『The laptop skin is in excellent quality. The skin has some texture to it so its not just a piece of sticker that is reflective (didn't want a reflective one). The back of the sticker has grid lines so it was easy to cut the skin to the exact size of my laptop. 『The ASUS Radeon EAH4350 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express Silent Graphics Card is very quiet; it uses only a heatsink without a fan. I cannot attest to its graphic prowess because I mainly use it my computer for word processing, e-mail, and internet. However, it is a very welcome addition to have an HDMI out port for my HDTV. I would definitely recommend this card to non-power users who prefer their computers to be quiet.』

『The card is amazing for this price. I put it into my desktop and hooked up the HDMI cable to my TV and it immediately displayed video. I installed the drivers, and they had a bit of a problem under Windows 7 leading to a temporary blue screen, but Windows 7 updated them and I got a perfect desktop on my Sony TV.

I have had several graphic cards hooked up to this TV and none of them were able to size the desktop perfectly and run Media center with such aplomb. Digital audio is perfect, something others I have used could not do.

And it all just plain worked. The utilities are nice too to diagnose the card.

I am not going to downgrade this card for what it is not. It is not a major gaming card (but it kicks butt on some games) and it isn't a much more expensive gig card.

But if you want to hook HDMI to your TV and play reasonable 3D games, this card kicks butt and is incredibly easy to set up and run. And all for a price that made me smile.』

(Quiet Card, Works on Windows 7)

『Great card, does what I expected it. Good for casual gaming. Just played Stranglehold set at my max resolution (1440 x 900) and it was good! However, frame rates did drop a bit during fast-paced scenes. But considering the low price (under $50), this card is a great deal! Also has HDMI port too and is passively cooled (no fan) so it is quiet! Recommended for video viewing and occasional gaming.』

(Great for the money, but some confusing things...)

『This is one of the oddest experiences I've had.

My specs: Windows XP/MCE, Athlon Quad-core, 4Gb RAM (installed), ASUS motherboard. Card is driving a Sony 40" Bravia LCD through VGA (DB15) and 20" HP 2009m monitor, both at 1600/900 60Hz. (Drives both monitors simultaneously with no problem. I don't plan to use the HDMI feature: I don't know how my solution would affect it.)

I just received this card, and installed it, and it is working very well. But... I didn't get this exact card. I got the right box, but the card was an ATI Radeon with DVI, VGA (DB15) and HDMI, not S-Video (mini-DIN). And the box says 512MB, but the card reports 1024MB. So far, I'm happy, and the extra memory is certainly no cause for complaint: the HDMI instead of the mini-DIN might be a problem for some.

The card is well made, and installed easily. But... it took over my audio functions (because of the HDMI, I assume) and I had no sound until I went into bios setup and switched my on-board sound to "enabled" from "auto", thereby forcing the computer to recognize the on-board soundcard. Not a big deal for me, but it would be a problem for a lot of people.)

Now, the software: I downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS, and the install failed. (The card defaults to VGA, so I wasn't dead in the water, just inconvenienced.) I forced the install of the drivers on the included CD (they're unsigned) and then the newer softward loaded. Apparently, it's an upgrade. Whatever... but... when you ask the software it loads as a controller (called "Catalyst Control Center") to find the latest drivers (a very good feature) it takes you to AMD/ATI's website, and you download much later drivers from them, and get a much better control interface, and you're really in business. The Catalyst... whatever... adds a lot of functionality for the advanced user (more advanced than me) and restores to XP/MCE some lost features, like monitor cloning. (If you don't know what that is, you don't need it.)

This whole process should be a lot better. It's do-able, but I'm a fairly advanced user, and it was time-consuming and far too confusing. Too many suppliers/manufacturers/software developers with too little co-ordination between them.

