(Fantasy Reality)
『I loved the game and I really love the soundtrack just as much. Nobou Uematsu is the premeier composer in video games and I thought his departure would hurt the game as Square went to Nintendo.

Maybe square enix lucked out but this soundtrack is great for anyone that ever liked any music from Mozart, Tchaikovski or Beethoven. Much more than the classical music angle I love hearing music from the game while I'm working. It makes the day go much smotther.』

(The music is great but some tracks are too short.)
『This album is a very good sampling of music from FFXII; it captured pretty much all of the tunes from the game that I was hoping to hear. It contains 31 tracks and over an hour of music. It is a good deal if you don't want to spend ungodly amounts of money on the full multi-disc set that is out there. This "Selections" version also comes with another disc that contains a video for the "Kiss Me Goodbye" song, but it was a one-time viewing for me since i've never understood how lame songs like that end up on these Final Fantasy soundtracks. They just don't belong.

Anyway, my only problem with this collection of music is that some of the tracks are a little too abbreviated. I own the full set of FFX music, and one of the good things about that set is that they automatically repeated some of the shorter tracks so that it feels like you're listening to a real song---as a result, some of my favorite tracks, which would otherwise be only a minute and a half, are about 3-4 minutes long. Unfortunately, they didn't take that route with this disc. Some of the best tracks in the collection, such as "The Salikawood" and "Nalbina Fortress," end up being only about a minute and a half long, which just feels too short when you are listening to the whole soundtrack.

All in all, though, i would still recommend this soundtrack for big FFXII fans.』

(One of my favorites!)
『I have a lot of Final Fantasy soundtracks, and I have to say this is one my favorites! I loved hearing some of my favorite songs remixed with a pop/metal/rock/techno style, and I was impressed with the themes by Your Favorite Enemies. If you like the previously mentioned types of music and Final Fantasy, give it a whirl.』

(A desecration of Nobuo Uematsu's legacy !)
『I had very high hopes for this soundtrack as I understood that it would include rearrangements of the main cues of the first ten Final Fantasy games, including the beloved battle themes. That would have made for the ultimate arranged album of Final Fantasy.
What I found though is a terrible mish-mash of weak j-pop/techno/hard rock that shows the total misunderstanding of Uematsu's great work by, among others, Tsuyoshi Sekito (who is one of the main arrangers on this album).

There have been many attempts at rearranging FF music in the past, ranging from good to excellent, in my opinion. But at some point, there has been a distinct choice to make the music really pop-like, and this started with the abherrant "Advent Children". The score, like the movie, was a total desecration of one of the most beautiful stories ever told and one of the best video game scores of all times (Final Fantasy VII).It was clearly an attempt to "broaden the audience", but at what cost? Everytime someone tries that, quality takes a deathblow because the executives suppose that the mass has no taste at all and thus do not demand quality.
So it's hard not to get the feeling that the people at Square decided that RPG fans, like most youngsters nowadays, love that soulless hard rock, dance and techno "music", if one dares call it so...
We thus get a score that totally lacks any creativity and heart. Most of the tracks are unbearable (except the FEW they left untouched) and actually manage to ruin the original ideas.
We must not encourage this downfall of one of the last realms where musical talent can truly express itself (alongside film music) or else music will really be dead!

IF YOU HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR THE GREAT NOBUO UEMATSU'S WORK,
DON'T BUY THIS CD ! ! !』

(Final Approach)
『This was purchased for my 28-yr.-old son. It held significant meaning to him and as he put it, "It went DEEP in its message". When we viewed the movie, I enjoyed watching his reaction. It was a special wish come true.』

(Not what you think)
『This movie is NOT at all what you may be thinking it is about. It isn't about fast planes( the digital sound does not enhance the story, this is not a story about SR-71s!) and it isn't about war or secret missions, or cool spy stuff. This movie is a philosophical movie(and not even that!), but I won't tell you more or I'll give it away. Its a fairly good movie - not too deep, but it will stay in your mind. Elizondo is excellent in this piece, a very likable guy. That's about it.』

(Behind the Scenes)
『I worked on this movie and it truly was ahead of it's time. It was shot in 1991 with anamorphic (widscreen) 35mm cameras. The sound design was different than any movie up till that time and probably since, in that surround sound is almost always the 'gravy' of the audio meaning it has a part in the audio, but isn't as important. Well this movie dared to make the distinct digital surround channels as important as the front channels. The problem we ran into is 99% of the theaters couldn't handle the powerful surround channels that this movie had! They would crackle and distort. But when we found a theater that could handle the sound, wow, watch out. 90db of pure digital power especially with the afterburners in the SR-71.

Unfortunately, only a DVD with it's discrete digital channels could show you how it's supposed to really sound. I'd like to see this release in Blue-Ray or similar. Who knows, maybe this movie will have a resurgence.』

(What the H***)
『After reading all the great reviews I purchased this film. All I can think of is this the same film the reviewers saw?? I was tempted many times to hit the stop button but because of the reviews, thought, "it's got to get better soon". It didn't. It simply ended with everone watching saying "what happened?" It seems to simply be a vehicle to try out some special effects. Go back and watch 2001: A Space Odyssey if you want FX.』

(Great Little-Known Experimental Film)
『This is the first all digital sound film ever made, originally developed as just a test bed for new digital sampling, editing, and ADR technologies; it developed into a psychological film with surprisingly good acting. Everything about it actually gets better and better the further in you get. By the time we're at the scenes with his wife and the bathtub, the directing of the actors is spot-on realistic. The radio chatter is probably the most authentic of its type you'll ever hear, including references to the Tonopah Test Site where stealth tests have actually taken place. There's probably more high quality SR-71 stock footage in this than any other tape you'll find. My only complaint is that some of the ADR cockpit stuff is for a pilot who obviously doesn't look like the actor. But that's something that can be overlooked on an experimental film with such a small budget. There have since been other films that have used the same general story concept, but with a different framework, including a non-scifi French film that came out the year after this one did. While some have said that one is a bit subtler, I'd still have to say Final Approach is even more of the art house picture. The recent big budget incarnations of this concept, in my opinion, have just been horrible. It's too bad this film might never get released on nonrental DVD...』

(Where did my previous review go?)
『I wrote a review of this a while back and now it seems to be missing. At any rate, stay away from this piece of garbage. Having been a long-term horror fan, it really says something when a guy like me gets grossed out because a movie is about baby after innocent, defenseless baby being killed. And all because they are SUPPOSEDLY the second coming of Christ. Let me ask you this: if you were Christ and you wanted to come back because Damien was the anti-you, would you come back as a creature that was too weak to fend for itself? Of course not!!! You would come back as an adult so you could have at least a 50-50 chance of winning! In other words, the filmmakers made a conscious choice to have babies as the main victims in this movie. Sick, sick, sick!!!!』

(One of the worst movies I have ever seen...)
『And that's no lie. I recently decided to watch the entire Omen series and then review them in order. When I hit this one I realized I had made a big, big mistake.

Not unlike Damien: Omen II, Omen 3: The Final Conflict flashes forward to another period of Damien's life. Now in his thirties, Damien is the head of Thorn Industries and has just been appointed a US ambassador. As it was foretold in the original Omen, he is steadily rising to the top of the political world where he will soon usher in his father's rule. But all that changes when a particular constellation signals the second coming of Jesus Christ himself, threatening all Damien has worked for. To nip this problem in the bud, Damien simply calls upon his followers to carry out a mass marder of all male infants born at a certain time. Meanwhile a band of vigilante priests have recovered the seven daggers necessary to destroy Damien and plot to take him out.

What a hopeless bomb of a movie. One of the most convoluted plots ever weighed down further by horrid acting, dead slow pacing, and more plot holes than you can shake a stick at. Lets put it this way, if the final battle between heaven and hell induces yawns, then it's safe to say that something here isn't being presented very effectively. Even the great death sequences that have become a trademark of The Omen series are completely absent here. We have a priest falling off a bridge into some water, a hound dog attack, maybe a stabbing...That's about as creative as this one gets. The vast majority of the movie is Damien sitting in his office barking orders at his personal secretary and occasionally spouting off sacreligious banter at a crucifix. Believe me, it's as exciting as it sounds.

