(One of the funniest shows EVER with a superb cast!!) 『I went to see "Sordid Lives" the movie several years ago with a friend and loved it! It was truy one of the funniest movies we had ever seen as we laughed all the way through it from the second the movie started when Olivia Newton-John started singing the theme song..."ain't it a bitch sorting out our Sordid Lives, it's a bitch..." When the movie came out on DVD, we went out and bought it the day of its release. Then several years later, we were so excited when the LOGO channel premired "Sordid Lives: The Series." This series has most all of the same cast members as in the movie with the exception of a few...the Delta Burke character is replaced by Caroline Rhea who is perhaps even better in the series than Delta Burke was in the movie if you can imagine that because Delta was wonderful but I have to admit that Caroline Rhea's performace in the series is out of this world. She truly nailed the part! Jason Dottley plays the role of Ty...you can't get any better than that. Then there's the legendary "Golden Girl" (Blanche) Rue McClanahan who plays the family matriarch, Peggy. Rue McClanahan plays a role unlike any other she's ever played. You truly won't believe it!! She is amazing and so very funny in this role...I had to stop and think that the person playing this role was actually the actress that played Blanche on the Golden Girls....WONDERFUL. Leslie Jordan plays the hilarious Brother Boy who is obsessed with dressing up in drag and perfoming as Tammy Wynette. Bonnie Bedelia, Ann Walker, Rosemary Alexander, Sarah Hunley, Beth Grant, and Olivia Newton-John make up the rest of this amazing cast. Beth Grant is perhaps one of the best and funniest of all the cast! Then again, there's nothing negative to say about any of these cast members or the series. I was so glad when the series was released on DVD. When I got my copy, I watched all 12 episodes without stopping. I have never laughed so much at any other movie or series EVER! My only complaint is that this series has not returned for a second season. Hopefully there will be a second season in the future or even another movie as there are so many more stories to be told. As for now, we have "Sordid Lives" the movie and "Sordid Lives: The Series" to enjoy over and over. Please take my advice and buy both the movie and the series. You won't be sorry...you'll only be laughing and you truly wont be able to get enough!!』
(Wonderful DVD set with lots of extras) 『I'm sure if you're reading this, you're looking to buy this still in-limbo series and already are familiar with the episodes. You're probably also worried about the pressings having problems like bad audio sync or compression artifacts.
Let me ease everyone's minds and say the set doesn't have any of those problems. Everything is spot-on and looks much better than the compressed version fed via cable. I've been through all the extras and there are no hiccups in playback.
That said, there's not much about extras included in the details section for the set. The first 2 discs are the 12 Episodes plus photos. The episodes are uncensored both in audio and video, so you hear a lot more and see just a little bit more. Definitely starting with Episode 3, the show started reaching beyond standard cable shows for content, especially with the infamous "Call Waiting" episode. You get to hear beyond "Beep, Beep, Beep" and it much more enjoyable.
The third disc includes the series teaser trailer, bloopers, deleted scenes and music done by Olivia Newton-John. The bloopers really are extensive and very funny. I had a blast watching them especially when one of the cast members would get the giggles and just had to get through it. The trailer is something you could already see on the internet or could have seen prior to the series making it onto TV. Olivia's music is great and a nice addition. I found the deleted scenes, while extensive, were mostly deleted for a reason. There were a few gems inside there, but most were extensions of already-existing scenes or additional before/after content that didn't add too much to the story. I'm sure that's why they were deleted. It was nice to have that as well although more bloopers would have been nice.
All in all, this is the best available way to watch the series. The DVD doesn't have the issues that plagued the very first pressings and is a must-own if you are a fan of the series. Now, to somehow get a season 2...』

We get twelve episodes of fun and the hairdos are as big as the laughs. I haven't had this much fun in a long time and this is one DVD (actually there are three) that I have been waiting on. Grab a beer and a seat and enjoy six hours of fun.』

