I researched a number of perches and chose this one based on the mid-range price and ease of installation. Just a couple of thumb screws and some velcro tape and it's done. The part that took the longest was waiting the requisite 2 hours for the adhesive on the velcro strip to set. After that set up was a matter of minutes. As soon as it was ready, Rosa kitty jumped up, settled in and has been there ever since. She's quite petite (only 4lbs), so there's more than enough room for her. I'd say a cat substantially larger could lounge comfortably. As I write this, she's snoozing on her new perch perfectly content.』

Note, this installs by way of heavy duty velcro which will pull your paint when you take it off. However, if you are careful to install it a 1/4 inch back from the window, the cover is easy to slip on and off for cleaning. Color is a light taupey-grey.
The legs are adjustable. Product extends out so that it would make furniture placement under/near it tricky but the legs provide enough support that the shelf supports both of our cats easily.』

Out of the 3 this was the only one to survive for over 1 year. Its on it's 3rd year of service. The other two had the wire wall mounts which seem to ben easily (my cat is only 6 lbs.) and the cushion and cover wore out.
This perch is well constructed and sets up very easy. The cover has been washed many times and is still in great condition, my cat still loves it. So while it is a little pricier than some others you see, the life cycle of the product makes up for the cost.』

This album sounds and presented like it was forced off the production line. A couple of good songs but nothing that I have come to expect from this man. "Lucas, me Quiera a Mi" is a very funny black gay comedy. It is almost pure camp with an outrageous cast of characters. Even though much of the film is cliché, it is still one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. Three gay men are living together but can't seem to pay the rent so they decide it bring in a fourth roommate. The need for the roommate is immediate as their landlady is threatening to evict them but they are very particular about who this new roommate will be. The guys set up an interviewing process and it is obvious that the only guy who can fill the bill is the last guy to come to talk to them--Lucas. When Lucas does not show up at a meeting later, the guys begin to worry. When they open the door to the apartment they see something that they did not expect. But what has happened to Lucas is partly due with the guys themselves. The film is the definition of fluff. Naturally all three guys fall in love with Lucas and when this is realized, we flashback as each of the three gives his confession of love with Lucas who they found murdered in their flat. It later turns out that Lucas was the missing lover of one of two policewomen who come to investigate the crime. When the murder cannot be solved, the body had to be disposed of. This doesn't seem like much of a plot but when you meet the characters who represent every stereotype, you can't help laughing. 』
(Silly, hilarious fun!) 『What an enjoyable comedy! The plot is so far-fetched, the acting so over-the-top, and the script chock full of delicious camp, that the movie is a joy to watch. Best friends, Dani, Toni and Carlos all fall head-over-heels in lust with their new roommate, jealousy comes between them. But Lucas isn't quite the nice guy they imagined, and when he's found murdered, the bizarre 'investigation' that follows implicates everyone as the possible killer...it just happens that Dani, Toni and Carlos are more concerned with proving who was Lucas' actual lover, rather than defending their innocence!
My one qualm is with the subtitle job: the translations for the dialog sometimes don't match what's being said. It catches the gist of the moment, but there are British-isms that might throw viewers on this side of the Atlantic. Folks who are fairly fluent in Spanish will have a better time switching off the subtitles and just enjoying the film.
By no means an Oscar winner or masterpiece, "Lucas Me Queria a Mi" is just good fun all around. Highly recommended for a night of chuckles with a delicious gay twist. 』
(High Camp and Silly 'Murder Mystery' from Spain) 『PERDONA BONITA, PERO LUCAS ME QUERIA A MI (roughly translated means ' Pardon me Duckie, but Lucas loves Me!) is a piece of fluff from Spain that is so over the top that it is almost Daliesque. Were it not for a fairly strong cast this little film could be mistaken for a low budget TV series type project.
Toni (Jordi Mollà), Dani (Roberto Correcher) and Carlos (Pepón Nieto) are three gays living together in a flat and find their rent is so past due that they are to be evicted unless they come up with some fast cash. Their flat has an extra room, they advertise for a tenant, interview an endless groups of hilariousmisfits and finally settle on the hunky Lucas (Alonso Caparrós) with whom all three fall in love! The scene flashes forward three months and when Lucas doesn't show up at the apartment the three begin to confess that each is enamored with and seeing Lucas secretly. When Lucas cannot be found atthe usual designated meeting places the three return to their flat to find Lucas murdered in his bed!
The police are called, the policewomen are bizarre beyond words and it is discovered that Lucas is the missing lover of one of the two women. In a very high camp setting each of the three roommates 'confesses' his own dalliance with the dead Lucas (this is done with flashbacks that paint Lucas in the imagined delusional image of each), various 'witnesses' contribute their views, and finally when the murder cannot be solved the entire group disposes of the corpse in an odd manner and the way in which the story ends is hilarious.
Some may be offended by the stereotypes that represent every character, but since each of the characters is campy and ludicrous no one type is damaged intentionally. The clichés are broad and the humor is pushed to extremes, but the little film bounces merrily along as the bit of fluff it is. The actors truly make it better than the writers/directors Dunia Ayaso and Félix Sabroso material. Grady Harp, May 05』