There's really no way I could recommend this to even the most hardcore Omen fan. This has strayed so far from what made the original great that it's almost unrecognizable as an Omen movie. There are really only two things that remain consistent throughout the Ome series: The Jerry Goldsmith music score, and each movie is half as good, (or twice as bad) as the last.』

(Part 3! 3 Stars!)
『Sorry, but I have to talk for a moment about the concept of the "Part 3". I like watching Part 3s, especially Part 3s to successful, blockbuster flicks. By the time you get to a Part 3 in a series, the screenwriters are trying their damnedest to put a new spin on the story and take it in a different direction to separate it from the first. This usually results in laughable, silly and outrageous ideas on film. After all, everything cool and worthwhile was in Part 1, and sometimes you can wring a few interesting concepts from a Part 2, but by Part 3 you're really stretching it(and of course even more so if more sequels are made). Stuff like Star Wars and Back to the Future don't count coz they were envisioned as trilogies from the getgo. But Part 3s can be very fun to watch in their own right. They might be bad films(in rare cases they are better than the Part 2), but can be enjoyed in a different way than the first film was enjoyed.
It's because of Part 3s that Rocky is getting thrown out of the ring by Hulk Hogan, and that Superman is teaming up with Richard Pryor and dealing with an evil twin. It's also the reason Karate Kid 3 ended up being Karate Kid 3.
Well, in this case of Part 3s, I'm talking about the Antichrist. No, not Will Farrell, good ol' Damien from The Omen. In the Final Conflict he has managed to go from 5 to 32 years old in the space of 5 years. He is now reigning king of Thorn Industries and ambassador to Great Britain. He gets a bit worried when he finds out that Christ has recently been reborn, and sends his "Disciples of the Watch"(Ha! Now I know where Testament got that!) to kill all babies born on that particular day. If that weren't stressful enough for the Antichrist, there's a gang of Antichrist hunters out to assassinate him. Armed with those daggers that were given to Gregory Peck in the first film, they periodically attack, only to fail of course. Besides, wasn't this act supposed to be carried out on hallowed ground? Oh well, it's a Part 3.
There's also a reporter who has the hots for Damien, then eventually realizes who he is, but by that time her son has been brought into the Antichrist fold. Damien also introduces her to the wonderful world of rough sex.
This movie is okay. It's not terribly exciting, but just interesting enough to make you want to see it through. Yes, some new concepts are thrown in, but this movie really doesn't feel like a horror film at all, and that's a far cry from the first Omen. I've always really liked Sam Neill, but it's difficult for me to buy him as the Antichrist. He's too nice or something. He seems more just like a corrupt and shrewd corporate headhoncho than the son of the devil. Plus, you'd think the "final conflict" between Jesus and the Antichrist would be a bit more epic. I mean, this is the battle of all battles, baby!! This should be Cecil B. Demille on friggin' steroids. This should make Lord of the Rings look like Deathstalker 4.
Oh, well. I guess for a movie that was pretty unnecessary to begin with, it wasn't all that bad.』

(Omen 3: The Final Conflict (1981)-Not bad for number 3.)
『Omen 3: The Final Conflict (1981) was a four star sequel and pretty darn good for number three in any series. The best thing about this film was that it introduced many of us to Sam Neill who was quite good in the role of Damien. After this movie I started taking note of all the films that he made.』

(Very Impressive OMEN)
『I think this is the best of the OMEN trilogy. It is definitely the most believable for this genre. Sam Neil is very good as Damien. Powerful Gerry Goldsmith score and great cinematography and atmosphere are outstanding. There is gratuitous violence and killings along the way but these are played down and are very low-key compared to this film's predecessors. For instance, the outrageous violence was the focus of the second OMEN film. This film puts these on the backburner and focuses on the central characters and theme. This is a very impressive film.』
『TheOmenseries concludes with this second sequel, starring Sam Neill as the adult Damien--a.k.a. the son of Satan--in a battle with the heavens for control of mankind. The film ends up depending more heavily on effects and spectacle than on the kind of basic horrors that made the first movie in the series so unsettling, but at least this one gives some closure to the seemingly endless saga.--Tom Keogh
『Set in an eerie future, The Great Recession has arrived. As worldwide starvation and economic doom prevail, so does Damien who relentlessly continues his sinister plot to control the world.

Damien's evil power reaches out across the Atlantic when he's appointed ambassador to England. With an ominous band of satanic supporters behind him, its only his first stop on a political path he plans to culminate as President of the United States. But first, he enters upon a manic hunt for his arch-nemesis (God) an wreaks havoc all along the way.

A disturbing and shocking exploration of evil, the prophesy of Armageddon sets this film, and Earth, on fire.』

(Not The Best But....)
『I always wondered what they would come out with after the Voyage Home and I wasn't too surprised by what came up. Some of the insight into the main characters backgrounds was nice but the movie really just didn't make it. I liked OK, but not one of the best Star Treks.』

(Why does Amazon.com put all these positive reviews on here?)
『This movie was considered by most people to be horrible.
Why does Amazon.com put these fanboys reviews over even serious critics
Ebert, denounced it as the worst. So somebody will buy this B-movie?

(Give it a break!)
『I've read a lot of criticizm toward this movie on here. It's not THAT bad! Come on, it's got action, philosophy and comedy, the ingredients to a proper Star Trek movie! No it wasn't the best. Yes the plot was a bit weak, but I personally think it was a half-decent movie. The effects are decent for the time it was made, the acting was good, maybe could have been a bit better. I suppose the plot could have been used in a one-hour episode rather than a movie, but I think that everyone would agree with me when I say that this movie is NOT the worst compared to The Motion Picture, which is the only Star Trek movie I don't like because NOTHING happens in it! In this one they fight Spock's long lost half brother and find an evil alien claiming to be God (and the part where Spock gives the neck-pinch to a horse is priceless). In the Motion Picture, what did they do? Fly through a cloud. Oooooh, how exciting!

No, it's not the best Star Trek movie out there, but I say it was a fun, entertaining installment to the adventure.』

(It wasn't HORRIBLE)
『In my quest to view all the Star Trek movies, I had the somewhat misfortune of seeing them in this order: First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis, The Voyage Home, Star Trek (2009), The Voyage Home (in full this time), Wrath of Khan

So then I restarted again with the first to last.

What was so horrible about "The Final Frontier"?

Standing on its own, I thought it was a pleasant enough movie, but it suffered from a severe lack of real drama. It seemed like there was no real immediate danger for some of the film, and then Sybock comes and starts using some sort of mystic powers to "brainwash" people to his cause, including members of the Enterprise crew.

Probably the only high point of the film involved him showing the greatest fears to Spock and McCoy, and in particular, the one involving Spock was disgustingly brutal, and treated properly as such.

But where was the rest of this movie? Kirk, Spock, and McCoy resist Sybock's manipulation, but go along with him to the center of the galaxy (what?) to some barrier where supposedly the center of all the major species' religions lie (I'm not naming the garbled fake names of the others, but the humans call it Eden) to find GOD HIMSELF!

Right away this flies in the face of about 1/3 of the Star Trek episodes in SEASON ONE ALONE of the Original Series.

How many times have the crew of the Enterprise encountered some godlike creature that could easily be considered any God, or even THE God worshipped by the Christians, Jews, Muslims, only to discover it's just a hyper-advanced alien creature of some sort or another?

I can name so many of them, Trelane, the things whose names I forgot that brought Kirk and the Gorn captain to fight, Charlie Evans and his overseers, the beings from that planet that Kirk and Spock were stranded on when the Klingons occupied it, the Archons, the Gatekeeper, etcetera.

And so just because it's this time around, they think it really could be God?

To be fair, it would seem that Kirk and Spock and McCoy are probably fully aware of the fact that there is a 99% chance it's NOT God, which is only confirmed by the being's not only failure to answer, but even necessitating the question be asked repeatedly by Kirk

"What does God need with a spaceship?"

But in the end, there's no big conflict, no big stand-off or showdown or great philosophical debate of profound proportions, Sybock is vindicated of being a villain, and is immediately removed from the picture as no longer essential to the film's momentum.

