Every track is like the title says, a "virtuoso cello encore". Her playing is very expressive and beautiful but also has a flawless, effortless quality. This CD is over 75 minutes long and was recorded in only a couple days. Her concerts must be amazing.』

The music has been orchestrated on much much nicer synths (not the awful sounding nes/famicom midis) complete with choral moments in some songs, and even comes with a Black Mages version of the final battle and a techno mix of eternal wind, the main theme. The music sounds great, as it does in the game. If you liked the music from the game, and are willing to drop about 30 bucks on the 61 track single disc&the dvd which won't offer much unless you speak Japanese, I say go for it. This while very well done, is a bit too pricey unless you're a collector, like me.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great Music from the "BEST FINAL FANTASY" game ever) 『This is a great soundtrack good music, cool case, and 4 DISKS!When I read about it being an import I was afraid that th lyrics in "Eyes On Me" would be sung in japanese but thankfully it was in English. All the songs sound great. It is Nobuo Uematsu best work ever. The "Liberi Fatali" song is still sung in Latin but it still sounds great. The little booklet that comes with it is cool, it has pictures from the game in it along with the names of the songs typed in english. The lyrics "Eyes On Me" are typed in English and Japanese,Liberi Fatali is typed in Latin everything else(besides the credits) is typed in Japanese. But it is still a 5 Star Hit! If you don't own it Get It! The best music Ever! 』
(Uematsu = Genius) 『I can't believe how each of his soundtracks get better and better. Just when you think that you've heard the best music from a final fantasy game (FFVI in particular) he comes out with FFVII music that just blows it away, and now FFVIII (which i think is better than VII overall) is just freakin amazing!!! Tracks like The Landing, Force Your Way, Liberi Fatali, Never Look Back, omg and so many more. You have to get this now!!!』
(High school music with military theme) 『When I first bought the original soundtrack, it makes feel like that I was back in high school struggling to grow up. Yet the music has a calming effect on me whenever I wanted to have peace within myself. The soundtrack is great and it featured the first singer for Final Fantasy; C-pop (Chinese pop) singer Faye Wong who was big in China and in Hong Kong. This soundtrack shows great collaboration between China and Japan working together. Of course, I'm Chinese and I listen to the soundtrack all the time. If you played the game itself, you'll love this soundtrack.』
(Nobuo Uematsu Is Making Real Music!) 『Okay, I know that all FF soundtracks up to FF8 have been brilliant, but did you ever notice the songs sounding a bit too much like gameboy music? Well, here in the FF8 soundtrack, real instruments, singers and orchestras are being put to use in what I believe to be Uematsu's greatest triumph. It really takes away the element in the music that makes it a bit difficul to catergorise as real music. This soundtrack has everything, with a brilliant enemy theme, shown in 'Succession of Witches', incredible battle themes, shown in 'Don't be Afraid' and 'The Man With the Machine Gun', boss themes - 'Maybe I'm A Lion' and 'The Extreme', and love themes - 'Julia', 'Eyes on Me' and 'Love Grows'. To sum it up in one sentence, this soundtrack is a true masterpiece. The only disappointing things on it are: 1: 'Jailed' and 'Cactus Jack' and 2: The booklet is in Japanese! Oh well, can't blame them for not translatng it - this 4 disc set of 85 tracks IS an import, after all. Congrats, Nobou! (chuckle, chuckle)』
(Not the best... but does the job.) 『Before I go on, I'd like to say I am a fan of game/anime music. Especially the job done by Chris Vrenna on the "American McGee's Alice" soundtrack, and Kenji Kawai's work on "Ghost In The Shell".
Final Fantasy 8's soundtrack is moving, just as the game was to some. However, it's not perfect, despite what others may say. Granted, Nobuo did some very fine work, and I still think it was a wise investment (paid a hefty $80 at an Anime store), but in my opinion, it's not the be all and end all.
One of the qualms I have, is that the music here sounds like it was ripped straight from the game, thus making a lot of the tracks easily forgettable. I am aware there is an album floating around with the music being performed by an orchestra, but that's besides the point. If I wanted to spend money on synthesized faux-classical music, I'd save myself some money and buy an album by Rob D.
Another is the presentation of the CD's... Oh sure, the little box is nice, and the booklet's there to flick through and whatnot, but the CD's look like someone grabbed four CDR's and just stuck some screenshots on there. Perhaps I'm being too critical, but I didn't pay the money I did for dodgy-looking CD's, that I could do on my computer at home.
