(Phase 6 of "Final Fantasy", a nice collection of anime.)
『I had to purchase the next phase to keep my collection going. Artwork getting better.』

(Interesting beginning, get more interesting moving forward, disappointing ending)
『I have been a Final Fantasy fan since version 1 of the game came out for the NES. I played through all the other FF games and loved each and one of them. Just because they are amazing developing games, it does not mean that they would do well developing movies or anime.

I got the movies through Netflix so I can watch them with my kids when I get home from work and relax. In the beginning of the story, it gave some scenes of war and destruction. The startoff was slow and have some mysteries like who is the adult woman hanging around with the two kids and who is the man with tha ma gun that always seems to show up when they are in trouble. It is very interesting to see what kind of summon comes out of the ma gun on pretty much every single episode, but the summoning takes like 10 minutes. Most of the creatures seems to be from FF7.

As the series go on, it reveal more information about some of the main characters. Toward the end, the plot is revealed but yet the end is disappointing because the watchers are wondered "what happened". It is like going to a roller coaster ride where right toward the end, it just stop and everybody get off.

I originally got the first DVD from the Block Buster bargain bin, and that should have been a flag that this is not really that good. Watch it if you have time to kill, otherwise you might be better off watching other anime like Full Metal Alchemists, Kenshin, etc.

(The Final Fatasy Games Maybe Great Bud Sadly This Anime Isn't)
『I bought this set during the X-mas sale online and for $20 dollars I felt it was an o.k. price but after seeing the series through I feel I'm now going to sale this to a movie store. I know the series focused mostly on the two children trying to find their parents but I also thought there would either be some cameos from characters of the games are have some references to the game worlds, sadly there was neither and the animation while not horrible wasn't anything to be proud of either. The voice actors for the Japanese cast did do a great job for their character roles sadly the dubbed English voice cast while not the worst of the lot leave a lot to be desired. Also again with some anime you just don't really feel any empathy for most of these characters, if one was killed or hurt so what? The storyline itself isn't to bad and if you've never played the games and are looking for a unique anime here's a decent one, but if you have played the game and are looking for some kid of reference to the games or game characters you'll be sadly disappointed. So at the end is this series worth getting will that's up to the person themselves, if you're looking for a fantasy anime with magical battles this might pique your interest, but if you're a longtime Fina Fantasy gamer you most likely want to just pass this series over....』

(Found It)
『I had been looking for this disc every where. I couldn't find it on any of the more famous anime vendor websites, nor could I find it in any of my local anime stores. I can't believe that I was able to find this Disc on amazon.com. I happened upon it by chance while searching for other Final Fantasy products and now this will be the first place I look if I ever need a DVD.』

(Don't look for the Game Series in this series...)
『I understand what people have been saying about it not being what they expected. Expectations greatly influence how we perceive products to be. However, this series is incredible. Though it is sometimes cheesy, it manages to have just that right amount to make it wonderful. The music is great, and the characters hilarious. There is not much in common with the FF game series, but when you take this as a separate whole, it doesn't matter. This series is fun, entertaining, appropriate for all ages, and great, as long as you aren't expecting another "Advent Children" out of this.』
『Twelve-year-old twins Ai and Yu Hayakawa take a mysterious subway to Wonderland to look for their missing scientist-parents. Wonderland is a hostile place, ruled by the petulant Earl Tyrant and his assorted hench-creatures. Ai and Yu are attacked by monsters and saved first by Lisa, a practitioner of the "Kigen Arts," then repeatedly by the taciturn, gun-totting Kaze. The first episodes are cluttered with characters who appear briefly then vanish. Although Ai, Yu, and Lisa do a lot of traveling, the series doesn't really go anywhere: the filmmakers seem more interested in showcasing the elaborate CG effects at their disposal than in coherent storytelling. The effects are very flashy, but they never meld satisfactorily with the drawn animation. Based on the popular videogame franchise,Unlimitedborrows from Matsumoto'sGalaxy Expressand Miyazawa'sGalactic Railroad, but offers none of their mystery and magic. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Not bad-they may want to consider doing this as a movie...)
『Final Frontier is one of the better Star Trek novels that I've read. It's a shame that it wasn't consulted more closely when the newer Star Trek television series were written, as it closes a few loopholes in the Star Trek chronology (and probably opens a few others). Nevertheless, this is worthwhile reading. My only complaint is that some of the major events near the end of the book perhaps don't get the detailed descriptions that they deserve, which is a little disappointing, since if they had been fleshed out more, this title would have truly been deserving of a movie production.』

(Father and sons)
『When James T. Kirk entered Star Fleet he was following in his father's footsteps. George Kirk had served on a space station in the early days of the Federation, an assignment that put a strain on his marriage and caused him to be away from his sons most of the time. He kept in contact with them through letters, letters that his youngest son kept. When Jim Kirk was re-evaluating his life and the price of a career in Star Fleet he returned to his family home in Iowa and re-read those letters to decide if the price was too high.