And then that's it. Every instance that there may be a conflict, either physically or verbally, either turns out to be a red herring or a SHOCKING SWERVE! revealing it to be something less than it could have been.

And that's really what this movie is. Less than it could have been. But that's not the fault of the actors or the director or anyone---it's a fault of the script. The movie's overall plot is one that could and should be a 50 minute rapid-paced single episode rather than a feature length movie.』

(Heading Off to Eden? Oh Brother!)
『Shatner co-wrote the story and directed Star Trek V, which changes a lot of what we fans know of Trek and is very derivative of earlier episodes without the humor and grace of what we expect.

As in the Eden episode from the Sixties, an alien takes over the Enterprise and forces the crew to go to a planet that most say contains God. OK, not bad, except the alien is Spock's brother! Say what? And he laughs out loud and belongs to a faction of Vulcans that have emotion.

After this film, I don't think any writer has referred to this faction, nor to Spock having a brother, ever again. And with good reason. Just does not play as good Trek.

Yeah, there are some interesting moments like Kirk climbing El Capitan and almost dying in a fall and teaching Spock campfire songs, but the overall film does not have the passion and the grace of the earlier films.

The desert scenes seemed fake and the dancing/prancing Uhura was done over by another actress! Nichelle Nichols is an accomplished singer/dancer, yet this was not to be.

However, decent music by Jerry Goldsmith! The weakest of the Original Trek films.

『Movie critic Roger Ebert summed it up very succinctly: "Of all of theStar Trekmovies, this is the worst." Subsequent films in the popular series have done nothing to disprove this opinion; we can be grateful that they've all been significantly better since this film was released in 1989. After Leonard Nimoy scored hits withStar Trek IIIandIV, William Shatner used his contractual clout (and bruised ego) to assume directorial duties on this mission, in which a rebellious Vulcan (Laurence Luckinbill) kidnaps Federation officials in his overzealous quest for the supreme source of creation. That's right, you heard it correctly:Star Trek Vis about a crazy Vulcan's search for God. By the time Kirk, Spock, and their Federation cohorts are taken to the Great Barrier of the galaxy, this journey to "the final future" has gone from an embarrassing prologue to an absurd conclusion, with a lot of creaky plotting in between. Of course, die-hard Trekkies will still allow this movie into their video collections; but they'll only watch it when nobody else is looking. After this humbling experience, Shatner wisely relinquished the director's chair toStar Trek II's Nicholas Meyer.--Jeff Shannon

(enjoyed it)
『What can I say, funny stuff. I've been a fan of MST3000 since it first started on cable and am happy to be able to watch Joel and the bots again. I never get tired of them.』

(Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume XIV)
『The second MST3K DVD box set by Shout! Factory. This set contains four episodes from the show. Two episodes are from the Comedy Central-era of the show. The other two are from the Sci-Fi Channel-era. Two feature Joel Robinson as host. The other two feature Mike Nelson as host. This was the second MST3K box set that I ever got. I was extremely excited when I received it. This set also contains a few special features including a trailer for one of movies. It also contains two new interviews with Joe Estevez and Greydon Clark. This set contains four mini posters which are the covers of the indiviual DVD cases for the episodes. I would recommend this set to any "MSTie." It's great fun.』

(Yet another reason for "Misties" to Rejoice)
『Our family first caught the Mystery Science Theater 3000 bug on the SciFi Channel shortly before the show was discontinued. Since then we've fed our MST3000 habit with the periodic releases of their compilations. I confess that we prefer the episodes that feature Mike and bots over those hosted by the show's founder Joel. Volume XIV includes two episodes hosted by each. Regardless of who hosts the episode you can count on funny skits, ironic commentary on the absurdly bad films, and often trenchant observations on social trends that were current when the episode aired. Even our least favorite MST3K episodes are better than most live TV these days.』

(Oh the humor!)
『I am really happy I got this volume because, frankly, I missed many of these shows when they first were run. So for me it was like discovering MST3K all over again!

Mad Monster, Show 103, is the third MST3K played on the Comedy Channel, before it was renamed Comedy Central, and also has a episode of Commando Cody And The Radar Men From The Moon. It is one of those I missed. MST3K was brand new and it took a few weeks before people started to turn on the TV every week to watch. Like most of the first films, Mad Monster is in Black and White, a bad sci-fi film about a scientist who finds out how to turn men into monsters. Well, in this case a werewolf. But funny enough that wolf looks more like a coyote. But why nitpick on the small stuff?

Manhunt In Space, Show 413, was also one of the shows I, somehow, missed. It comes with a General Hospital episode. Both the movie and the short are in Black and White. The movie is in fact a television series in which some of the episodes were spliced together to make a full movie. There are everything from Space Ghost references to one reference to Daleks! They also talk about Cold Light, which I thought came from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and I learned to never open the hatch without peeking out a window first.

Soultaker, Show 1001, is a very famous episode within the cult that is MST3K. Not only does it have Joe Estevez, who also starred in Werewolf, and Robert Z'Dar, who was in Future War, in the film, but TV's Frank and Joel both come back to make a appearance on the show. Such love and warmth. Too bad the film is so bad. But that's good! Because bad films are Mike and the Bots' bread and butter.
They have a interview with Joe Estevez on the DVD.

The last episode in the set is Final Justice, Show 1008, starring Joe Don Baker. Mike and the Bots have a ton of fun with this film. "Hey, you going to finish that?" The movie is full of lovely ladies, gun fights, a chase with Joe Don Baker going after a Maltese mob member dressed up as a Monk. Or is it a member of the Italian Mafia? Lots of food jokes. In fact tons of jokes all about either Joe Don Baker or Maltese men. The writer, producer and director is Greydon Clark. They even have a interview with him on the DVD!

The set came with cool mini-posters - I got an extra Soultaker poster by accident! A must for any library of MST3K or any collection of bad movies.』

(Another Good MST3K set.)
『Other reviewers have done a better job than I could ever do, but I want to add my voice to the others so this great show will keep getting released. This is another good set of MST3K episodes (Soultaker is one of my favorite episodes) and should be purchased by any fan of the series. As I've said before, if you are a fan you would have this already, if not, I can't convince you to buy it.

If you want more from the boys of MST3K, check out www.rifftrax.com. They are still at it and are better than ever, riffing on new movies and old shorts.

My 2¢』

『Aside from reminding audiences just how unique and hilariousMystery Science Theater 3000was, the comedy series' 20th anniversary in 2008 also kicked off a new round of DVD releases, the latest of which is compiled inVolume XIV. Longtime fans of the Peabody Award-winning show should be pleased to see that the set's four episodes are split evenly between original host and creator Joel Hodgson and his replacement, head writer Mike Nelson. Joel rides herd on one of the earliestMST3Kepisodes, Season 1's B&W chillerThe Mad Monster, which also features writer J. Elvis Weinstein as both the voice of Tom Servo and Dr. Lawrence Erlich, assistant to Trace Beaulieu's Dr. Forrester. It's an enjoyable episode for hardcore fans and collectors, but nowhere near as polished as the work done by the original core lineup--Hodgson, Beaulieu as Crow and Kevin Murphy as Servo--in Season 4'sManhunt in Space, a grisly mash-up of episodes from the '50s TV sci-fi seriesRocky Jones, Space Ranger. It's by no means a classic from the Hodgson era, but definitely contains its shares of laughs and even some quirky host segments (the movie prompts an amusing debate on the use of the word "space" as a modifier). The Mike Nelson episodes, produced after the show shifted over to The Sci-Fi Channel, are equally solid efforts.Soultakerundergoes a punishing barrage of riffs from Mike and the 'bots, and even features brief cameos from Hodgson and Frank Coniff as the much-loved TV's Frank.Final Justiceputs Joe Don Baker--star of the MST3K favoriteMitchell--in the line of fire again for a mostly funny show that focuses largely on the star's beefy physique. Though none of the shows are high water marks for the series, you're likely to find more laughs and creativity here than on most of the sitcoms plaguing the airwaves, and as such, are worthwhile investments for veteran MiSTies and first time viewers alike. The four DVD set includes all four complete episodes, as well as several extras– a slightly smaller batch than the20th Anniversary Editionset, and less historically important, but entertaining all the same.Soultakerstar Joe Estevez andFinal Justicedirector Greydon Clark (Black Shampoo) show what good sports they are about being drubbed by the show in brief interviews, while Mike and the 'bots reunite for an all-too-brief session of zingers on a 2005 excerpt from ESPN'sCheap Seats Without Ron Parker. A trailer forMad Monsterrounds out the set.-- Paul Gaita

『Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 05/01/2007』
『Spanning two decades and countless light years of interstellar adventure,Star Trek: The Motion Pictures Collectionis a testament to the enduring goodwill of Gene Roddenberry's optimistic sci-fi concept. Long beforeStar Warssparked an explosion of big-screen science fiction, Roddenberry had planned a secondStar TrekTV series; the project fizzled, but its pilot script evolved into the first film in Paramount's most lucrative movie franchise. Despite its sluggish pace and bland "pajama" costuming,Star Trek: The Motion Picture(1979) offered a welcomed reunion of the "ClassicTrek" cast, packed with Douglas Trumbull's still-dazzling special effects. Trekkers were even more ecstatic whenThe Wrath of Khan(1982) revived the spirit of the original series, even though director Nicholas Meyer was aTrekneophyte. With Leonard Nimoy directing,The Search for Spock(1984) began whereKhanleft off, with a thrilling (albeit contrived) obligation to resurrect the formerly ill-fated Mr. Spock.

A box-office smash, Nimoy'sThe Voyage Home(1986) is the franchise's most accessible adventure--a high point offset by William Shatner's comparatively dreadfulStar Trek V: The Final Frontier(1989). Meyer (and his penchant for quoting Shakespeare) returned forThe Undiscovered Country(1991), a conspiracy thriller that put the series back on track, inspiring fans to invoke the "even number" rule in rating their franchise favorites.Generations(1994) gracefully passed the torch to TV'sThe Next Generation, bidding farewell to Captain Kirk with honor and integrity intact. Highlighted by the evolving humanity of Brent Spiner's android Lt. Cmdr. Data,First Contact(1996) exploredStar Trekhistory with a logical (hint) surprise encounter, andInsurrection(1998) provided an adequate expansion of the successfulNextGenseries. Taken as a whole, these ten films demonstrate the consistent vitality of Roddenberry's original vision, stoking any Trekker's appetite for "ongoing missions" inNemesisand beyond.--Jeff ShannonMost of the feature films were released early in the DVD era, but are represented here in their vastly improved two-disc special editions, which boast widescreen anamorphic pictures, director's cuts of the first two films, numerous commentary tracks by cast and crew, humorous and informative trivia subtitle tracks by Michael and Denise Okuda, and a wide variety of new and vintage documentaries and galleries.』

(Squall's Gunblade - it is what it is.)
『The item itself is not exactly what I expected, but it did arrive within good time and a mere week later the same item was available from a UK website for a marginally lower price and with free shipping (but that's my own fault for not waiting and shopping around a little).
It is quite a small item for the price, but if you're into collecting all things 'Final Fantasy' then this will probably not look out of place in such a collection.

『A Square Enix Japanese import! For the first time ever, the weapons of the FINAL FANTASY and KINGDOM HEARTS universes are being made available as prop replicas! Each high quality, iconic MASTER ARMS replica comes with a display stand, and is packaged in a deluxe collector's box. From FINAL FANTASY VIII, Approximately 9" long Squall's GUNBLADE is scheduled to have an opening cylinder, a hammer that can be cocked, and functioning trigger. (A great deal of fantasy)
『This is truly a great product if your a fan of Final Fantasy VII or of Final Fantasy in general. The figure is detailed and well articulated and surprisingly durable. The image of Tifa is captured perfectly, from her distinct "dolphin tail" hairstyle to her top-heavy proportions. All of her joints move smoothly and stay in place. Her legs tend to slide out of the sockets if raised to high as in a kicking pose, but easily snap back into place. Her hands are interghangeable to make an open hand or a fist. My only complaint is that she lacks the up and down joint on her ankles that the other play arts have, which is unusual since her feet are her weapons. Aside from that, this figure achieves perfection in Tifa's image.』
『For the first time ever, the characters based on the Playstation game likeness of Final Fantasy VII have been made into highly articulated Play Arts Action Figures! Collect all three characters: CLOUD STRIFE comes equipped with his famous BUSTER SWORD. TIFA LOCKHART is attired in a mini-skirt, with all details accurate right down to her dolphin tail hairstyle. AERITH GAINSBOROUGH is in a soft pvc dress, to allow for poseability, and comes with her trademark Staff. Sculpted under the supervision of original character designer Tetsuya Nomura, all three figures are highly poseable, with at least 20 points of articulation, and stand approximately 8 tall.』

(Worst Strategy Guide......EVER)
『This is without a doubt one of, if not THE worst strategy guides I have ever read in my life. I recently picked this one up to get info on items and a nice beastiary and I lost my Bradygames SG in a fire. Although for my needs it served it's purpose, for anyone who may buy this guide who hasn't played the game before....you're wasting your money. This guide doesn't arrange items so that you can easily find what enemies drop them, but that's just a pet peeve of mine. My biggest gripe is that a strategy guide is supposed to provide you with the information to devise the best possible STRATEGY. This guide makes NO MENTION of Selphie's 4 unique spells in her Slot Limit Break or the fact that The End only appears when her level is in the 90s. So you'd never know to level her up so that the MOST POWERFUL ATTACK IN THE GAME will become available. Also, unlike the Bradygames guide, this one doesn't list different combos in Zell's Duel Limit Break. So basically, you just have to do it, and hope that the move you want will become avaliable. The GF's abilities are listed in one big group with the name of the GFs that carry them next to the ability, instead of just separate ability lists for each GF. (It can get very confusing if you want to know who has what ability and when it will become available, this guide doesn't even tell you the prerequisites for certain abilities.) Finally, neither the text, nor the maps in this guide make any reference to the Islands Closest to Heaven and Hell, or Cactuar Island. The two biggest places for character statistic advancement are left out. If you're familiar with this game so that you only need charts and encyclopedic info then this guide will do the trick. But if you're new to FF8, I HIGHLY recommend the Bradygames guide. HIGHLY recommend.』

(4.5 Stars QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST FF GUIDE EVER!)
『OK, Piggyback Interactive is a company from the UK. They have a really big reputation there. They do a much better job than Prima and Bradygames do, giving you high quality guides with tons of info and crystal clear high-rez screenshots. This guide, is probably one of the greatest Final Fantasy guides ever written. You thought the VERSUS BOOKS FFVII guide was good? Wait until you see this one, it blows the Versus Books FFVII guide out of the water! And that's saying a lot.

The guide is incredibly colorful. Each section giving you a list of all the items, maps and location of all the draw points. Each section is also written with amazing detail! It's almost like the guide is talking to you.

The characters section and items section is also brutally detailed. You'll learn so much about the game it isn't even funny. The bestiary is also more concise and to the point. Honestly, who picked up the Bradygames guide and had to flip back just to learn what all the symbols mean? Much more or less who cared to use the bestiary in the Brady guide? It was so confusing and error riddled that it wasn't worth it. Not here. This bestiary throws less at you. By that I mean, only the basics. Where to find them, weakness and average HP for the basic changing levels (meaning when you draw different spells). Much easier to follow.

Also, it is possible to find all the cards and unearth every secret without giving anything valueable to the plot. This guide is spoiler free. Alongside you'll also uncover all the limit breaks and weapons.

There are a few drawbacks to the guide however.

For one, the Bestiary isn't in alphabetical order. It seems to be done based on when you run into the monster. This can be very annoying if you want quick info on what you can steal, items, weakness, etc. Not a big deal since the enemies level up, but what if you're desperate to know their weakness and you don't have a scan spell?

Also, the abilities and such is equally confusing. These list are also randomized. It comes to the point where it's annoying to find abilities. You'll find all the abilities and such on the list, but you'll spend one hell of a time searching through it all.

Finally, while items are listed in the walkthrough, they're not always called out on the map. I don't think this is a problem (especially if you could utilize the Bradygames guide, which had maps in the back of the book).

