(Super fast delivery!)
『I ordered this product and had it sitting in my mail box 3 days later--it's incredible how fast they got this to me! It was in great shape--I've already checked it out and it runs perfectly. All in all I am a satisfied customer and would shop from this person again! Great job and greatly appreciated!』

(Greatest XBOX 360 RPG)
『While the original XBOX was known for some great cult hit RPGs, the 360 has been vastly lacking in exclusives. We've had Oblivion, which ran much smoother on PS3 and PC, Fallout 3, which suffered a similar fate, and Fable 2, which wasn't nearly as good as everyone had hoped. Let me make one thing clear: Lost Odyssey is the best adult RPG on the XBOX 360.

The games graphics were incredible, I know it sounds cliched, but within the first half hour alone their were two times that I didnt know I was supposed to start playing after a cutscene. I just stared at the screen waiting for more. The graphics are really that good.

The sound is incredible, from every step Kaim takes to the sound of a sword slicing through flesh to the tiny clank of mail rubbing against each other, the sound is incredible. The soundtrack also has a reminiscent feel to it, really taking you to theyre world.

Gameplay, which people argue is its weakest point, in my opinion is its best. This game was developed by the original designer of Final Fantasy. It plays like every turn based RPG should. Anyone who complains about this is an idiot; its not the games fault, its yours. Don't buy a turn based RPG if you dont LIKE turn based RPGs! Regardless, I have to legitimately say, this game is the best turn based RPG ever. Ive played every kind, from Final Fantasy, to Wild Arms, to .Hack, Ive played them all. This is the epitome of the genre.

Story wise, dont even try. Ive played alot of good games, some which I really do believe are better than this. But as a grown man, I am not ashamed to say this: This game made me cry. I won't go any further. Thats all you need to know. It really is that good.

If you have a 360, do yourself a favor and buy this game. It is so cheap nowadays, and it is the only multi-disc game on 360, which must say something. Its huge. Your fifteen bucks will keep you entertained for months.』

(A beautiful, affecting addition to this generation's rpg library)
『Lost Odyssey is an amazing game, and a throwback to traditional JRPGs in the vein of Final Fantasy. The game's characterizations are fantastic, and its premise lends itself well as a new take on the amnesiac hero. The story of Lost Odyssey is deeply affecting; it is both full of action and laced with soft, tender moments. These moments come from the interactions of characters with one another, as well as when certain events unlock memories told through poetic short stories that are accompanied by music and dreamscape-like pictures. The action comes from random encounters and boss fights, which require strategy, forethought, and skill. All of these elements meld together really well, and create a wondrous story-driven adventure. As long as you don't come in expecting a rpg like Mass Effect or Fallout 3 (both great, of course : ), and are prepared for an often slow, but always rewarding tale, you will most likely enjoy this game.』

(Great game, with TINY on-screen words)
『I liked this game overall. (Of course, I've never played any of
the Final Fantasy games to compare it to - as some who complain
about it here seem prone to do. If you are going to play a game
&compare it to another one you really liked, it will always come up
short.) The graphics&storyline are good, as are the scenes that play. Very interesting to watch. The characters get more interesting as the game progresses&you learn more about them.

It does take some time to get into&understand the story though.
I noticed most of the bad reviews here were from those who quit playing the game early. If they had continued, they could have
enjoyed it. After all, that is the fun part of RPGs,
finding out what happens next&completing the story.

The major irritants&the reason I did not give it a top rating are: Why did they make the writing/words SO SMALL? It is really hard to read. Especially the dreams.
The dreams, btw, while interesting stories, with the exception
of Seth's and Ming's, are not necessary. They only flesh out the experience of the main character's long life. Of course you may enjoy them. I found them distracting for the most part when I wanted to play the game. But you do have the option of skipping through
them fast&going back to read them at a later time.
Next, the same boring music/scene that is played during
battle load time gets old really fast. Should have been shorter
&maybe some alternative sound.
The dress of the female characters could have been better. Queen
Ming looks like a hooker. And why all the big exposed boobs on
ALL the women?

(Finally!!!!!!)
『It is about time someone comes out with a game that is similar to the old final fantasy games. The best part about this game is the turn-based combat scenerios. All the new Final Fantasy games coming out now have the new real-time battle sequences instead of the more relaxed and strategic turn-based ones. Although I do enjoy the real-time battle, this game excels above all because of the stunning graphics and artistry. On top of that it is a long and involving game that will keep you entertained for hours. I strongly recommend you buy this game if you enjoy the Final Fantasy series.』

(A return to fun, with a few hiccups.)
『I recently bought a Playstation 2 to play all the Final Fantasies I had been missing out on (and the ones that didn't make it to PC port). Final Fantasy XII was just one of the many games I am playing through. I am an avid Final Fantasy fan and although somewhat jaded by the previous single player entry in the series: Final Fantasy X (and its lackluster sequel, Final Fantasy X-2), I am happy to report that Final Fantasy XII is a true return to form with overall fun when playing through it.
Ther are good points and bad points to the game, but let's start out with the good. The brand new Active Dimension Battle System is a revolutionary way of fighting off monsters in a Final Fantasy game. It is truly a free-roaming world where you can explore and fight in real time without transfering to a battle screen. The monsters freely roam the countryside and if able can and will join the battle to take you down if you get close enough. Blue/red lines of intent clearly show your targets you are attacking and the characters being targeted by enemies. Not once was I confused as to what was going on in a battle.
To tag along with this battle system is the introduction of gambits. Its a collection of user-made actions that have fulfillment requirements for characters to act upon. For example, if your party leader is attacking a enemy target, you can set a gambit up to have other characters attack that same target, thus bringing an enemy down faster. If a character is weak in HP, you can set up a gambit that is higher in priority than the 'attack leader's target' and set the action to Cure or Potion. So in essence, if anyone gets below a certain HP amount, the cure action gambit takes precendence over attacking. With literally over 150+ gambit conditions and over 100+ different actions to take in any given situation, you can alter the gambit set of actions any way you want. Effectively making your team fight autonomously while you simply guide them around the map from battle to battle. Although you can exploit the system, making the game a bit easier, it is fun and a true guilty pleasure.
The graphics are great and its sheer awe on the amount of areas they crammed into this game for you to explore. Each area alone is made up of at least 6-7 huge size area maps, some taking minutes to walk from one end to the other. The game world is huge and sprawling and near the end, you literally have complete freedom to move about it as you choose.
The difficulty is just right as well, you are never left feeling too overpowered or ultimately too weak. The enemies you encounter both in the main quest and sidequests (as they open up), seem to be tailored to exactly your level and present a likewise challenge. Although getting some of the Esper summons early did seem to be a bit of a chore and almost dictated/forced the player to come back at a much later time to acquire them than they really needed to be. Buying equipment and items is also something that seems balanced. I never felt I had too much money, but I never really felt I was lacking it either. I did, however, feel that I had to be mindful and careful on what I spent my money on, and that's always a good design aesthetic in any game, forcing the player to use his own judgement on where to spend his hard-earned money!
Now for the weak sauce: The story and characters. If its one thing that this game fails epic at, its this. There is no in-depth, complex story filled with twists, turns or surprises. Its merely an invasion of one country into another to gain the upper hand against a much stronger country with the underlying intent to actually get access to some powerful stones called Nethicite which enables users to be like gods. It gets into other aspects like god-like creatures who have always watched over Ivalice, etc. But on the whole, the story plays out predictable and nothing really is unexpected.
The story also interferes with the gameplay a bit too little. There are long stretches of time where there is no story involvement at all, and you could be traveling the countryside for hours and start wondering: "What was I supposed to be doing next?" Not a good thing to ask in an RPG if the designers set up the story right.
The characters also never got fleshed out or developed very well. Sure, they have their basic personality and it truly seems Balthier and/or Ashe might have more to their characters than meets the eye. But nothing is ever touched upon or given much depth. There is no grand story arc for the entire group and its basically a bunch of goal-oriented people traveling together for the same reason. There isn't even much interaction between the group except at key story points. You play the game for the characters, and they just simply are not there, only hinted at.
The license system also ranks in as being a bit clunky. Its true that it really is a unique way of leveling up your character and his/her skills. But it really is set up awkwardly and is a offball way of preventing your characters from getting too powerful, too early. It works, nothing is saying that it doesn't, but its just odd to get some awesome weapon from a store, but no one can equip it because no one has it licensed yet nor has the points to do so. So you must sit on this awesome weapon until you kill enough enemies to get the license points to earn the right to use it. Its weird, it works, but its just something that could have been refined more.
Overall, this is a solid, fun, entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, but there are a few bumps in the road in terms of story telling. The last great story to come along was Final Fantasy IX, which has fully developed, and fully likeable characters. Regardless, its not a purchase I regret making and it truly is a pleasure to roam the countryside and explore, get loot, kill enemies and see if I can track down the elusive hunts and rare game. Its more Dungeons and Dragons in that sense than it is any Final Fantasy game. Despite all that, its still a worthy addition and definitely worth a look.』

(I just killed 50 wolves in a row. How exciting)
『SquareEnix(formerly SquareSoft) was often the leader in creating top of the line role-playing games. Not only were a majority of the games beautiful in their graphics, but the music and plot were superior to most other games in the genre. While Square still does well in the graphics department, all other aspects have dropped off considerably.

The original talent that made so many of the early Final Fantasies left after FFX and formed there own company.(There new company made Lost Odyssey for the Xbox360) The plot in FF12 is erratic to put it nicely. While the start of the game has a promising introduction, the plot takes a vacation about 5 hours into the game. For the remaining majority of the game you will be wandering around doing a lot of fighting and searching with very little plot advancement. While the plot does pick up again in the last 5 hours or so it is still very poorly developed.

Perhaps the weakness in the plot would have been less noticeable if the character development had been better. To be honest, I never grew to care about the characters in the 60+ hours I slogged threw the game. FFX didn't have the best plot either but the character development was top notch. You definitely cared about Yuna and Tidus.

I know many others have complained about the battle system but I didn't find it that bad. I liked how the gambits could speed the game up, yet you could turn them off if you wanted more control in the battle. The main complaint I have is the lack of different enemies. The game rewards you by dropping better loot if you kill the same type of enemy over and over. Since selling loot is the best way to get the hard to get gil in this game, you will be constantly killing the same enemies to get the chain reactions. I will admit, killing 50 wolves in a row is rather boring.

FF games are usually known for the decent variety of side quests they offer. FF12 has a huge monster hunting side quest game. You can read posts on bulletin boards and then you find the petitioner who tells you the monster they need killed. This is a fairly decent diversion, unfortunately some of them are so difficult that you need a strategy guide to tell you how to find the mark. I did enjoy the past FF card games and even Blitzball in FF10 more so than this.

One last thing before I break down individual scores for the game. Either get the Prima guide for this game or check out the FAQ sections on gamefaqs for help. In order to get the best weapon in the game you can't open certain treasure chests in the game.( whoever came up with this idea should be banned from making games)

While FF12 is a decent game, it is far from perfect. In many ways I believe the series is heading in the wrong direction.

Graphics: 10/10 For a Ps2 game they are top notch
Sound: 7/10 Decent music but not as good as other FF games
Story: 5/10 Starts well, but has huge pacing issues. Little character development
Fun Factor 6/10 Battles are fun but repetitive. Didn't have same charm as past FF games.
Replay Val 3/10 Perhaps if you didn't hunt many monsters the first time you played.

Overall: 6/10 Not a bad game, but I find it hard to believe most "pro" critics gave it perfect or near perfect scores. I wonder if it didn't have Final Fantasy on the title if it would have received the same praise? For those that love Role-playing games I say rent it to see if its your cup of tea. The ps2 has many games in this genre. To me, FF12 is somewhere in the middle of the pack.

(Simply addicting)
『Great game if you don't want to deal with all the stupid little kids shouting all day, getting your body camped for 3 hours straight and finding out that you wasted 800 hours getting all the epic gears only to find out that they're worthless now that the newest expansion just came out.

