『Yes, I love Sesame Street, but included in this video is the episode where Mr. Hooper is no longer alive. They were remiss to include the episode, because it is very suddenly sad. Your child may not have any experience with death/ loss of a loved one, so it could be quite confusing, especially when taken out of context! Or, if you have had a recent loss, you may not want this video around in your collection.』

『I was a Sesame Street fanatic as a small child, and some of my happiest memories are of curling up with my sister to watch Bert, Ernie, and the rest of the gang. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I wanted to share these memories with her. I was disappointed. Although each of the forty seasons of Sesame Street is represented, the later seasons include more celebrity performances than actual bits by the characters themselves, and it's HEAVILY based around Elmo, Zoe, and Abby instead of including more of the traditional characters. It broke my heart to see Cookie Monster lectured about eating cookies; they have revamped the older songs to be more "hip," and they've included musical performances by bands/performers I would never choose for my toddler/preschooler to listen to (Destiny's Child, the Goo Goo Dolls, Feist, etc.). Let kids be kids and enjoy musicians and performers geared at younger children.

Don't get me wrong: the first DVD is a great walk down memory lane, and there were some fantastic clips not included on the Sesame Street Old School Vols. I-II. I'm not sorry I purchased this set, but we will be watching the first disk and skipping the second.

If you are a parent who's looking to relive your Sesame Street memories, spend your money on the Old School dvd's instead - this will be a disappointment to you.』

『I liked this DVD and it was worth what I paid for it. This is the Korean version. It stands out head and shoulders above that legendary ripoff of a double ELP VHS package from the 80's.

The video quality of this DVD is excellent. It is in true ultra wide screen. The colors are normally bright especially in the beginning.

Now the audio.

"Lamentably, Dimtri Tiomkin's musical score, which accompanies the opening titles has not been re-mastered properly, and it sounds tinny and wobbles slightly off tune. Although this significant imperfection had me worried at the beginning, all sonic quaverings disappear as soon as the film starts."

Like above, the problems I noticed were some musical tinniness here and there and some annoying background thumping on A FEW occasions where there was no other dialog or music. I only noticed this when I played in through my less expensive Home Theater system which has some cheaper speakers. When I played it through my TV speakers youdo not notice these problems so I am sure the audio quality will vary depending on what you play it on. I am going to play with it some more but these problems would not stop me from buying it again.

Please note this is a less expensive DVD and for me was worth the money ($7.00 including shipping.) Because of the audio inperfections it gets 4 stars!』

Dom Deluise is a riot as usual and although it is about a whorehouse, it does seem to humanize the situation a bit. I was totally happy that I could update my DVD collection with this to replace my VCR copy.』
『This is an energetic, but ultimately mediocre adaptation of the play, directed on Broadway by Tommy Tune. Burt Reynolds is the town sheriff and a regular patron of a local bordello. He wages a public battle to keep it open after it is targeted as the devil's den by a television minister. 『"Titanic" (1997) was the world's top grossing movie until director James Cameron did "Avatar." Cameron also directed this blockbuster. It tells two tragic stories: the story of the ill-fated ship and the story of a doomed shipboard romance aboardship. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose. DiCaprio's boyish looks and slim body opposite Kate's rather chunky, hippy body make him prettier and more lithe than she. Both are captivating. It's probably Di Caprio's best role because it fits his youth and personality.
There's some fanciful and improbable stuff going on in the bow of the ship. I've never been on a cruise ship yet where passengers had such access to the bow so they could stand up and act like they're the ship's fugureheads. In an early scene DiCaprio and his buddy are in the bow; how two steerage passengers got access to it is beyond belief. Later there are the famous scenes of the lovers cavorting at the bow. In several early scenes DiCaprio from Steerage seems to have too much run of the ship.
The overhead shots of the ship are very impressive: the camera glides over the majestic funnels and decks from stern to bow. The technical features of the movie are quite well done. The ship's architect is aboard as is the president of the company, Ismay, who wants to see the ship break TransAtlantic speed records. The captain does not want to push the engines to capacity especially in iceberg-infested waters. The ship is reliant on two lookouts in the crow's nest to spot bergs.
The two lovers, even as the ship is sinking, are pursued by Rose's manic, wild-eyed fiancé (actor Billy Zane) and a gun-toting bodyguard. They're like classic Perils of Pauline villains. (Cameron never strays too far from the roots of cinema even when he's doing his breakthrough technical shenanigans.) Melodrama for sure, but what could have been more melodramatic than an unsinkable liner going down on its maiden voyage? The gutsy, outspoken Unsinkable Molly Brown (Kathy Bates) is aboard.
The story is framed by a story within a story with an expedition exploring the ship's remains in the 1980's being the framing story. The centenarian Rose flies out to the discovery ship and relives her love affair. It's a great romantic movie of young love combined with a disaster flick.

