Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Fairly good, but not near as good as some of the other FF soundtracks.)
『The soundtracks for Final Fantasy have recently taken a turn in Squaresoft recruiting new people to do the game soundtracks. Nobuo Uematsu has been the main individual doing the Final Fantasy soundtracks up until recently, where for FFX-2 it was Noriko Matsueda and for FFXI it was Naoshi Mizuta and now Hitoshi Sakimoto. This change in composers has reflected in the form of where Square has been taking their Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 1 to 10 being somewhat the same kinda game, Final Fantasy 11 being an MMORPG, FF 10-2 being more "mission based" and now Final Fantasy 12 changing a lot from the previous final fantasy games, being more like 11 in my opinion.

As far as the soundtrack, it's fairly good but not as good as previous soundtracks in my opinion. In my opinion, Nobuo Uematsu is a better composer, but this soundtrack has a few really good songs (see disk 2 track 13, disk 3 track 13, among a few others). The entire soundtrack is much like that of an orchestral performance. This is an interesting change from the previous soundtracks.

Is this soundtrack worth buying? In my opinion it's not bad, and you may like it. If you're an avid game-soundtrack listener though this may be a bit of a disappointment over the previous soundtracks. I can't really comment on how well this soundtrack meshes with Final Fantasy XII, because I really haven't played the game as of yet. Hopefully my feelings of the soundtrack will improve with playing the game, as it stands now though - it's an OK soundtrack, just not fantastic.』

(Beware of Bootlegs)
『This is a great soundtrack with incredible arrangements and songs. My experience was ruined by one thing.. I bought this soundtrack for $50, came home, started listening. The quality of the recording was pretty good, but I noticed that the casing was not very high quality. I thought that this was just because it was from Japan.. then I noticed the pictures of the actual cd case and I started to get suspicious. Turns out I bought a counterfiet copy, made by "Miya Records", a pirate company based out of Tiwan. The lesson here is to buy only from dealers you trust.』

(Final Fantasy Music On a Grand Scale)
『Nobuo Uematsu didn't compose the score for Final Fantasy XII. In fact, the only track composed by him on this entire album is "Kiss Me Goodbye." While Uematsu, the veteran composer of the first eleven Final Fantasy games, didn't compose this soundtrack, it still sounds wonderful. Hitoshi Sakimoto composed these tracks. Some of them also rearranged from what Uematsu did, and of course, it sounds fantastic. Final Fantasy XII has a fantastic soundtrack. Just enough to get you excited about the game! Enjoy over 100 tracks and five hours of Final Fantasy goodness!

There's not much difference between the collectors edition and the original edition. The Collectors Edition has a better box. That may not seem like much, but the box is taller and unfolds like a collector's edition DVD. There's also a fantastic booklet to flip through. Other than that the difference isn't huge. The disc contain the same music soundtracks and they're of the same length. For Final Fantasy collectors, this is a pretty neat package to get a hold of.

(Final Fantasy composers have done it again!!)
『I just received this excellent soundtrack from FF XII, and let me say....it is different!! I have always been fascinated with the Final Fantasy series, starting with seven. I must admit this soundtrack is not the usual game music your used to from Fantasy, but more like orchestrated war music. The game is based off of a war crisis theme and the music goes perfect with it. For all you Final Fantasy Soundtrack listeners, this is a perfect collection to add to your others. I am dying for the game to come out, which will make me enjoy this soundtrack even more. Makes me feel like I am a part of that world when I listen to it, and I hope you get the same experience out of it too. Oh, and also buy this limited version, it has all sorts of cool pictures, especially on the CD's, it is truly a work of art. Enjoy!!』

(great soundtrck)
『The music on these CDs is very cinematic. It's not very "game"y sounding. Listening to the soundtrack is a wonderful experience and I can't wait for the game's release.』

(Blown away)
『Any huge FFVII fan, this is a must own. The music is incredible and listening to the individual songs I can pick out where they each came from in game play. Aerith's Theme, Great Warrior, and One Winged Angel are favorites on this track that stand out the most for me. Those Chosen By the Planet sends chills down my spine each time.

Even if you're not a Final Fantasy VII fan but like good music, buy this. You won't be disappointed.』

(YESSS!!! Worth every cent!!!)
『Love listening to this so much! I always feel so nostalgic that I have to pop the game back in my PS2 @ some point to get my FF7 fix ;->
Highly recommend this cd to anyone who's played the game all the way thru and sooner or later finds themselves humming the battle tune! lol!』

(Speech Less)
『There is nothing really to be said about this soundtrack. Every track is amazing just like the game. All the songs speak for them self's. Every time I listen to it I feel like playing the game.』

(The four disc masterpiece soundtrack to one, if not, the best FF game ever)
『Not much can be said about the FF VII soundtrack that hasn't already been said. It is simply brilliant, a masterpiece of videogame music that has endured the ages. Final fantasy VII was my favorite FF game and the same can be said of its brlliantly composed music, of course by reknowned Japanese game composer Nobuo Uematsu.

(A very lovely and enjoyable sountrack)
『I have come across final fantasy piano soundtracks just a few years ago and I enjoy them very much. As a piano player, I only used to practice classical music but since I have bought these I have expanded my repertoire. They are very lovely to hear and enjoyable to practice. Each time I play them I develop more and more attachments towards the characters and appreciate the people who made them possible.』

(Great Quality and shipping time)
『I would like to thank the seller for the great quality and the fast shipping :) i really liked your service』

(Love it)
『I love FFVIII and all their soundstracks. This CD just makes me relax or concentrate depending on the situation.』

(Wonderful)
『I loved the compositions from the game and I think Nobuo Uematsu is a great composer, fitting perfect music for perfect environments.
However, I could not abide the repetative synthesised instruments that accompanied the music on most occasions. I recently bought the original FF8, thinking they perhaps implemented real instruments..but no luck.
Then I saw this! Absolutely amazing... A single pianist plays 13 of the greatest FF8 tracks, with clever re-arrangements, you can listen to this, fully imersed in the Final Fantasy atmosphere. My highlight must be the card game theme, shuffle or boogie...an excellent take on the 12 bar blues. Anyway, yes, buy this! Also you get it in Japanese packaging...which is always good, for some bizarre reason the have a little plastic see-though sheath which the real case goes in...lovely.』

(Beautiul music (and I hate the game too..))
『Yes, I'm one of those people who hate FF8. Having said that, I heard a friend play this music one time, and not being that familiar with the music, I was intrigued. He told me what it was and after listening to 2 tracks, I bought the album. And it's nothing short of GREAT. The composer is a genius, and I'm now thingking about getting all the Piano Collections. It's a shame not many people know that game music is as beautiful as this.』

(Not as good as part one, and that's rough)
『This is parts 3 and 4 of a four episode show off of the final fantasy game of the same name. The show isn't based on the game, but they have the same setting.

