHICS-5 Stars For its time, Jade Empire was one of the most visually appealing games on a console. Considering the active code required for everything you could do in the game, the graphics themselves were pure eye candy and show the skill of the developers. There is some fade-in with the people wandering around the areas, but it doesn't detract appreciably from the gameplay and the framerate stays at very smooth levels. There are no dynamic shadow effects, but the lighting in the game only serves to enhance the mood.
REPLAY-5 Stars Like every other production from Bioware, Jade Empire allows you to take a different path each time you play through it. This lends a staying power that you don't normally find in a game.
OVERALL-5 Stars "Confucius say, one who plays Jade Empire has many hours of enjoyment."
Through five different playthroughs, in whatever choice I made, I've enjoyed every minute of my time wandering around and seeing the sights. Games are about escapism and being someone else for a time. This game serves up a full helping of fun and anyone else who disagrees with my assessment, you can come and see me. I'll give you a 'HAH!!' and a 'HA-YAH!!' My 'positive outlook style' is stronger than your 'grumpy crab style'.
Nuff said.』
(Fun game but a little short.) 『has a good story line but i must say kinda short... its about 19 to 20 hrs which isn't alot. Or i could just have gone through it really fast... the controls are pretty easy and it becomes a second nature, i only had one problem with it and that was the game was scratched, it only had one time it didn't work. and i turned off the xbox and turned it back on and loaded my most recent and i was good to go. GREAT GAME I just suggest you spend more time on character relationships ships than i did. because i was in a rush to finish mine. GOOD GAME』
(Awesome RPG) 『This is my second favorite game ( the first being KOTOR, also by BioWare). The storyline is rich, as as the characters. Sky is one of my all-time favorite characters (along with Carth from KOTOR). The scenery on this is breaktaking. I enjoyed the "good vs. evil" decision in this game, as it is really innovative. It goes so much further than just good vs. evil. It has 2 leaning, the Way of the Open Palm, which is not that different from general 'I've got to help everyone who comes along' good, and the Way of the Closed Fist. The Closed Fist is one of my main reasons for liking this game so much. Basically it states that only the strong survive and florish, while the weak fade away. There was this one point in the game, as someone asked you to describe your surroundings, and there was one option that just blew me away; it talked about how everything fades over time, even the earth. Just the way it was written was beautiful. Another example is giving a young girl a knife and giving her the oportunity to kill the man that had put her into slavery (of course she can't do it anyway) instead of you just killing him. Get this game, especially the Limited Edition, as there is an extra character. BioWare, make a sequel!』
(Doesn't let go!) 『I came late to the Jade Empire party, not even knowing the game existed until a couple months after I picked up an X360, but I am hooked! This game is fantastic! I've played "Knights of the Old Republic," also by developer Bioware, and I thought that was one of the best RPG games I'd ever played. Then I picked up "Jade Empire."
The storyline is deep, the characters are fully drawn, the side quests are actually fun and interesting (instead of the usual go-there/pick-that-up/come-back sorts of tripe), the graphics are beautiful (especially for last-gen), and the combat system is truly unique and full of variety. Still being in college, I don't actually have a lot of time to play games, even though I LOVE videogames, but this one easily hooks me for a couple hours every time I sit down with it. (Which means I don't even turn my X360 on when I have a paper due!)
If you want a truly unique and engaging RPG, this is the one. I've read some of the other reviews, and they have some good points: the load times are REALLY long, there is a lot of dialog, and it is a slower paced game. The load times become irrelevant, though, once you start playing the levels, and the dialog is interesting and well written (as opposed to KOTOR 2 -- THAT was boring dialog). As to the pacing, if you're used to beat-em-ups like Final Fight or button-mashers like Ninety-Nine Nights, then this game is certainly not for you. If you want a unique RPG set in a fully-drawn and incredible universe, then this is the game you want.』
(Hampered by load times) 『I am a very patient gamer, preferring RPGs and tactical games with thought and storyline, but the load times for this game were troublesome enough to completely disrupt the flow of the game completely for me. Though the load times are "short", less than 30 seconds each, they are so frequent (near many combat starts) that within the first hour and a half of the game, I was bent over in frustration. It got a bit better as I went along, but I had to call it quits after 2 hours since I felt like I was wasting mytime. In comparison, a game such as Half Life 2 on Xbox which also has regular loading times of 10-20secs each are well-placed so that they do not interfere with the flow of the game significantly.
I'm surprised more people have not commented on the poor loading times of this game - despite the high reviews of this game, it went to discount unusually quickly which makes me suspect a general problem in the loading times.