(This is the MUST-HAVE edition if you don't already have a copy)
『In my youth, I mostly had eyes for Leo. I put away this movie for a long time assuming it was just a teenage phase, but pulling it out again years later just cements its real value.

Titanic was written and directed by James Cameron and was basically his baby for years. This movie won 11 Oscars. This movie tells the story of the tragic sinking of grandest ship ever made on her maiden voyage through the eyes of young lovers from different classes, Jack and Rose played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Again, Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses because not only is she amazingly talented, she holds up a standard of a real woman's appearance, not a anorexic twig. Her portrayl of Rose DeWitt Bukater being forced into a loveless marriage to save her destitute family masquerading that they still have money. Her emotional highs and lows throughout are amazing.

Her fiance, Cal Hockley was played by Billy Zane as one of my favorite uptight villains. His nose is in the stratosphere and he sneers down at everyone below his class, especially the threat to his love life, Jack. I particularly love the scene where he has an opportunity to help Jack and ruthlessly chooses not to, but the magnitude of that decision still brings tears to his eyes.

And of course, Jack Dawson played by Leonardo DiCaprio captured the attention of all females age 13 and up for several years while he wisely went into his shell until his work could again be judged without hormones getting in the way. His character of Jack is instantly likable, charismatic, moving, and if you don't feel anything for his humanity by the end of the movie and want to save him, your high level of testosterone is probably impeding your judgment. It has been 13 years since this movie came out so it's much easier to look at it with a clear frame of mind unclouded by gooey-eyes or jealousy.

I love the supporting actors: Bernard Hill as Captain Edward James Smith (years before Theoden in Lord of the Rings), Victor Garber as Thomas Andrews, Kathy Bates as Molly Brown, Frances Fisher as Rose's Mother, Ruth, and Jonathan Hyde as Bruce Ismay. All have a measure of dignity and grace (except Ismay of course) as they deal with the emergency on board and I really feel like they bring those historic people to life in a way that garners empathy from the audience.

The amazing images of the boat, the scale, the effects all take you completely into the movie, the grandeur and the danger. The music is beautiful although I could do without Celine Dion's song these days. If you haven't seen this movie, you live under a rock but it really is an amazing story based on historic events. Many of the events in this movie ACTUALLY happened, just not to fictional characters Jack and Rose. It is a blockbuster, one of the biggest movies of that decade, one of the biggest movies ever really and it propelled all careers of those involved to new heights.

DVD Extras:

After holding out on us for many years, this super deluxe special edition showing all the behind-the-scenes goodies was finally released. This edition has commentary from cast and crew including James Cameron and Kate Winslet (Sorry, no Leonardo DiCaprio). There is also a track of historical commentary commenting on the time period, appearance of the boat, and events that occurred as the movie progresses. If you're a history buff at all and interested in hearing more about the boat, it is definitely worth a listen. My favorite is that someone was actually scolded for breaking property on the Titanic while it was sinking. In this edition, the sound has been upgraded, the colors are richer, and the picture was anamophically enhanced for widescreen televisions. The only downside is that the movie is split into two discs so you have to get up and change it if you don't have a multi-disc player.

