Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (befuddled) 『I have no idea why I like this show. It is shallow, predictable, and loud. Still, it is all of these things done right, plus a whole lot more. It proves that you do not need an incredible, original premise to make a very entertaining anime series. The final volume does not disappoint in the least. If you like action, you will love this show. If you do not like action, you will still probably love this show. Plus, the sound comics are seriously funny.』
(Finally!! A good ending to an anime!!) 『I throughly enjoyed Vol. 6 of S-cry-ed! If you've been watching the whole series so far, Vol. 6 is the pay-off for the viewer with LOTS of action and the plot is finally resolved! The ending is very well-done and still leaves enough room if the creators decide to make more. The animation remain excellent, as well as the character design and music. So aeshetically, you're in for a real treat. The storyline and character growth/development are excellent too, and both are wrapped up in this volume. If you've enjoyed the series so far, then I don't need to tell you to go buy this NOW. if you''ve been interested in S-cry-ed, but haven't the 1st volume yet, I recommend it wholeheartedly. You may find it to be one of the best anime series ever, just like me. One last thing, Bandai's dub is excellent and I preferred it to the Japanese version. Dubs have come a very long way in terms of quality. If you're still a naysayer of English dubs, watch dubs like S-cry-ed, Saiyuki, Rahxephon, and Hellsing. They may change your mind.』
(What an ending!!!) 『Wow. I just watched this final edition of S-cry-Ed and that is all I have to say. Just wow. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but after watching the first five DVD's, you just get caught up in the ending. I couldn't look away for a second. All four episodes had plenty of action, and it tied up every loose end in the story, however minor they were. It was an awesome DVD, and I reccomend it to every anime fan out there, only after viewing the first five. It is just about the most perfect ending to an anime series ever.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Love is beautiful) 『The movie is about a girl that falls in love with a man. The man falls in love with the girl. Oh, and there is some very beautifully choreographed fighting. It's not really fighting, but more like dancing. Also, I found this movie quite funny. Namsoon, who is the girl detective that falls in love with the nameless swordsman, is always undercover as a male, so Nameless is quite surprised when he finds that she is a woman; he is also obviously infatuated with her.
The plot is...okay. There's counterfeit money floating around, and the officers/cops are out to flush out whoever is behind it. The only problem I had with this movie was the ending. I hate spoilers, so I won't do that to you. I'll just say that the ending is the most beautiful , yet saddest, part of the movie. It's a happy-not-happy ending.』
(A beautiful but confusing love story.) 『This movie is ok to watch if you're trying score points with your girl but by yourself this movie is a love story plain and simple. There's action (mostly cgi), there's some comedy but still its a love story plus this movie shows too many flashbacks! You'll be confused after the first 45 minutes! The movie is only good to watch if you're with a loved one but if your with a friend skip it unless you have respect for Korean movies! Only under that logic watch it.』
(One of the bad Korean Fantasy movies. The fighting is worthless. The plot is incoherent and nonsense.) 『It's one of the bad Korean Fantasy movies. The fighting is worthless. The plot is incoherent and nonsense.
I prefer the Warrior, and Shadowless Sword.』
(so unique that it reaches its own type of perfection) 『this was great! it had a definite individuality to it. it had some comedy (very little) that actually worked in a really great way for it. the characters didn't say a lot but you still seemed to guess the story of there lives. it had a great tone and fantastic music. the instruments used in it were so out of the ordinary for a wushu film but it worked wonderfully. there is one scene with a french accordion that worked so well. the fight scenes are really cool. the visuals are the best. to tell the truth, i hated this film the first time i saw it. mostly because i was expecting more of a classic wushu film. but once that passed i really enjoyed this movie and it's now one of my favorites. the love story is great. there is a relationship that develops between the two main characters. it begins with detective namsoon (the girl) trying to follow him and try to make an arrest. it than goes to a fight scene in an alleyway where a dark shadow takes up half of it. its so cool how they use that. but as the story progresses we se this relationship come together and it worked wonderfully. a new innovative and great film that trys to reinvent everything in film.』
(very pretty) 『Set during the Lee dynasty, The Duelist tells the tale of detectives Namsoon and Ahn. The former a hot-headed young woman who is just as willing to stick a knife in the gut of an adversary as look at him and the latter a calm, pleasant man who tries, often in vain, to keep his protégé's temper in check. One day, while working undercover, Namsoon notices a skilled swordsman sporting a white wig and a mask amazing onlookers with his impeccable skill. However, things soon become chaotic when a struggle between two groups breaks out and a wagon containing a huge amount of moneyis spilt. In order to keep the peace, Namsoon and Ahn pursue a couple of thieves: one a bald man with an eye patch and the other the masked man who swiped a gold statue. Namsoon is able to catch up with the masked man and they cross weapons. Although she is able to split his mask, the man is able to get away.
