Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (You will rediscover some of your music) 『I got this card today, and I am still listening to music at 2:30 in the morning. Previously, I used a Creative SupremeFX-Fi card that came with my motherboard (Asus Maximus Formula). The Creative card was good, but I was unaware of what I was missing.
Everything (sound related) is better with this card. I have a Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 system (I only use 2 satellites, in a 2.1 setting because of the room size). The speakers can play louder, and the sound is richer, more spacious, better defined...
I was never into cans, however I have recently purchased a Sennheiser PC 350 gaming set for a VOIP application and language training. The headset was working fine with the Creative card, but it truly shines with this new one (I am listening through the headset right now). I love the sound so much that I am thinking of buying a dedicated headphone set for music (Sennheiser 600?)... do I need say that this is all because of the card?
Also, I noticed that it's much easier to pass the "Pronunciation" section in language training, so it looks like the card is good with the microphone as well (the Senn PC 350 has a very good microphone to start with).
When I first put the headset on and started to listen to the music, the sound was so good I thought that I actually listen to the speakers (on the SupremeFx-Fi the difference was quite clear, with the speakers easily outperforming the headset). After I removed the headset (and noticed the silence in the room) I said to myself: Wow! - make no mistake, this is a mean sound card. The dedicated Dolby Headphone amp is very impressive. Please don't forget that my headset, while good, is not an "audiophile" product.
Back to the card: I was a little concerned about the card working with my Windows 7 64 bit system. I got a little more confident when I saw the drivers being available on Asus' web site. I had no problem whatsoever (once I downloaded the drivers from Asus' website - the drivers that came on the CD were for XP/Vista). The whole set-up (mechanical + software install) lasted at most 30 minutes - and that was because I took my time.
To be fair to Creative, the FX-Fi was likely a much cheaper card. The price difference notwithstanding, given the dramatic improvement I noticed in so many areas - in such a finicky space as audio - I think this card is a great value.
I bought the card from Electronica Direct - one of Amazon's Marketplace partners, and everything went very well (the card arrived in 2 days, as promised).』
(Not Recomeneded: Waste of my time and ASUS's time) 『Seems likw ASUS had a nice product, however their sales department is terrible and technical support is mixed depending on who you talk to. For a $175 card I would expect to receieve the correct drivers and the card to run effectively with minimum issues. This was not the case with this card. One tech support person hung up on me for no reason. Bottom line this card is not worth $175 and luckily Amazon let me return the card.
I was looking for a sound Card that could support output to two different zones. Two zones would allow me to connect to multiple receivers so I can play music in multiple rooms in my house while playing movies on my home theater system. I called ASUS and asked if they could recomend a sound card that could support two zones. Sales insisted this was the card for me. After recieving the card I spent two days playing with it only to finally determine that it is not capable of supporting two zones. ASUS tech support said 2 zones is impossible and they did not understand why sales would give sa false impression of the card capability.
As far as installation goes this was a nightmare. I specified Windows 7 as an operating system. The card came with Windows Vista drivers. So after playing with it for several hours I finally called tech support only to be informed the wrong drivers were provided with the installation disk. I spent another hour with tech support finding the correct drivers to get the card working. After the drivers were installed I could not get the card to work and called tech support again. The tech support guy insisted this was a motherboard issue and hung up on me. It's funny because my motherboard is manufactured by ASUS. After calling back again they told me i needed an update to my chipset to get this to work. Still no sound...... It turned out the adapter they provided for SPDIF connection to optical cable does not work. When I finally got sound I tried configuring for two zones. Called tech support again only to be informed the card was not designed for two zones.
Some tech support guys were excellent and helped a great deal.... Others did not care to resolve issues and one hung up..... Depends on who you get.....
』
(Great input section too) 『I bought this card after first considering the another brand for a similar price. I chose the Essence STX mainly on the strength of the quality of the Line-In components. All of the reviews of this card I have seen are focused on playback performance and, by inference, the DAC section of the card, which is excellent. Since I do a lot of 2-channel recording, mainly vinyl conversion and other analog sources, I wanted a card with top notch analog/digital converters. This card fits the bill. The sound quality on the recordings is even better than I expected--great depth, clarity, dynamics and very quiet. Note: I do not record live with this card.