I watched this with part one. I don't think it would be so easy to follow without having seen part 1. This begins with the main character Linally having merged with the wind crystal. It went in through her chest, but manifests its guidance by making her [...] cheeks glow when it wants to show the adventurers something. (She wears a shirt and panties but no pants.) Somehow that says a lot about this show. There isn't really a cue to the audience that this is because of the embedded crystal, so not having seen part one could make this confusing.

I preferred part one to this video, mostly because here there long tedious fight scenes. One of the better features of these is that there is a longish sequence with totally inappropriate music. The music is happy and jazzish and would better accompany something having to do with a chokobo than with a going to the moon to fight the death god scene. There is comic relief here, but it seems forced. The best part of the video is seeing the setting from the video games drawn out and little details added.

Overall I don't recommend this movie. It's not so terrible, but it isn't wonderful either. Also because you only get two 30 minute episodes you don't get much video.』

(I enjoyed it)
『I love this movie I dont know if i like it because i just love FF your not but if u like FF i reccomend them.』

(FF2 is cool....)
『i like FF2. the game and movie are cool. i like the art in this movi, and the story goes with the game. if you have any question please e-mail me at fick300@hotmail.com』

(This movie blew me away!!)
『It blew me away with the graphics and the sound from the stereo and you have to play the games to understand the movie!!!』

(Well, at least it was better than FF vol. 1)
『Well, I totally hated vol. 1, it was so stupid. This one was much better. It told more about the plot and it had a lot more action than vol. 1. I still thought the characters were too goofy and the animation could of been a little better.』

(hmmmmm)
『I feel it is only fair to preface this by saying that I got this video as the free thrid video in a buy two get one free bin. So the low cost probably shifted my expectations. This contains parts 1 and 2 of a 4 episode show off of the final fantasy game of the same name.

In many ways this was surprisingly good (remember I had low expectations). There was plenty of comic relief. The plotline is not so similar to that of the game. The setting is similar, so you see places from the game drawn out in cartoon form. Some of the details there were nice. Often there were small details added that were nice to see and maybe had inside jokes.

As other reviews have said, many aspects of this were over the top to the point where it feels more like a parody of anime than an actual show. The main character Linally wears a man shirt (and not particularly big) with no pants. There are plenty of panty shots, including magically glowing butt cheeks that have something to do with the wind crystal's power. It's not so graphically drawn and she looks like she's about 10. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less disturbing.

I think that if I had had any sort of expectations that I would have felt hollow and empty after having watched this. But since I had no expectations, I kind of liked it. I wouldn't watch it again, and there are only two episodes here at 30 minutes each so you aren't getting much.』

(an okay show)
『personlly this product had only two downsides
1. it should get reralesd on DVD put togerther vol 1 and vol 2 i mean cmon square really
2. if it gets reralesd make the chocobo yellow or gold not pink when i saw that i was like wtf cmon now other than that it would be good
good sides
1. shows what final fantasy really is swords magic guns airships and chocbos
2. i would recmond this off of ebay and find the dvd verson where there put together for moneys worth
3.it is final fantasy. spirits within isnt.』

(amazing final fantasy!!)
『this movie is very underated.. it nice for the time... remeber people we dident no what ff would look like 3d so this is the result of a 2d game.. i loved it! it's kinda far off from ff5.. but it's a nice movie.. if you dident like it i recomend you (final fantasy:unlimited) a very good ff anime..』

(DVD Anybody?)
『This classic anime would better be represented in a DVD . . . though it does portray many of the usual Anime/Manga traits and comic devices along with a fairly easy to understand plot. Also, it has little or no relationship with the Final Fantasy games (though none of the games are inter-related either). Definitely worth adding to any good collection. . .』

(This movie stinks!)
『This movie is awful. No story to speak of. Just stupidity galore and fanservice. This movie has nothing to offer as an action or fantasy story. Don't waste your money.』

(worthless, thought i'd see horror not porn)
『this movie wasn't scary at all, except seeing how old the women look just 5 years out of college. there was one 'reunion' shot where there were some like 60 year old women, luckily they didn't show their breasts. plus, enough with the strangulation, horror movies don't have stranglers dressed like ninjas. i actually checked this out from the library and found myself wondering who does the movie selection for them. i probably would have liked it if i'd seen it on skinemax when i was like 15.』

(sequel = necessary)
『i heard they were coming out with the sequel soon which will be titled, "Oral Examination." supposed to be even better than the first!』

(probably the worst movie i ever seen in years)
『this movie is totall junk, bad act, bad plot, bad actress, even the nude and sex scenes are annoying. this tile should go directly go tho garbage can. keep your money and stay away from this crap.』

(What a DUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not waste your time!)
『This must be one of the worst movies this yr-poorly acted, terrible plot, lousy actors, and very perdictable. I admit I rented this movie to see some shots of Kari Wuhrer but I did not see any-just 5 other babes who could not act at all-this looked like a movie made by Playboy productions-plenty of bare breasted chicks but no substance. What was Kari Wuhrer doing in this flop? At least she can act somewhat but in this one she seemed way above the rest of the cast because even her below par performance was far better than anyone else. In addition there were no shots of her in this movie which added to the disappointment--don't try this movie-you will be very disappointed if you are a Kari Wuhrer fan-the fox did not show it at all----』

(FLUNKED WITH A CAPITAL F)
『Disjointed....predictable..derivative. Those are just a few of the adjectives I attach to this sub-par slasher flick. The director had these five"babes"so to speak, so he had to make sure they each got their nude scene accompanied by lounge lizard music. They caress their bodies, play with their boobies and do all kinds of stupid things, just to show off their anatomical gifts. It's so poorly done that it's not the least bit titillating, pardon the pun. Add to this that not one of the ladies can act (Debbie Rochon is as usual repulsive in her attempts). Kari Wuhrer and Brent Huff as the cops should be ashamed of themselves for participating in this quickie. The plot is as predictable as they come and the extra twists at the end are only good for snickers.
If slasher films continue to degenerate into pablum like this clunker, the genre should be retired. R.I.P.』

『A secluded tropical hideaway becomes a serial killer's site for revenge when four beautiful girls arrive for their five-year college reunion of sorority sisters and succumb to gruesome murders, one by one. 『The Return of the King arrived in perfect condition, exactly as described. It was shipped from Canada but it was no different from the American version, except for one insert. I did not mind this. I would recommend using this seller. The ship time was pretty fast.』

