The "Charm's Charming Chubeez" are excellent toys for children. They are cute, well made, have a delightful "weight" to them because of the water-filled ball. Don't be put off about the water-belly - these toys aren't going to leak unless a dog gets a hold of them.

However, it should be noted that they are closer to the 8" toy standard than the 12" that's mentioned in the description - this may vary by toy.

Additionally, the belly is made of a Lycra/spandex-like material in the shape of a heart that contains a rather huge "Charm's Charming Chubeez" logo. The logo is slightly offensive but the toy is overall so delightful it's not hard to over look and kids won't generally care about it either.

By far, these toys are up there with the likes of the "Aurora" brand in their delightful design and quality materials.

This a great spell book for those in need of fast magick spells. If your need is dire,there is a spell here to fit the bill and you can get to it quick. Judith Illes is one of my favorite authors and her book,The Element Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells : The Ultimate Reference Book for the Magical Arts, is a must-have, as well. This a must-have on every practicioner's shelf!
I disagree with the reviewer's comment that "Witches don't need a book of spells" because that is precisely what Witches DO need! The mass majority of so-called Witches&especially Wiccans could not enchant their way out of a wet paper sack with a razor sharp dagger in hand! The reason for this is because the average practitioner is about as ignorant as the author of the book-of-the-month-pagans are when it comes to spells and spellcasting.

Personally, I understand how spells are made as I spent years dissecting many of the old charms and spells found in folklore. This is what a Novice SHOULD be doing but does not instead choosing to waste time trying to reinvent the wheel.

This is a useful collection of spells (even though I found some to be odd such as "Surviving Natural Disasters" or "Make Your Children Behave In Public" but overall quite useful for what is offered. I also enjoyed the way she utilizes natural things to aim and direct a spell's energy toward a particular purpose.

Case-in-point with the "Increase Business Now" where she suggests using sand (she calls it dust) from an anthill with a lodestone and the other two ingredients. The ants is a PERFECT sympathetic item to use beause who in the world work harder and are more dedicated than ants? They're the perfect analogy of a big corporation. Most of the so-called Occult books out there neglect the materials from nature other than herbs, roots, resins&essential oils.

Overall I found the materials and the way they're used in this manual to be well balanced and as well thought out.

The ONE thing I dislike is her 'ethics' discussion. Cannot understand WHY McWiccans must be forewarned in every book they may touch. Gods this is such rhetorical nonsense and smacks of the same indoctrination on Wiccabes as Xianity does with their young. This is the one thing that kept me from giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. Since she caved in to the pressure of the McWiccans, I have to give her only 4 out of 5 stars.
I don't own the book, but it caught my attention while I was browsing the New Age section in a bookstore nearby, so I spent a few minutes skimming through it. I'm not at all familiar with Wicca, ashamed as I am to admit it, and for someone like me, it was quite interesting (and not hard to follow). I've been contemplating buying it for a few days, which is why I'm here (the bookstore ran out of copies, which is quite a compliment).

Yes, I noticed the sexist bias the Doctor talks about, too. I was not, however, knowledgeable (or focused) enough to be able to tell if it was there because the spell wouldn't work if a man used it on a woman (must the writing of a spell be specific down to the gender of the caster and that of the... "castee"?), or because it seemed unlikely to the author that a guy would want to improve, salvage, or start a relationship.

I don't know if using a spell to try and accomplish any of those constitutes "manipulation". If it does, then that's a pity. A curious point worth making, however, is what the stereotypical female / male (if I'm allowed the sweeping generalization) would usually use manipulation of the opposite sex for, and I don't mean by (just) spells. There are plenty of self-help books that employ different tactics based on psychology, communication, body language and even "mind control".

For the woman, the goal (usually) is to "manipulate" the man she loves into wanting to try and build something lasting and meaningful together. For a man, it's (usually) about "manipulating" a woman he's attracted to sexually into his bed, the end. (Most self-help books that include NLP or "mind control" in their titles are geared exclusively towards men with this specific goal in mind - spot her, "get her to do anything you want", move on to next target.)

The profound difference in how constructive / benevolent male and female motives are does not excuse manipulation when it comes from women, but it does provide an amusing pespective.
I had high hopes for this book, because I liked Illes' other work, The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells (read my review for that), but I found that I was a bit disappointed with this one - mainly because most of the spells in here were in her 5000 Spells book, just expanded. So, if you have 5000 Spells, there's really no need to get this book. I also don't constitute getting a man to love you back as an "emergency" (one of the spells in this book), and I would never work a spell of that nature. But, Illes is not a Wiccan, so she doesn't adhere to the rules of magic that I do.

Overall, I recommend 5000 Spells for the greater variety of ingredients and topics instead.
This book contains easy-to-follow spells for things such as money, love and other little problems. It is not a huge book, which can be a plus if you want to take a spellbook out with you but don't want to lug around one of the larger volumes. Need to get rid of that nasty neighbor? This book has spells for that. Want a raise? Voila, this book has a spell for that too.