Even greater version to come out as FFIX (FF 14)』

(Worth The $13/Month!!!)
『Okay i was reading lots of review of this game and heard alot of false comments and statements that i want to clear up! Ive been playing Final Fantasy XI for about 9 months now, so I may know a lot more then people that play it for 2 months and give up, and write a crapy review about the game. Im in love with this game and its highly addicted, i all ways look forward to coming home to play FFXI. So here it goes.

First of...
~This game does take alot of commitment to play, i usually devote about 2 to 8 hours into the game. If i have 30 minutes to 1 hour to spare i wont even bothering getting on because i wont get anything done, unless im just getting on to screw around like PvP or Farm, but leveling up wise, you have to devote lots of time, this is the ONLY down side of the game.

Second...
~There is LOTS of Mob Grinding and fighting with parties between Lvls 10 to 60ish, but this greatly depends on you job class. Getting to lvl 10 is the worst, very boring and takes me about 3 days of about 3 hours a day, so thats about 10 hours. but its worth it becuase then you get to start fighting in parties! Partying is lots of fun and there is many Do'ss and Dont's, again depending on your job class. It does take a while to form a party, and this also depends on your job class and the time of day. Partying involves lots of strategy and if one person does something wrong, it could cost everyone. Partying is one of my favortie parts of the game, but can get a little boring after a while.

Next...
~You usually dont start doing quests until level 30 unless your 20 getting your chocobo, which does not take 5 to 6 hours!!! It takes an easy 4 hours but all you have to do is feed the chocobo one grass, turn off the game and wait an hour, turn it back on and feed another grass until you do four of them, so its not that bad. And this is the ONLY quest that is a pain, that i have done soo far.

Last
~Now this game isnt for everyone, like i said you must devote a lot of time into the game, but if you can do that, you will be hooked! If you have played runescape(i did for about 2 years until the gay updates recently, then i switched to this game) but it taks millions of exp to get a skill to lvl 99, but in Final Fantasy it is pretty consistent, it takes you exactly 837550 exp to get to lvl 75 from lvl 1, but you also need a sub job to lvl 37 which is about 150,00 exp, so all together is about 990,000 exp, just about 1 million, not that bad compared to a couple million on runescape, so getting to lvl 75 with a sub of 37 is obtainable by the average human being with a life, just may take a little bit, but usually it takes anywhere from 6 months to 12 months to reach that, this greatly depends on the time you play, your job, and a little bit of luck(to get into good parties)

So thats my review from a some what expierenced player, if anything on here is not true, please let me know.

~Nick』

(its final fantasy)
『well, what else can i say, it's final fantasy xi, it is challenging. I like it, what else can i say?』

(OK but not that great)
『One of my friends started playing this and I thought I would give it a try. This isn't a bad game, there are just some things that were really frustrating about it. I played it for about a month and cancelled it before I was billed the first time because I didn't think I would be playing it much.

I like FF but I haven't played it for a while and am not a really big fan, so if you are a big FF you might like it more than I did.

First of all, this game has a steep learning curve. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you aren't going to jump in and be an expert after a couple days. It doesn't help that the manual is in a pdf file rather than an actual book you can look at while you play. Maybe I missed it but things such as fame really isn't explained that well if at all. I liked it myself in that it was challeneging, but my friend didn't.

The interface is in my opinion made more for a console controller than a computer. That being said, even using a controller the interface is in my opinion pretty hamfisted. I played a warrior and if I wanted to taunt I had to go through 3 menus, and then taunt the npc. You can create a macro to do this for you, but in my opinion you shouldn't have to write macros to do things like that.

I don't like the application you need to go through to get into the game. It is where you register the game and expansions (along with other games made by the publisher), and you can add friends, send messages and stuff like that. If I click on the FFXI icon I wish it would just take me to the login screen instead of having to go through all that every time I want to play. This is kind of nitpicky I guess, but it just got old after a while.

You also need to download addons to do things that should be included in the game. You need to manually sort your loot items all the time because it doesn't autostack, and looting in general is another menu intensive process. You also can't alt-tab out of the game to look stuff up on the net, it will kick you out of the game and give you an error if you try it. Like I said these issues are made better through addons, but I don't think you should have to install addons for essential things like these. I really wish the would rehaul the interface, it looks like it hasn't been touched since the game came out.

OK, those were all the bad things. The things I liked about it was that it is a lot different than the newer MMORPGs out there, which I think it a good thing. It was really fun to be in a group, and most of them turned out to work good together. Ultimately when my friend stopped playing there just wasn't enough there to keep me.』

(Interested.)
『I had saw some friends of mine playing this one night and got real interested. So I bought my own copy of the set, and got it installed. I've enjoyed this game quite a bit-- I'm used to the play style of World of Warcraft so this was a nice change-- even though it's very different than WoW is, it has its own nice quirks about it. I gave it 4 out of 5 only because some of the game play was a little redundant.』

(nice charger)
『This charger and case combo is great for my psp.. I am always on the go when I use my psp and i can charge the battery while in my car with the DC plug. The protective case is very durable and protects my psp from anything.』

(great idea, too bad it doesn't work)
『I wish very much that this product worked, but it doesn't. Have not been able to find a nice compact wall charger for the PSP-2000 batteries (Sony model requries a power cable). Was excited to find this one with a bonus 240V adapter since I was traveling to Europe.

The original shipment and the replacement item did NOT work out of the box. Charger indicates fully charged batteries (green light&won't charge) even though the batteries were completely run out. Tried both times with couple different Sony batteries that charge fine in the PSP. Finally asked for a refund.

Nice lightweight protective case, which I recommend as a seperate purchase if you can find it.』

(Fantastic CD with Notable Flaws)
『Charmed: The Final Chapter is the final soundtrack in the "Charmed" franchise, following Charmed: The Soundtrack and Charmed: The Book of Shadows. Unlike its predecessors, ironically, The Final Chapter draws most of its music from the first four seasons as opposed to seasons six and seven; in fact, The Final Chapter spans nearly all eight seasons of the beloved show, making it a very successful soundtrack album.

As appropriate to its three heroines, The Final Chapter features many powerhouse female vocals, starting with Liz Phair and going on through Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sinead O'Connor, Natalie Imbruglia, and even one track featuring the surprisingly good vocals of Rose McGowan, the actress who portrayed Paige in the show.

That's not to say the male voices aren't equally well-known; The Final Chapter also features Barenaked Ladies, Collective Soul, Conjure One, BT, and The Crystal Method. The Final Chapter also spans genres, featuring rock, soft rock, electronica, easy listening, and even one Celtic track.

"Baby Got Going" by Liz Phair is a quick, fun, driving little rocker that's not quite as in-your-face as The Book of Shadows's opener "Take It Off" by The Donnas, a favorable turn. This leads into "Pinch Me" by the Barenaked Ladies, an almost upbeat but still soft song with punchy lyrics.

Track three is "Needs" by Collective Soul, which is followed by "Good Enough" by Sarah McLachlan, two long, beautiful, emotive ballads from the early seasons. The Final Chapter saves itself from falling into a weepy interlude, however, by seguing into Kreviazuk's "Weight of the World," a fun, upbeat song that lacks any real power but is still enough to bring a smile to your face.

"Tears from the Moon" is the electronica contribution from Conjure One's duet with Sinead O'Connor, a soft and sad song whose beat fits in with the season it was plucked from. Again we're saved from sadness by upbeat music; "Superfabulous" is the next track by BT featuring Rose McGowan, who has a surprisingly pleasant, powerful and sultry voice, outshining the track she was given.

This vein is followed by "Weave" from the ever-lovely Rusted Root, a fun R&B-style song that's classic Root. Natalie Imbruglia's lovely ballad "Goodbye" is followed by Beth Orton's wonderful song "Stolen Car," a ballad that is neither sad nor happy but introspective and kind of unexpectedly wonderful.

"Bell, Book&Candle" is perhaps the most beautiful song on the collection, a soft Celtic ballad sung by Eddi Reader (this was the song featured during Prue's funeral in the fourth season). It is gentle, lilting, enjoyable and sad while not being entirely depressing. For some strange reason, this song is followed by "Name of the Game" by The Crystal Method, a real four-to-the-floor club beat.

The Final Chapter is an amazing CD, save for the inclusion of "Name of the Game"; in fact, the final song on this CD is so jarring and utterly unnessesary that I had to knock this down to four stars. "Bell, Book&Candle" would have been a perfect note to end the album off, but it leaps from a soft Celtic mourning ballad to a club techno beat by The Crystal Method? It's confusing and jarring and nearly ruins the listening experience you've gained from the first eleven tracks and unless it had been put in between "Superfabulous" and "Weave," it should NEVER have been included at all.

In the end, however, every song on this CD is enjoyable in its own right, and the first eleven tracks are mixed extremely well. The soundtrack does its job by representing eight seasons of a masterful show and doing it with class. 4/5 stars.

Bad points: Complete lack of liner notes or inside illustrations other than one picture of the Charmed Ones including Leo standing off to the side; the inclusion of "Name of the Game" at the end of the CD.

ALSO RECOMMENDED:
Charmed: The Soundtrack [the original Charmed soundtrack, including songs almost entirely exclusively from the sixth season]

Charmed: The Book of Shadows [the second Charmed soundtrack, including several songs never heard on the show and other songs almost entirely exclusively from the seventh season, as well as several remixes]』

(Good Stuff)
『I enjoy watching the series and listening to the soundtracks, I think there are 2 or 3. Several of the artists on this soundtrack are staples in my "Chick Music" collection. Sara, Liz, The Donnas&the other girls are great company when I'm painting or working on jewelry. Good stuff!』

(Charmed)
『My daughter loves these girls. She even got me hooked on them. I wish they were still on with new shows』

(The Final Chapter)
『One of the better soundtracks in the market now, Charmed: The Final Chapter features more little-known artistes than well-known ones. Most of the songs were featured in the show itself, and if you are thinking this album to be very rockish, or very angsty, or very New-Age, or pop, you are half-right.

This album combines a lot of elements of different genres to produce a new album that is strong and makes a statement. 'Pinch Me' and 'Bell, Book and Candle' are some of the more memorable tracks, but do not forget that other hits from Sarah McLachlan also prove to be worth the time.

'Superfabulous' would be a new hit that you would not expect, but will like it tremendously. Overall the songs in the album bring out the essence of the show Charmed, and even if you are not a fan, listening to the music will just brighten up your day and soften your mood. Good music for the final season of Charmed.』

(Surprisingly Good)
『You wouldn't necessarily expect a "Charmed" soundtrack to be so good, but it is! I'm a fan of the show, not a huge fan, but I think anyone who watches "Charmed" probably also likes the music on the show. Not every song on this soundtrack has been featured in an episode (to my recollection, anyway), but they've all got that contemporary pop/rock girl power sound like the music often featured on the show. The best tracks are those by Liz Phair, Collective Soul, Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Natalie Imbruglia, Beth Orton and Eddie Reader. "Bell, Book&Candle" was the song that played during Prue's funeral. I had always wondered what song that was (it's a little haunting and sad), so I'm glad they included it on the soundtrack. The Collective Soul song is particularly good and in parts is a very beautiful song. If you're a fan of the show, if you liked the previous soundtracks or if you just like this genre of music in general, I would highly recommend this soundtrack.』
『As befits a cult TV show about three sisters who happen to be powerful witches, this collection of tracks associated withCharmedis heavy on the alt-girls, starting with the mother of them all, Liz Phair. Her "Baby Got Going" (from 1998's undervaluedwhitechocolatespaceegg) got a modernized Bo Diddley strut that gets things going on a jaunty foot. What's weirder is that the others--Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Natalie Imbruglia, Beth Orton, Eddie Reader, and Conjure One featuring Sinéad O'Connor--tend to lean more heavily toward a soulful, slightly reserved singer-songwriter mode: the girls don't really rock on this soundtrack, which is kinda odd since the witches themselves kick butt. Thankfully, one of the show's own stars comes to the rescue. Tucked in the middle of the CDis "Superfabulous" by trance star BT, with sultry guest vocals byCharmed's own Rose McGowan--who, based on this track, could have a great career recording Euro-style dance-floor stompers if she ever gets tired of acting.--Elisabeth Vincentelli
『Te Charmed ones are simply bewitching and this soundtrack features the greatest hits of the Charmed television series. entitled "Charmed: The Final Chapter", the soundtrack will feature songs that have been used in episodes throughout the show's eight seasons. Among the marquee artists included on the soundtrack are Aarah McLachlan, Collective Soul, Liz Phair and Crystal Method. Includes two bonus tracks exclusive to Australia, "Satellite" by Monique Brumby and "Humbly For Her" by Unni.』

(Simply Awesome)
『Whether you're really into classical music or just a casual listener, you can't go wrong with this CD. The first work, Carnival of the Animals, is sheer fun. The melodies and choice of instruments really convey the essence of each animal, while Saint-Saens' humor and wit shine through in the subtle jabs he takes at critics and woefully inept piano students. Carnival is also wonderful for children, as they can learn to identify the selections with their favorite animals.

