(Great mouse - for a toddler) 『I've been looking for a bluetooth mouse for a while. I love wireless mice to go with laptops. I have a Microsoft Elite mouse, and while it's not perfect, the size, shape, and button locations are great.
This mouse appeared to have a very similar form factor to the MS Elite mouse, but I couldn't find any dimensions to describe its size (update - there are dimensions now). Usually when (stupid) companies make teeny, tiny, ridiculously small mice, they brag about it so people that are looking for real products can avoid them. So given the absence of dimensions and the absence of "super small" and the absence of the other lame euphemism for grossly undersized products - "laptop mouse", I assumed (hoped) it was normal size.
It is not normal size. It is ridiculously small. It is laughably small. It is infuriatingly small. Am I the only person left on earth with normal sized hands? (Actually I have large hands, but normal sized stuff is tolerable.) Is the rest of the world like T-Rex with itsy bitsy digits relative to the size of their bodies? I haven't noticed that look in my fellow humans, yet every mouse maker on the planet (including microsoft now) seems to be making these microscopic products. Sure it will fit in your hand bag or pocket, but is that really the point? IT'S A HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICE. It's the thing that HUMANS use to interface with a computer. The whole point of the product category is to enable HUMANS, PEOPLE, normal average sized people, to use a computer. WTF is the point of making something so small that a normal person can literally barely grasp the damn thing, let alone comfortably use it throughout their workday?
I hate you ASUS BX700, and I hate all of your tiny little friends with their hand-cramping, non-ergonomic designs, and I hate the hordes of assclowns that created you hoping to exploit the perceived market niche that says everything labeled "laptop" and made smaller is better. Or in this case NOT labeled "laptop" but still unusably small.
Somebody wake me up when the current community of peripheral designers / product managers / product makers have all failed and died, and the new ones come in to take their place; new ones that understand that HUMANS use computers.

On the plus side, if you are a t-rex-human, the look, fit, and finish were great. The buttons and scroll wheel had excellent actuation feel and great mechanical feedback. It connected to the BT transceiver in a snap. I also liked the on/off switch, which is handy for laptop applications so you can toss it in your bag without killing the battery. All of which were moot given that it is to small to use. It would have made a nice keychain... not so good as a mouse. Visually, I saw pics online with the carbon fiber finish and the glossy, looks like the final product is glossy, at least for the blue model. Screen is matte, for better visibility in areas with glare.
It's light, ASUS power management utility is pretty smart as well. Power supply is nice and small too. Keyboard is really good for a netbook.
I only have a few complaints.
Hardware problem: Occasionally the mouse touch pad does not respond, not sure if it is because of HDD caching or a bug in the device driver. Needs to be looked into.
Software problem: Windows 7 UI is netbook unfriendly.
Windows starter UI 7 is a step backwards. Make no mistake this is basically Vista revisited. There's no more Windows 'classic' view, folder views are a little weird even when you do get back to 'classicy' view. The new start menu is the real party pooper. Takes up 25% of your screen no matter if you have 1 item in it or 100, if there is one implementation where that is a horrible design flaw, it would be on a netbook with a small screen. Also some install bloat. Windows Live "Essentials", the goofy Adobe suite (replace with FoxIt Reader), starter version of M$ Office, and if you want to uninstall it is a big pain in the neck because there are so many separate install components to manually uninstall one at a time... So instead of 10 minutes, it takes almost an hour to junk it and install Open Office.
As for the broken parts of Starter Windows, I don't think it matters that much in a netbook, but time will tell. No custom wallpaper. I thought it would bother me but honestly the screen is so small the only time I see my wallpaper is during system boot up. Once there is Linux support I'd like to see how it runs under both OS's. But seems like Asus has made a nice product for 300 bones.

This is not a pc for hd video editing, but it is a great pc for use on the web, creating word documents etc. The pc has a good keyboard and a good mouse, neither is wireless. All you need is a monitor. I bought an Acer ~ 15 inch display (Acer X163Wb - LCD display - TFT - 15.6" - widescreen - 1366 x 768 black) for less than $100 at Walmart. Attached the pc to the display and now have a small pc for the kitchen. The pc comes with wireless N with small antena that attaches to the pc. It does not have cd or dvd drive (or a floppy) which is fine as it quickly attaches to your other pc's or servers on your network. All the software is preloaded including a trial for MS Office for the home.』
(Good replacement for HTPC) 『I purchased this to use as a HTPC. I Installed Windows Media Center (2005 - not Vista) and it installed without any problems. I have read about how the PC slows down when any anti-virus is installed -but, so far I have tried 2 - Norton Internet Security and Microsoft Security Essentials - have NOT noticed any performance degradation. For playing media files - I have K-lite codecs installed and all the movies/music plays nicely without any buffering. I have not tried 1080p video yet - but, 720p videos plays nicely without hogging the CPU. So far it has 'hung' few times - but that might be problems with Windows MCE rather than the h/w. The only time I see it a bit sluggish is - when it tries to show the thumbnails of the videos and musics files/folders - takes a while to show all the thumbnails if there are a lot of files. The 5.1 channel audio also plays nice in my Onkyo Receiver. Overall - happy with the PC and can't beat the price.』

The most noticeable improvement I've noticed is about the images that are already in high definition (1080i). Indeed the product, bringing them to 1080p, gives them more stability, sharper and better colors. For images already at 1080p, like those from Blu-ray players, I have not noticed any difference. In summary, do not buy this product if you want to greatly improve the quality of images in standard definition. It's not worth of it, it costs too much. Make sure DVDO do the video processing. If you have any components that does upscaling set them OFF and pass the default signal to DVDO.
Keep your television in Default Video Mode, rather than Video,Music,Game mode. This will help you see what exactly DVDO does when you change the properties like color,contrast,saturation...
And mainly please stop having negaitive opinion with out testing all the properties that an equipment has.
Pros :

