Like many other reviewers, I hestitated to purchase this due to the price and didn't think it would work or be useful after the baby is born (due in January 09). My back, knees and hips were painful, and my feet would swell during the day. My husband finally talked me into the purchase. After the first night with this pillow, I was back to my normal self - no aches or hobbling when I walked and no more swollen feet - amazing! I'm 5'8", and this pillow fits whether I'm curled up or stretched out. It also is easy to bend to form a ring so I'll be using this for breast and bottle feeding as well. I do not find the case hard to remove or put on. Just treat it like a pair of pantyhose - scrunch the cover down to one end and pull either up or off. We have a queen size bed and have no issues with the pillow crowding us (even with a cat on the bed) but we aren't the type that move around a lot in our sleep either. My husband loves using it when I'm not so I think we'll get plenty of use out of this.』

When I just started looking for crib pads, I didn't understand why I even need one - the mattress has a plastic cover on it as it is, so the mattress will never be ruined. So, I use the pad not to protect the mattress, but to make it a little softer - I didn't want my babies to lay on the plastic mattress cover with just a sheet over it. I wanted them to be comfortable and cozy, and this mattress pad did the job! I also wash it every time the baby soils the sheets - after all, the pad absorbs everything thrown on it, and would you want to sleep on something like that? I would highly recommend this product if you want to make your baby more comfortable in the crib.』

So far from all of the spit up and pee pee accidents in the past 4 weeks, we still have not had to change it yet. It stays clean and dry. (Great for leaks and stains) 『I love this crib mattress pad because the vinyl underneath the quilted part keeps my expensive mattress safe from leaks and stinky stains. Of course the vinyl is going to smell before you wash it because it came from the manufacturer that way. After you wash it though, line dry it after you peel apart the vinyl(the hot or warm water will make it stick together a little-not permanent but from the constant swishing motion and heat), it will fit a lot better on the mattress too! Slight shrinkage from the dryer even on low and if you line dry it will keep the quilted part from pilling and probably prolong the use and quality of the product. Will definitely buy another for her cradle and changing pad. I hope that this helped anyone looking to buy a great quality crib mattress protector. : )』

This mattress is actually only 27 inches. In addition, I can easily fit two fingers width between the mattress and the side of the crib. Most teens and adults would deem "classical" music as dull and tune it out, but this DVD series creates a positive association from an early age and may help them to give more varieties of music a chance in the future.
The art and animation are simplistic and cute and at times funny. We enjoyed spending an afternoon together watching these DVDs!』

She loses interest with the other DVD's quickly but she can watch this one over and over again. It also has a nice feature on the main menu where you can choose "Repeat Play" so the DVD will automatically loop and you do not have to keep hitting Play every time. (Heartbreaking, eye-opening view of streetlife for runaway kids) 『Although this video was shot some time ago, by the famed photographer Mary Ellen Mark, the conditions are as applicable now as they were back when it was made some years ago. This video "Streetwise" portays the life of several street kids in Seattle: "Tiny", the prostitute, who can't be any more than about 13 or 14; "Rat" who goes dumpster-diving for food; and Roberta Josephine (Bobbie Jo) who was eventually strangled to death by Gary Ridgway, the "Green River Killer", active in Seattle at that time and responsible for the deaths of many runaways in the Seattle area.
The conditions under which these kids live and survive is appalling. "Rat" lives in an abandoned hotel, the windows boarded up, sleeping on an old mattress on the floor. It's chilling to think of a kid being there, though he is with an older friend. You have to wonder how terrifying their home lives must have been to make them flee like that and end up on the streets with nowhere to go, and nobody to turn to. One boy hanged himself because he couldn't stand his life anymore.
The parents of these kids are nowhere to be seen; if they are, they are completely apathetic and uninvolved in their kids' lives; their boyfriends are far more important. This goes on as I write this; today, many kids live on the streets just as they did when this video was made. Yet nothing is being done about it. This video is well worth viewing; it provides an eye-opening look at the lives of these children, seen as "throwaways". In an age when everyone is baby-crazy, and going to any length whatsoever to have a child, it makes me wonder why some of these people don't take in foster kids and help them. I highly recommend this video. I'm a former college professor and I showed it to a graduate class of mine three years ago; they could not stop talking about it!』