On the brighter side, the graphics, storyline, and gameplay did seem to be 1st rate (when I wasn't just waiting for the loading..) and does live up to the high expectations. If you have to try it, I would recommend a rental first to see if you can stomach the pace of the load times.』 『Jade Empire is a new kind of role-playing adventure, set in a mythical, medieval China. You are a young martial artist, studying under your master's watchful eye and developing your mystical powers. When danger threatens from the ruling authorities, you must travel across the world and learn the secret martial styles&techniques. Use them to defeat the most powerful enemies and carve a place for yourself in the Jade Empire.Limited Edition features: Bonus content, extra characters, additional combat techniques, "making of" video and playable demos of upcoming games.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The best Silent Hill story) 『Silent Hill 2 is one of the best installments in the series. Each game has it's own stand-alone plot and is only loosely tied to the other games in the series (with the slight exception of 1 and 3), so if you haven't played the first one, it's no problem. This game boasts arguably the best plot in the series and is highly recommended for fans of the horror genre.
If you've played the Playstation version of the game and are looking to get this one, I have a few cautionary words. First, the XBOX only has pressure-sensitive trigger buttons, which make the controls difficult to customize to the way you would be used to playing on the PS2. And second, the game is a little glitchy. I know that it's not just my copy of the disc because I have read a lot of similar complaints about this very version of the game from many other people on other sites. Specifically, at some random points in the game, the graphics will break down and stop showing any textures. So, all you see is the basic map design and no detail. When this happens, it becomes dangerous to save a game, because once you do, the game will refuse to even go to the main menu the next time you turn it on (at least on the 360. I'm not sure if this same problem happens on original XBOX). And one other minor glitch that usually happens is the sound getting cut out at random parts. Thankfully, these glitches don't occur very often.
Other than that, the XBOX version includes a couple of very cool extras for fans of the original. Born From a Wish is a supplemental game scenario in which you can play as the supporting character Maria. If you already knew this and were wondering how deep the scenario is, it's fairly long. I was very pleased with the sub-game. It's only one level - a mansion, similar to Resident Evil - and you briefly visit the apartment building and the streets of Silent Hill. Beating the sub-game doesn't unlock any new goodies, but you can enjoy using a Chinese cleaver and Revolver as Maria. Also, the story is a nice little prologue to the actual game.
One more extra that the XBOX version boasts is a secret UFO ending that has become a comic staple to the series.
Overall, as a huge fan of the Silent Hill series, and a XBOX 360 owner, I am very happy that I can revisit this old classic on my new system. Although the glitches can be a bit trying sometimes. 』
(One of the greatest games ever.) 『The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario 64
and then of course SILENT HILL 2: RESTLESS DREAMS!!
One of the most beautiful love stories ever created. And of course THE scariest game of all time. I truly am speechless when it comes to this game. It was just simply brilliant. The characters, monsters, and the score just added to the already great game.
Highly recommend it. 10/10, Two-Thumbs WAY UP, BUY IT NOW, you won't regret it.』
(Fun Exploration, Weak Combat) 『Silent Hill 2- Restless Dreams Restless Dreams is almost the exact same game as the Playstation version of the game. The only difference is there is an added scenario you can play through. The storytelling is very dark and disturbing. The graphics shift from dark and weird, to demonic and disgusting. The sound in the game is amazing. The problem with the game lies in the repetitive gameplay. I love this game, but I will admit that it has an extreme flaw.
Graphics- 9.5/10 The graphics don't exactly look realistic, but they are done in a cinematic way that will leave you breathless. The cut scenes are often short, but run seamlessly into the normal gameplay graphics. The picture often has a fuzzy, dark look to it that reminds me of an old horror movie. The cut scenes are done amazingly and you will find yourself immersed in the world they have created.
Environments are designed well, and will even change as you go through the gameplay. One time you might be walking through a spooky hallway, but after a major point in the story that same hallway has blood all over it. There is a considerable amount of fog in the game, but it is not to hide graphical failures. You know this because later in the game the fog is gone and replaced by darkness.
The dark in this game is creatively done too. If it is too dark, your character won't be able to investigate items or his map. You get a flashlight early in the game, but there are points where you will just not be able to use it and will have to figure out what to do. At the same time though, your flashlight alerts enemies of your presence.
The enemies in the game, despite not having many of them, look great. Some stand like mannequins and only move when you get close enough. Others with stumble around until you take them down, then they will crawl across the floor. There are only about 6-7 different enemy types in the game though.
Story- 9/10 You are James Saunderland. You have been a broken man since the tragic death of your wife, Mary, three years ago. One day you receive a letter from your thought dead wife. She asks him to meet her in Silent Hill at their "special place." James is unsure of what is going on, but he has to check it out.
