I could not ask for more. Easy clean up and perfect frying....no problems encountered at this time!!! Recommend buying a funnel/strainer. Would be nice if it had a CD player!!!』
(Great Fryer for the Price) 『 I have had several fryers of different brands and this one is definitely the better of the lot. It does take approx 20 minutes to heat the oil but once that's done it maintains and recovers temp quickly. We have been missing wings for football season (can't find a place near that has good wings) and were very happy be able to make them the way we like - this fryer's size lets us continuously put HOT wings in front of our guests (&ourselves LOL). Also worked great for our first attempt at home-made onion rings. Large capacity and quick recovery were what we wanted and this unit EXCEEDED our expectations. Several people that have been over are "grease shy" yet commented the food was not greasy (which I find is a problem when temp drop happens - so recovery time is an issue this thing handled well).
Would I recommend it ? For the PRICE and CAPACITY coupled with temp recovery - YES.』
(Presto Deep Fryer) 『Size wise it's a great fryer. The only regret I have is the temperature control tops out at 375 degrees. I have recipes that call for 400 degree oil. Wouldn't have purchased this model had I realized.』
(Presto Two-Basket Fryer) 『This is a very good product. I only gave it four stars because the temperature only goes up to 375....400 would have been optimum.』
(With a little Mod this Fryer will be EXCELLENT) 『I got this fryer from my dad.He bought it because it was dirt cheap and looked great. At first, even at the 375F setting this frier would not get any hotter than 360F, so I decided to sell it on Ebay, and get another one, since Im starting to do some experiments for a Burger Franchise @Burgerhaus.
I had a burger fest on a weekend so I decided to try frying about 10 KG of fries on a Sunday. The frier worked great, but sometimes the temperature was not enough when frying 1KG at once on the 2 baskets.
After looking on how the temperature sensors are secured, I decided to try modifying the fryer. It seems that the sensors are perfectly calibrated for the temperatures on the dial. However, this sensors are attached with a metal plate directly to the heating element, so what the fryer actually reads its an average from the Oil temp and the heating element temp.
Removing the supporting plate and 2 screws that hold the sensors, allows the fryer to correctly read the Oil's Temp.
After doing this, the Presto Profry will get up to 390F as peaking point, and work at an average of 370F on the 375 on the Dial. 365 Peak and 350F average on the 350F ,and so on. The fryer will work perfectly after that. (Look at the pictures with the Thermometer @Customer Images)
I rate the fryer a 4, since this is a little design flaw, and also because it does not have an oil filtering system like other fryers. Other than that, and after the mod, this is a SUPERB Fryer for only $69.99
I higly recommend using Palm Oil, High Smoke Point Peanut Oil, Soy Oil+Palm Olein. Do not use Canola, Olive, Sunflower or other Higly Monosaturated oils as this have low smoke points and will be health dangerous at any temp higher than 350F.』 『Fry two different types of food at once or extra-large batches with this professional-style dual-basket deep fryer. The unit's generous 12-cup food capacity allows for frying family-size quantities in a hurry, while its oblong-shaped baskets nicely accommodate large pieces of chicken or fish. An adjustable thermostat allows for selecting a variety of frying temperatures, and the signal light indicates when oil is ready for frying. Another highlight includes the unit's 1800-watt immersion element, which provides quick preheating and fast oil-temperature recovery. The appliance's cover acts as a spatter shield when lowering food into hot oil, and its heating element and enameled pot remove easily for quick cleanup. For great restaurant taste in a convenient at-home size, the deep fryer measures 16 by 15 by 11 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty』

I noticed people talking about the smells their containers picked up. I'm happy to say mine is smell free thanks to a trick a friend taught me. Place cabbage into it and let it sit over night (especially if you had something extra stinky). The cabbage absorbs the odor and the nasty smell is gone. (Don't eat the cabbage after though, it might taste a little funky.)
If you are up for a unique approach to healthier eating, than this is for you. Traditional bento style meals are best. so if you prefer huge American sized portions, you might want to reconsider.』
(Good for holding a lot of food) 『I commute 40 miles a day by bike, and with all that riding I'm supposed to consume 4,000+ calories just to break even. The Mr. Bento is the first container I've used that allows me to carry that much food without making a mess or taking up too much room in my pannier. Its insulation keeps hot food hot and cold food cold, but of course it can't do both at once, so it's best to carry everything cold and pop the should-be-hot food in the microwave upon arrival. The containers clean easily and do not absorb food smells or flavors. All around, it's a great product.』
(Soup bowl is small) 『I found this item very useful and worked exactly as described. My only complaint is the soup bowl is small. In fact, it is the smallest of the containers. You can not put an entire can of soup if you want to eat just soup for lunch. The "rice" container is the largest and if you are trying to watch your carbs the food pyramid is set up backwards. You cannot put soup or liquids in any of the other containers as it will leak. The soup bowl has a screw on top whereas the other containers have plastic lids that either twist on or snap on. I wish the product review would have stated the soup container is the smallest as that was my primary purpose in buying the product.』
(Great besides absorbing smells) 『I've had this bento for about six months and use it to bring lunch with me every day. It works great and definitely encourages eating a healthy lunch. The main problem I have with it is that the plastic tends to soak up smells and stain easily. For example, my soup container has a faint orange color and smells due to eating tomato soup in it a few times. Besides that it's great though and highly recommended.』
(Envious lunch-goers eye this!) 『This has turned out to be a convenient way to bring a pretty decent dinner to work without using lots of large containers that ultimately take up room in a gross staff refrigerator! I keep this on the shelf at work and for the most part the hot (or cold) components do stay the correct temperature. My main complaints are minor--if something is warm on the bottom, it will radiate heat to the top containers. Also, the largest of the 4 containers is not able to hold sauces or liquids because it is not designed to be "watertight" so to speak. Regardless, I use it everyday and people in the break room usually eye it.』 『Zojirushi's Mr. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar in Silver is unique and functional. The greese catch pan could be a little deeper. The grill has to be exactly level or the amount of water suggested will not cover the catch pan. When removing the catch pan to dump, extreme care must be taken not to spill it. Please don't think that this grill will not make any smoke or you will be disappointed because it does. Even though I have a few complaints I am still overall satisfied.』
(Good Idea but..) 『Unlike older styles with the heating element under the grill, this sanyo SG3 has a non stick grill that is the heating element. Less parts, less to cleanup, I thought great idea and bought one. On my first try I already notice the flaw; The food has to touch the grill to cook properly. Any food that curls will be a problem to cook properly. Anything thats thin and flat cooks fine. If this product pumped out more heat it would be perfect.』