Almost every reviewer of this documentary asks what became of these kids.The answer is often quite grim..... 1)Dewayne Pomeroy hanged himself in July,1984,the day before his 17th birthday.Some of the street kids held a balloon release and planted a tree in Freeway Park in his memory. 2)Lou Ellen Couch was stabbed by a man at an arcade on 1st and Pike street during a fight in December,1985.Her last words were,"Tell Martin and Mary Ellen Lulu died".....Some 319 people attended her funeral. (EVERYTHING LARRY CLARK's "kids" tried and failed to be...) 『Directed by Martin Bell,who directed his first feature film in 1990,the under-appreciated "American Heart", this 1985 academy award nominee is perhaps one the truly finest documentaries ever made. Inspired by a photo-essay for LIFE by Bell's wife,the brilliant photographer Mary Ellen Mark, "Streetwise" documents the daily lives of a group of throwaway kids who survive on the streets of Seattle through indomitable will to survive; there is,however,one casuality in the film - a teenage boy who committs suicide after viewing rushes of himself visiting his father in prison. His funeral becomes a point of transition in the film,which thereafter encourages the kids to react directly to the camera - not dramatising themselves,but acknowledging it's presence and the fact that the camera is now an active element in their lives,having it's own effect on their social environment. A very strange and disturbing film,oddly reminiscent of Paul Morrissey's "Trash" only in this case completely real. Since nobody pretends the camera isn't there - they frequently talk to it - it is questionable if "Streetwise" is really a documentary in the first place - or something else,a new kind of film that is totally sui generis - certainly no one has ever done anything even remotely comparable. This is one of the most unique films ever made. It could have been the start of a whole new way of making films,but Bell's later work is more along conventional fictional-narrative lines - although still quite good. But with "Streetwise" one ends up wondering which is better - the form or the content. In this case,both are of equal importance. These are real kids - not actors. They've just learned to adapt and accept the camera,the same way they've survived by adapting to and accepting a horrifyingly abnormal condition in life. It's nothing like "Kids",that's for sure. This is probably one of the best films ever made.』

(Merry Baby Einstein Christmas!) 『Baby Einstein's Baby Santa's Music Box One of the earlier releases in the now popular Baby Einstein video series, Baby Santa's Music Box is an unpolished version of the wonderful videos to come later in the collection. Relying more on music and visuals as the sole entertainment than some of the others, Baby Santa began the formula of the Baby Bach and Baby Beethoven videos with stimulating visuals set to music. Unlike the more advanced videos in the Baby Einstein series designed for older babies and toddlers, this one is entirely non-verbal and will appeal to infants as young as one month of age. Visuals rely heavily on the Baby Einstein Puppets albeit the earlier versions, visuals of ornaments and Christmas decorationas, animals playing in the snow, and lots and lots of children. The soundtack is holiday instrumental musical tunes from different countries around the world such as England, Ireland, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, and the United States yet all rendered in similar orchestration by the Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra. Appropriate for ages 1 month and up, the simplicity of the video combined with some more engaging puppet visuals will likely entertain your baby until around the 18th month. The video is short, but you have the option to "repeat play" as well as play the music without the video.
Like most of the other videos in the Baby Einstein series, this one is designed as a `video board book' for your baby and offers you the opportunity to interact with your child in the same way you do with books as well as act as a distraction for that deeply needed parental bathroom break. Most of the DVDs in the series have the option to "play" or "repeat play" and are about 20-30 minutes in length -- the repetition being very stimulating and comforting to the younger set.
While I don't think viewing Baby Einstein DVDs will make my infant "smarter" she sure does enjoy them! They give me a great way to interact with her as well as a few minutes here and there to get a few things done around the house. Their ability to calm her when she's fussy is already legendary in our household.