After this incident, trouble begins the spread because the money was counterfeit. The huge amounts of counterfeit money make prices inflate and cause distress throughout the kingdom. Wanting to get to the bottom of the problem, Namsoon and Ahn search out the only engraver, who just happens to have been released from prison recently after a mysterious person bailed him out, who is capable of making molds that could press near perfect coins. The artist sketches a picture for the detectives of the man who bailed him out: a young man with shoulder length hair and sad eyes. Namsoon recognizes him as the swordsman she pursued earlier.
Namsoon and Ahn soon learn that Sad Eyes works for the minister of defense and Namsoon dolls herself up as a simpering court woman in order to get close to the man. The two battle a couple of times and through the clashing metal and enhanced sensations, Namsoon begins to fall in love with the beautiful swordsman.
The most common criticism that I have heard and read about The Duelist is that the plot is paper-thin. Honestly, this is the case. The plot can easily be summed up in one sentence and it is a plot that has been done numerous times before with better execution. However, The Duelist is a beautiful film. The costumes are magnificent, especially those of Namsoon and Sad Eyes, and architecture is extraordinary. The fight scenes, especially those between the heroine and her enemy/beloved are gorgeous and they give off equal sensations of danger and beauty. Also the soundtrack is quite wonderful with equal parts rock and traditional music. At one point there was a thunderous rock track being played with a soft piano. The trio of bass, drums, and guitar did not drown out the piano, and it gave the supple movements of Sad Eyes, Kang Dong-won, even more beauty and grace. A decent film; just don't go looking for an intricate plot.』 『Once upon a time long ago in Korea, the Minister of Defense, Song Piljoon, decides to stamp counterfeit money. As soon as it goes into circulation, prices skyrocket and the common people are thrust into extreme hardship. Detective Namsoon goes forthrightly undercover with her partner, Detective Ahn, to investigate the counterfeit money. But when all the prime suspects are killed, the case becomes a much deeper mystery. She discovers one loyal henchman, Sad Eyes, a beautiful swordsman with a pale, blank face, is covering up Minister Song's tracks. Namsoon and Sad Eyes confront each other in a series of duels--tirelessly chasing, being pursued, and dodging each other. Inevitably, they fall headlong in love--and their forbidden enchantment blossoms. Each struggles to reconcile the desperate conflict between love and obligation to duty, as they square off to meet their fate in one last duel.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A story that REALLY improves upon an utterly horrible movie script) 『I believe gigantic kudos goes out to J.M. Dillard for making The Final Frontier a GREAT deal more entertaining that the absolutely dreadful film written and directed by William Shatner. For those who MUST read all the Trek novels available, certainly you will enjoy this more than you could ever hope to like the film version, but while it is light years ahead, you can only polish up this story so much.
And what about *the story*? Without question, Trek V has the most ridiculously contrived and laughable plot of ANY Trek story, either in written form, on TV or on the big screen. I was 100% caught up the the hype that the previews created before the film was released...I gotta hand it to whoever edited them together, because they actually made the movie look exciting and very worthwhile to look forward to...unfortunately the end result was just pure drivel.
