Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(So this is what it's like to live a fantasy adventure)
『Rannek, a forlorn warrior with a haunted past, walks along a lonely path. He believes he is alone in the world and has nothing to live for. A dragon's shadow passes overhead. Are those orcs he hears stalking him? There is a cry for help.

Without even a moment to consider the danger, sword drawn, Rannek thrusts himself into a battle for which he is destined.

Thus began one of the best written video games I've ever seen.

Yeah, it's short. Seems that every bad review out there has this as their top complaint. You can finish the game in 5 to 10 hours. (Probably 10 unless you are good at this sort of game.) Since this game was originally sold for half the price of other games, I failed to see the point of this criticism back then, since "short" is meaningless except in the context of how much you get for your dollar. Now that you can buy the game used for a few bucks, this criticism is entirely meaningless. Even the worst reviews of this game admit it's got good graphics, nice action, and an interesting story. But they just couldn't see past the short play time -- which never did turn out to be an issue. Heck, you'll probably want to replay the game more than once.

The other main complaint about this game is it's lack of multiplayer. Okay, that would have been awesome. But isn't that a bit like complaining that High Noon just isn't a very good Sci Fi movie?

This game is what it is. It's hands down the single best example of how to integrate narrative with action game play and RPG elements. (There are plenty of places where the narrative was ill adapted to multiplayer, so the choice to be single player only isn't merely an oversight.)

This is a living breathing world populated with believable and sympathetic characters. Not a word of dialog is wasted. By the time I was done, I felt like I knew the characters and cared for them. I felt more connection to Rannek, Zhai, and Illius then I ever did for the characters of my favorite RPGs. And this was with only 5 hours of game play! Oh my gosh, the game industry needs to hire the writer(s) and let him (them) do something of some length. This is no small feat we are talking about and it's sad that people "didn't get it."

Many of the levels are just breath taking. I know, I know, graphics don't matter. Oh, except that they do. And this is on an old style x-box and ps2, no less. It still puts many xbox 360 and ps3 titles to shame.

But it's not really the graphics that mattered so much as how they integrated so well with the world, the action, and the narrative. For example, my heart stopped beating when I realized the "cutscene" dragon -- that looked so real -- was attacking me. He transitioned from "cutscene" to "boss" seemlessly. And the digital actors show real emotion. Moments like this kept happening.

And the game has real emotional impact that is so often lacking in games. I nearly got up and cheered when Drizzt entered the fray. (Then I realized I was controlling him!) But that was nothing to all the other poignant moments where the characters shows us what they are made of and display what's in their hearts through their actions. I still remember the moment where Rannek finally gives a nod to Zhai as they decide to help Drizzt fight and the music swells as the leap from the wall into battle. I truly felt Rannek's anger as my own at the trolls who had destroyed his town -- and I felt true companionship for his friends helping him come to terms with his past.

And who could forget the moment where Rannek decides to take up the silver sword -- and to seize control of his life and take responsibility for his actions.

And I loved the ironic ending where Ygorl (ably performed by Michael Clarke Duncan) realizes that he sowed the seeds of his own destruction.

Do yourself a favor and buy this game. If you don't like it as much as I did, don't worry, you can always sell it used for basically the price you bought it for, so this is risk free people. But don't be surprised if you end up keeping this one for the collection.』

(YAWN -- Yet ANOTHER Hack and Slash)
『While I will agree that the graphics in this game are pretty good, overall the game was boring and I felt it left a lot to be desired. The only thing I found similar to any form of D&D was that the setting was in the Forgottem Realms and the "Good-Guy-Mentor" was Kelban Blackstaff (a character actually from the Forgotten Realms). Other than that it was nothing like playing D&D and I felt more like I was playing Guantlet, which gets boring after the first 10 minutes of killing things off. If you're looking for a roleplaying experience this isn't it. The game should be reclassed from "role-playing" to adventure.』

(A Big Disappointment)
『As a long-time fan of the Forgotten Realms, I was eagerly awaiting this game. The visuals looked absolutely stunning, and the fact that R.A. Salvatore wrote the plot seemed to lend the game a good deal of credibility.

Unfortunately, Demon Stone is quite disappointing. The visuals ARE stunning, I've got to give Atari that, and the fight moves are wonderfully choreographed.

However, there are serious gameplay issues. For one, as the previous reviewer mentioned, the lack of a multiplayer option is bizarre considering that, with three characters, the game is practically begging for team play. This is even more of a shame since the AI for the two characters you are not currently playing isn't very impressive--there are many cases where the character you control is madly attacking and the other two kind of sit there until something wanders in range. Second, I found the forced perspective absolutely infuriating. Rather than going for the bird's eye view like previous such games (D&D Heroes, Dark Alliance, etc), Demon Stone has a shifting perspective depending on where your character stands. Sometimes the view is long, sometimes very short, and sometimes the "camera" actually sits in the middle of the available ground. This means that you are forced to fight enemies who are actually off-screen, or that your entire view can be blocked by your own charactert (or even, *groan*, by an AI-controlled character). A third-person camera would be wonderful, if only you were able to control it yourself instead of being pinned to a single, often very frustrating, perspective.