They did it in the early 90's after the misguided 'Rattle And Hum', and they do it here after their experimental phase petered out on 'Pop'.
While billed as a back-to-basics album and a return to their classic sound, that's not quite true. Certainly, the album is much more reminiscent of their 80's work than anything they've done for a decade, as the band returns to its anthemic, guitar-driven rock sound. But the dance and electronic elements and production effects are still present, they're just not as upfront. In addition, the album as a whole feels a little more optimistic and relaxed compared to the earnestness of their 80's work.
`Elevation', `New York' and the brilliant anthem `Beautiful Day' are the songs most reminiscent of U2's 90's albums. Elsewhere, the material is more `Joshua Tree' than `Zooropa', although even on the most old-school sounding tracks such as the gospel-tinged `Stuck In A Moment..' or `Walk On' there are buried samples, drum beats, and synth effects. There are also a few new directions such as the mandolin-driven pop of `Wild Honey' and the subdued `Grace'. And despite this being one of U2's more positive albums, `Peace On Earth' and `When I Look At The World' have a surprisingly resigned and world-weary feel, as if the battles are not worth fighting anymore.
Like all of U2's best albums, ATYCLB's strength is its consistency; there are some standout singles, but nearly every song on the album is strong and memorable. And the band sound in great form, with none of the self-conscious stiffness of `Pop'. Probably just pales slightly in comparison with `The Joshua Tree' and `Achtung Baby', but it ranks up there with those two classics, making it their third masterpiece.

(If you're new to U2, this is the first one you should listen to.) 『With "All That You Can't Leave Behind," U2 set out to conquer the world once again. So they did. Sports Illustrated.com ranked their Superbowl halftime show following the Elevation tour and 9/11 as the "best superbowl halftime show ever." If you are somehow still somewhat unfamiliar with U2's music, this is the album to start with. All of their different kinds of musical attempts from their first two decades are well represented here. If you prefer the 80's U2, this is the closest thing to that era's sound since Joshua Tree. If you prefer 90's U2, not to worry, they're still into some techno sounds and phat beats. Most of all, the love on this album is so palpable it radiates through each song. Listening to this album is like having an hour long hug from your best friend. No wonder U2 toured with a heart-shaped walkway to support this album. Beautiful Day, Stuck in a Moment, Elevation, Walk-On, Kite, In a Little While, Wild Honey are seven consecutive awesome heart-melters. All of which are now U2 classics. The album admittedly does slow down a bit at the end, except for When I look at the world, another classic. With ATYCLB following POP, U2 set out to make an album where any of the tracks could be singles. With the exception of MAYBE peace on earth and grace, they succeeded admirably, however those tracks are by no means bad songs, just not strong enough to sustain weeks or months of radio play. This is far and away the warmest, most easily accesable U2 album, and it really carried a lot of us in the weeks and months following 9/11. It was a metaphorical shoulder for all of us to cry on, and in the concerts following 9/11 the band literally DID cry along with the audience because the material just happened to be so real, so emotional, and down to earth that there was no denying that connection. If you don't already own it, do yourself a favor and go out and pick up one of the best albums EVER. Rock, Soul, or otherwise. I can't really put a label on this album other than CLASSIC and INCREDIBLY REMARKABLE.』