(One Ring To Bring Them All And In The Darkness Bind Them)
『So here it is, the crown jewel of the three films. While the third film was already a tiring (for some) 3 hour 20 minute venture, this extended edition of 50 new minutes of footage extends it to an impressive 4 hours and 10 minutes. Again the cast delivers and thanks to this extended version, Christopher Lee and the actors who played the Witch King and Mouth of Sauron (its been awhile since I've watched the documentaries); as I was anticipating to find out what happened to Saruman )Christopher Lee being one of my favorite actors) and was expecting a little more from the Witch King, how threatening Gandalf made him feel then all we see of him is in the big battle, fight Mirando Otto and then get defeated. I find it hard to critique this one as I find no faults with it at all, until we get to the end, where it does drag a little but that's an otherwise small complaint for an otherwise flawless film. Action sequences are the best of the three; the Battle of Pelennor Fields being the highlight and Sam's moment of fighting Shelob as a brilliant moment of the character showing his loyalty to his friend. Howard Shore again provides an excellent score and Into The West is a great, melancholy song to end the trilogy.』

(Lord Of The Rings (Platinum Extended series))
『All I can say is Great! Great! Great!
We especially love the actor interviews.』

(AWESOME!)

It's a wonderful thing that the makers of this DVD decided to trust the public and incorporate the "deleted scenes" into the movie, where they belong. It's also very fine that they chose to add so many scenes that help us know and understand the characters and the depth of the story, instead of just more action scenes. Not that I don't like the action, but this is a story of great human interest, of courage, compassion, amazing strength of character. This comes through with much greater impact than in the "cinema" version. The relationships between the characters are much more filled out and their depth is easier to comprehend. The trust they have in each other and the support they give one another is more representative of what is found in the books. I'm glad they did these extended versions, and I appreciate their length. After all, if you need a bathroom break, there is always a pause button.

(Stellar service from sender, steller product.)
『The product was in TIP-TOP shape. NEVER before opened, everything was brand-spankin'-new, no dings, no corners bent and the extended edition of this film is the ONLY way to see this movie. There's a Blu-Ray edition coming out of these movies&I knew that before purchasing this Extended edition of the 3rd installment of the series. However, the blu-rays are the theatrical releases only&the extended edition blu-ray comes out way later, so I opted to purchase this in DVD. This Extended Edition is more thrilling, 50 minutes (almost an entire HOUR)of extra film added to the viewing experience seamlessly integrated into the whole film.....a gazillion hours of extras-bonuses-goodies. An Extended Edition on DVD is far superior than a stinkin' Blu-Ray THEATRICAL release, hands down. Get this extended on DVD to hold you over 'til Blu-Ray Extended Edition packaged with better stuff, then it'll be PERFECT. If you play the DVD on a Blu-Ray anyway...like my PS3...the quality of the DVD gets upscaled, so you're still getting a win-win deal. Trust me...don't think...just buy this. End of story!

『WithThe Return of the King, the greatest fantasy epic in film history draws to a grand and glorious conclusion. Director Peter Jackson's awe-inspiring adaptation of the Tolkien classicThe Lord of the Ringscould never fully satisfy those who remain exclusively loyal to Tolkien's expansive literature, but as a showcase for physical and technical craftsmanship it is unsurpassed in pure scale and ambition, setting milestone after cinematic milestone as the brave yet charmingly innocent Hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood) continues his mission to Mordor, where he is destined to destroy the soul-corrupting One Ring of Power in the molten lava of Mount Doom. While the heir to the kingdom of Men, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), endures the massive battle at Minas Tirith with the allegiance of the elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom), dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) and the great wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), Frodo and stalwart companion Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) must survive the schizoid deceptions of Gollum, who remains utterly convincing as a hybrid of performance (by Andy Serkis) and subtly nuanced computer animation.

Jackson and cowriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have much ground to cover; that they do so with intense pacing and epic sweep is impressive enough, but by investing greater depth and consequence in the actions of fellow Hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd), they ensure thatReturn of the Kingmaintains the trilogy's emphasis on intimate fellowship. While several major characters appear only briefly, and one (Christopher Lee's evil wizard, Saruman) relegated entirely to the extended version on DVD, Jackson is to be commended for his editorial acumen; like Legolas the archer, his aim as a filmmaker is consistently true, and he remains faithful to Tolkien's overall vision. IfReturnsuffers from too many endings, as some critic suggested, it's only because the epic's conclusion is so loyally inclusive of the actors--most notably Astin--who gave it such strength to begin with. By ending theLOTRtrilogy with noble integrity and faith in the power of imaginative storytelling,The Return of the King, like its predecessors, will stand as an adventure for the ages.--Jeff Shannon

(Almost perfect)
『The only reason i did not give him a 5 was i had a hard time getting my merchandise on time but it was only 2 days late. Otherwise, and it was around the Thanksgiving holiday and i do realize that was out of his control. He was very good but there was a ripe in the bottom of the package also. Not sure if the post office did this or distribution. But all in all my son will be very happy christmas morning and that is all that i wanted in the first place.』

(The beginning of the final round/Naruto, Neji&Shikamaru)
『Uncut Volume 5's regular edition starts off mostly as a training arc, with everyone recovering or suffering from the effects of the preliminaries and some training for their next opponent. Much of this focuses on Naruto and a new very important character, Jiraiya. This perverted old man is actually a link to Naruto's past, and once convinced begins to train Naruto to control the Nine-Tail's chakra within him. There is some more character development, especially for the mysterious Gaara, who could definitely use it, and Neji.

The rest of the box set focuses on the final round matches between Naruto and Neji, and Temari and Shikamaru. One is a pound it out battle between opposing skill sets and ideals and one battle is chess match between two tactitians. Both of these serve to be quite entertaining, but through out the matches you still anxiously wait for the battle between Gaara and Sasuke. Which unfortunately, you'll have to wait until Volume 6 (Naruto Uncut Boxed Set, Volume 6) for.

This volume is the usual high quality release of the series, with a good amount of comedy, character development and action. It comes with the usual set of 3 discs and the storyboard booklet for a very nice price. I definitely recommend it.』

(still good)
『Love this show, my kid loves this show. It's nice to have a kid's show that has actual character development and thematic intent.』

(excellence continues)
『with Volume 5 of the popular anime series Naruto.

It includes 13 episodes mostly centering on Naruto and other students getting prepped for the finals of the Chunin Exam that they are fighting in. Rock Lee is in the hospital and struggling with not being able to compete in the tourney. Gaara is well...still a psychotic, mind warped loony that enjoys killing more now than ever. Naruto is well himself but he's trying to strength himself before his fight with the blockheaded and full of himself Neiji. Who believes that you can't change your own fate.

It ends with the upcoming match between Sasake (whom finally returns from training just in time to not be disqualified from his match) with Gaara. It will be an excellent setup and opener for Volume 6 that looks to continue to ramp up the action for our hereos and the people of the Hidden Leaf village as a major plot is about unfold right in their faces.