So Spock has a brother who has abandoned all Logic and has embraced the lawless and violent traditions of the Vulcan past before the supression of emotions helped save their race. Moreover, he is a devout believer in the Almighty, too (I know, not only does it SOUND like a stretch, but they never pulled it off--not even remotely in the film). So Sybok (Spock's emotionally disturbed Bro) is determinded to not just embrace his emotions and belief in God, but he is hell-bent on Proving His existence, as well. Not an easy task in a Galaxy full of Athiests. The story just becomes even more silly as it continues. Word has it that after Leonard Nimoy's triumphant success co-writing and directing Trek IV (arguably one of the all-time best films in the ENTIRE franchise history) Shatner flatly refused to do another movie unless he was given the chance to write and direct as well...and unfortunately, the Final Frontier is the end result. One wonders how Paramount managed to Green Light the fantastic Undiscovered Country after such a disaster? At least they ended on a great high note.
One interesting side note: while Shatners writing of this movie is abysmal to say the least, he has shown unexpected finesse in writing later novels set in the Trek Universe, some of which can be viewed as the best in print (this is in part largely due to his co-writers who are easily the best Trek authors writing today IMO).
J.M. Dillard should once again be credited for taking such a horrible script and turning it into a MUCH better story than it otherwise would have been -- but you can only do so much with a crappy story, and Dillard did more than I felt would normally have been considered possible based on what was there to work with in the first place.』
(Trying not to copy others, but they're right) 『Yeah, so what they said. The movie was a bomb, and the book tells the story the way it should have been.
Trek books are a tricky thing. Novelizations are a tricky thing. This particular Trek novelization does everything it should, and more. The only problem is that an artist is only as her subject matter, and Find God in the Center of the Galaxy still remains a hokey premise.
But let's focus on the good things. Every major Trek player gets a focus in this novel, including Sulu, who had a big part in all of McIntyre's novelizations. I was glad to see Dillard continue his story in the same vein. We get to see his and Scotty's "secret pain", as well as several other characters in the movie who got left out.
All the characters have depth -- the three delegates, the Klingons, Sybok himself, even the funky-toothed guy drilling holes in the opening shot. Every one is three-dimensional. Example: Klaa (Klingon captain) is no longer a chip-shouldered upstart with delusions of grandeur. He's a Klingon worthy of Klingons, and his motives in pursuing Kirk are revealed as devious and calculating, rather than dumb and bumbling as they appeared in the film.
This novel ties the movie into the others. Star Trek II-V form one continuous tale, without a whole lot of break in between. Yet they still make very little reference one to another. In this novel, we see a Kirk who was re-rejected by a dear love only months before, who lost his son very recently, and who is still coping with Spock's death and resurrection.
I have nothing but praise for the work of J.M. Dillard thus far. And this is no exception. If you, like me, consider Star Trek V the red-headed stepchild of the Star Trek series (no offense to all you red-headed stepchildren), then please read this novelization. Give it a shot. You'll like it. Or I'll buy you a Twinkie. (not really though)』
(Dillard makes Shatner's concept work, almost.) 『Star Trek V: The Final Frontier arguably had the silliest of plot concepts, and the touches of buffoonish humor did not help the movie much either.
Sybok, a renegade Vulcan from Spock's past, has managed to seize Nimbus III, the 'Planet of Intergalatic Peace'. But it is a ruse, what he really needs is a starship to take him to the center of the galaxy. Once there, Sybok believes he will meet God.
Dillard attempts to fill in the many character gaps in Shatner's Kirk centered story, giving each brainwashed member of the crew a chance to have center stage and a moment to shine. Thus it is more of an ensemble piece than the film. Dillard also clarifies some of the fuzzy plot points, making the hijacking and trip to God a tad easier to believe. There is also an honorable attempt to fit the concept of Nimbus III into the Trek Mythos rather than having it just be a gimmick jumping off point for the story. But despite all this hard work this novel is worthwhile reading only for those who would like to see a silly story told in a more well thought out manner. Strictly for Trek buffs.』
(Amazing how much better the same story can be;) 『The movie version of"Star Trek V: The Final Frontier"was an unutterable turkey, totally unconvincing on a number of levels. This book, while remaining true to the movie in most major plot points, varying only in minor detail, nonetheless manages to be a great deal more plausible and internally consistent, both with itself and with the established Star trek universe as a whole. The characterization is better, the plot flows more smoothly and makes more sense, and several details that were completely implausible in the movie are at least arguable here, if not completely acceptable. The book is quite enjoyable on a simple action-story level, and on deeper levels it is at least as good as most Star Trek stories, better than some if also not as good as others.
