Like many people, I love them for their early work, particularly Under the Table and Dreaming, Before These Crowded Streets and Crash. It was a coincidence of the spirit of the times, a young and joyful band, and their loose, improvisational style. There is no way to go back to that. Their past three albums (Everyday, Busted Stuff, Stand Up) have been a noticeable dip in the 'magic' they had (though their live act has remained excellent). Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King seems to be a climb back into a new space of musical creation. It feels as though the death of Leroi Moore has given them the spiritual resources to bring into focus the more rock'n'roll/funk style that they have been experimenting with since Everyday.
While I do not like this style as much as their early work, it is obviously a genuine development for the band, and it is good to see them produce a record of substantial quality again. BW&GGK is permeated by a spirit of mournful joy, of bereavement and celebration of memories, and the band plays with energy and conviction. Standout tracks for me are 'Shake Me Like a Monkey', with it's infectious beat, 'Spaceman' as a classic Dave sleazy love ballad, and 'You&Me', with it's bright pop sensibility.』

(The music on this CD is pretty good) 『I don't listen to a lot of music these days. I just listen to sports talk and stuff when I'm in the car. Anyway, I got this CD as a birthday present and it's pretty good. Not as good as my Buffet "Greatest Hits" CD, but it's cool. It's kind of rockin', but also sounds a little jazzy and a little funky. I don't dance to it because I don't dance. Well, OK, I'll like slow dance with my wife if we're at a wedding, but you know, whatever. Anyway, I put this CD on when I'm just doing stuff around the house and most of the time I forget it's even on. Which is totally cool. Even my wife likes it, which is totally cool too, since she mostly listens to Josh Groban and stuff. I even had it on when my frat bro Stan and his wife came over for Scattergories the other night. Stan said "Dude, is that the new Dave Matthews CD?" And I'm like, "Yeah." And Stan said "Awesome." That was good, because the last time they came over, I put on a Sting CD and Stan had too many Heinekens and started going off on Sting being a commie. Look, I hate commies too, but I'm like "Dude, you like need to chill out and stuff." Anyway, while it's a pretty cool CD, I wouldn't recommend putting it on if you and the wife are scroggin'. For that, I recommend an album called "Roxy Music" by the band Avalon. Works every time, chief. Later days.』
(Sorry, but no...) 『I'm totally baffled by the number of positive reviews here. I could see maybe a few people liking it, a few thinking it was average, etc. But 95 ratings of 5 stars???? Almost seems like people who rated it this high never heard Dave's first albums. Because if I could rate this half a star, I would. Why? Honestly, there's not much to say, beyond the usual reasons we love/hate songs. I'm more of a music/melody kind of guy, so the music will make it or break it. Meaning, while the lyrics are a nice addition if they're good, I won't like a song with the best lyrics and crappy music. So I won't comment on lyrics here because I can't even get past the music. I don't find the melodies catchy, didn't find any riffs that are particularly cool, etc. There isn't even one single on this that I enjoy listening to. In other words, disappointing music by DMB's standards.』
(LeRoi Moore's Final Recording With DMB Turns Out Nicely) 『Dave Matthews Band Big has overcome some up and down recordings over the years to produce the best work in years on Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. This CD contains the last studio recordings of saxophonist LeRoi Moore who died prior to final production from injuries resulting from an ATV accident. Big Whiskey opens and closes with solos from Moore. The opening solo, "Grux" leads directly into the high energy rocker, "Shake Me Like A Monkey". Matthews his lower register for much of this one to give more of an edge to his delivery. Rashawn Ross' trumpet is also featured prominently on this one. However things slow down to a large degree on the introspective "Funny The Way It Is". Matthews uses his falsetto to contrast many dichotomies such as "someone's going hungry/someone else is eating out" or "somebody's broken heart becomes your favorite song", but he proclaims these "not right or wrong". The song structure is also interesting as it uses multiple instrumental and lyrical bridges after the verses and chorus. I could go on and on, but it is just very well done.
Things stay mellow on the next track "Lying In The Hands Of God" - another standout track. It is impossible to listen to this masterful song and not think of Moore and his passing although this might not have been the original intent.
Another musically interesting song is "Squirm", a slow and driving track with plenty of musical tension. It features an orchestral arrangement with violins that bring a very different sound that what we hear from Boyd Tinsley elsewhere on the Big Whiskey. The tension rises as the line "Drum beats louder" leads into the guitar and string flourish preceding the chorus. This is another nice job of avoiding run-of-the-mill pop/rock music.
However, not every song works out on Big Whiskey. "Seven" is does not match the other songs in being either musically interesting or catchy and the lyrics are rather repetitive. This is really the only true criticism that I can offer for this CD, and this is the first recording from Dave Matthews Band that I can say that about it quite a while.
As a final note, it is clear that Matthews was searching for deeper meaning in life, but the lyrics often show either confusion or the ability to hold contradictory positions. "Why I Am" has the oddest occurrences with the line "I grew drunk on water turned to wine" in a verse that was also preceded by the line "I grew from monkey into man". I found it odd to reference a miracle of Jesus after a statement of evolution. Later in the same song he rather flippantly quips "Heaven or hell I'm going there with the GrooGrux King". "Time Bomb" also has some interesting references - "If Martians fell from the sky/What would that do to God" and "Baby when I get home/I wanna believe in Jesus". As a final example, "Shake Me Like A Monkey" has "God or the devil alone/Could not have made you up/the two must have worked as one together".
All in all, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is a very good CD from Dave Matthews Band. There is a lot to like and enjoy on the final studio CD that will include LeRoi Moore. The music is good, and the lyrics will make you think. It is hard to ask for a lot more than that.