Great volume and price for a show that i continue to enjoy despite all else.』

『The Chunin Exams enter their final round as the popular fantasy-adventureNarutocontinues. The arrival of Jiraiya, the lecherous arch-ninja known as The Sage of Toad-Mountain interrupts Naruto's intensive training regimen. Jiraiya wants to ogle the local girls, but Naruto wheedles and fusses until the Sage agrees to teach him the powerful jutsu used to summon a monster toad. His first efforts are unimpressive: All he can conjure is a tadpole. But Jiraiya's instruction enables Naruto to tap into the extraordinary spiritual power of the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon imprisoned within his body. Drawing on this energy, Naruto defeats Neiji, avenging his cruel treatment of the gentle Hinata. But more serious matters overshadow Naruto's match: Sasuke vanishes from the hospital and everyone fears Orochimaru may be involved. Or is Sasuke's disappearance linked to a plot by the leaders of the Sand and Wind Villages to break the peace treaty among ninja and destroy the Hidden Leaf Village? At the center of this intrigue is the highly anticipated face-off between Sasuke and Gaara, the murderous psychotic who fights with enchanted sand. Sasuke arrives just as the match is slated to begin, and the collection ends on a cliff-hanger. The filmmakers also provide plenty of slapstick, ramen dinners, jutsu, and cartoony tantrums thatNarutofans expect. 『This is a very interesting film and it deals with time travel. Imagine this..you're on one of the most powerful aircraft carriers of present day and you get whooshed back in time to just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. I won't spoil it for future viewers, I'll just say I really enjoyed it! Kirk Douglas and Michael Sheen are excellent and add their own quirks to the film.
A must see. What would you do??』

(Great Sci Fi)
『This has traditionally been on of my favorites. An older film this boasts a very good cast and a what if scenario, if history could be changed. If you like military films and Sci Fi you may well enjoy this film.』

(One for a remake)
『The Final Countdown has always been one of my favourite what if movies.
I purchased it on Blue Ray and was surprised at how well it turned out. Most of the time when they take an older movie like this and put them on BR and you watch them on a large screen TV 50 inches or better it is still like watching a VHS tape on a big screen. The BR Copy I bought was like a VHS upgrade to DVD. By no means as clear as BR should be but much much better than I expected to get.
Hats off to the remastering team that did the work on these disks. BR and DVD.

Lastly. Would it not be cool for a good director and production team to remake this movie. And not ruin it with PC garbage or turning it in to a global warming commercial, or turning it in to a liberal anti war propaganda reel.
Wouldn't it be cool if it was done right with today's effects?

What if』

(Modern Classic)
『This movie has always been a favorite of mine. The special effects were good enough for the time and still do not take away from a very entertaining movie. The Blu-ray clarity has added a wonderful aspect to all the flight operations. This movie was made the cooperation of the Navy and everything is actual footage and not computer generated. The F-14s and the Confererate Air Force Zeros performed amazing maneuvers together. The cast is first rate and made the movie work. As an added enjoyment, watch the interviews with the "Jolly Rogers". Naval Aviators always have something fun to say and don't worry about being politically correct.』
『With a tantalizing "what-if?" scenario and a respectable cast of Hollywood veterans,The Final Countdownplays like a grand-scale episode ofThe Twilight Zone. It's really no more than that, and time-travel movies have grown far more sophisticated since this popular 1980 release, but there's still some life remaining in the movie's basic premise: What if a modern-era Navy aircraft carrier--in this case the real-life nuclear-poweredU.S.S. Nimitz--was caught in an anomalous storm and thrust 40 years backwards in time to the eve of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor? Will the ship's commander (Kirk Douglas) interfere with history? Will the visiting systems analyst (Martin Sheen) convince him not to? Will a rescued senator from 1941 (Charles Durning) play an unexpected role in the future of American politics? Veteran TV director Don Taylor doesn't do much with the ideas posed by this potentially intriguing plot; he seems more interested in satisfying aviation buffs with loving footage of F-14 "Jolly Roger" fighter jets, made possible by the Navy's generous cooperation. That makesThe Final Countdowna better Navy film than a full-fledged time-travel fantasy, but there's a nice little twist at the end, and the plot holes are easy to ignore. James Cameron would've done it better, but this popcorn thriller makes an enjoyable double-bill withThe Philadelphia Experiment.--Jeff Shannon

(AWESOME)
『The product came on schedule, it was boxed wonderfully. The person who I gave it to for Christmas loves it. Even my dog loves it but the human won't let the dog have it. The pillow is very soft.』

(Very cute but not big enough for me. ^^)
『I'm a new but very zealous Fullmetal Alchemist fan. I love collecting things just like music CD, DVD and toys of Fullmetal Alchemist. I collected this too of course. It's fluffy and with vivid color just like Edward's hair. The face of this pillow is so cute. In the TV series, sometimes, Edward's face appears just like this. When I first saw this pillow, it made me laugh and I decided to buy it right away! I love not only Fullmetal Alchemist but also toys and dolls, "I wouldn't miss this wonderful thing for my collection." I thought.
However, I still think this pillow is not big enough to me. It's only 11.0x5.0x11.0 inches, I love fluffy toys and dolls as big as my teddy bear which is about 20x10x18 inches.
Generally speaking, this pillow is really cute and very fluffy. I often nestle it while I'm sleeping, it feels wonderful! Take it home and let it gives you good emotion and a nice dream!^^』

(Fluffy ^0^)
『It's fluffy and fuzzyish, and fairly durable looking... (I really haven't tried to tear it apart to test how durable it is...) Plus, it's a good conversation starter about Fullmetal Alchemist. People are bound to ask you what the heck that funny looking pillow is that's over there, or they'll stare at it, and then you at least ^_^
It really is a nice pillow thing, although, because of the yellowish shade of it's pillowiness I wouldn't recommend that you sleep on it with especially espcially oily, muddy, or the whatnot hair.』

『Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist will want to equip their living quarters or bedroom with these super deformed pillows of the Edward Elric. Approx. 16" in diameter.』

(very good)
『Well im using this as a model not to play with. But its pretty cool, well worth the wait.』

(Good over all, but with a little joint trouble.)
『This figure is beautiful and well design, like all of Play Arts figures but the only problem I seem to have with it is the leg joints. The joint at the hip had some trouble for me, the right joint was WAY to loose, till the point the leg actually popped off the hip joint, while the left leg was way to stiff, not being able to move at all. But other then that a great buy! Worth it if your a huge fan of the game or Play Arts.』
『From Square Enix. Following on the heels of the best-selling first series, the characters of Final Fantasy VII have been made into highly articulated Play Arts Action Figures based on their original PlayStation game likenesses! Standing 9-1/4" H, Sephiroth is not only one of the most popular characters from Final Fantasy, but also considered one of the greatest villains in video game history. Sephiroth is finally available in his original game form with the Masamune sword, one of the only weapons to be featured in every installment of the long-running series. Sculpted under the supervision of this figure is highly poseable, with at least 20 points of articulation.』