The video is very short (yet doesn't cost any less than the others) and really lacks the creativity the other BE videos have. (A great intro to Christmas) 『We received this as a gift and from day one my son was entertained. This was his first Christmas season and because he is so young, we did not get out much. We thought this was a great introduction to the sights and sounds of Christmas. He loved just about everything in the video especially the children and babies. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford at their best. Davis ('Baby Jane') was famous as a child vaudeville star; Crawford ('Blanche Hudson') as a movie star now in a wheelchair. Bette is an unbalanced drinker whom Joan Crawford wants to put in a sanitarium. Bette tries to avoid that at all costs. She thinks she is going to revive her 'Baby Jane' act and be famous again. Davis is superb in makeup and adult-sized little girls' dress. A total classic. Watch for the teenaged girl next door. It's Bette Davis's real daughter, B.D. (who wrote the Mommy Dearest-like book on Bette, 'My Mother's Keeper').』
("Black comedy"?) 『I wouldn't call it 'edge of your seat' - it builds quite slowly - and i wouldn't call it 'black comedy' either. Certainly there are touches of the absurd - well, the whole story is somewhat absurd, but Leonard Maltin's quote on the back of the box "Thoroughly engaging black comedy" is way off the mark. For most people, I don't think a first viewing will yield much in the way of laughs - unless you found movies like "Misery" funny.
Another thing that bugged early on in the movie was the fact that while she was trapped in her upstairs room, with her neighbor working in the garden just below - she can throw a note down to her, yet she somehow can't manage to shout to her for help? There are 2 or 3 scenes like this in the first half of the movie that seem to insult the audiences' intelligence. Other than that, the movie is interesting for what it is - a showcase of 1962 theatre of the macabre, and the talents of Betty Davis and Joan Crawford. Filming and acting are fine all around, and the story slowly but surely builds interest and horror until it reaches its memorable and shocking conclusion. This is a good movie, maybe even a great one for some. It will hold more interest for the connesseur of old, unusual or even campy movies - not necessarily for the modern movie thrill seeker - for modern thrills in the macabre, check out Dexter. ;)
As for the packaging and treatment of this movie on DVD, you couldn't ask for better. Disc 2 puts the movie and it's stars into historical perspective with 3 documentaries, behind the scenes featurette, and an Andy Williams Show segment with Betty Davis. The Betty Davis documentary is substantial at over an hour giving us Davis's life story with many clips from the vast multitude of movies she made and a career that spanned 6 or 7 decades. Love that it ends with Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes". Jody Foster hosts. The second documentary spotlight on Joan Crawford consists of a BBC interview filmed in black and white in the 60s some time after Baby Jane was made. The interview captures Joan (and the times) as it recounts her filmography and the latest tabloid gossip. The special features were great and make this edition a real value for money purchase. It's great to see movies get treatment like this.』

If Whatever Happened to Baby Jane sometimes feels like a worse Sunset Blvd jumbled up into a horror film, it makes up for it with its sheer grotesque innovation and acting; the film may be derivative but that hardly diminishes its power to horrify.

(Why do two drag queens have commentary on this DVD?) 『I wondered why in the world would they feature a couple of drag queens on the commentary for this DVD. I realize anyone connected to this film has passed away, so they had to have SOMEONE do it. But once you listen, it is pretty entertaining. The only drawback was their constant fawning of the two stars. But some of their diva ranting was funny. One went on and on about Miss Crawford's bone structure and beauty. But then again, what are they supposed to do? You will have to sit through this odd commentary, you won't be able to help it. My only complaint is I found the audio recording of poor quality. I had to turn the volume way up to hear the commentary over the film. Anyways, I probably don't need to say much about the movie. It stands as one of the best. The film opens years after a calamitous car accident leaves Blanche in a wheelchair, with no one to care for her except the increasingly insane and sadistic Jane and their servant, Norman. Trying to punish Blanche for her years of success, Jane tortures the housebound woman, slowly trying to starve her to death, all the while attempting to recapture the fame of her youth. This dark drama also stars Victor Buono as the hefty pianist who answers Jane's ad for an accompanist, hoping to milk some money off the demented old woman. (It Works) 『Several of the most recent reviews of this product haven't been too favorable so I felt I should chime in. I purchased Quake Hold for one specific use: to secure audio speakers (wood cabinet) to a metal speaker stand.
The first time I did not follow the instructions. I used more of the product than the instructions said to use. It seemed to work fine - the speakers were securely fastened. Four years later I decided to replace the speakers and.. I had one heck of a time removing them. I had to use a lot of force to separate the speakers from the stand and it was my own fault for using too much. Once that was done, the putty came off of both the stand and the speaker very easily and left no residue whatsoever.
Next I used the recommended amount to mount new speakers on the stands. After giving it time to set, I tried rocking them and the speakers were securely fastened. Then I decided to replace them after three months. This time it was easier because I had used a much smaller amount. Once again the putty easily came off the stand and the speaker, with no marks. I used it again for another pair of speakers with success.
I have only used Quake Hold for mounting speakers and it works fine. Your mileage may vary on other materials but frankly, I found it hard to believe the reviewers who said it didn't work for them. This thing works almost TOO good.』

(Fabulous!) 『A friend raved about this, and decided to buy another one for her coming baby, since she and her hubby had been using it in their room and had gotten attached to it! (Great bed-time diversion) 『My daughter didn't really take an interest in this until she was about 18 months old, then she started to pay attention to the stars on the ceiling at bedtime and even asks for 'stars' if I don't turn the turtle on as soon as the light goes off.
As other customers have pointed out - in order for it to work reasonably well you have to have the turle a certain distance from the ceiling, and in the center of the room which for most people isn't practical as they don't have a tall piece of furniture in the middle of the floor. I make due by placing the turtle on a small ottoman in the middle of the room - the stars are a little blurry because it really should be higher up and closer to the ceiling, but my daughter doesn't know the difference and enjoys the stars anyways.