The problems are minor, and for that I gave it a five. It's probably the best Final Fantasy Guide out there. Nothing is left uncovered. If you can actually find this guide (via ebay or import from amazon.co.uk), pick it up.

Good job Piggyback!』

(Short, Sweet, and to the Point)
『After the slightly less than satisfactory Force Heretic trilogy, the future of the New Jedi Order series looked rather bleak. I feared the few remaining books would be lacking in quality, serving merely to drag the series out longer than it needed to be. However, The Final Prophecy proved to be a decisive, significant novel that began to answer questions posed earlier and bringing the long series to a close. This review does contain spoilers.

The Final Prophecy actually seems to suffer from the exact opposite problem that plagued the Force Heretic trilogy. Whereas the trilogy took three books to accomplish very little, this book accomplishes in one what could have easily spanned over two or even three novels. Not to say that the book was bad...far from it...it just could have been that little bit better had there not been so much crammed into one 305 page novel. Then again, that appears to be Keyes's style. The Edge of Victory duology was comprised of two of the shortest books in the NJO (292 pages each), but it contained some of the most significant content in the series on a character building level (Anakin Solo), a cultural level (Vua Rapuung, the shapers, etc), and a story level (the birth of Ben Skywalker). The Final Prophecy stayed true to Keyes's style in that it was short, sweet, and to the point without the bogging effect of filler material.

One thing I greatly admire is Keyes's specific focus on several characters rather than a broad focus on many characters. Time was definitely taken to better flesh out the characters of Tahiri, Nen Yim, and Nom Anor (to name a few), which was a refreshing change from the shoddy characterization in recent books.

As for the story, the book contained two plots running side by side.

The first is what I like to consider the main story. The Jedi from a loose alliance of sorts with the "Prophet" (really Nom Anor in disguise) and devise a plan to "kidnap" Nen Yim and travel to Zonama Sekot, where they hope to have various questions regarding the Yuuzhan Vong and ending the war answered. It was everything the last three books in the NJO weren't: exciting, well planned, fast paced, and significant. In one relatively short novel, Keyes managed to answer questions about Zonama Sekot that were posed back in Destiny's Way, reveal Nom Anor's plan that started in Force Heretic I: Remnant, and fully cover the effects the joining of Tahiri's two personalities (one Vong, one Jedi) had on the young Jedi.

Tahiri's portrayal in the Force Heretic trilogy was rather basic and simple, not really taking the opportunity to dive into the character's personality until the very end (and even then, it wasn't that great). Keyes did a fine job in picking up where Williams and Dix left off. Tahiri has, once again, gone from being a background character to being in the spotlight. Her struggle with her new personality was believable and her constant fight to placate and deal with her two sides was certainly interesting. For once, she felt like an individual, important character instead of just being "Anakin's little friend who was more than a friend and was devastated by his death". Tahiri developed into a more complex character in this book, discovering the source of her new Vong memories, resisting the temptation of the dark side (which has become stronger thanks to the Riina personality), and making potentially life changing decisions.

It was also nice to see the familiar face of Nen Yim once again. Other authors have portrayed her well in the past, but it is Keyes, her original creator who really breathes life into the character. She plays a vital role here and meets a rather unfortunate end in doing so. Her memory connections with Tahiri were certainly interesting and added a new dimension to her character. It was a shame to see how her end came about.

The only disappointing aspect of this Zonama Sekot plot line is that the secret of Zonama Sekot was never revealed. Nen Yim claimed to have found it, but was stopped from revealing it by Nom Anor. It was rather frustrating to reach the end of the book and not learn why the planet is so important to everyone, including Overlord Shimrra. It was, however, revealed that Zonama Sekot was the Yuuzhan Vong home world, and hopefully that will play a role in ending the war.

The second story line, while not as important as the Zonama Sekot plot, still held some important events and, if nothing else, some exciting space battles. The Galactic Alliance has finally started to put the Yuuzhan Vong on the offensive. Han and Leia got some of the space fighting action they're so fond of and Jaina got yet another opportunity to prove her competence as a colonel. The Yuuzhan Vong developed a new weapon that jams the HoloNet and makes long range communication virtually impossible. Thankfully for the Galactic Alliance, this was getting sorted out at the end of the novel. There isn't really a lot to say about this plot line, as it was just the basic space battle scene...only this time, the Galactic Alliance won instead of the Yuuzhan Vong.

Keyes doesn't seem to have a problem with throwing in random little surprises and shock factors at the end of chapters. For example, Nen Yim and Harrar are disposed of relatively quickly. I actually had to go back and reread Nen Yim's demise because I simply couldn't believe the author could so easily kill off a character the reader has grown attached to since her appearance in Edge of Victory 1: Conquest. There is also a brief surprise regarding a possible family member of Pallaeon. The author has no problem with extinguishing well-loved characters and casually throwing in little shocks, which is hardly a bad thing, but it does make for some interesting surprises.

The Final Prophecy was a great comeback from the Force Heretic trilogy. Things are finally beginning to come to a close and loose ends are finding resolutions. This book was fast paced and to the point with practically every event, every sentence holding some significance. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer.

(Road Trip?)
『In The Final Prophecy, the penultimate volume in the long-running New Jedi Order series, Nom Anor's schemes (in the guise of The Prophet) finally pay off, as he convinces a pair of Jedi (Corran Horn and Tahiri) to escort him and two other Yuuzhan Vong to the fabled living planet of Zonama Sekot. I suppose the idea of a "road trip" with three Yuuzhan Vong heretics and a pair of Jedi is something of an unrealistic premise, even for a Star Wars novel, but after three mind-numbingly irrelevant Force Heretic novels, I was so eager to get back into the "real" NJO saga that I was able to let that go.

Greg Keyes, whose previous Edge of Victory novels were among the NJO's best, serves up a fast-paced novel that all but ignores the usual cast of characters in favor of some lesser-known players like Nen Yim and Tahiri (there's an unexpected revelation about their connection), Harrar, and Corran Horn. Han and Leia Solo play a relatively minor role, and Luke and Mara Skywalker don't show up until the very end. Even the Solo twins, who have essentially been the stars of the series, are barely active in this book.

As penultimate chapters go, this isn't quite what you'd expect. I was surprised to find out that there was only one book left in the series, as it seems like there are simply too many threads to tie up in one book, but that's a problem for The Unifying Force (Star Wars: The New Jedi Order), I guess. The Final Prophecy is a good, if somewhat brief, return to the main purpose of the series, and definitely leaves you wanting more. Hopefully the final volume in the series will bring everything to a satisfying conclusion.

(Keyes Redeems as Best he Can)
『Let this be known: NJO's ending bit only lifts because Keyes is here. This bad rating is more directed at the series in general. I have nothing against Mr. Keye's work. He is great at bringing out characters and has redeemed Tahiri, who, up until now, has been a lonely, sad, depressed, character with little potential of recovering.

Keyes turns Tahiri into the star of this book and has her save the day on a few occasions, a nice turn around from the drone the previous books had taken.

Keye deserves a four for his effort, but this book doesn't make the cut as a part of the series. It does a good job of brining back a decent, detailed and deep perspective that was lost in the chaos of the other novels. Tahiri brings a strong point to the series, hats off to Mr. Keyes for saving the series at least at the end.

But some of the plot is dragged out to have Nom Anor as a religious leader bent on destroying Zenoma Sekot, which is dropped from the plot near the end. And next Jacen is attempted at being made into a better character, but not a hero.

I started to feel that this is a run on, the other books before this (after Star by Star) were a drawn out filler for the "explosive" final battle. I don't really know why Zenoma Sekot was introduced, it really makes no sense at all, (but this is not Mr. Keye's fault). It doesn't push the plot forward, it's interesting, but not progressive.

Star Wars novels NEED to be progressive and mostly upbeat. This is mostly filler for the ending. It stopped being interesting the mintute the grim side set in. (Which started with Chewie's death).

Way too many sacrifices and too many backstabbing characters, and martyrs being made.

Enough Already!!! Just replace the person in charge of this mess and give Keyes something good to work with!!