『I ordered this item and another action figure Zack Fair, from this seller, and I kept getting emails that my order couldn't be completed. The weird thing is, I ordered a Cloud action figure from another seller and the order went through.』

(Very Detailed Figure since the Mario Family figures)
『This figure is very detailed, and almost realistic, I have not played around with the figure and still in it's packaging, so I don't know about the poseability, but I take it from the other reviews here, that it is indeed poseable. This figure is the most detailed figure that I have seen since the "Mario Family" figures, except the "Mario Family" figures are not poseable. This figure is also pretty good size as well, unlike most figures which are usually like 1/2" to maybe 2" in size, this one makes all them looks incredibly small.』

(Aerith)
『This figure is very posable with optional hands and her trademark staff. This is a very well done representation of the character from FF VII. The detail is excellent.』

(The Best Figure I've ever had)
『This was a very well made figure. It was beautifully made and I liked how I posed it.

I'd say if you're a Final Fantasy VII fan who collects these kind of things, they you should buy this.』

『For the first time ever, the characters based on the Playstation game likeness of Final Fantasy VII have been made into highly articulated Play Arts Action Figures! Collect all three characters: CLOUD STRIFE comes equipped with his famous BUSTER SWORD. TIFA LOCKHART is attired in a mini-skirt, with all details accurate right down to her dolphin tail hairstyle. AERITH GAINSBOROUGH is in a soft pvc dress, to allow for poseability, and comes with her trademark Staff. Sculpted under the supervision of original character designer Tetsuya Nomura, all three figures are highly poseable, with at least 20 points of articulation, and stand approximately 8 tall.』

(Must Have To Win)
『A vivid fan of Final Fantasy, I've come to realize that if I want my sanity to stay intact, I need strategy guides to pull through. Especially with this game (and it's younger half, FFX), you need to have a guide unless you like a long, time consuming, challenging experience. Some people like playing it for real and figuring out the puzzles themselves, but even with the guide, the game gives the same amount of satisfaction and excitement.

This guide should answer any question, explain every concept and go into depth on the subjects most of us skip over. It perfectly spells out what you need to do and how.

From my own experience, the game and the guide come short of the pair of the FFX game. But the game is definitely worth playing! And without the guide, you're on your own!』

(Seller fantastic, Book...not so much)
『The shipping was fast and the product arrived in lovely condition. However the book itself was poorly written, and if you're buying this I STRONGLY recommend reading the mini games section first as the only way to see the entire ending of the game is if you complete some of these things, a fact which is not mentioned until well AFTER you're 1/4 of the way through the book itself. I was very satisfied with the purchase, but as most of you know FF isn't a short wham-bam game and it was horribly disappointing that after getting 15-16 hours in we realized we'd be watching the end of the game on youtube anyways =p Also, there were still parts that were explained in such uncertain terms we ended up using the internet to find the answers anyways. A die hard FF fan....I was extremely disappointed in Dan Birlew's product this time.』

(Great Art Work, Great Guide)
『Nearly all the way through the game and a 100% completion in one run. Without a guide like this I don't see how anyone could get 100% even after several times through the game.』

(First time amazon purchaser)
『My purchasing experience was excellent and my daughter was very impressed with this item as a gift. It was received timely and in excellent condition.』

(Very Resourceful)
『This strategy Guide is very very resourceful full of information and its awesome! Tells you where everything is and how to get there. If you wanna complete the game with 100% this strategy guide book is here for you!

(Very Helpful)
『This book is very helpful. chances are you can beat the game without it. however if u desire to beat it a 100% i say get this book』

(I like it)
『I love final fantasy, but the question is, who doesn't? lol
the shipping of this guide took some time, but it was okay, since i love to expect stuff coming in the mail.
i love the game crisis core, and the guide was helpful with the missions. ^^』

(Solid, though not without several flaws)
『Overall, this is a very good strategy guide that I WOULD recommend to others. But, keep in mind the following:

- If you want to avoid spoilers, avoid reading the paragraphs on the first page of each new chapter. They summarize the events of that chapter.
- There are quite a few errors littered throughout the book. So far, I've noticed a few incorrect item locations in the mission section, the name of one mission is plain not even listed in its little subsection (The Five Saints of Wutai), the list of skills necessary to earn the Magic Pot on the DMW is slightly incorrect (should be Fira, not Fire), etc. etc. Just be weary. They're not major, but they are noticable.

Other than that, this guide is great. It can really help you out if you ever get stuck, and the mission strategies are great. If you don't own the Materia they're suggesting you use, you can always use a lesser form of it or look up the enemies in the very thorough bestiary to see what would be effective against them. Oh! Before I forget, this guide also has a whole section devoted to how the DMW and combat system work so no longer will you be confused about that. Also, the fold-out poster is a godsend for those looking to get the most out of materia fusion.』

(Great strategy guide)
『Very detailed step by step intructions on how to get through with colorful depictions of what to do. A must buy for a true Crisis Core fan!』

(It serves its purpose...probably too well.)
『I am one of those people who must uncover every item, secret, and ending that's available in a game. And though this guide provides those options to me, the trade-off is having the story spoiled well-before I've earned it. Granted its the price to pay since I chose to use a cheat book, but I just wanted people to know what they're in for should they decide to purchase it.

Other than that it's an excellent enhancement to your gaming experience!!』

(The best game I have ever played.)
『Title says it all. It is the best game of all time for RPG fans. It is one a great game, its storyline is incredible, The open-ended feature is what I look for in any RPG, and it was one of Final Fantasy's great downfalls when it stopped using that feature in FFX on. It's also one of the harder games I have played. It is unfortunate, but today most games they produce are extremely easy, even on hard mode. This game is at a great level for me, because I can beat it without putting much time into running around for random encounters and leveling up, and it's not easy like that, but it can be done.』

(Masterpiece!)
『Final Fantasy games alone have a reputation of having an excellent storyline, game play, high replay, and excellent graphics (despite the first FF games). I have owned a copy of this game since it's release. A friend from school recommended that I try it out and I've been hooked ever since! If you have NEVER played this game, play it ASAP!