Gameplay aside, even the game design is a little lacking. Levels are relatively short, so the game is over more quickly than I would like. They are also extremely linear, mostly lacking hidden areas, sub-quests, or the ability to explore. The characters advance in terms of greater equipment and abilities, but for the most part these minimally change the game experience. For example, Illius gains new spells throughout the game, but you basically have three choices: attack, protect, incapacitate. Despite using spectacular D&D spell titles (power word kill, meteor swarm, cone of cold), his ranged attack is still basically a dart he shoots out of his staff, affecting only one enemy. Finally--and its possible this is just a personal thing--I found that many levels have a situation in which the heroes are trapped and must accomplish their mission under pressure. For example, in the Underdark level you must battle githyanki warriors at the same time as you fire at their wizards so that you can break down an ice wall. It sounds kind of exciting, and for a few minutes it is. But these kinds of "get past the obstacle through a never-ending stream of enemies" is really just tedious, especially when some of the enemies (wizards) continually work to repair the wall. Few games are made better by those kinds of battles, and Demon Stone seems to use them quite often.

As a last note, I wanted to comment on the game's faithfulness to the Forgotten Realms. Caveat: Honestly, this didn't impact my enjoyment of the game at all, and it probably wouldn't for the vast majority of gamers. Its really just the satisfaction of seeing whether the developers get it right. Sadly, Atari's score here is moderate at best. For example, they seem to place Nesme in the Galena Mountains rather than near the Spine of the World (a few thousand miles apart; see the manual p. 18). The geography is similarly confused for Zhai. Some of the visuals are a little off as well. Khelben Arunsun, Demon Stone's "narrator," looks more like a medieval dutch burgher than the many drawings that been done of him; and his tower is inexplicably located in the middle of the wilderness, rather than in the center of the Metropolis Waterdeep. Drizzt's inclusion in the game is a nice touch, but even there some of the details are innacurate: Drizzt's scimitar's (referenced by name in the game manual, so the guys have done some research) magically bristle with flame, and the battlerager Thibbledorf Pwent, rather than impaling and shaking his enemies to pieces, single-handedly fixes the gate winch?!

I really tried to like Demon Stone, and but for the gameplay issues I still would have enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the weirdly shifting perspective, the lack of other players to enjoy the game with (which has always been the strength of other D&D games), and the proliferation of certan tedious scenes killd my enthusiasm quite early. To anyone interested in Demon Stone, I would recommend instead that you go out and buy Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.』

(Good but could be better)
『This game is decent but a big dissapointment because it is made by the developers of the two towers game. I will start with the hits.

this game has the third person veiw and not the stupied overhead of dark alliance of D&D heros. this game has good graphics and an interesting storyline. each character has there own abillities which you use at diffrent times.

now the misses. My biggest problem is that there is NO MULTIPLAYER!! what the heck where they thinking?? Anotherthing is that even though the story line is interesting it gets a little odd at times. The characters dont really carry on conversations. for example here is one. they go into this cave which they think is abandoned and then they find out its not and the knight says "I thought this place was abandonded" and then the wizard goes "(someone} is activating the portal we havent muvh time" and then the girl goes "its dark down here...i like it." that does not sound like a conversation to me. Also your team members dont help you. you will be trying to hit these archers ect. with illius and enemies will be attacking you and your team members will be off in some corner alone. and even though the camera is close up you cant control it so you cant see whats behind or on the side of you, and sometimes it will be zoomed in on these two bad guys fighting far away so you can barely see your person. and finally i wish you could travel to the next destination instead of just appearing there. and i wish you could explore villages ect. if you want a better game thats multiplayer get king auther or if you want a singel player get fable. this game is fun but dissapointing.』

(Baldurs Gate meets LOTR 2 towers)
『I bought this today, and been playing it, and I seem to be enjoying it very much.
This game combines both the graphics (graphics for this game are better although) and hack n slash game play of the LOTR 2 Towers game. Then combines it with the story of Baldurs Gate and The Forgotten Realms world.
Another way to think of this game is Baldurs Gate up close 3rd person view, instead of the over head view that made everyting in the 2 Baldurs Gate games look small.
If you enjoyed the Baldurs Gate games and the LOTR games, this is a must have game. The story is written than none other R. A. Salvatore himself!』

『Within this awe inspiring DUNGEONS&DRAGONS world a fighting saga begins. Control a party of three a fighter a sorcerer and a rogue in a quest to right a wrong and shape the future. Switch characters on the fly to exploit each warrior s specialized fighting styles (projectile/ranged melee and sneak combat) and maximize each character s attributes. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Not for me... a 45 year old gamers review.)
『I purchased this game for my new xbox... and as a 45 year old man, this game is way too hard to play. I am looking to relax and need something simple. Too many commands. I am sure the game is great but it was just too complicated for me to enjoy.』

(Game)
『My husband and son like this game alot. Just wished more than 1 player can play it at a time.』

(One of the better Xbox games)
『Don't know why it's taken me so long to do a review on this particular game, but here goes:

Whilst there are issues with the AI and issuing commands to your team members, overall this is a great game.

