Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not bad for an old western.) 『This is the only western game that I own and I have to say that it is well worth the time playing. There is nothing like riding horses out west, collecting bounties on somebodys head and doing the pony express missions. The story lines to the main missions are really well done. I can play this game from start to finish over and over again. I forgot to mention that there is plenty of blood in this game, something that you wouldn't see in a western movie. Once you are complete with every mission there really is nothing left to do, unless you want to shoot up a town to start a showdown which won't last very long. You are even left over with alot of money and once you buy every available item there is nothing left to buy not even a farm or a house.』
(what the heck) 『I have played and beaten this game a couple of times, and have to say it is a good shoot and run game. you have a story line to follow and a few good side missions to keep you busy. the story line is short I think and the side missions easy, but what I hate about this game is the fact that you are suppose to get certain items for finishing the side missions. well you get the items but not during the game. BUT AT THE END OF THE GAME. you get cool items like the cannon gun that shoot cannon balls, a horse that dosnt get tired or dosnt get killed, but like I said you get them at the end of the game. The game is over so you are rideing this new horse and shooting cannon balls at nothing no one to shoot at and nothing to do. and start a new game want help cant take the items with you. when you start a new game you start from scratch. so overall a good fun game but no extras.』
(fast and easy transaction!) 『We originally rented this game from a video store and our 2 boys LOVED playing it soooo much that we wanted to buy it for them. They have almost completed the whole game ALREADY! Thank you!』
(Very Fun Game) 『I had Trouble At The Begining But Flew Thro The Rest Of The Game Very Fun And Additing I Rate This Game With All 5 Stars』
(GTA: OLD WEST? 7.75 OUT OF 10) 『I don't like western movies. Mostly because they're boring and not very interesting to watch. The only western movie I actually liked was 3:10 To Yuma, it was an enjoyable movie that every moviegoer should see. Gun is one of the only western games ever made, and there are reasons for that (a.k.a. the porno game Custer's Revenge for Atari 2600). Gun seems to want to be GTA, except in the Old West, and it could have been a spectacular one if developer Neversoft had worked out some kinks in the design choices. Regardless, Gun is an enjoyable romp of a third-person shooter. It's no Resident Evil 4, Max Payne or Advent Rising, but it's fun. WHAT THE GAME IS: You take the role of a man named Colton who is seeking revenge for the murder of his father during a hectic gun battle on a steam boat. So he's hunting a psychotic man known as "The Preacher" and travels to many western towns in search of this man to kill him. GRAPHICS: This game still holds up pretty well for a game from 2005, but I have some gripes about the level designs because they're a bit boring and some of the towns in the game look too much alike. Overall though it looks pretty good, and it's loaded with gore. MUSIC: Fits the western theme nicely, and it doesn't suck either especially during the gun battles. SOUND: The voice-actors are actually pretty good, the way the guns sound seem accurate, and the explosions are a nice touch as well. GAMEPLAY: As I said before, this game is a third-person shooter, and it is a bit of first-person as well. You mostly spend your time shooting Indians to protect bridges, wagons, and towns from being destroyed. You also kill some bandits too. You can buy items on this game as well, and you money comes from completing missions and side-missions like hunting down a wanted fugitive or killing whole groups of bandits. The aiming seemed to be accurate, but it felt like there was some collision detection problems. You can kill enemies most of the time, but the detection is there at times. I loved how you can blow an enemy's head off with a well-placed shot. You can also scalp your enemies if they're still alive on the ground with your trusty knife. You build things like molotov cocktails and set things on fire like people, dogs, and horses. You spend a lot of your time riding horses and even complete some training on how to ride them. To recover your health you drink Whiskey with a simple press of up on the d-pad. You can even make horses trample people on the streets of western towns. You can sneak up behind someone and take them hostage or kill them. This game is loads of fun and there is a lot to do. After all these good things why only a 7.75? The missions are over too soon and some of the wanted missions feel too much alike. But the game does manage to make you forget these problems most of the time. OVERALL: It's worth a buy, and it's not very expensive either. So it won't kill you to try this game. THE GOOD: Lots of blood, lots weapons, lots of enemies to kill, interesting story, funny ways of recovering health, horse-riding is fun, good actors, tons of missions, good music, easy game, and good graphics. THE BAD: Missions are over too soon, some missions are too much alike, and some collision detection problems.』 『New and savage ways to punish - Stealthily sneak up and attack your enemies, use them as cover, stab, shoot, or scalp them. Blow your enemies away and watch the aftermath - Shoot guns out of enemy hands, or destroy them with dynamite. Multiple missions straight out of the Old West - Wage war on horseback, commandeer trains, protect whores, collect bounties, play poker, hunt buffalo, and more. Precision shooting, stealth tactics, use of explosives and missions that make you master gun slinging and horse riding. Authentic weapons including - Six shooters, shotguns, Gatling guns, flaming arrows, hatchets, dynamite, and more.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Hmmmm.....) 『I bought this game for PC right around the time it came out. I did not have an Xbox at the time. It was really fun on PC with lots of time to explore the castle, collect beans, play Quidditch, and trade beans for different items, not to mention learning magic.
I liked this game so much that when I got an Xbox 360 I decided to get this game for it as well.
I was very excited and the game was fun at first. It did have a recurring problem though, where the the picture moved very slow but the audio moved at regular speed. But it was really no big deal and I kept playing the game. The environment around the school was very cool and it was fun exploring the castle.
Then it started getting really challenging when you would sneak out at night or do a "Spell book challenge." Like many people have said before, the camera angles do not do anything to help you jump in the right direction. This led to falling off of a platform and losing all of the beans I might have been carrying. It was extremely frustrating. Also books, ghosts, and flying jars for some reason attack you, causing you to drop your beans. The fire crabs get extremely annoying too.
Overall I was not too impressed. At times it was fun but mostly just frustrating. To be honest, I would much rather play the game on PC. There is so much more to do and it is so much more fun.』
(harry's returns to hogwarts) 『the game was fun and good and the last battle I killed tom riddle and hermine is kind of cute』
(VERY, VERY, VERY dissapointing) 『This game is the worst game I have ever played! ok, so not as bad as Syberia for xbox but bad enough that I would rate it 2 stars! even though the storyline is ok, the game ended to quickly. Also, the battle scenes (Harry practicing his magic on the washing machine) was very fake and very boring. The washing machine moved in a pattern all the time so there was no surprise to what it would do next.