Plus, the cute cartoons certainly don't hurt.

(Charming, Sexy, Fun......a great cowboy story)

I couldn't get into the characters of this story. I didn't like Meg. And well, it's hard to get into the story after finding that out. Clint was fine, better than fine, in fact. But that Meg...

On the first page, when it refers to Meg watching Captain Kangaroo at a tender age, I wondered how old she was? Also, the story itself was a bit lame. The characters were very well developed and the ending was as good as it was going to get considering my feelings about Meg.

Another thing, and maybe the second most important is after reading the word "yummy", it all went downhill for me. This word has been popping up everywhere. It's gotten to the point, if I read the word "yummy" again I'm going to have to go back to watching television. To be fair though, this book was written a few years back. Still, that word - ugh!

If you want steamy, fun, humor, sexy well you've got it with this book. I loved this story and it's HQN Temptations 1000 book. As Vicki says in the intro to this book, her appearance on the on Regis and Kelly Show gave her career an additional boost.

That Chopin's Songs have been unjustly neglected and left all but unrecognized as a bonafide set of invaluable individual works of incredible musical and emotional scope is because they have never before been performed.... like this. Podles and Ohlsson give us sublime readings of Chopin's complete Op. 74 (plus the exceptional addition of two more songs that the composer "tossed off" in autograph books of friends--- and were published as late as 1910!) in a critical release of music whose beautiful performances will make it accessible to even those who would prefer root canal surgery rather than listen to vocal repertoire. But once heard, the spell is cast.

The pairing of contralto Ewa Podles and pianist Ohlsson is an artistic match that, besides being made in heaven, takes the breath away. What a voice is hers! Such poignant depth, such dark, rich, full-throated hues, such utter command of the myriad colorings of Chopin's inspirations! And, with Ohlsson's thoroughly sensitive accompaniment, Podles is unfettered in her ability to convey the composer's most melancholic despair ("Faded and Vanished")--- with a voice so filled with anguish it could make a stone weep!--- his lyrical sweetness and naivete ("The Maiden's Wish"), his affecting nostalgia ("The Sad River"), charming exhuberance ("A Drinking Song"), wistfulness ("Spring"), love ("My Darling").

The inclusion of the delightful, and even less frequently heard, Variations for Flute and Piano in E gives the CD cheerful closure (much needed after the riveting outpouring of Chopin angst). Elizabeth Mann plays a fine, mellow flute and, again, Mr. Ohlsson is the most giving and unselfish of accompanists.

The Arabesque sound throughout is intimate and cocooning; song texts are in both Polish and English; and the liner notes by Frank Cooper are excellent.

It doesn't matter what voice range Chopin originally scored his 19 songs for. They have been performed by mezzo-sopranos, sopranos, and sometimes with no singer at all, just a lone piano. It was a stroke of genius for Arabesque to have enlisted contralto Ewa Podles to sing them. Good contraltos occur rarely on new releases these days, even more rarely than their male equivalent, the countertenor. Not since Kathleen Ferrier have I heard a contralto mine such quarries of feeling. Her rendition of "Nie Ma Czego grzeba" ("Faded and Vanished") is so melancholic, so early Romantic, that it could have been penned by Franz Schubert. The melismas at the end of each stanza extracted tears from me, a feat that hasn't occurred in recent memory. Her rendition of "Out of My Sight" dramatically conveys the conflicting emotions of one lover parting from another. Elly Ameling and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau sing Schubert lieder with similar finesse, pacing, and eloquence. Scholars disagree, but Chopin appears to have written most of these songs in two periods, 1829-1831 and 1847. The early ones were old-fashioned even for their time. Because of their strophic style and naïve folk elements, they belong more to the pre-lied era of the late 18th century. Only in songs like "Melodia" (1847) does Chopin approach the emotional depth of the emerging art song. The piano works he composed at the same time blazed more brightly, popularizing such obscure forms like the nocturne. That said, I believe it is a pity Chopin didn't write more of these excellent songs. They transcend the limited forms in which he fit them. They are morose ("The Two-Fold End", raucous ("Drinking Song"), martial ("The Warrior"), even slightly earthy ("Lithuanian Song"). Pianist Garrick Ohlsson,who has performed in the previous 11 volumes of this series, proves an excellent accompanist. His technique is sensitive, well paced, and flamboyant only when required, never showy. Like pianist Gerald Moore, he never draws attention from the vocal pyrotechnics of his singer. The final piece, "Variations in E Major for Flute and Piano" (for"Non piu mesta"from Rossini's La Cenerentola) is a charming trifle composed when Chopin was fourteen. Although a bit anti-climactic after these marvelous songs, the piece shows that Chopin, while not a child prodigy like Mozart or Mendelssohn, was clearly on the way to greatness. Flautist Elizabeth Mann and Ohlsson render the piece well. Compulsive Chopin collectors will be happy to have it.
