『Plug the power cord into box one, plug ethernet cable from box one to router, plug USB cord into box two and plug USB end into player, connect ethernet cable from box 2 to player and enjoy. 3 blue lights on both boxes and you're golden. I was surprised by the overall size I expected the boxes to be bigger but the small size is good and makes them not stand out so much. Other than the USB cable wrapped around to the front of my Panasonic Blu Ray player.

I was surprised that there wasn't any instructions in the box, not even a simple diagram print. Not that it is that complicated to figure out. Constant power would need to be on the router end and USB power on the player side is logical but if you are new to this type of thing that may not be obvious so there should have been at the very least a diagram. in the box or printed on the box. So I will give it 4 stars out of 5. Other than that it worked like a charm and I'm enjoying BD-Live.』

『packaging of this item is very simple: just a plain white cardboard box. not even a manual explaining how it works.
i got this as my solution for getting a blu-ray player that requires wired ethernet connection online: plug #1 to a router and power source, and #2 to the blu-ray player's ethernet and usb port (for power), and it's done. no setup required. the process is extremely easy. the down side is the network box takes up the only usb port on my blu-ray player, and this only works one to one - any other players that require wired network access would have to get their own bridge kits.』

(good potential product, but now for now)

『Description of this product was very limited. I found that it worked only for basic updates of firmware and for showing some additional information on specific movies.. Not a terribly useful frill.. There is a 3rd party software to show video and play audio from your PC by using this wireless set. However, it is in beta version and does not seem to be freely available..』

(Bad set up; good device after setup)

『The Asus wireless bridge arrives with no setup guide or instructions; the theory is that it is fully plug-and-play with no instructions needed. What you will find in the shipping box are: two device boxes, marked simply 1 and 2; two ethernet cables; one power adapter to plug into the electric supply and one of the two boxes (both boxes appear identical except for their numbers); and one USB power cord to plug into a USB port on a computer, Blue-ray player or other device to be connected to the wireless network. That's it. Good luck. I didn't find a setup guide on the Asus web site, but it might have been there somewhere.

I assumed that box no. 1 should be connected to the cable modem or router (using one of the two ethernet cables) and to the power adaptor. I did see three blue lights come on (power, ethernet, wireless) which looked promising. I went to my Blue-ray player (an Oppo BDP-83) and used the other ethernet cable for box no. 2. No lights; no good wireless connection. So I tried the USB power connector. For some reason, this didn't work at this time, but later I learned that this was the correct step.

I read customer reviews here and on another vendor's site for the Asus. On the Asus site I found diddly squat. Someone (incorrectly) said that the power adaptor needs to be on the receiving box (no. 2). So I moved my power adaptor from no. 1 (which now lost all its nice blue lights) to no. 2 (which now got the blue lights). Testing the connection on my Oppo showed no connection. So I did some troubleshooting by moving the ethernet connection over from box no. 2 to my laptop computer, which couldn't get an internet connection either.

So, fortunately, I went to Oppo's own website. It did have the Asus setup guide, which is very, very simple: The power adaptor goes with box no. 1, which is connected to the electric source and (by ethernet) to your router or modem. The USB power cord is connected from a USB port on the back of the Oppo into box no. 2. The second ethernet connection goes between box no. 2 and an ethernet connection on the Oppo. Presto. Done. The connection works. Both box no. 1 and box no. 2 have pretty blue lights (three each).

Asus' failure to provide this simple setup guide in the shipping box is inexcusable. What should have taken less than five minutes took me a couple of hours of fooling around. Once you get it up and running, it works simply and great. So: 1 star for setup. 5 stars for performance (and being simple little boxes that won't clutter up your system or work area). Average: 3 stars.』

『I was surprised at how small they were when I opened the box. I was expecting 2 units the size of a router. They are a little smaller than a deck of cards.

They come in a white box. No instructions.

Setup: Easy. Just plug in and go. Comes with 2 patch cables, 1 AC-DC transformer and 1 USB cable (for power.) It was nice that they are wall mountable.

Seat of the pants testing shows that it is running quicker than my laptop's normal wireless link.

My router shows 1 of the units as a wired connection, and shows my laptop as a wired connection.

I was impressed with it, I was expecting to have to fiddle with it for a good while.

The only thing that is disconcerting is that I can't find much about it on the internet.』

(Outstanding netbook.)

『This netbook is everything I thought it would be and I love everything about it. I purchased mine through Newegg for 20 bucks cheaper, free shipping and a free notebook mouse. They've since deactivated this netbook on their site, so I decided to review on here rather than let my opinion go to waste.

Right out of the box it's very snappy and processes everything super quick. Even with 1gb of ram it's runs most everything very well, (Firefox, OpenOffice, Pidgin and AVG to name a few.) Youtube videos stream well, but HD quality can be choppy (I'm not picky.)