If you ever want to play this game, I suggest that you should be able to withstand the annoying save games (you can't allways save the game whenever you want). So go ahead and give it a try if you aren't afraid of wasting your money.』
(Extremely fun but too short) 『ok so basically when I bought this game I couldnt wait to play it. it was really addicting but then all of the sudden I was at the basilisk. all in all, its super fun but its too short. (the quidditch is my favorite part) I ended up beating it in 2 days. I was just disappointed. the voices in this game dont even resemble the real voices of the characters. ok so there's only 6 days and on each day you do 1 class except for like 1 day you do 2 classes. Iwould not recommend this game to people who like slightly challenging games. its cute for little kids but i give it one thumb up.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (EA thinks you're dumb) 『The beginning of From Russia With Love is a pretty indicative sign of the troubles to follow. It not only is incongruous with the story of either the movie or the remainder of the game, it's emabarrasingly easy and dull. I was struck by how restrictive and blocky the environment felt, and insulted by the bright red glowing ammo boxes and blue glowing armor vests. Have I grown stupid since my last Bond game? Do I need neon lights to point out power-ups? No, but I would have appreciated a more thoughtful attempt at this tribute to one of my favorite movies.
The worst crime EA committed was entirely misunderstanding the theme and pace of a classic Bond game. Challenge is presented through wave after wave of charging soldiers, each one as easy to mow down as the last. Exploration and discovery are nonexistent; the few sequences of varied gameplay are constricted to no more than pushing the A button (which alights on the screen for you) in proximity to a glowing onscreen "action" indicator. And the left trigger lock-on mechanic just emphasizes EA's inability to balance gameplay: every level is little more than running and repeatedly tapping the lock and fire triggers. The total lack of challenge in the gunplay evaporated my enthusiasm within the first two levels. This isn't James Bond, this is Sean Connery in "Die Hard". Yawn.
Speaking of Mr Connery, this vocal performance is pretty inexcusable, even for a 75 year old. He sounds less like our robust young hero than an old codger rushing through work just to grab a quick check and hit the Sizzler buffet. Though he may fancy himself as a guy who could still beat up Alex Trebek, the truth is that at this point Darrell Hammond is a better Sean Connery impersonator that Connery himself.
The sights and sounds of the game are impressive. A few of the movie's locales are re-created, and the developers generally did a solid job of conveying the atmosphere of the original sets. Watching the game over the shoulder of a player would give the impression of a fantastic world. Picking up the controller, however, reminds you what a dull and crushing path James must tread. Environments are tiny and heavily restricted, for example crates can be climbed using the action button, but only the ones which the developers deem necessary to advance movement. EA gave a half-hearted attempt at building an "upgradeable" weapons and gadgets system. The player earns "research points" by searching for information strewn thoughout the environment. These points can be used to upgrade your arsenal slightly, though I honestly couldnt see any benefits. And some flaw in the game prevented my from using "special" ammo on my weapons even after upgrade, leaving the excercise largely a waste. Idiotically, EA again used a glowing signal to mark each one of the valuable documents and drawers, completely rendering the search joyless.
I fully understand the need to expand and fabricate large portions of a film's story to build it into a video game. But the way EA butchered and bastardized the movie's plot is unacceptable. The chase scene in the Aston Martin is turned into an endless fragfest, with Bond exploding wave after wave of paper mache enemy cars. (Did I mention how cartoonish and awful the driving mechanics are?) And the climactic, terrifying fight scene in the train car is reduced to a dumb mid-game cutscene in a dining car, where Red Grant escapes and Bond is left to -surprise!- fight off wave after wave of generic henchmen. Grant reappears in what may be one of the dumbest, cheapest, cruelest boss fights I've ever endured.
If FRWL has one saving grace, it's the jetpack. The flying levels feel and sound like a jetpack should, and while little more than a button mashing fragfest like the rest of the game, it at least provides a sense of verticality and creative control that the rest of the game doesnt attempt. So in conclusion, if you love James Bond, Sean Connery, and the classic From Russia With Love...DON'T PLAY THIS GAME.