FINAL FRONTIER switches between two story lines, James Kirk's visit to Iowa occurs shortly after the events of 'The City on the Edge of Forever', Kirk is depressed at the loss of Edith Keeler. He is seeking the advice of his father through the letters George had written the boys 25 years ealier. The second story line is about George's life at the time he wrote those letters while on a classified mission abroad the ship that would become Enterprise.

For avid fans of the series this is a treasure trove of background information about the Kirk family and the beginnings of Star Fleet. For more casual fans though it is not as interesting since there is very little real action for the more familiar characters of (James) Kirk, McCoy and Spock. Carey does handle the characters well, and is respectful of the 'canon' laid down by the original TV shows.』

(An excellent prequel to much of the Star Trek original series storyline)
『This book is the prequel to the Star Trek saga, the career of James Tiberius Kirk, Star Fleet, the United Federation of Planets as it existed in the original series, the battles with the Romulans and the magnificent starship known as the Enterprise. James Kirk is on shore leave in Iowa and questioning whether he should go back into space. He is reading some letters written to him by his father George Kirk, who was a military man in space. Those letters express regret for not spending enough time with Jimmy and his brother and it appears that George may be about to give up the life of the space adventurer.
The story then moves to the adventures of George Kirk. A ship has become disabled and given the distance and the ion storms in the area, there seems to be no hope of rescue. However, the Federation has been working on a new class of ships, the mighty starship, and the prototype is ready for action. Kirk and his friend Drake are kidnapped and taken aboard the new and unnamed ship. The current captain is Robert April, a good man but probably not an effective prototype for a star ship captain.
The new ship moves out and immediately fails. Kirk is suspicious and suspects sabotage. Suddenly the warp drive malfunctions and they find themselves in the middle of Romulan space very close to the Romulan home world. There is a Romulan ship nearby but it is rife with political infighting. A dictatorship led by the Praetor has taken control and the Romulans are about to launch an invasion of Federation space. This is after the Romulan-human wars mentioned in the episode "Balance of Terror" so it appears that a new interstellar war is about to break out.
The task of the star ship is to somehow extricate itself from the dilemma and prevent the new war. Fortunately, Kirk is able to "capture" the Romulan commander, a man with beliefs similar to those of the Mark Lenard character in "Balance of Terror." While he will do his duty to the Empire, he has no desire for war. Within those bounds, he helps the crew of the star ship defeat the Romulan forces and trick them into believing that the Federation has cloaking technology and is ready to crush the Romulan forces ready to invade Federation space. The trick is very similar to that used by James Kirk in the episode, "The Deadly Years."
This is an excellent story, Carey provides believable prequels to many plot devices that we encounter in later episodes. Unfortunately, we never do learn why James Kirk was given the middle name "Tiberius."

(Possible Romulan first contact?)
『In "The City on the Edge of Forever", onee of the best-loved original Star Trek episodes, Spock and Capt. Kirk have to prevent a drug-crazed Dr. McCoy from saving a woman from being struck by a car in 1930's Earth---a woman Kirk ends up falling in love with. This novel begins by picking up where that episode leaves off.

Kirk, now seriously debating whether or not he should resign his Starfleet commission, takes shore leave on Earth where he manages to take comfort in letters from his father, Commander George Samuel Kirk Sr.

But these letters are more than just conversations between father and son. They contain clues to the mystery of one of Starfleet's most highly classified first contact missions that went horribly wrong...and at the same time made the Enterprise truly worthy of her name, twenty-five years before Kirk would assume command.