Along your trek through Silent Hill, you will meet many troubled people. Speaking to them will bring chills down your spine. Important characters you meet will be Laura, an 8-year old girl, and Maria, a striking Mary look-alike. These characters all evolve over the course of the story.
The story is excellent. It does have a few problems though. One, the story is very complex and you really have to think about it if you want to understand it. You might even have to talk to a few other players to even understand it. The story is left open like that. Another problem is that the monsters that you face off with throughout the game seem to be an after thought. They are not truly explained until the very end of the game. I felt that it was too late by then.
Sound- 9.5/10 The sound in this game is almost perfect. Early in the game you get a radio. The radio only plays static, and only when an enemy is close. This is a good way to create suspense. Sometimes the radio will actually play words they you should pay attention to.
The voice acting is mostly good. I felt that James felt too calm, but everyone else I liked. The monsters all sound disturbing. Gun and melee weapon noises are decent. Sometimes the addition of random disturbing sounds really creates a great atmosphere in this game. Great sound overall.
Gameplay- 7/10 You start on the outskirts of Silent Hill. All you have is a map, the letter, and a photo of Mary. You make your way into town to try to figure out if Mary is there. You discover a town full of monsters and closed to the public in almost everyway. Mary keeps sending you clues, and you follow them like a dog...because usually every other way is closed off. The game is like a mystery adventure game with some monsters along the way.
This game plays out very similar to Resident Evil. I have always liked Resident Evil, so I thought this would be a good thing. It is not though. The monsters in this game are lacking, and never really pose much of a threat. They are disturbing, but you can just walk right past them. In Resident Evil, a zombie or a hunter always had a chance to injure you. In this game there is almost not chance you will get hurt by the monsters. When they do hit you, it lacks the suspense. The monsters are just not a big enough deal for you to care about them.
The rest of the gameplay has you following Mary's clues. They lead you to Apartments, Museums, and Hospitals. The concept involves you entering a building and trying every door until you find one that works. Most of the doors are broken and you'll never get in them. Every single building, it is the same thing. Once you find a key or something, you go back and unlock a door. However, this never gets tedious. I enjoyed exploring the various building and find out the secrets of Silent Hill.
This game implements melee and gun combat. Both are horribly done. All melee weapons in this game are imprecise and often get you hurt before you can hit an enemy. The auto-aim feature in this game is horrible. You often think you have aimed, but instead you will hit the wall or something. There are very few weapons even in this game to start with, and none of them excite you to wield them.
Difficulty- 6/10 (Note- This is how much I like the difficulty) Difficulty is very well done in this game. You can adjust puzzle difficulty and monster difficulty separately. This allows for you to adjust the two key features of this game for your playing style. This is very innovative in a video game, as games usually just have a couple difficulty settings that change everything. This game allows you to customize different aspects of the gameplay.
Why did I give this category such a low score then? No matter what difficulty you put this game on the monsters will be too easy. They serve almost no purpose, so it's not fun killing them. Also, the exploration in the game is based on luck. You stumble onto things that help you. In the beginning, you aren't even told where to go. You just have to search the huge town until you find something. There are not a lot of suggestions as to where you need to go.
Overall- 7.5/10 I like this game a lot. I really do. I just can't give it that great of a score considering the weak gameplay and luck-based exploration. Sound, graphics, and the story are great, but not enough to pull this one up more. I still suggest buying this one if you are looking to enter a very disturbing world, but don't expect the best gameplay.』
(WAY TOO HARD AND CLUNKY 6 OUT OF 10) 『Silent Hill 2 : Restless Dreams succeeds at giving off the series trademark creepy vibe and filling you full of despair while scaring the s*** out of you. Unfortunately, issues mar this game from reaching its true potential. First off the game is way too hard for people who are not familiar with this series. Your objectives are not explained well which will leave you confused and wondering where you're supposed to go and what to find. You'll find yourself constantly looking at your map to locate streets and specific locations which will slow you down. Second, is the controls. The combat in this game is extremely clunky and unreliable and I found myself asking; "Why do I have to press two buttons to attack an enemy? And why is his reponse time slow? Why does my camera change views for me?" I liked the really creepy vibe in this game but it's so hard to control and solve clues. I am hoping since a new developer is working on Silent Hill 5 that it will function properly and be easier to work with. But this game is for Silent Hill fans only.』
(x-box version has more!) 『This game is different from the playstation2 version! It has an extra side mission where you can play as Maria. The only way to get this on the ps2 is to get the "greatest hits" version. This game has 4 standard endings, and two strange out-there endings so replay value is relatively high. Keep in mind the game was made years ago, so the scares aren't as extreme as Fatal Frame for example, but it gets better towards the end.』 『Become James Sunderland, as he returns to Silent Hill after receiving a note from his deceased wife Mary.』 『With its Poe-like atmosphere, dense fog, pitch-black hallways, and a cryptic letter from a dead wife,Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreamspromises to surpass the paranoia created by its predecessor,Silent Hill. The sequel opens with James Sunderland, the series' average joe protagonist, reading a mysterious message that says, "Silent Hill, our sanctuary of memories. I'll be waiting for you there." More puzzling is that the note is signed by Mary, his deceased wife.