With those two problems aside, you get what you pay for. 74 tracks of music from a bestselling video game. Of course, Faye Wong makes her appearance on "Eyes On Me", which still sounds wonderful, even when you've played it half to death. The rest of the songs are touching, emotional, and even downright catchy ("Mods de Chocobo", anyone?). It also has that "background music" quality to it, almost ambient, even.
It might not be Uematsu's opus, but it comes close enough, in my opinion.』 『Soundtrack to Japan's most popular computer game. Composed, arranged&produced by Nobuo Uematsu. 1999.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Waste of Time) 『What a terrible movie! 108 minutes of my life I will never get back again! It's easy to see why this never got any theatrical release - it would have been laughed out of theaters. Why anyone would waste their time on a 5-disk set of this boring, long, empty movie is beyond my understanding. I guess sometimes style wins over substance, but in this case there was no style to redeem the movie, either. I think the shots of Chelsea Field wandering in the desert were actually reality shots - of her trying to escape the set, and get off the movie!
Beware - unless this is the first horror/thriller movie you've ever seen, unless you have never seen even a half-way decent movie before, you will be bored to death. Avoid, at all costs.』
(Strange movie with one . . .) 『Strange movie with one redeeming value - this three disc set includes 'The Secret Glory', which is the story of Otto Rohm and his pursuit of the Holy Grail - a pursuit which comes to the attention of the Third Reich leaving him with the unfortunate circumstance of receiving a recruiting offer that he can not refuse . Part Scientist, part Occultist and in no way prepared for the Politics of dealing with an Organization he can never possibly understand or comply with . He finds himself being offered the oppurtunity and financial support he never would have had on his own but with perilous strings attached . Worth buying just to get this disc . Elegantly and hauntingly filmed with an eery backdrop on screen while subtitled in English throughout (the interviews are in German, French and English but with heavy German accents - making the subtitles necessary) . This second disc in the three disc set is well worth seeing .』
(Welcome To Bethany...) 『A wayward, shape-shifting demon (Robert John Burke) does what he must to escape our material plane. What does this require? Why, serial-murder of course! Not just any kind of killing however. No, The Dust Devil must use his victims in archane rituals, where blood-letting (along w/ other body fluids) is a sacred rite. To him, we are fleshly keys to help him unlock his only means of accessing the spiritual realm. Enter Wendy (Chelsea Field), a woman who is also trying to escape something. In her case, it's her marriage, and the abuse that came w/ it. Her path will intersect with the Dust Devil's trajectory in the Namibian town of Bethany. Meanwhile, a cop named Ben (Zakes Mokae) is trying his best to do two things. One is to track down the infamous serial-killer, the other is to endure life without his long lost wife and son. These three beings- the demon, the woman, the man -will meet in a desert ghost-town in order to fulfill their destinies. DUST DEVIL is an outrageously overlooked horror masterpiece. I never tire of watching it, and highly recommend it. Richard Stanley (Hardware) has come up with a truly original and engrossing tale of life, death, and the supernatural, all played out in the barren african wastes left by generations of war. The landscape is captured beautifully, making africa seem more like the planet Mars than any earthly environment. DUST DEVIL should be owned by all horror maniacs! This one is in my top five...』
(A true hidden gem in the world of cinema.) 『The best way to describe this flick is a spaghetti western horror/fantasy set in the deserts of South Africa. It is truly amazing. The visuals and sounds are magnificent and give the film a unique feel. There is NO other film like this. All it takes is a few frames of the film to realize you are watching Dust Devil. I randomly saw this on TV while I was in the Philippines, and I was hooked. I purchased this DVD as soon as I found out there WAS a DVD! If you like horror, westerns, monster movies, and/or great movies, you owe it to yourself to see this flick!』
(Are you going to shoot me? F#@k yes!) 『This was recommended to me by my good friend and Amazon bud, Clint Bronson. He thought I would like it since I like horror movies with serial killers and (since I am a photographer), the beautiful cinematography. HE DID NOT STEER ME WRONG! This is by far one of the most visually perfect horror movies I ever saw.
The movie takes place in the wilds of South Africa. An American drifter and serial killer (Robert John Burke) takes to South Africa. He roams the desert, taking photos of his victims before he kills them in a ritualistic way. The first one he makes beautiful love to (and he, Dust Devil is quite handsome) and then snaps her neck. He then dismembers her and paints pictures on the wall with her blood and other products added to it, and simply moves on to the next victim. In the mean time, a unhappy housewife, Wendy (Chelsea Field), decides to leave her husband and find herself in the South African desert. She meets Dust Devil when she picks him up hitchhiking. Their paths cross a few times, she is taken in by him, but then finds out what he does. The rest is a journey to find just who or what Dust Devil is.