(An indoor grill for cold weather) 『The grill is great when the weather is not. It heats evenly and the temperature can be easily adjusted. If you line the bottom pan with foil it is very easy to clean up.』
(Not hot enough) 『It is ok product for the price but I found out it was not the right grill for the cuisine that enjoy which is Turkish. It takes forever the grill shish kebabs, adana kebabs, koftes, chicken drums, eggplants, green peppers, onions etc. But if you like to grill hot dogs and thin sliced chicken breasts, you are lucky. You can do it on this as long as they are not thick. The problem I see is that it is just not hot enough. Maybe none of the electric grills is hot enough. That is why I gave up on electric grills and planning on going with gas grill when I have the enough money to purchase one.』
(Works well enough...) 『I considered giving this only 4 stars, but had to consider that it's not an outdoor grill with a cover, and it's not going to perform exactly like one. The only "issues" are that it takes about 15-20 minutes to heat up to full heat, and it takes a bit longer to cook most things. Again the main reason is because it is an indoor grill with no cover to contain the heat. However, all things considered, the grill is PLENTY large enough, I haven't used the entire grill and I've cooked for 6 people on this thing in one go. The grill IS smokeless, the only slight smoke that appears is right when marinated meat hits it, for about 5 seconds, then no more smoke. Cleanup is is a breeze...if only I had a bigger sink though... The drip pan can be a little tricky taking it to the sink when filled with water and grease, but I grill right near my sink now so no worries anymore. All in all, if looking for a convenient way to grill inside if the weather is bad or you live in an apartment with covered patios and fire codes/regulations, this grill is a great alternative!』 『Grilling is healthy, grilling is delicious, and now grilling is something you can enjoy all year round. This appliance is designed to be virtually smoke free, easy to clean, easy to operate and it allows fat to drain away from your food while applying those tasty grill marks.』

For what it is worth- a noteworthy Glass album, Passages does have plenty of impressive moments amidst familiar tricks and thematic exploitations. Of course the Eastern influence tempers some of the material into something wholly unique, but Shankar is wrongly billed alongside the composer when he only factors heavily on a few tracks.』
(the best phillip glass) 『in my opinion, this cd shows the best music of phillip glass, the one he did at the beginig, before the big companies request him to do more comercial music. the minimalism in the best form. without comercial interest. and with the man who most influenced him. a beautifull mix between orient and occident』

(Absolutely loved this Cd) 『The sitar really gets to you! Won't go into any mumbo-jumbo about why this collaboration works. It just does.A truly enjoyable purchase! 』
(More Glass than Shankar) 『This is a very good CD, and I think how much you like it may depend upon if you like Glass music more than Shankar music, or if you are not a sitar fan or not a minimalism fan (but why get the CD if that is the case.) That is, the composing credits show 1/2 the pieces are written by Glass and 1/2 by Shankar, but there seems to be a more western than eastern sensibility to each piece, to such a degree that without looking at the credits, I would think each piece was written by Glass, with some sitar accompaniment thrown in on the side. I really like this CD because I really do like Phillip Glass, and I am only holding back one star because I had expectations that there would be an absolutely magical melding of two partners in some type of exact half and half musical arrangement.』

(deeply resonant) 『This recording of Tibetan monks chanting in almost impossibly deep levels of resonance is hypnotic without being soporific. Added benefit: the prayers that the monks express are renewed each time you play the recording.』
(Sounds like a refrigerator, but good.) 『I will rarely if ever say my critique of an item on amazon is almost purely a matter of taste. In this case, I would say it is. I agree with every review that's been written about this album - good and bad.
Some people will really hate this album. I think it's great. I find it very relaxing. I honestly don't know if I'd call it music though.
Listen to the samples - that's pretty much how the whole album sounds, with nearly undetectable variations.
It kind of sounds like the drone of the refrigerator attached to a vocoder. Unlike Tuvan throat singing, etc, it's honestly debatable if it's music. There's virtually nothing resembling rhythm and there really isn't any structure beyond maybe a measure repeated a couple of hundred times at points. There are harmonies, but no real melodic structure.
The closest thing I can think of to this is the drone of ambient trance and the occasional Vangelis piece.
On the downside, if I put this up loud enough, this makes my fillings shake. I'm not kidding. Tons of bass.』
(gotta have it) 『The recording is of very high quality. I listen to it over and over again.』 『Nothing can prepare the uninitiated for the shocking sound of Tibetan throat singing, and these two liturgical pieces, each clocking in at near 25 minutes, are among the best, and most chilling, examples. The Gyuto Monks, in exile in India since the annexation of their native Tibet, have developed a tradition of singing that involves producing the lowest possible notes in the vocal range while simultaneously singing high overtones. The resulting sound suggests a symphony of inspired bullfrogs whose passion is Buddha, not Budweiser, croaking endlessly while rotating a wet foot around the perimeter of a giant wineglass. Which is a pretty mundane metaphor for music that produces such a powerful sense of dread and spiritual awe. Track 2 also includes clattering drums, some made of human crania. I liked what I heard of them but I didn't hear a lot from them. I thought I'd buy their Greatest Hits to get the ones I remembered and basically sample some of the ones I've never heard of. In the end, the ones I remembered were the best on the CD. The others are a little forgettable in my opinion. Again, I was never a dedicated fan.』
(Indeed - the very Best of Asia!) 『All I can say is that I'm glad that I found this particular collection of the best of Asia! So many of their songs that I hadn't heard in a while still sound as good as they did 25 years ago! The musicianship is truly remarkable, and the producers did a great job in selecting the songs to include in this compilation. Truly one of the super groups of the 80's. By the way - they have been touring recently with the original lineup - Howe, Wetton, Palmer, and Downes. If you have a chance to catch them live, by all means - DO! They may be getting older (like the rest of us), but still know how to ROCK!』
(ASIA SOLE SURVIVOR!) 『This is a excellent compilation of ASIA. One of the last groups that play progressive/pop/hard rock so well! The cd features 3 songs never included on a ASIA original albums. Enjoy!』
(i like this song it makes me think of my boy friend!) 『i like this song, the last time i heard this it was during the 80's i am so glad that i found it again on yahoo. it makes me think of my boy friend. it has a great dance beat. if you liked this song you will like heat of the moment by asia. this is one great song to get!』
(Nice selection of songs, but buyer beware...) 『This is a good compilation and the sound quality is nice. BUT, I noticed the remastering chopped off a few bars in "Sole Survivor" (very noticeable after the bridge) and "Time Again". I know those songs well and it jolted me a bit. There may be other cuts that I just haven't noticed yet.
