『I went shopping around to different stores around my town and they wanted me to pay between 80-170 dollars for a charger that only charged one computer.I was tight on cash but I really needed the charger since mine had died(normal wear&tear)I randomly decided to look for one on this website and tada!I found one that was super cheap!it works really well and ITS UNIVERSAL(a plus)!!!when ever I have guests over and they bring their laptops with them,they use my charger,all you do is change the volt settings and the adapter(comes with a huge variety of em).Its really easy to use.Anyone who needs a charger should deff. buy this one!It works like a charm and it wont break the bank.』

『This item is works really well for my Gateway laptop.
The only minor niggle is that plugging the corresponding adapter plug into the universal connector means there is an extra long fixed plug coming out of the back of my laptop when it is plugged in. Just have to be careful in situations where there is something behind where my laptop is set up.』

『This is an absolutely great monitor for the price. It's very big, clear and crisp. I play a lot of video games and the monitor keeps up perfectly. It was an easy setup, no problem.

The speakers don't really add to the package. I tried them out and they sounded hollow and nothing special.

The one downside is the vertical viewing angle. Just by adjusting the height on my chair a little bit the brightness will change severely near the top and bottom of my monitor. With this kind of change depending on the vertical viewing angle, a more adjustable stand would have been nice. Instead I find myself adjusting my chair to get the right brightness. That's the only thing that stops this from getting 5 Stars.』

(ASUS VW246H 24" LCD Monitor)

『Easy to set up, great picture, very flexible, and you can't beat the price! I'm using this as a 2nd monitor with the ASUS VK246H 24" LCD Monitor. I use a Dell docking station with a Dell Precision M6400 laptop using DVI connections.

I also have a Dell Dimension 5100C (PC workstation) connected separately with a VGA connection (all wiring included). I can switch screens back and forth at the touch of a button (easily going from work to play)!

The picture has only become fuzzy 3-4 times in the past month, always when I'm using both screens and trying to access or run a GoToMeeting. This may be an issue with the GoToMeeting software (or my Dell docking station), and not the monitors. A restart has cleared the picture every time. Other than that, I have been extremely pleased with the monitor!

『As a photographer, the color and crispness of a monitor is very important and the Asus has delivered. After using this product for a few months, I can say I'm very pleased with the results. The color, crispness, and speed of the monitor is extraordinary and has worked perfectly with my 15" MacBook Pro since day one. My only complaints, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, centers around three dead pixels that have developed and the lackluster sound produced by the monitor. I didn't expect the sound to be stellar, after all it is an external monitor, but there was notable static when played through the monitor's speakers that I didn't get when played directly through the MBP. 3 Dead Pixels on a screen this large is nothing and I barely even notice them anymore; however, they are there which is disappointing for a brand new monitor.Bottom line, if you are looking for an external monitor with great color and a fast refresh rate the Asus is a good choice for you.』

『This review was written for the same clock but it had a United States Marine logo graphic behind it. Unbeatable Sale have seemingly removed the USMC version from amazon.com since I posted the original review.

When this clock arrived it was damaged; the second hand had fallen off inside the clock and the neon holders were broken. Now ordinarily I would exclude such shipping damage info from an amazon review, as it's not really pertinent to the actual item. But since this was for an imminent birthday I decided to fix it rather than return it and this gave me an opportunity to see the construction and clock innards for myself.

Now as an object d'art item this clock looks okay - it's big and the silver chrome plastic outer looks metallic although it's not. The two outer powered neon tubes (inside is white, outside is red) are bright and uniform and the print on the USMC logo is clear. The clock itself is standard fare for low priced clocks - a single AA battery powers it and it's the kind of small clock mechanism you could buy for $5 at any craft store. I'm sure it'll keep time for years though.

The construction however is VERY cheap - a crude wooden shim holds the power inlet from the power block and it was very poorly put together. Hot glue was holding the neon clips on which would explain their failure, and a poor soldering job held together with electrical tape juiced the two neons, with the wiring just shoved in there. The USMC was a cardboard print not even lacquered or sealed - could've been done on a $50 inkjet printer probably.

So ultimately I fixed the clock and on the surface it looks fine but for a near $100 item I was expecting considerably better craftsmanship and really can't recommend based on its price.

It's a shame as had the clock cost under $50 I would've been more than happy with it.』

『This is the first time I write a review on Amazon. This model just forced me to do so.
Previously, I purchased Lenovo S12 Idealpad and Samsung NC 10 netbook,
both of which I returned. I found Samsung NC 10 was too small for my large hands.
Lenovo S12 had too noisy a fan and the pad was easily heated and vibrated.

I think the Asus new model is a great deal that I have been looking for between slow netbooks
and heavy laptops. I am quite sensitive to noise and heat, and this model is almost quiet,
though it could sometimes feel slightly warm, but that's minimal comparable to my Lenovo T400.
It's amazing it has a dual core cpu for this price. I would say it's the revolution for 12.1 inch laptops.

My only con is that the keys on the touchpad is quite hard to press for dragging.
I usually use a mouse, so that wouldn't bother much.

So far, the best 12.1 inch laptop for the price.

『I got this on Nov. 16th. At the first time, I really loved it.
It doesn't look cheap at all, keyboard layout is good.
I planned to get an extra 2G RAM, but I don't need it anymore because it is so fast.

That night, this little thing had a problem.
I couldn't change is power plan.
So, I asked to Amazon.com for a replacement. I got it in two days.(Amazon rocks!)
I dropped by UPS center to return one laptop, and went to library.
There was another problem.
When I pointed the battery icon on the right bottom side, it showed a message(plugged in, not charging)

WTF?