』
(This Game Is Fun) 『If you are a Bond fan that enjoyed Everything or Nothing needs to buy this game as well. The justice that was done to Pierce in EON, the same is done in this one, with improvements on things that were seen in the original game. The newest feature that is on this game is the "Bond focus" that allows you to zoom in on enemies and shoot bombs and radios on the enemy soldier's waist. The story is told, and stays true enough to the movie that all fans will want to play this. The gameplay is very much the same as EON, so that is why this game would probably appeal more to fans of that game. The sweetest part is that Sean Connery himself actually talks for Bond in the game. I used to think that they must have just took his voice from the movie, but Connery actually sat in the studio and did the voice! I couldn't believe it, and it sounds great as Connery gets to be Bond once again in his favorite 007 movie. Overall, you will love the game if you are a fan, especially if you liked Everything or Nothing. The look and feel is just something no fan will get tired of, I love it!』
(Eh) 『Honestly, EA promised a step up from their last third person action adventure, Everything or Nothing. Sadly, what you've got is a rudimentary action game with generic level design and uninspired gameplay. The gadgets are nifty, but I wouldn't say this has much substance. The game has a rather iffy multiplayer game to boot, something I hardly enjoyed with a third person 'fragfest' perspective. The game is relatively easy to breeze through, my save file took around 5 hours of playtime start to finish. For my money's worth, I'd give the nod to Everything or Nothing. As far as the continuation of the story is concerned (and the reprisal of Sean Connery as Bond), that's the only real reason why I bothered to play it. However, FRWL purists take note, some plot elements have been rewritten accordingly. Worth a rental, at most.』
(So much Love!) 『From Russia with Love marks Bond's fourth appearance on the Xbox since Agent under Fire. I'm happy to say Bond's latest outing is a much better game than Agent under Fire and Nightfire, which were both solid enough games. This only means that From Russia with Love is a very, very good game. I would rate it slightly below Everything or Nothing, Bond's 3rd game on the Xbox. This is simply because that game's graphics are a little better and I found there to be more diversity in the gameplay. However, like I said, From Russia with Love is a very sweet game. It offers you the ability to customize your Bond by upgrading his weapons, gadgets, clothes, etc. There is a vintage, retro feeling that comes with playing this game. I felt like I had been transported into the very movie of the same name, although the game offers much more action than the film, the locations are all the same, as is the basic story. Sean Connery's voice acting is a bit raspy but it is good enough, better than anyone else could have done. The action, graphics, sound, and gameplay are all high quality. I stongly recommend this title to any fan of Bond games. To action fans, I'd say rent. As far as action titles go you could do better. But for fans of Bond, this title is great.』
(There is no point besides killing people) 『There is a plot in this game but really all you have to do is go through all the rooms and kill everybody, and sometimes there are so many bad guys you wonder 'is there a website?' as you mow down 30 bad guys with a machine gun. i give it 2 stars instead of one for the graphics and the fact that you can upgrade your guns and equipment. i have lots of james bond games but this i dont really like becasue if you have tons of ammo with a machine gun you can beat any mission easy. although it is not like slaughtering the bad guys there are alot of ways to kill them from beating them up to shooting the grenade on there belt that will then fall off and blow up, you can gain wall cover and go into "bond focus" for pinpoint acuracy. 』 『James Bond 007: From Russia With Love will be the first game to put players in the universe of the classic James Bond films. Set in the original 60's Bond era, the game features movie-based missions as well as original, action-intensive sequences, a broad and deep variety of gameplay, fully-integrated vehicles, social multiplayer experiences, gorgeous women, and classic, upgradeable weapons and gadgetry with modern mechanics. Players will create and manipulate Bond in a living world based on the timeless fiction of the classic James Bond movie. Invest in your character and customize the ultimate Bond for a whole new level of gameplay options.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (If you still only have the original xbox, a "must-play".) 『Although "The Bard's Tale" was on the tail-end of the Xbox's prime, the storytelling of this sleeper RPG is a blast to play through and laugh along. Voiced by Cary Elwes (best known for his work in The Princess Bride, Robinhood: Men in Tights, Liar Liar, and Saw), you play as the very cynical bard and live a very adventurous life trying to rid the world of evil, all the while trying to make a buck and hook up with buxom damsels in distress. There dialogue itself is worthy reason to pick up this game, as the bard many times talks back to the narrator and mocks the very game he's in. When speaking to other characters in towns you are often presented with choices in dialogue routes (a la Mass Effect) and you can direct how you "choose your own adventure". My recommendation for this game is taking into consideration the date the game was released and the system it was originally made for-- it will not compare graphically to any game on the Xbox 360 and the game controls are sometimes a little limited as, like stated before, it was released for the original Xbox. It is, however, backwards compatible on the Xbox 360, so if you are curious or a oldschool PC Bard's Tale fanboy, it will play on your Xbox 360 with the help of a little automatic update when it gets to the menu screen. (NOTE: You must either have a backwards compatibility disc or have you Xbox 360 hooked up to an internet connection to receive this update.)』
(Fantastic) 『I really enjoyed this game, it was delivered on time and the seller was great in the products. Quick easy the way I like it.』
(Great Fun - Very Replayable) 『I remember playing the original Bard's Tale game - it was a game I loved and played for months and months. This new version features the brilliant acting of Cary Elwes of Priness Bride frame!
You get to create your bard character with the standard attributes - strength, dexterity and so on. But once you get into the game, you'll quickly discover the comic timing that makes this game so unique. You wander into a tavern and are promptly told to go search for rats. Your character asides that this is a rather cliche quest, but you'll do it for the (ahem) ample barmaid who smiles at you.
You head down into the dusty cellar, where you find your rat and slay him. Then, as you get your little scene of the Bard's Victory, a HUGE rat sneaks up behind you and breathes on you with a massive fire breath! When you hobble up to the tavern, everyone is laughing their fool heads off.
It's that sort of twist that makes the entire game hilarious, especially for RPG buffs. Every normal twist and turn of RPG campaigning is made fun of here. You are given the option of the "nice" or "naughty" option at every turn - and it's not always the "nice" option that you want to try! The game is very replayable, as you see what happens with various combinations of answers.
There's plenty of combinations of fighting, spellcasting, healing and so on - in traditional RPG fashion. I particularly like the wiggly little magic spiders myself, as they remind me of the Spirited Away anime. But really the wit is the key feature of this game. You fight through scenarios to get to hear what the witty comments will be at the end :)
Highly recommended for RPG fans - especially those who are fans of the Princess Bride style of dry wit!』
(It sure sucks to be the chosen one.) 『It sure sucks to be the chosen one.
The Bard's Tale for Xbox and PS2 is a new title in a very old gaming franchise. Before talking about the game directly, let me tell you a brief bit about the history of its genre.
Once upon a time (80's, 90's), you could've roughly split up computer and console role-playing games (RPGs) into two groups: Japanese RPGS and American RPGS. Japanese RPGs tended to focus strongly on a plot. The game mechanics were just a mechanism to move the story forth. Character advancement was not nearly as important as story advancement. Ask anyone who has ever played any Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior game and you will find this is true. Enjoyment of the tale the game presented was the main goal of Japanese RPGs.
American RPGs on the other hand tended to be very open adventures with a very heavy emphasis on exploration, character development, and game statistics in general. The `story' of these games worked more like a general game playing guideline than a strong dramatic plot. The stories presented would give you a rough idea of what needed to be done next, but would rarely push you into doing anything in particular until you really felt like unlocking some new area or getting some special item. Players would often run around the game world trying to build up their character statistics as high as possible. The emphasis of these games was enjoying the gameplay, not the story. Two series that were the hallmark of this type of game were Wizardry, and The Bard's Tale.
This trend has even continued into the new century. Just compare Morrowind to Final Fantasy X: an open book versus a staged Soap Opera. Both titles are good games, just very different.