This seems to be the first U2 album to be subject to the destroyer of sound fidelity: The loudness filter. Forget about appreciating the guitar work, drums and bass. All those sounds have been mushed together into a giant wall of static. This album is impossible to listen to from beginning to end without getting motion sickness.
And record labels keep wondering why CD sales are plummeting. I would love to send this CD back asking for a refund due to lack-of-fidelity. (Etta James Is In The House- An Encore) 『The name Etta James goes back in my memory to associations with my first listening to rock music on the old transistor radio in the late 1950's. At that time, I believe, her music was in the old doo wop tradition of the late 1950's, a music that I was fairly soon to dismiss out of hand as the `bubble gum' music that was prevalent in that period between the height of Elvis/Jerry Lee/Carl Perkins classic rock&rock and the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. That is where things were left until a dozen years ago or more when Etta `stole the show' at the Newport Folk Festival. Well, we live and learn.
The stand outs here include: the classic Etta song "I'd Rather Go Blind," the saucy "Tell Mama," and "All The Way Down". Overall this is a lesser Etta compilation, especially for a Chess 50th Anniversary edition item that usually has a higher quality sound. 』
(Sensational!) 『I'd never heard Etta James before till a friend played this album. She, and it, are fantastic! A lotta blues, a little rock, and a wonderful voice!』
(Distinctive sixties R+B music) 『Born Jamesetta Hawkins of mixed parentage, Etta James began her career at the dawn of rock'n'roll but her career only really took off when she joined the Chess label in 1960 and it is from her period with Chess that this collection was compiled. Etta could rock and she could sing the blues, but her biggest successes came with her re-interpretations of old classics from the swing era, most particularly her cover of At lat, although she also had hits with other types of song.
Etta's peak years, at least as far as the singles charts were concerned, were the early sixties, when she was a regular in the American charts with All I could do was cry, At last, Trust in me, Don't cry baby, Something's got a hold on me, Stop the wedding and Pushover. Personal problems took their toll for a while, but Etta returned to top form in 1967 with Tell Mama, Security and I'd rather go blind. A cover of the last-named song, which Etta wrote, became a British top twenty hit for Chicken Shack, a group that featured Christine Perfect (who later became Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac) as lead singer.
All those hits, together with many other great songs, can be found on this excellent collection of music by one of the most distinctive R+B singers you're ever likely to hear.』

But the worst aspect of the movie is the overblown effort of all involved to be oh so funny and zany and madcap. It is terribly overdone. I usually like Jimmy Stewart's acting. But not in this movie. I usually like Frank Capra's movies. But not this one.』

However, the Manufacturer must have had this in mind since a Lifetime Warranty comes with the product. I can either contact them after the Holiday Season has past or return the defective one and request a replacement product from Amazon.

It really extends the life of the undergarment because the hooks don't get bent out of shape, the straps aren't a tangled mess or fraying. Since I buy Wacoal and they cost 70 bucks a pop so you want to be able to protect your investment.
However, the thing I really liked was last weekend when I discovered being able to wash and dry one of my hand-knitted scarves. Because the bag keeps the scarf from getting wadded up and twisting on itself, it was perfect for taking most of the moisture out of the scarf and allowing it to dry without getting all stretched out and messed up. If you do this and your garment is made of a wool or animal fiber, then you still need to keep an eye on it to keep it from felting -- unless that is your goal.
The bags are made well and double layered with a secure zipper. It is ample sized so can hold several small flat garments or one larger scarf/shawl.

(No more hand washing for me!) 『I have been searching for a product like this for quite some time. After using it several times I can happily say that it performs wonderfully for me.
I wear a B cup so I am able to fit two bras into the bag nicely with room to spare. I can see where larger cup sizes may pose some problems. Mesh bags in different sizes could solve that problem.
I like that the bag is sturdy yet flexible. It has two layers of mesh, the inner layer being a fine mesh and the outer layer a more open weave mesh. There is no chance that the bars inside could snag or get caught on other things in the wash. I find that my bras stay put during the wash and are almost in the same position after the was as they were when I inserted them into the bag. Mind you, I wash them on the delicate cycle with like items so it's not like they are bouncing around in the wash with jeans or the like.
One thing that I was a little displeased with (and this is no fault of the Honey-Can-Do company) is that on the Amazon page it states "two pack" at the top of the page by the product picture. I thought I was getting two bags with my order. I think Amazon is trying to say you can fit two bras inside. In short, when you order this you will only get one bra bag. I really think Amazon needs to remove the "two pack" statement as it can be misleading.

i've used this video twice and i chose to do the instructional segments both times. even though they take time, you can still get a good workout with those segments since the movements are very deliberate as you learn the moves. i used my heart rate monitor and noticed that i can stay in my cardio zone, and even go higher than that in some instances (lauren's segment, for example).
for example, Lauren's hip hop segment has some high impact (side to side "pony" jumping). whether you do it slow or fast, your heart rate will go up.
in Travis' contemporary segment, it kind of reminded me of standing yoga/pilates where you're using your entire body to do the moves. it flowed well.
Courtney's segment is disco, but not your 70's disco. the moves are travolta, but the music is contemporary, if you can imagine that.
the disc is chaptered so you can choose just the workouts, and each workout at dance speed, is roughly 6 minutes apiece. so with the warm-up (11 min) and cool down (5 min?), you've got a roughly 35 min workout.
the great thing about this too is that they mirror cue, even in side profile position. that means when they refer to "the right foot", it's "your own right foot", like you're looking in a mirror.
i have never watched the show, so i can't compare whether it's similar. as a workout video, it's pretty solid. the warm up is very generous and thorough. i do the entire workout barefooted, and some of dancers do it in bare feet.』