However... it is a great card at an amazingly low price (though I notice it has gone up a little). It's worth a try, but by all means, check the contents of the box carefully before you install it. Good luck.』

『I purchased the ASUS EAH4350 (non-low profile) version of this, which is essentially the same card, except mine comes with a HDMI port. This is an economical choice for a video card for motherboards like mine that do not come with integrated graphics. The EAH4350 handled Blueray/HD playback beautifully and provided audio-out through HDMI as well, making this a solid HTPC card. As it's fanless, this is absolutely silent, another great feature for HTPC or just anyone looking to reduce the noise on their rigs.
Don't expect it to run demanding games Crysis. Nevertheless, I found gaming on this card on Left4Dead and Team Fortress 2 totally acceptable while using lower resolutions. It has similar or better in terms of performance compared to my Nvidia 7800GS which it replaced.』

『I switched from an AOC 22" VGA monitor to this one, and to be honest I don't see a big change other than this being brighter. I'm using the DVI connection but don't see a big difference haven't seen an HD movie on it, mostly i just game on it or surf the web.

Maybe my expectations were bit high, but still I love this monitor it's pretty good, no dead pixels or anything the only thing I don't like it's the Stand that doesn't hold the monitor as firm as it should.』

『I am a professional 15 years old experienced digital artist. I am working with professional screens at work, I also have dell 24wfp at home, I order this monitor from amazon for using dual screen for my reference pictures and web browsing on the other monitor, I wasn't expecting amazing quality, but I am really surprised with the image quality, my $800 Dell monitor is only slightly better then this Asus. First time I plug it, it was too bright, I mean the images, not the screen. I was kind of disappointed. Then I discover the scenery mode and I tweak the brightness, sharpness and the saturation, like about 5-10 minutes I get almost the same image like my dell monitor. Do not bother the other setups, just select the scenery mode and put this settings up,
Brightness 51, Contras 64, Sharpness 44, Saturation 50 or 55. so it's pretty much the same as calibrated dell 24wfp screen.

There is some downs on this monitor too, Up and down angles are getting darker, Left right is better, you don't move your head up and down much so if you can get the right angle it will work great. if you like to put your monitor high up, you are going to hate the stand, it is horrible. You can not move your monitor up and down, I put a ikea furniture piece to raise it up.
it is looking good actually, I glued some artwork on it, now it looks retro, I love it, but I am lucky that I have this furniture piece, Otherwise I might going to use books to raise it so it could be looks boring because I can only use my old Stephen king books as a raiser. :)
There is also details lost on light images, it is very very slight, sharpness is great, colors are amazing, I turn down the green a little like %3 to match my pro screen. So overall I am very pleased with this monitor even after stand and brightness works.
I still draw my images on my dell screen, because it's a bit better, also it has 1920x1600, so there is 120 pixel difference vertically.
so, it is perfect for second monitor, but if it is your only monitor and you are a digital artist, buy pro monitors. For other type of user this monitor is supersonic! Actually even if you are digital artist with a tight budget or if you are a beginner artist, it might be your favorite monitor.
if my pro screen dies, I might get one more Asus, and use that $600 difference for buying 600 glow stick from dollar stores then crack them at the same time and watch them.

Other then the image quality, I never test the speakers or HDMI I don't care.
Digital camera is not working with XP 64 bit because there is no driver, so it feels like my asus monitor has a blind eye on top of her head.
Anyways this is a good buy, for $209, it's a steal. I recommend this monitor anyone except digital artist who is going to use it as a main monitor as a main monitor.』

(Outstanding netbook)

『Despite having this netbook for a short amount of time, so far so good. It's a great netbook. Everything was expected. Perfect for college students like me who don't want the hassle of bringing huge laptops and want to work on school work while at school. I'll list the pros and cons here:

Pros
-No more glossy finish which means no more finger print problems
-Pretty lightweight and small being super portable
-Despite lacking features, the Windows 7 OS is not bad, the lacked features are not 100% required
-At full charge, I saw a maximum of 13 hours and 7 minutes but I don't think it actually lasted for that long, however I never really tested the battery but it does have a long battery life
-ASUS was nice enough to provide a program so you can change the desktop background which Windows 7 Starter lacks on other netbooks
-Keyboard feels comfortable and isn't too loud when you type
-Price feels like a bargain since these netbooks are one of the newer models especially containing the new Intel Atom 450 Processor
-I still never received a 3 program usage limit notification that some say Windows 7 Starter had; I had yahoo instant messenger, disk cleanup, anti virus, internet browser with 4 tabs, Microsoft Word, Windows Media Player, and My Documents opened at the same time
-Webcam is good
-Some say Windows XP is still faster, but to me, they're both the same when it comes to performance
-2GB memory upgrade is not necessary
-So far no charger/charging problems like many other ASUS netbooks have
-Bluetooth is a plus
-The netbook's fan is pretty quiet, almost makes me think there isn't one in it
-Netbook does not get hot
-Sound is amazing

Cons
-Netbook easily tilts back, best to keep it on a flat surface
-Despite its long battery life, I constantly check the battery meter, and sometimes it changes from 9 hours, down to 6 hours instantly, but it comes back to 9, but this depends on how you use your computer I assume, I got freaked out at first and thought the 11 hours was bull...
-I don't like the silver touchpad button(s), it requires you to press hard and despite being 2 buttons, it seems like it's only 1 whole button
-Not sure why ASUS provided a CD in the package when the netbook doesn't have a CD drive
-Cannot bridge my Wireless Network connection with Local Area connection, so I was not able to use the netbook as a wireless Ethernet adapter especially for my XBOX 360, however on other Windows 7, you can; just another feature the Windows 7 Starter lacks
-A netbook sleeve included would of been nice but too bad it does not come with one

Overall this is a great netbook. Clearly the pros overwhelm the cons, which is why I gave it 5 stars. I would highly recommend this netbook to anyone wanting a portable laptop with a good price. Even though it's still early to write a review, I will update this in the future to see if I experience anything new.』

(Just what we wanted)

『We read lots of reviews online and looked at the specs for what was available, and we ultimately chose this brand and model for price and specs value.

We are casual users, mostly for office, photo, and some video. I've not installed any heavy software yet. I'm not a gamer.

We followed the instructions and had no problem getting it charged and up and running. I've only had to remove a little bloatware and found most of the features I need. So far, it looks like we made a good choice.

1. Like other reviewers, we think the keyboard is fine. And I have larger hands.
2. The web cam works and the quality is not fabulous, but satisfactory.
3. The splash top feature to circumvent the windows OS set up easily, though it didn't seem much of an advantage except signing on easily to the internet. I'll have to experiment more to see if it's faster or not.
4. The SD slot is a great feature, and I was able to play my mp4 videos with no change of settings. This is also in part due to having windows 7. I've had problems with video in Vista.
5. The fit and finish is great. I like the textured lid, subtle and hip. The keys, hinges, buttons, etc. are good.
6. The computer fit easily in the smaller of the 10.2 netbook cases we tried. We went with a simple Targus neoprene cover.
7. The mouse pad works nicely, smoothly.
8. I understand what people are saying about it feeling top heavy, like it wants to tilt back, but it is no issue on a flat surface.
9. We're very glad we got the new processor and larger harddrive.

Overall, it looks like a good purchase for us. The size, shape, weight, and features meet our needs.

『I received my computer today and let it charge for about 5 hours before I turned it on. I am very impressed with it. Like the last viewer said the color is not as bright or noticable as on the pictures but have a subtle smooth look that is not to extravagant. I like it.

Like the past reviewer said I am getting about 7 to 8 hours of battery life. This is with a little under half screen brightness and auto power saving. This is still great. My last netbook got only 3 hours.

The window 7 starter is ok. I tried to download the premium add up but it was unavailable on the microsoft site. Fortunately I ordered it the other day and it should be here soon. I am not completely happy with the starter. I hope the full version does not affect the battery life.

I was happy to see that there was not a lot of bloat ware.

Great computer. I am giving it 4 stars because of the windows 7 starter.