Pros: This is a great addition to anyone's karaoke collection. It has hit songs, such as "Love Story" and "White Horse". You can take this CD with you anywhere and it'll play in your car or CD player! You can also sing along to the words when you put the DVD into a DVD player.
Cons: The bad thing that disappoints me about this is the fact the DVD only comes with one audio track. You can only listen to the karaoke. The previous karaoke for the debut album, "Taylor Swift", came with the original album songs, karaoke with backing vocals, AND the instrumentals (no vocals). This CD/DVD seems to be lacking those extra features.

Anyway, she slides down with her bears and ends up in a magical land. They see a unicorn named Felicey, A smart bird name Proster, and a cat namer Kiser. They play with ribbions in a game called "Ribbon Tag" and then they se the mecey mice. (One's orange, on's yellow, and one's blue.) They tell them that little bunny foo foo bopped them on the head three times and the first time a fairy game him three chances to not do it again or she'll turn him into a goon. (...) I think that this side of American history needs to be told and retold as it points to the treaty breaking political nature of our culture that in many ways mimiced the British Empire in India in the double dealings with the people of the lands taken. The slaughter of the Indians and the shipping of the young to schools shattered these cultures completely. It is pretty much a cultural eminent domain story...』

(Crazy Horse, A Warrior I Honor !!) 『This is a really great movie and by far the truest of all movies that I've seen for the Custer battle. Crazy Horse is my hero and I still study a great deal of him and the Lakota/Sioux tribe. I have watched this movie many times and always enjoy watching it, I have also read the book by Sandoz of Crazy Horse. They both are very similar to all the battles, life and trials of Crazy Horse. I wish I could of rode along side of Crazy Horse during these battles. I highly recommend this movie to everyone who wants the clearest knowledge of what really happened. I have finally found this movie with Amazon.com's help, and I am a proud owner to own this movie even though the price of it was a little much. I think it is highly worth every cent, and I hope everyone that buy's this movie and or has seen it enjoys this movie as much as I have myself. History is a virtue and this event was inevitable, What happen to Custer, he deserved! And it wasn't in anyway fair what happen to Crazy Horse, but history has played it's part here and can't be replaced. I respect that this film was made carefully, especially at the time Custer was shot the first and second time killing him, because no one knows for sure whom it was that killed Custer, but Crazy Horse was blamed, and Crazy Horse paid the price for Custer's death along with the USA's Calvery. Like I said, they deserved what they got and thats the way life goes. Michael Greyeyes as well as Wes Studi played excellent roles for Crazy Horse and Red Cloud, Along with all the other characters that played their parts as Spotted Tail, Sitting Bull, Black Shall, Black Buffalo Woman, Little Big Man, as well as Custer too. I put the video in while we did the boxes and it really helped my kids get a better understanding of what we were doing and for whom we were doing it.

(Heartwarming Tale of St. Nick) 『I've told my son that there was, indeed, a "Santa Claus" in the form of St. Nicholas. When I saw that the Veggie Tales crew was coming out with a DVD about St. Nick, I ordered it immediately.
We have quite a few Veggie Tales DVDs (we're not even Christians), and have always found them to be clever, funny and well-produced eye-candy that presents noble values and practices.
We watched Saint Nicholas last night, and my son and I teared up. I didn't know Nicholas lost his parents as a child, and that they basically died while helping others during a plague. They modeled a life of giving and sharing to young Nicholas. In this DVD, Bob, Larry, Nicky Pepper and company demonstrate the origins of St. Nick (and perhaps even practices of Santa Claus, such as filling stockings and passing gifts through the chimney), including the influence his parents had upon him and the community.
The silly song about a dog wanting donuts was pretty corny--not as good as most other silly songs--but hey! we don't buy Veggie Tales for the silly songs anyway. :o)
I wish there were more Bonus Features on this particular DVD (like they have on other ones...such as drawing demonstrations, games, screen saves, etc.), but for the price, the Saint Nicholas Veggie Tales DVD is an absolute gem.
I'm glad we added this to our extensive holiday DVD collection, and I know we'll watch it again and again--and probably without a dry eye each time.