No background material included in the package, alas, but the movie is in great shape and that's enough. The songs and jests fit Kaye's brand of silliness perfectly. And hearing and watching old serious dramatic pros like Basil Rathbone, Cecil Parker and Mildred Natwick volleying crackling quips with Kaye is an especially tantalizing delight. Even the hulking, ominous villain Sir Griswold (Robert Middleton) is allowed his downright adorable moment. A great comedy.』
(Sylvia does Fine as usual) 『I like Danny Kaye all right, but I'm a Sylvia Fine fan as well, and she shines here, not only in the very clever title sequence and even cleverer "Maladjusted Jester", but all the way through. I especially like the lullaby Kaye sings early in the film. Add first-rate songs to first-rate writing, spot-on performances, lush art direction and brilliant editing, and you've got one of the best comedies ever made for the screen. The swordfight, impeccably choreographed, is even better than the ones in "Princess Bride"; "Maladjusted Jester" is a delight you'll want to see over and over; the knighthood scene is a howler, and of course "the vessel with the pestle" is a classic of American culture. When they start considering film as literature in the schools, this classic should be in the basic overview. And kids, generations removed from its making, still love it.
Personal note: I introduced my daughter to this when she was in her teens, when "Murder She Wrote" was her only exposure to Angela Lansbury. She sat up and shouted, "Mom! Mom! Angela Lansbury was a BABE!!!"』

The creators of this thing apparently know what a 2-year-old finds funny, because mine just cracks up when he watches it. And his laughter trumps the annoying Elmo anyday.』

(Fantastic and it works with infants!) 『I have been babysitting my grandson M-F since he was three months. I started signing to him at four months and he started watching the DVD at 5 months. He is now 7 months and understands, Mama, Dada, Grandma, all finished, more, up, eat, milk, and cracker (He loves Baby Mum Mums Hot Kid Baby Mum-Mum Original Rice Rusk, 24-Count 1.76-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6). He responds excitedly to Mama home, milk and cracker. He signs all finished. I simply show my daughter what I sign and she reinforces it with him. She has never watched the DVD, yet is picking up signing as quickly as I show her.
The key is only a few words at a time and always say the word in context when you sign it. The DVD is excellent, shows the different ways baby sign, is great for visual learners and is a wonderful tool for Grandmas. However, young babies around the age of my grandson don't really learn signing from it even though they are attracted to the music and what they see.
He lets me know when he wants his bottle. When I sign milk (not bottle) and say "grandma is getting your milk," he watches and stops fussing. He can hear the garage door open when his mother drives in. I say, "Mama home" and sign it. A big smile comes on his face. He laughs when I sign and say cracker. It is always after he finishes his meal in his high chair.
Patience is key with very young babies but never underestimate their understanding! They are learning one word at a time. Their facial expressions say what their little hands can't do yet or mouth can't speak.
Meanwhile, I am watching the next DVDs in the sequence, so I will be ready to teach him and his mother more when he is ready. The box arrives in just a few short days. They will not use any other diaper though they have tried several in a pinch. They started with the Pamper Swaddlers and are now using the Pamper Cruiser 4.』
(Just a diaper) 『I recently reviewed Pampers Baby Dry and gave it a so/so review. A representative of Pampers suggested that I try the Cruisers instead. I was happy to try them because as I stated in my Baby Dry review, I love Pamper's bright colors and I'm wild about the baby powder smell. Truly though, the only big difference I can find between Cruisers and Baby Dry is that the Cruisers run a little bigger. Both are good enough diapers for normal daytime use but both leak when my son wears them overnight. I'm not sure why diapers these days have no leak guarding at the waist bands. They are super thin at the waist and most every morning to my aggravation my baby wakes up soaked up his back or sides. That leaves his sheets wet and his wearable blanket wet, both of which must then be washed because I don't have many spares. I'm obviously going to have to go with overnight diapers which is disappointing and just one more thing that I have to find a place for.』