It's not the same tactical shooter that some of the previous Rainbow Six games have been, but graphically it is one of the great Xbox games.

This is a great game for those who just want to get in and start shooting and blowing things up, the tactical part can be thin in many areas, but a few areas lend themselves to good planning and execution.

I've played the game through two times, but never finished it. The last mission is the only one I didn't like.

*minor spoiler alert*

The final mission seems to me to be more of something I would expect to find in Splinter Cell rather than a tactical shooter and doesn't do it as well as Splinter Cell.

Overall this is one of the better games on Xbox and is highly recommended.』

(Beautiful tactical shooter)
『A lot like Ubi's other tactical shooter franchise (Ghost Recon) except for whatever reason, they employ native voice actors throughout this franchise's history (they also sound French or German in this one)...goofy. "Roger...Open UND clear" Playable on the 360. If you have Vegas, give it a try, it ain't bad.』

(Action/Strategy minus the strategy)
『This game is extremely linear.

Clear out a room, move to the next, kill people, move to the next. Occasionally rescue a hostage that has very poor AI and likes to get shot, or defuse a bomb that is in a room previously filled with very stupid terrorists.

The obstacles are static, the enemies are always in the same place, and the only 'strategy' involved is the fact that you can only save twice per level. Talk about realistic, I bet lots of military people wish THEY had a save and a load function (you don't get to save in game in the original Rainbow Six games, which is a good thing). Oh well.

In one level, after clearing your way to a hostage, making as much noise as you like with no repercussions, you take the hostage, who you cannot tell to NOT follow you, to a very large open area. In this area there is another stupid hostage and the only way to move them around is to actually walk into them and push them (a grueling process). You have to wait in this large open area until an evac comes.

Here's a smart idea, let's sit in a big open area while terrorists come at us from every angle while we wait for a helicopter...when we could just go back the way we came, since our cars are outside. The sarcasm should be obvious.

I'm not even going to talk about the next level, which is worse. There are no choices in this game, other than that of weapons, and there is no strategy. I would recommend Rainbow Six (original) for PC, as well as Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear. These games allow you to choose your team(s) of up to 8 men and women, from snipers to demolition experts, to scouts, and designate them on 1 to 4 teams.

In Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, there is a very detailed plannig phase, where you have a 3D blueprint of your next mission's location, and you can set the path for your teams to follow, via waypoints. There is also a great multiplayer system, where you can compete, or you can co-operate and play the any part of the campaign.

Long story short: Rainbow Six 3 is crap, and I'd think Tom Clancy would be ashamed to have his name on it. The original is greater by far, as is Rogue Spear. As well, as with any first person shooter, the PC version is better.』

『In Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, you are freedom's answer to fear -- the leader of Team Rainbow, the most elite counter-terrorism force on Earth!』
『Team Rainbow faces the hidden global forces of a new and secretive foe; command Rainbow in a race against time in locations around the world.』

(Looking forward to the third installment)
『haven't played the game all that much. i'm hooked on COD4 so it was hard to switch over to play this one. the game play is much different. i would say the weapons are very realistic as far as breathing and trying to shoot steady, but the graphics and game play are lacking compared to COD. however i hear the third one that is coming out soon will be very competitive with todays top 1st person shooters.』

(A Must Have!!!!!)
『This is an awsome game. You progress thru the lvls. earning rank and the ability to customize your own M4 carbine with various items, like granade launchers and bi-pods to cotrol your aim. This is is very realistic and you wont beat it in a week, then never play it again. I recommend this to anyone that is even considering join the military.』

(pretty fustrating)
『as said before there are a lot of glitches. It seems that the enemy has a tendency to always shoot at you, and your teammates hgardly ever actually take anyone out unless they're the grenadier with the M203.There are also glitches where if you stand at the wrong place your character will get stuck and you cant move anywhere. Also, you can's save where you want, so you might have worked on a mission for half an hour, then one of your teammmates gets killed, and you have to start at the last checkpoint, which could be 20 minuutes of gameplay behind. Also, some missions are almost impossible. I haven't been able to solve this one mission, I've probably tried 20-30 times and atleast 3 hours on this one mission but I just can't get it. Eithere I get killed, or I'm really close to beating it and one of my men decides to stand up when there are enemies shooting at us and gets himself killed, and I have to go back and play another 20 mins. before I get to that same point and someone gets killed again.
Overall: There are good graphics, but the bugs make it really, really fustrating. If you're prepared to spend a lot of time trying to beat the missions and advance, go ahead and get it, but if you don't like working on the same mission several times don't get it.』

『I spent 12 years in the Army and this is a very true to life in training and weapons functions.A great game!!』