He's a good writer with little potential to work with after Star by Star. I was hoping he'd draw out the relationship between Tahiri and Anakin as soon as I saw this book. I never imagined Star Wars would throw out a junky ending to a series, but, I guess it happens.

The original outline for the series wasn't any better (See my review for the next book for reference) and the idea of killing off the younger heroes or the favorite main characters is ASKING for fans to get mad. I see little point in continuing to make Star Wars any more morbid. I read the Dark Nest Triology and I stopped. It was all filler.

I'm waiting for the good writers to get together and bring Star Wars back to life. Until then RIP, Star Wars, you were great.

(Best book in the series in a while)
『The Final Prophecy is the eighteenth book in a nineteen volume saga taking place more than two decades following the death of the second Death Star at Endor. This was a very good read. It continued the sequence of the Force Heretic trilogy that preceeded this, and although those were decent reads, this was superior in many ways. There was hardly a wasted word or page in this one. The storyline was interesting and there was little in this book that didn't contribute to the overall storyline.

Luke and his party are still on Zonama Sekot en route to the known galaxy. Meanwhile, Tahiri and Corran Horn meet up with three very different Yuuzhan Vong, each with their own wildly varying agendas. Together, they all find an uninhabited section of Zonama Sekot. Two of the three Yuuzhan Vong exhibit significant changes, but one remains unchanged, always scheming and plotting to get himself ahead of everyone else.

While all of this is going on on Zonama Sekot, Wedge Antilles is leading an assault along with Grand Admiral Pallaeon to retake Bilbringi. Only, something is definately not right when communications suddenly and inexplicably go dead. This kills the battle plan and Wedge and his entire fleet are fighting for their lives. Enter profiteers trying to steal an antiquated battle station formerly in orbit around Bilbringi. Jaina and Jag are in the middle of things, and Han and Leia come to the rescue...again.

The end of the novel leaves two massive problems for the Galactic Alliance to deal with. One deals with communications, while the other focuses on Zonama Sekot. I will leave it for you to read the book in order to find out what they are dealing with.』

(I loved the book)
『it is all about the origins of the Yuuzhan vong and of Zonama Sekot a highly interesting book i am sad that i dont remember all the details but then again i have read so manny that i tend to forget where one book end and the other begins...

Anyway if you enjoy star wars it is indeed a book i would recomend.
fairly easy reading level.』

As a beleaguered galaxy fights its way back from the brink of destruction, the Jedi’s most fearsome enemy plots to end the war–and claim victory–with a final act of domination. . . .

The troubles for the embattled living planet Zonama Sekot have just begun. As Luke Skywalker and Jacen Solo negotiate its place in the galactic struggle against the Yuuzhan Vong, one of its organic ships is taken by the alien invaders. Scientist Nen Yim is ordered to use the captive to find weak spots in Zonama Sekot’s technology. But what Nen Yim discovers about the planet and its mysteries shocks her to the core. Clearly her people have gone terribly astray. For the peace-loving planet harbors not only the key to its own destruction, but the long-forgotten secrets of the Yuuzhan Vong themselves.

Meanwhile, General Wedge Antilles, commanding one fleet in a three-pronged campaign to retake the Bilbringi system, is suddenly stranded deep in Yuuzhan Vong space, cut off from all contact. Wedge and his ships must rely on trickery and brilliant battle tactics if they are to survive long enough to ensure the success of one of the deadliest and most crucial missions the Galactic Alliance forces
have ever seen. . . .』

(Continues to be a great unique series)
『Dawn Keepers is the second installment in the Novels of The Final Prophecy. Ms. Andersen has brought a unique mythology into the landscape of paranormal romance. I was very excited to see where this book was going to take the Night Keepers. If you think you can guess, you are in for a big surprise.

We join Night Keeper Nate Blackhawk as he is trying to retrieve one of the seven artifacts that they need. The artifacts are inscribed with prophecies to prevent the end time that you can only see in starlight. The artifacts were sold off by the Night Keepers several generations ago in order to keep them going in lean times. Unfortunately, Nate arrives too late. The owner is dead and the artifact was taken. At the same time, Nate's former lover Alexis is at an estate auction bidding on another of the artifacts. On her way to the airport, she is attacked magically. Luckily Nate was worried that something would go wrong and arrived with their king, Strike in the nick of time. They tangle with a mage with red hair who has very strong powers similar to a Night Keeper. This mage wanted the artifact that Alexis had retrieved to go with the one he had acquired before Nate could. It then becomes a race to try and get the other artifacts before this enemy does. Are they going to succeed in preventing the End Time or are the Night Keepers going to be a day late and a dollar short?

Nate was never thrilled about finding out his past. Raised in foster care didn't make him all warm and fuzzy about family. He desires Alexis but didn't like feeling like their relationship was about ambition and magic rather than desire. Just because he dreamed of Alexis before he ever met her makes him more resistant to the idea that they are meant to be. Alexis has some deep feelings for Nate but she also has the desire to be important and a person of influence in this new world. Their relationship and true feelings are complicated and feel very realistic. Ms. Andersen doesn't take the easy way out with these two. They have to work through things and compromise. People don't change overnight and neither did Nate and Alexis. The plot of this series is intricate and frustrating in the best possible way. When you sit down to read, you don't know where you are going. You can't even guess how things are going to go. The Night Keepers are at a disadvantage in that they don't know much about their magic, the spells, and how they are going to succeed. They know probably just enough to get into trouble. I really like the fact that they don't have all the answers as this makes them very relatable. Please hurry with the next book, Dr. Andersen, I am dying to see how thing will go next.

(Dawnkeepers as good as Nightkeepers)
『I picked up the first book in this trilogy on a whim at a bookstore and totaly enjoyed it. The second book did not disappoint!!! I am already looking forwad to the completion novel!

Some random thoughts on the book...

With that said...I'm not sure how the author will wrap everything up in one more book but I do look forward to reading the next installment. The main source of the characters powers is foiled in this novel and I wonder how she will bring about circumstances to save the day without it in the next one.

I enjoyed these two main characters more than the first novel's duo.

Overall, a good second book in a trilogy and made we want to read the final book! Worth your time and money!

(Just ok)
『I think I preferred the first book more than this one. I couldn't get over the annoying main couple in this one. I just couldn't find myself caring about neither Nate or Alexis.

The little side story of Rabbit was interesting, but I don't see much growth in his character yet. He burned that 3 question deity to death, and I can't believe there was no fallout from that from the others.

I liked the plot, but after a while it got kind of dry to read since the romance was very low.

Personally, I don't plan on keeping this book. After reading it one time, it's not worth re-reading and taking up shelf space.』

(Read with caution...)
『Nate Blackhawk and Alexis Grey are opposites in everything but their heritage and the fate that binds them to each other. To Nate's constant dismay and irritation, Fate is beyond his control, even as the woman he is destined to be with, is the woman of his dreams. Not to mention a doomsday clock hanging over their heads and they, the last remaining Nightkeepers, are the only ones to save us all.

As the hunt for 7 precious artifacts moves onward and forward (though vaguely and marginally explained), this dwindling group of warriors continue to be set back at every turn. As a new enemy arises, the Nightkeepers themselves are fracturing. The race continues, but there lies the haunt of a past that none truly understand and will either lead them to victory, or doom them to failure.

The first book got me hoping the next one would be even better; there was promise, despite the problems. And Andersen is finally breaking away from her mentor (JR Ward), and starting to find her own writing voice--though it's not exactly spectacular. This second installment is disappointing, and a book of complete opposites. Both instinctively and literary, which is why it's hard to pinpoint exactly what doesn't work, and there's a lot. For one, people do, act, think, behave one way, then do a 180 and nullify earlier scenes--which leaves you, the reader, wondering what Andersen's trying to do, and not doing it very well.Nate and Alexis' love story was...really not, and oftentimes, frustrating and annoying. Half the time Nate is a jerk, yet deep inside, he's just a sensitive guy with problems (uh-huh), and Alexis, who continually takes the emotional beating though routinely pimps herself to him, comes off whiny, insecure and needy. To offset the troubled couple, is Anna, who continues to deny-deny-deny and wanders listlessly between her preordained duties and a normal life, one which is proving to be more sinister than expected. The fate element, despite her constant rejection of it, are confirmed when mokol-in-the-making Lucius, her grad student, stumbles upon the Nightkeepers on their own turf. Then there's Rabbit. Moody, hormonal and constantly fighting with everyone, feeling sorry for himself and falls back on the my-dad-hated-me card, manages to always mess it up every time when it really counts. And, he has finally learned the thing which had marked him outsider with a big fat question mark over his head.