(Really fun, unique dance routines) 『"So You Think You Can Dance: Cardio Funk" is a workout DVD based on the popular TV show with three of the styles from the show: Hip-Hop, Contemporary, and Disco. It is led by past contestants who are pretty good teachers and seem to enjoy what they are doing. I've broken down my review into each workout portion to best explain this DVD.
Warm-Up-The warm-up is rather long, lasting about 13 minutes, but it is really fun each time I do it. It is led by the three featured instructors as well as the other three from the partner DVD. It contains the same exercises as the partner DVD which include stretches and some hopping dance moves. A rather long warm-up, but it is fun.
Hip-Hop-Led by Lauren, the hip-hop routine is full of high cardio hops, knee lifts, and twists. Lauren instructs really well by being motivating, but not over the top. Her music choice is not what I'd expect for hip-hop, but it is still nice.
Contemporary-Led by Travis, this routine is the lowest cardio on the DVD, but the best in terms of REAL dancing. The routine features moves I've never seen before, and Travis does a great job of teaching them. He is a bit silly sometimes, but he really is a good instructor. Once again, the music choice was nice but not what I'd expect for contemporary.
Disco-Led by Courtney, this routine is full of shuffles, hitchhikers, and points. It moves quickly, but the steps are easy to learn and fun. Courtney is a great instructor, but she sometimes sounds like she's yelling at the TV screen. She can be quite loud. The music choice is disco, but it's not a song I recognize.
Bonus-Led by all six instructors, it mixes the basic moves from each routine together. I was able to get it my first time through, but others could find it a bit more complex. Fun and great addition.
Cool Down-Once again, this is the same moves as in the other partner video, but they are great and relaxing. They seem to stretch every muscle, and they really calm your body down. My one complaint is that the stretches aren't held long enough, but it's no biggie.
Overall, it is a fabulous fitness DVD. It's so fabulous that as soon as I finished it I had to go order the second one. It is a tad misleading, however, as it says that it lasts 116 minutes. About half of that is teaching, and once you get the routines and just do the workouts, the mixture of all six parts will be about an hour. Great work, So You Think You Can Dance, can't wait to see what you come up with next year! BTW, you don't have to be a fan of the show to enjoy!』

(toddlermommy) 『I recently bought this system, "My Baby Can Read" thinking it would help my son read words. To tell you the truth, the video is really boring. It kept my son's attention because of the animals in the video. The thing I really didn't like or care for is certain letters used are always different. For example the word "tiger" would be spelled like this but the thing that I would think is confusing (for a small child) is they would use the letter g in that form then another g like an old typewriter. I can't post one up but its like a circle with a little half bent circle then another circle. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Same thing with the letter a. It is used in this form "a" then as a circle with a little line next to it. As adults, we know they are different letters, but what bothers me is why they wouldn't just be consistent with a letter.
Anyway, my son seems to never even look at the tv when the words are supposed to be read on the tv screen. Once they say the word, he repeats it and he knows exactly what everything is. But the whole point of this video is so the children see the words and recognize them and learn to read them. I use the flash cards and my son is only interested in looking at the back of the cards where the picture is. I try to show him "elephant" and he just tries to get the card from me or for me to turn it around. As soon as he sees the picture of the elephant, he will say, elephant. He is very good at looking at pictures and saying whatever it is, that was the whole reason why I bought the dvd's so he can learn to READ them. It just never keeps his attention though.
I think it is better for small babies. My son just turned 3. It says it's for babies from 3 months to 5 years of age. He was 2 when I purchased it but I guess I will have to come up with something else to help him read. I figure it's not going to hurt him if he doesn't know how to read yet. None of us knew how to read when we were that age. We learned it at school and sounding out words and knowing the sounds they make. But it's good that they know a lot and are ahead of the crowd. It just takes time and consistency. So, in my opinion, it probably would benefit a really small baby instead of a toddler.』