The original Bard's Tale was a classic example of one these open, statistic driven American games. You created a party of characters using Dungeons and Dragons like statistics. Then you would run around a pseudo 3D dungeon, kill monsters, and collect treasure. After that, you would return to the inn to gain levels, heal your party members, and then repeat the whole process over again.
This new Bard's Tale eschews that type of design completely, opting for instead a Diablo type action RPG style of control and play. The menu based combat of old is replaced with good ol' hack and slash button mashing fun. You control a singular character from an overhead view, while partaking in multiple story and non-story related quests.
Another difference with this Bard's Tale is that it is a humorous game. Unlike the previous titles which had somewhat serious stories to follow, this game is a laugh all the way through. It parodies other games in the genre, picks on common elements such as killing rats, opening random treasure chests, chosen ones, and has a very witty script to back it up with. I found the Bard's dialog to be a constant source of amusement. The character you control and the games narrator often banter with each other, usually to humorous effect. This humorous script writing even shows up when you engage other characters in dialog. You are often give at least two response choices, a nice response, and a `snarky' response. You quickly find out being nice doesn't help you get what you want.
And, in another departure from traditional RPGs, the character you control isn't your typical hero. No wide eye farm boys, elven princesses, or honor seeking knights here. He's a roguish bard who takes advantage of people whenever he can. He is very fond of beer and the ladies, and doesn't have any loftier goals than finding a warm bed to crash in at night, preferably accompanied with a barmaid. This is an attitude that never changes in the game, fortunately.
The basic story is that your character of the Bard gets drafted into being `The Chosen One', and ends up trying to rescue to a trapped princess. You quickly find many other `Chosen Ones' who have met a sad fate, and also discover that all is not as it seems...
The controls are fairly simple. You use the primary buttons to attack, block, jump, and activate things with. The left and right trigger buttons activate your summoning spells. Summoning can get a little tricky in the heat of battle so you generally want to do that in advance. Over all I found that the controls worked pretty well.
I was happy with the graphics. Nothing overly special, but nothing shoddy either.
Other than the script writing and humor, the other place this game shines is the sound effects and music department. The sounds always seem to be on cue, and I loved all the amusing sing-a-long songs they had in the game.
Overall, I really enjoyed this game and highly recommend.
One would never think that such drunken lout would make such a great chosen one. 』
(I want my money back!) 『This has got to be the saddest RPG I have purchased in recent memory. Is this game honestly supposed to compete with Elder Scrolls 3 and 4, Dungeon Siege, Diablo 2, etc etc etc. Look elsewhere for your RPG's, guys. This game is sad.
The drawbacks are almost too numerous to mention. You have to be a bard. You can only have one character in your party. You can summon a few monsters but most of them you don't find until the very last tower. Once you beat the game you cannot replay your character. You can raise levels but it's not that fun and the monsters keep getting stronger as you raise levels. The magic items are idiotic.』 『The Bards Tale is an action/role-playing game in which the player takes on the role of the Bard a sardonic and opportunistic musician and adventurer driven by carnal rather than noble pursuits. (Worst Mechwarrior Game ... Period) 『I just became a proud owner of an XBox 360. I had always wanted to take a stab at the Mech Assault games on the XBox, and thankfully Mech Assault was finally listed as being backwards compatible with the XBox 360.
I've been a fan of the Mechwarrior universe ever since Mechwarrior 2 made its debut on the PC. Yeah, that was a long time ago. I was itching to play the same kind of in depth game again. I couldn't wait to open up the package and play a modern Mechwarrior game again. Afterall, the reveiws had been great. Plus, it had been a while since a good Mechwarrior game had come out. Mechwarrior 3 was awful, and the fourth wasn't that much better either. Well, neither is this game. In fact, it's worse than Mechwarrior 3 or 4. At least in those games you actually can group weapons together, be inside the cockpit, and have decent story lines.
Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf, fails in ever category to satisfy the hardcore Mechwarrior gamer. There's no Mechs to buy, no upgrades, no grouping of weapons, no commanding of fellow mechs, no fun period. If you've played and enjoyed the Mechwarrior 2 series, you know what kind of greatness is within those games. This game reminded me of a bad beta demo of Armored Core. The AI is horrific as well. I can't tell you how easy it was to outthink any enemy I came against, not there's much to it in the first place. That's because the aiming and targeting is flawed as well. I remember the old days of hitting someone in the legs and knocking their legs out. Well, if you're lucky you'll do that in this game, but nine times out of ten you'll just waste your unlimited ammo as well.
The other thing that really brought this game to a new low was the ability to walk through these icons in the map to increase your weapon strength and your health and your power. In the old games, the entire mission was made realistic by giving you a mech and your wits. If it got busted all up to heck, you had to fix it after the mission. Not this game, just plop over a health powerup and your health goes right back up. Yeah, that's great if you're a two year old playing this game and you have no recollection what a real Mech game played like. Unfortunately for me, I do remember.
Here's the other thing. What ever happened to overheating??? If you fired too much in the old days your mech would die. Not here in this game, either. Just fire away until your thumbs get tired and nothing will stop you.
This game is very simplistic and very unoriginal. It was painful for me just to get through a few missions before I finally tossed it aside and trade it in.
Gameplay: 3/5
The controls were actually easy to use. No problem getting around and shooting. There is just not good enough aiming quality.
Graphics: 3/5
I've seen better on the XBox like Halo 2's graphics engine, however, I've also seen way worse graphics as well. Just average visuals here. Frankly, I think I'm being generous with this rating.
Presentation: 2/5
The reason this gets such a low score is due to the game's history as a whole. I know the kind of potential Mechwarrior games have, and this game does not even compete. It tries to lure you in by saying you can jump in and out of mechs. However, this is the only thing trying to lure you into the game. It's a great feature, but when the game is designed around this premise, that's when it fails.
Features: 1/5
This game is so unoriginal and so not full of anything it leaves you so bored by the second and third missions you wonder why you continue to play. The features are simple: move, fire one single weapon (oh and by the way, you only get a few weapons to select from) and jump out of your mech and into another one on the map. Remember customizing mechs and stuff before each mission all you Mechwarrior 2 fans? Yeah ... I guess that must have slipped the game development guys' minds, because you can't customize anything.