If that weren't enough, the rest of the selections are just as fantastic. Like the above reviewer, I love Danse Macabre and its ingenious use of strings, but Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso is not to be missed either. I can honestly say that not a single track on this CD disappointed me, and would highly recommend it to anyone.』

(One of the best CDs I own)
『SAint-Saens ability to convey certian feelings and emotions through music amazes me. This Cd is one of my personal favorites. I own two of them... one for my car and the other for my house. My particular favorite is Danse Macabre. The use of the violin to convey a"ghost fiddler"boggles my mind. I can almost picture it all happening. Disney should definitly think about putting this in the next Fantasia. Anyone who loves classical music should definitly own this CD!』

(He Poos Clouds)
『He Poos Clouds was yet another album that I picked up at my local library by mere chance. I had never heard of this group and was intrigued by the weird title. Apparently He Poos Clouds is the 2nd studio album for a Welsh Indie Rock band and when it was initially released Pitchfork Media and Allmusic wrote very positive reviews. I can only agree with this assessment. The sound is quite different and to me it sounds like a mix between avant-garde and experimental music and a bit psychadelic rock. The booklet contains all the lyrics but the selection of font make it hard to read. We also get a very informative list of whom plays what on album. 4/5.』

(Some of the clearest, most purposeful music to come out in ages)
『Although I'm still confuzzled as to the rationality of Pallett naming this project after one of the biggest video game series around (as that series would overshadow the group), nevertheless, this music is amazing. I guess you could call it "indie", but Owen has alot going on here, from classical influences, to renaissance, to cabaret, and tons more I might not even notice. This album is evidence that Pallett is one of the most important forces in music today (remember, the orchestral arrangements on both Arcade Fire records are all him).』

(Reaching)
『This is some of the most reaching, intimate music that I have ever heard. Sure, the band name may be unfortunate (imagine trying to promote your goofy little indie movie project you've decided to call "Star Wars"), and "He Poos Clouds" makes it an odd gift choice for the uninitiated, but this album has staying power and emotional reach.

Pallett has a Joanna Newsom-like charm and gift for skilled minimal compositions, a reaching voice and a strong use of dissonance and melody. Parts of it sound like devilishly-composed, wrenching show tunes, with a wrenching component that should be considered heartbroken rather than dark. Check out the video for the title track on YouTube and consider this purchase.』

(Unusual and interesting)
『This album is definitely unusual, and very hard to define. I love it, but I'd be hard pressed to tell anyone what it's like. It's possible that those of us that like role-playing games, fantasy novels, clever lyrics and classical music are sure to like it. Those of us that like only some of those things will probably like it. Those of ust that like none of those things still might well like it. "This Lamb Sells Condos" is a fantastic song, with both the music and the lyrics totally fitting to the fear and ridicule of the topic. Incidentally, Owen Pallett is even better live. Some of the other reviewers have done a much better job than I can of describing it, I just wanted to put in my two cents worth. Give it a try, it's great!』

(Thanks For This Refreshing Album!)
『This album has been in rotation for me since it came out in 2006. It's often categorized as "Baroque" or "Chamber" Pop, but I think that's inaccurate. This is its own thing. Owen Pallett isn't just adding some strings to a pop song. No, these are well thought-out compositions that pass as pop songs, many of them quite catchy, all of them sophisticated and engaging. This music is dynamic, melodic, often rhythmically syncopated, and very well put together and played.

Finally, I have to point out that Owen Pallett does the absolute best job I've seen of doing the live one-man-band thing using his voice, a violin and some pedals (including loop pedals, which I usually find ultra boring). He also pitches the violin down to produce more cello-like parts. I've also seen him throw in some piano, especially on the sublimely brilliant "This Lamb Sells Condos" (which also has a really cool video).』

(Joining in with the "this one was too cartoonish" chorus.)
『**Possible spoiler warning, proceed at your own risk**

Full disclosure: I only became a Nightmare On Elm Street fan recently, and I come to it from the Hellraiser fandom; a franchise that has had its own problems during its twenty-year run. And while other people score the second Nightmare On Elm Street film as the weakest in the series, I feel that description unfortunately applies to this one.

Believe me, it's not the fault of the actors here. Robert Englund is always awesome, Lisa Zane acquits herself well here as Maggie, veteran actor Yaphet Kotto turns in a likable performance, and the teen actors are all up to snuff. No, this film is a great example of what can happen when you have great-to-decent actors, and a director and screenwriter who seem to be trying to add to the mythology without taking it or their audience seriously at all. This is especially sad, because this movie could have been so much more than it was, considering what the director and screenwriter had to work with.

Let me clarify: In my experience, any horror movie franchise succeeds or fails on the basis of its mythology. There was already plenty of stuff in Freddy's past to work with, but this storyline could have been a lot more palatable in the right hands. I can see Freddy Kreuger having shown evidence of psychopathic behavior in childhood considering how he was conceived, and it certainly looks as if his origin story as the "Springwood Slasher" presents itself as the "perfect storm" of nature vs nurture (or lacktherof.) But Rachel Talalay camps it up so broadly that the impact of it is lost.

Same with most of the deaths - we get one serious, brutal, oldschool Freddy-style killing with the character Carlos. But then there is the incident with the NES power glove, which I think has gone down as the weakest killing in the entire series. It makes sense; back in 1989/1990, video games were not seen as the valid medium and potential art form as they are today. But it just seems as if the director is mocking Freddy, his victim, and the film's primary viewing audience (teens) all at the same time. Hellraiser had its lowest moment in the fifth installment with the infamous "Kung Fu Cowboys" scene; the Power Glove killing is Nightmare on Elm Street's equivalent.

Freddy has always cracked jokes and twisted teen pop culture into something he can wield back at his chosen victims. This is one of his attractions as a character, going back to the first film. But one of the reasons why this has worked so much better in other films in the series and not in this one is because Freddy's antics are only supposed to be funny to Freddy. I think part of the shock and horror factor of his murderous acts comes from the sheer sadistic amusement that he derives from committing them. In the first five films, we as the audience were able wince at the horrific and ironic nature of the killings (custom-tailored as they were to his individual victims) even as we appreciated Freddy's wit. But the killings in and of themselves are not supposed to be funny, or resemble something out of a Warner Bros. cartoon.

Also not supposed to be funny: an entire town suffering from the loss of its children, to the point of mass catatonia. Yet it was also played for laughs. And don't even get me started on the Dream Demons. As someone who is more used to Clive Barker's mythology and universe, I was expecting something more like the Iad Uroboros, the Big Bads of the from Barker's "Book of Art" series; H.P. Lovecraft-style horrors who thrive on human nightmares and are the reflections of the worst in humanity, who are just waiting to break through from the dream world so that they can consume all of waking creation. Instead, we got cartoonish tapeworm-creatures with adorably high-pitched voices that resembled refugees from a Jim Henson picture. These are supposed to be the things behind Freddy's gory and nightmarish rise to power?

In the late 1990s/early 2000s, Joss Whedon reminded us that it is possible to be clever, witty, and fun with a horror franchise while still respecting both the subject matter and one's target audience, and he did it for seven seasons with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. (Come to think of it - I'd suffer almost any privation for a Nightmare On Elm Street movie directed by Joss Whedon.) Wes Craven not only managed it with the first film in the Nightmare franchise, he did it again with the seventh film "New Nightmare," before scoring another hit with the Scream films. Ronnie Yu did it with Freddy vs Jason.

I had to go pop the fourth and fifth Nightmare on Elm Street films (Dream Master and Dream Child) back into the DVD player just to get over the disappointment of this one - which is regrettable, because the mythology of Freddy's daughter and origin deserved so much better than treatment it got in this film.』

『I was pleased with the product I purchased but was completely dissatisfied with the charges that amazon added onto my purchase after I had bought the item』

(The Worst is Saved for Last)
『I recently re-watched this again, and I have to agree, this was definately the worst of the bunch that I've seen (I haven't yet seen Freddy vs. Jason, so don't know how it would compare). I wouldn't give it 1 star, as I was somewhat entertained, but this was definately below average for so many reasons. One of the reasons I pick on the original was it's idiotic dialogue, (for example, Nancy asking her dad to "arrest" Freddy when she pulls him out of her nightmares), but the dialogue added humor to an otherwise very disturbing tale. Part 6, however, was lacking the chills that made all the other movies that much scarier. The stoner in the video game was interesting, until it showed his "real" body running around the house like a cartoon with those awful sound effects. But what I really found annoying about this movie was the story. Nancy had connections in the first 3 movies (as a character in 1 and 3, and her diary that served as a background in 2). The characters in 3 overlapped into 4, and the characters in 4 overlapped into 5. Amanda became a known character in 3-5. So in a way the stories were all connected. Then comes 6, where the only real connection to the other movies was Freddy. We learn Freddy was married and had a child, none of which was disclosed in any of the other films, that he needs his child to escape the boundaries of Springfield without knowing why, and that one child remains who may or may not be blood-related to Freddy, but where are his parents/adoptive parents? It felt as if they forced a story in order to finish Freddy off, and they didn't bother with trying to find connections to the first movie. Forget all of that, though, what about pulling Freddy out of the dreamworld into reality? What a plot twist!... Oh wait, wasn't that what Nancy tried to do in the first movie? Why didn't it work then? That's the question a lot of people have, and the only thing I can think is that it didn't work for Nancy because it was all a dream (which would seemingly mean she pulled Freddy from one dream into another?). In part 6, we do learn more of Freddy's past, but unless you've watched the other previous movies you don't know why he is what he is, and what led up to his birth in the first place. And the dream demons, while an interesting idea, seemed out of place and not handled very well. I know they are planning to remake the original, and from what I can tell they plan to relaunch it as a franchise. If the directors are listening, my opinion is to make it a trilogy (nothing more than that as it seems that movies tend to die after the 2nd or 3rd installment), and use part 1 as the basis of part 1 remake, part 3 as the basis for the remake sequel, and parts 4 and 5 as the basis for the remake's finale.』

(FREDDY'S DEAD!?? IF ONLY IT WERE TRUE!)
『I am reviewing the entire Nightmare on Elm Street series, but not this DVD release. I own the box set and I wanted to do individual reviews for each film.

OK, sometimes during a long run of horror franchises, the train derails! This is the case with Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare. The 3-D gimmick for the last 10 minutes are pretty cool, but not enough to save this so-so entry in the series. The DVD transfer looks good and the 3-D sequence is pretty good for old school 3-D!』

(The best 3D movie experience for me (the only one to, LOL))
『In 1991 i would have been only been 8 years old and my older brothers still managed to sneak me in the cinemas, i will never forget this movie experience the staff gave me and everyone 3-D glasses when we sat down.

Fans let me be honest with you about freddy's dead, "ON THE BIG SCREEN THIS MOVIE ROCKS" i thought this was a good sequel it was a better movie then freddy vs jason which i also saw at the cinema's, i didn't like ANOEST.5: the dream child, only because of the fact that i had to always adjust my tv set this movie was to dark and to gothic like for me.

Im a big fan of the original 1984 film. I liked part 2, i thought part 3 was better then part 2, part 4 was ok, part 5 i didn't like and mentioned why, part 6 was good.