(Ubisoft disappointment)
『My introduction to Ubisoft games were the Brothers in Arms series. Since I enjoyed these, I thought I'd try America's Army. Nicholas and Kirstein are correct regarding the bugs in America's Army, and Ubisoft greatly disappointed. Success in each mission is dependent upon your fire team succeeding. However, your fireteam often fails to engage the enemy, even at point blank range. Trying to shoot the bad guy without killing your team member becomes problematic. The bad guys often shoot through your friendly to hit you! If too many squad members become casualties, you fail. Too many hits yourself, you fail. Team members will often push your player after you have found cover, forcing you into enemy fire. If you push them aside to regain your position, they'll walk into enemy fire. But, you can't let them have a good position, because your team members will not effectively engage the enemy and you'll be overrun. Enemy can often kill you even if you're behind cover. Since on the XBox version there aren't many save points, you're left repeating the same radio traffic script ad nauseum before you can try over. The game is really more about the shooting than anything else. This seems kind of odd, since the sights can be aligned on an enemy and you can crank 40 rounds into him an miss! Ubisoft designers should probably fire some real weapons before they design their next shooter game. I tossed the game.』
『America's Army: Rise of a Soldier offers the most true-to-life Army experience, allowing you to create a soldier and take him through the thrills and adventure of an army career. Intense single-player missions and high-adrenaline multiplayer action build the skills of your soldier and advance him through his career.』

(Not backward compatible with Xbox 360)
『Fun multiplayer game. I had played it on PS2 a few years back and bought it again recently to play with my boyfriend, since both of us are Marvel fans.
My only major complaints are that the game felt short and that it is not backward compatible for Xbox 360.When I put the disc in my 360, it informed me to check Xbox.com/games for an updated list of playable original Xbox games, which hasn't been updated since November 2007. I doubt they ever will update it or make more original Xbox games backward compatible. Next time I buy an original Xbox game, it will have to be one of the following backward compatible games:

(A great idea but lackluster execution)
『X-Men Legends began with a great concept - take the most popular X-Men and let a group of up to 4 friends pick their favorites and go on a smashfest while engaging them in a comic-esque story. The concept was a good one, and as far as smashfests go, it's pretty fun. Unfortunately, a lot of little things combine to make the game frustrating.

First off, the ally AI sucks - several times a game your ally will walk off a cliff. In-game pauses don't actually pause the game sometimes, like if you're flying over a crevice - which expends energy - and the game brings up a dialogue box, your character continues to spend energy, and if they run out ... well, I hope you saved your game. Also, character levels max out at 45 (why not 99? ask the developers), which would be fine if 45 points would max out your skills ... but they don't. And since bonus skill points are rare - only one that I've come across without help - it's impossible to completely max out anyone. And since each character only has three skills - only two attacks and a boost - in addition to attribute bonuses and the super attack (which you have to actually unlock), people who like to train their characters will be sorely disappointed. Also, some of the boss fights get way too busy on screen - the one against Magneto is particularly bad, and it's hard to keep track of who you're actually beating up.

On the plus side, I love the levels in this game - with one exception they're all unique and unrepetitive (with one exception, but there's a good reason for it). While the staples like Cyclops and Wolverine are there, I love the inclusion of some lesser-known characters like Magma, who is the central character in the story and is awesome once she's playable.

Overall, XML laid a good framework for the Marvel franchise, but the game is clearly a beta test. XML II and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance fully realized the vision, and players will most likely want to steer clear of this title and go for one of those instead.』

(My son loves it)
『I got this for my son for christmas. He loves wolverine so he plays it all the time.』

(Great Game! I recommened this game!)
『This is a fantastic game! The graphics are comic-book like and the story is amazing. If you are a X-Men fan you should really get this game. You can explore the mansion, throw bad guys off buildings, and trip giant robots. It is a fun game and it really gets you stuck on it. The peoples powers are amazing- Use storm to throw bad guys in a tornado! There are many ways to kill guys like cornering them and beating them, zapping them, freezing them, punching them, and throwing them

I highly recommend this game!!!!』

(Horrible level design, frustrating gameplay, incredibly difficult)
『I played this game for 4-5 hours with my 8-year old son and it was unbelievably frustrating. I've never played a game before with such horribly designed levels, where you fight your way through hordes of bad guys for 2 hours only to find yourself facing a bridge and the WRONG X-Man character to get across it, so you have to start all over at a long-gone save where that particular character is still alive, and someone manage to keep him/her alive long enough to reach the bridge. The camera view is horrible, so that you can only see about 10 feet in front of your characters. There is no way to heal your most vulnerable characters because there are woefully few health drops. The A.I. controlled X-men characters are so freaking stupid that they'll walk right off a cliff and die, which means you have to constantly switch from your favorite char to one of the idiot A.I. chars to get them in the right place, and they constantly get stuck and are too stupid to jump over little obstacles to keep up with you. This game is fun when it works, which is only really when you're playing solo or 2-player co-op, when you don't have to deal with the stupid A.I. Overally, I became so frustrated and angry while playing this game that I had to shut it off. Only an X-men fan would give this a 5-star rating because the game levels are a confusing mess, the A.I. is stupid, there are no clues for solving puzzles (like crossing damaged bridges), and you have to use a specific X-men character to solve certain parts of the game, with no warning in advance, and that char probably will die before you reach it. Horrible, horrible game. The only game I've played that's worse than this is TMNT for Xbox, and I play about 100 games per year.