I gave this book four stars because it isn't the easiest Star Trek read in the world, since you have to wade through a lot of "background" or "historical" information to get to some of its most important points, but it is very well written; I enjoy it mostly for the great amount lot of insight given to the character of Jim's father, and what the Enterprise might have been like as an unmarked, unregistered, completely brand new Starfleet prototype. I have only one negative: George Kirk's befriending of the Romulan Field Primus t'Cael adds good drama, but it doesn't quite gel with the idea that eventually the Romulans and the Federation would go to war, which would lead to the creation of the Neutral Zone (see classic episode "Balance of Terror"), but it's still a good book.』

(The First Enterpise)
『Diane Carey's"Final Frontier"has to be a must read for any fan of the original series. It tells the first story of the Enterprise before it acquired it's legendary name. Under the captaincy of Robert April; George Kirk (Jim's father) embarks on the test run of the infamous ship. The adversary in this one is the Romulans. We get a glimpse of their uncompromising world of political treachery within their own ranks. This one is everything the new prequel series should be. Alive with interesting characters that act like real humans; unlike some of the Starfleet members we've seen on TV in the show Voyager. If there is any book that needs a reprinting it's this one.』
『Commander George Samuel Kirk was aboard the Enterprise under the command of Captain Robert April before his famous son was born. Starfleet has just been founded and the Enterprise has just been built, and is sent on its first mission. The mission takes the Enterprise into the heart of hostile Romulan territory, where cosmopolitical machinations and advanced weapons technology will decide the fate of a hundred innocent worlds.』

(dangerous!)
『This is an excellent adventure. It is very different to others of it's era in that the PCs are expected to do a reconaissance mission rather than just kill everything in sight. The PCs have to map the lair of a tribe of Sahaugin who have occupied and altered the former home of a tribe of Lizardmen (who were met in the previous adventure, U2 - 'Danger at Dunwater'). The Sahaugin are planning to wipe out the town of Saltmarsh (module U1 - 'Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh') and the PCs have to map the lair in preparation for the assault later.

I played this game years ago with my cousin and we were just blown away how one room had like 64 Sahaugin in it each with claw/claw/bite attacks... We didn't know how we could possibly kill them all!

I recently found a module 'night of the shark' that was written for 2nd edition rules. With a tiny bit of tweaking it makes an excellent sequel to U3 and you can wipe out even more of the Sahaugin and pick up some cool loot. I highly recommend both modules.』

(Spectacular end to the classic Greyhawk trilogy)
『The final chapter in the Saltmarsh series continues the legacy of grim, dangerous adventure (for thinking players only!) with this well-plotted, intense foray into the lair of the Sahuagin! The overmatched heroes (levels 3-5) will find themselves in an horrific underwater adventure that plays more like an espionage movie than an AD&D adventure - flashing blades and spells will get them all killed in a matter of minutes. Instead, they need to skulk through the ruins learning everything that they can, in the desperate hope they might return with enough information for the hopelessly overpowered Saltmarsh militia to save them from inevitable destruction.』

(Lots of Information, but Not Very Useful)
『I own all of the published FF6 guides, and I have to say that this one is my least favorite. While it contains some interesting facts, such as a timeline of events that took place before the game and facts about each character's personality, it relies heavily on the Japanese version.

However, the main drawback to this guide is not the quirky translation but the dated style. It is black and white and mostly text, like some other guides from the 80s and early 90s. The maps are hand-drawn outlines that are too general to be useful.』

(fifa 2001 vs I.S.S pro evolution 2)
『Me and a few friends were board one weekend and so we decided to compare the two of them and here is what we found out. Fifa 2001 has very realistic garphics and the players look very real and they look quite like the real players unfortunately for the people at E.A Sports Productions this is the only area in wich it beats I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 and this is only because the graphics on I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 are ot up to standard and do not look very realistic. The gameplay on Fifa 2001 is slow, it reacts slow and is not able to perform through ball very well were as I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 gameplay is quicker, more responsive, it performs moves better and in our opinion is of a higher quality than Fifa 2001. The lifespan of both games is short and though both games are shortlived Fifa 2001 still will not last you as long as I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 and also the refs on Fifa 2001 are not of a very high standardas they give away free kicks and penalties for what if you look at closly on the instant replay the player gets the ball first and hardly even touches the player the refs also do not allow sufficient time to be played on after a fowl so you can score and you will only recive a free kick for your troubles. The sound quality on both games are quite good but are nothing special. VERDICT Fifa 2001 I.S.S Pro Evolution 2 Graphics 8/10 Graphics 5/10 Sound 5/10 Sound 5/10

Gameplay 4/10 Gameplay 8/10 Lifespan 2/10 Lifespan 4/10 Over all 5/10 Over all 7/10 so if you are in the market for a football sim the only choise from us would be I.S.S Pro Evolution. L. Shelmerdine and friends.』

(Interesting...)
『The main problem with this book is the translation -- the names given here for weapons/armour/etc. are different than the names used in the official translation of the game. Given this, it may be quite difficult to find what you are looking for. The maps are also quite difficult to follow.

