(Great AGP card) 『I purchased this card for the HDMI output and HDCP compliance. It's a great card to update an aging machine; even works with 64-bit Windows OS's without having to go searching for drivers.』
(First online item that I ever returned) 『If you intend to use this for HD playing for H.264 encoding using DXVA, you are wasting time. I finally returned this item.
1. Installation/Uninstallation very difficult This card is very difficult to plug in the AGP. Need extra power connector or a Y connector. The fan housing actually blocks AGP lock so if you want to unplug the card, you cannot get the lock and unlock it from AGP. I almost broke my finger nail for that. If there are motherboard capacitor nearby, be extremely careful
2. The normal driver for ATI does not work. You need to get the hotfix for AGP. I followed many websites' suggestion to enable the DXVA, nothing got worked out as expected. Only 1 HD clip worked with DXVA activated when using MPC HC. I just don't understand why the DXVA is so difficult to work on this card. Later, I purchased a PNY NVidia 8400 GS PCI, it worked mostly.
The conclusion is that ATI is lagging behind on NVidia big time on HD playing. Things are totally different now. I still remember that ATI was so good in 2001.』
(Excellent card with capabilities many don't realize.) 『This is an excellent card for a non-gamer.
The above reviewer has it backwards. The GPU is underpowered for gaming. The memory is more than the GPU can likely utilize but there MAY be some applications that can utilize more than 256MB, especially if you have a dual-monitor setup.
Other: - Great drop-in for motherboards with underpowered on-board graphics. - Not a modern gaming card though some games with low requirements, especially some older games may run fine. - Dedicated memory instead of sharing onboard RAM. Very useful if you are extremely limited in onboard RAM (freeing up 128MB out of 1024MB does help) - The UVD can decode AVC/H.264 and VC-1 1080p video (or lower). You likely need to install the free application "K-Lite" ([...]) and ensure DXVA is enabled. Very useful especially if your CPU was previously underpowered. Just watched Hellboy (1080p, MKV, AVC, DTS 6-channel). My X2-4800+ CPU used 65% of its cycles without DXVA enabled (no hardware graphics decoding) and 3% (THREE PERCENT) with it enabled. Vista or Windows 7 used 10% more on average for the Windows overhead but movies still didn't go above 20%. - full Aero support - There is essentially NO noticeable difference between most modern graphics cards. Differences in the Windows interface performance are usually due to differences in the Hard Drive speeds or amount of RAM. A fast SSD and at least 2GB of RAM (with this card and probably any dual-core CPU) will provide the best experience for multi-tasking and the basic Windows experience.
Conclusion: An awesome little card that is adequate for most non-gamers and can provide a nice boost in various ways for older computers.』
(Not a lot of oomph for that much memory...) 『Yes, I know as well as the next guy that you should look at a lot more than memory when buying a graphics card. I bought this card without really finding any reviews for it. A lot of cards come with more memory than the card's processor can handle. They upgrade the memory (very inexpensive) and leave the slower processor. I am more and more convinced that this is the deal with this card. I know, there are many more factors to getting good graphics, (pixel shaders, etc.) and I think that this card is a little skimpy when it comes to performance, and especially with the specs that they think that no one will check. Runs my vista eye candy nicely, but other than that I don't think I can notice much of a difference between this and my old 128mb card. Seriously people, look at more than the memory when buying a card.』 『Low profile design with low profile bracket bundledUnified Video Decoder 2 (UVD2)Native HDMI output supportASUS SplendidASUS gamer OSDASUS Smart DoctorOpenGL 2.0 supportATI CrossFireX multi-GPU support』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Easy to use, portable and worth the money) 『While I've never been a big fan of touchpads and related buttons to replace a mouse when I've used laptops in the past, I found the touchpad on the ASUS Eee PC Seashell pretty easy to use and considered going without a mouse. However, after buying the mouse, I highly recommend it to others. It makes the Seashell materially easy to navigate. The mouse is also very small, so it's easy to cart around with the Seashell. So well worth the few extra dollars.』
(It's OK, but I wish I would gone wireless instead...) 『I mainly got this mouse to match my ASUS Eee 1005HA netbook, but now wish I would have gone with a wireless mouse.
I am currently going to school, and when I take out the AC adapter, my headphones, and this mouse, it is all one tangled mess!