James sets out for Silent Hill hopeful that he'll find a trace of Mary. After an aborted attempt by car, James plunges into the dank fog and embarks on his quest by foot. Enter Angela, a woman who bears a striking resemblance to Mary, and who also beckons him with another curious message. It seems James can't go back; strange things are happening in Silent Hill.
Silent Hill 2offers 10 new formidable foes, plenty of puzzles, and bone-chilling gameplay. The sequel's new story and characters promise to thrill and terrify. The visual and sound effects are amazingly detailed and macabre, and, if you're playing on a system with surround sound, you may find yourself keeping the lights on.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not What I Expected) 『Thought this would be a fun- always been a fan of Sonic and my 6 year old loves him. This "collection" doesnt even allow you to play all the games listed. The graphis are awful compared to Crash Bandicoot, Star Wars and Cars for the same system. Maybe because it was meant for Sega? I dont know- but dont waste your money.』
(A great collection) 『If you never had them or just want to play them again. This is a great collection of all those sonic games I grew up playing.』
(a good collection missing afew rare gems) 『This collection is a must have if your feeling abit nostalgic. It contains some of the best games of all time inparticular the four Mega Drive classics (Sonic 1, 2, 3&Knuckles) and the fantastic Sonic&Knuckles lock-on mini games. You also get the Mega Drive versions of Dr Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic Spinball and the dull Sonic 3D: Blast, the last Sonic game made for Sega's 16 bit console. This collection also includes a selection of rare Game Gear games. Some of these are quite fun others are not so good.
Here are all games included in this collection:
Mega Drive: Sonic The Hedgehog **** The first Sonic game released for the Mega Drive.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 ***** The second Sonic game introduced us to Sonic's new sidkick Miles 'Tails' Prower, a two tailed flying fox. The game was also a much larger affair, with 10 levels intead of 6.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 **** The third outing for Sonic and Tails introduced us to Kunckles and the mysterious Angel Island.
Sonic&Knuckles **** The fourth game in the series was the last great Sonic game ever made in my opinion. It featured a special lock-on capability which allowed you to plug all the previous games in the series into the top of the cartrige and unlock special games.
Sonic Spinball ** Not much to say about this game. It's simply a pinball game, and a bad one at that.
Sonic 3D *** The last Sonic released for the Mega Drive. The pointless attemt at 3D made this a dull and slow affair when compared to the other four games in the series.
Dr Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine *** A puzzle game featuring Dr Robonick from the animated series 'The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog'.
Sonic&Knuckles lock-on games:
Sonic 3 special stage game (Sonic 1) *** Knuckles in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Sonic 2) ***** Sonic 3&Knuckles (Sonic 3) *****
Game Gear Games: Sonic The Hedgehog *** Sonic Chaos *** Sonic Drift ** Sonic Labyrinth * Dr Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine *** Sonic Blast *
There are also four non-sonic unlockable games, their nothing special but worth a look.
The Ooze ** Comix Zone*** Flicky * Ristar ***
This is a great collection, however i still can't understand why Sega felt the need not to include rare titles such as Sonic CD, Sonic R and Sonic The Fighters. Even though they have released them together in the Sonic Gems Colletion, i still feel it would have been much better to have released them all in one big collectors package instead.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (This game is definitely for those who like to take cheap shots.) 『There is nothing like playing a game that requires every mission to be done virtually in complete darkness. Thief Deadly Shadows requires thieving skills such as pick pocketing and picking locks to open treasure chests and entering doors. Having to watch out for the gaurds is always a must even though you don't commit a crime. Hiding from the people who walk around at night really isn't necessary unless they see you commit a crime and they go and find the gaurd. When I have to attack somebody from behind knocking them out cold I always hide the body in a place where nobody will notice it and steal their valuables to sell at the black markets to make a profit.』
("I Have the Power to Take Everything From You, Including Your Life...") 『I've never really played any of the other 'Thief' games for the PC. The closest I came was on a demo disc that was included with my PC version of 'Omikron: The Nomad Soul' (I also have the Sega Dreamcast version of OTNS and that game alone is one of the major reasons to have owned that ill-fated console; I still have mine and, after all these years, it works great). I liked what I saw, but at the time my playing method for any game was to hope my health could take it, with cheat codes if I could find them, bullrush in and hope I killed everything in sight before moving on to the next area. Well, to my surprise, that doesn't seem to work on a stealth-based game. So, I decided to put the demo down and focus on other types of games.