『X-Men Legends is the first role-player game that stars the world-famous superhero team known as the X-Men. Earth is facing total destruction at the hands of Magneto, and you'll lead a team of mutant heroes to stop him. Working together, the X-Men will use their unique skills to combat evil and determine the fate of mankind. Face each battle with teamwork and courage, because failure here means the end of the world. Also includes skirmish mode for head-to-head combat』

(Great)
『My kids made me buy this with their allowance and they seem happy with it.』

(SICK)
『This is a totally wicked and sick game.Go with Tony Hawk,Bam Margera,Rodney Mullen,Mike Vallely and More.Or create your own character. Theres Tonys team and Bams Team.Your on world destruction tour. Both teams doing wicked stunts to rack up major points.Go to places like Boston,Barcelona,Germany,Sk8 topia, and more. Over all i think this is the sickest game I have ever played!!!!!!!!!!!!!!』

(its been done before)
『Alright, This Game was easy as all hell to beat, it took me at least 2 days to beat it, and i didnt even play it for that long on them day's....like 2 hours each....so it took me 4 hours to beat, it was an alright game, there were some fun places to skate at in it, and there were some retarded places, after you beat it there this one place, and its like in space or some bullsh*t like that...retarded, you can create players and make them look cool, and ive made a few and it wasnt bad....
overall, it wasnt the worst game, but it's not like anyone hasnt played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1,2,3,4 and Tony Hawk Undergound before...』

(For Kids or Not?)
『Ok, Ok, we get it. Tony hawk is fun and good. The problem is, it's the same game it was 10 years ago. Sure this time there are some destruction elements and some new players and new places, but blah blah blah. Same old, same old. This is a near perfect port of the ps2. It looks great, it plays great, and if you like completing tasks, you keep this game forever. Or, you'll figure out that you wasting insane amounts of time to complete stupid mundane tasks in order to unlock another fascinating new level and many more stupid tasks. We should call it Tony Hawk's puzzle skateboarding, since after the initial coolness of the new world wares off, you spend all of your time solving the puzzle of completing the task.

Bottom Line: Is it fun? As fun as every other Tony game they release yearly. Will I keep it? Not for long. Nothing new here. Buy the game now if you love all Tony Hawk games. Is it for kids? Not to bad if your kids want to just skate around.

(Though it is not true skateboading, THUG 2 beats THUG by a mile)
『Ok THUG 2 is a well planned out, well thought out, and just plain fun game. I liked all the hidden characters you could be. I liked some of the crazy moves you could bust out (beaver blasting construction workers was a personal favorite). I liked watching Bam torment fellow skaters with some hillarios jokes. Just admit it, the game is very well done.............if it were a movie game for the movie "Jackass". This game was not at all true skateboarding which threw me off (though not entirely, having played the first THUG already) I expected more skateboarding and less idiotic stunts, and whose to say i was pleased? Very dissapointed, though the custom skater mode was top notch. But I expected more out of Neversoft when they pulled out this game, and i can only hope that Tony Hawk American Wastland wont belong in the dusty old garbage bin that the THUG games landed themselves in.』
『Tony Hawk's Underground ? now show your stuff on the World Destruction Tour in this sequel. Tony haschosen you to go on the tour and face off with Bam Margera as both teams compete. You'll take part in an insane road trip in a Story mode with an unprecedented level of customization and new moves. Get on the tour van and see if your skateboarding skills can stand up against Bam Margera. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 lets you join in the World Destruction Tour where there are no rules and no limits as you travel to international cities and prove yourself as the ultimate skateboarder. Create a unique style for your character with your own custom logo for use in graffiti tags, skate stickers and more in the Create-A-Graphic feature. Customize the game further with Create-A-Goal, Create-A-Park and Face in the Game features. Grab your board and beat Team Bam with your awesome skateboard moves.』

(You know what you're getting)
『Another small iteration over a game you played in 2001. EA is resting on their laurels. Is it a good game? Yes, I suppose so, but compared to other genres, NCAA and Madden are dragging their heels. I suppose it has to do with exclusivity deals that EA struck with the NFL, and since that technology undoubtedly trickles down to the NCAA game, you get mediocrity all around.

A little competition would help.』

(It's Nice I Like.)
『This game is very fun the recruiting in Dynasty mode is very fun as well as Campus Legend mode.』

(great football game)
『I'd been playing the 2005 version of this game and got to the point to where I could not be beat and rarely scored on. The first time I plyed this game on the regular settings I almost lost and knew I would enjoy the challenge of this game better. The game play is almost exactly the same with a few improvements that make it more of a challenge and funner to play as a result. And I love the cut-scenes whenever a big play is about to happen. I would reccomend this game to anyone who loves the thrill and excitement of college football.』

(Stop raining the hate on this game!)
『Admittedly, I just bought the game two weeks ago and so a lot of the reviews here were from the release week therefore I'm sure I have a different perspective...
That being said, this is THE best football game currently available for the Xbox. I am not a college football fan and yet I am incredibly drawn to this game. EA got the atmospherics perfect in this game.