Definitely recommended for any"Trek"fans who would like to see the movie version turned into a viable story, and if you actually liked the movie, there's nothing here not to like.』
(Better than the Movie) 『Star Trek V, the Novel, is much better than the movie. There is so much more depth and adventure that the movie really shows that it was cut up pretty badly in post production. Even though this is one of the weakest of the Star Trek movies, it is still great reading!』 『On the planet Nimbus III, a harsh world deep in the neutral zone, the three major powers -- Federation, Klingon, and Romulan -- attempt a revolutionary cooperative program, jointly developing the planet as an experiment in peace. But that makes Nimbus III an irresistible target for terrorists, who seize control of the planet, and theEnterpriseTM is sent on a daring mission of rescue. And soon Kirk and his crew find themselves on a much more dangerous and disturbing journey, to the center of the galaxy and the forbidden secrets it holds.』

(An Awesoe Guid) 『This guide is a wonderful thing, its especially made for beginners but heres the thing, by the time you've been through this guide at what EVER level, you won't need it and it WILL become a reference. THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT A BAD GUIDE! The thing is, MMO games are EVER EXPANDING and the programmers try to get rid of things like, in game currency sellers, which makes some of the quests change. People have given this guide bad reviews because some quests are innacurrate or different, well THATS BECAUSE OF THE UPDATES MAKE MINOR CHANGES TO DISCOURAGE REAL MONEY TRADE AND IS EXACTLY WHY NO NEW GUIDES HAVE COME OUT, SO STOP COMPLAINING!!!
This guide is invaluable on the quest and mission information it give. Even though many updates have taken place, this guide will still help you get going very well. But if you want to play this game TALK TO PEOPLE, or you will never advance. Many of the complaints are that this guide only helps up to about levels 30-50. By the time you reach those levels you should have made friends that can help you advance and you should know the learning curve, and if you do not, you should not be playing mmorpg games because you are basically still playing solo. Playing with tons of people is what mmo games are based on. Well except for WoW which is more based on making the individual players ego bigger by playing like a single player game. IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU! This guide is more about teaching you the basics but its still nice to have a quick reference as opposed to browsing the internet. This guide will not answer EVERY question in the game as more than 3 expansions have been released since the guide came out. But it is a great reference book to have.』
(Final Fantasy online helper) 『Gives good information, but disappointed there aren't better details on objects.』
(Outdated but useful in some ways) 『This book is not even in print anymore. There are three expansion packs out now. This book only covers the first one (Rise of the Zilart) and does not cover Chains of Promathia or Treasures of Aht Urghan at all. It is useful to newbs who are trying to find their way around the game, but there is nothing in this book that cannot be found on the internet if you just search for it. There are numerous sites that contain much more useful information (Such as allakhazam) but the problem with them is that the way this game is written, you cannot Alt-tab out of it to view another web page. Once you are in the game, you have to exit it to access any other programs on your pc (I play pc version exclusively....this doesn't apply to PS2 or X-Box players). 』
(there is an updated verison) 『because online games such as these change on a regular basis, this particular book is out of date as a newer version has been issued. also since there is another expansion for teh final fantasy 11 game called Chains of Permathia, another version, probably called fall 2004 will probably be released soon.』 『

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A 1/2 Review...Final Fantasy VI!) 『For years, I have heard two things (and I will avoid numerals for this review...). One...that Final Fantasy 7 was the best Final Fantasy and had the best Final Fantasy villain. Two...that Final Fantasy 6 was the best Final Fantasy and had the best Final Fantasy villain. This is where I've found that there are three camps of Final Fantasy fans (although it applies to most RPGs, but I'm sticking with this series for right now.).
Camp 1: The Old School Die Hard---these fans tend to love the originals because of their nostalgic value, medieval setting, and more majestic storylines. Camp 2: The Next Generation Die Hard---these fans tend to love the later entries because of their showcasing of technology, dark/bleak setting (a la Blade Runner), and innovative systems like limit breaks and materia. Camp 3: The Die Hard Final Fantasy Fan (what'd ya think I was going to say?)---these fans tend to respect and love all the games, and maybe dislike just one or two but whose reasons have no relation to Camps 1 and 2.