I found the cinematography to be visually perfect. Yes, this movie had gore, but was so well put together, directed and photographed that I really didn't see it as that gory. I saw it as a beautiful film.
I highly recommend this to any horror fans or fans that love excellent cinematography. This movie held my interest and definitely is one of the better horror films of modern times.
Also thanks M. for having it on your wish list, Clint might not have seen it. And Main Man thanks for reinforcing me to watch this! Again, my Amazon friends have not steered me wrong. BUY THIS MOVIE! 』 『Richard Stanley's highly sought-after "Director's Cut" makes it's home video debut. Wendy (Chelsea Field; David Lynch's Hotel Room A Passion To Kill Wicked) leaves her husband taking off into the voids of Africa. She picks up a hitchhiker (Robert John Burke; Confessions of a Dangerous Mind Good Night and Good Luck Munich) a traveling Serial Killer who snaps photos of his victims before killing them. Wendy does not realize the danger she is in until a police detective (Zakes Mokae; The Comedians Gross Anatomy Waterworld) arrives to warn her that her "companion" is something much worse than just a killer he is a shape-shifting demon who steals his victims' souls. Soon both the officer and Wendy become the next intended victims of the Dust Devil The 5-disc set includes:Dust Devil: The Final CutDust Devil: The Final Cut Work Print (with additional footage)Three Richard Stanley documentaries: The Secret Glory Voice Of The Moon and The White Darkness (on 2 discs)Bonus Soundtrack CDFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: HORROR Rating: R UPC: 858964001133 Manufacturer No: 1133』 『As noted by Richard Stanley fans,Dust Devil, the feature following his box-office hitHardware, failed to find release, and when it did, a terrible edit drastically altered the story. Subversive Sinema has now released the director-approved final cut ofDust Devil, in a box set that also contains Dust Devil's working edit, the film's Sergio Leone-like soundtrack, and three riveting Stanley documentaries:The Secret Glory,Voice of the Moon, andThe White Darkness.Dust Devil, a horror story based on the myth of a Namibian serial killer, looks more like a Western. Filmed on location in Africa where the murders allegedly took place, Chelsea Field plays Wendy Robinson, a woman, who under duress of leaving her husband, heads out to the desert to accidentally encounter the Dust Devil (Robert John Burke), a mercy killer who slays depressed women to save them from the dark side. According to locals, the Dust Devil is a demon, enabling Stanley's abiding interest in world folk religions to weigh heavily in on the plot, especially when the town's witch doctor visits the beyond to unlock mysteries, or when the Dust Devil displays a box containing his victims' fingers. The documentaries, however, are most exciting. The White Darknessunravels political and social aspects of Haitian Voudon, including the history of American Imperialism in Haiti, as told by skilled priest and priestess, Altes Paul and Edelle.Voice of the Moonshows footage of Afghani rebels in the late '80s, sans narrator, instead beautifully accompanied by native music and poetry, adding Herzogian emotional effect. The Secret Glorypieces together the story of Otto Rahn, an SS officer who thought he'd located the Holy Grail. In all three films, the authenticity of the subjects reign, making it more difficult to buy the magic's fictionalized version inDust Devil.Dust Devil, though, with its cheesier horror moments, provides a dose of humor to a fairly serious package.--Trinie Dalton』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (When toys become art!) 『The action figure of Judge Master Grabanth from the Final Fantasy series is a real gem. I feel very fortunate to be living in the "golden age" of action figures. There are numerous companies today that have taken the quality of "toys" and raised them to a high form of collectible art. This figure is a case in point. It is BEAUTIFUL...the matte finish on the armor, the detail on all the parts, the fantastic multi-part pole arm. It's too beautiful to play with, but any child certainly could. I just like to display this figure: and that is the beauty of this type of toy--it is cheap enough to be either art OR a plaything. Fans of the video games, fantasy figures, or just wonderfully produced action figures will enjoy "The Judge".

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A wonderfully useful item for one of the 90s best RPGs) 『This guide has everything one needs to play this game thoroughly and successfully. It has maps, item/weapons listings, monsters, boss strategies, walkthrough, character class breakdowns, ability listings, side quests, secret locations, and all you need to know on how to acquire all the hidden characters, including Cloud from FFVII.