Along comes this maverick company by the name of Ion Storm who produced a game called 'Deus Ex: The Conspiracy' for both the PC and PS2. Its gameplay was absolutely novel for it's time and it launched IS's reputation as one of the premier companies to watch. The game's sequel, 'Deus Ex: Invisible War', for the original xbox cemented that reputation, so when they announced they were coming out with the next Thief game, I eagerly waited for it to appear on the shelves.
Now, when this game initially came out, it ran the gamut of bad reviews, but I attribute that to the fact that no game that came out under the Eidos aegis at the time seemed able to be seen in a positive light. Being that I typically root for the underdog and the fact that I like to make up my own mind on such things, I decided to purchase Thief: Deadly Shadows and see for myself. It had two things going for it. First, it was from a company whose games I enjoy immensely, and second, it was fantasy-based. I've been playing the tabletop version of 'Dungeons and Dragons' since the fourth grade, so I love the fantasy genre.
I have to say I haven't been disappointed with this game. Some of the reviewers have compared this to the 'Splinter Cell' franchise. I remind everyone that this franchise pioneered ALL of the stealth-based games, from Splinter Cell to the 'Tenchu' series to 'Hitman'. Deadly Shadows is also much more free-roaming than Splinter Cell if you're not on a specific mission AND gives you more to do in a given area.
GAMEPLAY-5 Stars I normally like roleplaying games a lot more than the average shooter or action/adventure game, but Thief: Deadly Shadows managed to hit my fun button. First of all, it's not a game based on forced moral judgements. You play a thief, pure and simple, and your job is to make a living by relieving others of their personal belongings. There's a vicarious thrill in doing something you know as 'wrong'. Understand, I'm not advocating that ANYONE take what I've written in this review as a prompt to go out and commit illegal acts. That said, the only moral judgements should be made by parents who don't want their kids playing this game to be exposed to this kind of venue because they feel they might be unduly influenced towards a life of crime. Additionally, you DO have a choice in how 'evil' you want to be over the course of the game. You don't HAVE to kill any of your victims. You have the option to sneak up behind them and render them unconscious by hitting them with your trusty blackjack. Thief: Deadly Shadows keeps a running tally of the number of people you kill or render unconscious as well as the total amount of loot you score and the damage you take.
Thieving is by nature almost wholly urban-oriented. You're not going to find very many riches hunting around the odd farm house out in the countryside. Therefore, this game gives you a city to run around in. It's a bit restricted at first, but as you progress in the story, more districts of town open up for you, giving you the opportunity to try your luck in areas ranging from a castle belonging to a decadent family at the onset to the docks (the low-rent part of town) to a forgotten subterranean ruin inhabited by strange creatures, a sailor's house on an atoll overlooking the bay, a couple of haunted areas -a ghost ship (The Abysmal Gale) and a former orphanage/insane asylum (Shalebridge Cradle), respectively- to the well-to-do suburbs where the high and mighty of the community stroll along well-lit, well-patrolled streets.
Ion Storm's philosophy (before the company was dissolved by Eidos) was that you get to choose how you play the game. That's why the Deus Ex games were as open-ended as they they were. They carried that over into this game as well in a lesser form. You can play the game in either a first- or third-person perspective based on your preferences. This is also one of about five games that I've run across where, if you are playing in first-person, you look down and actually see your torso, legs and feet. Also, as the story progresses and you're assigned various missions by the secret society known as the Keepers, there are numerous times where several missions are presented at the same time and you have the option to choose which one to undertake first. And also later on in the game, when you have the gold for it, you can purchase a set of climbing gloves that allow you to scale up the sides of buildings to the rooftops so that you're not limited to skulking around in the shadows of the city streets avoiding the watch.
Another aspect of Thief: Deadly Shadows' open format is that there are two factions, the Hammers (an old-school fire and brimstone 'convert or DIE, scum!' religious order of priests) and the Pagans (a group of nature-loving mystical Luddites). You become involved with them over the course of your adventures. You have the option to perform errands for each one to improve your standing with them, with the benefit of being able to use the resources at their locations should you need them.