As I have long admired Josephine Baker as a person, I wanted to see one of her few movies. This one, while having a simple&formula story, was much more than I expected from other reviews. It is, in its way, semi-biographical, as it describes the rise of a beautiful woman from abject poverty to wealth. I found it to have an all-round excellent cast and well acted. Some of the shots were difficult to see, but that is how many black&white films of this era were shot. The film has been re-mastered very well. Josephine Baker was excellent in this film. I do wish that there had been more scenes of her dancing. She has been described as a "boneless" dancer, as she was extremely flexible in her youth. I was pleasantly surprised by how well she sang, as I have never heard her singing voice. She was a bit too mature to play this particular role, but she overcame that obstacle in a believable manner. All in all, I enjoyed this film very much and am adding this video to my collection.』
(So bad it's good) 『I used to think that no movies in the world beat 1930s-style Hollywood films--especially the ones featuring big musical and dance scenes--for sheer camp. But after watching "Princess Tam Tam," I realized that the French of the 1930s were pretty good at making movies so bad that, eighty-odd years later, their very badness makes them totally fun to watch.
"Tam Tam" is formulaic, as one would expect: debonair and worldly novelist is jealous of his wife, so he fakes a romance with a wild girl of north Africa--played by Josephine Baker--to make his wife jealous in turn. Baker plays a street urchin whom the novelist pretends is a "jungle" princess and introduces to Parisian high society as such. Predictably, the charade is exposed, but--also predictably--everyone lives happily ever after anyway.
There are some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments in the film. The guy who plays the novelist's sidekick, a sort of Oliver Hardy character, is really a good comedic actor. But for the most part the dialogue is strained and the editing is particularly bad. Jumps between splices occur nonstop.
The film was made, one suspects, to give Josephine Baker a stage. She'd made two earlier French films, the silent "Siren of the Tropic" and "Zou Zou," a much better talkie in which she sings the song made famous by the later film "Frida." But "Tam Tam" doesn't give Baker much of an opportunity to show her stuff. She sings a couple of numbers, which is good. But her two dance scenes are continuously interrupted by the camera panning the crowd of onlookers. And Baker looks old and a bit tired in the film. She tries real hard to be the vivacious and spirited gal that France fell in love with, but can't quite pull it off in this film.
So the film is pretty much an utter cinematic disaster. But it's great fun to watch.』