However wes craven's new nightmare was pretty ordinary in my eyes, i couldn't work out WHAT WAS REALITY (when nancy was nancy, or when she was acting as a real life person) AND WHAT WAS FANTASY (ie: a dream). This is ANOTHER movie i had to study a few times to get what's going on.

(OK)
『I feel it is only fair to preface this by saying that I paid very little for this (less than shipping will cost you on amazon) and that probably shifted my expectations. This video set has four 30 minute episodes that tell a story set in the world of the nintendo game with the same name.

In many ways this was surprisingly good (remember I had low expectations). There was plenty of comic relief. The plotline is not so similar to that of the game. The setting is similar, so you see places from the game drawn out in cartoon form. Some of the details there were nice. The best part of the video is seeing the setting from the video games drawn out and little details added that had inside jokes.

Many aspects of this were over the top to the point where it feels more like a parody of anime than an actual show. The main character Linally wears a man shirt (and not particularly big) with no pants. There are plenty of panty shots, including magically glowing butt cheeks that have something to do with the wind crystal's power. It's not so graphically drawn and she looks like she's about 10. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less disturbing.

Overall there is a nice mix of stuff that isn't fighting going on and fight scenes. The entire last thirty minute episode is basically one big fight scene. Every once in a while I'd be like, oh did they finish yet, and then reallize that they hadn't. The highlight of this was that there was a longish sequence with totally inappropriate music. The music was happy and jazzish and would better accompany something having to do with a chokobo than with a going to the moon to fight the death god scene.

Since I had no expectations, I kind of liked these. I wouldn't watch them again. If you are going to get this, then make sure to check the prices for buying the two videos separately. Right now together they are around 90 dollars, but getting both separately would cost about 1 dollar.』

(Get the Facts Straight)
『Sorry kiddies...those of you introduced to the FF series beginning with FFVII are uninformed. CG has obviously been a fairly recent addition to video games and therefore was not available for most of the 11 FF game titles. I have read that The Legend of the Crystals was based upon FFV, a game that wasn't released in the US until a couple years ago in the FF Anthology. This game was made way before CG and before Cloud.
The 5th game isn't known for its storyline but rather the gameplay. Take this title as it is-a not very recent animation which is NOT FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, or FFX!
I love FF for the changing storylines, characters, worlds, and plots. I don't want another FF7, 8, 9, or 10. I look upon the "classic" FF games and associated items (such as this set) as simply different incarnations of the FF world. Love FF because of its roots and appreciate the older worlds which influenced the ones you're so fond of in 7-10. ^_^
There is not a "best" Final Fantasy, they're all unique and each story will be remembered as I explore each new world given to us by the people at Square.』

(The best movie ever)
『This is so good. It is cool but weird. The best part is the blinking ... scene. The weird thing is the ghost of a boy dead for 200 years is thrown in. If your looking in the anime section of hollywood and can't decide what to rent, rent this one.』

(A Must Have for Any Final Fantasy Game Fan!!!)
『I was laughing, cheering, and crying (from laughing so hard). I was very pleased that this story follows very closely to the game plots; it's that same style that flows though every Final Fantasy game, those favorite characters that you both became frustrated with and had fun with. This anime has it all: the summoning heroine, so pivitol to the success of the adventure; the easily tempered, yet laid back hero, secretely in love with our heroine; the bumbling brute in unrequited love; the enemy turned ally who's only looking out for number one; riddles, magic, and spooks; and reaching to another world to vanquish the foe and return peace to the entire earth. Oh, yeah! And featherless gold chocobos to save the day!

The only thing wrong I see with this series is that it's so short. But that may only seem that way to me because I'm used to 40-70 hour playing times! Even so, I'm very glad I got this set; it was well worth it!』

(Exciting, but very strange film)
『Aloof tale about group of ragtag heroes led by crazy boy hero Pretz, setting out to find magical crystals and who end up fighting a mechanical deity. Preposterous story and some absurd characters are redeemed completely by sensational music score, breathtaking trappings and kinetic direction. Loosely based on the ultra popular Japanese video game.』

(The sort of horror film that would appeal to 10 year olds)
『"Horror 101" reminds me of the sort of horror films that I was into when I was 10. It's technically a horror film, so if you're a child with a particularly over-active imagination, it can make you feel good about having sat through a "horror film", but it's not actually scary. In fact, the film is 88 minutes long and no one actually gets killed until 84 minutes into the film, and even then, it's not shown (about an hour into the film, I was starting to wonder if anyone was ever going to get killed, so I suppose the fact that a murder does occur is a point in this film's favour).

The film centres around a class of college psychology students that is made up of all of the stereotypes that you are familiar with from other teen movies: the jock, the nerd, the weird goth guy, etc, none of whom are played by anyone you have ever heard of before. The class must come in late one night to sit their final exam (that's right, after everyone has gone home and the college is deserted), but the teacher (Bo Derek) doesn't show and slowly the class members start disappearing one by one. Needless to say, the class immediately suspect foul play and then start suspecting each other.

I have seen films that are far worse than this one, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one, but the fact still remains that this film just isn't very good. People disappearing just isn't as scary as corpses being found, and the acting and script are pretty bad. The most amazing thing about this film is that it was successful enough to warrant a sequel ("Horror 102"). If you're an easily scared kid, this might be a good choice for a sleepover movie (the PG-13 rating will probably keep your parents happy), but other than that, it's probably best to give this film a miss.

(Made for TV?)
『I caught this on TV one day, don't remember when or on what channel, but I remember it still. The bleeding bag bit was the only reason I remember it. Seriously, how could you not notice?

I remember how mediocre the acting was, and how rediculous the plot was. The characters were all self-centered, whiny brats. I would rather have watched"Session 9"than this.

Bottom line: not worth the money』

(A Simple Horror Movie)
『This movie was just a simple movie-barely any gore-which I love and it is suspenseful. But it is mostly predictable. I only caught it on the Sci-Fi channel once but seemed pulled in to watch just how it would end. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes to be a little scared but doesn't like gore.』

(Horror 101)
『Horror 101 is definately a classic independent film with a good plot, good acting, a good mystery, and an overall good job.
The film takes place with eight students taking a course on fear. They come for the final exam but the teacher never shows up. Then the lights go out. As the eight peers walk down the dark halls of the building they begin to mysteriously dissapear. The film is a classic because there is barely any gore and it's not a slasher film. It's all purely suspense.』

(Neither Scary, Nor Funny: Still I Enjoyed It Somewhat)
『Actually, I think the students in the film are college students of some sort, since their teacher (Bo Derek) is a professor, but anyway none of the details in this movie matter much since the writer or director couldn't be bothered with establishing much verisimilitude.

I mean that few people would be convinced that situation, the students or the settings are particulary realistic. What we are given is basically a standard teen horror movie without the sex, harsh language, or graphic violence. All of the students are stereotypes: the rebel, the jock, the jock's girlfriend, the nerd, etc. The cast, in my opinion, is the best part of this mediocre flick mostly because I found all the girls to be very cute, the bully almost menacing and the nerd not wimpy.

However, they're all done in by a ho-hum situation: "trapped" in a school at night with the electricity off (temporarily) and someone stalking them, making them disappear one by one. The problem is that all along the details aren't there to make us believe.

We start off with a class that has only about 8 students (we are told half the students had dropped the course), presumably because we wouldn't want 30 victims in the halls 'cause you'd need an army of psychos to stalk them. No one really cares about the class anyway, despite it being near the end of the class (I think the subject is "The Psychology of Fear," though again, that's not important.) and course projects and final exams are coming due. In fact, one project, by a cute redhead named Tiffany, is entitled "10 Reasons Why Girls Kill Less Often Than Boys" and is a sort of lame David Letterman list. Really, that's her project, and Bo Derek, as The Professor, seems to expect nothing deeper than that.

I'm wandering, but my point is there's very little sense of real people trapped in circumstances beyond their control. No sense of being obligated to deal with horror because there's no other choice. Trapped by dogs in a large, deserted building? Get real! Wandering off alone when you think someone's stalking people? Get real! They must've seen some movies.

There's all the little details: when three students are down in the basement looking for the switch to turn the lights back on, a light is already clearly visible over the corner of guy's shoulder and casts a shadow, or when one student runs back into the building because he can't drive his car past a parking garage gate (your life's at risk, dude, ram it!), or when one of the girls knocks over terrarium with a - gasp! - iguana in it (the horror!), or that stupid bleeding bag which doesn't really amount to...but you know...

I know they were on a budget and yet, come on guys, this didn't need a lot of special effects to get it right...

(Plus, you already have a good idea who the killer is (are) from some very broad hints before the night of "terror" begins.)

The ending really wasn't in keeping with the spirit of a low-budget, fairly harmless and nonviolent movie. My girlfriend and I thought it was unnecessary to end the movie in such a fashion.

Again, not a bad movie unless you were looking for horror, terror, or some scantily clad women. (Bo Derek has few scenes,if you were wondering, once the hunt begins.)』

(Too Bad This Was the Last Season)
『From the pilot episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" all the way through this last season of "Angel", I always had one or the other, or both, to enjoy and keep my work week rolling along. Getting to watch Season 5 again after all these years was a real treat and I highly recommend "Angel" to anyone who is/was a "Buffy" fan and didn't give "Angel" a chance. I feel that "Angel" was consistently good from episode-to-episode and season-to-season. Something I always appreciated was how the writers (and Joss Whedon) never shied away from making fun of the show and/or the characters at times, even if the plot was dark. And when things got dark, they were really dark. But there's always a subtle sense of hope that runs through the episodes and seasons that, in conjunction with the great story-lines and writing, helped to bind the show together and keep things flowing along.

I hated to see the show end, but it's always better to go out with a roar instead of a whimper. Enjoy!』

(SERIOUSLY OVER RATED!)
『First I want to say I LOVE this series (even better then Buffy). Angel is my #1 favorite series ever (Buffy's #2), but I didn't like this season. It was a completely different show all together. In season 4 they BUTCHERED Cordy's character (making her have sex with Connor, even if she was possessed it was just disgusting) and in season 5 they totally butchered Angel and Spike's characters and killed 3 of my favorite characters. Spike was my favorite character off of Buffy. He was actually the reason I watched the show his character was so fun to watch and funny (you laugh at almost everything he says), but his character went from the funny, rebel of Buffy that never really fit in and didn't really care to almost boring on Angel. And Angel wasn't the character I grew to love watching on his own show through the years either. He became kind of an ass and a lot darker of a character (not Angelus dark and not "poor me" Buffy series dark, but kind of like he's just drained and hasn't really care anymore). The show was definitely missing that lighter vibe Cordy brought that they tried to fill by bringing Harmony into the cast (they failed) and it was obvious they tried to make Spike fill in for Gunn (since they change Gunn's charater too), but it doesn't work because like I said they loose the character of Spike in doing so. The only things I liked about the show was the closure it gave to Angel and Connor's relationship and Illyria was actually a pretty cool character (but I would have traded her for a Wes/Fred ship for the season).

I also thought Joss was in such a hurry to try and get over the Angel/ Cordy thing once they finished her character that no one seemed to care at all when she died, no one really mentioned it (except Angel a couple times here and there) and Angel within the next couple of episodes is already dating someone else (which I think was a huge disrespect to the character of Cordelia). Even if you don't count the fact that they were in love she was his best and dearest friend and I honestly don't think Angel had he have been himself that season would have gotten over it so fast. I think Joss handled it not only disrespectful to the character of Cordelia, but to Angel's character as well.

If you're just watching to see if Angel and Buffy end up together or Buffy and Spike it's a total waste of time as well. She does love BOTH of them, but there is no real closure on the love triangle.