There are over 45 minutes of never-before-seen deleted scenes with optional commentary. One includes the nearby ship California's reaction to the Titanic distress call. The alternate ending, "Brock's Epiphany" thankfully was not used. Jack does not live, it's just really lame. Celine Dion's music video for "My Heart Will Go On" is included. There are just hundreds and hundreds of on-set photos, personal photos from the cinematographer, storyboard sketches, and technical drawings. There are many featurettes on how certain effects were achieved and what portions of the set were built to scale and which were modeled. A great deal had to be constructed rather than rented since it was going to be destroyed. The construction timplapse is particularly spectacular. The deep dive presentation in full is humbling as you get to see Titanic at the bottom of the sea minus Brock's rambling. The "Breaking New Ground" TV special does a good overview of the making of the film in a shorter time span, but if you want to see every detail, you probably can with this edition because all the bells and whistles are there...minus Leo.』

I've tried steels (too much skill required for an occasional user like me, and I'm clumsy to boot), big and little rod sharpeners (can't tell if I'm at the right angle), and a variety of honing stones (don't get me started...). I couldn't see paying the money for a "pro" level motorized sharpener. Then I tried this thing after seeing the review in the latest Cook's Illustrated...SOLD. Cheap, easy, safe, and sharpened my favorite kitchen utility knife in under 30 seconds. Does what it says, doesn't under-deliver, and so small and easy that I can touch up a knife any time I even think of it. Only reason I dropped one star (I'd have gone 4.5 if I could) is that it seems to pare a lot of steel off the knife, which concerns me a bit...but what good is a dull knife that lasts forever? Buy one, you won't go wrong.』

Quick, clean, safe, easy to use. Can be kept handy in your knife or gadget drawer. Rinse clean with hot water, sanitize with mild detergent. No need to sanitize however if your knives are clean to start with.

Your knife blade will be facing up, so make sure it points down when sliding the sharpener across that blade. Five or ten swipes is all it takes.

Don't recommend for serrated edge knives, like a bread slicer. Tried on scissors, didn't really do it. Their blades are too thick.

Makes a thoughtful gift - you know, for that mother-in-law in your life.

『This is a good filter, and in general the PUR pitchers are superior to Brita because they don't allow water in the top chamber to spill out if you try to pour water while it's still filtering. This is a good thing because, after only a couple weeks of use, it gets so slow that it can take over an hour to filter one re-fill of water. Because of this, if I continue with the PUR filters over Brita I'll be replacing them monthly or even every three weeks. It also looks like PUR filters out more stuff than Brita does.』

『I bought this for my dad about a month ago because he tried a water filter that attaches to the faucet head and it broke the faucet! It was so heavy that water just came spraying out everywhere. I noticed he was buying a lot of bottled water after that, so I got this for him and he is raving about it! He said he drinks more water than he used to, the spigot works great (doesn't leak), and it's super easy to refill. Great product!』

『This is my first PUR product and it's been a good first impression so far. I've been using Brita faucet filters for some time until I moved to my new apartment which has some faucet issues. Along with the faucet issues, the water is even worse than in the area that I previously lived in. Bad taste, occasionally cloudy, and bad smell. I was getting tired of constantly purchasing bottled water as well. After reading a few reviews here on Amazon and some additional research, I settled on getting the PUR Dispenser over the Brita. After one week of use so far I am quite satisfied with my decision. I didn't purchase it on Amazon, though Amazon led me to Target, where I picked it up locally (on sale!).

The filter works reasonably fast, I would say it fills the bottom half of the dispenser in about an hour. Note that the PUR filters are 2-Stage versus the single stage filters from Brita. The filtered water is crystal clear, has NO smell, and tastes like water should taste. I find that there are no leaks from the spout, the parts fit precisely and the size is more than manageable.

The reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is due to design. The 2 reservoirs are designed to be completely level, therefore you will have some water sitting at the very bottom of each reservoir that can't be 'dispensed' or filtered without tilting the unit. This so far hasn't become an issue.