It was only weeks before she was reading the flash cards from the 1st DVD! (Good idea-boring and long product.) 『I'm a teacher and I know how to teach children to read, but I had a curiosity about how this product teaches infants to read. I had heard criticism because it teaches memorization only and not phonics. However, part of reading is memorization. What bugs me is the videos almost seem like hypnotic rather than teaching. The words flash on the screen so fast during the songs and I think its a good concept but needs a lot of supplementing to work well. When teaching 5 and 6 yr olds to read teachers use sight words, just like the words they use in the video. But we use them in games, on bulletin boards, not flashing for a few seconds on a screen.
If you sit down and get your baby to watch these they may or may not learn to recognize the words. However, paired with alphabet games, phonics songs, one-on-one interaction that deals with letters and phonic sounds and lots of reading...then this would work. Basically its a good teaching tool, not a whole teaching system. If you use it as just one of many tools to educate your child then I believe you'd have a strong reader by kindergarten. If you sit your child in front of the dvds two times a day without making this exciting, it probably won't work and they could even grow to hate written words.
I don't think forcing your child to watch this twice a day will do any good. When my daughter grows bored with it I turn it off and do another activity and we come back to it later when she's in the mood. That being said I think these DVDs are way too long for their intended audience.
Don't waste your money and buy this system used or at a discount if you plan on using it.』

When I saw the low price of this network printer, I jumped on it, and have been thrilled at the features and ease of integration into our mixed network.
I had an extra Ethernet jack handy, so the printer is connected to the wired network. However, I assume things would work as well using the wireless connectivity options. Duplex scanning and copying is a great feature, and scanning over the network to any of our Macs works great. (I haven't tried scanning to a PC yet.)
The print cartridges glow when they are properly snapped into place. I wonder how much I will have to pay for this feature each time I buy an ink cartridge.
Now that the newer Canon PIXMA MX870 is available, the price on this printer is great. Highly recommended for the frustrated tech-support-at-home provider!』
(I am impressed with this printer.) 『I just got this printer and I am impressed with it. It was meticulously packaged. That showed that someone cares about quality. It looks solidly built. The software worked flawlessly. The design is nice, with separate ink tanks and a replaceable print head. (Not like my last printer, a Brother All-In-One that had a non-replaceable head. When the head clogged on that one the printer was toast.)
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I had some trouble getting the wireless connection to work. The written instructions weren't quite good enough. There are better instructions on the Canon website. The trick is to be in administrative mode with the firewall turned off. Then follow the step by step instructions.

(Great Printer) 『Great printer so far. I've always been an HP user, so the learning curve was a bit steeper during the setup than it otherwise might have been with another HP--there are more components to put together and the instructions are more pictorial than I'm accustomed to--but all in all, the setup was a breeze. The duplex (two-sided) printing on this thing must be seen to be believed. That feature alone is worth the $100. (Update: I bought this for $98. If it's higher than that, you might want to wait it out and see if it comes back down.)
Two downsides are its relatively slow printing (my previous 6-year-old HP Deskjet would crush this in a race, for example) and its relatively big size (fairly short but rather wide and definitely deep; don't get this if you're looking for a printer with a compact footprint), but they're definitely not dealbreakers. I'm personally more concerned with saving paper and being able to print things from another room in my apartment without having to get up and plug in a USB cable every time, so if those things are important to you too, I'm guessing you'll be happy with this.
Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to do any scanning, copying, or photo printing, so I can't comment on how well those work--but it's Canon. I'm not expecting to be disappointed.
For those with Mac OS X 10.6 (I'm running 10.6.2), installation using the disc was fine, and Software Update prompted me to download updated drivers within a day. I don't anticipate using the bundled software at all, but for ease of installation, it was a small price to pay. My biggest problem with the software now is that it installs a menubar icon for the scanner that doesn't appear to be removable. Kind of annoying. (Update: Search Google for an Apple support thread on removing the menubar icon. It basically just involves removing the offending application from login items and/or killing the process in Activity Monitor. Done.)』

(I like this printer) 『I did have some trouble setting up the wireless connection. Then I followed the instructions on the little viewer on the printer and it made the connection. When I cannot remotely print, it is due to the wireless router, which is not reliable. So, by rebooting the router the printer go on line.
Photo print quality is OK, but I'm used to a high quality Canon photo printer which give me excellent results. I like the duplexing feature, but don't use it much. I do like the twin paper racks. One for photo paper and the other for plain.