As for improvements...I've only played with top ten teams, but so far the QBs completion rates are a bit off scale. If you play with a top ten team, you're able to complete 80-90% of your passes consistently. More importantly, there's a lot of graphical glitches where CLEARLY the coverage should have intercepted or knocked the ball away and the ball passes right through the defender's body on the way to a long reception.

As for other criticisms...To the guy who complained about the game not having player's names, first of all this is not something to be mad with EA about. As mentioned elsewhere, the NCAA does not permit profits being made on the names of current NCAA athletes. More importantly, the game includes an auto assign roster function which will assifgn names to the rosters. No, this isn't as cool as having the real names, but you could also create the real players if you wanted. It's a lot or work, no doubt. Even more importantly, by having the roster names be automatically assigned, I think it goes a long towards objectively evaluating talent. If #10 for Notre Dame reads Brady Quinn as opposed to John Smith, then I think you heap real life expectations onto virtual Brady. When Brady's name is John Smith, you look at his performances and make coaching and play calls situationally rather than on reputation. And that makes you a better player...

In closing, I highly recommend the Prima game guide. Very informative!』

『This is what happens when Companies have no competition

(The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers)
『This game has stood the test of time and is still a very fun and addictive hack-n-slash title. Based on the first and second part of Peter Jackson's wonderfully adapted and highly successful 'Lord of the Rings' motion picture trilogy, 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' is a well made breakthrough video game by EA Games. The storyline is cut and dry and relates fairly closely to what is seen in Jackson's films: anyone who has watched all three movies should know what to expect. The cutscenes are great! They are scenes that come directly from the live action motion pictures. The gameplay is excellent! It offers a lot of nonstop hack-n-slash action that will keep any gamer highly entertained. At times all of the hack-n-slash fighting can get a little repetetive, but that doesn't keep 'The Two Towers' from being the highly fun and addictive title that it is. The gameplay lasts around five to six hours maximum. Long enough for an action/adventure game such as this. You get to play as three different characters: Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Each character has their own unique fighting abilities. There is a character and level that you can unlock after you've successfully beaten the game with high skill points. The controls may be a little hard to use at first due to some intense button mashing, but its not as hard as it seems. It actually only took me about half an hour to get used to the controls the first time I played 'The Two Towers'. Once you get used to the controls, its not hard to figure out how to use each characters unique, special attack skills that devastate your enemies. The more your character upgrades, his skill level will increase: allowing them to have better and stronger abilities such as combo and melee attacks. Your character could upgrade slowly or quickly depending on how well you have them perform in battle. The graphics are very well done! You can tell a lot of care was taken into character detail. The a.i. in this game is beyond superb! While playing this game, I found that your own companions will sometimes help you fight a battle and surprisingly do a good job at it. And I learned that enemies won't just attack your character (like in other games), but also your companions as well. The sound fx is richly detailed in this game. It was done so well, the battles actually sound the way they should: weapons clinging together, soldiers shouting battle cries, orcs snarling, trolls roaring, and the sound of death by all, good or evil, who fall by an arrow or blade running through them. The voice acting was greatly performed by some of the cast members from director Peter Jackson's movie trilogy. The background music is from 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' Motion Picture Soundtrack composed by Howard Shore. It was perfect for this game! If you still play original Xbox games (as I do), like 'Lord of the Rings', and love games that deliver nonstop action and never get real boring, then EA's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' will not dissapoint. The sequel to this game, 'The Return of the King', is actually just as good, if not better, than this title.』

『Gave this as a gift and the kids still play them all the time. Im not a huge console game fan (I'm more of a PC FPS player) but my nephews love these and said to rate them four stars! I gave them the whole LOTR set along with the Hobbit.』

(A blast, great gameplay.)
『I ove being able to choose different characters and have special attacks. It challenging and fun. The controls are simple and the graphics are as good as one could expect. I really liked the cutscenes that were actually part of the movies.』

『This is the best game ever! You first start the game as Icealdor fighting
millions of Orcs and Goblins. After a couple minites the DARK LORD SAURON
will apear. Then you will notice Icealdor cutting SAURON in half. The saddest part in the game is that Icealdor refuses to destroy the ring
of evil. After SAURON is defeted you start going foward in time about
3000 years When the hobbit Frodo Baggins is given the ring so he can destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom. But the hobbit had one fear,
Naziguls. But help is near! And that is when you start the 2nd Level
as Aragorn saving Frodo`s [...] from the Ringrauth`s.I need to poop!』

(one of the best games on the planet)
『this game (...) rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!you can play it 3 times since you can take each character through the boards if you wish.the characters are the elf, dwarf and strider from the movie.as you advance levels you can get points for how effectively you killed the monsters.then you buy cool moves after each mission.an example move might be like "from a lying posistion spring up,swing hitting everyone in range then drive your sword into one guys guts killing him."its so cool!on some boards there are literaly hundreds of monsters coming after you.so all in all its like if someone took d and d,made mortal kombat like fighters with the characters then through them in to a star wars battlefront like situation.its totaly cool and definarely within the top 5 maybe 3 games ever invented!』

(Sandbox games rule.)
『The game designers here really hit the nail on the head on this one.
This is what I'm talking about. This truly is a great game.
Now these guys knew what they were doing. They got together a made a game that the people what. Not only that, but they even made add-ons for the player to get creative in the game like; creating all kinds of weapons in a surrounding environment. If you ask me, the more choices you have in a game , the better. Any game that is made in "sandbox mode" is an awesome game. I only wish they could have made the hulk do even more stuff like; swimming or digging, but all in all its an awesome game. Loved it.
Five stars from me. The game designers urned them.』

(Emphasis on "Destruction")
『I didn't realize the Hulk was a supervillain. Within the first half hour of play, I had caused enough death and destruction to make Lex Luthor cringe. But it was undeniably fun.