Overall: 2/5
If you've never even seen Mechwarrior 2 then this game probably is fun for you. However, if you played these games since conception ... well ... spend your money elsewhere. Severe disappointment. 』
(Great Mech Fun - A Bit Too Much Foot-Time Though) 『MechAssault 2 Lone Wolf brings us yet another game of fun robot driving. You get a wide range of robots, as well as a few types of gameplay.
The graphics are reather nice - from the large explosions to the lightning-zaps of your weapons. You stomp around, gathering up supplies, blowing up everything that is around you.
However, where the previous game trapped you in your robotic shell, now you can climb out and get into other vehicles and tanks. You can lay down bombs to take out your enemies. This might seem like a cool feature - but it usually ends up with your frail human skeleton being squashed like a bug.
You can go online for traditional deathmatch battle, as well as a team MMORPG type of environment where you can go for more long term goals.
I have mixed emotions about the "expansion" from traditional mech gameplay. I understand that they're trying to give people more options, but the game really is quite unforgiving to you when you're out of your metal shell.
Luckily, they don't make you do that TOO often, and if you can just grit and bear it through those parts, the rest of the game really does reward with a lot of destructions and stamping around through a variety of landscapes.
Still, I would really love for MechAssault 3 to focus more on the large mech battles, and perhaps just provide a stronger plot line, better voice acting, and a truly immersive mech world. That would be my Mech Dream.』 『For the first time, gamers can step out of their 'Mechs - go out on foot, jump into other Mechs and hijack other vehicles. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Awesome game) 『I love Harry Potter and really enjoyed playing this game. It is so easy to follow along, and you can lose track of the time because you are so engrossed in the game.』
(horrible videogame!) 『The book and film of goblet of fire were good, but this game is awful! i tought that it would be great, but it isnt! the hogwartz levels are awful! the triwizard levels are, well, good, but they still dont make this a great game. what an awful game this is.』
(ditto) 『I was a bit disappointed, it was like the last game I played only a few more things added to it....but I am a true fan and played it anyway...go harry.』
(Very Disappointing) 『Once again we have a game with loads of work done on flashy graphics but terrible gameplay - immediately obvious from the beginning. If you're buying this for PC you will need specs at least 4x the recommendation. I have a PC at least twice as powerful as required but this game plays with horrible delay. Clearly the developers only tested on supercomputers. Add this to far too many cut scenes and menus, and some tedium about collecting cards and you have a pretty dull game.』
(The best by far) 『I played this game about a year ago and my sister and I (I'm 25 and she's 18) played it non stop until the end, which took a few days to complete. Then we played it again and yet another time, trying to do a little better each time and just having friendly competition with each other. It is so much fun. Now, a year later, I saw it on the xbox rack for under $15.00 and bought it right up and we're at it again. The graphics are great. Really superb. Especially the mini movies in between levels. The characters are true to how they look in the movies. Thankfully, it's their real voices and not some hokey version of it. It doesn't stick to the plot of the book, but whatever. I wish Krum and Cedric were in the game, but alas they are not. And there's no Quidditch. That's kind of a bummer. But overall it's really fun and my second favorite game ever. I would recommend it to anyone.』 『Electronic Arts Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for Xbox In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry is mysteriously selected as the fourth competitor in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (worst X-Box game in a long time...) 『This game is the worst game I have played since Land of the Dead: Road To Fiddlers Green. To start, how can this game get a decent grade for controls!? Its TERRIBLE and BROKEN!!!!!!! To aim down-sight you must press the LEFT STICK!!! WTF!!? And not only that, but you have to effin hold the thing!!!!!!! And since the control sensitivity is a default ULTRA LIGHT SPEED FAST, it is IMPOSSIBLE to aim. Jumping is left trigger... yeah, wtf!? Additionally, to switch weapons you must hold the RIGHT stick in and open an inventory screen in which you freeze your character in place and leave him open to be attacked and most likely killed.... on top of THAT your guns are atrocious in aiming... you will literally, I mean L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y shoot circles around the soviet soldiers. ON THE SUBJECT of Soviet soldiers... these motha flippins take SOOOOO many shots that not even the marvel super hero Hulk could survive... gotta calm down.. back to the controls. Eventually you get to lead your rebellious New York soldiers, so "Y" tells them to go to one spot (if you hold down Y then the entire team goes to the spot while just tapping it sends ones soldier), pressing "B" tells them to defend one spot, and "X" tells them to regroup.. sounds easy right? well its NOT!!! I guarentee you will find yourself pressing X to reload, but wind up calling your men back... what IS the reload button you ask? HAHAHAH! There is none, you actually reload if you don't shoot for a handful of seconds. Very awkward if there is a break in an intense fire fight yanno? Its like... *RATATATATATATATA...reload automatically while enemy is standing there shooting you*
Lets talk about the AI and the bugs plauging this lackluster game. Theres a SERIOUS chopping issue within Freedom Fighters, where enemies can shoot through and run walls, appear out of thin air, or just never stop coming. Ontop of that you can stand in front of an enemy for about 5 minutes (yes I did time this) before they go "Holy **** thats an American soldier!" and shoot at you with 100% accuracy. Then comes your partner AI.... when it comes to shooting enemies they are okay, but they DO NOT LISTEN TO YOU!!!!! Numerous times have I told a soldier to stand in one spot only to see him run off and get slaughtered. OH YES I FORGOT TO MENTION: a LOT of the time, your soldiers will run towards fences that are suppose to basically be a barrier for the end of the level or a barrier to make you find another way around and actually run right through it.. I swear to Buddha.
I think the story and how they pieced together the missions were probably the only good part of this title. Basically, the Russians beat the United States in building the first atom bomb, nuked Japan and forced its way into Europe seizing control of the continent. From there they moved into Cuba and then one day attacked Manhatten, NY. Moving on, each mission affects another one. For instance in one mission labeled "The Bridge" you must use TNT to blow up a bridge, but you must clear the stage, then go back to the stage "The Hotel", pick up the TNT while heading back to "The Bridge" and then use the TNT on the bridge which will help the people from the "Firehouse" stage to sweep through. I thought that was kind of cool... but thats it.