If you are a purist, skip this and get the debut album separately. If you're looking only to replace your vinyl, this is fine.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Must See Italian Horror Film) 『If you even have the slightest interest in horror (especially Italian Horror) Then you HAVE to see this film. I honestly feel that this rivals Suspiria for best Italian horror film. It has a BRILLIANTLY written story, filled with captivating moments, great suspense, and oh baby does this film not skimp out on the gore, something only the Italians have the balls to do. Oh and blasphemy against Catholicism, man this film makes The Exorcist look like Mary Poppins, how can you resist? So don't waste your time and money on the Saw films or stupid remakes of Halloween or Friday the 13th , or any other new crap, pick up a masterpiece of horror cinema, pick up Michele Soavi's The Church』
(Decent Italian Horror Flick) 『In present day Rome, an ambitious cathedral librarian unearths a demonic plague trapped in the ground by knights in medieval times. When the possession begins to spread, an ancient lockdown goes into effect trapping the caretakers, employees, a tour of school children, and others within the church walls. It's left to one noble priest, with the help of a rebellious young girl, to prevent the plague from escaping into the world outside.
Produced by Italian horror legend Dario Argento and directed by Michele Soavi of "Cemetery Man" fame (Dellamorte Dellamore), "The Church" (La chiesa) was originally planned to be the third installment of the Demons franchise. However, director Soavi wanted to make something better, and the result is a more mature film, though surely not as much fun as the original "Demons". The story is an interesting one, as is the film throughout, though I would have personally preferred more insight into the lead characters and a clearer explanation of some of the medieval events that set up the situation. Of course, this is an Italian horror film we're talking about here. Personally, I have always found them somewhat lacking, though they have their good points too (I rather enjoyed Demons when I finally saw it and look forward to getting it, and Cemetery Man is well-known to be a fantastic little film). With dubbing, it can be hard to judge performances, and some of the dubbing is goofy, as always, but the stars do well, especially Hugh Quarshie as Father Gus and Argento's daughter Asia, who is very cute here as little Lotte (took me a while to recognize her). If you are a fan of Italian horror, Dario and/or Asia Argento, and so on, this is a must own. It's pretty good for that sub-genre. However, if you know you don't like Italian horror, I wouldn't recommend it to you. If you're in the middle, rent it at least. The DVD has good widescreen picture and sound and includes the theatrical trailer and a thorough text bio of Michele Soavi.

(Soavi in 1989>Argento in 1989.) 『La Chiesa (Michele Soavi, 1989)
Michele Soavi's Dellamorte Dell'Amore remains one of the best horror-comedies of all time, so when I got a chance to see one of his earlier films, La Chiesa, I jumped at it. Now, Soavi got his start as an assistant director for Dario Argento, and Argento wrote the script, so it should come as little shock that La Chiesa comes off kind of like second-rate Argento. (Argento's daughter Asia even has a minorpart in the film, as she did increasingly often in Argento films during the eighties.) Plotwise, anyway. While Soavi's direction does wear his Argento influence writ large on its sleeve, he learned all the right things from the master of Italian horror, and there's enough actual Soavi in there to ensure that you at least sense this isn't completely an Argento joint (as was, say, "Lamberto Bava"'s Demons).
We open with an extended scene that takes place during what seems to be the Inquisition or the Crusades, in which an entire village is slaughtered for witchcraft and a mad monk tells the murderers to build a church on the land; the consecrated ground will stop the dead from coming back. Fast-forward to the twentieth century. A new librarian starts working at the church while some restoration is going on. The combination of these two things kicks into motion a series of events that ensures, of course, that the dead will, in fact, come back for some sinister purpose. When the dead trip off one of the safety mechanisms, the church is sealed off from the outside, trapping a number of innocents with the vengeful spirits. If you've seen Demons, you know what's going to happen from that point. (The script was originally conceived as a third entry in the Demons series, but Soavi rewrote it to the point where La Chiesa has very little in common with the other films in the franchise. Two other attempts were made to produce a third Demons film, Black Demons and The Ogre; both, interestingly, met the same fate as La Chiesa. Someone must have realized that if Demons 2 was that bad, the series was unsaveable. And thank heaven for that.)
The acting is mediocre, the script not much better; neither is remotely up to the standard Soavi would set for himself with Dellamorte Dell'Amore five years later. What is here and intact, however, is Soavi's incredible visual sense, which is even more pronounced here than it is in his later work. I do note that this may well be because you don't have such niceties as plot, character development, etc., to distract you from Soavi's constant barrage of gorgeously-constructed shots. It's a gorgeous movie, and those who simply appreciate the fine visuals will find this a treat; most filmgoers, however, will likely not be satisfied with a pastiche held together so thinly. For them, I recommend Dellamorte Dell'Amore instead. ***
』
(Quite good and bizarre Italian horror flick!) 『In the medieval ages, christian knights massacred a possessed village and buried all the folks who worshipped Satan to a large burial ground. They build a church over it so that the taint of evil wouldn't come back again, now in the present day a librarian wants to uncover the secrets of the cathedral as he accidently opens the secret sealed tomb as it unleashes demonic forces onto the church and trapping a group of people inside. But can the priests and some of the trapped people put a stop to this unholy curse or will the world be damned forever?
A feverish and bizarre supernatural horror fantasy shocker from Michele Soavi (Director of the brilliant "Cemetery Man" and "StageFright") and from co-writer and producer Dario Argento delivers a grueling and stylish journey to hell. There is some nudity and graphic violence shown with some good make-up and demon effects, the film itself is a sequel of sorts to both "Demons 1 and 2". Legendary Italian actor Giovanni Lombardo Radice does a nice performance as the Reverend, Asia Argento as the young girl Lotte and the movie has a good score by Goblin, fans of "Demons 1&2" should seek out this gem.
This DVD contains good picture and sound with a couple of extras like trailer and bio to director Michele Soavi.

(Decent movie mostly saved by the visual side) 『The Church is the 2nd feature film from director Michele Soavi who was dubbed as the savior to Italian horror. Soavi came around when Italian horror was on its last legs. With the exception of Dario Argento a lot of the other popular filmmakers were on the decline, were having trouble getting work or became knockoff directors. Michele Soavi was hailed as the savior and to be honest I never quite got why.
Originally The Church was meant to be the 3rd part of the Demons series, but it ended up going in a different direction and what we get is a very mixed bag. The Church wasn't a bad movie, but the problem is nothing really happens.