If you are looking for a sound card to mate with either a good pair of headphones, or a high-end stereo system, this one is just the ticket. Or if you want to transfer your lp collection to digital format and you have a good front end setup, this is a great tool for the job. You can also use the wave input to record material streamed off the internet.』
(Audiophile sound card) 『I bought this sound card to drive my 2ch stereo system via the RCA connectors. I'm very pleased with the sound. Setup was done in 3 minutes or so and there was nothing tricky about it at all. It's got a bit of "audio jewelry" to make it look nice which some people are into, but I could care less. The sound is on par with what I would expect from a card of this price range. The SNR is the best I've seen from any other sound card (asus or otherwise). Not that SNR is the holy grail of quality measurements but it's clear the designers worked hard to make a very clean sounding device. I use my computer as my main source now (CD's, BluRay, Flac, MP3 all rolled into one!) and having a nice sound card is essential if you want good quality sound from your PC.
One note, and it's not a "con" but something to consider. It's *just* a sound card. Unless you're using some very high quality output devices (amp, speakers and/or headphones) you should probably spend your money on speakers/amp before you throw money down on a sound card because it will offer the least improvement for your dollar. If you've already got speakers/headphones and an amp that you're very happy with, this sound card will make a noticeable improvement in your system.』
(The best soundcard I've ever purchased) 『I bought this card and paired it with the AKG K702 headphones, with my existing Heed CanAmp headphone amplifier&M-Audio AV40 monitor speakers. With my setup, I dont' hear any electrical noise, unlike my previous soundcard. The music is crystal clear! 』 『Industry-leading quality for Audiophiles; Industry-leading 124dB SNR; Headphone amp with<0.001% distortion; Nichicon¿Fine Gold¿ professional audio capacitors adopted; Perfectly shielded analog output path; Swappable OPAmp socket.』

ASUS' Proprietary Super Hybrid Engine enhances system performance and allows the EB1501's power consumption patterns to be tailored according to your required level of performance. (fun, portable, perfect) 『Pros -Quiet -Small, very portable, lightweight, goes and fits anywhere (yes, even in a cargo pocket. I've tried.) -Windows media player 9 -Starts up quickly, ~30 s -Small keyboard
Cons -Does not come with Microsoft Office, comes with Microsoft Works (an oxymoron) -Keys occasionally stick, random double letters. Be sure to proofread. -No disc drive (but, there's no space for one, either)
My Eee PC is very fast; it only takes 30-40 seconds to boot up and about 15 seconds to shut down. It's very small and light. You can take this thing anywhere. I have to add that, as a consequence of being less than 9 inches wide, this computer has a small keyboard. The width of just the letters on my desktop's full size split keyboard at the narrowest point is about a foot. Of course the keyboard on my 9 inch Eee PC is small. I like it this way. Invariably, when I sit down to write a paper at a desktop in the winter, my hands get cold. But on this mini-computer, my fingers are close together and warmed by the computer itself. After I had been using this wonderful computer for three days, the desktop computer seemed like an oversized monster. Everything was huge. I feel that I've adjusted very well to the small size of this computer. On the note of the keyboard, however, I feel I should note that some keys on the keyboard seem to stick slightly. This causes random double letters, though I should point out that this may be due to operator error (though, the double letters are usually A's or E's. Makes me want to comment about the extra E's: this computer is very enthusiastic about its name). Reviewers have commented that battery life on this computer is only around 3 hours, but they don't say how much they're doing when they use the computer. I'd like to point out that the battery is advertised to last UP TO 5 hours. Turn off the music, disable the internet, stop multitasking, and turn the brightness down a little. These changes allow me to get nearly 5 hours of battery time. I'd like to point out that the battery does charge very quickly. While I was writing a paper, the battery charged 80% in about an hour. Granted, I had the brightness down, the internet disabled, and I was using my iPod, not the laptop, to play music. I think there are two ways that this machine could be improved: 1. A bent or split keyboard. This change, however, would make the computer larger and more expensive, which would detract from its appeal. 2. Microsoft Office. All other computers I use have Microsoft Office. Sure, Microsoft Works has some nifty features, but every time I save a file, I have to save it as a different type of file so another computer can read it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of this review is written after a year of use.
I still love this thing. I have installed Microsoft Office, thus removing my biggest complaint. I also bought an external disc drive, which turns out to be bigger than my Eee PC. I love that this computer came with Microsoft XP, not Vista, though Vista was the newest OS. This computer has been filled with music, movies, and the word and excel files that every student makes. Filling up so much of its memory has slowed it down slightly, but not much. It's still faster than the old desktop. I haven't tested the battery life in a long time and have no reason to do so, but it hasn't died when I needed it to keep going. This computer is perfect for me. Except for a few months (when the computer forgot it had wireless), I've only ever had trouble accessing a wireless internet network in Japan. For a while, this wonderful computer wasn't accessing WiFi networks. That was my fault. Note: disconnect the internet, as disabling it will make the computer forget it can access wireless internet. This computer still boots up in about 40 seconds (including the time it takes for itunes to open, as it's programmed to do automatically), and still shuts off in about 15 seconds.