Jim Parsons stars as Sheldon and Johnny Galecki stars as Leonard, two physicists who live together in an updated version of the Odd Couple.
Sheldon is a neat freak with zero sense of humor who can never tell when someone is being sarcastic and very well may be asexual, since he has never had even a hint of attraction for someone that we have seen.
Leonard is the more down-to-Earth of the two and it is because of Leonard that friends Howard Wolowitz, (Simon Helberg), and Rajesh Koothrappali, (Kunal Nayyar), even bother to come over, since Sheldon is, at most times, almost intolerable, (but somehow quite enjoyable just the same).
Leonard is hopelessly head over heels for his and Sheldon's neighbor, Penny, (Kaley Cuoco), a personification of the "dumb blonde" stereotype who works at the Cheesecake Factory and serves as the "Rachel" to Leonard's "Ross", if this were a Friends scenario. Thankfully, save for one minor hook-up that went nowhere, the sexual tension between them still exists and we are now in season three.
Wolowitz is the lovable sleaze of the group. He has all the one-liners to try and get all the women he can get into bed with him. He is also the inferior one of the group, since he is "only an engineer", as Sheldon loves to remind him, while the rest of the group have some sort of academic certification. He also finds the wackiest of clothing combinations and lives with his mother who we never see but only hear her, (reminiscent of Charlie Brown's teacher), and the exchanges between them are hysterical.
Raj has a major problem in that he literally cannot talk to women without the help of alcohol. If they are in a large group, he is fine, but one-on-one, he literally freezes up. Hilarity ensues in season 2 when the group are on a train and Summer Glau guest stars. Raj has a beer to warm himself up to talk to her and Wolowitz is quick to point out that Raj has mistaken the "beer" for a non-alcoholic drink.
In keeping with the Roseanne tradition, (Galecki had his start on the show as Darlene's boyfriend), The Big Bang Theory has had guest stars Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon's holy roller mother and Sara Gilbert in the recurring role of Leslie Winkle, the on-again, off-again bed partner for both Wolowitz and Leonard. Christine Baranski also guest stars as Leonard's mother who immediately hits it off with Sheldon.
The jokes are hysterical, (each episode usually has that one zinger that you'll quote with your friends), the trivia is enthralling and the characters are lovable. Plus, the commitment to continuity is more impressive than shows previous to this. Former jokes are revisited further down the line to reinforce previous points and to counter certain actions from occurring in such a way that you'll be saying to yourself, "well done!" Plus, the whole group is incredible in terms of acting with the way they regurgitate such long lines of dialogue with no hesitation--truly impressive.

FIT Index = Frequency x Intensity x Time
Frequency is a single digit number from one to five that represents your frequency of exercise. If you exercise daily or almost daily, then use the number five; three to four times per week use four; one to two times per week use three; a few times per month use two; and for less than once a month use one. If you workout vigorously, then you use the number five to represent your intensity level; if you workout with moderate or light effort, use the number four.
Meanwhile, time is a single digit number from four to one that represents the duration of your workout. If you exercise for 45 minutes or more, then use the number four; 30-44 minutes use three; 15-29 minutes use two; and for less than 15 minutes use one. After reading countless reviews on many products I selected this one since it was lower cost due to its out of production status, but had the features I wanted; text to speech, blue tooth for hands free phone,live traffic information, and a reputation for quick start-up finding all the satellites it needs to navigate. Garmin also has a good reputation. How does it work? Well, the start-up time is affected by how long ago the last time you used it and if your position has changed much since then. In general it is satisfactory on that score. At first, the text to speech was weak, but a downloaded update improved it to the point I am satisfied. I have not tried the live update feature yet as I am waiting for a long trip to test it. The sensitivity to the gps satellites is great. This unit works inside my house which helps when I am doing planning. I also like the MP3 storage [sandisk card]. I am able to load several hours of music to this device. That said the fm transmitter is poor in my car, a Honda minivan. I can use it if I plug a 3rd party device [Radio Shack] that works from the earphone jack on the Garmin that does the fm transmitter work. This will make it possible for the Garmin unit to interrupt my music playback with navigation instructions. My experience with Garmin tech support has been good so far. After you go through the phone maze and the waiting you get an American English speaking person who, in my experience is informed and patient. There is not much of that available these days. The only improvements I would want to see is: 1. Being able to organize "favorites" into folders and 2. Having computer software that allows you to plan trips and upload them to the unit.』

We hung it by a nail in our guest bathroom that has no windows. It works very well and I am glad the images don't last as long, despite other's reviews. It lasts long enough to hold a 5 and 2 year old's attention until they are ready to draw the next image. We ditched the stencils and the kids just play with the light pen on the board. The pen has withheld being dropped, kicked, stepped on, and thrown in the toilet and still works. When we have kids over, they all lock themselves in the bathroom and play with it for hours. Maybe a 7-9 year old would get frustrated with the images fading as quickly as they do, but my younger guys have not once complained. Haven't had any quality problems with the "board" either. I WOULD recommend this, and I am giving it as gifts to some of my children's friends this Christmas.』
(My Girls Love This Toy) 『This is a fantastic toy. It definitely works the best in the dark. It's great to use with the shapes they give you but also fun to put toys or other things on top of it. You can put your hand or foot on top of it and shine the light above your hand and it will leave your handprint on the board. It doesn't fade off quickly, if you are in the dark. I think this toy can be educational because your child can think of different ways to leave images on the board. I enjoy playing with this too. It can get wrinkled easily and the diamond thing that makes stars left a few dents on our board. You can't push down with that hard. My girls and I love this toy. I highly recommend it.』