I highly recommend this product. The quality of the filtered water itself deserves 5 stars.』

『I found filling a standard water pitcher so tedious that I often didn't. We've had so many faucet filters on our sink that eventually broke and now the threads are stripped.

This is a great product. The upper reservoir holds nearly 1 gallon. Once that filters through you can refill it with another gallon and you have 2 gallons of cold water on tap in the fridge. The tap on this is great, once it's off it off, hardly a drip. Even full it's easy to handle. The narrow design takes almost no fridge space.

Now I use filtered water for everything, coffee, cooking, drinks, ice... things that I never would have with a small quanity pitcher.

(If you like great action films don't miss this just because of the name)
『I will admit that I am a Star trek fan. I will also be the first to admit that almost all of the previous "Star Trek" movies didn't have a tremendous amount to offer non-fans. This movie is the MAJOR exception. By any name this is a great action movie. The 2-hours fly by as you enjoy not just a great Star Trek movie, but a great action movie. Unlike the other Star Treks, no previous knowledge is required to enjoy this one. Since the movie is a "reboot" the characters are introduced just like they would be in any other movie. The actors do a superb job of playing their characters. The pacing is intense and full of great adventure. The special effects are top notch. There is a ton of humor and none of it will come off as an "inside joke".

For those who were fans of the original series who might have avoided it you don't know what you are missing. As usual the trio of Kirk, Spock, and Bones get a majority of the face time. Uhura gets elevated to almost a "fourth" member of the trio. She is given a much more important part than just sitting at communications. Sulu, Pavel, and Mr. Scott have lesser roles but they are all excellent characters. Personally, I think Bones should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He is just that good.

As for the script, the movie starts extremely strong before slowing to the normal " Rebel without a cause" scenes including the perfunctory bar fight. Once past that ten minutes or so the movie jumps to warp speed and rarely slows. There is one part that I thought was silly but I guess was needed to advance the plot. I am intentionally trying to be ambiguous because I don't like people ruining important movie parts for me.

『The extras and movie are great, JJ Abrams didn't have the Trek knowledge or even the proper Trek "experts" around him (the guy in the extras couldn't even identify himself as a Trekkie or a Trekker* properly, if you don't follow or care about that comment, then it doesn't matter to you anyway, just enjoy the movie. It has a hot green chick and I hear the ladies dig Chris, Zach, and Karl); but man did he make a great movie. The Blu-Ray version is awesome. The extras that involve the cast from TOS are really well done.

The only thing about the "pc / mobile device digital version" is that you have to download it and get the DRM involved. If apple has taught us anything, it's that DRM is to be avoided at all costs. These things are a pain in the rear should your hard drive ever crash, you want to make a copy, or if you should ever want to do anything rash like get another computer or want to put it on your desktop AND your laptop.

『I have never written a review for Amazon, but I am an avid reader of them. I am searching for a steam mop of some sort and came across this product, which I already have. Because these reviews have been so helpful to me, I wanted to hopefully leave a helpful review for another. This product is amazing. We have white carpets and two kids...not a good combination, but this thing is amazing. Even when I think the carpets are clean or in areas that we hardly use, the water always looks filthy when I empty the dirty water compartment. It is easy to use, you can tell when you are running low on water, and it does exactly what it says. I simply use the hottest water from my tap and generic floor cleaner. I move slowly through the room, but spray and let any stained areas soak for a while. Do not hesitate on this. I have used the rented ones prior to this, and this does just as good a job if not better. I even cleaned my car with this, although that is a bit laborious with the size of the unit and the attachments, but it can be done. Great product』

『3rd Hoover and we'll buy another. We use it on a pretty regular basis with 3 boys a dog and a cat to the point where it wears out. It doesn't wear out due to quality of construction but due to heavy use.