There are only two things wrong with it now: the random double letters, and I had to install a program to let me type in Japanese. However, me moving to Japan is not Asus's problem.
I should probably note that I am not a computer gamer. I can't tell you how this computer handles games more complex than solitaire.
I didn't give the cover time to gather fingerprints. I got one of the decal stickers, which arrived before the computer. A blue picture of the sun merely helps this mini laptop get attention.』
(A great little machine: well-worth the $258 I paid for it new.) 『I've had this machine now for about 5 or 6 months and I generally take it wherever I go. I can use the wifi at my mom's place to watch Youtube or Hulu without having to use one of their PCs. It also makes a great note-taker, because it suspends/resumes or hibernates/resumes quickly.
The machine has a nice big 160 GB hard drive, so I can pack all my valued data on it. This way, if my place gets burgled while I'm out, I still have my files. I personally would avoid units with flash storage because anything less than 40 GB is just too small.
i paid $258 for this one on Amazon back then, and I don't understand why the price has gone up so much. Ultra-portability is nice, but once it goes over $300 it isn't an impulse buy anymore.
The one aspect that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that the case does not have any sort of neck/shoulder strap. Okay, it may have added to the cost to include something like this, but they could have at least put hooks on the case so we could attach our own strap.』
(Nice little computer) 『I see very little difference between this and my big dell laptop.
First the cons. The battery lasts about 3 hours. If I wanted it to last longer I would have to adjust settings so it goes into sleep, hibernate, screen shuts off in 5 minutes etc. I tried these settings and it shut off while I was using it. I just deal with only 3 hours of battery. The only other issue I have is the right&left mouse buttons, it clicks very loud. If I'm trying to be quiet, it is very annoying.
When I first opened the package I wasn't sure that I would like such a tiny computer. But it's so powerful the size soon wasn't an issue. I had been carrying around my Dell, about 14" screen. It was bulky and I was concerned I would bang it or drop it, with all the other stuff I carry around. This little computer is like carrying a small book. Compact and lightweight. I set it up and had it running while making supper. I got on line immediately. Everything runs great. Although the keyboard is small and I'm still getting used to it, the screen size is fine, and is bright even when running on the battery.
Overall, I am very happy I bought this, and would buy another in the future. It is definitely worth the price.』
(Great Netbook that Serves Everday Needs) 『Well I've owned this netbook for almost 6 months now and have to say that it has met every expectation I had.
The first thing you have to realize when considering purchasing a netbook is that it's just that, a "net" book. If you're expecting it to run as fast as your typical laptop or desktop that you use for work's complex Excel spreadsheets or large databases, or you think you'll be able to use advanced video editing software in a snap, then you might want to adjust your expectations a bit. I'm not saying you can't do all those things with this machine, but it's not going to be at an efficient pace most of the time.
That said, I've installed Office 2007 Pro on mine, have used it to edit a few complex spreadsheets, and have even worked off some pretty large databases I've designed for work, and have been able to do what I need to just fine and without much of a delay compared to if I had done it on my work laptop.
The big reason I bought this was so I would have something small and portable that I can use at home and when traveling personally for surfing the internet, watching video, listening to / downloading music, and doing a little work on spreadsheets and word documents. It does all of that perfectly!!
Pros: - Inexpensive... I bought mine for around $250 back in May 2009 - Lightweight and portable... carrying it around is just like carrying around a small book - Battery Life... I usually get 3 to 4 hours on a charge with no problem. That includes everything from reading news to watching streaming videos. - Quiet... I rarely notice the fan, but when I do, it's not annoying, especially compared to the one on my HP laptop - Display... nice crisp image without the glossy glare I've seen on other netbooks - Upgradable... the removable panels on the bottom of the netbook make for easy upgrade of the hard-drive, RAM, or wireless card
Cons: - Keyboard... it's a little tight, but I knew that would be an adjustment with any of the netbooks I was considering. There are others out there that provide a little more space and a few more keys, but you pretty much have to go to a larger size, and my goal was to stay small - Speakers... once again, I wasn't expecting anything fantastic in this area, and I feel Asus did their best considering what they had to work with. The speakers are on the bottom, and they don't get too loud, but the sound quality is clean to me. I do find myself pulling out the headphones every now and then when I'm at home by myself just because it's too quiet. But it works for me. - Speed... When I have a lot of things up and running at once, I will start to notice some degradation in the performance. Opening up multiple tabs in IE with each tab having it's own YouTube video is a good example. This slows down any computer, but where my work laptop can handle 10 or 12 simultaneously, this one tops out at 5 or 6. But once again, I knew I wasn't buying a performance machine here, so it was not disappointing. - Screen size... Again, this is what it is. I wanted portable, and I knew there would be an adjustment. Surfing the web is really where I'll notice I have a small screen. When you're browsing a website and I have to scroll down or over where typically I would not, it can get a little annoying at times, but I've adjusted.