Obviously, Camp 1 will often claim Final Fantasy 6 or 9 as the best entry (maybe even 4), while Camp 2 will very, very likely claim that 7 is the best. Camp 3 is mixed, although I've found a few of those happen to like the third game the best.
As much as I respect and enjoy Final Fantasy 7, I gravitate towards the first camp because that's the style that I grew up on. I like swords, sorcery, and high stakes. I keep an open mind, but a game like Final Fantasy 4 or Chrono Trigger is like a soldier returning home for me. Anyways, without further explanation, here's my review for Final Fantasy 6.
This game has a very complex plot and despite its totally separate storyline from 7, it is a wonderful lead-in for that game. The world has previously gone through a horrific "War of the Magi" in which the Espers' powers were misused and brought great destruction (Espers are Summons, essentially). The Espers were given free will but their powers were sealed, never again to be used by man. The main character, essentially, is Terra (or Tina, depending on the translation you're playing), a half-Esper/half-human that went through excruciating circumstances before taking control of her life. There's a slew of characters you meet in the entire game; Locke is a treasure hunter with the Steal technique. Edgar is the king of Figaro, an engineer, and twin brother of Sabin. Sabin had forsaken his royal heritage to study Martial Arts. Celes is a former imperial soldier who also has Esper powers due to their experiments on her (and can absorb magic through her swords). Cyan was the king of Doma, a kingdom of Samurai, and he seeks revenge on Kefka. There's also Shadow, a ninja with a mysterious past and has a dog named Interceptor that aids him when he needs it. There are other memorable characters that include Setzer (a gambler) and a feral child named Gau, but I'll leave you to discover the others (preferably by playing the game, but I suppose I can't stop you from Wikipedia-ing it).
Although it appears Emperor Gestahl is the main villain in the beginning, our main antagonist is Kefka. While other villains like Sephiroth (7) and Kuja (9) have interesting motives, Kefka has my stamp of approval for being the absolute best villain in the series. I've got three reasons why.
1. He is the most ruthless villain in the series. He wipes out the entire kingdom of Doma by poisoning the water (including Cyan's family), captures the Esper god statues and unleashes terror, and shows unconditional contempt for the good qualities in humanity. He turns on his emperor in the blink of an eye, hungry for the power of the Espers. 2. He is one of the goofiest tyrants I've ever seen in a video game. Before he marches off to Figaro, he orders his soldiers to wipe the sand from and off his boots (Figaro is in the desert). He also torments Cyan for his misfortune, repeatedly laughing in his face. When the heroes confront him before the final battle, he says HATE HATE HATE over and over and over again, shaking his fists in an anime-sort of way. He also has that funny laugh that makes its way into Chrono Trigger. 3. He has one of the coolest boss themes in any video game, period.
The game takes on a late industrial/western feel to it, largely in part to the artists and Nobou Uematsu's variant score. Uematsu hit a bullseye in scoring this puppy; from Terra's slow, journeyman-like theme to Shadow's spaghetti western-style theme, to some of the catchiest battle music you've ever heard in your life, to the ragtime/opera suites in the more artsy sections of the game...the music score overall is perhaps Uematsu's most diverse music that I've ever heard in a video game. There are majestic moments that will remind you of Final Fantasies 4 or 9, but here is where the two camps merge into one. Magic is dying out in the storyline, and the music reflects that.
Awesome music, adventorous map (there's two "worlds" by the way, play and find out...), complex plot, interesting characters (ALL of them having a unique skill) and the ability to have up to four fighting at once, innovative battle systems (there's three points in the game where you split your characters into two or three teams, depending on where you are in the game, and you can switch between them and fight a lot of battles), gameplay longevity without ever getting boring...I have not found any fault in this game, and while I do find it to be a long game, it does have a replay value to it.