However, if you're a true fan of the game, you'll find interest in the character and story information, and for that the book is well worth the search.』

(The WORST)
『Where to start? This is the WORST guide I have ever seen. It gives no info on any secrets. It's in black and white. It makes up info on the characters. Judging from the thickness you would think it was quite detailed, but in reality it just gave statistics of monsters and listed the towns. Dreadful to read. This was a huge wart on the toe of game guides everywhere.』

(The worst Guide in the History of Mankind)
『I'm not even going to waste my time and give a reveiw, it is plain horrible.』

(One of the best soundtracks EVER!!!)
『This soundtrack marked a before and an after in the game music. Not to be missed』

(The Best Yet!)
『I got this Soundtrack for Xmas and I'm still to this day listening to all of the tracks. It one of the best Soundtracks I have! A Great listen over and over again! I am impressed.』

(Classic Soundtrack to the great game.)
『First thing, let me say that this is not the sort of music I would normally listen to, I mainly listen to Hip-Hop so this is a bit of a departure from that. I was familiar with the music because I am a massive fan of all the Final Fantasy games, in particular VII, which I view as the best game of all time. I had fond memories of all the music from the game particularly Jenova and Sephiroth's themes and the Weapon music, it was an amazing atmospheric soundtrack.

Fast forward to 2005 and while browsing the net, I find a fairly cheap copy of the soundtrack, decided to pick it up and didn't regret it at all. I instantly remembered nearly every song on here, and it brought back memories of certain events in the game, so much that I decided to play through the game again. Anyone who owns or owned Final Fantasy VII, and has great memories of the music should buy this, fantastic soundtrack to the greatest game.』

(One of the greatest soundtracks ever)
『...to one of the greatest games ever made. If you've played Final Fantasy VII, you know the emotion that the music invokes for the game. It is just as necessary as every other component to complete this amazing game. Uematsu is one of the most creative and interesting composers and always has been for nearly two decades.

This album actually is totally listenable away from the game (say, in your car) as you can equate different songs with the different memorable moments from the game. Yes, they are that memorable. Everything from happiness, anger, sorrow, thrills and battles... Uematsu takes you there, and this is a prime example.』

(Doesn't get much better than this)
『Rating: A+
The Final Fantasy series has always had the highest production values of any game series on the market, and part 7 does not stumble in the least bit, as overall this truly is one of the most memorable and classic soundtracks in the history of videogames. From the theme to Cosmo Canyon, to Sephiroth's theme each track is infused with well done melodies that compliment the overall aura of the game and bring you right back to the moment when you originally played this classic game. Nobuo Uematsu is a master musician and composer and has such a huge trackrecord of games that he has worked on that it was no wonder that he was the head of this project; what is amazing is that each track has such a different flavor to it and perfectly fits the mood of each scene in the game. For example, how can anyone of us forget the first time we saw Aeris die (sorry to spoil the plot, but come on now this game is like almost 10 years old), and how much of an impact that scene had on our life, and how it is burned in our memories to this day. Overall this is such a classic album spanning across four discs that no true hardcore FF fan should be without. This soundtrack will always be remembered as the first FF on PS1, that ushered in the cinematic era of videogames, and brought new meaning and emotions into the characters of the game.』

(Final Fantasy XII)
『The Final Fantasy XII music is awesome, and so is this 4-CD box set. I would suggest this soundtrack to not just fans of Final Fantasy or those who enjoy Final Fantasy XII, but anyone who enjoys good, instrumental music. This soundtrack has 100 songs on it (spread out over 4 CDs). The songs are listed in Japanese, but the only singing song ("Kiss Me Good-Bye") is sung in English. Also, if you are expecting a square box, it actually comes in a rectangular box, and does not have the same cover as is shown (at least if you buy it from the seller that sells it the cheapest, fantasy_music). However, it is still the same 4-CD box set, with all of the great songs on it.』

(Final Fantasy soundtrack worthy of Mr. Uematsu's caliber)
『This is the best sampling of the enviornments in FFXII. You hear the sounds and swear you are in the Rabanastre streets. I instantly loved the CDs and copied them so i would not scratch the originals. Highly recommend getting the soundtrack if you ar a fan of FF soundtracks.』

(Actually didn't think I'd be leaving this review...)
『When I heard Nobuo Uematsu was resigning from the Final Fantasy project, I, like everyone, was downhearted. Add to that the major disaster of the Final Fantasy 10 soundtrack that sounded like the two new composers were simultaneously fighting Nobuo's input and trying to be the next Nobuo... it was not even pleasant to listen to.