In seasons 1-3 they have a mission and it's all like one big novel (like the Harry Potter series) with season 4 rounding it out. Season 5 was just completely different! No more Angel Investigations, no more champions, no more fighting for redemption or to help the helpless, no more working for/with the powers the be, none of the things that made the series, the series. EVERYTHING is gone and everyone's personality changes (or they die, or both). It's like if you watched "Gone with the Wind" and everyone wants to know what happens next, but then years after the author dies, some women gets the rights from a relative of the author to do a sequel and it's horrible! They change Scarlett and Rhett's personalites, they have them doing things their characters would never do, and acting in ways their characters would never act and it's just so badly ruined the story for you that you wished you'd never even seen it. That's what they do to the characters in season 5 as continuing of the Buffy&Angel series. I hated the fact that Spike died at the end of season 7 of Buffy, but if I knew they'd butcher his character in season 5 of Angel I would've just rathered they kept him the way he was and ended the Angel series at season 3 or 4.

I think the people excited about Spike are just so excited because he's back that they don't even realize that he's not the same character anymore. Also fans of Cordy's probably wont like season 5 and will probably feel the energy missing from it not having her character around. Angel's character also changes drastically not having her around (as I mentioned earlier). Gunn's character totally changes, so fans of Gunn may or may not like the new Gunn, etc. etc.

The point to my ramblings is that this season really should not have even happened (Plus the ending sucks). But it got 2 points from me (only because the Illyria character was cool and they ended Connor and Angel really nicely, in my opinion).』

(very happy with this product)
『Sorry this took so long. I didn't have the internet for some time. I was very happy with this purchase. It was in perfect condiction. Thanks!!!』

(Angel Season 5 - Wow)
『I loved it! For Angel fans the what happens next. Taking over Wolfram $ Hart and how it effects everyone. It was really great!

『Movie DVD』
『Lives were upended--and some co-opted--in the fifth and final season ofAngel, as the denizens of Angel Investigations found themselves taking on one of their scariest endeavors ever: corporate life. After making a literal deal with the devil (or something distinctly devil-like), Angel (David Boreanaz) moved his team from their crumbling hotel to the high-rise digs of law-firm-from-hell Wolfram&Hart, his reasoning being they could better fight the forces of evil from the inside, and with more resources to boot. Clever maneuvering or easy rationalization? Not a few members of Angel's team accused him of selling out (as did a number of viewers), but as with most of the show's previous four seasons,Angelsomehow took a dubious premise and mined it for gold. And with one core cast member gone (Charisma Carpenter, whose Cordelia was immersed in a deep coma), it seemed as if the show, from within and without, would suddenly fall apart--that is, until Angel's longtime nemesis Spike (James Marsters) showed up, fresh from his sacrificial roasting at the series finale ofBuffy the Vampire Slayer. Let the vampire games begin!

WithBuffyoff the air, fans flocked toAngel's last season to get their fix of Joss Whedon's "Buffyverse" in any form they could, and the addition of Spike was a shrewd one, albeit not enough to keep the show from getting canceled. And for the first half of the season, the creative forces behind the show seemed to be toying ruthlessly with the audience. Spike was around, but not entirely corporeal; Angel himself became sullen and withdrawn; and most horrifically, sweetheart scientist Fred (Amy Acker) and former watcher Wesley (Alexis Denisof) underwent traumas that would test even the most devoted viewer. However, just when you'd be about to throw in the towel, things started changing for the better--Spike became a permanent fixture (both in the flesh and on the show), Angel's secret motives were revealed, and the introduction of demon warrior Illyria, who proved to be the show's answer toBuffy's sardonic demon-made-human Anya, was a welcome breath of fresh air. Creatively,Angelalso came up with some of its best episodes, including "Smile Time" (where Angel is turned into a puppet - really!) and "You're Welcome" (the show's 100th episode, which marked the bittersweet return of Carpenter's Cordelia). The ending of the series was deliberately ambiguous, and not everyone made it through alive, but in going out kicking, it was a proper sendoff for a show that always fought the good fight.--Mark Englehart

『this is a amazing movie with so beautiful graphique, event wall disney can't do better.』

(NO ZACK ANIMATED FILM!)
『I have seen this movie like a 1000 times, it is beautifully made, if not a bit confusing plot wise (I have played the game like 1000 times too, so my confusion is not for lack of understanding of the FFVII universe)

But this is not what this review is about. I am reviewing the BluRay and lack of respect to us fans. I got the BluRay today and was VERY disappointed to find out the Zack animated short is not included AGAIN! I thought this thing would have EVERYTHING. If Transformers' 2 BluRay can have 6 hours of special features... well. Instead we only get the new Danzel short and a disappointingly short list of the same stuff we got on the DVD... no Zack short though, to me this feels like an excuse to squeeze more money out of us.

I previously bough the two disc DVD, in which of course, since there was a SPECIAL "Limited Edition Collector Set" whatever they call it, edition coming out at some point (which sold/sales for $49.99) wasn't included either. It was only reserved for those who forked out the cash. I thought, that by now, SquareEnix know that they got just about all they can from the DVD sales, so they should have included BOTH shorts in the BluRay plus whatever other incredible footage and revised scenes they claim to have, is not lack of space (neither was on the DVD) is just pure disregard for the fans who follow them even though they are the KINGS of delays and overrated hype. It disappoints me to see whoever decides what was to be included in the special features (or not), holding out on us fans like this. What, are they going to release a BluRay special edition with some fancy cover and charge $100 bucks for it just to get a 20 minute short film!? Do they really expect us to buy every release they put out there? I Guess I should just buy the most expensive one and shut up, but that is not the point.

I rate this a 3 because the movie is enjoyable and you do get the 1080p HD experience, but that's it. If you have the DVD, save your money, or buy another BluRay you don't have...like Transformers 2 lol.

(Now It's a Movie)
『I kept track of the evolution of this movie. At first it was just going to be some 45 minute OAV, then what i call a Disney-length movie (about 72 minutes), and I never took it seriously as a movie. I thought it was just a sad attempt at making money off the fans. Then they extended it out to a full-length movie, and i got excited. I saw it. It was a fun ride, but it kinda left me dazed and confused. I knew the story of FF7 (though i had never finished the game), at least enough to know what was going on in general, but this story seemed like an excuse for the action that took up more than half the movie. It was rushed, the whole movie looked very gray and depressing, the transitions were very rough, and a bunch of other small nitpicky things annoyed me. I think i gave the original cut 5 stars at the time, but in retrospect, it was more of a 4. High marks for the animation being far beyond what we get in America for direct-to-DVD, and for the action being so wonderfully insane that it made my eyes tired.

This release deals with the big issue that kept the original cut from being a real movie and not just a movie for FF7 fans. The story. They really fleshed it out, and instead of trying to pick up where the game left off and continue that story, the additions have served to finally give this its own story (and one that fits the title much better). And like any decent movie based on a story told in another media (Serenity), you don't have to know what happened before, but there are obviously things that will be more significant to those that do, but mostly in a nostalgic sense. The pacing is also a lot better, so it doesn't feel so rushed.

They've added more than just talking though. Many of the action sequences have been extended and revamped, including the final duel (which definitely pushes this above the PG-13 rating of the original cut). There are a few more location shots here and there which are easy to miss, but help with the pacing. And this cut seemed more colorful. It's still pretty gray, but things like Cloud's shirt looking blue, and Vincent's cape now being bright red seemed to pop out at me. It also seems like the characters actually look beaten, bruised, and dirty during the fights, and i don't remember it being done quite so obviously before.

The only thing that bugged me about this is that it's only on Blu-Ray (i just got a PS3, so i finally got to see this) and that you can tell how old some of the sequences are (early in the movie's development, after they decided to do a full-length movie, new footage for Complete). But that's because they've been working on this for so long. I noticed that in the original cut. But unless you're as visually picky as me, it won't bug you too much.

So with all the additions, big and small, and even with it's shortcomings, Advent Children is finally a real movie to me. And it now earns a full 5 stars from me beyond all doubt.』

(fantasic movie)
『new scenes helped make the movie flow much better. visually stunning on 1080p tele. a bit sparse on extras beyond the film. overall a very solid addition to your sci-fi blue ray collection. and def a must for final fantasy fans.』

『The question facing any viewer of the Japanese CG featureFinal Fantasy VII: Advent Childrenis: do you have to know the games on which it's based in order to understand the film? And the answer is: it certainly helps. But even complete novices (i.e., most parents) in theFinal Fantasyworld will find some entertainment in its wealth of fantasy-based action, and the animation never fails to astonish. Picking up two years after an epic battle between the forces of good (represented by brooding soldier Cloud) and evil (Cloud's former general, Sephiroth),FFVIIopens in the devastated city of Midgard, whose youthful occupants suffer from a ghastly disease known as Geostigma. A trio of brothers arrives with what appears to be a cure for the plague, but their gesture conceals a more sinister purpose: to revive Sephiroth and bring about the end of the world. Cloud and his companions must once again rise to the occasion to stop the siblings and the revived Sephiroth from unleashing total destruction. Complex and self-referential to the point of occasional incomprehension,Final Fantasy VIIwill definitely be most appreciated by fans of the game series, but if others can look past the numbing dialogue and frenetic action (which is a bit too intense for very young children), the film offers a carefree and action-packed viewing experience. The two-disc set contains the original Japanese language version of the film as well as an English-dubbed edition (Rachel Leigh Cook and Christy Carlson Romano, among others, provide the vocal talent) and a version edited for the Venice Film Festival. A 30-minute featurette that recaps theFinal Fantasystory up toVII, as well as a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, and promotions for futureFinal Fantasy VIIgames and products round out the extras.--Paul Gaita

(does not age well)
『7.9 THE FILM ITSELF
6.9 VISUALS
7.5 SOUND
7.0 PACKAGING
8.4 EXTRAS

Remembering that Final destination came out in 2000, it's easy to see how old the film looks - especially on blu-ray. But even more so, the dialogue, the some what hammy / cheesy acting and just how young the cast is makes you understand you are not watching an Oscar award winning film.

Final Destination is an above average thriller / horror flick that deals with a young man who has visions of death. When he escapes the "death" that was imminent, the count down is on until death "catches up" to those who escaped. It's an interesting premise and it's handled decently. But after 9 years, it's certainly not the most engaging of stories, it sometimes doesn't really hold your attention and the characters feel cookie-cutter at best. But if you're looking for something different and slightly entertaining, you can do a lot worse than Final Destination.

VISUALS 6.9
There's no reason this should be bought on blu-ray. It looks okay at best, but for visual nuts they will certainly call this "horrible". From the bad haircuts that are really shown well here to the blotchy skin / makeup, some movies just should be left on DVD. Of course, being 9 years old doesn't help, but I've seen movies had 20 years ago that look stunning compared to this. It seems like no remastering has been done here at all.

SOUND 7.5
It's good, but nothing special. And after listening to the entire "isolated score" feature, I'm even more less impressed with this than I originally was. The rest of the sound - dialogue and explosions - are better, but still, nothing that makes you crank up the surround sound or anything.

PACKAGING 7.0
No main menu, the movie just starts with a menu bar that pops up on the bottom. The cover kind of resembles a cheesy teen-horror / action flick, and that's exactly what the film is.

EXTRAS 8.4
Two commentary tracks, one of which is really good (the one with the crew) while the other is average at best (the one with some of the cast members). There is a feature that is commentary by the composer as the entire score is presented over the dialogue. I never listened to one of these before, and this was not a good first selection for a film to do so on. The score just isn't that interesting here and the dialogue is "blah" at best.

"The Perfect Souffle: Testing Final Destination" is an inyteretsing feature I have never seen again. The creators talk about what a testing piece does for the film and what changes after it. Kind of interesting, but glad more films don't have this as it won't be watched by many fans.

"Premonitions" is an obnoxiously cheesy piece about a woman who believes she has the power to see when people are dead or in danger, and that she can see the future. Maybe if she didn't try to force her kids to believe it (that's how it seems anyway) it wouldn't be so bad, but this just seems like a family that will be in the news one day for joining a cult or something.

Then there are 3 deleted scenes that show a radically different ending. These are good because it shows just how far off the ending was, but they're bad because this ending is a horrible decision. So I'm glad they changed it and this is a very interesting original ending.

FINAL VERDICT
Final Destination is a decent film that offers something new to a tired genre, but it certainly hasn't aged well in the 9 years since it was released. The special features are impressive, but aside from the crew commentary and the shocking alternate ending there isn't much substance here.