Stealth is key when performing in this game. I learned in the course of my first playthrough that I couldn't just strut through town like I owned the place and cut everyone down that got in my way. If you kill a guard or citizen, they let out a loud scream that draws the attention of passersby before falling in a pool of their own blood, which incidentally stays there to put the watch on notice that something bad has happened. Leaving a body, either unconscious or dead, out in the open for anyone to stumble on is not the smartest thing to do, so if you take someone out, make sure there's a shady spot to put them in so they don't get noticed. There are also no end to the guards for a given district. You can't remove them all and if you try, you can bet that when you return to that area a new guard will have have appeared to take his place and THAT one might just be looking for you. As a thief, the first thing you learn is patience. And it's not like you aren't given the tools to ply your trade. There are several different types of arrows you can fire that will aid you in your missions, allowing you to snuff out torches, lay a soft covering of moss over loud metal grates (and those moss arrows can be shot at opponents to distract them for a quick getaway; I think it's kind of funny to watch them staggering around, gagging and choking) or cause a loud fireworks display in the distance to draw attention away from you. You also have flash bombs to blind enemies and jars of oil to make them slip and fall. If all else fails, you DO have your trusty dagger. For any of the undead you might run across, you can either pick up jars of holy water or shoot fire arrows at them, both of which are really the only way to take them down for good.
The people wandering around also notice when changes are made. If you snuff out a candle or torch or leave a door open or the lid to a treasure chest, house servants or guards might see reason to search for you. If they spot you, someone will give chase and keep after you for some time after you lose them. Keep to the shadows.
One of the main complaints other reviewers gave this game was that the areas were tiny. Granted, but considering the technical capabilities of the hardware, that may be all the designers could put in for a level. There's still enough space to roam around in to keep me occupied for an average of about 15 hours per playthrough. That's almost twice the length of time the typical shooter will take me from start to finish. In those areas, there are taverns and homes you can break into on each day of game time to grab some loot to foist off at the nearest fence. Given the area, it may take some time to steal all the goods, like in the museum you break into during one mission in the rich part of town. You can also spend your time wandering around picking the citizens' pockets for extra swag. Another complaint I read somewhere is that the game takes place only at night. I'm not quite sure what that reviewer was thinking, but as a thief it stands to reason that you really don't want to try stealing anything in broad daylight.
STORY-5 Stars The story of Thief: Deadly Shadows takes place over a week of game time. You are Garrett, master footpad and former member of the Keepers, the secret guardians of the City. You're simply trying to make your way through life doing what you do and not get thrown into prison. While getting rid of some treasure at a local fence, you receive a letter from one of your former associates to meet you in the town plaza. It seems they have a job for you. You reluctantly accept on the condition that it might be reasonably profitable, but soon find yourself tied up in an apocalyptic prophecy and to keep your hide intact, you're forced to play along.
The plot is reasonably intricate for a game of this scale and it contains enough twists and turns that you don't end up guessing the climax halfway through. Ion Storm was always known for their complex and intelligently written themes. This one doesn't disappoint.
SOUND-4 Stars Stephen Russel reprises his role for the voice acting of Garrett. I personally doubt they could've found a better candidate. The pitch and timber of his voice PERFECTLY convey the attitude of someone who wants to keep out of the public eye.
The voice acting of the others they hired on to do the supporting parts are also of very high quality, although there is one guard I can't help but laugh at when he talks in his "Duh... Which way did he go, George?" manner (you'll know which one I'm talking about when you play the game). His prose reminds me of my days working with the inbred idiots I used to at my old lumber yard job. The music score and the ambient sound effects set the mood without fault. The score is not typically classical but it does convey a feeling that might be best described as 'post-contemporary medieval'. Along with the local light sources, sound in this game is directly relevant to your ability to remain undetected. A metal grate is going to be a lot louder when your shoes slap against it than that soft patch of gravel. This game is masterful in pushing you to take notice of your surroundings at all times. You ARE a thief, after all.
The one reason I give this section 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a glitch that causes the sound to cut out at times, usually at the least opportune moment. It can be incredibly frustrating when you try to break out of prison (especially when it's pretty much ALL metal surfacing) and not be able to hear the jailers coming around the corner AND you're working hard trying to reclaim the gear they've confiscated from you, so you have no weapons to defend yourself with.