Final Fantasy VII is a well-known masterpiece in the gaming world. It combines an excellent storyline, a superb soundtrack that you will most likely remember for ages, fun game play, excellent graphics (granted, it was the first PSOne FF game and PSOne graphics back in the day ruled!), and much more! It's three discs long so it will keep you pretty occupied. It has a bunch of side-quests and mini-games. The storyline is quite captivating with themes of love, friendship, comedy, betrayal, and of course ACTION! The storyline expands from a rebellion against a big corporation, Shinra, that is sucking the life out of the planet to settling an old score and saving the world. The main character you play is Cloud Strife, an ex-soldier mercenary whom in the beginning of the game works for AVALANCHE.

You can purchase new, stronger weapons and accessories in the game as you progress. In addition, there are materia that contain magic properties to cast spells, summons, enable skills, and to support your character's statistics. There's a traditional leveling system, the more you fight, the faster your characters' levels and skills increase. In addition to that leveling system, your materia levels up with you all the way to master level. It has the traditional battle system, turn by turn (I forgot the name for that).

I guarantee you will love the story, the gameplay, and of course the graphics and cgi scenes within the game. The game is a masterpiece overall and not just in my opinion but in most (if not all) gaming websites/magazines rate this the best RPG of all time. If you love RPGs, you will LOVE THIS GAME. If you are new to the RPG scene (like me when this came out), then this will be the PERFECT game to start you off. Not only that, but you will want to play the rest of the games of the Final Fantasy series.

If you like this game, I recommend buying the rest of the games for the Final Fantasy VII series. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII (for the PS2), Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (for the PSP), Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (DVD or Blu-Ray).
If you would like to play this series in chronological order, then play it in this order:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children』

(Overrated? I no longer think so!)
『Final Fantasy 6, a.k.a. Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES, was a great success. Many magazines like GamePro and EGM have praised it for its rich plot and complex scenarios. Nintendo Power even called it "the RPG hit of the decade." Fans of the Super Nintendo and RPGs rejoiced over how great this game was, and with a slew of other RPGs on the system like Chrono Trigger, ActRaiser, and Nintendo's A Link to the Past, a lot of fans---myself included---generally regard this period as one of the best video game production times of our generation, if not THE best.

Along comes the Sony PlayStation. For some, this marks the end of the Golden Age of classic video games. I don't entirely agree, as that system was the home of a handful classics; Castlevania: Symphony of the Night revitalized the Castlevania series and outranked many of the 3-D games that cropped up at the time. Metal Gear Solid redefined stealth action and brought Solid Snake into the mainstream. Mega Man X4 continued the saga of Mega Man X and combined the old-school flavor of Mega Man with arcade-style, frenetic action.

Now, we get into Final Fantasy 7. The first game, besides the original, to be correctly numbered. If you've read my FF6 review, I said that that game was the end of the magic era and the introduction of industrial technology. FF7 takes that further into a dystopian technological atmosphere; its bleak, dark outlook is not dissimilar to Ridley Scott's Blade Runner. This was a stark contrast to the previous games that were about grandiose medieval adventure. No more dragons, colorful highlands, and sorcery. No more saving the princess from mortal doom. No more four crystals and light warriors.

When I first played this game back in 1997, my first thought was "This isn't Final Fantasy! I mean, they curse in the game, too! How dare they change my Final Fantasy?! How dare they take away what I loved about it?!" Yet, many of my friends loved it, and still love it for its nostalgic factor. Heck, it's sold over ten million copies worldwide, making it the highest-selling Final Fantasy of ALL time.

Coming from that stubborn mold, I didn't give the game an objective eye and realized years later that I initally rejected it under a false pretense. Is it my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time? Well, no, but I am giving it its credit now, and there are many aspects of the game that help make it the top-selling Final Fantasy game.

The story centers on a former SOLDIER named Cloud Strife, who joins the AVALANCHE group in trying to take down Shinra, Inc., a megolomaniacal corporation that's draining the planet's life force. He's a bit less colorful than some of the main characters of past Final Fantasies (even further games), but through the course of the game, he has a very interesting backstory. He is joined by Barrett, the leader of AVALANCHE and the closest video game character akin to Mr. T; Tifa Lockhart, a sexy martial artist and friend of Cloud's; Aeris, a flower merchant who turns out to be a "Cetra," the previous owners of the planet; Red XIII, a cat creature that was experimented on by Shinra; Cid Highwind, a pilot with Dragoon Knight characteristics (and ironically, shares the same last name as Kain from Final Fantasy 4! What delight!); Vincent, an immortal that previously worked with Shinra before his "death"...and Yuffie, a young thief who plays tricks on the party. Oh, and then there's Cait Sith, but let's move on...

The villain that everyone talks about from this game is Sephiroth. In my FF6 review, I thought Kefka was the best Final Fantasy villain ever. I still believe that, but Sephiroth is still one of the greatest villains in any RPG. Sephiroth does have some interesting motives; he is originally Cloud's friend, even a mentor, and the best member of SOLDIER for a time. However, upon learning what appeared to be his real past (not quite real, but no spoilers here!), he progressively goes insane and is hell bent on bringing back the "Promised Land," which basically means wounding the planet and sucking its life force. While he's not your typical, heartless villain (not saying Kefka is typical, but you feel from the first hour of that game that he is downright evil.), he is a mentally distraught, horribly twisted person, and that progression of madness that worsens throughout the game is actually very well transitioned. Plus, he is responsible for murdering Aeris, scarring the mind of my RPG generation forever.

While the battle system only allows three people, the Materia system and the Limit Breaks add fun to the game. While I adore Final Fantasy 9, 7's Limit Breaks worked better, and they also level up. The Materia system is based on your weapons and items' slots, allowing you to interchange materia like ice, fire, lightning, restore, and other things. They also do things differently depending on how they're linked to other materia and ALSO if they're attached to your weapon or your accessory. This adds some fun to the battle, and you can even interchange materia without disrupting the level of the particular materia slot you're using.

The story is as epic as any great Final Fantasy should be, although I do admit that the ending is a bit lax...still, it was followed up by sequels, so at least the story did continue. Most of the characters are interesting, even colorful (Cid and Barrett's constant swearing definitely added flavor to this FF entry!). Cloud's complex relationships with Aeris and Tifa are among the story's highlights, and of course, the culmination of Cloud facing his former friend and idol.

The music is once again composed by Nobou Uematsu, and he delivers once again. My ONLY complaint is not with his compositions itself, but with the sound quality. The Sony PlayStation had a superior sound chip system in comparison to the Super NES, yet the sound quality of games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 (er, 6!) blasted you with superb sound quality. I don't hold this against the game to any large degree, but I did find that kind of odd...especially if you hear Michiru Yamane's score for Symphony of the Night or Toshihiko Horiyama's score for Mega Man X4.