8.1/10 "IMPRESSIVE"』

(great horror that deserves the many positive ratings and reviews)
『The first Final Destination is actually a really good horror film. It's significantly better than the third Final Destination movie (that's the one with the carnival and roller-coaster ride segment, right? I like this one a LOT more).

The only flaw with this film is that the first 20 minutes start off rather predictable, but give the story some time to develop and I believe you'll find yourself really getting into it.

Maybe it's just me, but I found it kind of disrespectful that they'd keep playing John Denver's classic "Rocky Mountain High" throughout the film. The song plays whenever something bad is about to happen.

It's disrespectful because, as you probably know, John Denver lost his life in an airplane accident a few years before this movie was created and released. The writers should have honestly picked a different song.

Now about the storyline. Are you the kind of person that believes you can cheat death? If so, do you believe if you happen to cheat death that death will rear its head shortly after in ANOTHER attempt to take your life? These are the kind of serious and curious questions that many of us probably ask ourselves, and these same questions are the reason this kind of horror is a few steps above the generic slasher kind (and honestly, slasher flicks are the kind of horror stories have been done to the point of exhaustion by this point).

I often wonder about these questions personally, though obviously it's important not to let these questions interfere with enjoying your life. But it makes you wonder exactly what your destiny is and when it will happen, doesn't it?

Anyway, great horror suspense.』

(Extremely Underrated Sci-Fi Movie)
『Final Destination has an interesting concept. Death hunts people who overcame his plan for them. A script originally written for X-Files, it is intelligent, cerebral, and witty. It is not your average "kill-teens" flick. Each teen has their own personality and you can actually tell the difference between all of them. You sympathize with the teens and hope they don't die; instead of rooting for the killer (in this case Death itself). The teens have actual intelligence and are not idiots. The cliffhanger ending is truly excellent.
Among the Final Destination series, this is the best. Final Destination 2 (second best) suffered (in my opinion) from a relatively happy, hopeful ending compared to this cliffhanger ending; the new life concept seemed too hopeful. The Final Destination (third best) was relatively good but suffered from "show everybody die and not leave mystery" syndrome. Final Destination 3 suffered from stupid characters who no one cares about syndrome.』

(Useless, dumb POS movie)
『As they are, horror movies are for the most part useless and have no cultural value at all unless you're some kind of sadist. Final Destinations 1, 2 and 3 aren't so much horror as they are safety films that show what happen if you don't put safety first. People are decapitated, suffocated, immolated, defenestrated, and the only lesson we learn from this movie is... they shouldn't make a sequel... but they did anyway, 2 of them! Then they're making this new dumb Final Destination movie, with the word "The" in front of it as though they are trying to have more respect for the English language somehow by making the title a complete sentence on its own.

Don't watch Final Destination. You'll only destroy your mind and your dignity.』

(No Cheating The Reaper)
『The "Final Destination" series started off with this low-key and middle-budget suspense film. Cast with a bunch of young actors in a twist on the old slasher formula, except this time, the mad killer is old Grimm himself. It makes this movie a minor classic, in that there's never anyone chasing these kids through the woods (so to speak). You don't need to set up a story about the killer that got killed by the angry mob or tormented by nasty classmates. Death doesn't need that kind of contraption, Death just is.

Of the actors, only Sean William Scott (aka "Stifler") and Heroes' Ari Larter have moved up from this series starter. Then one of the kids - Devon Sawa - has a premonition that gets him and six classmates plus one teacher booted from the flight. Said plane then explodes upon take-off. This team of cast-offs realize they've cheated death...or did they? Seems Death's Design isn't to crazy about being disrupted, and comes back for the stragglers. This is where "Final Destination" slips back into formula, and became more inventive in the way the teens get killed off. This does sort of make FD a precursor to the Saw series, in that the kills had to be elaborately set up and executed (har har).

Even with the beach-blanket-bingo of the FD plotline, the suspense is real. Who goes next and who beats the reaper? The concept was so successful that the Big D came back for two more sets of teens (Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3) with a 4th in the works with little variance in the formula.』

『Studio: New Line Home Video Release Date: 04/07/2009 Rating: Nr』
『While hardly a spiritual upgrade of the slasher film, this high-concept teen body-count thriller drops hints ofThe Sixth Senseinto the smart-aleck sensibility ofScream. Helmed byX-Filesveteran James Wong, who cowrote the screenplay with longtime creative partner Glen Morgan,Final Destinationis an often entertaining thriller marked by an unsettling sense of unease and scenes of eerie imagery. It suffers, however, from a schizophrenic tone and a frankly ludicrous premise. A high school Cassandra, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa ofIdle Hands), wakes from a preflight nightmare and panics when he's convinced the plane is doomed. His ruckus bumps seven passengers from the Paris-bound plane, which immediately explodes into a fireball on takeoff, but fate hasn't finished with these lucky few and, one by one, death claims them. Wong brings such a funereal tone to these early scenes of survivor's guilt and inevitable doom that the already far-fetched film threatens to veer into unplanned absurdity. Thankfully, the tale loosens up with a playful morgue humor: one of the victims winds up the splattered punch line to a grim joke and elaborate Rube Goldbergesque chains of cause and effect become inspired spectacles of destruction.Final Destinationis a pretty silly thriller when it takes itself seriously, and the filmmakers play fast and loose with their own rules of fate, but once they stick their tongues firmly in cheek, the film takes off with a screwy interpretation of the domino effect of doom.--Sean Axmaker

(I love these FF toys)
『Plastic FF miniature toys.
The finish is not perfect, but they worth it !
I would have suggested to get one big box instead of 5 small boxes.』

(Cutest things ever)
『These figurines are so incredibly cute for being so small. They're all really nice! But some of them like to be very difficult in getting into their stands, so you may need some scissors or something to widen that hole. And also, it's difficult to get Cloud's sword into his palm and when you do... it just looks awkward. Other than the Cloud figurine, the rest are great. Must get for any FF fan!』

(Beware of bootlegs!)
『I just received a set of these in the mail today from a certain vendor here on Amazon who sold me a set of incredibly shappy bootlegs. I had purchased several from a neighborhood store a while ago, which as the other review describe, these are great in terms of detail and quality... when they're not bootlegged.
Comparing a duplicate to the real thing it was very clear--the pieces came out of the mold lumpy and had been badly cut and trimmed. The paint was cheap and very badly done, possibly the worst part because it ruins the little facial expressions. Just awful. With close inspection, you can tell the box was made using a hazy scan of the real thing, more noticeable against a real box. The bootleggers really went all out to make the boxes look convincing, but the contents are utter rubbish.

In the vendor's defense, they may have not looked closely through the wrapping when they were checking the figures to make the set, as the boxes are very convincing.』

(Great figures!)
『These figures are so cute and so detailed for their size. I love mini figures, and these are some of the best. The detail stuns me. The only problem is, the feet don't fit in the stands very well. With some force, twisting, and lots of patience, I got four of the five into their stands, but Cloud's left foot will not fit into the stand. And Cloud's sword doesn't fit into his hand either. I have the handle balanced between his elbow and hair, which stays fine and looks just like he's holding it. But these little problems are offset by how cute they are. Overall, this is an amazing product and a must for any Final Fantasy collection.』

(Mini Final Fantasy Fun!)
『The level of detail they've achieved on such small figures is pretty impressive! Each of the characters are instantly recognizable. Also notable is that this set includes Penelo. For some reason, the American Square-Enix store sells this as a four piece set, leaving her out.

One important thing to note is that the figures look just a bit different than the ones in the picture. Though this is the case with most toys (as the pictures are likely of the prototypes and--especially at this scale--you'll never get the mass-produced products to look *exactly* the same as the prototypes), in this case they're a tad more different than usual (but not neccisarily "off"). Regardless, they still look good, and are so incredibly cute displayed on their little stands!

The only real complaints are that Cloud holds his sword at an ackward angle, and it's a little hard to get said sword into his hand. It's molded as a seperate piece, and it's a pretty tight fit. As another reviewer noted, it's also a bit difficult to get the little guys onto their stands (especially Yuna), but thankfully this is something you only have to do once.

Overall, a worthwhile and enjoyable buy for Final Fantasy fans that want to liven up their room or office!』

『Your favorite characters from the FINAL FANTASY series are now available as a set of 4 collectable miniatures! Featuring Cloud from FINAL FANTASY VII, Rinoa from FINAL FANTASY VIII, Yuna from FINAL FANTASY X and Vaan from FINAL FANTASY XII.』

(Great book)
『Another great book by John Granger. His insights into the Harry Potter novels are wonderful and really helpful each time I reread the series.』

(Good in Parts, but Acedemic 'Depth' and Christian 'Message' Overboard)
『John Granger clearly has a vast knowledge of the literary classics, and uses this knowladge to make many comparisons to 'Harry Potter' that at times seem to stretch a bit too far and thin. Yes, he can list many obscure references throughout the books to this or that, but these are likely not references at all. Is Deathly Hallows a book for the serious reader? A book heavily influenced by classics? Yes, I think it is. But at times Granger seems to take for granted a great deal about Jo Rowling's influences and beliefs. Reading this book felt like he was making stretches in many of his arguments.

On the other hand, there is some really good stuff in here too. Granger is best when discussing literary alchemy, hero's journey, and transformation both as structure and themes throughout DH. When directly discussing the text and Harry's journey itself Granger seems to have wonderful insights. His opening chapter explaining his five keys of understanding Rowling's writing is really superb. And I really enjoyed his 31 FAQ's at the end of the book.

The book is weakest and least acedemic when he seems to be arguing that Deathly Hallows itself is a discourse on Christianity urging the reader to believe in God and accept Jesus. Granger claims that for Rowling Deathly Hallows "is all about her life as a disciple of Christ". Is Deathly Hallows a spiritual novel? A novel about belief and individual transformation? Yes, absolutely. But, Granger takes a very dogmatic approach to understanding Deathly Hallows, which doubtless comes not from objective acedemic analysis but rather from his own personal beliefs. Granger's own religious beliefs seep through the pages of his entire analysis of Deathly Hallows. To Mr. Granger I would remind him that 'Jo Rowling is not (overtly Christian fantasy writer) C.S. Lewis, no matter how much you want her to be'.

On the whole Granger's book provides some great depth to understanding Harry Potter, and could surely add to the serious readers enjoyment of Deathly Hallows and the other Potter books. However, the problem with Granger's book and literary anylis as a whole is that at times it seems comparisons and anylsis stretch too far, making something out of nothing. 3 stars.』

(Difficult but fascinating read.)
『This book is a deep dive into the background of Harry Potter in general and the final book, Deathly Hallows, particularly. There are some major typos, true, but they are few and far between. My problem with the book is two fold. The author uses some awfully full language, words i have heard used in hardly any context before. Also some of his analysis takes a tack that is far more divergent than necessary. Good dramatic structure is followed in each book: Exposition, development, denouement (final bringing together of all threads). It doesn't have to be all about black, white and red - the author's contention.

The symbolism in the book, however, is quite clearly outlined. It explains even small details that relate the book to the Bible, Dante's Divine Comedy and even to C. S. Lewis' Narnia series.

I enjoyed the book and recommend it, but I wish he had spent less time plugging his other HP books in the process.』

(Lectures, indeed. (Hear me out before you vote. Please read.))
『I bought this book along with "Does Harry Potter Tickle Sleeping Dragons?" by Nancy Solon Villaluz, which I preferred for its much more interesting, flowing writing style, being more in-depth in the right places, groundbreaking content, and being more specifically about Rowling, Rowling's intentions, and Harry than "The Deathly Hallows Lectures" is. (Click "See All My Reviews" to read my full review of the Villaluz book.) That being said, The Deathly Hallows Lectures is still worth reading for college-level fans of Harry Potter who want to spend 300 pages seeing how classical literature interpolates into Rowling's final book.

Now, before Granger's fans immediate click the "No, not helpful" on this review just because it's only 3-star, please let me explain the reasons for Mr. Granger's star deductions.