The quality is going down dramatically. It's very thin and light. The edge is pretty loose and leaky. Seems P&G is trying to cut cost and starting to use cheap materials. Yet the price is going up! This is disgusting.
I don't know exactly what's going on with P&G, but this is the best way to lose customer brand loyalty. Now I have this whole box of low quality Cruisers diapers to bear with. I am really afraid to buy it again. I feel I am cheated. From Amazon.com, the product looks the same, but I am getting something that's not Pampers Cruisers anymore. Half months ago, I subscribed this product then I got different problem with 2 cans of this product. my baby got diarrhea after we started using the first can and the diarrhea stopped once we stopped using the first can. The second can works better than the first one; however, I found a 1cm long, black color fiber in the second can. I really don't know where this fiber comes from, but definately not from us...
I check the expiration date for these two cans: they are the same: March, 2011.

We try to go as organic as possible, so as soon as we found out we had to give our son formula, we searched for a good organic.
This seems to be great. It doesn't have that overly sweet smell to it that the similac had. In fact, my husband being the curious creature that he is has tasted both, and says that the Earth's Best is much better. It just looks and smells much more like something that you should give a baby. WE also have very few problems with him spitting up with this formula. He is now strictly a formula baby, and gaining weight above and beyond what his doctor had hoped to see.

(Best book I read to prepare for labor) 『I was very nervous about labor, most especially about interventions (epidurals, pitocin, c-sections, etc.). The Birth Partner had up-to-date, relatively detailed information that allowed me to feel more prepared for labor. I appreciated the matter-of-fact, even tone. Even though it is clear Simkin advocates for the most natural labor possible, she doesn't use scare tactics or overblown statistics to try to convince the reader that there's only one true way to have a baby.
If you happen to need intervention (like me), it's great going in with a reasonable understanding of what's going to happen and what the risks are (and aren't!). I went to 42 weeks with my baby and had an induction with cytotec and pitocin. I was very nervous about the induction and tried many of the natural remedies suggested in The Birth Partner (though not castor oil). They didn't work, which told me my body really wasn't ready for labor. The pitocin did work, though (as it should) and many of the strategies I read about in The Birth Partner were helpful for me coping with the labor pains.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone having a book or assisting in a birth. I've lent it out a couple of times to friends and they've all had good things to say as well.』

Also you can't use them more than once. Pack of 6 pads is $7. It is the same system like with toners for printers. Even if the printer is cheap, toner will eat all the money.』
(Great product, needs re-engineering) 『We have owned this product for many years and have found it very effective in preventing and treating colds, bronchitis, and sinus infections. However, we owned the previously made product by KAZ and found it to be a much superior product for the same purpose. Sadly, Vicks bought the KAZ product and KAZ no longer makes the old version. The Vicks product plastic cone (that you put your face into) has an odd angle for face placement, and is too tall/high and easily tips, thus spilling boiling water onto your lap or chest. Be careful with this and wear a thick blanket "bib" to protect yourself from burns. Be sure to supervise children who use this product. We did not have this same stability problem with the KAZ made product. That being said. This product is still extremely effective in treating upper respiratory problems, much cheaper than medications and drugs, and much better for the body. Product states that you can put eucalyptus (mentholatum or vicks type products) into the water, but know that these products shuts down the cillia movement in the nasal passages and bronchial tubes, and is counterproductive.』

Interactive, Life-like Kitty Lulu is the size of an actual cat, though her mechanical body is much lighter in weight, and she even sheds--thankfully not as much as a real cat, and you don't ever have to worry about allergies.
Everything about Lulu is amazingly realistic. Her soft white fur and adorable sounds make it hard not to pet her--especially when she rolls over for a tummy rub or cleans her face with her paw. Lulu has five convenient touch sensors located on her head, back and stomach. It seems that Lulu may also be able to detect motion or sound--when you walk by without touching her she will purr and meow "hello" at you. (To keep this from happening you can easily turn her off.)
Adorable and Hard Not to Love Though Lulu is designed for children, we can see how she would appeal to all age groups including adults--who wouldn't love having a fuzzy realistic toy kitty to cuddle with? Lulu's interactivity makes her a great addition to the family or as a first pet for your preschooler to care for. She even includes a brush for grooming and an adoption certificate that proclaims your child as her rightful owner. Once Lulu sits on your lap and purrs, you and your child will not be able to help falling for her.