The story line of finding the artifacts and what results, which is both random and chaotic, was mostly forgettable. Not to mention that the new powerful enemy was never really given justice, they were there, that's about it. And JA glosses over the weaknesses of the story (and she seems to know exactly what they are) by distracting the reader with constant action that gets predictable, old and numbing. It's also the same action sequences, just a little tweaked; and, in general, had too many similarities to the first book.

Once again, all the characters are mimics of one another, unimaginative and lacking any emotional depth--though JA tries, especially with Nate and Alexis. She overcompensates by doing too much of the usual romance bylines and trade tricks which made me wince. It feels like she wasn't sure where it was going and thus, how to tell it but just plowed through anyways. And she also struggled with what she wanted to be the focus, the battle itself or Nate&Alexis' confusing and complicated battle with each other, and ends up throwing a hodgepodge of stuff together, stirring it up and marginally connecting the random bits into something resembling a story. In the end, everything becomes too forced with very repetitive dialogue lacking any vividness or witty rapport, constant over-explanations of feelings and reiteration of the problems in inner monologues which were acted out, point by point in scenes which were dryer than deadwood--and had no heat besides.

If you can ignore bad character development, lackluster action scenes that happen in every chapter, an annoying and static romance between Nate and Alexis but familiar, then you'll like this story just fine. I put the characters and their individual woes in the background and ended up just reading it for the interesting, well-researched and deftly incorporated fact and fiction of Mayan history into a multi-layered and complicated world--which always manages to be the best character of any in the book itself, you might just like the book anyways. There is no roamnce/paranormal about Mayan lore, so this book is really unique in that front. And JA does the mythology justice. However, for me, everything out side the history element, bleh. It also makes me seriously consider continuing on, but only time will tell...』

(The Quest Continues in the Race to Prepare for the End-Time Battle)
『After successfully defending earth against the Banol Kax, the Nightkeepers have spent the past couple of months attempting to recover 7 ancient Mayan artifacts. The sacred items hold prophecies that will help the Nightkeepers prepare for the end-time battle that has been triggered by King Striking-Jaguar's refusal to sacrifice his chosen mate. The Nightkeepers have lost some momentum in the time since the battle at Winter Solstice. The demands of the Nightkeeper tradition appear to be taking a toll on the group of warrior-priests and recent failed missions are only adding to their frustration. It seems that someone else is also seeking to obtain the precious artifacts...and that someone is always one step ahead of them.

Nate Blackhawk will accept his duty as a Nightkeeper, but that's as far as it goes. Growing up an orphan, Nate has learned some harsh lessons in life, but he survived and now owns a successful video game company. Seven months prior, he had been shocked to learn about his bloodline and the parents he never knew, but imagine his surprise when he showed up at Nightkeeper headquarters only to be greeted by a living, breathing version of his video game heroine - Alexis Gray. The attraction was instant and mutual, but Nate hates the idea of fate choosing his mate for him so he rejects Alexis and pushes her away. He may be duty-bound to protect mankind, but his destiny is his own to decide; and not even the gods themselves can take that away from him.

Alexis Gray knows that Nate Blackhawk is the man for her whether or not he chooses to accept it. In the past she has had a history of staying in relationships well past the expiration date, yet somehow she had hoped it would be different this time. But much as she desires Nate, she also wants to distinguish herself as an elite member of the Nightkeeper clan. Her success depends largely on her ability to harness her powers and without Nate to boost her magic she may need to select another Nightkeeper male as her mate. Her heart may protest, but if the man she loves refuses to love her then perhaps it is time to move on. The fate of mankind is at stake and Alexis is determined to do what she can to aid their chances of winning the final battle.

Despite their efforts to avoid one another it appears that the will of the gods will not be denied as Nate and Alexis are forced to work together. As her protector, Nate vows to keep Alexis safe though he continues to deny his feelings for her. In time Alexis learns to call down her powers on her own without Nate's assistance thereby releasing him from fate's interfering hand; But an unexpected feeling of emptiness moves in to occupy the place in Nate's heart where resentment used to reside. Danger closes in on the Nightkeepers and Alexis steps up to the challenge placing herself in harm's way. To have any chance of saving Alexis, Nate must first face the truth about his feelings for her, and in doing so Nate discovers that with Alexis, he is capable of more than he ever imagined - and a life of free will isn't worth much without her.

DAWNKEEPERS picks up from where Book 1 left off with the Nightkeepers' ongoing quest to prepare for the end-time battle. Fans of the first installment will not be disappointed as Andersen continues to build upon the Nightkeeper mythos while weaving intricate subplots into this densely layered world. Keeping with the tone of the first book, DAWNKEEPERS works well as urban fantasy, but once again readers looking for a good dose of romance may find Nate and Alexis a tad frustrating. The hero and heroine score high on the angst scale throughout the majority of the book, however events tied to the overall arc of the series end up overshadowing much of their drama. Nate and Alexis may not have the most satisfying romance, but that does not diminish the exciting story of the Nightkeepers and several new twists will have readers anxiously waiting for the next installment. SKYKEEPERS (The Final Prophesy, Book 3) is due to be released AUGUST 2009.

(Awesomeness!!!)
『Final Fantasy tactics is a beautiful tactical game for the psp.

Pro's
-Beautiful rendered cut-scenes with a different "story-book style"
-The voice-acting fits the characters.
-Battles call for strategy
-Game-play can be hours long. This won't be finished in one-day's sitting!
-A long storyline with mini-quest

Con's
-Camera angle!
-Not all characters can use "potion" to heal, they must obtain this as a skill which can be annoying if your healer is way off and your units are being attacked to death.
-Advancing to other areas can mean stronger monsters. Be careful not to venture off too quickly without the proper levels and gear!

I have yet to complete this game, but so far it is good. A great buy for anyone interested in a RPG that will last for more than a month.』

(Great and fun game, but with one significant flaw. Wish I can give it 4 1/2 stars.)
『This is the first Final Fantasy Tactics I have played and I must say it was a very fun game. The plot got a little thick and confusing at times but not bad. The game play definitely makes up for the sometimes confusing plot. However, understanding how to build strong characters is tricky. It is never explained to you what the "Bravery" and "Faith" of each character represents, which is vital. Pretty much Bravery is how strong of a warrior (knight, ninja, monk, etc.) your character can become. Bravery deals with the physical attack strength and defense of a character. Faith, on the other hand, deals with how strong of a spell caster (white mage, black mage, time mage, etc.) your character can become. Faith deals with magical attack and defense of a character.

If you are like me and don't know this the game is going to be very hard and frustrating. You will have high level mages who can never hit enemies with spells because they have low faith, and high level attackers who do pitiful damage because they have low bravery. I got half way through the game and had to start from scratch because my characters were just too weak to defeat anymore bosses. The lack to explain what the Bravery and Faith are for is the major flaw (and probably one of the only flaws) of this game.

However, if you do know the importance of the Bravery and Faith of a character this game is tons of fun and well worth the buy, especially if you like role playing games or Final Fantasy. I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars.

(Greatest PSP Title)
『A game you can play for the rest of your life. A great addiction to the handheld world, giving one the dream of fighting anothers team.』

(There is a quality game underneath the extremely fuzzy graphics)
『For those who never played the PSOne original, FF Tactics is a solid turn-based RPG with outstanding length and customization features. The storyline, a complete snore in the early hours, ramps up into an unexpected gem.

However, two major complaints with the game (and the reason for the two-star review):

1. The genre has passed this game by. Disgaea (also a remake, but of a PS2 game) on the PSP has a more diverse battle system, and Jeanne D'Arc is such a polished product in terms of storytelling and gameplay compared to this one.