I deducted one star for overlong passages. As a long-time reader of Mr. Granger's, I know that he has always had some interesting ideas (along with his history of wildly wrong guesses... who could ever forget his laughable "Evil Slughorn" arguments in his other book, etc.), but it would just be nice if he didn't tend to ramble on like Rowling's character, Professor Binns. Mr. Granger is a live speaker, and though I've never had the opportunity to see him in person, I suspect this book's weakness is that it stems from live lectures which don't always work well in text form. The editing and organizational problems are greatly reduced in Granger's publisher-published books, but this title is self-published by his own "Zossima Press," and the lengthiness just got way out of control without benefit of a professional publisher's editor.

I deducted one-half star for his frequent la-dee-da vocabulary and sentence structure's lack of charity toward 90% of Harry Potter readers. Professor Granger is obviously proud of his literary college degree, which is fine, and I'm not saying that there's any reason to dumb down this book's ideas, but this book's writing style just seems to suggest a self-enjoyment of feeling superior and inaccessible to the masses. The moments where he tries hard to sound "cool" or "humble" just come off as awkward.

Lastly, I deducted one-half star for a combination of smaller things. To name a few: Granger includes a comment about us needed to buy his book(s) for him to get money, and buy shoes for his size 13 kid, even affirming that he's "not kidding" when he says so. That's just tasteless. If his motive for writing about Harry Potter is money, he shouldn't flaunt that. (Though his other book(s) mention money, too, so it's not surprising, just disappointing.) Also, on his website, his other books, and this book, Granger still persists in saying how much he "craves" and "covets" reader feedback, which comes off as a narcissistic, attention-seeking foible of his semi-famous status. Also, there are several small, and even a couple large, things in the book that are just incorrect.

Worth reading, but a book that many Potter fans will not enjoy or manage to finish.
3 Stars.

(Too Many Errors)
『On first glance this book is intelligently written and very interesting. However, once you start actually reading the essays that changes. It's not that Granger's theories are lacking or not well thought out. It's that he makes enough errors in the first essay that I'm not sure I'm going to read beyond it. To name just two he uses "astrology" when he means "astronomy" and, when using the Star Wars movies as an example, he calls Han Solo, Hans Solo. Such mistakes call into question the accuracy of his other examples. Also, he should have run his manuscript through a basic spell checker. It really takes away from a book, especially one that's supposed to be intelligent analysis, to run into a lot of misspelled words. I realize that the pressures of publishing make it impossible to keep out all such errors, but this is ridiculous. If such things don't bother you, then give this a read. If they do, stay away.』
『The fastest-selling book in publication history, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was a critical success and is loved by fans around the world. In The Deathly Hallows Lectures, John Granger reveals the Potter finale's brilliant details, themes and meanings. Even the most ardent of Harry Potter fans will be surprised by and delighted with the Hogwarts Professor's explanations of the four dimensions of meaning in Deathly Hallows to include:

*why Ms. Rowling chose to make Lily's eyes green,
*why Harry buried Moody's eye where and when he did, and
*why Ollivander prefers the three wand cores he does.

Ms. Rowling has said that alchemy sets the "parameters of magic" in the series; after reading the chapter-length explanation of Deathly Hallows as the final stage of the alchemical Great Work in The Deathly Hallows Lectures, the serious reader will understand how important literary alchemy is in understanding Rowling's artistry and accomplishment.

The other seven chapters explore, among other things, the five writing tricks Ms. Rowling uses to work her story magic, the deciphering of the "Triangular Eye" symbol for the three Hallows, Harry's "struggle to believe" in Albus Dumbledore, why Ms. Rowling revealed that she "always thought" of the Headmaster as gay, and the more than 25 echoes of her first book, Philosopher's Stone, in Deathly Hallows.

Did you wonder why Fred died in the end? Why Harry went underground seven times in Deathly Hallows? Granger explains how Ms. Rowling's story formula required these twists - - - as well as two trips to King's Cross and two meetings with Albus Dumbledore at story's end. If you're a serious reader and serious fan of Harry Potter, Deathly Hallows Lectures is a must!』

(The final storm)
『The Final Storm by Wayne Thomas Batson is the final book in the Door Within trilogy. This book answers the most asked question... will Paragor win? This gripping novel will not dissapoint!』

(Book 3 (the most cool) of a Terrific Trilogy)
『Wow. This book is great. Enough battles and peril to satisfy the adventure-lover, enough secrets to satisfy the mystery-lover, and enough coolness to satisfy the... well, cool-lover!

All around great. Granted, some might see it as "just another fantasy book", but it most certainly has characteristics that distinguish it from others in its genre.

For instance, there is an unlikely connection between Earth and The Realm... but I won't spoil that for you. :-D Also, there is a good dose of Biblical allegory, enough to inspire and appeal to Christian readers, yet not so much that the books would be termed "preachy" by most non-Christians. It would still be a marvelous book even without these themes.

This is also a welcome addition to the book world because, by almost all standards, it is clean. I have tried many other fantasy tales and been sorely disappointed by inappropriate words and references.

This book is emotional, as well. Beloved characters die, yet even in those times, there is hope...

I will mention that its main downside would be, in my opinion, the fact that there were a grammar issues that I found distracting. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the plot and characters so much that I still am giving this book all five stars.

Mortiwraiths, last stands, shape-shifters, explosions, dungeons, scrolls, fire rock, and a final confrontation between the forces of good and evil as, finally, all warriors from each side amass. Read this book (but first read the others) and read the amazing, complete, emotional, well-planned, unexpected ending of the Door Within Trilogy.

(READ THIS BOOK!)
『The conclusion to the 'Door Within Trilogy', 'The Final Storm' is my favorite of the three books. It's fast paced, and it's a wonderful ending for a wonderful series!

I don't think there is anything negative about it. First off, it's clean and moral, while at the same time exciting and engaging.

Aidan once again is in the Realm, and trying hard to find his friend, Antoinette, and another friend, Robby, while also trying to carry out a mission given by King Eliam that will bring two worlds together and defeat the darkness if it succeeds. If it fails...it won't be pretty.

I picked it up, turned the first page, and was immediately hooked. The characters are strong and it was very easy to place yourself in their mind. The romance was incredible. None of that mushy, gross stuff...this was awesome!

You. Must. Read. This. Book.』

(An excellent ending)
『The final book of the Door Within Trilogy is an excellent way to end the series. It leaves the readers feeling they have read a book written by a truly inspired author. In the final book we find Alleble under siege by Paragory. The final storm is among our heroes, will they prevail? I believe this to be perhaps one of the best trilogies ever written and would recommend it for all.』

(A Wonderful Conclusion to the Trilogy)
『Any book that can make me laugh and cry is a good one, and that is exactly what this book did to me. Is it possible for this book to be better than the two before it? The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it ended too soon.

Darkness, light, battles, knights, companions, enemies, redemption. Need I say any more?』

Now includes THE LOST CHAPTERS, four previously unpublished chapters with author commentary and editor notes!

Still staggering under Paragor's relentless attacks, Alleble's remaining allies flee from the four corners of The Realm to safety within the Kingdom's walls. But there is little time for Alleble to mourn before Paragor, the Wyrm Lord, and the deadly Seven Sleepers unite against the followers of King Eliam. As Alleble begins to lose hope, Paragor unleashesThe Final Storm. Will anyone survive to see the dawn?

What to expect inThe Final Storm, Lost Chapters Edition:

  • Extended Chapter: Original Chapter 20, for the first time, readers will learn how Paragal gathered a secret army to overwhelm The Elder Guard on the night of The Betrayal.
  • Extended Chapter: Original Chapter 21, readers will remember Kaliam and Merewen's marriage, but never were able to see Kaliam's romantic (if clumsy) proposal. Learn one of Kaliam's most guarded secrets.
  • Extended Chapter: Original Chapter 31, where readers will experience the full wedding ceremony and celebration as Kaliam and Merewen marry, even as the final storm approaches.
  • ALL NEW MATERIAL: Ever wonder what your favorite characters were up to while Aidan, Antoinette, and Robby were not in The Realm? In this double-length chapter, readers will go on an adventure to the chilling world of Frostland. Something has been hunting in the forests there, and it's up to Nock and Mallik to do something about it.

(Excellent, What If story)
『Excellent book, with a story that keeps you engaged throughout. The clashes between what is acceptable in the society of WWII versus present day adds to the drama. I'm looking forward to starting the second book of the series.』

(A Well Thought Out Conclusion)
『What makes an 'alternate history' book realistic is a well thought out result to the change in events. In this case, the appearance of a 21st century naval task-force in 1942 changes all of the major participants abilities. With new technologies flooding the scientific community, the old time line can only continue for a short time. Birmingham does a good job in the outcome of this change to the battles of World War 2.

More important than the technological advances that the 'Multinational Forces' bring are the changes to the way people view woman, blacks and mixed race people. Birmingham has a great feel for historical figures like Churchill, Yamamoto, Eisenhower, Hitler, Roosevelt, etc. He does a marvelous job of describing one of Stalin's drunken debaucheries and the fear he engendered in the highest levels of the Soviet Politburo.

His hometown Aussies probably come off better than they would in most American or British novels, but, hey, let's hear it for our team! Some of the more sociological parts that were included in Books 1&2 get short shrift in Book 3 (maybe he was afraid the book would be too long). Here's hoping that when he gets around to the next trilogy in a couple of years, he'll update us on those parts. Good Effort and Finish.

Zeb Kantrowitz』

(A decent conclusion to the trilogy)
『World War 2.3: Final Impact is the conclusion to the Axis of Time trilogy, following Weapons of Choice and Designated Targets. Those books chronicled how, in the year 2021, a UN multinational carrier taskforce was deployed to drive a terrorist insurgency out of Jakarta. Unfortunately, a nearby scientific vessel undertaking experiments into quantum tunnelling accidentally opened a wormhole through space and time, dumping the entire fleet on top of Admiral Spruance's US Navy fleet sailing to relieve Midway in the summer of 1942. With no way home, the UN force's presence rapidly changed the course of the Second World War.

The final novel opens in the late spring of 1944. Both the Axis and Allies are now equipped with considerable technological advances gleaned from the ships from the future. Jet aircraft fight on both sides, and the UN taskforce's immense AWACS and radar capabilities provide the Allies with considerable tactical and intelligence advantages over the enemy. Germany and Japan made alterations to their strategies after capturing some of the ships from the future themselves and these paid off in the short term, with Germany and the USSR concluding a cynical peace and Japan successfully invading Australia and occupying Hawaii. Driven by their superior economic base, however, the Allies are now resurgent, having retaken Hawaii and defeated a German invasion of Britain before preparing their own, improved version of D-Day. The Allies, the Germans and the Russians are now in their own, frantic races to complete the atom bomb before the others, for whoever develops a nuclear arsenal the earliest will likely be the side that wins the war.

Final Impact marks a solid conclusion to the trilogy, although unfortunately some of the more interesting elements that were being developed in Designated Targets seem to have been scaled back. The sociological ramifications of the arrival of the ships from the future continue to be examined, but not quite so cleverly as in the previous volume. The sheer mass of data that the people of the 1940s would have to absorb is overwhelming and you can't help but feel that Birmingham occasionally misses out on a few interesting possibilities (although a scene where John Kennedy quietly arranges for a young Lee Harvey Oswald to be taken into state care is a nice touch). However, with the need to bring this alternate Second World War to a conclusion the sacrificing of some of the quieter elements in favour of the main storyline is understandable. This also explains the somewhat jarring leap ahead of more than a year since the end of Book 2. Several major characters die off-page between the two books, and given the ending of Book 2 it is a surprise to find Hawaii already back in Allied hands. Birmingham obviously felt that expanding on these elements would expand the series to four books or more and I certainly understand him wanting to avoid that.