It supposed to show me (fully charged) or (plugged in, charging).
I mailed to Amazon.com customer center, and also Asus.

All of them happened only in five days.

I don't have time to argue on this thing since I'm taking five classes in a college.

Think once more before you order.』

(Good Laptop Other than Wireless Card -&Amazon CSR ROCKS!)

『Got this laptop yesterday. When I'm close to the router, I connect over wifi fine. When I move to 20ft away, connection is very limited to non-existent. An old sony laptop sitting right next to it connects just fine, and it only has a BG card. Not sure what's wrong. I can only seem the Intel BGN 1000 wireless card sucks - in either case, that's a deal breaker for an ultraPORTABLE laptop. I plan to call ASUS, if I can't get anywhere with them, I will return the laptop - to me lack of connectivity is a deal breaker.

I'll post any updates.

Other than that, it's a nice looking light laptop with 6 hours of battery life on 50% screen brightness/wifi on.

EDIT: Still can't get the wireless card to connect further than a few feet from my router. Totally bogus for a laptop imo.

EDIT#2: I called Amazon because ASUS tech support is as clueless as I am. They offered a full refund for the thing, including SH (i think). Now THAT"S Customer Service. Thanks Evangeline!!! It's a really nice looking laptop....just too bad.

(The Almost-Perfect Ultra-Portable)

『I just upgraded to this laptop from an 8.9" Atom-powered netbook (an Asus EeePC 900HA). Here are my thoughts after using the UL20A for a few days:

Pro's:
1. SMALL FOOTPRINT&LIGHT WEIGHT. The footprint of the laptop is similar to an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper (just slightly narrower and slightly longer), and at 3.3lbs, putting it in your briefcase or backpack is no more burdensome than an extra book or binder.
2. EXCELLENT KEYBOARD. The relatively large "chiclet" keyboard makes for an effortless typing experience.
3. PERFECT SCREEN SIZE. With a 12.1" 1366x768 screen, you're getting the resolution of a 13.3" laptop in a smaller package. At 130 pixels per inch, text on the 12" screen is often pretty small, but still acceptable. I would however advise against smaller screens (e.g. 11.6") at this resolution.
4. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. Despite the low clock speed, the UL20A's Core 2 Duo is MUCH faster than any Intel Atom. HD YouTube videos play flawlessly at ~67% CPU utilization, and general performance seems much smoother than on my old netbook. I especially notice the difference when scrolling through PDF's, which was often very slow and jerky on my EeePC.
5. EXCELLENT BATTERY LIFE. After 4.5 hours of mixed light web browsing, email, and PDF viewing, I still had 40% charge left. If the battery continued to be depleted at that rate, you'd end up with--that's right--exactly the quoted 7.5 hours! I used Windows 7's "Balanced" power scheme (not any of Asus's Power4Gear modes). After some testing, I can confirm that the processor will ramp up to max frequency during heavy usage with this mode, so there's no reason not to leave it in "Balanced" all the time.
6. VERY QUIET. Even when using it in a quiet room, it's nearly impossible to hear any fan noise.
7. EXTRA WARRANTY. The UL20A comes with 1 year of "accidental damage" coverage.
8. LITTLE THIRD-PARTY BLOATWARE. The only (non-Asus) bloatware was an anti-virus software trial and some silly games. I uninstalled these in minutes (and replaced the A-V trial with Microsoft's free Security Essentials program).
9. WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. Unlike most netbooks, which ship with either Microsoft's ancient Windows XP or the crippled Windows 7 Starter Edition, this laptop comes with the full "premium" version of Microsoft's brand-new OS.

Con's:
1. ANNOYING TOUCHPAD. The texture of the touchpad causes way too much friction, which irritates your finger. The pointer also periodically freezes, placing a strange gray circle near the cursor (this is probably some stupid Synaptics feature I haven't figured out how to disable yet).
2. GLOSSY SCREEN. This causes annoying reflections, but in fairness most laptops have these nowadays.
3. ABSURD JUMBLE OF ASUS UTILITIES. Asus includes nearly a dozen separate utilities for various functions. Most have weird names, and it's not apparent what they do until you click on them. They also each seem to have their own distinct (amateurish) user interface. At the very least, Asus needs to cut the number of included programs in half (both through consolidation and elimination of pointless and redundant functions).
4. DISAPPOINTING LCD QUALITY. As was the case with my EeePC's screen, the contrast is too high, and there's a significant blue-ish hue by default. I do NOT recommend this laptop for SERIOUS photo editing (i.e. not for professionals). It should be fine for most users though.

Summary:
This notebook seems to hit a sweet spot between netbooks and full-size laptops: You're getting an almost full-size keyboard, adequate screen resolution, snappy performance, and Windows 7 Home Premium, while retaining much of the portability, low-cost, and battery life of a netbook.』

『I received this computer this morning and so far i love it!! I did a lot of research while trying to decide what computer to buy and this is the one I decided on. So far i am not disappointed!! It is thinner than i thought it would be which is a plus. It is very light and the performance is amazing! The keyboard is very comfortable and easy to type on. Probably the ONLY complaint that i have is the way that the hard drive is partitioned. There is an OS partition, which is 58.2 gigs, and a DATA partition, which is 160 gigs. All of your programs automatically install to the OS partition so i am trying to figure out how to get them to save things to the other partition.

So far i am extremely pleased with this purchase, and i would definitely recommend it to anyone who it looking for a very portable and affordable laptop!!』