The screenplay was written by Dario Argento, Franco Ferrini&Michele Soavi. Dardano Sacchetti, Lamberto Bava and Fabrizio Bava also contributed to the screenplay, but were un-credited. So due to that I'll just mention the credited writers.
The screenplay actually wasn't too bad; there were some interesting concepts, while there might be a silly moment or two for the most part the script wasn't bad. The basic concept here is the same as Demons, but there was a little more depth to the screenplay. Demons and Demons 2 were fun splatter flicks, but The Church was more serious. The biggest problem here is the lack of action. The screenplay really wasn't too bad and made even better by what was coming out of Italy at this time.
But there are some problems; the two lead characters pretty much go MIA in the 2nd half, other characters might appear early on than don't come back until the end. The 2nd half introduces some new characters and they don't add anything to the plot. They are just there to die and we don't even see most of the deaths.
The Church does benefit from a solid cast, Giovanni Lombardo Radice has a small role and it's always great seeing him in a horror movie and a young Asia Argento also stars. The Church was Asia's 3rd movie.
Michele Soavi worked under Dario Argento as an assistant director and it is quite clear he learned a lot. Dario Argento is a very visual filmmaker and if I didn't know any better I would think he was the director. Soavi creates a movie that is visually stunning. The Church is one of the very best shot movies I have ever seen. Dare I say it's on par with an Argento movie?
The problem though is really nothing happens. The first few minutes are set in the medieval times and we get a little bit of action, but surprisingly little gore. After that we cut to the present and from that point on it's mostly talk and more talk. Michele Soavi is able to build some suspense and tension, but the problem is there is no pay off; though to Soavi's credit he's very much able to have a nice gothic looking horror movie.
Like I said The Church is slow, but what saves the movie from being an all out bore is the visuals. The first half in particular is just so amazingly shot. The Church easily rates as one of the best shot horror movies I have ever seen. In the case of Italian filmmakers not all, but most have this great visual side to their movies and Michele Soavi might be one of the best. The student can't top his teacher though, but you can clearly see the Argento influence. There is some great stedi-cam work as well.
Once we hit the 45-minute mark things begin to pick up with an excellent scene, which a character is chased around her house and I thought right there would be the turning point, but instead after that nothing really happens again. Once the hour mark comes in we have a group of characters trapped in the church and it seems like the action is about to start, but guess again.
This is the biggest downfall to The Church the lack of action like I said we get some good moments of suspense and tension, but there is very little pay off. Despite the lack of anything happening Michele Soavi is able to create some tension and suspense thanks to his visual touch and that is what kept me interested in the movie despite the lack of action. The final act to The Church is kind of messy and more often than not the movie just sort of repeats itself by this point and the ending is very anti-climatic. If you are expecting a big showdown between the characters and demons you can forget that.
I can't really explain why I enjoyed The Church; there is very little action, but the gore level is decent. While it might take sometime to get to the gore and when we finally get it, well it seems like a long time till we get it again, but it is done well. But not a whole lot happens. It's a lot of talk and build up with little pay off, but yet there is just something about The Church I liked. I guess it's the visual side that held my interest, but the 2nd half none of this works as well.
In closing, The Church is a movie with a lot of potential, but just doesn't seem to go anywhere. Even though I did enjoy the movie it's not a must see and it's really the visual side that keeps things interesting, but that can only save it for so long.
The Church sometimes goes under the title of Demons 3 along with two other movies, 1 being Lamberto Bava's The Orge and Umberto Lenzi's Black Demons. None though are sequels to Demons, but The Church is the closest one in that style. 』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Doesn't live up to its promise.) 『A ridiculously ambitious project, director Moretti here attempts a commentary on life in the New Left by way of a water polo film. Adding to the challenge, the film is also an amnesia comedy. I can't knock him for the effort, but "Pamobella Rossa" doesn't pull it all together near as well as I'd hoped it would.
Moretti certainly succeeds in mixing pride, anger, and melancholy in his portrait of a personal involvement with Italian Communism. Making it a personal portrait is a smart decision; it prevents the film from becoming overly didactic or just plain boring. Mixing it with water polo is also a smart move I think. But the amnesia angle is just too much. Plausability is thrown totally out the window and the plot quickly begins to irritate. This is not to say that the films is without value. Quite the contrary, there are a number of moments of fine, fine film-making. But on the whole, I can't commend the film beyond the three-, maybe three-and-a-half-, star mark.』
(A real 5 stars movie) 『If you enjoyed Caro Diario, don't expect this movie to be similar: Palombella Rossa is a tough movie, but it is one of the great masterpieces of italian cinema. At the end of the '80's the Italian communists face a big crisis. Nanni Moretti succeeds in giving a clear idea of the entity of such crisis, in a movie which mixes fun and profound reflections. The idea of mixing politics and waterpolo is fantastic. For the non-italians: Nanni Moretti is the best actor/director we have, and he really faced a crisis as a communist, and, yes, he really player waterpolo.』
(Not as funny as Caro Diario, but just as meaningful.) 『Nanni Moretti's Palombella Rossa (Red Wood Pigeon) is much more complicated than Caro Diario, and not as comical, but it is just as humane and thoughtful. Moretti's view of humanity is endlessly sympathetic and wistful. By the way, you'll often see him compared to Woody Allen, although I don't see why, except that he, the movie director, is usually the main character in his movies. There the similarities end. Moretti is neither sex-obsessed nor a social misfit. He is a careful observer of human foibles who realizes that he is"one of us".』 『Sharp, insightful social commentary couched in an absurdist comedy that knows no bounds.』 タイトル『 Queen Margot [VHS] >

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Outstanding in every way. . .) 『This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Great cinematography, excellent actors, a lot of realism, and historically based. It's not an American movie, so don't expect a pretty end. That is what I like about many foreign movies though, they are a lot less boringly predictable than American movies.』