Mosquito noise reduction is not effective when viewing high motion pictures, but good when objects move slowly.This is for SD content.
OK..now about my experience.
Out of box i connected SD (576i) cable to DVDO and expected for a vast visual difference.But disappointed. On next day i started playing with all the options available and set the DVDO to best properties for my TV and i am able to find decent difference of what it does to my cable content.
I have noticed the quality change but not my folks. After watching TV with DVDO for a week i decided to remove DVDO to see if they can find any difference. Once its removed they started complaining about dull picture, brightness and color saturation and so on..
When using the DVDO for SD cable i observed that there is AV Lipsync problem when changing the channels, But DVDO corrects the audio delay automatically in few seconds and if you still find the delay you can adjust the audio delay on your own from Menu settings.
So as others say SD material CRAP IN CARP OUT, my feeling is CRAP IN DECENT OUTPUT.
Next test..
I have a huge collection of personal ripped videos where the video bit rates are from 700kbps to 8MBPS. I wanted to see if DVDO can improve video with lesser bit rates.
No or less imporovement with lesser bit rates (700Kbps).With higher bit rates picture is more crisper and detailed. Mosquito Noise helps to make the video smooth to watch on 42" TV for lesser bit rates.
Zoom function in DVDO is helpful to scale the picture to 42" with out ruin the quality much.
As others say there is a major improvement in picture quality when source is more than 3MBPS.
Result of my DVD's on DVDO, it helps me to stick with DVD's for some more time than need for a Bluray Player.
DVDO Edge has Game mode which has to increase better response for gaming, but i feel a little delay while playing virtual tennis on Wii.
Overall its great add on video component for your existing A/V receiver if it doesnt have upscaling option.
My personal opinion is that of rather having a 1000$+ receiver with Video processor, DVDO does the complete video processing job and much more than receiver with video processor.
More over the processor used in DVDO edge is claimed to be one of the best chip thats being used in High End A/V receivers.
Universal Remote is supplied by DVDO and setting up is a breeze. Each Menu option has text help of what it does. So you can play around and mess up :-) and come back to your default setting.
Over all iam completely happy and worth the price.』
(So Far So Good) 『I bought this Video Processor (VP) because I had a chance to test out the Oppo BDP83 Blu-ray player and loved the video processing of the Anchor Bay Technology ABT2010 video scaler chip in this player (didn't like the Oppo sound though - very bright and flat IMO so it was returned). We have a lot of SD materials and usually watch them on a 114-in projection screean so we need something to improve the picture quality (PQ) of the source. I've been waiting for Pioneer, Denon, and Marantz specifically to come out with a Blu-ray player with this video scaler in it at a price range of $400-$800, but they have not been able to do so. The Marantz BD7004 has an Anchor Bay chip in it, but it's a 1000 series model so I didn't want to take a chance.
I came across this VP recently while searching for information at [...]. Just by chance that Amazon had a good sale this past Thanksgiving for [...]with free shipping so I took the chance. I haven't had any problems (switching between sources, video and/or audio drop out, and so forth) even though mine is 2 or 3 firmware version behind. I don't plan to upgrade to any newer version soon, though (if it ain't broke, don't fix it).
This VP does a great job of upscaling SD materials (garbage in - garbage out rule still applies if your SD sources are in the 3 to 4 Mbps; in the 6 Mbps and up, the PQ is greately improved) and even a better job of HD sources on my projection screen. I thought we (just have to include the approving financial/official here) had seen the best of HD programmings like CSI, Criminal Minds, the Mentalist, and the likes but we were wrong after we run everything though this VP. With the setup I have, it's very hard to tell the difference between the HD PQ and the 1080P PQ on the projection screen. Through this VP, the PQ is like when you take pictures with a Canon L lens (for those in the hobby of photography). By the way, I'm using the Samsung DTB-H260F digital tuner as the source for the HD TV programmings - highly recommending this tuner for those who have projection screen. It has HDMI out up to 1080i, but hard to find since it's been discontinued for some time. The PQ is very good with just the tuner already.
The VP's remote is also a plesant surprise that you could use it to program or learn to control other HT components and has punch-through (for volume) feature as well. I of course highly recommend this VP to the videophiles and/or audiophiles, or people who just want to see everything better like pictures taken by Canon L lens - on projection screen or large HD TV. To sum it up: it does to video just like high-end audio processors (pre-amps) do to audio, but you have to experience it yourself to justify the investment just like anything else in life. The pictures are just more vivid/vibrant/dynamic as if you're hearing a 7.1 surround sound (hope you understand what I am trying to say or give an anology). For those who are just happy with your average A/V receiver as your audio processing engine, maybe this VP is not right for you.
I know there are a lot of HDMI handshake/interface/synching issues when it comes to HDMI switching in general. But I, luckily, don't have any problem with this setup:
* Marantz DVD changer (VC6001), Pioneer (51FD), and Samsung 260F tuner as the sources * all connecting to the DVDO Edge video processor via HDMI 1.3a cables for video * either Digital Optical or Coax out from the sources to Lexicon pre-amp for audio * DVDO's HDMI out to a 4x2 Monoprice HDMI switch * from HDMI switch out to either Benq W5000 projector or Samsung PN58A650.
Note: I do have HDMI switching problem (only works intermittently) using this Monoprice 4x2 HDMI switch on a Samsung PN63B590 plasma TV with same source components. Go figure.
The models are given to let you know what's working with what - nothing else. I'm not in the ad business. Good luck to those who are having prolems with HDMI switching. 』