Overall, my final opinion of the game. I've grown to like this game despite my love for the more medieval-styled Final Fantasies of the past. This one was a departure from the past, adding more mature elements into the game (colorful language, sexual references, etc. etc.). Definitely your big brother's kind of RPG. While some may dispute its "overrated" longevity, its success on the Sony PlayStation became a part of that system's legacy and it also brought RPGs to the mainstream audience.

Yes, it's insanely popular, but give the game its due. It's worthy of the qualities that have made it the best-selling Final Fantasy, and while it may not be my personal favorite, it kicks major amounts of awesome nonetheless.

Other Recommendations:
Final Fantasy 6 (in my opinion, perfectly accompanies this game)

Breath of Fires 2 and 3 (SNES,PSX)
Xenogears (PSX)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (PSX)』

(Bad graphics doesn't always mean bad game)
『I'm on my dad's account and I'm 13 and I found this game under my tv and started to play it. to my surprize it was fun and mostly easy. i had just beat kingdom hearts 2 (also a very good game) it is made by the same person who made final fantasy 7 and I think it was the best horrible graphic game i have ever played. yes i know that the game was made a long time ago so im not going to judge it by that. but i really liked the game. if u don't mind bad graphics and sometimes haveing to figure it out then im sure you will love this game like i did. (maybe you should try to play kindom hearts also, best game ever)』

(A MUST HAVE!!! SERIOUSLY!!!)
『Words alone can't express my love and passion for this game! There is so much at work here. I can't think of ANY other game... past, present or future, that has had so much of an emotional and profound impact on me then FFVII! The only characters I didn't like were Cait Sith and Yuffie (The Materia stealer.) I sometimes wonder how the story would have turned out if Aeris HADN'T died. If only Cloud had pushed her out of the path of Sephiroth's masamune (that LOOOOOOONG sword of his.) Oh, well. She's in a better place now alongside her first love interest Zack.
This games replay value is EXTREMELY high. The Materia system is ingenious, and there are so many side quests, optional bosses (Ultima, Emerald and Ruby Weapon. All of them HARD as HELL), level 4 limit breaks and master weapons for ALL characters, that it will keep you occupied for at LEAST a month! I had to play and beat the game several times just to fully understand and comprehend the extremely complicated storyline. In my opinion, I think people should play and beat the game a few times BEFORE watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Just so they get a general understanding of what's going on before Meteor nearly wiped out all human existence. Not everyone survived, but if it hadn't been for the "interfering" Lifestream, NO one would have! So count your blessings and be especially grateful to Aeris! She watches over all of us (in a metaphorical sense of coarse.)』

『like new』
『Long recognized as role-playing games par excellence, theFinal Fantasyseries gets a technological makeover in this installment (and series debut on the PlayStation). Shedding the two-dimensional graphics and limited sound capabilities of its predecessors,Final Fantasy VIIfeatures lush 3-D graphics, beautifully animated "movie" sequences, and soundtrack-quality music. Coupled with the game's intricate storyline, endearing characters, and immense yet highly imaginative world, these new advancements make for a quite an engrossing experience.

The story ofFinal Fantasy VIIcenters around a solider named Cloud Strife, who joins forces with Avalanche, a group of resistance fighters, to take down an evil mega-corporation known as Shinra. (The fate of the world hangs in the balance, of course.) Truly epic in scope, this four-disc game requires a considerable amount of time to complete---this reviewer gladly gave up over 80 hours of his life to finish it. But it's definitely a rewarding adventure that every PlayStation owner should consider undertaking, especially since it's now one of the low-priced "Greatest Hits" titles.--Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Intricate and absorbing storyline with endearing characters
  • Immense and highly imaginative game world
  • Special battle system
  • Beautifully animated movie sequences

Cons:

  • Your friends and family may feel neglected

(I don't get it Square Enix)
『I am a fan of Final Fantasy. I have played most of the main series titles. The original Final Fantasy Tactics and it's subsequent PSP remake is probably my favorite game I have ever played. I come to Final Fantasy again and again looking for 2 things. A deep and compelling story and great game-play.
This game is an odd combination to me. The story is lame. It is childish. Based on my first couple minutes, I had the impression that this was an attempt at making FF Tactics for kids. So here is where things get strange. The game-play/character progression is incredibly deep. 6-7 races, 50 classes, hundreds of abilities to learn. I can't imagine why they decided to marry a childish storyline with such a deep game. Very odd choice to me.
I would recommend Fire Emblem ahead of this one if you have a DS. If you have a PSP, Final Fantasy Tactics and Jeanne D'arc are way better games.』

(New story, nearly same gameplay as the DS Tactics)
『I need to first say that I loved the FF Tactics Advance game to pieces. I spent hours on it&even kept playing afterwards in an attempt to finish all of the quests&completely beat the game. (However soon after I was grabbed by the desire to replay the 2nd Golden Sun game&try to get to the special level, which trumped any FF playing.)

In any case, I figured that it was a safe bet I'd probably like this game. I will admit it- I put it off for a good while because I was afraid that it'd be too close to the other game&I'd get bored by it. That fear hasn't showed yet, although I will admit that I'm not as enchanted with this version as I was with the Advance version.

Never fear though- there's still a lot of interesting things to do&see in this game. I like that the graphics are a bit better (although with an upgraded system I guess I should expect that)&I like that the battle laws are displayed on the top part of the screen where it can be easily seen&remembered, where the previous incarnation made you jump through hoops in order to look them back up again.

Fans of Tactics will love this game. Fans of FF will be more than likely to love it. People who aren't fan of turn based RPGs may not be as enchanted. Me? I'm a long time fan of turn based RPGs, so I'm in hog heaven with this game.』

(Massive Challenge)
『"To reiterate, the current expansion, Chains of Promathia, has steep requirements at almost every turn that players must complete in order to reap the rewards that await at that story arc's conclusion. In the broader scale of things, Final Fantasy XI has a much steeper learning curve than games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, requiring six-person parties (or larger) to achieve most anything in the game. "

"level-capped areas..."
- From 1up.com 03/15/06

It's hard. And time consuming. I've been a video game player for a long time now and after playing this for awhile, I have to say that the missions contained in this box are some of the all time hardest I have ever come across. A casual game player, like someone who maybe knows who Super Mario is, would not stand a snowball's chance in hell of passing even the first mission. The complexity and challenge of even the first set of three missions is staggering. It requires absolutely perfect play from the people participating. You must have no distractions. You must always have a complex and planned out strategy for every single step of the way. Oh and "level capped" areas mean you will need to expend more in-game money to have an entirely different set of equipment for when you can scrape a party together to go on these hard "capped" missions (which also mean your characters strength, defense and abilities will be given a serious handicap/gimping).