2. The graphics. Read every other review here, even the good ones, and you'll notice the same complaint about the graphical translation: They're FUZZY. Too fuzzy for my eyes. I felt almost sickened after the playing the game for extended periods, and could not finish playing the game as I did with the PSOne version. This, combined with the restrictive camera angles, makes playing the game a chore for the retinas.

Be forewarned. There's a good game hidden underneath the visual mess, but it's QUITE a mess.』

(Wow...just, Wow)
『When I was in college my buddy convinced me to play Final Fantasy VII. I was in to sports games and action/platformers. Those are still genres I enjoy, but my Final Fantasy VII experience created a serious love of good RPGs.
So after loving Final Fantasy VII, I learned that there was a game created by the same people that had gotten some good reviews...Final Fantasy Tactics. I plunk down my $50 only to get home and experience severe buyers remorse. This game what not at all what I was hoping for. I played the first couple of battles (never even looked at the manual) and decided that the game wasn't for me. I didn't even care when my college roommate took the game home with him for good.
Several years later, I finally came around to tactical role playing games. Not through this Square Enix classic, actually through Nintendo's Fire Emblem series. I bought a cheap used Game Boy Advance where I could play through a couple F.E. Games. Also on the system I played through Tactics Ogre and finally stumbled across Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. After loving all of these games, I knew it was time to go back to Final Fantasy Tactics. I searched Ebay and Amazon and found that picking up a used copy of Tactics was a pricey adventure. When I read that they were updating the game for the PSP, I knew I had to start saving my money.
Final Fantasy Tactics and I are finally united! It is one of the finest games I have ever played. Learn from my experience...if you aren't ready to fully commit to the game, you will not get anything out of it. You can't just pick the game up for the first time and expect to have a good time with it. You have to read through some of the lengthy tutorials and probably spend some time with an online guide. The reason I say this is because the most enjoyable thing about this game is developing your characters. Online guides are helpful in letting you know how to get to the Ninja class (my favorite class in the game), for example. There is a steep learning curve for the game, but once you are in, you will likely be hooked.
This game is fantastic in almost every way. The story is very strong. The movies scenes are amazing. I wish there were more, I could have watched them for hours. The battles are fun and fast, but a lot of the games fun (for me, at least) comes between the battles. Learning new abilities is always fun and you can completely customize your party to your liking. As with any Final Fantasy game, there are some fun side quests and cool characters to add to your party (Cloud, anyone?).
I finished the game up a couple of days ago, but part of me didn't want to. There are a couple of other SRPGs on the PSP, but I am a little afraid that I will be let down after playing this game.』

(It's my turn.)
『I missed playing this game years ago when it first came out and always wanted to try it. Thanks to amazon, I am able to do so and enjoy playing two of the early version of Square/Enix landmark series at a more the reasonable price.』

(VI is perfect in every way)
『Although V is one of the weaker entries in the series, VI makes up for the entire package. FFVI is easily the best in the series and it's the reason why the series is so good.』

(final fantasy anthology)
『this is a really good classic game that takes me back to my childhood and im glad that i made this purchase』

(Great game)
『I had some problems with the game (couldn't save the game even on a PSX memory card).
But I've exchanged it with no hassle, and expect the replacement to arrive shortly.

Some say the loading times are unbearable, but I had no delay when playing on the Playstation 2.
Final Fantasy VI is the better of the two, but I still enjoyed V as well.

All in all, it was worth buying and is worth having in my Final Fantasy collection.』

(The best Classic RPG ever made)
『Two complete classic RPG in one pack FF5 and FF6. and Like any RPG game made by Square Enix, it is the best in it's class.

1- All English.
2- Over 30 hours of gameplay.
3- Epic storyline

You might not like the ooooooooooooold graphics, but you will fall in love with everything eles. so if you are into RPG games in general these two classics are a must have.』

『Final Fantasy Anthology incorporates two of the most beloved FINAL FANTASY titles ever published. First released as FINAL FANTASY III in the U.S., FINAL FANTASY VI brings back all of the qualities that made it the best selling RPG of its time, and adds a few bonuses unique to this re-release. The second title in this compilation, FINAL FANTASY V, is seeing its first ever release in the U.S. Featuring an innovative 'Job' system and a story that will take the player to different worlds, this title will finally show U.S. gamers what they have been missing. If you are new to the FINAL FANTASY universe, pick up Anthology as way of getting to know the series that has garnered the praise of millions. If you are already a fan, pick it up to relive the magic once again.』
『Showcasing two installments of SquareSoft's wildly popular role-playing game (RPG) series,Final Fantasy Anthologyfeatures the U.S. debut ofFinal Fantasy V, and reintroduces one of the best RPGs of all time,Final Fantasy VI, originally released asFinal Fantasy IIIon the Super Nintendo gaming system.

Both games are straight Super Nintendo conversions, so their 2-D graphics and 16-bit sounds are admittedly subpar by PlayStation standards. However, SquareSoft has added brand-new, beautifully animated movies for both titles, and has givenFinal Fantasy VIthe star treatment it deserves by adding a bonus mode where gamers can access loads of supplementary material, such as artwork and data files on the game's monsters and items.

WhileFinal Fantasy Vis one of weaker entries in the series,Final Fantasy VIalone is totally worth the price ofFinal Fantasy Anthology. Endearingly melodramatic characters, a genuinely epic story line, and rock-solid gameplay makeFinal Fantasy VIjust as absorbing today as it was when it wasFinal Fantasy III.--Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Brand-new animated movies
  • ReissuesFinal Fantasy VI, one of the best RPGs ever
  • Lots of supplementary material forFinal Fantasy VI
Cons:
  • Dated graphics and sounds may bother some gamers
  • The previously unreleasedFinal Fantasy Vmay as well have stayed unreleased

(Boring)
『Pros:
It has excellent graphics.
It is quite appealing to teens.

Cons:
Repetitive fighting gets boring. (this is the game about)
It is not addictive at all. I would have bought tactics A2 better.

(Worth buying to final fantasy fans)
『first off id like to start off by saying this game is really worth buying, great story, characters, and cut scenes. Great strategy game, full of side quests and main missions and battle mode is like wow! FANTASTIC! no taking turns, attack when you want, from where you want. summon monsters and command them to aid you during your missions. overall i would rate this game 5/5 but i gave it 4 out of 5 because i think it still had something missing. but im still not sure what exactly.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO ALL FANS! worth every cent! if u want to know more, contact me at [...] and or [...]

Final Fantasy RULEZ!』

(Pretty Fun)
『This game is pretty fun. It has a bit of a learning curve because it's played almost 100% by touch, but still fun.

A lot of the levels are repeated a lot though, which leads me to believe they were either avoiding using a larger game cartridge or they were being cheap.』

(Happy outcome)
『I enjoy this game, it is long and I like that. It has great graphics. Very nice.』

(Great game)
『A solid purchase if you're a fan of Final Fantasy or RPG's in general. Takes the traditional battle mechanics in a bit of a different direction, as did FFTactics, but certainly does a good job of holding your attention. Kind of a split between an RPG and Real-Time strategy game. Good blend.

Lots of fun for all ages if you're into that kind of style. Highly recommended.』

『Background: You are Squall Leonhart, a "lone-wolf" and an outcast. He joins SeeD, an elite mercenary unit, and in order to graduate must help settle the war between the countries of Galbadia and Dollet. After completing the SeeD test, he then goes on his first mission - helping a young woman named Rinoa Heartilly to defeat an evil President. But Squall soon realizes that there is a much bigger, and sinister, evil behind all this. Will he be able to stop it?Gameplay: The gameplay of Final Fantasy VIII is slightly different from previous titles. Gaining magic is the most notable change. Instead of gaining experience and learning new spells yourself, you must "draw" your magic and spells from enemies and "draw-points". Summon monsters are also back, but this time they are called "Guardian Forces". These Guardian Forces can gain experience points to learn abilities. It requires a lot of strategy, as you can only learn a certain amount of abilities.Features: # Features an epic story line and a massive new world to explore # Dozens of hours of game play # Numerous side quests and minigames # Improved graphics engine provides lifelike characters and motion-captured animation # All enemies can be attacked with beautifully animated Guardian Forces』