A combination of horrendous controls, disgusting music, glitches, bugs, atrocious AI, and punishing difficulty make Freedom Fighters one of the worst original X-Box titles I have ever played. How in the name of Zeus did this game get a 9.3? I honestly do not see it.』
(THIS GAME IS SO UNAPRESHIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 『I played this game a while back and I speak for everyone when I say after playing for as long as you wish you will get up and say what time is it, you've probably been playing for at least 4 hours. the crisp graphics are amazing for the time when it came out and even now. the gameplay is perfect and everything about it is awsome from the awsome gameplay to the great story this is a must play. if you dont you are a different breed of man because this is one of the simplist and funnist games ive ever played!!!!!!!!!! (Great shooter for beginners) 『Freedom Fighters for the X Box is a cool game. The overall concept is well done and interesting. The game play is easy to pick up and figure out.
Graphics: Not the best, but they are pretty good. Control: Easy. Fun Factor: Could play it over and over again.
Overall: The game is fun and easy to control; however, the game itself is way to easy. It is perfect for new gamers. 』
(Red dawn and Freedom Fighters) 『I like to think of Freedom Fighters and Red Dawn as the same, unother words I like to think that while New York City is being invaded, the same things are happening in that small town from the movie Red Dawn, as I like to think that the video game and the movie are 100% linked in every way. It's interesting really that it shows you fighting in the wilderness, then in the city. i realy hope they make Freedom Fighters into a movie!』
(One of the most underated games of all time) 『Just about everything that freedom fighters does in does right. From the exciting story to the suberb gameplay and some of the best music to ever grace a game. First of all Freedom Fighters is underated and underappriciated. It didn't sell that well and that it a terrible shame because this is a game that should be experianced by all. I mean your hooked from the start and it just gets better and better. First of all the squad controls are excellant and easy to use no matter how many soldiers you have and eventually you'll have 12 soldiers under your command. Your squadmates are very intelligent, along with the enemy soldiers, exhibit some of the most impressive a.i. seen in game. The 3rd person shooting is handled well and the aiming system does take getting used to but eventually becomes simple enough. The graphics are very solid and the environments are all suberb and varied throughout the game. The character models are solid and the included ragdoll physics are again some of the best to grace a videogame. The weapon selection is a little lacking but not to big an issue. The music is absolutely suberb and always manages to keep you entralled in the game. From start to finish Freedom Fighters is a blast and easily one to keep playing. There is a multiplayer but it has only one mode that is fun but there simly needed to be more modes to play with. It sucks that it got low sales and that hurts the chances for a much needed sequel. But if ever a game deserved a sequel Freedom Fighters would be it. So if you have not played freedom fighters, do yourself a favor go pick it up, you won't regret, and hell it only costs like 10$ so what have you got to lose?』 『MODEL- 14475 VENDOR- ELECTRONICS ARTS FEATURES- Freedom Fighters In a world where the Soviet Union won the Cold War a fierce conflict is beginning to unfold in the streets of America. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Pretty awesome) 『I love this game. I think the graphics are wonderful and killing dinosaurs and these warrior guys is so much fun. You have to at least try this game once. I'm hooked.』
(Maybe its Nostalgia, but I liked it) 『I admit TUROK(2008) is graphically superior to Turok: Evolution, but this game is still bigger in scope an depth than TUROK(2008).
Sure, this game suffers from the same bad formulas an filler content that almost ever FPS game has; Bad intro, cheesy plot an villains. But the sheer scope of level design and variety of crazy weapons, I have yet to see in many next-gen games.
One of the most profound events was at the end when Turok didn't kill Bruckner. I like that.
Its hard for this game to not look dated in relation to the new game...but it still has cool features that should be persevered. To bad video games don't often ever get remade. I still like havening this in my collection.』
(big letdown) 『i think that turok could have been much better if they put more time into the gameplay. I loved the multiplayer that was the best part of the game. so i guess ill give it a 2 only for the multiplayer if the multiplayer was bad i would've liked to give it less than a 1.』
(Turok Evolution review) 『Well I thout it was cool because you come back as the orgianl turok. The guns are prety cool. Also the flieing is SWEET!!!! But I think seeds of eivl is still better. (Where did I come from??) 『When you start the game you come out of no where... And there you are! And you have to do who know's what! The graphics stink. The story line is the worst I've seen. And how come there is a cave dude who goes around in time and there are rocket launchers! And lots of other things like that like shot-guns and such. And as the other reviewer said about that thing that blows up when it dies. Now just cause this costs 5 bucks doesn't mean you should just buy it! Save up your money for.. the Battle Front and KOTOR games. Those are the best games I've ever played.』 『In Turok: Evolution, you must save the River People of the Lost Land from the threat of the Biosaurs, with an all-new leader -- Turok's oldest enemy! Great graphics, sound and gameplay!』 『The granddaddy of console first-person shooters makes its way to next-generation consoles in style inTurok Evolution. Blast your way through velociraptors, stegosaurs, ankylosaurs, brachiosaurs, and other enemies with the most ludicrously destructive weapons ever--including variable payload cruise missiles, gravity disruptor beams, and the mighty swarm bore--and prepare to pick your jaw up off the floor when you see the devastation they cause. The graphics are utterly gorgeous: the game's 50-odd species, from harmless ickle butterflies to merciless T. rexes, are rendered in painstaking detail, and the environments are lush and interactive--plants and trees move as creatures brush through them, and you can shoot down trees to crush your enemies (or scuttle off as they try to knock piles of rocks down on you). The explosions and enemy deaths are particularly gobsmacking, and the sound effects are just as good.