(Not anamorphic widescreen) 『This is not an anamorphic widescreen dvd - shame on Miramax. So buyer beware!』
(history made easy) 『This movie is very well done (subtitled). There are many treacherous characters, especially the Mother. It will make you appreciate your cookie baking mother and never want to receive any reading material as a gift.』
(The queen who potrayed different images of a woman!) 『"La Reine Margot", a pure example of fine Europeon film-making, the film takes you back to the time of 15th century France, wonderfull performences from Adjani and Auteiuil, both had an excellent chemistry. Jean-Hugues Anglade, words alone will fail to describe his performence in the role of the King, he was fabulous. Pascal Greggory was excellent, even through his role was brief. Vincent Perez deliverd a good performence as well. the most prominent word about this very film could be 'Realistic and Genuine', thrown lights on the events that took place in 1572, France (the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre). Almost everyone delivers a brilliant performemce, If you are into French History or just good drama, you cannot afford to miss this wonderfull film. a film with perfection in all sences, surely wont dissapoint you. A fine example of Fine french cinema. Worth appreciating indeed.』
(Very good story.) 『Great story. Historical and very entertaining. Acting was excellent by Adjani and Auteuil. Virna Lisi(one of my favorite actor from the 60's) was very good in her part as Margot's mother. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who likes history, and romance.』 『Based on a novel by Alexandre Dumas,Queen Margotconcerns the events behind infamous Massacre of St. Bartholomew in 16th-century France. Isabelle Adjani plays Margot, betrothed for political reasons to one man (Daniel Auteuil) by her mother (Virna Lisi), while she is, in fact, in love with another (Vincent Pérez). Despite the bond that grows between the reluctant couple, plots are hatching all over the castle against the royals. Adventurous, exciting, erotic, and given strong artistic credibility through its outstanding cast, the film is enthralling and visually sumptuous. Directed by Patrice Chereau, less known outside of France than is the film's producer, Claude Berri (director ofJean de FloretteandManon of the Spring).--Tom Keogh』 『A classic tale of intrigue and forbidden love, QUEEN MARGOT is the powerful hit universally acclaimed by critics! Thrown into a political marriage of convenience by her ruthlessly power-hungry family, the beautiful Margot (Isabelle Adjani -- CAMILLE CLAUDEL) soon finds herself hopelessly drawn into their murderous affairs. It's then she realizes that her only hope of escape lies somewhere between the heroic soldier who loves her and the enemy husband who could save her! Triumphant winner of 5 Cesar Awards the pretigious Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize -- you're sure to be entertained by this vivid portrayal of passion, revenge, and extraordinary courage!』

(Really good music) 『What a good music. The surf is good and the music makes the movie really interesting even if it is too short.』
(Basic surfing discography) 『I recently bought 10 surfing videos to get through my 8 months in Iowa before I can go back to Mazatlan. I think I did well on some of them in no small part to Surfer Magazine's list and Amazon reviews. My favorites are September Sessions and Thicker Than Water; a tossup, really. Buy them both and save the shipping. I've about decided that any film involving Jack Johnson and/or the Malloys is a no-brainer; get it. What you have is some of the best surfers in the world on a Menatwais boat trip, free from the pressures of contests, getting some of the best waves in the world and YOU, are invited along. These are guys who seem to get along well having a whole lot of fun. Brad Gerlach is a stitch - just non-stop funny and yeah, he surf for good brah. You can see a younger version of Kelly Slater and Shane Dorian with hair, Slater spitting some water out at the camera looking like a young Marlon Brandon and, of course, surfing insanely well; Dorian snapping his backside hacks with a robot-like precision; Rob Machado just so fluid and stylish, seemingly able to turn on the afterburner whenever he wants some more speed. But, hey, I'm not trying to critique the surfers it's just that you can't help but get into it. A massive plus for me is the extremely well-chosen music. I've become a fan of Jack Johnson's music as well as his cinematography. He's difficult to categorize but I think of what Michael Franks might have done if he'd been surfing in Hawai'i instead of chilling out in Rio back in the day. Another thing I like is the bonus commentary from Kelly, Jack, Brad, and Rob. I could watch this for days. As an added feel-good, the filmmakers are donating all proceeds from the sale of the film to SurfAid, a truly worthwhile organization helping the residents of Sumatra and the Mentawais with medical aid.』
(Great Movie Package) 『The combination of Jack Johnson and his friends music, together with some excellent surfing and locations, make an great addition to any surfers'Jack Johnson - September SessionsThicker Than Water library』
(September Sessions) 『Another good jack johnson surf video but this time with pro surfers kelly and rob at least. Smaller waves than Thicker Than Water, but more remote locations. It has more of a vacation feel to it. Same good music. I would recommend his first video over this one, unless you are into the filming 16 Mil thing.』

The upconvertion DVD image is not as good as the Hi-Def blu-ray one, but the blu-ray image is not as crystal clear as i've already seen in other blu-rays. If you like this movie (just like i do) this blu-ray is a must have. I forgot to mention that the sound really rocks !!!』
(Good transfer to blu ray) 『I like this movie.funny, sexy xplosive.etcc... This is a good transfer to Blue ray disc. I have the regular dvd and when you compare both, blue ray rocks!!!! 』
(Diesel Is Decent) 『Vin Diesel is a pretty good guy to play these new action-heroes. He's a big, muscular macho guy who men can look upon with some respect and the ladies can fall for. Unfortunately, a number of these testosterone-filled action films, including this one, are somewhat moronic in nature. However, they are undeniably entertaining.
You can always depend on one thing in these type of movies, from the "biker movies" of the '50s to today's films: the hero will always be a rebel against authority and any laws of the land. Also, an even more-recent theme is to have the government actually employ the rebel to get the job done because their men are unable to accomplish what this ultra-tattooed macho man can do! It's so much garbage, but it has its moments and Diesel still is a likable hero of sorts.
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger before him, and Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and then "The Rock" and now Jason Stratham, these kind of muscle-men have fairly clean mouths and at least some ideals.