GRAPHICS-5 Stars This was one of the first games to employ dynamic lighting and shadows as part of its visual repertoire. Fires cast flickering shadows across you and anything else next to you. The color palette is rather subdued but I'm thinking the designers made it that way to emphasize the nocturnal atmosphere. The artwork is pretty much high quality throughout and runs close to the limits of the console's capabilities (the xbox contains one 733 megahertz processor, 64 megs of DDR SDRAM, a 16 megabyte Nvidia video card with an 8 gigabyte capacity hard drive; all of the games played on it have been optimized with its shortcomings in mind). There is very little drop in the framerate, even when you have multiple enemies closing in on you. The only time I had any problems on that front is when I stashed all of the bodies in a particular area in one hiding spot. The processor had one HELL of a time trying to animate them all when they were piled on top of one another. Still, Thief: Deadly Shadows does its job well in immersing you in the fantasy backdrop the game is set in and keeping you there.
REPLAY-3 Stars There IS a lot to do in this game. However, it's only set up in a single-player format and after a while, the areas of the city become pretty recognizable. I can understand the other's reviews that stated this game is good for a single walkthrough, so I guess that any replay stems from whether you're the type of person who plays through a game once and gives it away or can only watch a movie a single time through before becoming bored with it, or if you're someone who gets something new each time you repeat a given task. I'm in the latter category. I've played the game through six times because I have a good time just running around the different areas and exploring. I guess you could see how Thief would play out if you chose not to make friends after all with the two factions for a little extra challenge.
OVERALL-5 Stars I miss Ion Storm and the games they produced because they were not simple games. They were rather complicated, but they were written intelligently with no consideration of 'dumbing' them down for a lazy audience who is only interested in push-button shooters that are 100% action and 0% substance. Their games made you think. Thief: Deadly Shadows follows true to form, and for that, I give it two thumbs up.
If Warren Spector ever decides to re-up the team and start producing again, all I have to say is, if you keep makin' 'em, I'll keep buyin' 'em.
Peace.』
(Pleasent in the Shadows) 『This is a very nice game.I never did play the others parts in this series, however it has great char. animation, graphics, level disign, theme, story plot(Good writer(s))and great entertaining voice acting.Thief:Deadly shadows is one of those rare gems of a game, even with a nice lil' tit(titorial) of it's own, easy controls, camera angle leaves something to be desired.I played this 2 or 3 times thru back in 2004.No not because of actual replay value(which is something that is left to be desired),though the game was enjoyable enough to play thru a time or two.All that said,Thief:Deadly Shadows is deffinatly VERY memorable.Sad thing tho for a desire for more replay value in some way other then being a good solid game.Maybe in the next one they should put unlockable items to be had,and purchase with all the coin you obtain.Over all I give this game a 4 1/2 star rating, cause nothings perfect and this site allows only 4 or 5 star,no 1/2 stars.See you next review! ~Dlwynndnn (Del-win-dune)』
(Take an old timer's word for it...) 『I started playing this series way back when it first came out for windows 95 (I believe it was 1997). I got completely sucked into it and quickly went out to buy it's sequel, the metal age, when it was released. So as an ademate fan, you can imagine my joy to finding that they had finally made a third and, better, made it for Xbox (I like a remote much better than a keyboard). The first two plots were addictive and exciting, nevermind the patience and the stealth you were required to have as this game is mentally active more so than physical action. But I assure you, not boring in the slightest. The plots the first two carried were amazing and imaginative so you can understand my expectations going into the third one.
My point: the best of the three! And probably because I have played them all and know all the background of our friend Garrett.
Now, I have come to realize the difference of graphics in games and all that technical stuff, but, first and foremost, for me to enjoy a game, it must be a good concept and a good story line. An empty game is just that to me. The plot of this game is rich and full and not to mention, down right a shocker at times. Bravo to the writers.
To all the newcomers; I encourage you to go out and find copies of the first two as your opinion of this one will indeed increase, no matter the old graphics, they are still enjoyable.