So when I heard Sakimoto was going to write 12, instead of Nakano and Hamauzu, I was really actually excited. I loved the soundtrack to Tactics and Vagrant Story, they were a bit abstract but fit the dark brooding landscapes perfectly. Not in-your-face appropriate, like Nobuo, but subtle.

However, that's where FFXII doesn't cut it. Sakimoto is a great song writer in his own right, but he didn't adapt to the FF realm as well as he had the old Square PS games. The orchestral pieces are bombastic and overwrought, with very few "hook" elements that made FF music so wonderful. The main offender is the battle music (the final boss music is more like a crash of percussion and fakey sounding strings than a song), and big scenematic scenes. It has a tendency to push towards "MOVIE SOUNDTRACK!!" rather than intimate emotional music.

That being said, I was tempted to leave a four star review b/c it's nowhere near the disaster that was FFX, it's listenable as mere background music, and it's his first major Final Fantasy project. So I hope to see great things from Sakimoto in the future (I don't know who square-enix has in mind for FFXIII...?). Specifically, the looping thematic music like "Ashe's Theme" and "Ozmone Plains" are a leap in the right direction. It's just unfortunate that the rest of the music holds it back from being a memorable FF album.』

(Some good tracks, but too much filler)
『The major shortcoming of this soundtrack is its arrangement. It tries to incorporate every tiny musical clip from the game, many of which are simply not well-suited to listening outside the context of the game. Aside from this, the selection is fairly varied and interesting, with some genuinely nice tracks. In these, although the sound is certainly different from Uematsu's, it isn't worse.

One major complaint for me (the reason I gave this 3 stars rather than 4), is that the 'Ozmone' plain track is significantly different from the in-game version. I bought the OST primarily to listen to a few tracks, and this was one of them. The in-game version is great, and I enjoyed listening to it. The soundtrack version seems to be played in an entirely different key, and is mixed very poorly, to the point where the melody becomes obscured.』

(The adage of bigger ain't always better)
『Much like Final Fantasy X altered some aspects to the gameplay (in-battle character changes, the sphere system), Final Fantasy XII did a pretty big overhaul as well with a real-time/ATB-style battle system and the other big notable change was Hitoshi Sakimoto of FF Tactics and Vagrant Story fame to do the soundtrack as opposed to series mainstay Nobuo Uematsu. Some were wondering how the change would alter the games and one can say pretty significantly since, while fine music in its own right, it doesn't really define the game and its environments so much as it offers a musical backing for it which Uematsu always knew how to do.

One word that you can use to describe Sakimoto's work here is "epic". The arrangements and instruments used give it a more grandiose nature which Uematsu at times didn't use, save on arranged albums and pieces like Liberi Fatali. While a bigger sounding soundtrack, its more bombastic arrangements come at the expense of melodies. There's not a lot to hum here and while some tracks are very pleasing to the ear or in some cases, like boss battle themes, very massive sounding, they're just not catchy and many times you almost forget some of the arrangements after listening.

That's not to say there's nothing of value on here. The "Loop Demo" which is essentially the Crystal theme is the best arrangement I've heard and boss battles like "Esper Battle", "Clash of Swords" and "Battle for Freedom" in particular are epic in scope and sound then even One Winged Angel or Summoned Beast Battle were but without the identifiable melodies that made those other tracks so memorable. There's also some upbeat tracks like "Penelo's Theme" and "The Skycity of Bhujerba" to eerie tracks like "The Sochen Cave Palace" and "To the Place of the Gods" with choir and more ambient textures.

The soundtrack for Final Fantasy XII is kind of a double-edged sword since this is probably one of the most epic and powerful game soundtracks I've heard but turning it off, I can't remember any of it except the feeling I was blown away by the sound. So that's just the key: walk in and if you can listen with open minds (not to mention a kick-*** stereo), you'll find a pleasing soundtrack.』