Even with the relatively short cord (in all, the whole thing is about 35" from end to end), between the three things mentioned about, it still all turned into a big tangled mess.
I think a wireless mouse would at least eliminate some of the tangle.
Also, $17 is a bit much for a simple corded USB mouse I think, but it is quite responsive, but then again, with a 10" screen, it doesn't take much movement to move across the entire screen. Also, this mouse is pretty low profile (about 1" tall), and is only 3" long, and 2" wide, in case anyone has any problems with low profile mice.
I hope this helps!』 『With its elegant design and four distinct matching colors to choose from, the Seashell Optical Mouse is the ideal companion for your Eee PC Seashell. Its chic and compact design ensures a hassle-free solution to mobile, on-the-go computing. Aesthetics aside, the Seashell Optical Mouse also has the performance to match its namesake. It features an advanced optical sensor that is able to track up to 1000dpi, tracking smoothly even in the absence of a mouse pad.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Decent (not perfect) hardware, atrocious support.) 『This is an interesting product for tinkerers (for whom it offers a number of attractive options at a relatively low price). For everybody else it is a nightmare:
1. ASUS' rebate system is terrible: the web registration process is arcane and seems to be designed with only one goal in mind: to prevent the customer from getting a rebate.
2. The firmware on the router is unbelievably bad and user-unfriendly. It just plain does not work (especially the part that concerns the USB port). No customer support is available.
3. Installing third party firmware (such as the excellent OpenWRT distribution) requires significant expertise and is not for the faint of heart.
Now about the value of this router for the DIY crowd. It is pretty good, if you install OpenWRT, you can write your own software for it and create a number of interesting projects with it. The fly in the ointment is the fact that it uses a Broadcom CPU which makes it impossible to update the kernel to 2.6 and take full advantage of USB 2.0. So if you want a nice open platform from a company that cares about creative types, choose something with an Atheros chip in it from someone other than ASUS.
If you want something that `just works' and is `easy to setup', avoid this router like a plague.』
(Very easy to setup, especially if you have setup a router before.) 『I do not believe this is a first time router. If you have never setup a router before I would probably go with a Linksys or Netgear. Or if you are confident you do not need support from Asus to set it up out of box, then I would get it.
It is VERY easy to setup with the browser setup, but Asus *support* is lackluster. Their website is slow or unresponsive at times or may not even come up (blank page). The customer service reps are very nice and professional, but I found a few to not know the products I call in for and feel they are reading off a script.
That being said, I love this router. I run dd-wrt on it as well and it rock solid. The default firmware seems good and probably works for the general public perfectly fine. DD-wrt allows me to run a print, web, and nas server off a usb hub connected to the usb port. Seems well designed / ventilated because it runs no where near burning hot like a Netgear router I have. The range works great and I see no problems in my two story townhome with any connectivity issues. Matter of fact I see 5 out of 5 bars while I'm one story above the router on the second floor on my laptop.』
(Print server function is crap) 『I bought this router so I could share my printer on my network. I didn't realize that I needed to check the list of supported printers (should have read previous feedback). The list of supported printers is very small and none of the 3 printers that I own are on the list. It's useless to me since I bought is for the print server function.』
(Flash it with DD-WRT) 『I don't know much about the OEM firmware because I immediately flashed DD-WRT onto it. DD-WRT is well documented, easy to use and trivial to install on this router from a windows computer. I use this in my room as a wireless repeater/bridge which allows me to log on to the wireless network without configuring a wireless card (which can be a pain with linux) as well as increase the range of my network. This router also has a usb port so the memory can be expanded for use as Network Attached Storage (NAS), as a lite weight web server or as a print server. The only cons are I have to reboot the thing approximately every three months and the onboard memory is a bit lacking for something at this price.』