Thankfully, all this is backed up by great gameplay--an entirely new game engine has been developed for next-gen hardware, and thoughTurok Evolutionis principally a first-person shooter, in certain levels you're backed up by a squad of allies, and in others you get to ride a flying dino with strap-on rocket launchers. The advanced AI means that both enemies and allies behave in a realistic manner and will adapt their tactics depending on whether you approach with stealth or force. There are over 60 stages across a variety of single- and split-screen multiplayer modes, with different difficulty levels for rookies or experts.Turok Evolutionis an absolute must-have for FPS fans.--Rikki Price』

Features and enhancements to this new installment in the Turok franchise include the groundbreaking Squad Dynamics System (SDS) for realistic enemy and allied squad AI, and an entirely new game engine built to take full advantage of the next-generation hardware platforms. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Immersion and fear.) 『Out of all the "horror" games I have ever played I have never truly been scared by any with the exception of this one. This game isn't just stuff that jumps out and shocks you. It has a suspenseful atmosphere that will make you not want to go into the next room. This game is both immersive and terrifying.』
(Fatal Game) 『If You like First Person Shooters, You might like the fact that this game makes You take shots with a Camera as Your ONLY weapon.
I walked by this game a million times (because the cover looked lame) at the game store, until I finally read into it online, and saw some still gameplay pics online.
I bought my first copy disc only, I bought another complete with a manual and the artwork cause it's a keeper for my collection.
This game made me believe in video game story telling again. And that there's always new angles in gameplay.
This game is another hit for Tecmo. and the second is just as good as the first...』
(Reminds me of J-HORROR, in a GOOD way !!) 『 In the beginning of the game, you play a teenager who is looking for his favorite author in an isolated, and creepy mansion. Then, he goes missing. Then, his big sister comes to find him and uncovers a few things she didn't expect.
Imagine crossing a game with the eeriness of RINGU, the disturbingness of THE RING,the scares of THE GRUDGE, and an old camera that takes pictures of spirts. This is exactly what you get.
The scariness of this game just doesn't end. If you are playing it alone, your probably going to turn it off after the first 45 minutes of game play. It can sometimes get down right unnerving, especially in the numberous cut scenes.
The game is also somewhat difficult, for you can get lost very easily, and you may not be taking your "pictures" fast enough.
If you play this game, do the following......................
1) Turn off every single light in the house (Makes for a good atmosphere)
2)Turn volume up really high, or use a surround-sound system if you have one.(Or use headphones)
3)If possible, turn the ringer on your phone to the highest volume.
4)Make sure you have something funny to watch afterwards......』
(I have a camera and I know how to use it!) 『Sept. 1987, a group of people enter Himuro mansion to research for a new novel. Apparently, strange rituals were performed there believed to be that of the Shinto. Mafuyu, a good friend of Jensei Takamine, the leader of the group, goes searching for them after they have been gone for days. After he fails to return within two weeks, his sister Miku goes out searching for him.
When you see the based on the true story on the cover, you're probably thinking 'yeah, right, its probably like 'Amityville Horror.' Wrong, the storyline on the game is based on a mansion that had been discovered where the owner went mad and massacred everyone there. The main plot of this game and it's characters have nothing to do with the original mansion other than some of the designs in the house and the room structures.
Starting off, this is one of the best Survival Horror games ever, but I do have to admit it sounds a little cheesy at first with your weapon being a camera. But after a while it seems to make more sense than those weapons used by the 'Ghostbusters' or using a handgun or rifle. The camera controls are a little clunky, but are easy to adjust to. You can upgrade your camera to defeat enemies easier. What makes this game scarier than RE is the fact that you're fighting ghosts and your character has a sixth sense, so she is able to see what happened and these things can be very...well gruesome and cruel. Most of the flashbacks you see are either of the past rituals or how a person died.
This game was already released on PS2, but there are more goodies here for you to enjoy. For starters, the graphics are a little bit better and the framerate is good. Secondly, there are some added features like an extra ending and a bonus costume. And, finally, you don't have to save on a separate block for your album because the HD can hold it all.
Personally, I believe this could have really happened because back then people would do stuff like that to their families if they thought they're against them or something. Stories like 'Amityville Horror' have other things against them that could easily disprove that theory. Believe it or not, its still fun to play the game. The only problem with this game is that the mansion changes a lot throughout the nights you are there so you will backtrack a lot into these areas, but they will be different because doors and things will fix as it reverts to its original form.
This game is a must-have if you play survivor horror games
Pros - Better graphics than PS2 - Added ending - More ghosts to capture than PS2 - Bonus ending that didn't appear in PS2 version - Creepy atmosphere - The eerie flashback scenes
Cons - A lot of backtracking - Easy to get lost』
(Say Cheese........AHHHHHHHHHH !!) 『[Edited] June 12 2005 ~ I have read so many reviews where people are confused by the fact that the main character uses a camera so I thought that I would explain. In some Asian cultures some people believed that when you take a picture it captures a part of your soul.
I played this game when it was first released so I'm going to give a general review of the game and how it has held up after the few years that have past.
I didn't know what to expect when I got this game and boy was I scared and impressed by it. This game is very well made, the story is truly twisted like nothing I have ever seen. The gameplay is great and never gets boring and the suspense and horror is very intense.
IMO, nothing since has topped this game in terms of being the most atmospheric and disturbing.
I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys movies like "The Ring" and "The Grudge". Imagine being in those movies, the creepiness/scary factor is even stronger!
ENJOY =)』 『Terror reveals itself Frame by Frame.』 『Fatal Frame, a horror-adventure game, leaves its victims breathless as they become immersed in a world of supernatural spirits and sheer terror. Guided by her sixth sense and armed only with an antique camera, Miku sets out to solve the mystery of her brother's sudden disappearance. As the story unfolds, she discovers gruesome details about the Himura mansion's troubled past. The property and surrounding area have a dark history involving grisly murders, an evil cult, and restless spirits.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Sadly, the X-Box port does little to make the experience any better than it was on the PS2) 『I remember when Silent Hill 2 got an X-Box port as Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams and I'll tell you right now, I was undeniably happy about it . Not only did I lack a PS2 at the time, but I had played a copy of the PS2 original after playing the X-Box port of Silent Hill 2 and found that the X-Box port was aesthetically better than the original while the game on either system was and still is excellent.
Unfortunately, that was with Silent Hill 2, only. Silent Hill 4 does little to make itself stand out as an X-Box port and does very little to improve on its aesthetics, something that I feel it was in dire need of along with more competent writers to execute the story in something other than a dull, drab, boring, anti-climactic tone with most of the main characters, heroic or not, featuring the depth of a shoe string, boring, hackneyed atmospherics and shoddy game design choices.
