(You don't have to tango to love this recording)

I have the hobby (for lack of a better word) of picking up a tune and exploring all its different versions. Lately I was exploring the classic bolero "La historia de un amor". I must've found some 50 odd versions of it and was almost wrapping up on it, when I wandered to the Quintango website and chanced upon a clip of a tango-ized version of this song by Quintango. I knew I'd found a rare gem. I must've played the clip some 20-30 times over! Quintango's version of it heavenly, and can instantly trigger a flood of emotions, and I know Ive found a gem. I'm on my way to purchasing all their CDs.
Recommended for people who like to listen to tango music. This is Washington DC's best-known and most recorded tango ensemble. They have played at the Kennedy Center, the White House, and the Pan American Union, as well as the Argentine Embassy. The ensemble includes 2 violins, double bass, cello, and piano. All musicians have impeccable academic credentials and have performed professionally with regional symphony orchestras.

The music on the disk contains a lot of favorites:"La Cumparsita,""El dia que me querias,""Nueve de Julio,""Taquito militar,""Tus besos fueron mios,"and"Caminito."There are only two pieces by Piazzola. I mentioned that because some dancers do not like disks that have a preponderance of pieces by Piazzola. Yes, some people stay away from"tango nuevo."Dancers will recognize the names Carlos Gardel, Gerardo Rodriguez, Mariano Mores, and Juan de Dios Filberto. The arrangements are great, and the presentation is delightful.
This is a most thrilling CD. The music is vibrant and each attack is crisp and in tune. Tango appreciation has taken a huge step forward with QuinTango and anyone that listens to this fine CD connot fail to be converted. I was lucky enough to see this group perform in the Kennedy Center to an overflowing audience and they are as superb live as they are on this CD.
It's lush. It's sensual. It's soothing. When you listen to Quintango (either in person or on one of their CDs) you are transported to the beauty of the tango. As much fun as it is to watch (and I've been told - to dance), it's splendid to hear this group play tango music. This is a must for any lover of tango and its music and even for those who are not familiar with either. Try it, you'll love it.
Classic tangos, tango waltzes (vals criollos), milongas, and New Tango are all presented with the signature passion and elegance of QuinTango, a quintet of strings and piano. Liner notes in English, Spanish and French.

This film is still a delightful romp through English countryside and the eighteenth century. Entertaining and enchanting.
Funny movie, even if dated (1963). I was a senior in high school and vividly remember the times. Good acting and clear video. I'm very pleased.
What a fun movie. Great cast. Costumes really add to the atmosphere. And the music is terrific. "Tom Jones" is in my top ten movies I have seen, what a rush. And a great story line. You can't help rooting for this rake. Love the scene with the oysters.
Buy this flic, you cannot go wrong.
It has charm and humor to spare, that is for sure, and it is rich with wonderful performances and witty dialog but calling it the best movie of the year seems like a stretch. I so adore it, which goes without saying, and I enjoy every minute, but it is just a good movie that provides a good time, and it never feels like more than that.

Does that make any sense?

The film follows Tom, the adopted son of a British squire. He's a lady-charmer of sorts, planting his seed wherever he may lie and loving every minute of it. When Tom falls for the beautiful Sophie, the daughter of a neighboring squire, things begin to heat up for Tom. Jealousies within the family cause Tom to eventual flee only to get himself in more and more trouble. He's a kindhearted and well intentioned young man who just doesn't know when to stop.

`Tom Jones' is a very funny movie that sports a stellar cast of comedic performances, as well as some touching and sincere ones. Albert Finney received his first of many Oscar nominations for this film, and he was definitely deserving (it was such a good year in this category). He is charming and witty, enough so to make even Tom's most reprehensible of actions forgeable. High Griffiths and Edith Evans ham it up in their roles, providing an abundance of comic relief, and Susannah York is stunning and beautifully tempered as Sophie.

There isn't a sore spot to be found within the acting at all.

The script is also delightfully written, engaging and funny throughout, sporting some very memorable moments and some intriguing character development. I loved the voice over narration, which provided the film with a literary feel that complemented its comedic tone. It is very well constructed and wonderfully put directed.

The fact remains that while I cannot find a single flaw I just cannot name it the best of the year. I think when you consider the films that were provided to us in 1963 `Tom Jones' kind of falls towards the middle of the list. Films like `Hud' or `This Sporting Life' were much stronger works and much more poignant and influential. `8½' is another example of a film that is much smarter and much more technically proficient than `Tom Jones'. This film is splendid and entertaining but its well does not run as deep as some of the years other offerings. Top ten maybe (I'd give it an A-), but not top five and definitely not numberone.

Oh well, it is till a wonderful film and one that I will continue to watch and enjoy for years to come.
A very good print of the original movie. A classic effort for foreign film during the 60's. Outshines many current efforts at period comedy.
Winner of four Academy Awards including best picture, director, screenplay, and music, this 1963 adaptation of Henry Fielding's classic novel is a rousing, bawdy comedy about a young man's ribald adventures in 18th-century England. Albert Finney is splendidly hilarious in the title role of a charming womanizer who was discovered as an abandoned infant in the bed of Squire Allworthy, a wealthy landowner who named the child Tom Jones and raised him as his own. As a young man, Tom yearns for the comely daughter (Susannah York) of a neighboring squire, but his amorous adventures (including an extended food orgy that becomes the film's funniest scene) lead him to London and to a duel with a jealous husband. He's sentenced to hang, but fate intervenes. A hit around the world, the film was expertly written by noted playwright John Osborne, and director Tony Richardson uses a variety of old-style movie techniques to heighten the lusty, good-natured fun. I picked up this book thinking that it was going to be incredibly helpful. It is, after all called "Spellcraft for Teens: A Magickal Guide To Writing And Casting Spells." And I was very disappointed when it was shipped to me, and I had the time to look through it.

First of all, the presentation of the book is very childish. Every page has at least two little green icons, ranging from stars to triangles, that prove no purpose except to make the text funny-shaped and take up space. I found this very annoying, and it makes the book seem like it's meant for twelve-year-olds instead of "teens." I can live without illustrations on every page, thanks.

The next thing I really don't like is that it has very little information on the actual spellcraft aspect. There is a lot of rambling about what Wicca is, and what tools you might want to acquire, along with the definition of magic and why she spelled it with a "k." And after you get through all of the author's rambling, you finally get to the "spellcraft" section, which is basically a bunch of written rhyming spoken words, so you're supposed to just "come up with" your own ritual and use her words.

All told, I was very disappointed with the book. It included very little on the actual aspect of spellcraft, and though I didn't spend very much on the book, I'm displeased with it. I was looking for a step-by-step guide, and I didn't find anything helpful at all in this book. Trust me, it's not worth your time or money.
Gwen has given female teen practitioners a wonderful guide. Although I do not think she intended to limit it to female practitioners, the cover art, and art within the book can be very discouraging to male practitioners.

This book is Wicca 101 for teens. I do see some holes in her work, but I think that comes from being a solitary practitioner. Overall, there is no reason any teen practitioner should not read this book, but I would encourage them to read a few others as well.
This book contains some good information about spells but doesnt say alot about the history of the craft. It had quite a bit of blank space throughout the book but what was there was good.

Overall I think this book is very useful for the beginner wiccan. I use it all the time for ideas on spells and charms. At first i was skeptical on buying it because the cover is a bit cheesy, however, the info inside of it really helped me. Im so glad i got it and recommend it to any wicca beginner.
I'm a 12 year old wiccan and just entered the world of wicca a year ago. This book is a perfect book for explaining spells. My only critism is that Rain doesn't explain much about wicca in this book. Otherwise, this book is awesome.