(Wonderful device) 『I've had this router for about six months now. I installed a 3rd-party firmware on it (search for "Tomato ND" or "DD-Wrt", it was surprisingly easy) and it's been running nonstop, without reboot ever since. Connections are stable (with about 5-6 clients over WPA), range is sufficient (for my small apartment anyway), transfer speeds are good; in short, everything works great. I couldn't be happier -- especially since I got this on sale. :)』 『The WL-320gE wireless access point provides up to 850m of open space coverage range. The AP also enables client, bridge, repeater and gateway functions to offer versatile wireless solutions for different WLAN environments. With built-in high-power amplifier with 20dBm average transmit power and 5dBi high-gain antenna, the WL-320gE delivers excellent signal quality and coverage range up to 850 meters in open space. This is especially effective when in access point modes, which signal quality and coverage range play critical roles. The WL-320gE supports most enterprise network requirement, including SNMP, Multiple SSID and VLAN. SNMP standard (v3) support allows system administrators to manage multiple access points from remote locations. Furthermore multiple SSID and VLAN support offer a cost-effective solution to separate the physical environment into a virtual networking area with different security level for a wide range of application requirements.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not exactly tailor made) 『The CaseCrown case is nicely made. The soft-sided padding is sufficient to protect the contents from run of the mill minor bumps and jostling. The listing here, as if it were specially sized for an ASUS external optical drive is a bit misleading (or just creative marketing). The case as delivered is labeled "E-Book Reader Case" on the attached manufacturer's tag, and is essentially a generic product for kindle-sized electronics. In fact, if you track down the product number on the CaseCrown website, you'll find this listed as a Kindle case. The case is relatively snug around the optical drive, though there are about 2 inches of empty space at the top. If you put the USB cord there, instead of in the outside zipper pocket, things fit pretty well.』 『This CaseCrown external burner Protective Sleeve is the perfect way to store your external burner! (Sleek but not perfect) 『Pros: -long battery life -light weight -traveller's best friend -decent speakers
Cons: -poor screen definition for the size -Enter key is too small, so typing can be difficult -tons of bloatware
Other: -has a NumPad 』
(ASUS UL50VT-A1) 『Put simply, I really like this machine! I live in a remote village on Kodiak Island, and needed a laptop that would be easy to travel with. After reading every review I could find, and after learning about ASUS' good reliability rating, a real plus up here, I ordered one. It arrived quickly and undamaged in transit. Setup was painless and there was almost no crapware. I've been using it every day for two months and am almost completely satisfied. Keyboard flex, a common criticism, I found to be a non-issue. The speakers are clear and sufficiently loud even at a middle setting - important for us geezers. My only gripe is with the touchpad: it is necessary to bear down on it more than I like. Dragging is sometimes clumsy. Battery life is impressive. I haven't run the battery out yet, even watching DVDs. I like the long warranty, the appearance, and the "travelability" . I give it 4 1/2 stars - half a star off for the touchpad. Ioasaph 』
(Very Good Laptop) 『My Rating: 4 1/2 Stars.
Pros: A mobile laptop. Light weight. Great Screen LED is Nice. Full keyboard although its a 15"er. Modern CPU that gives you enough speed without sucking all the juice of the battery. Gets you 5+ hours . Discrete Graphics Card. 4 GB of DDR 3. Runs some games. Not Cluttered with 3rd Party Software. Asus programs are helpful. Windows 7 is better that Vista ! Claims to have a 2 year warranty.
Cons: 1) Integrated Mouse Button is bad. Its a stiff button. 2) It doesn't bother me but I could see other picky people be bothered by the Gloss finish; it does get smudgy easily.
Overall I like this computer. Hardware wise its worth every cent. It was exactly what I was looking for with the right price. I probably changed laptops every 6 months for the past 2 years because I couldn't find a good fit for me. This one might be the laptop I will stay with for a while. It sucks that Asus got everything right except the mouse and the gloss finish, in my opinion.
』
(battery is half of what was advertised!) 『I just received this computer last week. The ul80vt model was sold out, so I opted for the larger ul50 vt. Th touchpad takes some getting used to and is certainly an annoyance sometimes, but as a student the draw for me was the long battery life.
EVEN ON THE MOST POWER SAVING SETTINGS THIS BATTERY ONLY GETS 6 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE. For this, I could have spent 60% of the money and purchased an acer. Asus has not been responsive about this problem and I am thinking of taking the 15% hit and returning the computer to Amazon. If this is indicative of their customer service I do not want 2 years of this.
The power saving settings make the colors look very washed out and ugly.
it's a pretty machine if you get all that Asus says you should. If not, there are less expensive options with better quality cameras and touchpads.』 『The ASUS UL50Vt features the ground-breaking ASUS Turbo33 technology, which integrates both hardware and software to enhance system performance by up to 33%.ur way through the day. It fits effortlessly into your day bag, haversack or briefcase, and with the brushed aluminum design, it shrugs off scratches and abrasions, protecting its gorgeous exterior.』