It is indeed a great joy to be able to see Josephine in action...to witness the star quality that enchanted people the world over and mesmerised fans for half a century.
I love Princess Tam Tam overall...The dance scenes are magnificent; the flexibility and lithe grace that Josephine possessed never ceases to amaze me. One critic said that she just had a few gimicks and shouldn't be considered a dancer but Josephine accomplished with her body what many are rushing to Juilliard to achieve today. She was able to combine ballet, acrobatics, jazz dancing and vaudeville comedic steps into one stunning whole. Some people were not moved by her singing either but her range was breath taking to me. Her voice was pristine and girlish...a soprano of exquisite beauty...
Josephine you were the true definition of DIVA!!!
The highlights of the film for me were her rendition of 'Dreams'...a lovely song that she sings; the camera gets a excellent closeup of her against the backdrop of a boat sail - showcasing her exotic good looks. And the dance scene at the end were she reveals her 'savage ways' to the French Gentry on stage at the Maharajah's party where she dances to 'Ahe, la Conga'. That scene particular keeps me on the edge of my seat.』
(The Black Venus comes to dvd) 『Josephine Baker, born and raised in St. Louis, left the United States as a teenager to escape racial discrimination. She moved to France and in the mid-20s became the toast of Paris dancing and singing in the Folies Berge. Billed as the "Black Venus," Baker wowed audiences with her provacative moves, especially her infamous "banana dance." And she made a few movies as well.
"Princess Tam Tam," filmed in Tunisia, is one of her better efforts. It is a Pygmalion-type story about a writer who takes an African vacation to escape his arrogant society wife. He and his collaborator seek inspiration to write a novel and they find it in an exotic native girl played by Baker. The writer decides to transform the girl into a princess and bring her back to France to make his wife jealous. The film is enhanced by Baker, whose personality shines through - it is easy to see why audiences were so enchanted with her. She gets to do two dance numbers - one inside a cafe and the other during an elaborate Busby Berkeley style number at the end of the film.
The extras on the disc inside a 20 minutes documentary which discusses three significant Baker films - "Siren of the Tropics," "Zou Zou," and "Princess Tam Tam." It includes interviews with Baker's adopted son, Jean-Claude as well as actress Lynn Whitfield (who portrayed Baker in the film "The Josephine Baker Story"), NY Times theater critic Margo Jefferson and dance critic Elizabeth Kendall.』 『This 1935 variation onPygmalionis a clever French vehicle for Josephine Baker, the Missouri woman who found stardom in Paris as a dancer and singer. The games are fairly easy to play, except the controls are not that easy to use - especially on game #1 (there are 5 games.) Game 5 is the easiest and funnest... you are flying a butterfly (that looks somewhat like a B&W version of the butterflies you can choose from in the Pixie Hollow on-line game.) You earn points on this hand-held game to use in the clickables program for the Pixie Hollow game to have a butterfly for a day, 3 days, 5 days or a week at a time (it takes 25,000 points for the week-long butterfly, AND you get a cool badge as well when you get a certain amount of points!)
Fun interactive, and for those who are Pixie Hollow players, it is a nice add-on, but could have been made a bit better, had easier to use controls, and a pause as well. You can transfer points to other Clickables devices, so if you have a friend that has the friendship bracelet or the jewelry box, you can transfer the points to either of those devices and give them points (or keep one of those plugged in that is registered to yourself/ your family and use it that way.)
The on-line game is free to a point, and after that it is about $30 for a six-month subscription, although you can play it for free to see if you like it. I'd recommend playing it for free to see if it is something you and/or your daughter/granddaughter(s) likes before buying the Clickables game and other items!
If you play the [...] game (which this hand-held game is integrated with) and like it, you'll want to get the rest of the charms (this item comes with one of them), the jewelry box (comes with three) and the others (there are 9 sets - some are just charms, the more expensive ones are charms with a chain bracelet), AND at least one (Or more if your friends play too so you can get even more badges and these make great party favors) "friendship bracelet" that you can swap points, Clickables charms for the fairies on your account, and you can choose chat phrases to use and are supposed to be able to get additional badges for using those phrases as well.
The online game changes with seasons, is fairly new, and with that comes some glitches here and there, but it is all-in-all a pretty fun game and is very entertaining.
The ONLY way to get the butterfly on-line is to play the hand-held game! There is NO other way, and you cannot use a used game (I know, I received a used one that looked like it was new, and had to get another!)

Second, her information is outright wrong on several entries. I gave this book a 2 - because its midly entertaining. There are some tables in the back that are fairly accurate and I would say that those are probably the best part of the book. There are no scientific names for herbs so she relies on you just knowing about it, having another book that tells you what is what - or worse - guessing which can lead to some dangerous practices.
I would not take anything you see in this book at face value. Its a great entertainment tool, the tables in the back are helpful - but that's about all it has to offer. If you want a serious Magickal Herbalism reference book, I highly recommend a book by Paul Beyerl, Scott Cunningham, Ellen Dugan or even Gerina Dunwich (although I am not a big fan of her work, but her books are better).
If you are going to be mixing your own stuff - specially for herbal baths and products that will come in direct contact with your skin, I highly recommend you get a good desk herbal reference such as The Herb Book by John Lust or any book by the Tierra's so that you know side effects and possible toxic herbs before you mix and use them. Do not mix anything out of this book alone!