For pure action, the movie succeeds because, in the end, it does entertain which is the name of the game. 』
(Sensory and Escapist's Action-packed visual paradise) 『The cast is sexy, the music hot- the setting (Prague) is exotic and beautiful- not for those seeking deep and interpretive value, xXx is a terrific way to get away from it all and live vicariously through shallow, uncomplicated characters while enjoying lots of action, well-shot cinematography, and Vin Diesel just being his sexy-self.』
(TATTOOS AND ATTITUDE) 『XXX is a unique style of action film that blends pop culture and New-Age rock to create a rather enjoyable action/spy film for the audience of the 21st century. Actor "Vin Diesel" stars as "Xander Cage", the stereotypical outcast and "menace to society" of what was then the present day. He lives by his own rules, loves extreme sports and detests the law.He is soon captured by the authorities and given his choice of fates,he may either rot in prison or infiltrate a Russian gang known as "Anarchy 99" to discover and hopefully stop their sinister plan. XXX does showcase some very well crafted stunts and action sequences along with some great laughs and enjoyable character moments along the way. However, many people label this film as being "stupid" in regards to action and acting, and while XXX does occasionally throw out the sarcastic one-liner and unrealistic stunt that action films are known for,one must quickly remember how XXX came to be. First, XXX was directed by "Rob Cohen", who also directed "The Fast and the Furious". Secondly, in efforts to make an action film for the new generation, what better man to cast than the star of Mr. Cohens recent hit film, actor "Vin Diesel". So if you're looking for an enjoyable and unique action alternative then XXX is the right movie for you. Simply put, it's 007 with tattoos and an attitude.』 『Columbia Pictures XXX (Blu-Ray) DVDXander Cage (Vin Diesel) is anotorious underground thrill-seeker who, until now, has been deemed untouchable by the law. But when crack NSA Agent Gibbsons convinces Cage to infiltrate a ruthless Russian crime ring, this new breed of secret agent (code name: XXX) takes down the enemies of justice with a vengeance in this high-octane, turbo-charged thrill-ride from the acclaimed director of "The Fast And The Furious".』 『Vin Diesel is no James Bond, and he doesn't want to be. That's whyXXXannounced Diesel as the adrenalin-junkie Bond of the PlayStation generation, copying the Bond formula so shamelessly that this action-packed silliness would be a Bond movie if it starred Pierce Brosnan. Reuniting Diesel with hisFast and the Furiousdirector Rob Cohen,XXXhas an attitude (if not a brain) all its own, plucking Diesel's Xander Cage from his celebrity as an extreme sports renegade, recruited by a National Security Agency big shot (Samuel L. Jackson) to foil a nasty Czech villain (Marton Csokas) who's eager to depopulate Prague with remote-controlled biological weaponry. Toss in a sulky, sultry Russian agent (Asia Argento) and you've got extreme Bond-age for anyone who thinks tuxedos are passé. With a handful of eye-popping action sequences,XXXlaunched a movie franchise with a cool guy, another cool muscle car, and plenty of box-office sizzle.--Jeff Shannon』

Here's a format of the ten films. 1.1970 - "Rough Justice" a.k.a. The Beast - Klaus Kinski is the deranged gunmen. 2.1971 - "Blindman" Ringo Starr,Tony Anthony steals the show as the blindman. 3.1966 -"Massacre time" - Django star Franco Nero finds out things are not what they seem. 4.1966 - "Bounty Killer" - Tomas Milian in one of his better roles. 5.1971 - "They Call Him Cemetary" a.k.a. or Graveyard - starring genre greats John Garko,William Berger. 6.1970 - "Price Of Power" Day Of Anger star Guiliano Gemma takes on a political ride. 7. 1968 - "One Dollar Too Many" western comedy with John Saxon,Frank Wolff. 8.1971 - "Apocalypse Joe" - Anthony Steffen is in disquise armed with deadly guns. 9.1965 - "Minnesota Clay" Cameron Mitchell is an aging gunfighter losing his sight, directed by the great Sergio Corbucci. 10.1966 - "Seven Dollars On The Red" Anthony Steffen seeks revenge and his lost son. The audio varies from film to film and the video transfers are not bad,a "slight" improvement over the Sartana saga,at least none of the above films cut out in the middle, you can't go wrong for the price. "The Beast" is presented in full screen, the rest of these seldom "scene" spaghetti's are letterboxed widescreen. The two Anthony Steffen films are worth the price of admission alone, plenty of gunplay, excellent music scores,Italian western action at it's finest.』
(10 Spaghetti Western obscurities in decent quality for the price) 『I figured a list of what's actually included in this set might be useful for anyone thinking of buying it, and if you've tried Video Asia's stuff before you might have some concerns about quality, so hopefully I can help. I haven't actually watched any of the films yet, but I did a quality check and took down the runtimes, so here ya go:
One Dollar Too Many (1 hr., 31 min.) letterboxed, looks like a sharp VHS dub.
The Beast (1 hr. 23 min.) fullscreen, slightly faded print, looks like a fairly good 2nd generation VHS dub. The onscreen title is "Rough Justice."
Blindman (1 hr. 24 min) letterbox, very sharp VHS quality. IMDB lists a longer running time for this, so it may be cut.
Massacre Time (1 hr. 29 min. 30 secs.) letterbox, sharp VHS quality.
Bounty Killer (1 hr. 30 min.) letterbox, looks like a sharp VHS.
Minnesota Clay (1 hr. 27 min. 30 sec.) letterbox, very sharp
7 Dollars on the Red (1 hr. 35 min.) letterbox, sharp VHS.
Apocalypse Joe (1 hr. 30 min. 30 sec.) latterbox, sharp VHS quality. Onscreen title is the "Man Called Joe Clifford" retitle.
They Call Him Graveyard (1 hr. 28 min.) letterbox, sharp VHS quality.
Price of Honor (1 hr. 47 min.) letterbox, sharp VHS quality, print looks a bit dark.
Overall, this looks to be a great set for the price. Most of these titles are pretty obscure, and the quality is far better than average for Video Asia. Most Spaghetti Western fans will be happy with this one.』 『Studio: First Look Home Entertain Release Date: 10/20/2009 Run time: 900 minutes』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The only ramen I'll eat) 『The Malaysian postdoc in my lab introduced me to these. I've never been a huge fan of ramen, but I love spicy food and I needed some cheap meals, so I tried them. She suggested that I start with half the spice packet which wasn't nearly hot enough for me (she was impressed by this, actually), so I added the whole packet. I would suggest half the packet to anyone who hasn't tried them before, though...I have a very high heat tolerance. I think they actually taste pretty beefy, too, though I'm a little frightened by what is lending it the beefy flavor. At any rate, I'm sending the box of 20 to my brother-in-law who is on deployment. He's in the Navy, loves ramen and spicy food, and finds the meal choices on the ship a *bit* limited. He has the ability to make ramen or cup-o-noodles on the ship, and since they're not perishable, they're perfect to send to someone who's going to be trapped on a ship for 6 or 7 months.』
(Deliciously Spicy!) 『My brother introduced me to these wonderful noodles after his stint in Korea. I jazz them up with an egg when the noodles are almost done...then I add a handful of shredded cheddar cheese. MMMMmmm! The cheese and egg give the broth a wonderful flavor. The noodles seemed very hot to me on the first try, but my tastebuds grew accustomed and then they started to be rather mild. These are definitely a must have in my pantry.』
(Simply the best dried Ramyun you can buy) 『If you like spicy ramyun give this a try, be warned people might think you're cooking up tear gas because it is very... fragrant while cooking. I advise just bringing the noodles to a boil and starting to seperate and then putting them in your bowl and allowing to cool for perfectly cooked consistency. I also advice adding some baby bok choy, dried mushrooms, egg, beef etc... you can make a damn good meal out of these.