『The machine setup was simple and quick and required just a phillips screwdriver. The instructions were well written and easy to follow. I did just one room this afternoon and was blown away by the amount of dirt this machine suck out my carpet. Machine clean up was fairly simple. Hoover did a great job on this machine.』

(Best retail carpet cleaner I've used)
『I'm always apprehensive of carpet cleaners that you buy, rather than rent. Those red, box-looking cleaners do the best job, but I'm sure they're $800 if you want to buy one. You just can't beat the suction they provide.
This one is a close second, though. I really like the following:

1. Lots of brushes that scrub the carpet thoroughly - you can see them spinning!
2. Good vaccuum pump that sucks up the majority of the water, leaving the carpet only slightly damp afterwards.
3. Lightweight, easy to maneuver
4. Attachments do a good job as well - there's a hand-held, spinning-brush scrubber for stairs.

The only thing I don't like about this cleaner is the complexity of its design:

1. The "catch tank" is a pain in the ass. The seal around it is very persnickety, and if you don't have it sealed just right, it won't suck up the water from the carpet.
2. The storage of the hand-held upholstery cleaner is a pain; it fits onto the back of the unit like a Chinese puzzle


All in all, I'd pick this carpet cleaner over any other I've tried.』

『I have two dogs, and let's face it, dogs have accidents, and they don't wipe their feet when they come in the house. And though I have hardwood floors for that reason, I do have rugs on them. I have been thinking about buying a steam vac for a while now, and finally took the plunge with this one. The price was right and with Prime, 2-day shipping was free! (Yay! I love Prime! Amazon should pay me I promote it all the time.) Getting the vac out of the box and putting it together was a little bit of a pain in the rear, but once it was put together, it was very easy to use. I took other reviewers' suggestions and pre-boiled the water for the "clean" tank. I was able to do a thorough cleaning of one 9'x12' rug and an 8'x10' rug using less than one tank of clean solution (some left over when I was done) and only dumping the "dirty" tank once at the end. Even though my rugs are only about 6 months old, I was shocked to see how dirty and gross the water was that came out of them! Everyone who hasn't cleaned their rugs in a while should think about doing it soon. Now that I have this steam vac, I plan to clean my rugs every month or so to keep them looking and smelling great. I used to have a small Bissell but it was a huge pain to use (required constant refilling and emptying of tanks) and all the attachments were all over the place, hence, it never got used and eventually went to Goodwill. I love how this vac has a place to store all the attachments ON the vac.』

『The only thing I can add to what other people have written is this product is amazing. It is just loud enough to cover most sounds, and you get the two speed, the faster of the two is louder to cover most all other sounds. I am a person that HAS to have some kind of white noise in the room... from a fan, or music or something. This little machine truly is is what they say. It has a constant stream of white noise without any mechanical noise. It does a very good job. I am sure there are some people out there that need just the right kind of noise machine to do the trick for them. But for me, this is great. I have it a shelf at the foot of my bed. You turn it on b4 bed, turn it off in the morning.

I would recommend to friends, family and anyone else needing a white noise generator. Good hunting!』

I ended up putting it in the next room (on the lowest volume) with a closed door between it and me. That's the only way I can use it.

(Toxic Hexane in Formula???)
『To be honest, I have never written a review, not matter how good or bad a product I received was. I never had the time and never bothered. Today, I write my very first review of a product that I have been feeding my precious son since birth. He is now 2 years 4 months. I could never breastfeed him exclusively due to bone density loss and I did massive amounts of research and tried out tons of different brands before deciding on this organic formula from Earth's Best and since then, even though he is now a toddler, I still use the Earth's Best infant formula and supplement with other child vitamins.

I was trying to re-order again in bulk from Amazon when I noticed for the first time the controversy over DHA/ARA extraction by the use of toxic hexane of which Hain Celestial which manufactures Earth's Best is guilty of. To understand my utter complete fury, you must know that I live in Singapore and I quite literally pay international shipping for every can of this formula (and wade through customs declarations, tests and tax levies) to bring this milk to my son. In Singapore, this can of milk is also available but in highly limited quantities and even more princely prices (yes, even after the tax, customs and shipping, it still costs less than US$68 which is the going price per can here). Calls to Hain Celestial customer service drove me further up the wall when first, a lady said the hexane was only in trace amounts and less than what the FDA approved. Then, reaching another lady an hour later, the story was different. She said that the hexane solvent method was the only method approved by the FDA to extract the DHA/ARA from non-toxic algae and soil fungus. A third occasion and Hain's customer service informed me that there should be no hexane detected in the product but on further probing admitted that she was not aware if the formula had undergone independent third party tests.