Update: I installed windows home premium. I still get 7 to 8 hours of battery life with it so it did not affect the battery.

(Eye-Catching, All Day Netbook)

『I really like the Asus 1001p. I am typing this review on it and the non-"chiclet" keyboard feels big and spacious. Very easy to type on. I actually thought I'd miss the chiclet keyboard quite a bit, but nope. Not at all. All the keys seem to have great travel and feel sturdy, including F9 (which someone else mentioned. The "carbon fiber" treatment on the exterior shell is nice but not as readily visible as the photos on Amazon would have you to believe. It is actually quite a bit more subtle in real world lighting. It is nice though. This unit is slick. The carbon fiber look is also there on the palm rest, though not on the bottom. Screen is bright and crisp. I installed Hulu desktop and found that full screen video is choppy unless on the lowest quality setting. This might just be a result of the resources that the Hulu Desktop app is using since it requires 2GB RAM and I only have 1GB in my unit.

The hard drive comes pre-partioned into 2 local drives, C and D. C being 100GB and D being 122GB. Not a fan of this setup, but will go with it for now. I figured the Hard Drive would be partitioned since one of the advertised features is that by holding F9 during boot up you can reimage back to factory default. The unit came sort of no frills with only the battery, install CD, adapter, and warranty card in the box. Installing many programs on it under windows 7 starter has been a breeze so far.

One major gripe about the unit is that since it has such a heavy 6 cell battery that is all the way to the rear of the unit, I found the computer wanting to tilt backwards, its front feet lifting off my lap quite often, especially if the screen is pushed further away from you. This wasn't too big a deal if you have it on an absolutely flat surface, but I can see how if you are lap typing on this puppy that it would be an issue. The netbook is seriously weighted towards the rear hinge forcing you to cheat the screen angle forward in order to compensate. This gives you a slightly less viewable angle. Prior to purchasing the 1001p, I had taken a look at the HP Mini 210 and decided against it primarily because its 6 cell battery extends out and down from the rear hinge area. But now I see why their engineers chose this route, it forces the laptop back into a typeable position. I almost wouldn't mind that sort of a design now.

First full day of usage I got around 7 off/on hours of battery life with about 20% remaining. Not sure if I'll get close to the "asterix-promised" 11 hours of battery life as my battery meter seems to tell me it will be closer to 7-8 hours. I found that if you hit Fn + Spacebar, you can shuttle through the various Asus powersaving modes (S.H.E. - Google it). Only time will tell how much they add to system performance and battery life. Overall I'm pleased with the unit. My biggest gripes are the rear-weighted design and the pre-partitioned hard drive. Other than that, I think it's a fine machine. I found the trackpad to be zippy and quite responsive. I have yet to have any cursor-jumping issues. Plus the multitouch scrolling is as smooth as butter.』

『I was absolutely surprised by how well fabricated this little netbook is.
The Quality is excellent, the keyboard, takes almost zero getting used to from a full size keyboard. I am typing this review from the unit itself, and I can type to 95% full speed.

Most surprising in order:
1. Speed! I wouldnt have imagined with a gig of ram and an N450 ATOM that windows 7 would run this fast. My wireless downloads come in as fast as my athlon multicore desktop. IE launches quickly, as well as other applications. Windows 7 Starter runs superbly. I don't imagine that a CAD CAM or any heavy duty graphical app will run fast on this at all but this is a netbook, and it is surprisingly snappy.

2. Component Quality: I was so happy to find that the touchpad is a synaptics brand touchpad, everyone knows that the synaptics touchpad is the best and the driver software allows you all the advanced touchpad features.

3. USB Ports: I can hookup a Smart Card Reader, a USB Logic Analyzer, and a 4gb Sandisk cruzer all at the same time. I imagine that if you owned a bluetooth mouse or a bluetooth smart phone you can also get that up and running simultaneously.

Overall, an amazingly capable netbook.

One more thing, the aesthetics were just what I was expecting, it is a sharp looking netbook.