They aren't perfect but they're as good as you can get at home.』
(the best noodles ever) 『these noodles cook up soft but not soggy. there are two packets of of seasoning on the inside. one is just garden veggies dried and the the other is powdered seasonings. the latter is spicy so add with caution. great eat and filling. enjoy anytime of day or year!』
(Hot or mild) 『When only the ingredients in the bag are used, this noodle can be very spicy. However, when veggies are added, such as, onions, green onions, egg, and even beef/other meats, it can get mild. There are a lot of Korean noodles, but Shin Ramyun is one of my favorites! If you don't enjoy spicy food (or msg - some mentioned it), then don't bother. A box(20pcs) of Shin Ramyun at some Korean markets costs around $14.99 here in Southern California.』 『Nongshim shin ramyun hot&spicy noodle soup is the most popular Hot and spicy Korean Noodle. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (essential reading on Afghanistan) 『if you want to understand how typical Afghans view themselves and others, read this book and pass it on』
(Great Afghan Starter Read) 『"The Places in Between" is a fantastic read for the Afghanistan noob. Before I read Mr. Stewart's book, I knew little about the history of Afghanistan; his book did not make me an expert, nor does that seem to be the author's intent, but most importantly, it helped to create mental context for future research. It is a thought-provoking account of his personal daily interactions with the various people groups of Afghanistan as he walked (closer to hiking in that terrain) from Herat to Kabul. The personal touch, of course, made the read feel familiar because you felt "present" at each stage of the hike and it lended to a sense of reality, often absent in historical reads.
I have a more clear understanding of the cultural complexity of Afghanistan and the difficulty of establishing political "reach" and influence in a relatively technologically-absent, heteregenous society. Overall, the book was difficult to put down and contained much substance, with little fluff. One critique: I found it difficult to understand British-English dialect. It sporadically translated into his writing, which, for me, created a choppy feeling to the narrative.』
(Rory Stewart's A Nutter, In A Good Way) 『My wife kept insisting I should read this book. "No", I say to the wife, "I've already read "Three Cups of Tea" and I don't want to hear any more about some westerner who is trying to help the people of Afghanistan, while those vile Afghani warlords interfere with his do-gooder quest and try to block all the help". "Ah-ha" she replies, "this book is very different. In fact, the author doesn't try to help change the country at all". Hmm, I think, now that might be worth reading about.
And sure enough, the book is fascinating in a kind of perverse way - I kept thinking the author must have actually died somewhere along the way - murdered by some crazed opium warlord, and his body left in a drift of snow on some mountain pass. Perhaps his diary was found by somebody who could read English, and it became a posthumous book for Mr. Stewart. Maybe this happens, maybe this doesn't happen - I'm not giving away any of the book's secrets.
I became convinced that the author is actually a mentally disturbed man who would be just as happy banging his head against a brick wall repeatedly as to do anything the conventional way. Still, even if the man is a nutter, he sure is adventurous, eloquent, and a good writer. His story was so compelling, I felt like I was walking beside him on his journey. It sure was cold, and I got tired of eating dry bread. If you read this book, you will most likely be drawn into his fascinating journey as I was.』
(A Wonderful Ride) 『When this book came out it climbed bestseller lists, won awards, and impressed literary reviewers everywhere. I, however, only discovered it recently. When the author was to appear on public television's Bill Moyers Journal one Friday night in 2009, knowing nothing about Afghanistan except what is in the News I decided to read the book ahead of time and develop a better frame of reference. It was apparently a diary written on a journey so I followed along, page by page and day by day across the country. But for all of the intimate details faithfully documented on the road over many weeks there is very little drama, so by book's end I was quite surprised to find that I felt almost as overwhelmed as the author. It seems this wonderful little book had really taken me right across Afghanistan with Mr. Stewart. Now I feel that I do know the country better-the landscape, weather, godawful terrain, and (most importantly) the people. Read this book. Not just because it is entertaining and well-written but because it will help you to truly understand a country that has been terrribly misrepresented by many others.』
(Wonderful Eye-opener) 『This is must-read for anyone wanting to learn more about the challenges of working/traveling in Afghanistan. Just WITHIN Afghanistan the differences in culture, religion, geography, economics, politics, etc, are brought to the fore in this wonderful book. This book is also one of the most heart-felt books of non-fiction I've ever read. Peter Hopkirk's The Great Game along with Stewart's The Places In Between should be mandatory reading for any Westerner planning to live and work in Afghanistan (and expect to have any success at either).』 『
In January 2002 Rory Stewart walked across Afghanistan-surviving by his wits, his knowledge of Persian dialects and Muslim customs, and the kindness of strangers. By day he passed through mountains covered in nine feet of snow, hamlets burned and emptied by the Taliban, and communities thriving amid the remains of medieval civilizations. By night he slept on villagers' floors, shared their meals, and listened to their stories of the recent and ancient past. Along the way Stewart met heroes and rogues, tribal elders and teenage soldiers, Taliban commanders and foreign-aid workers. He was also adopted by an unexpected companion-a retired fighting mastiff he named Babur in honor of Afghanistan's first Mughal emperor, in whose footsteps the pair was following.
Through these encounters-by turns touching, con-founding, surprising, and funny-Stewart makes tangible the forces of tradition, ideology, and allegiance that shape life in the map's countless places in between.

It also gave great insight into how humans get politically charged up and act upon their beliefs regardless of truth or justification. I gave it 4 stars only because it was sooooo long. Great book. We read it for book club.』
(The veneer of civilization is very thin) 『 Nien Cheng is an eyewitness to (and victim of) the Cultural Revolution in China, the purpose of which was to eliminate the "four olds" - old culture, old customs, old habits, and old ways of thinking.
The Cultural Revolution was part of the cult of the new and modern, leading inevitably to uncontrolled savagery. It established a totally arbitrary system of law, in which there was no truth independent of party policy. Officially, 10,000 Shanghai citizens died, "unnaturally" as they say, under the Cultural Revolution. Many times that number were imprisoned for incorrect thinking, or because denouncing others could lead to one's own early release from prison. That's in one city alone.
Remember the song "Dirty Old Town" by David Byrne? I just kept thinking about that song reading this book. "Keep your head down and keep your nose clean/People who are scared do dangerous things"
Nien Cheng, herself, is witty and creative, and mentally spry despite her sufferings. She writes an amazing account of what happens when "wishful thinking" becomes a political requirement and a policy of "personal utility" makes the helpless or inconvenient people... expendable.
』
(Life and Death in Shanghai) 『One of my very favorite books, which I just re-read. It's a true story, and one that had me living her life with her. It's a real history of Chinese life before, during, and after the Cultural Revolution. She is one of the unsung heroins of the period, who never asks for sympathy...she simply states the facts as they happened.