The only difference between the PlayStation 2 and X-Box version is that the X-Box version forces you to save games on the X-Box Hard Disk; you can't save copies of Silent Hill 4 on the portable Memory Units and you can't copy ANY of the saves you make. Yeah, not only does the game try to bore you to death with its apathy and lack of immersion, but it also keeps you from storing save games on something other than the console's hard drive. I guess the only plus side is that the save game image on the X-Box has The Eye of Watchfulness rather than one of the Toadstool monsters writhing around in front of a bright pink background.
That's the only change. It's graphically the same, the minimalist real-time menu system works the same, the sounds are all laughable and pathetic, there's no other character you can play as (something I would've payed good money to do just to spend fifteen minutes playing as someone other than a living piece of drywall in a nappy wig and blue jeans), no different lighting effects. Just a save-game nit-pick.
You're still playing the same boring game trying to pass as horrific when you have to deal with idiotic invincible enemies such as ghosts, Ringu rip-offs, rolling wheelchairs and a gun totting hippy in a trench coat trying to come off as a serial killer. You're still cycling through five different drab, well lit levels that takes the effects of 'subtle atmospherics' and drives them so hard and heavy into the game it's difficult to say your even having fun much less getting terrified, you're still playing as some mutt-faced, emotionless drone who wiggles his butt every time he arms himself and strafes around an enemy letting him mumble ineffective and awkward dialogue and grope any and all blood encrusted women he stumbles across who just so happen to be more underdressed and sexy than the average stripper, you still only get a pocketful of firearms that do little to keep the enemies down, you're still reading memos written by idiots who forsake continuity and factual errors for the sake of sounding scary in that cheesy, JC haunted house kind of way, you're still thumbing your way through a game that hardly even tries to be dramatic or immersive until the last three minutes before the final boss fight and you've still got endings and replay value about as pointless as a pair of scissors without a screw.
The game is still terrible in its own broken right. If anything, I can recommend you get the X-Box version of this game for two reasons:
A) because you don't own a PlayStation 2
and
B) Because a cheap game deserves a cheap price.』
(A let down for fans.) 『I love Silent Hill. Happiness was the day a new Silent Hill game came out and I could run to the game store after work to get it. I still get that creeped out feeling when I play Silent Hill 2 or 3 in the dark. If a game makes it hard to fall asleep, it's a good scary game.
Silent Hill 4? There are some fun connections to the other games if you look hard enough. It turns out the landlord of your building in 4 is Mary's father (your wife in Silent Hill 2). But all the connections are little things like that. However that's not enough to make it a bad game.
A bad game is a game that makes you do the same levels over and over again. A bad game has a shaky plotline and endings that don't make it worth it to play over and over again. A bad game takes the scariest level in it's previous games (the hospital level. Every Silent Hill game has one and they're all pretty damn scary) and makes you laugh instead of fear. THE NURSES BURP WHEN YOU HIT THEM WITH A PIPE! NO JOKE! It sounds like they drank a bottle of soda before they decided to try and kill you. It's not scary, it's not even that funny, it's kind of sad.
Other than that, the game has a decent soundtrack, your room can get quite scary if you let it, and although none of the characters are all that likeable, I ended up growing attatched to Cynthia.
If you're a Silent Hill fan, you should play it just to play it. If you're not you might still enjoy it because it's quite different then the rest of them. It just didn't compare to the other three.』
(unique and engaging but not quite achieved) 『The room entales events before silent hill 2 i believe. The 1st person aspect has great, but needs more solid ground. The story behaves like it should and ties up loose ends about the killings fetured in the second silent hill. I'm not to fond of this one having ghosts that can't be killed or dispelled, which drops the replay value on this one. Controls handle well and the swing gauge is a great feature. this one seems short also. if they make another, why not incorporate the camera from resident evil 4 and keep the swing meter that may increase a stronger sense of emergency, while allowing precise aiming control of your guns. no one ever said james succeeded or failed. I think he needs to finish what he started.』
(Don't waste your money!) 『[...] Being an avid fan of the survival horror genre, I naturally bought this title. I ended up throwing it out a few days later. The only thing I really liked about the game was its first-person perspective. You begin in an eerie, locked apartment room. Soon you discover what is essentially a portal to a haunted subway system in the bathroom. Sounds engaging, right? It is, thus far. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed here were the bothersome ghosts. You can attack them only to discover that they, being ghosts, cannot be "killed," thus you're stuck with them, following you, trying to suck the life out of your every other second. After circumventing these, I decended into the main subway area only to encounter more. Now they were hampering my mobility. Whenever I tried to pass or traverse any other area of the subway, I encountered them. It was annoying. At least allow me to investigate my surroundings! I played for about 20 minutes longer like this before I shut off my PS2 and took out the game. This is the kind of game that, because of it's difficulty level, makes you frustrated enough to stop playing it. If you want to enjoy the SH series, I recommended trying to find SH2 (I found it used at Blockbuster) or even SH3. As for survival horror, I highly recommend Fatal Frame 2 (there's also a FF3 coming out 11/05) or Resident Evil 4.』
(Silent Hill?) 『I am a tremendous Survival Fan, I own even the lesser known titles such as Over Blood and the Ring. Silent Hill is one of my all time favorites, I was hooked from the first title. Silent Hill has a surreal and over all creepy atmosphere to it. There is often darkness, fog and decay in their stories. I have loved 1, 2 and 3. I had my hopes pretty high for Silent Hill 4. Unfortunately those hopes were wasted.
This game would have been fun if it was apart of the Silent Hill Franchise, but the moment they slapped that label on that game they basically rose the bar too high. Silent Hill 4 is dull and just not very interesting. It had some nice effects, some interesting characters and that is about it. The Monsters aren't even remotely interesting in this installment. They had evil monkeys for god sake!
The Ghost were kind of nice, but this isn't Silent Hill. It wasn't even very difficult but I made it nearly to the end, lost interest just out of pure and utter boredom and stopped for months before wanting to finish. I never did that with any other Silent Hill title. This was a most unfortunate sequal.』 『Silent Hill 4 Xbox』