The game looks great in 720p HD, with sharp detail and brilliant color in its comic book inspired environment. Sound design is perfect, too, with grade A voice acting and stunning destructive sound effects. While it's clearly a cartoonish world, the landscape of Ultimate Destruction is just as immersive as any of the best open-world games.

The amount of environmental interactivity is amazing, with vehicles, bridges, and even skyscrapers placed under the Hulk's big green thumb. Certainly my favorite parts of the game were the epic boss battles, which more than made up for some of the mediocre story missions. While they appear to be massively overpowered behemoths at first, each can be surmounted with careful observation and prudent attacks. The boss battles are the kind of white-knuckled sweaty-palmed experience that action gamers dream of.

The only things preventing Ultimate Destruction from being pure joy are the spastic camera and excessive numbers of enemies allowed to attack the Hulk simultanteously. Picture a wildy swinging camera while ten helicopters barrage Hulk with disabling missile attacks, and you can imagine what a brutal mess some of the missions are.

The quality and quantity of attack moves is stunning. I enjoyed trying random button combinations just to see the spectacular animations, even though many attacks require such complicated button combos that they're useless in battle. I would have preferred a smaller, simpler, easier to master move set, but I know many action gamers enjoy the Street Fighter control philosophy.

I really appreciated my time spent with the Hulk, even though I'm not a comic book fan. I'm sure a dedicated Hulkophile will love the game all the more.』

(A CLASSIC OPEN-WORLD GAME 9.25 OUT OF 10)
『I've never been a fan of super heroes. I don't really understand the movies if I watch them and I don't really pay attention to what goes on. But for games I can appreciate them better, even if I only pay attention to Spiderman, The Punisher, and this guy, The Incredible Hulk when it comes to super hero games. I heard all of the praise and love for this game from other people so I decided to purchase it, and holy crap did it deliver. This game features a great selection of missions and hilarious side missions that can earn you smash points to buy more moves to unleash hell upon the citizens who reside in the city each stage takes place. The basic story is about Bruce Banner's quest to find a cure from the abomination that lies within him, all while being hunted by the military. When you're in the city you can toss cars, smash cars, blow up cars, throw innocent bystanders at police officers and soldiers, throw cows at different objects, destroy buildings, take out strike teams, destroy tanks, break down poles and use them as bats to hit citizens as if they were home runs, and do so many other wonderfully and gleefully violent destructive things because this game is so freaking cool! The only flaws to this game are dated graphics, some dumb AI, and not all the side missions are fun. But you will have a great time playing this awesome game even if you don't care about super heroes. In fact, there are some things in this game that I wish were in the Xbox 360 classic open-world title Crackdown because some of the mechanics from this game should be on that one as well. Don't ignore this game, it's way too awesome to miss out on.』

(AWESOME!)
『this game is fantastic! you smash stuff and just destroy cities. The missions is why its 4 stars but they are still good. Just playing around and smashing stuff, I can do that for hours!』

(HULK SMASH!!!!)
『This game is like most superhero games, in that it's a sandbox game, and while at first it's thrilling to smash things and feel like the Hulk, it gets boring. Luckily, the missions add some diversion, but like the sandbox structure, it gets repetitive. While I enjoy it simply to turn on and destroy, it's not one that I played the entire way. Recomended if you love the Hulk or smashing. Oh, and light years better than the last Hulk game.』

(Straight up ACTION)
『Hell yeah man, Max Payne 2. The original was ingenious in a simplistic way and Maxy Payne 2 brings back all of the good things, fixes the bad, and brings more things to the table. This game is awesome, definitely worth the $5 it cost buying it used from Amazon.

It's been 2 years since the events of the first game, Max has cleared his name and is now working as a detective for the NYPD. During a crime scene investigation he comes across Mona Sax, the girl from the first game he thought had died. They run into contracted killers dressed as 'cleaners', they must escape and find out who wants both of them dead.

The game started off a bit slower than the first, there's a lot more story this time around. The developer's tried to beef up the story to make the game a more complete package. I remember playing through this years ago and thinking it blew away the original, but this time around I didn't see it.... until it got to the point where Max and Mona are working together. It's almost as if the game decides you've had enough 'training' with easy kills and switches it up to some dope stuff. Max and Mona are at a construction site, running through an empty building but they're in different locations. There's a bunch of guys hiding behind pallets, boxes, pillars, and when you go in there guns blazing you just see stuff flying everywhere. The bullet time lasts much longer this time around in order to encourage you to get into the action. You also get to play as Mona at times, as well as be accompanied by her or other characters throughout the game.