To me, this is crazy. The formula was marketed as a pure organic product and we pay premium prices (especially me!) for a premium product. To find that that they have taken such short cuts is completely unacceptable and the worst thing is that, it turns out that most of the other organic formula companies do this exact irresponsible thing and keep quiet about it. The only company that does not is Baby's Only - it uses a water based process to extract their DHA/ARA from eggs(compare this to Hain's claim that the hexane method is the only one approved by FDA and one wonders why Baby's Only hasn't been hauled up by the FDA yet). My son is going on that pronto once I can get a shipment to Singapore. Unfortunately, Baby's Only is not available in Singapore (not even at princely prices) and my son is going to have to continue ingesting his Earth's Best formula in the interim.

『Feeding my baby formula wasn't my first choice, but breastfeeding ended up not working out for me (wasn't able to produce enough so I really didn't have much choice). So I was glad to find an organic formula that was affordable! And using Amazon.com's Subscribe and Save program makes it even more affordable. I get diapers and wipes for my son through that too and it does save me a lot of money. Anyhow, he loves the formula (the regular milk based one) and is thriving! I wish I could make his formula as I do his pureed baby food, but I guess this is the next best thing. And it makes me feel better knowing it's organic and probably as close to nature as possible formula wise.』

『I ordered this product a while ago and my baby loved it. Half months ago, I subscribed this product then I got different problem with 2 cans of this product.
my baby got diarrhea after we started using the first can and the diarrhea stopped once we stopped using the first can.
The second can works better than the first one; however, I found a 1cm long, black color fiber in the second can. I really don't know where this fiber comes from, but definately not from us...

I check the expiration date for these two cans: they are the same: March, 2011.

I went to Baby R US and bought anther can with the expiration date of July, 2012 (or 2011), this can works fine for us.

(A clumsy Range Rover when I needed a well running Corolla)
『The first time I got into the backseat of a Range Rover, I was shocked. For all the rig's expense and prestige, the backseat was so cramped and uncomfortable my legs went to sleep. And even at only 5'7", I had to hunch over in the seat from the total lack of head space.

That's exactly how I felt when I bought my iPod Touch. I was looking to replace an iPod nano (which I loved but was nearing its capacity), an older Palm Pilot I used primarily for scheduling, and a little digital recorder I used as a songwriter to capture new song ideas. The iPod Touch wasn't an impulse buy - I did some research and talked to friends who had them and kept encountering glowing reviews.

What I found is that the three applications I specifically bought the Touch for are particularly awkward. The music app is really hard to navigate on the move. I use my iPod primarily at the gym and at home when I'm doing chores. The navigation buttons on the basic iPod are straightforward and simple even on the treadmill or in the weight room with sweaty hands. But the Touch requires a high degree of accuracy. Sweaty fingers slip off the touch pad, and many of the function touch areas are so small it's hard to hit them dead-on when you're moving. The music app also has a really annoying habit that you can't seem to disable - defaulting back to whatever song you were playing last and resuming play whenever you power back up, regardless what application you're entering.

The calendar and voice memo apps aren't any easier. I stopped using my Palm Pilot because entering meetings live into the handheld was so cumbersome. The Touch is even worse. Instead of just a numeric keypad to enter start and end times, there are dials you have to spin like the dates on a "paid" rubber stamp. And the Touch has no built in mic, so using the voice memo app requires either the headphones or another mic plug-in.

If I had the choice to make again, instead of the iPod Touch I'd just get a bigger iPod, a calendar book and a mini digital recorder.』