』
(Nien Cheng, the person) 『I cannot add much to the several excellent reviews of this book, so I will review the author. I contacted her after I read the book, and she invited me to meet her in DC, where she lives. We became friends, and she enjoyed my updates about what China is becoming. After writing her book, she was persona non grata in China; she could never go back. I, however, have been there dozens of times, and the democratic reforms she desires are actually happening there, though in fits and starts. Now, as to Ms. Cheng herself, she is one of the most lucid thinkers I have ever met, as well as one of the strongest people I have ever met. She has endured terrible tragedy that would break lesser people. But she does not see herself that way. She sees herself as having been naiive. While in prison in China, she was convinced that the Chinese officials would eventually acknowledge her innocence and let her go, maybe even making amends. When they finally did let her go, they did not actually admit they were wrong. They also provided nothing but obfuscation to her atttempts to investigate and track down those responsible for beating her daughter to death. when she came to the USA, she wrote the book partially because she needed the money to live on. Fortunately, it has been a resounding success. Now she is 94 years old, so you can see she is physically tough as well as mentally tough. When she passes on, the USA will have lost a national treasure.』
(Interesting insight) 『Good insight into life under Mao, but the author is annoyingly self pitying and self agrandizing.』 『Here is the haunting, inspirational account of Nien Cheng's six-and-a-half years as a political prisoner during Communist China's Cultural Revolution. "A moving affirmation of the capacity for human endurance."--Los Angeles Times.』

This book reaffirms Gilder as one of the most innovative, brilliant writers of our era. The "Israel Test" does vindicate the essential proposition that the free world, and those who aspire to be free, need Israel. But the book is much more. Gilder's pen demonstrates eloquently that the cardinal sin of envy is ever at work in anti-Semitism, and never more so than in some contemporary anti-Israel broadsides.
To read Gilder's "Israel Test" is to revive hope that the world will someday be as ready to receive a thriving, innovative Israel as America was ready to receive its first black president. 』
(Capitalism as Morality) 『From the very 1st book (Wealth and Poverty) that I read by George Gilder, I have become convinced that Capitalism has an inherent morality that enables the free development of potential within humanity creating wealth both monetary and that of the spirit/mind.
Here we get to see how a society, Israel, initially encumbered by its socialist ideology literally explodes in job and wealth creation once these arbitrary binders are released. Israel as a capitalist country not only benefits its citizenry but that of the world with its vast list of accomplishments from computing to medical to drug breakthroughs and pioneering of irrigation techniques etc.
Similarly, the Chinese economy has experienced a quantum growth once the chains of communism were removed/loosened.
George Gilder shows us over and over again the very real benefits of an enlightened capitalist system. I just pray that this administration will buy the book and learn its vital lesson.

(Worthless) 『"Worthless" is the precise description of this misleading material. This guy has no idea about the occupation of Palestine or he chooses to skip that important point and judge the rest afterwards. He judge it with chutzpah amusing he has authority to do such!
Bottom line, save your dollar and move on.』
(Absorbing and educational) 『This book opens up with a didactic, even polemic, point of view: that everyone in America --- indeed, everyone on the planet --- is being tested right now by Israel. Not physically or politically tested, but morally tested. As it happens, I'm on Gilder's side, and so with me he's preaching to the choir.
The book then veers off into totally unexpected territory, recounting the career of John von Neumann, and this titanic genius's involvement with "just about everything important" in the science of his time, from the Manhattan Project through the invention of the computer. We are treated to a new retelling of this history, which brings out and emphasizes the Jewish contribution to winning World War II and paving the road for the future Silicon Valley.
The book then veers off into another unexpected place: the history of Israel, with emphasis on the past two decades. This stuff is absolutely fascinating: how the huge influx of Russian Jews suddenly brought sleepy Israel out of a somewhat dopey-dreamy socialism (you can probably imagine how fond the Russian Jews were of anything resembling Communism!) and turned the country into a high-tech frontier almost overnight (in historical time reference). Even though I spent my working life in the Silicon Valley, I missed this very important story, and if you are at all interested in high-tech and the future of information handling, you won't want to miss this.
By the time you have read these "digressions," it becomes clear why Gilder made them. Everyone in America needs to realize that Israel is no longer a "needy friend," if indeed it ever was. Modern defense has become drenched in high-tech, and in that regard alone Israel is a very valuable ally. The jihadis have this fixed idea about destroying both Israel and America, and we need to pay attention to this.
Just last week I somehow managed to wind up having dinner next to an Australian who confidently told me that Israel "could use a few bombs dropped on it." An Australian! And his favorite country was apparently....Iran...because it had a good birth-control policy, or something. I'm quite sure that this creepy man viewed himself as a "progressive" and maybe even a "peace-lover," but he struck me as The Mad Bomber, and one more piece of evidence that anti-Semitism is scarily on the rise in our times.
I hope you don't flunk the Israel test as badly as my erstwhile dinner companion. Reading this new book by George Gilder does wonders in clarifying a lot of issues which sinister people are trying to make murky. And when I say "sinister people," I mean people like Ahmedinejad, who is a very real and very sinister person indeed.

(Take The Israel Test) 『This slim volume by the brilliant George Gilder is the definitive solution to the mystery of anti-Semitism. If you want to know "Why the Jews?" you will find the answer here. The Israel test is also a real test, applicable to countries as well as individuals. Take the test and you will know immediately where you stand, and what kind of country you live in. Along the way, Gilder tosses in the formula for a brighter future for all humanity. I have read libraries about Jews and Israel, and I can tell you confidently that no one was more illuminating than Gilder.
And you can read it on your Kindle.』 『Israel is the crucial battlefield for Capitalism and Freedom in our time.
George Gilder's global best-sellerWealth and Povertymade the moral case for capitalism. Now Gilder makes the case for Israel, portraying a conflict of barbarism and envy against civilization and creativity.
Gilder reveals Israel as a leader of human civilization, technological progress, and scientific advance. Tiny Israel stands behind only the United States in its contributions to the hi-tech economy. Israel has become the world's paramount example of the blessings of freedom.
Hatred of Israel, like anti-Semitism through history, arises from resentment of Jewish success. Rooted in a Marxist zero-sum-game theory of economics, this vision has fueled the anti-Semitic rantings of Hitler, Arafat, Osama, and history's other notorious haters.
Faced with a contest between murderous regimes sustained by envy and Nazi ideology, and a free, prosperous, and capitalist, IsraelÃÂwhose side are you on?』