The keyboard is intuitive and is easy to type on with even for someone with larger hands. As far as wireless signal, I've had absolutely no trouble picking up or maintaining strong signals. The screen is bright and the colors are vibrant. Probably the biggest surpirse from owning this is that it took no time at all to adjust from a 22" LCD to this little 10" screen.

Battery? I didn't expect to pull the advertised 7 hours, however, I can usually do a sweet 4.5-5 hours with regular use. I have not tested the built-in web-cam thoroughly, so I can't pass judgement on that.

I have only found two cons and they're, in my opinion, minor. As other reviewers here have said, there is no light for caps lock. Super minor, I know - but if you're typing in a password it can be frustrating. Keeping in mind that I've never owned a laptop before, the other "con" I've found is the trackpad. You could chalk it up that I'm not used to it yet, but it can be a little sporadic and is super sensitive. I use a mouse the majority of the time anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.

Overall, I give it 5 stars. I have no regrets buying this netbook and I would recommend it.』

『Although this netbook seems to be the oddball of the Eee PC line (seems it was more or less a quick pitstop between the darlings of the series - the 901 and the 1000HE/1005HA), it has performed more than admirably for my uses. I adopted this netbook after my wife "acquired" (read: borrowed and never gave back) my Eee PC 901 running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04. If you are a fan of F/LOSS, I think you will be quite pleased with this netbook. For the price, enough time has passed that the most recent kernels will fully support the hardware on this netbook in the majority of cases. I have run Crunchbang, Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 and 9.10, as well as the recent Fedora 12 Xfce Spin on this netbook with little to no hand configuration required. And although Pearl White might be considered a less "masculine" color, it is also a less fingerprint prone color as well so you don't end up feeling the need to wipe it down with your microfiber cloth every five minutes. Bottom line is that it is the same sturdy, reliable hardware and build that you have come to know and love with the Eee PC series coupled with the maturity and reliability to run most modern Linux distributions with confidence, if you choose to do so. Very happy with mine and have not even considered shopping around for a new netbook despite new advances and my usual propensity to hop on the latest and greatest technology. Highly recommended if you are a GNU/Linux fan.』

『I have owned thos product for about 6 months. I have sent it back for repair two times. The first time the computer displayed the blue screen on death within 1 month of purchase. Repair was done and computer was returned promptly. Within 2 months I noticed that the computer was not charging properly. It appeared like there was a possible problem in the socket or the connector. I ignored the problem till one fine day it stopped charging completly. So again I call up and sent it back for repair only to find that the problem was not fixed and I have to send it back yet again. They have tried to be accomodating by sending me a shipping label etc but I feel the unit itsewlf is a faulty piece. No offer to replace defective unit.

I own several laptops and desktops. I am not a novice at using one either. I am not sure if this is a ASUS problem or just my particular unit but I am unhappy with my unit.』

『Within one month of owning it, and perhaps 8 hours of use, I experianced a complete hardware
meltdown and had to return the unit. I was happy with it until it crashed. This unit experianced no harsh handeling
or abuse. This unit was just a dud.』

(Fantastic Netbook!)

『I purchased this computer as my primary machine and I couldn't be happier. It can handle every task I need (although a touch slower than my previous ginormous laptop with Core 2 Duo Processor and Wireless N) the portable size definitely makes up for the difference!

I especially love the built in SD card that hides flush inside the unit - I have a very large capacity card inside and use it as a daily back up to my most precious data. The battery life is incredible and really lasts nearly as long as advertised! I find the screen size perfect...any less would be too small. My only gripe is the feet on the bottom make it so much thicker than it needs to be.

If using this as a primary computer, there are a couple accessories I would highly recommend - portable keyboard (I have the silicone roll-up style), optical travel mouse (I use a Microsoft cordless optical), and an external DVD drive. I am very petite with tiny hands and I even sometimes find typing a lot to be a challenge so the portable keyboard I found is very compact, inexpensive and does the trick when I have a lot of typing. The keyboard really is nearly full size of a standard keyboard but since I type all day on a standard size keyboard at work, using this one throws me off for fast typing. The portable mouse speaks for itself. And although I've had my Eee for 5 months now I just this week purchased an external DVD drive and only wish I'd done it sooner. It is a total pain to transfer installation CDs (Quickbooks, Roxio Media Creator, Office 2007, etc.) from their CDs onto an SD card...you get the idea. Oh, I also did the 2GB upgrade the day I bought it - super easy&cheap, definitely recommend this as well.

Bottom Line: fabulous deal on a great machine and everywhere you go people will marvel and be jealous of your teeny machine amazed that it can do everything their big monster can do! Everyone in my house is jealous and wants one of their own. My lucky 10 year old daughter will be getting one for Christmas this year (shh-don't tell her, it's a surprise!). Enjoy yours :)』