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (NOT an upgrade to SD1100 - low end wanna be) 『After toying with a Canon SD1100 IS that belongs to a friend of mine, and deciding that my 7 year old Nikon point-and-shoot needed to be upgraded, I had made my decision on a new purchase. However, the Canon SD1100 had been discontinued by Canon and was no longer available from retailers. Most sites direct you to the SD1200 IS as the "newer model", just like Amazon does.
Thinking it really was just the "newer model" to the Canon SD1100, I went ahead and purchased the SD1200. The price was right, and there was free shipping to boot - what did I have to lose?
Apparently - a lot.
When I opened the box I was taken aback by the feel of the SD1200 IS camera. It is EXTREMELY light weight compared to the SD1100, and almost feels "plastic-y" and "cheap". But, this really wasn't a big deal to me as it was small, light, and portable, and my primary focus was with the feature set. So I charged up the battery and waited in anxious anticipation to try out my new toy. Once the battery was fully charged, I powered up the camera with a blank SD card to give it a go. Immediately, I was disappointed.
The #1 feature I need was GONE from this camera. Stitch Assist, or what other manufacturers call Panorama Assist, is NONEXISTENT on this camera. Nada - zilch - zero. Some people may tell you that "technically, you can still stitch photos", you just need to do it manually. Yes, that is correct. You can take photos in a sequence and stitch them manually in the Canon software, but that doesn't mean they will look good. Without Stitch Assist, the camera's ISO and white balance settings will not lock, and will likely change between photos. This results in a patchwork looking panoramic photo. So while the photos may align, the colors/exposure will vary between frames. Yes, you could manually set the ISO, etc., but now you are adding multiple steps (which you must remember to do) for what used to be a simple procedure of selecting a preset "scene". This is a huge knock to this camera, which relegates it to the "beginner" or "novice" category of camera.
I am involved in engineering and architecture, and rely on the Stitch Assist feature daily for my work. Removing it (along with some other shooting modes, like Color Swap, etc.) from the SD1200 was an obvious attempt by Canon to get you to spend an extra $60 on a better model for these features, which are now provided as basic options from most manufacturers.
To me, this is a useless camera, and it has already been boxed up with a return label to be returned to Amazon. Canon - you really let me down with the SD1200 IS - and you should never have marketed it as a "newer model" to the Canon SD1100. It doesn't even compare.
Fool me once, shame on me.』
(dissapointing, poor quality, not so great) 『I bought this camera as a replacement of an older Canon PowerShot SD800IS which I accidentally broke. I was so pleased with the older model I bought this newer model without checking it firsthand at a store (after all it is many more features). I've realized this was a huge mistake - and here's why:
1. The first thing I noticed was the build quality of the camera was very poor - It looks poorly engineered and it is made entirely out of plastic now. Also it is now manufactured in China where as the older model was made of metal and manufactured in Japan. Also all the accessories like the battery charger are noticeably cheaper.
2. The battery life is really short - I would be lucky to get an hour's worth of use before the battery runs out - after being fully charged the night before. I have recently discovered that there is a design/manufacturing issue with the seating of the battery and now when the low battery warning flashes I simply open the battery cover and jiggle the battery and the camera starts working again. I discovered this out of frustration.
3. Compared to the old camera - the flash really floods (or overexposes) an image and all the colors get washed out - so I end up using the flash as little as possible - but now the pictures become very grainy. Hence the photo quality is definitely not on par compared to the older model.
I am definitely not a professional photographer and use the camera purely for photographing my kids so I keep the camera on it's default settings for almost all photos - I am telling you this so you understand I am a casual photographer and even my less discerning photographic needs are not being met by this camera.