To all those old fans like myself; Wow, wow, wow! I was not disappointed in the least! And how about the ending? Was it not perfect!?』
(Best AI to ever been put in a game =)) 『I bought this game after my parents said I couldn't get Splinter cell. First off, this game should not be rated Mature. The blood in it is a quick splatter here and there, so quick, I doubt many people would know it was there. So with that done, i'll get to the actual review. This game uses plain old sneaking tactics and pure luck. The only real problem I encountered was that the game wouldn't let me save. It may have been because I got the game used, but i may never know. The game is easy to learn and even more fun to master. As i said before, this game should not be rated M, It, in my opinion, is perfect for people 13+. Thier are unique weapons i have never seen, or will, see in other games. One such weapon, is the Water arrow used to put out torches and the moss arrow is used to make metal quieter to walk on, or just to bug guards with. This game in a nutshell is plain old sneaky fun. It is less violent than splinter cell and much funner ( I know its not a word). The last thing I have to say is about the AI. It is the best i have ever seen in a game. I was playing and overheard two people talking, having an intelligent conversation. I put out the light to knock out the guard, and the said ''The light went out. How strange''. It is amazing. So if you buy this game, which I don't see why you wouldn't, try to get it new so you can save your game.』 『MODEL- 20014EID VENDOR- EIDOS FEATURES- Thief: Deadly Shadows You are Garrett the master thief. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (ehh) 『The graphics look like they are from Playstation 1. The combat system amounts to a whole lot of button mashing. The camera angles are really annoying. For some ridiculous reason the game designers thought they needed to show you where all the enemies are just before you get to them.』
(NOT backward compatible for Xbox 360) 『Fun multiplayer game with a great mix of heroes and villains to choose from. I had played it on PS2 a few years back and bought it again recently to play with my boyfriend, since both of us are Marvel fans. My only major complaint is not backward compatible for Xbox 360. I hadn't had any problems with any of the previous original Xbox games I had bought to play on my Xbox 360, until I bought X-men Legends and Legends II. Niether games are backward compatible with Xbox 360. My 360 informed me to check Xbox.com/games for an updated list of playable original Xbox games, which hasn't been updated since November 2007. (X-Men Legend) 『I ordered the game for my son and his dad, they seem to be enjoying the game and it works well but I am concerned that my son was able to go onto the website and order the game using my information when he thought I had not ordered it. I have talked to him about not ordering anything without my permission, but what can I do so that no one else gets a hold of my information and uses it in the same fashion my son was able to?』
(Microsoft does it again!) 『Microsoft strikes again! Amazon had this game for $20 cheaper for X-Box than PS2... so I bought the X-Box version. What idiot wouldn't? Well as it turns out I'm the idiot! Microsoft has struck again, as this game is NOT and I repeat NOT supported on X-Box 360, which is probably why it's so much cheaper than the PS2 version on this fine site. My 360 informed me to check Microsoft's site for an update list of playable X-Box games... which hasn't been updated since November 2007.
Bill Gates... you owe me $8.』
(Fun) 『Lots of fun. Lots of Menu time but lots of fun. I would say this is more fun than the first X-Men.』 『X-Men 2 takes everything the first one did wrong and either fixes or scraps it, and then takes everything the first one did right and makes it better! Now, I'm a huge fan of the first one, so I didn't really think there was much wrong with it, but X-Men 2 is so much better!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Call of Cthulhu) 『A great underlying story. Even though this is an older game - it retains the characters and settings that make these games fun to play』
(i've played better, i've played worse) 『i'm a huge lovecraft fan, so when i first played this i was pretty excited. unfortunately, this isn't very scary as it is annoying hard at some points. not in a fun way either, but in a have to play it again and again and again cause you keep making a stupid mistake cause it's not that well made of a game. the controls are alright, but the maps are pretty much garbage, and the worst part of this game is that guys you've killed just regenerate when you go further into the level, which means if you have to go back you've got to kill them again. sometimes that's alright...like in donkey kong country, not something like this.』
(I am Not A Fan Of 1st Person players) 『So far, that i am into it. I do not like the fact that it is 1st person. I find it very annoying. But the effects are creepy, and cool. Love the vibrations. Storyline is cool, and mysterious. But overall disappointed by 1st person character player.』
(great survival game) 『For the price it is a great survival and adventure game.Plays well on xbox 360 too.』
(All that's going for this game is its Lovecraft roots.) 『I saw an ad for this game in an old issue of Game Informer. They advertised First Person action, insanity meter, and of course Cthulhu. I was thinking Doom when I read First Person, Eternal Darkness when I read insanity meter, and "Thank the gods, they finally made a H.P. Lovecraft game!" when I saw the title. All right, turns out to be 2 strikes and one ball. The first person action, well there really isn't any. You spend most of your time running away from creepy villagers, and not in the fun way like in RE4. The insanity meter is pretty bad, no mind-blowing hallucinations like in Eternal Darkness, just a bunch of pounding and blurred vision. Their concept of going insane is my idea of a DWI stop. You really can't screw up the story of Cthulhu, so that bit was all right but done very sloppy. It was as if they had to change the storyline to make the game play better, but really they ruined up the only thing they had going from the start. The details are great and I have spoken with others who absolutely adore the game. A warning to those who aren't into H.P. Lovecraft, you will most likely hate this title. Imagine playing through Silent Hill without getting your first weapon until you're in the hospital. Sounds hard right, yeah well this game is ridiculous when it comes to survival.』 『Dark corners of the Earth is a first-person horror game that combines intense action and adventure elements. You will draw upon your skills in exploration, investigation, and combat while faced with the seemingly impossible task of battling evil incarnate.』