When you activate the bullet time, the screen turns into a sepia tone and everything slows down except your aim. Imagine taking cover when you come across a room with 5 guys, you throw a grenade from behind cover, activate bullet time and rush in there mowing guys down with your uzis. Max is out in the open and has to reload so he extends his arms out and does a crouched 360 spin like in the Matrix, which helps avoid shots. Those that turned to run away are caught by the grenade blast. Nice.

The environments are much better this time around and you encounter more enemies which leads to more action. In this respect, Max Payne 2 is much better than the original. Still no puzzles, thank God, just pure action.

Gone are the dream sequences where you had to balance on a blood trail in a space of nothingness. I guess people complained enough. Instead, the dream sequences are back but you're simply running through a hospital. At one point you encounter a double of yourself who has been locked up and accused of murder. He pleads his case as he runs away from you.

"I've been FRAMED!"

hahaha! That's classic, the voice acting and story are the same as in Max Payne. I'm glad that I was buzzed for that one. The story got kind of involved with conspiracies from different characters from the first game, I found it hard to connect all the dots. The part of the story that made sense to me were the events there were currently happening. Regardless, the cut scenes with the story board illustrations were even better and gave the game personality. Max still has dope lines:

"I was compelled to give him back his gun.... one bullet at a time"

I can keep going off on the good things, there's plenty of health available, no shortage of guns and ammo, the quick-save feature guarantees you don't have to replay any area just because you died. It always feels like you're making progress and never felt like a chore playing it. When you beat the game, you unlock harder difficulties, the 'New York Minute' mode, and a survival mode where you have to stay alive while fighting endless enemies. It's dope. When you beat the game in the hardest setting, you'll get a different ending.

I can't end this without pointing this out: As the title indicates, this is the "Fall of Max Payne". Quickly you'll see why: he stopped being OTFABS. It's almost hard to believe. A lot of the perdition he gets himself into is because he's whipped. Most of the time I was in disbelief, "What the hell man, don't do that! You gotta be OTFABS! Ah, well no choice but to kill all these guys now." If he were to remain OTFABS the game would have ended in the first act. Max goes through perdition.』

(Kid at Heart!)
『Shipped within the dates specified. The person I purchased this game for had played it previously on PS. He is enjoying it on the XBox 360 now.』

(Part II of anything never good!!!)
『This is just another sad story of how another title of the same series often turns out to be bad. The story, by all means, is the most pathetic one I have ever heard of. They changed Mona Sax's appearance and her voice for obvious reasons (to appeal to male players of the game). That's all nice and good. But, that alone doesn't make a game great.

Max Payne I was great. Max Payne II is alright!!! The Graphics have improved greatly. I can admit that much. The game is more funny than the previous in that the bad guys say stupid things in the game that make you laugh. But, that's about it. Nothing else makes it more special than Max Payne I. This game does not portray as much violence as Max Payne I. But, it is still not a game for kids. No doubt about it. And the game cannot be played on a 64-bit PC. So, watch out!!!』

(Old but still fun)
『I have an xbox 360 and I have been buying older used titles to play. While the titles are older, they're new to me and heck if you buy them used through amazon they're cheaper than renting. I got both max payne and max payne 2 used and both worked beautifully. As to the games, both were great fun and very entertaining, the story pulls you along, and the action is non stop. While it is true that technically they are dated, they still have the goods...for both I paid approximatedly ten bucks which is cheaper than a movies ticket and popcorn and ended up having hours of fun being in my own detective movie. The dream sequences are a hoot, and the action keeps you on your toes. If you haven't played these titles, buy them used and give them a go. Then resell them to recoup your investment. You can't go wrong.』

(Well, they are successfully mimicking Hollywood...)
『...by producing dull paint-by-numbers sequels. The original Max Payne was inventive (with its bullet-time interludes and playable nightmare sequences) and moody (pulp comic storytelling and Noir York backdrops), and held my attention despite some pretty serious gameplay and difficulty balance flaws. Unfortunately Max Payne 2 has retained the flaws and added nothing new to the experience.

MP2 is still too easy with Bullet Time assistance, far too many health and ammo powerups, and an overall simple level of play. I'm just an average shooter player, but I breezed through it in a few hours. And maybe due to less inspired level structure than the first (warehouses...ughh), it felt shorter. The complex time-warped romance of MP2 is disorienting and silly, and by the halfway point I had been jerked around by so many false flashbacks and faked death scenes that I really couldn't care less if Mona lived or died.

Yes, the graphics are nice and the storyboarding and character expressions are more realistic, but it will take more depth and innovation to hold my interest in the Max Payne series.』

『Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne brings back the film-noir and gritty gaming of the popular anti-hero, Max Payne -- a good cop who turns his back on the law, and goes after revenge. Cinematic twists and turn as you uncover an incredible plot and uncover the secrets of Max Payne's past』