Of course, the payoff is huge. The final area, which players call {sea} is beautiful and provides access to rare Armor and item upgrades not available anywhere else. Chains of Promathia was designed in many ways to be the ultimate challenge for people that have already become experienced (no pun intended) in this online virtual world. I guess it can be said that an extreme challenge is a lot more fun than going around and defeating every monster in sight in the easy new player areas.

The more seasoned players need new pastures to play in, and this expansion pack provides (most importantly) many, many new zones and locations to travel in (not just "sea"). Perhaps that is the most important aspect of this expansion pack - the new areas, some of which are normal and regular exp camp locations. So not having this means less invites to "exp" party groups (which allow the character to grow stronger).

The actual storyline and animation of movies/cutscenes are very nice, really. They truly are deep, pleasing and rewarding. There are elements of J.R.R. Tolkein and the Neverending Story at work here, along with tons of very original material from the writers over at Square Enix. The work you have to do to see this journey unfold, though, is very rough going.

For serious Online Role Players, Final Fantasy XI, with its high learning curve and deep complexity, is the ideal choice. Oh, and if you are a casual gamer who thinks they are ready for a challenge, well then step up. It just might take you awhile to get past the Promyvions. (;』

(3 stars b/c I haven't gotten to the CoP zones/quests yet...)
『After about 3 months of playing FFXI with the Rise of the Zilart expansion I did decide to get the CoP expansion as well. At the time of writing this, I have about 60 days of playtime in FFXI and am still not leveled enough to really experience the CoP expansion in its entirety and in the few weeks since installing CoP I have not seen any vast change in the gameplay. Personally if I had waited a bit longer I could have gotten FFXI, RoZ,&CoP in the bundle pack all in one which I would recommend to anyone buying Final Fantasy XI at this time. In a few months a 3rd expansion for FFXI will be released called "Treasures of Aht Urhgan" that will add even more jobs such as the Blue Mage and more summoning monsters that you will be able to call as a Summoner. So if your going to jump on the FFXI bandwagon now, buy the bundle pack that includes Final Fantasy XI Online, Rise of the Zilart,&the Chains of Promathia expansions now before the 3rd update is released next year. Why buy 3 expansions when you need them when you can save money and get 2 now in the bundle and get the new one when it is released.』

(An Expansion for Serious Players)
『Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia is the first North America expansion pack for the popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Final Fantasy XI. Like the main game, it is rated T (Teen: Blood, violence), but the content largely resolves around battles with cartoonish opponents, and will be appropriate for most children sophisticated enough to understand its basic controls.

The expansion adds a dozen or more new areas, many new quests, and a major new mission arc, substantially extending the game plot. However, much or all of the new content is locked behind either relatively high level restrictions or challenging quests that cannot be completed without the assistance of a solid group of players. This is not an expansion that alters the experience a new player has with the game -- instead, it extends the life of the game for people who have already played it for months or years.

Much of the criticism leveled against the expansion is that it does little to add new features to the game, such as new races or jobs. Square-Enix, in designing the expansion, has definitely chosen to focus on adding more places to go and things to kill, rather than new toys for a starting character to play with.

This expansion is really only of interest to players who have already sunk 100+ hours into Final Fantasy XI; if this describes you, and you haven't already purchased the expansion, do so tonight. If you just want to try Final Fantasy XI out, you do not need this expansion to do so.

Pros:
* Nice new areas for higher-level characters.
* Level-capped areas let parties of disparate levels play together.
* New plot available for players who have finished the main game plot.
* Areas such as Promyvion and Bibiki Bay are visually gorgeous.

Cons:
* Most of the content is not accessible to lower-level players; some is out of reach of even higher-level casual players.
* This is NOT a standalone expansion; you must have purchased the original game to play it.

(Flawed, but still the best MMO out there)
『I've been playing FFXI since beta and while my love for the game is obvious to anyone, I will be the first to admit that it's flawed, and certainly not for everyone.

I've played every major MMO release since Ultima Online, and I will say the FFXI definitely offers to the most bang for the buck: there are literally thousands of quests, exciting and fascinating missions that reveal storyline elements, and some of the most gorgeous sights you'll ever see in any game- period.

In Ultima Online I primarily played a craftsman, rather than an adventurer. I was a Carpenter; I loved my craft, and I made good money at it. Since I left UO, I've always been looking for a game with a crafting system as enticing as that was, and FFXI is the first I've found not only to match it, but beat it. Like so many things in FFXI, crafting is not nearly as simple as you might think. Crafting involves using a crystal (of which there are 8: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Light and Dark, each associated with a unique weather pattern, raw element, celestial formation, and color), combined with a number of ingredients, to create something new or, in the case of Lightning crystals, to deconstruct an item to its raw materials, allowing you to then construct something else from those materials. Fans of the anime series Full Metal Alchemist, as I am, will find this system particularly fun. Many things impact your crafting results, like the day of the week (and its alignment with the crystal you're using) and the celestial formation your facing, and new aspects are still being discovered!

Now, to be fair, there are aspects of the game that I dislike. The economy is quite unbalanced. You have to be selective as to what you craft, and do plenty of research on where and how to attain the materials you need as cheaply as possible, because many times you will end up losing money on a synthesis. The moral there is simply be aware of the risks, and research what you're doing. The fact that crafting does take a level of intelligence and effort does say something about the craftsmen of this game, though.

Secondly, there are problems with so-called gil sellers; people who try to earn as much gil as possible and resell it using services on the web for real-world money. My opinion on the morality of this matter is not important, but the problems these individuals create for players is quite appearent: competition for attaining rare items off NMs (or, Notorious Monsters/Named Mobs) is very high. Yet, while it can be difficult it is not impossible, and from the hunts that I've won, it has made my reward personally all the more fruitful.

The level grind is also a factor to consider. This game is not World of Warcraft, or City of Heroes. There is a serious grind. It's harsh, plain and simple, and it will take you and your character some time to get over that initial speed bump. To be honest, leveling is my least favorite part of this game, because of the time involved and the frustrations that case arise. I quit the game for a number of months because of this, in fact. But, I realized a couple of things: Leveling isn't everything- there is so much to do in this game, no one should have to consider leveling as their focus. Secondly, even as annoying as it can be, the leveling is so worth it. The rewards you get for progressing your character - if only the sights you see and the places to explore - is so worth it. I've never been able to say that about any MMO before.

So, in summary: The game is not perfect, and it can be aggravating at times; but hands down, its the best MMO out there, and definitely the most rewarding. You'll only get as much out of this game as you put into it. Work hard at developing your character, and you'll experience what FFXI truly is.

If you're looking for epic game play, exciting adventures, rewarding experiences, and the most for your money, I'd definitely recommend FFXI over anything else out there right now.』