So who do I recommend this to? Because of its difficulty level (which isn't impossible, but it may be troublesome if you've never played an RPG before), I might suggest trying Final Fantasies 4 or 7 first, but if you happen to be in the third camp that loves both of those games, I guarantee that you will enjoy this game. It is the perfect lead-in to Final Fantasy 7 by aesthetics and setting alone, and I can't think of a better way to intrigue both the medieval Fantasy fans and the more modern Fantasy fans. I also guarantee that you will love the characters and love their backstories.
Saddle up, turn on the nostalgic dial, grab your weapon of choice, and march into battle for one of the greatest adventures that Squaresoft (er, Square Enix...) has to offer. I see no reason why you would dislike this game. Perhaps the best Final Fantasy game in existence, with FF4 and FF9 in close proximity and FF7 following those.
Recommendations: 1. Chrono Trigger (classic SNES game) 2. Super Mario RPG (SNES, the perfect beginner's RPG) 3. Final Fantasy 4 (worthy RPG for the first-time fan) 4. Castlevania Symphony of the Night (a combination of classic RPG elements and Super Metroid-style gameplay)』 『Collectors Edition Includes Limited Edition Bonus Soundtrack CD.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Its fun if you have a good computer) 『i have a good computer and i played it and its fine i spent all of my allowance and it was fun for a while then when i finish it it got boring』
(Love FFVII, hate this version (2.5 stars)) 『I saw Advent Children and immediately fell in love with it. I wanted to play Final Fantasy VII, but at the time didn't have a PS1 or PS2. So I bought the PC version as a quick and relatively cheap alternative, and now I kind of regret it.
First off, it does NOT run right on windows xp. It is EXTREMELY buggy on my xp machine. There are patches out there to fix the bugs, but having to install patches makes the game no fun. The bugs detract from this amazing game.
The game itself is great and all there, and I love it to death. But the version is terrible. I have fun playing it when it's not acting up, but when it does, I'm ready to throw it out the window. The music sounds awful on my computer speakers (so laptop users beware). And the controls are a nightmare. I installed the game on my laptop before I realized that all of the controls are on the number pad, which a laptop of course does not have. So I had to spend another $16 on a USB keyboard. That allowed me to control the character, but the controls are still a real pain and hard to master. Half of the time I have to press two buttons at the same time (I wish I had a joystick), and going up a ladder is challenging. The controls alone turned my friend off to this version.
This game is DEFINITELY NOT worth $140! I bought it for $50, and it wasn't worth that! Installation was kind of a pain (I had to get my computer-savvy friend to help me), and overall, it is a real disappointment. Now that I have a PS2, I am going to fork out the money and buy the PS1 version (used), and I would advise everyone to do the same. Unless you have a spare Windows 95 machine kicking around, this game is too buggy to be worth the money (especially since I've heard that some of the bugs and glitches later on prohibit game play). I hate to buy this game twice, especially since it's so much money. But I'd rather buy the PS1 version than stick through this buggy mess.』
(DO Not Buy) 『BEWARE game does not run properly on anything newer than Win XP pre service pack 2. Most of the patches do not really fix the problems. Second Win 95 through ME are no longer supported or sold by Microsoft so drivers are impossible. Square Enix (Squaresoft) no longer support these games and will not help you neither will EA or Edios. I have tried to get this game running for 6 weeks and still no luck and none of the companies above will return my call. This game should be taken off the market and companies selling it should be sued under the lemon law as they all know this game is no longer supported and will not work with about 98% of the computers out there. By the way don't fall for running it on a virtual Machine. I have tried them all with the same out come. They dont have directdraw support or there are sound issues that are not repairable or any number of other issues.』
(Good game but bad edition) 『If I recall Correctly, EA used to distribute games for Squaresoft in SE asia, so it might be possible that this version is genuine. However BEWARE because this version doesn't work with Windows XP and Vista as well as with recent videocards.』
(nothing like the psx version) 『ill admit that i love the game. but if youve played the japanses verion and then play the american u will know what i am talking about. if you havent played either then dont read cause i will ruin the game.

if u just wanna get the basic's of the game then by all means get this one. but if u want the extended version with all the fun crap gl i dont know if there is one on the pc so ur best bet is to get the psx version.』
