ASUS tech support is ASTOUNDING. The best I have ever used by far. Right off the bat: they don't try and hide tech support phone numbers like SOME companies. No going online and all that (that's always bothered me-- if I need tech support chances are I CAN'T GET ONLINE!) It's on the first page of my manual, right there. They answer quickly-- I've never held for more then 3-5 minutes-- and when they do, oh boy. They hire people with real, serious tech training. They listen carefully and know problem causes by heart-- they're not using an automated troubleshooting system. They suggest a solution and then wait on the line while you try it, so you don't have to go to the trouble of calling back. They don't retreat after 2 minutes to telling you that come component X is no good and you need a new one, like so many tech lines. I've been using the same MOBO (A Striker Extreme) for three years, and their support is to thank for that. Additionally, they can help the tech-unsavvy and the tech-savvy in different ways. I'm pretty in-tuned, and when the tech I spoke to realized this he told me to grab a multi-meter and start poking around, which prevented us from having to test hunches in indirect ways, saving a lot of time.
I'm posting here (and on a few other asus board reviews) because I want people to know how awesome their support is and buy their stuff for that reason. I want the top guys at ASUS to see that this business model (spend more on keeping customers happy, make more on repeat sales) can succeed in a market where it is so rare. We need to show corporations that we respond well to being treated well, and maybe one day amazing tech support will be the standard.
I'm serious: I will never own a main-board other than an ASUS as long as they keep this level of customer respect. 』
(Bugged MOBO) 『After a bit of research, all the reviews on this board indicated it was great and just the thing for me. Board was very easy to install, however, when I powered up, nothing happened. An ASUS technician told me the board's BIOS was incompatible with the CPU (Intel Core I-7, 920#. Replaced the board and powered up only to find the SATA ports were defective #would not detect any internal drives). EXPRESS GATE is impressive. I plugged two external drives simltaneously into the USB ports and had no problems viewing/editing photos. It was so impressive that I intend to try a third board. Amazon responded within minutes when I informed them and replaced the board a week before promised.』

Well made, nicely laid out and many USB and Sata connections. Asus is normally a bit pricey but I don't believe you can beat the Asus quality. Amazon had the best price at the time of purchase and the 2 day shipping is always a nice bonus.』

(Best customer service ever, except the Fedex part.) 『I bought this board to replace my ECS 945PL-A. Never get ECS. Anyway, I bought this board used, from a private individial, off a 3rd party site. When I got it, neither PCIe slot worked (had to bug the people at the computer store te let me borrow a PCI card to confirm the issue). After that I called ASUS, told the the aforementioned string of the aqusiotion, and the operator said "OK, give me your email adress, and we'll send you the RMA procedure."
Never asked how old the board was, never checked anything with warrenty with me (although they did have the serial number), never give me a moments hassle in replacing the board. It was actually easyer getting an RMA than getting the guy at the post office to put a strip of tape on the package.
Also, and I'm not sure about this, but the board arrive in a FEDEX box that hab been turned inside out by the seller. ASUS ships FEDEX, so I have reason to suspect this board had been RMAd before. Sorry, I just had to brag on ASUS, I am happy beyond words with the customer servive. Even if FEDEX was a week late.
On to the review, if the processors name has a P,D,E,or Q in it, this board will run it fine. My last board said Pentium D 950 supported, but only the C1 stepping, I ordered a B1 in ignorange of that specification. Lost some money. ASUS just wrote a new BIOS (1101) 6 months ago when the new Core 2 revisions came out. Also, this thing is fast. Most people don't realize the impact of the board on speed, but it was like the 950 was unlocked. Add to that the ability to overclock everthing but the PSU, and you have a major contender for a Crysis rig for less than $700.

(Great motherboard only 1 word of warning) 『I have owned my P5N-D motherboard for almost a year; and in all of that time I have never had any complaints about it. So, why did I only give it 4 stars? Well, last night, while upgrading from a pair of nVidia GeForce 9600GT video cards to a pair of GeForce GTX-285 cards I ran into my first problem with the board. The SATA ports sit directly in front of the second PCI Express 16x slot; so they are partially blocking the use of this port. Be careful what video cards you try and install in there. 』

(Stable, capable, best affordable SLI board) 『This board is simply great. It's very stable and handles everything on my system quite well. The SLI is fast and this board is probably the cheapest you can go for SLI and still get a great product. The onboard CPU management is really helpful. It doesn't overuse wattage or waste CPU processes by automatically adjusting your voltages. All my drivers work great after the bios update.
I have no complaints about the board. It's simply great for the price. I bought this thing to replace a blown board. It uses solid state so it's much more stable hardware. I also didn't want to pay for a good SLI board since I plan on a new board when USB 3 comes out. So if you just need something to get by, this is it. Asus mobo exceptional as has been my experience with their products. Manual is easy to follow, board is very well put together, feature set is even more than I expected... the only area I found a problem was the software / supplied DVD. The DVD does not support Windows 7 (64 bit) so I had to download everything from the Asus site... and in this area Asus does not deliver their typical high standards. Their support website lacks the fundamentals their manuals follow. - It is not easy to follow; there are duplicate and triplicate copies of the same utilities... beta and full release code blended together.
Aside from the website issue, I couldn't be happier with the mobo. Asus does a great job of identifying everything on the board. They engineer boards that are real show pieces... open case users will appreciate this board and where connections are placed (easy to hide cabling).
A note for the mobo replacement type. If you are not looking for advanced feature set, no intention of "tweaking" and never see yourself over-clocking your system, then this board is overkill. But it sure is great fun to explore! 』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Overheated Northbridge when using PCI-E graphics) 『This motherboard is a tiny m-ATX board. Has onboard graphics and supports lga775 up to core 2 quad. The northbridge however, would overheat when i installed a pci-e graphics card. I tried first with an nvidia 7900gs, then with an nvidia 9800gt. Both would overheat the northbridge so that the only way i could use it was to leave the side panel off and blow a big fan directly onto the northbridge heatsink. Alternative solution would be to get a better heatsink/fan for the northbridge. I double-checked for good contact of the heatsink and verified that the heatsink would be very hot when operating. After a few minutes, the whole system would freeze-even with 3 case fans and a large cpu heatsink/fan. Blowing a fan directly onto the northbridge heatsink would cause unfreeze within a matter of seconds. Turn the fan off, freeze, fan on, unfreeze. I ended up using the onboard graphics and giving the computer to my aunt as an office pc. In that capacity, it works fine.』
(Buyer Beware) 『I would beware this particular product especially if purchased from Deal Barn.
1. The Board I received from them was NOT the board listed here, it was the P5KPL-CM/1600. This board is an Engineering Board and support is practically non-existent. I discovered this through ASUS Support over the phone with them today. The P5KPL-CM/1600 is a supposedly a European Board.
2. BIOS Cannot be updated due to it being an Engineering Model.
3. Drivers for this board are VERY hard to find and require that you know the particulars about just about everything on the board to find the right ones.
The P5KPL-CM board is a decent board but MAKE SURE that the board you get is NOT a P5KPL-CM/1600. If you get that board return it promptly as it is NOT the same board.』
(OEM - Watch Out!) 『As the other review said, this is a very good motherboard for your basic builds. Watch out for Deal Barn however, they did not mention that this was an OEM board (did not come in retail box, did not come with any IDE or SATA cables for connecting hardware). Also, it was a first generation board, so the bios should be updated. This is the only reason I give it 3 stars. If it were not OEM, I would have given it 5 stars.』