Summary: Overall, this is a great purchase! I've been using it as is, out of the box for the past 6 months and have no regrets. I've installed Office 2007 with no problems. I've hooked up a portable DVD drive with no problem. My next step is going to be to upgrade the RAM to 2GB, and possibly the hard-drive, but I haven't been in a hurry. I've read where others have installed Windows 7 with no problems, but they upgraded their RAM first.』 『The new Eee PC 900HA offers you more options for your mobile computing needs, providing the power of a full-sized laptop--with the latest Intel mobile processor and a 160 GB hard drive--in a compact body with an 8.9-inch screen. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Perfect) 『This thing works perfect. It's small and sturdy and functional. The cord is long enough most of the time. I like the built in fuse. Does not work with my 12v to 110v adapter. That makes the eee buzz. Doesn't sound good. The 12v plug is good when used properly.』 『Power your laptop while on the road with this convenient car adapter. An Intelligent IC chip recognizes a fully charged battery and automatically switches to saver mode to prevent overcharging and short circuit. While not in use, conveniently charge your laptop like you would your cell phone or navigation device, from the cigarette lighter. This is the perfect compliment for those who travel with a laptop / notebook.』
Pros: Its the perfect combination between a portable laptop and a gaming laptop, it a 14.1" but still has a great processor and a great video card so you can run games in it or use it to work on. It runs very cool, hardly makes any noise, you can run games without any problems in it. Mouse, keyboard and screen have great response.
Cons: The mouse buttons are a bit stiff but i guess that way they will last a bit longer, the Fn(function) key is where the control key and no bluetooth but that's not a big deal for me.
Overall great laptop specially for gamers on the move, will definitely recommend this laptop to anyone.』
(Good gaming Laptop with a few tricks) 『I've been play with this laptop for few days now, and here are some things that I would like to share with all future buyers. This laptop serves it's purpose ok - playing latest games, I have been playing DAO with very high setting and it plays smoothly, NWN2 also works great with very high settings.
But, there is no Bluetooth in this Laptop, period. Although seller indicates "with Bluetooth", that is not correct. ASUS will charge you $9.00 to process your rebate, therefore, rebate is actually $91, not $100 and I doubt if I will actually receive $91 rebate, there might be some hidden fees they don't want you to know in advance.
The LCD is not so brilliant, it's not a LED backlight LCD, it's just a normal Active TFT LCD, although the brightness is good, but the view angle is not very wide.
』
(Excellent) 『Surprisingly, this thing actually lives up to ASUS's claimed 8 second boot time. The web cam based log in feature is fairly reliable and also records images of anyone who has a failed log in attempt. It needs decent lighting to get the image right and I don't know if it can handle things like glasses or hats, but you can always log in manually. Unlike many other out of the box computers, this one has relatively little junk software pre-installed. And most of the pre-installed software is something useful, like Trend Antivirus software, Adobe's .pdf reader, and the video based log in software.
The wifi card seems to work fine and is holding a good connection to an access point that was very flaky on my old laptop. I had to download about 600mb worth of updates for Windows, but all of the ASUS software and drivers were up to date.
In terms of performance, this unit is a great value for the money. Programs load off the drive quickly and World of Warcraft runs at ~80 frames per second with most video options maxed out. My unit shipped with the ATI 4670 chip instead of the advertised 4665, which was an unexpected slight upgrade.
The system is very quite at the default settings and battery life is in the 2.5-3 hour range when wifi is active. The hard drive is also very quite and were it not for the light, I'd have no idea it was active.
ASUS's included 1 year drop/spill/accident coverage and 2 years parts and labor warranty also make this system a cut above the rest. Be sure you register with ASUS to be covered under the accidental damage coverage, though.
The top row of buttons for functions like disabling the wifi, changing power modes, etc have labels that are virtually impossible to see. They're somehow etched or embedded into a chrome strip above the function keys, but there is next to no contrast between the the label and the chrome bar. The laptop's slick finish also makes it an absolute finger print magnet. But, in my opinion, neither of these two issues were worth deducting a star from the rating.
Over all, this is a great laptop if you want something fast and well rounded and ASUS's included 1 year accident and 2 years standard warranty are icing on the cake. 』 『14.1" WXGA (1280 x 800); P8700 (2.53GHz); 4GB; ATI HD4650 1GB VRAM DDR3; 500GB 5400RPM; Super Multi; Windows 7 Home Premium; 802.11 bgn; 1.3M; 6 cell』