Final Impact marks a solid ending to the series, with the war rapidly winding down after the nukes start being deployed. Birmingham treats these weapons as the terrible forces they are (some military authors, Turtledove particularly comes to mind, seem to love hurling them around with almost gleeful abandon) and the impact of their use is made clear. The ending is also not particularly neat. The USSR emerges from the war far stronger than it did in real life, with the threat of a real 'hot war' with the Allies seemingly much greater than in reality, but that is not part of the story that the author is telling, so that element is left dangling. As with the prior books, the author mixes action with intriguing historical speculation with solid characterisation and a fascinating contrast of the morales and attitudes of the two time periods: the 'uptimers' are far more inured to war and suffering after twenty years of warfare, whilst the 'downtimers' are prepared to accept far vaster civilian casualties to achieve victory. There is also plenty of humour to be mined, such as SAS commander Harry Windsor having an amusing conversation with his 16-year-old grandmother or disco becoming popular thirty years ahead of schedule, as well as interesting side-effects of the transition, such as questions over who has the copyright on films yet to be made by directors and actors yet to be born.

Final Impact (****) is a solid and worthwhile conclusion to this intriguing trilogy. It is available in the UK from Penguin and in the USA from Del Rey. Birmingham's new novel, Without Warning, which depicts a world where the North American continent was destroyed by an unusual energy phenomenon on the eve of the USA's invasion of Iraq, will be published next week in the USA.』

(Another great book)
『This is another great book from John Birmingham. You should read the books in order. Well worth your money.』

(A bit mundane, but I want to read more)
『I like to read both alternate history (and historical displaements) and techno-military stories, so this one was right down my alley.

I found it entertaining with some interesting twists and conflicts, but overall it was a bit predictable and maybe formulaic. Of course, there are more books to come in the series, so there is no real conclusion.

Other reviews have given reasonable details of the book.

My rating is probably somewhat conservative. I might have found the book more interesting if I had read the first two in the "trilogy". The book was definitely good enough that I have already put those two in my cart to acquire and read them.』

『“The action is nonstop, the characters very real–and very different from each other–and, to coin a phrase, it makes you think.”
–S. M. Stirling, author of Island in the Sea of Time

In the year 2021 a multinational fleet–experimenting with untested weapons technology–pitched through time, crash-landing in 1942. The world is thrown into chaos as Roosevelt, Hitler, Churchill, Tojo, and Stalin scramble to adapt to new, high-tech killing tools, and twenty-first-century ways of war.

For“uptimers” like Britain’s Prince Harry and the men and women who serve aboard the supercarrier USS Hillary Clinton, war is a constant struggle with their own downtime allies, who are mired in ignorance and bigotry.

As the Allies counter the Nazi assault and set off for the coast of France, Japan begins to buckle, soon every battle will be played out in a lethal dance of might and intelligence, unholy alliances and desperate gambles, and each clash will be fought with the ultimate weapon; knowledge from the future.

Thanks to the historical records, all sides know that two superpowers will emerge, while the losers will be pounded into submission. But time has shifted on its axis, so none know who will survive, or how peace will take hold in a world turned upside down. These are the questions that John Birmingham brilliantly answers in his critically acclaimed adventure of war and imagination.

Praise for John Birmingham’s Weapons of Choice

“Birmingham’s enthralling battleground mixes provocative historical fiction and socially conscious futurism.”
–Entertainment Weekly

“High-tech intrigue and suspense similar to the works of Tom Clancy.”
–Library Journal

(Great Game)
『This game brings back lots of memories from playing the original on the SNES. The added movies can be turned off for a classic feel but I think they add more enjoyment to the whole experience.』

(The Quintessential Chrono Trigger)
『OK - so maybe it isn't the ideal quintessential version, but it is the best one out there so far.

The game originally came out on the S-NES, was ported to the Sony PS with beautiful animated cut-scenes, and now it is a DS Game with the most features to date.

The game itself was flawless on the Super Nintendo. The PS version had lag-time due to CD-ROM load. The DS Version boasts a beautiful touchscreen control scheme, includes the cut-scenes, lots of unlockable informational extras, extra quests, a new english translation, and a new ending.

I have replayed Chrono Trigger several times on SNES and emulator, and I had a blast replaying it on the DS. The new english translation is not essential, but I highly enjoyed it! The new ending was the most exciting aspect of the game as it expands upon the original story.

Did I mention that Chrono Trigger, the story, the characters, the imagination, the style are all beautiful, classic, and iconic. Well they are.
This is easily one of the best rpgs, no, best games of all times. I really wish they would do a quality motion picture big screen adaption. It would be awesome to see Hayao Miyazaki and his amazing Ghibli Artists bring this thing to life. Anyways I digress.

The new quests are tedious, tedious, tedious! They do not add anything. They really suck! But the new ending that is unlocked is worth it!

I cannot recommend this game enough (especially this version). Yes, ideally, they would have remade the game in 3D with voice-overs,and done well, that would have been MUCH better; still this is the best version to own right now.

Chrono Trigger is a classic, and it still more than holds up to this day. Now if only they will remake it with enhanced graphics or a big screen movie adaption, I will get that!

(Just like the good ol' days...)
『Having played some of the previous "throwback" games for the DS and Advance, I was a little skeptical about playing Chrono Trigger through again. Chrono Trigger had a special place in my heart growing up and I didn't want to ruin it! Playing Final Fantasy IV through again for me was kind of like watching a movie from your childhood years later. You remember it being awesome, but then you watch it again and are unimpressed. All of this is to say that part of me wanted to leave Chrono in my memories, but my sister got it for me for my birthday even though I am 28 years old so I couldn't resist!

Boy am I glad that I got it. Chrono Trigger is everything that I remembered it to be. The storyline, in my opinion, is still among the best that Squaresoft/SquareEnix has ever put out. The SNES was the pinnacle of the console RPG in my time period and Chrono Trigger is just one more example of why I always say that!

I know that some people can find the fights repetitive, but those of us who are used to console RPGs expect this from the game. Still, you can speed up various aspects of the combat (such as text, combat speed, and enemy action during menu usage) which really picks up the pace.

The cut scenes that were added in are okay. They are a little bit too "anime" if you know what I mean. I wouldn't have been upset if they didn't add them at all, but I wasn't disappointed with them either. The split screen makes for a user friendly gaming experience, the music is still catchy and among the best to grace a video game, and the various sub-plots are captivating. Would I recommend Chrono Trigger? You betcha! Great game. Buy it today.

Now if they would only re-release the original Secret of Mana for DS...』

(Chrono Trigger DS)
『It's a good game, great plot, but battle gets repetitive, especially later in the game and there isn't a whole lot of replay value...』

(It's About Time)
『There are many who feel that Chrono Trigger is the greatest game ever made. Certainly it is one of the greatest RPGs ever made, in my own experience equaled only perhaps by Final Fantasy VII (never did care for any other Final Fantasy games). It's a rolicking-good-time for fans of adventure and sci-fi, and as RPGs go a whole lot of fun. More than that, the genius of its design and brilliance of its story is not debatable. It's legendary. Even better, it makes for a game that's fun!

When I first started the game I was wondering exactly how the game would make me feel. I like the deep story of RPGs, but hate dungeon crawling, random battles, and that very irritating feeling of having absolutely no idea where to go next to get the story moving again. I need not have feared, though. Chrono trigger has no random battles, it's castles and dungeons are brief not every-lasting, and thankfully, you will always know where to go next.

The story starts with you in your village on the day of the millenial fair, and you quickly meet a girl there and (using your friend's new teleportation machine) find the girl gone and yourself back in time trying to rescue a queen who has been kidnapped (and who your friend has been mistaken for because {surprise, surprise} she is the crown princess and the descent of that queen. You have some adventures come back to your time, get put on trial for kidnapping the princess, and see one of the greatest scenes in any videogame ever, as all your actions in the first hour of the game are played back as evidence against or for you. Eventually you get out of that situation (one way or another) and find yourself again traveling through time, only to find that the world was destroyed by a monster far in the future, unless you can stop it...

The prologue is awesome but the main story of the game is really amazing. You have all the classic trapping of a great legend, from a hero turned into an animal, to an ancient sword that has to be reforged, to a princess and an unlikely hero out to save the world. That's enough to make a good game. What propels Chrono Trigger into greatness is the power the story is given by the strength of the characters and writing, and absolutely fantastic presentation and gameplay. The game is loaded with humor character, from the little girl accusing you of not rescuing her cat at the trial, to a tiny furry creature who is the master magician (and keeps popping up in different times doing everything from hiking on the mountain of monsters to playing rag-time on the piano in an inn), from the goblins who wonder why you just popped out of a time portal in their closet to the Frog who talks in noble Shakesparian and the cute robot you find in the future. There were so many times when I played this game and felt real joy in the moments it presented. When I first discovered the robot in the future and his theme played, I felt attached to him instantly (he's so cuuuute), and when the hero frog leapt off saying he had failed to protect the queen, I felt so bad for him (he was really handy with sword and saved my bacon). That's the kind of thing that gets to you. I haven't felt that way about an RPG since Xenosaga's Cyborg said "Call me Ziggy", and Final Fantasy VII had girls asking a certain brooding hero whether he remembered his promise or would be their bodyguard.

It cannot be overstated how much the lack of random battles, and the constant boss battles (which you will almost always win) increase the amount of fun you have with this game. The excellent battle system which highly encourages teamwork amoung your party keeps you constantly on your toes and nervous that you could lose the battle, and never gets tedious or frustrating. The graphics may be old-school, but that about as good sprite-based graphics get. The music is very atmospheric and catchy, and the main themes are just beautiful. The story twists and turns, and how you play can determine the way certain events unfold (the game has more than one ending and you can even play past the "end"). But above all, the story and characters are just impossible not to love if you like a good story. If you like RPGs and don't mind if they're a little old, you will LOVE this game.』

(Cute pillow of my favorite Fullmetal character!)
『"Wow, how cute it is!" I yelled when I first saw this pillow and began to save money for this.
Before I bought this, I have bought the pillow of Edward. after I bought this, I thought my Fullmetal Alchemist fluffy toy collection would be perfect soon! This pillow of Alphonse is about 12.0x5.0x11.0 inches in the product details. It's bigger than the one of Edward. What's more, I love things with blue color very much, so this is really wonderful for me.
After I took it home, I put it beside the pillow of Edward. I think putting blue and yellow together is a pretty view. The most important point is that the Elric brothers will always be together in my room!^^』

This is an officially licensed Full Metal Alchemist pillow.

Crono bravely follows in pursuit, but the world into which he emerges is one of four centuries ago. In Chrono Trigger prepare yourself to journey into the forgotten past, distant future, and even to the very End of Time.

The Worlds of Past, Present and Future
In Chrono Trigger you'll journey back to Prehistory (65,000,000 B.C.) where humans and reptiles battle to wipe each other from existence. Antiquity (12,000 B.C.) is an age where the world is divided between people whose continent is buried in snow, and the magical kingdom of Zeal, a highly advanced civilization. The Middle Ages (600 A.D.) is an era of swords and sorcery, a dark time when the armies of Fiendlord rule over the land.

The Present (1000 A.D.) is the time period in which Crono, Lucca and Marle live. It is a bright and peaceful age. However, in the Future (2300 A.D.), an era of despair has taken hold with rogue machines ruling the world. After the day of the apocalypse in 1999 A.D., the prosperous civilization of humanity crumbled and the remaining people struggle to stay alive. And, finally, there remains the End of Time -- a place with no era to call its own. This confluence of time's streams transcends spatiotemporal boundaries. It is here at the gravitational center for all temporal flotsam that Spekkio -- the Master of War -- serves as your guide on time's treacherous roads.

Battle Systems and gameplay
This game utilizes a revised version of the groundbreaking Active Time Battle (ATB) System. Chrono Trigger features exhilarating combat in which the clock is constantly ticking. Characters must first wait as the ATB gauges charge, and then perform an action. This makes strategic timing a crucial element in your battle plan. In addition to standard attacks, each character has an array of special Tech skills and powerful combos known as Dual and Triple Techs. Cooperate with other characters to unleash over 50 unique and devastating moves!

Chrono Trigger utilizes great story-telling, interesting characters, action-packed gameplay, and the unique controls of the Nintendo DS to deliver a fun and well-rounded role-playing game on a portable platform.
